(A generic but entertaining adventure)
『"El-Hazard: The Magnificent World" is an anime very much in the "Tenchi Muyo!" mold: a romantic comedy/adventure in which blank-slate protagonist Makoto is thrust into a sci-fi scenario and gets to play hero while being chased by multiple women. Though the characters in "El-Hazard" aren't developed as deeply as the "Tenchi" crew and the show occasionally suffers from awkward pacing, "El-Hazard" has a charm all it own. The mysterious antiheroine Ifurita is compelling, and the kids' hard-drinking teacher Fujisawa is consistently funny. Most impressively, "El-Hazard" tells a complete and satisfying story, tying up its seeming plot holes with an ingenious last-episode twist. Usually these types of shows start strong, only to end up limping through anticlimaxes and false endings. Even the romantic tension is unambiguously resolved!

The dub is also pretty darn good, though it tends to get overly shouty, especially in the segments centering on Jinnai. Can't the guy ever just speak in a normal tone?

"El-Hazard" is hardly the type of show that will change your life, but if you like "Tenchi" or other anime in this vein, this box set is probably a good bet. (The set actually contains two separate shows: the original "El-Hazard" OAV and its 4-episode sequel "El-Hazard 2." The sequel is an inconsequential side story that unfortunately doesn't really add any value.)

(Not worth $107)
『I purchased my version of El Hazard from a zShop for 19 bucks and I am SO glad that I did.
That said, the first series is worth watching for two main reasons: overt lesbianism and Jinnai. The former is self-explanatory while the latter (Jinnai) is without a doubt the best character in the series (despite the fact that he is the antagonist). You can't say that any of the characters are very deep or well developed, but throughout the first series Jennai is by far the most satisfyingly fleshed-out character, as well as the most ammusing and true to his nature. This superiority is all the more appearant when he is contrasted with story's main character who is shallowly developed and in no way engaging.
And this is what makes the second series (all four dismal episodes) so tragic: they nerfed Jinnai. He could never have been called a genius in the first series, but he was decidedly intelligent, cool, pragmatic, supremely self-confident and an effective leader (even though he was also manic and delusional). In El Hazard II, as if in response to the world recoiling at the sight of a humorous though competent villain, they have turned Jinnai into a slapstick-idiot persuing his increasingly nebulous ambition with foolish abandon.
I suggest purchasing El Hazard through...alternate means,... watching the first series and discarding the second. Let's face it: even lesbian humor gets old when the writing sucks and the characters are empty.』

(Awesome. A must have for anime comedy fans)
『Being a big fan of anime comedy (the intelligent, yet lame humor) I was eager to see El Hazard "The magnificent world". Because of the high price of the set, I had some hesitation (because of some poor reviews on Amazon).

Well, I have to say that the bad reviews are wrong. This DVD series was totally awesome (although I admit it started a bit slow). I promise the more you keep watching, the better it gets. The plot is highly intelligent (involving dimensional and time travel) and the characters are very interesting (with distinctive special powers).

Some say the humor in El Hazard is juvenile (but I would argue no more juvenile then southpark), and seriously what good comedy isn't juvenile?

Some also say that the story is sometimes too redundant (because many episodes involve a doomsday device), to which I respond "Do we call the original starwars trilogy redundant because they involve the death star"? no, ofcourse not.

yes this DVD set lacks some extras, but I think Pioneer did a great job. The DVD menu presentation is beautiful, and the box is very elegant too. Hopefully you can get this set for around 40 dollars on Ebay (beware of bootlegs). It's very hard to find a good authentic set. The sequel "alternative world" which I just ordered, individually should cost around 30 dollars if you shop smart.

For my fellow anime comedy fans, I also reccomend "Niea under 7" and "His and Her Circumstances".

(Excellent series)
『ive seen alot of anime, but el hazard has to be one of the best. my only regret is that it was so good that it ended too soon. if ur looking for something with humor action and even some romance, i highly recomend el hazard.』

(A vortex of idleness sucked me into this one...)
『After reading the reviews of El Hazard, I was curious. Seeing that a used import copy of the full series was available through Amazon, I figured I'd take a stab at it for 25 bucks (better than _110_ for the American version). The import version is fine, but the series is like chewing on glass. Good skin, bad banana.

The Amazon.com review summarizes the plot well, I won't reinvent the wheel. The first two episodes had me hoping it would pick up. The humor was ok, the characters were underdeveloped and one-dimensional, but had potential to actually go somewhere. But by the third episode, it was clear that the guys who invented the series had no idea what to do with it. Nudity's fine in and of itself - but here it's just a cheap distraction from a poor storyline.

The poor synth music that is supposed to support the atmosphere in the series just added to my misery.

Around the fourth and fifth episode, when the main character Makoto (who was whisked away from earth to El Hazard) finally meets another main character, Ifurita, the series approaches interesting. Then the writers demonstrate that 'interesting' is beyond them.

El Hazard's artwork is occasionally beautiful - I can't sell it short when it has earned that. The second series _is_ better than the first, but it's like a revision of the first series, and that's why. Most people can learn from their mistakes, so it's no credit to the studio that they improved on a product from scattered fragments to mostly broken.

A comedy should have more humor; an action movie should have more (and better) action. A romance or a drama should have some realistic characters and some multilayered relationships. A porn should be erotic, and an epic should be at least slightly ennobling. This series fails, and it fails on at least 6 levels. It is pure escapism - at least, it aspires to be; it won't even help you escape. Buy 12 Kingdoms, and stick it out past the first few episodes of that (it becomes excellent), or buy Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion. If you've seen all them, wait for something else worthy - don't capitulate to low standards from Anime Studios.』
『Encounter a world of wonder and fantasy! Three high school students and one of their teachers are mysteriously transported to the magical world of El Hazard. There, they discover hidden talents, lost technology, an empire of sentient bugs, and enough adventure to fill a lifetime! The long-awaited DVD compilation of the seven original El Hazard OVAs and the four OVA's from El Hazard 2 are finally here! From the writer of Tenchi Muyo and the animation studio behind Bubblegum Crisis, Tenchi Muyo and Ah! My Goddess comes another side-splitting comedy of epic proportions filled with beautiful women, strange enemies and action-packed adventure!』
『The seven-episode OAVEl Hazard: The Magnificent Worldbegan the popular comedy-adventure that encompasses the 13-part broadcast seriesEl Hazard: The Alternative Worldand the four-episode OAVEl Hazard 2: The Magnificent World. Director Hiroki Hayashi is the co-creator ofTenchi Muyo, and both series focus on strong, outrageous female characters who fight for the affections of a dense but well-intentioned hero; in this case, Nanami and Shayla-Shayla over Makoto. Makoto lacks Tenchi's charm and secret powers, but the hard-drinking teacher Mr. Fujisawa balances the flakiness of Tenchi's father with genuine strengths. In the ruins beneath Shinanome High School, Makoto encounters Ifurita, an ancient, mysterious entity who transports him to the parallel world of El Hazard. She also takes the scheming Jinnai, Jinnai's irrepressible sister Nanami, and Mr. Fujisawa. The Earthlings find themselves in an elaborate sword-and-sorcery tale involving the Eye of God, a super-weapon created by an earlier civilization. Balanced against this threat are comic interludes that include Makoto posing in drag as the Princess Fatora and Jinnai making himself ruler of the insectlike Bugrom. The plot has an odd, circular structure in which the climax sets up the action in the first episode.El Hazard 2picks up the action, but much of the story feels like a rerun: the characters deal with similar problems, and the threat comes from another terrible weapon, "the Trigger of Destruction." The many fans ofEl Hazardwill welcome this set, even though it contains no supplemental material. Rated 13 and up for drinking, mild profanity, and violence.--Charles Solomon

(Wonderful!)
『I love this series! The World of Narue is so sweet and cute. When I saw the dub cast I had to give this anime a try. And I'm so glad I did. It left me smiling all the way! Pretty animation, great cast, and talk about bonus features! The World of Narue IMO is a real treat for Anime Fans! =)』

(Good, ...But Not "Full Price" Good.)
『.

[Reposted. I wanted to bump up my star rating from 3 to 4.]

"The World of Narue" is entertaining. There isn't really any story arc between any of the 12 episodes. Mostly it's about a boy and a girl in their early teens who find friendship with each other. The girl, Narue, just happens to be half alien, or "from outer space!" as they say in the series.

The series comes close to addressing some issues that kids in their teens come up against. Things like being the "unpopular" ones, and finding friendship where they least expected it. One girl, Yagi, is initially on a mission to prove that Narue is 'not' an alien. The other kids call Yagi "Sci Fi" because she's obsessed with UFO's and the like. Yagi and Narue later become fast friends, though we could easily have guessed that would happen.

I bought my DVDs for $30. I was unaware that the full price was $72. I would not have spent the $72 for it. "The World of Narue" is worth the $30 at least. I see Amazon has used ones for around $19. Narue is entertaining enough to buy for that price.

(A direct hit to your heart--well, almost.)
『One of 2004's biggest surprises was this charming 12-episode TV series, THE WORLD OF NARUE. Gorgeously animated and populated with a very believable cast of characters, the show is a classic "boy meets girl" story with many twists and elements thrown in for good measure. There are even pop culture references--which include (in the English version at least) a hilarious spoof on Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Narue Nanase is a fourteen-year-old girl who lives with her father in a rundown apartment. She's not normal, however; it takes us about three-quarters of the way through the first episode for us to realize that she is, in fact, an alien from outer space. When Narue rescues a young boy her age, nerdy yet sweet Kazuto Iizuka (who, by the way, is very similar to Jean in NADIA: THE SECRET OF BLUE WATER), it sparks the beginning of a beautiful relationship and, naturally, the expected obstacles that occasionally threaten them.

Like most classic Anime shows, it's the character development that gives THE WORLD OF NARUE its heart and soul. Narue and Kazuto are both very likeable and pleasant protagonists, and if their puppy love sometimes comes across as a tad too saccharine, the well-rounded supporting cast somehow prevents the show from falling into treacly territory. There's Masaki Maruo, Kazu's zany (and outrageously funny) best friend, who doesn't know a thing or two about dealing with the opposite sex yet has his heart in the right place. And then we have Kanaka Nanase, Narue's "younger, older" sister who possesses a nasty kick and an occasionally mischievous nature, yet her outgoing friendliness quickly wins our hearts.

My favorite of the supporting cast, though, has to be Hajime Yagi, a self-proclaimed expert on UFOs who changes a lot more than the rest of the cast does. When we first meet Yagi, she comes across as a sullen, sulky young girl who doesn't believe Narue is really an alien and tries to expose her as a fraud. She also tends to be adversarial around Maruo when he tries to reach out to her. But we learn later that this is all a mask to cover her insecurity and loneliness, and, as the show progresses, Yagi eventually changes her attitude and becomes friends with Narue.

As colorful as the cast is, however, THE WORLD OF NARUE is, alas, far from a perfect series. The problem does not lie in the production values, which are stunning and colorful, but rather, in the story structure. The concept of an alien learning how to deal with ordinary situations in real-life is one that offers a lot of potential and interest for fans. Sadly, one of NARUE's primary shortcomings is its failure to delve more deeply into the idea. Instead, it serves to give fans exactly what they demand from usual Anime shows--introductory sequences for the characters that serve over five episodes, occasional story arcs, and filler fare.

And while many of these side stories are very entertaining, one of them--which involves Narue trying to win Kazu back from a bitchy voice actress at a cosplay contest--is a complete waste. Here in this episode, Kazu, usually a caring and considerate fellow, suddenly becomes a jerk and ditches Narue in favor of getting an autograph from the aforementioned voice actress. Not only is this story bizarrely out of character, it's poorly written and sloppily executed--every bit as bad as those unbearable island and African episodes from NADIA. A better idea would have been to do a heartwarming Christmas episode.

That isn't to say that THE WORLD OF NARUE is worthless; in fact, it's absolutely delightful as a series, but what would have elevated this show to classic status might be an even deeper analysis of the ups and downs of life as told from an outsider's point of view. And it's disappointing that a show as entertaining as this could make the unfortunate mistake of playing it safe rather than taking risks.

For Central Park Media's part, though, I have nothing but compliments for their presentation of this series. The video quality is above average, and the audio tracks are very well mixed. The show is laid out over four discs, each of which is packed with extras, including a lengthy documentary on the Big Apple Voice Acting Idol Contest, where the champion, a talented young actress by the name of Michele Knotz, got the role of Hajime Yagi. Her performance, by the way, is my absolute favorite of the English version; she really does bring out Yagi's troubled yet sympathetic qualities and projects a lot of energy into the role. If this bravura example of voice acting is any indication, Knotz could very well be on her way to becoming a talented actress in the future.

Speaking of the dub, I have to say that this is one of Central Park Media's finest efforts so far, ranking up there with my favorites from them such as LODOSS WAR, SLAYERS, and ANIMATION RUNNER KUROMI. Veronica Taylor is delightfully sweet and adorable as Narue, Jimmy Zoppi is outrageously nutty as Maruo, and Rachel Lillis delivers yet another bang-up performance as Kanaka. Jamie McGonnigal's Kazu rubbed my ears the wrong way upon my first listen (he sounded way different from what I was expecting), but after a while he grew on me. Rounding out the cast are some more multi-talented performers, including Lisa Ortiz (in two hilariously villainous roles!), Angora Deb, Carol Jacobanis, and Dan Green. But as mentioned, it's Knotz's Yagi who takes the cake. She really is that good.

While THE WORLD OF NARUE falls short of classic status (and would have been better off without that stupid cosplay episode), there is no denying that the show has an enormous charm, with lovable characters and irresistible entertainment (not to mention occasional fan service) throughout. In short, it's a direct hit to your heart!』

(every girl thinks she's a princess)
『Now there's no need to wait for individual volumes - you can get the entire epic all at once! Narue is an adorable school girl with a secret. She's really an alien with powers right out of a sci-fi comic book. Join our spunky heroine as she faces androids, alien invaders, and her first date with a boy next door. It's the sci-fi comedy that's direct hit to your heart.』

(Great Box set for fun show)
『In a nutshell, definitely worth it. This became one of my favorite shows when I first saw it, and I was taken by surprise at how well CPM actually treated this series with their box set. The 4-DVD set is extremely well done, with tons of extras (including actors commentaries, directors commentaries all subtitled), and contains everything you'd need. Also, as someone who really hates English dubs, I was surprised at the quality of the dub, especially with the leads.

For those who don't know the show or manga series, it's a great gentle romantic love comedy that tries to be as real as possible, given the fact that the girl (Narue) is half-ailen. The characters though, are made to be like real people, not characatures, making the show much more enjoyable.

14yr-old Narue Nanase is half-alien, half-human. Her human mom died when she was little, and she lives alone in a run-down apartment with her (alien) dad, who came to Earth 14 years beforehand as an observer. Because Narue knows she's half alien, she's always kept to herself, and never made any friends. Others in class don't believe she's an alien, and mock her. Though she knows her father was born in space, Narue loves the Earth, and wants to stay (as to her, Earth is home) and hates it when the Galaxy Federation pesters her to go to school in space, because she's half-human too. But not just the Galaxy Federation want her to leave: there's an alien terrorist group that will use violence to get them to leave, and that causes trouble. Thankfully the one thing Narue can do is teleport with the help of a special headband connected to an orbiting ship. With Narue and her dad being very poor (as now the dad has taken a normal Earth construction job) Narue is responsible, and very, very thrifty. Knowing she's half-alien, she keeps to herself, and has no friends.

Kazu Izuka: the same age as Narue, he goes to the same school. Friendly, average guy, not popular, but not shunned either. A bit of an otaku (anime fan) but not overboard. When Narue saves him from an alien terrorist, he instantly falls for her, and doesn't care that she's half alien (he's just happy he has a girlfriend). Basically an easygoing, honest guy.

Hajime Yagi: a girl in Narue's class who is a total Sci-Fi nut (aka, a walking X-Files). She can't stand it that Narue claims to be an alien, because she insists aliens have tenticles and look like the pictures in her book. But she's not bad, as you'll later discover.. a latch-key kid, she doesn't have any friends either, except to absorb herself in her books. A great character.

Maruo: Kazu's best friend, and Yagi's neighbor. He's always liked Yagi, though Yagi doesn't notice (to her, Maruo's just a childhood friend and neighbor).

Kanaka Nanase: Narue's younger "older sister. 100% alien (same dad, different mom), Kanaka would be 12 years older than Narue, except that when she travelled to earth she didn't age as time on Earth did, so she arrives still being 12 years old, making her younger even though she's an "older sister". Sometimes can be bratty, but deep down, a nice person.

There are plenty of other characters as well that I won't go into here (including a starship in love), but I hope the above give you an idea of the setting of the show.

However you should know that the series doesn't focus so much on the sci-fi angle, but rather the characters themselves, and the relationship between them -- making it nicely refreshing. Kazu-chan is the first boyfriend (or friend for that matter) Narue's ever had, and Narue is the first girlfriend Kazu's ever had.

Nothing groundbreaking in this show, but it's just a nice, enjoyable time. There's just something about the characters and the gentle humor that make me enjoy watching this over and over (everything from the way Kazu's mom and older sister act when Kazu brings Narue to his house, to the "first date" episode -- where things don't follow the tired "fall apart" route other series will take.

Just a very nice show, well done all around. You should know there are a few panty shots (fan service) but they're brief (no pun intended) and do NOT reflect the tone of the story (it's like they were almost obligatory). A nice, fun little romantic love comedy for everyone, packaged extremely well by CPM. Take a chance on this one, you'll like it.』
『In this charming sci-fi romantic comedy, Narue is an adorable schoolgirl with a secret: She's really a superpowered alien! But growing up is never easy, and our spunky heroine faces androids, alien invaders, and the most terrifying challenge ever...her first date with the boy next door!』
The World of Narue(2003) combines elements of two popular anime genres: teen romance and magical/alien girl. Fourteen-year-old Kazuto Izuka is good-hearted, nerdy middle school student whose life turns upside down when he meets Narue Nanase. To Kazuto's amazement, this pretty, unassuming girl likes him. Although he's willing to overlook it, she does have one minor problem: she's half alien. Her father was an inspector for the Galactic Federation working on Earth when he met and married her mother. The mismatched pair begin a shy romance, despite the advice of Kazuto's friend Maruo and the interference of UFO fanatic Yagi. Voice actor Jamie McGonnigal imbues Kazuto with a warm appeal that recalls Tenchi inTenchi Muyo!, rather than Ataru inUrusei Yatsura(both young men faced with attractive aliens). Narue (Veronica Taylor) is naive to the point of simplicity, but the attraction is understandable. Unfortunately, the screenplays by Yuka Enatsu and Yuu Sugitani don't really develop the romance or the possibilities for adventure and comedy the situation offers. There are some genuinely funny moments when Kazuto introduces Narue to the anime "Magical Girl #4," a spoof ofSailor Moon. But the series never goes much of anywhere, despite the charm of the characters.

The four-disc set comes loaded with extras, including comparisons of both the original manga and the storyboards with finished animation, brief interviews with American and Japanese voice actors, and Japanese trailers and commercials. (Juvenile, oh so juvenile)
『I know tastes differ, but I'm having a hard time understanding the high praise others have given this series. Based on those positive reviews, I purchased the set, but am so very dissappointed. With almost no real plot or character development, every episode seems to have only one purpose -- fanservice for adolescent boys into really large breasts. The only reason I gave it two stars rather than one is because, bad as this series is, there are worse out there, and I wanted to distinquish between bad and really bad. Not recommended.』

(Fan Service and great nostalgia)
『The Godannar seriers is a throwback to late afternoon anime cartoon, but with a slightly adult twist. Nothing too risque for viewers above the age of 14 but you would have to see the sheer humor in it. I found it to be an enjoyable series to watch.』

(Aaahhh. It's alright.)
『Perhaps I am just new to the Mecha Anime. I haven't seen too many of them before. I just don't much care for a show that has to have charactors that scream the name of the move every single time they use it and unless it includes an abundance of fan service I can't stand the every episode repetition of the same 45 second sequence of the main charactors robot merging with another charactor's. Got kind of old so I started fast forwarding through them.

If you like these sorts of anime's cool, buy it. If you are not sure rent this first and see if it's something you are into.』

(Light-Hearted Mecha Anime But No True Greatness)
『I got this expecting a light-hearted humorous mecha anime. I'm sad to say it wasn't that much of anything yes there are mechs and robot fights in this show as well as a lot of fanservice enough to get sick of in as little as three episodes. While I knew there would be some fanservice it just seemed to me that the people who did this show just kept to that area and did not give much else such as a true character development for anyone. The show tries to give you some background stories for some of the characters like Anna and Go but all in all you really start to not care for any of them to much which is sad to say as they could have done such a better job with this series. The video is widecreen format as well as 5.1 English audio and 2.0 Japanese audio you don't get many extras just some previews on the first disk and some text-less intro/ending songs. So if your looking for a mecha anime but with a touch of humor I say go for Full Metal Panic this series is spectacular sadly unlike this one...

(Awesome, Rad, Incredible, take your pick...)
『Girls, Giant Robots, Fights, Explosions, that's a recipe for ALL three of my title words... VERY FUNNY, highly entertaining, and even emotion gripping (if you get into it like me) tho not too much. BUT, if you don't like that stuff, or Anti-Gravity women parts, then this show isn't for you...』
『Five years ago, as the Mimetic Beasts laid waste to Japan, Dannar Pilot Go saved young Anna Aoi's life. As they prepare to march down the aisle, a new Beast appears and Go is summoned into battle once more. But he's not going alone---not if his blushing bride-to-be can help it! If they can mate their robots' interlocking parts, they'll form the ultimate marriage of man, woman, and machine!』

(More Laughs&Fun with Ranma and the Gang!)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R11AI9XC2UQZBZIts hard to believe that its been over 20 years since Ranma first hit TV screens, but it is true. In season five the madness continues as Ranma and Akane's relationship develops and progresses. Of course, it never goes full circle. The animation is still a bit on the sloppy side, but to its credits the animators have adapted the character design of the OAV series. So Ranma is drawn a bit more on the beautiful side so to speak.

This is such a great series to watch if you wanna relax and enjoy a good laugh. Its a must have for all Ranma fans.』

(Charming and fun)
『As long as you don't expect plot and great story you will find yourself enjoying the Ranma 1/2 series. I find myself watching them when I just want to relax and smile. It is an easy series to sit down and watch an episode or two.』

(The fifth season of Ranma 1/2)
『Ranma 1/2 Martial Mayhem is a DVD box set of the fifth season of Ranma 1/2. This set contains a total of twenty-four episodes. The first four discs contain five episodes, while the fifth disc contains four episodes and the special features.

The special features menu contains five options: "Line Art Gallery," "Textless Opening," "Textless Ending," "Cast List," and "Actor Profiles." As expected, the textless opening and ending are just the opening and ending credits without the text. The line art gallery contains model sketches of the characters that appear in this DVD box set. However, I don't know how many pages of sketches there are, because no page numbers were included in this feature (which had been the case for the previous Ranma 1/2 DVD box sets). The cast list is a list of the English and Japanese voice actors for each character. The actor profiles are selected filmographies for the English voice actors. It should be noted that, unlike some of the previous box sets, that the English names that appear in the cast list are not links to their entries in the "Actor Profiles" area. In my opinion, I thought that Viz Media was putting less effort into the DVD extras in this set than they had on the previous DVD box sets.

Ranma 1/2 Martial Mayhem is a rather "low frills" DVD set. While the special features are better than what appeared on the first Ranma 1/2 DVD box set, I wish something had been done that took a little more effort, such as interviews with the English voice actors, or character profiles for the characters that appear on the box set.

Ranma 1/2 Martial Mayhem tends to run between $40 and $50 at retail. While this could be considered a little high-priced for what you get, the episodes are still worth the cost. The series is very enjoyable for an older audience (16 and up), and really should be in an anime fan's DVD collection.』

(The Humor and Entertainment Continue With This Great Series)
『I still remember when I started getting this series for the first time at first I thought it would turn out to be a stupid comedy with no likability, and how wrong I was as this series turned out to be truly entertaining and funny to watch. The series is very light hearted as the main characters are Ranma a young teenage boy martial artist who had the unfortunate accident while training in China to fall into a cursed pool at jusenkyo that turns him into a girl when dosed with cold water and can only change back with hot water, and Akane a young teenage girl martial artist whose father is the master and owner of a martial arts dojo and is Ranma's betrothed fiancee which neither Akane or Ranma knew that their fathers had set up. Of course sparks fly between the two betrothed at first and not love sparks especially when Akane at first thinks Ranma is a girl(Seeing him in girl form when they first meet) and than realizing what has happen to him after Ranma's father explains about the accident. The series of course has a gaggle of other characters trying to woo Ranma and Akane to them and some of those characters have themselves been cursed by the pools of jusenkyo. The video is decent but not as sharp and clear as recent animes have been but that's a little understandable as this series started around 1989 and finished around 1996 so most of the animation won't be as up to par as with the animes in the past ten years. The voice cast for both the subbed and dubbed are great and memorable in their roles as they played them incredibly of course the one major change was the male voice of Ranma was changed in season four so if you have the previous three season sets you'll of course notice that one difference but no worries as that doesn't make that much of a difference. So if you're tired of the dramatic and serious anime and are looking for a more light anime here's a great choice to check out for you home anime library...』

(all time favorite)
『It is very interesting about this season 5 Ranma 1/2. The series has been improving in story, character designs from one season to the next season. Needless to say, the story is hilarious. The character's action, gesture, speech are the icons of Takabashi Rumiko sen sei's animation. From Urusei Yatsura in the 80's to some latest works, her skills are praised and even imitated by other creators.』
『From Rumiko Takahashi, creator of Inuyasha, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma½ is one of the most recognized and acclaimed anime series on the market today!

It's not easy being teenage martial artist Ranma Saotome, but it's even worse when your martial-artist father Genma takes you from home at an early age to go on a decade-long training mission. He doesn't speak a word of Chinese, and yet he insists upon bringing you to the cursed training ground known as Jusenkyo, where falling into one of the many springs there instantly turns you into whoever--or whatever--drowned there last. And then, the two of you have this little accident...

From now on, a splash of cold water will turn your father into a giant panda, while you...well, you turn into a red-haired (and problematically well-built) female version of yourself. Hot water will reverse the effect, but only until the next time. What's a half-guy, half-girl to do?

(Another Winner)
『I have seen and own both Seasons 1&2 of Maria watch over us, Season 3 has not disappointed me although I wish the there were more OVA episodes at least they are an hour long. I am happy the way characters have developed and grown if the had just stood still I would not have waste my time or effort to buy this series. I was most impressed that a larger amount of time was spent away from school and viewing their lives in the real world not to mention meeting the parents. I cannot wait for season 4 to be released and I hope that it will be this year I will buy it without a doubt. I hope [...] reads this review! "And takes the hint." I have to say that if they re-release the series with an English dub I will have to seriously consider purchasing it to compare the voice acting.』

(Slowly-paced, dramatic series - but worth the patience.)
『Maria Watches Over Us Season 3 is much like the previous two seasons of Maria. The show is very leisurely, and very "feminine." There isn't a lot of action. Lots of talking. No sword/gun fights, explosions, or gratuitous fan service here. Look to My-HiME for that.

Maria, however, is a very carefully developed, well-written series. It exists entirely in its own dimension, it's very overdramatic - i.e. failing to make a good impression on another character could be the end of the world. The artwork, as in the previous two seasons is excellent, and the soundtrack is refined. Calming, classical compositions that fit the mood of the series perfectly. The voice acting is also wonderful. The specials are a nice bonus, but they aren't as good as those of the previous seasons.

As with the first two seasons, the dilemmas faced by the characters involve one another, and Yumi, the protagonist, is constantly fretting over pleasing Sachiko. Season 3 is much more focused on Yumi+Sachiko, and developing their relationship, so if the pairing annoyed you before, then this isn't going to be your favorite season. For me, as much as I find Yumi slightly annoying, she's hard to dislike - though she grows a little more irritating this season. On the other hand, we learn more about Sachiko's character and she becomes more "bearable." The third season definitely has some moments that will go down in Maria history as classics, I'm sure including one involving a panda.

What is nice about Maria is that it handles girlxgirl romance with a subtle class and delicacy that is lacking in many other shows, which tend to sensationalize the sexuality of the characters. Maria Watches Over Us isn't an extremely "exciting," action-filled show, but the care and sensitivity with which it treats its characters and subject matter is a breath of fresh air that makes it engrossing in its own right.

For those who are new to the series, this is a good place to start, though I would recommend watching the previous two seasons to familiarize yourself with the characters and soeur system. If you enjoyed the first two, then Season 3 is a good bet.

Highly recommended.』

(Great)
『I love this show even though it may be a bit confusing if u don't understand it :)』

(Cute show)
『A light yuri type romance that takes you on an emotional ride from happy to sad.』
『The Season 3 DVD Collection will feature the five-episode OVA (original video animation) and five specials that comprise the series third season. It is also the third of several season box sets scheduled for the North American DVD release of Maria Watches Over Us. Each set features Japanese audio, along with English on-screen translations, and two English-language subtitle tracks: one with regular dialogue subtitles and a second, special subtitle track that retains the Japanese honorifics. Additionally, each set will includethe specials comedic shorts that depict the series characters in chibi form for its respective season. The Maria Watches Over Us anime is based upon an ongoing series of novels written by Oyuki Konno and illustrated by Reine Hibiki that began in 1998 and currently spans 33 volumes. Short stories related to the series have been published in the shoujo (girls ) magazine Cobalt, and a manga adaptation was serialized in the anthology magazine Margaret. The series publisher, Shueisha, also produced 14 drama CDs (featuring radio-style plays). The anime adaptation of Maria-sama ga Miteru also referred to by fans as MariMite encompasses two, 13-episode TV seasons, a 5-episode OVA (original video animation) as its third season, and a fourth season, which is currently in production in Japan and scheduled to air during Winter 2009. The first three seasons of Maria Watches Over Us feature animation by Studio DEEN (Fruits Basket, Gravitation, Rurouni Kenshin), direction by Yukihiro Matsushita (Blue Dragon, Sugar Sugar Rune), and scripting by Reiko Yoshida (Aria, Boys Over Flowers, Story of Saiunkoku). About MARIA WATCHES OVER US (Maria-sama ga Miteru) Season 3 - Summer has arrived, and the students of Lillian Girls' Academy are on break! These rich and snobby debutantes don t think Yumi is worthy of Sachiko's affection, and they re out to make this summer one she'll regret. Contains the complete 5-episode third season (OVA), plus specials 1-5.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Not quite the amazing masterpiece it used to be, but that doesn't make it bad)
『Most people who come into this most recent Guyver series, has probably been witness to the glory of the classic Guyver ovas and movies from the early 90s. Though, nothing made has really caught up with the original manga. All 3 guyver movies had mostly conclusions in them, but only the OAV movie even resembled the manga at all.

Well here comes the new series, hoping either to catch up or even conclude the guyver series. Though....does it succeed? Kindof, but not really. As of now, there are 26 manga books out for the guyver, and this series only goes up to the 10th. Anybody who has watched the original series from the 90s will figure out, this series doesn't go much farther than it honestly. While yes sure, this does very much so follow the manga, but thats ultimately its downfall as well. Think of a normal shonen like a dbz, sailor moon, or inuyasha where you can just about predict everything. If a battle can't be won, some new technique has to be used. There just really isn't a sense of emotion or a connection. Though if you watch the original series, everything just seemed to blend in. It felt more like a Berserk or Ninja scroll than dragonball. Not saying its bad this way, its just never really exciting.

Which mentioning more comparisons to dragonball, this series has a dramatic loss in gore. The oav and the ovas were some of the most gory animation you could ever watch. Arms flying off left and right, a few snipits of nudity, and some mild cussing. Though, this is toned down for more of a early teenage audience. Of course, its not pokemon or anything, but you'll deffinately notice the difference. Its almost bothersome actually.

Though, here comes the most bothersome thing about this set. Be prepared to turn on the japanese audio, even if you HATE subs. Yes, I do like english dubs for the most part. Though, this is PATHETIC! Just go search up the next episode previews for instance. The actor sounds BORED TO DEATH! Though ADV originally produced this anime, and they are notorious for bad dubs but nothing this bad. If only funimation went back and redubbed the whole series...

Keeping in line with audio though, the music. Well, its kindof dissapointing. The opening song Waiting for.. isn't too bad, although the singer sounds a bit bored. Though the ending song, is HORRIBLE! Its something you would think to have in a inuyasha. Anybody who remotely knows guyver should know, it doesn't focus on any big love storys. Sure, there is one, but it doesn't force it on you. Well, the background music is ultimately a disaster. Every anime now seems to have to have a big orchestra. Think of something like Rocky, where theres a big build up and then it hits you hard emotionally. The original series, oav movie, and guyver 2 did a great job doing that. Though...this series always tries to have real heavy ballad music, but it ultimately makes you not care about it at all.

So ultimately, I'd give this a rental or a borrow. Its certainly worth 1 or 2 viewings for the story alone, but not worth keeping in your collection. Its certainly not the worst thing out there, its just compared to anything guyver related before it, its disappointing.』

(Not what it used to be.)
『I guess I'm the only reviewer who actually bought the dvd set. I am a huge fan of the old series and I bought this new one hoping for more of the same, it had a TVMA rating so I had my hopes up. Turns out this dvd release is an extremely tamed down version of the show, it's a Funimation release after all. Remember watching DBZ on Cartoon Network and they would cut away any time someone was about to get punched and only show the reaction shot? Yeah, a lot of the same here. I am totally disappointed. Thanks to all the piracy websites out there I can't even find a thread of people talking about whether or not this is a censored release or if it was really animated without any ultraviolence.

Anyway, if you want Guyver for what it used to be, skip this. If you're cool with the made for tv guyver, snatch it up. The dvd is still good for what it is, but it's not what it's supposed to be.』

(Excellent, But Curious)
『This latest version of Guyver is truely a MAGNIFICANT work of anime. I enjoyed the revision of the story line. It does answer alot of questions I had before, but now my questions have been answered and explained somethings that I missed. The main music theme for The Guyver, Waiting For... by Yo Reiri, is HOT. I loved this song so much that I actually bought the soundtrack and play this song at least four times daily. But I wish the Japanesse writers would continue this version with an conclusional ending. I think its kind of crude to remake the Guyver, each time, only to add more details about the characters lives and not come forth with an ending. I have been a FAN of anime since 1990 and love every year of it, but recently each anime have been increasingly known to stop without a conclusion. Its beginning to get irritating. Although irritated, I will always LOVE anime and The Guyver.』

(Out of Control)
『Well I have been a fan of the Guyver sense I came across it at blockbuster yeeaaaaars ago and they had all of the VHS tapes and I rented them all. That is when I became a huge fan. It was really the first anime I really got into. I don't have this boxset but I do own the ADV release with the series box to put all the DVD cases in. I was very happy they got into a lot more detail unlike the 12part OVA and it went through I think volume 7 of the manga if I am right? If your a fan of the Guyver and you don't have this I highly recommend getting this. Or if you're looking for a new Anime that has to deal with some sci-fi/action then check this out. I really hope for a 2nd Season...only time will tell. I was very pleased when I heard about this because I was sure Guyver was dead after the 12 part OVA. So let's cross out fingers and hope for at least another 20 episodes or so...』

(A Great Revival To A Classic Anime)
『I have to sat that I agree on two parts a lot of people have said about this series is that both the animation and voice actors both subbed and dubbed are greatly improved from the 92's Guyver OVA episodes. The one other thing I enjoyed for myself is that the bloody and gory battle scenes are still in the show. So for anyone who has young kids who feels that any bloody scenes or grotesque killing shots isn't appropriate for their kids might want to stay away from this show. If you've seen the OVA episodes or read some of the manga it keeps pretty much with those story lines for the most part, also unlike the OVA episodes which tried to cram so much of the story plot into just twelve episodes that a lot of questions got unanswered the new series answers most of them. So if you like the sci-fi animes like the Gundam series or Full Metal Alchemist I say this series is worth a try for you...』
『A world controlled by a sinister brotherhood who hide their fangs behind masks of humanity, known as the Chronos Corporation. While investigating a mysterious explosion near his school, Sho Fukamachi happens upon the Chronos Corporation’s greatest weapon: a techno organic suit of bio armor known as “the Guyver.” But Chronos is determined to conceal their secrets at any cost. Sho soon finds himself relentlessly pursued by its army of horrific bio-monsters. With nowhere to run, Sho is forced to call upon the fearsomepower of the Guyver and rip his opponents limb from limb in a desperate struggle.

Experience this all new production of this sci-fi anime legend in the most complete rendition of Guyver ever animated. Dare to discover the horror that lies beneath!』

(Great Series but poor sound)
『The story line and character development is top notch as is the art work. The only disappointing and unbelievable part in the series is how dense the "good guys" seem to be. Saiga and the police captain always seem to wait around for the bad guys to get ready and wound up before they start fighting/attacking the bad guys. This usually results in them getting their "cans" kicked unnecessarily.

The other very disappointing thing in this version of the series, and the reason I deducted one star, was the poor sound quality. The background music is always so loud that you have to really crank up the volume to be able to clearly hear the dialog. Of course that means you get your ear drums blasted when the fights and attacks break out or one of the characters starts yelling about something. So you're continually fiddling with the volume control.

All in all it's still a great series with an intriguing plot.』

(Dark, gritty, truly mature anime series)
『This is a highly recommended series for those seeking a well-conceived yet dark, violent, and gritty mature anime. Unlike another series I panned for injecting awkward sex scenes in vain pursuit of recognition as a "mature" title (Moonlight Mile), the presence of such scenes and also violent imagery are specific to the tale being told here. A tale centering on the excesses and decline of Japanese society but most importantly that of those in the most powerful positions...and in the most general terms how some others choose to try to right these wrongs and/or preserve at least some pockets of innocence in the world.

Leads Saiga and Kagura are always compelling, with a complex relationship not least due to heroic photojournalist Saiga being significantly older than teenaged Kagura. Don't be misled though, as this otherwise boundary-pushing show treats this relationship with proper caution and respect. Not to spoil things, I will just note that from beginning to end and indeed as a primary motivating force for the tale, Saiga only seeks to do right by the innocent Kagura.

Not so innocent but also fascinating characters include Saiga's (very) aggressive girlfriend Ginza and an always interesting batch of main villains led by the mysterious and manipulative Suitengu. The plot includes some biology-oriented sci-fi, so expect exciting action and disturbing creatures as the delivery mechanism of much of the aforementioned violence.

Judging the DVDs technically, the high point of the series is the 5.1ch sound effects and English voice acting. Christopher Sabat (Saiga) and Monica Rial (Kagura) really bring the goods here, and there is no weak actor in the entirety of the supporting cast.

Nothing is perfect however, and Speedgrapher does suffer from something that might cripple a lesser union of story and character: sometimes truly weak animation. This issue most infamously manifests in earlier episodes, where automobiles are surprisingly badly animated. Other episodes might show oddly sparse and simply environments. The show is still largely well-animated, just with surprising lapses coming from the studio that produced the likes of Solty Rei and Last Exile.』

(Grimy Awesomeness)
『Speedgrapher is a gritty grimy adventure into the underworld of Tokyo as it is in this series. Greed and sex fuel most everything in the series. The series is kinky beautiful and messes with your head.』

(Trendbreaker)
『Unlike most of your shoot em up,drama,or harem anime speedgrapher takes a more sadistic look into the life of the Japanese elite. Now this is a very different anime, I couldn't press the buyer more to watch a few episodes on youtube before buying this series. The series is about a young girl who has special powers and a cult that worships her, the catch being that the cult is filled with the rich, and very very naughty. In exchange for money they can do whatever they wish in an underground layer, to be quite honest most of the men just use it as a brothel. A older man rescues her, and the weirdness ensues as the club crumbles and tries to recapture thier most precious asset. Like most anime a love story is involved, but this one has a older man being a cradle-robber, and ruining his love life with a woman most men would die for. It is not one of those happy lucky star style anime, it leaves you saying this is like the lain series but with perverse creepiness and a cradle-robber as the main character. It will leave you saying wtf every time.』

(I took a gamble and lost)
『First a little about me to give you an idea of where I'm coming from; I'm 25 and have enjoyed various anime series' over the last ten years. I just watched Elfen Lied and loved it. I enjoy all kinds of anime including darker and more adult series'. I purchased this box set after reading the 4 and 5 star reviews of its predecessor and I wonder what they were watching because it was horrible. The animation was hit or miss and at times was absolutely horrible. The story was poorly executed and just plain boring. The box set itself isn't bad, it lacks extras but it has all the episodes with both Japanese and English vocals and English subs. It's a good price for 26 episodes but the series IMO isn't worth watching let alone owning. Animenewsnetwork has a more in depth review and they gave the series a C +/- at times (they reviews the individual DVD releases). I would give it a D-』
『Smile for the camera… or perish in the glare of its lens.

It’s been over a decade since the Bubble War, when the global economy burst. The rich got richer, and the poor were out of luck. Welcome to Tokyo, the city where all the winners came to jerk each other off. If you’ve got money, you can buy anything your sick mind can dream up. If you don’t, youjust try not to get crushed beneath the wheels. Only the wicked rule here.

Enter the Club, a secret society pandering to the ultra-rich and fulfilling their deepest desires… legal or otherwise. Sent to infiltrate the underground elite, Saiga, once a renowned war photographer now reduced to tabloid journalism, stumbles upon a depraved ceremony and discovers the ultimate beauty in Tokyo’s darkest catacombs. With a tragic young girl named Kagura in tow, Saiga flees from his enemies and his own inner demons. A single kiss has ignited a chain of events that could force the entire ruling class to their knees.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(Always character driven)
『I'll admit that I never saw Black Lagoon until I bought the Second Barrage (second season) set. The previews looked good so... I guess Revy is a little more psychotic in the first season and the Lagoon Co's relationship with the Russian Mafia (Hotel Moscow) is a little more cozy.

In spite of the murder and mayhem the writers do take the time to let the characters act and react to matter-of-fact situations. You find out about the characters more realistically, not by seeing their life story but in seeing how they handle any given predicament, large or small. This might seem like a minor point but if you're creating an anime series it takes a certain amount of guts to throw in character building dialogue and scenes that have nothing to do with sex or blowing somebody's head off, especially if you know that's the stuff many fans are looking for.

Black Lagoon is based on a manga comic series and it sounds like season 3 (at least as written) is re-introducing the super-killer maid Roberta seen in the first season. The first Roberta arc tied up nicely so I'm not sure seeing her again is a good thing. She borrowed quite a bit from "Terminator" and the "El Mariachi" movie series.』

(Beyond Great Anime, Great Cinema)
『This review is for the entire series. I have been watching anime since I first picked up a copy of "Battle Angel Alita" and then Ghost in the Shell from my local Blockbuster back in the early 1980s. Some anime is exceptional, some is not very good. This anime transcends its media and approaches cinema art. I was glad to hear a third series is in the works and is scheduled for release next year.
There is no need to describe the series any further than has been done in previous reviews and there is a very good detailed synopsis on Wikipedia.

I claim this is great anime for the following reasons:

1. The art work is outstanding. The viewer is routinely treated to incredibly detailed scenes like a view of the city from the harbor, the symbolic damaged idol, a blue butterfly from a boy's flashback. If you are a fan of weapons and equipment, they are drawn in incredible detail and accuracy in a Joseph Wight tradition. You will not be disappointed in the quality of this anime. Disney should take notes. While the series is compared to Cowboy Beebop due to its action nature and episodic style, visually it is far superior

2. The story lines are a collection of short stories that follow chronologically but can stand on their own. Unlike an anime like Ergo Proxy, you can spend an hour watching a few episodes and get a complete an entertaining story. Like in real life the stories are simple and full of action, but the characters are complex. There is quite a bit of philosophy snuck in, like Sartre, but it does not come across as pretentious or bog down the stories which are incredibly fun and mainly light hearted. The scenes are unashamedly cinematic.

3. The characters are complex. The viewer will not be spoon feed. With the exception of Rock, you never get the whole story about these characters. They all have their secrets. I especially like how the character "Revy" is allowed to be psychopathic, without an attempt to explain it away. The viewer's questions are left unanswered as to why the characters do all the things they do, just as we are in our relationships in real life. I appreciate as a viewer being treated as an adult without a 5 minute monologue of amateurish psychology attempting to reconcile aberrant behavior that all too common a tedious scene in anime. They are criminals like the Sopranos; I do not need their actions justified. In addition, the guest characters are incredibly rich. Fan favorites includes the assassin "Chinglish" who takes offense to Revy pointed out her broken English, and "Sister Edda", the nun equivalent to Revy. Every moment they are on the screen is a pure delight.

4. The sound track especially the intro is bold and fresh, as Revy quotes in one episode "It's not Jpop". Really sets the tone and gets your blood pumping.
As a warning to the creators of this anime, I will mention my only perceived negative I found in the series is by the end of the second series, Rock was being given way too much time and dialogue. The series ended with the character Rock wallowing in the way too typical young man of anime angst. If this continues in the third series it will kill it. The series is at its best when Dutch and Revy have most of the dialogue. As the creators appear to become more interested in the characters they have created, Rock is beginning to behave more like Shinji Ikari from Neon Evangelion and Revy's personality disorders are getting dangerously close to be explained. If that should happen the mystery of the series will be gone, and so will end the series. The first episodes worked so well because when Rock began to wallow in his typical Japanese anime guy angst winning, Revy or sometimes Dutch would cut him off either verbally or sometimes with a good punch. Some of my favorite scenes are when Revy is able to appropriately point out how ridiculous Rock's morbidity is. Too many anime's like Evangelion are heavily damaged by their young male characters winning about their indecisiveness. It's like some sort of adolescent male menopause.

With that said, if you are an anime fan, you should consider ordering this series if you like great characters, great animation, and great fun; this could be the very best anime series to date.

(Classic)
『This show is just awesome. A truly classic anime like cowboy bebop. It has amazing over the top action with a mix of great storytelling. A must even if you are not a anime fan.』

(Looking for a complex action anime? You found it!)
『I was really lucky to come across this series and after watching it I am perplexed as to why it is not much more popular than what it is. I know I am probably going to get creamed for this, but with it is hard for me to understand that Cowboy Bebop Remix, Volume 1 is super popular and Black Lagoon is as obscure as it is. Don't get me wrong, I really like Cowboy Bebop, but this is at least as good, and in my humble opinion, even better.

The series is based on a straight-forward concept. An office worker is kidnapped by a band of modern pirates and ends up joining them and becoming an outlaw himself. But then, this simple idea is complemented by an rich set of characters, interesting relationships, fine humor and a lot, and I really mean a lot, of action.

I really wish more people would get exposed to this series, since this shows how much can be done with anime, and also because it deserves to be successful. For my part, I'll add my grain of sand by recommending it without reservations.』

(Great action and lots of dark humor)
『First off, I was really impressed with the production values. The animation and sound was top notch. There was none of that cost saving corner cutting, which really adds to the overall feel of the show.

Secondly it's a really smart script with complex characters and tightly written plots.

Third lots of nifty violence, but with a black comedy twist.

Don't go in expecting Cowboy Bebop, although there are similarities Black Lagoon is a lot darker. You might like both. Cowboy Bebop is one of my all time favs too. However I find the two shows to have distinctly different flavors.

One thing that appealed to my inner philosophy major was that underlying theme of the whole anime is nihilism(Revy) v existentialism(Rock), which philosophy is more realistic--but without a single descent into academic angst or mention of a philosophical term. It was all fast paced action with a few comic turns on the surface, and can be appreciated on just that level, but there was heavy epistomological debate going on underneath. Personally, I thought that was pretty cool.』

『Best Action Anime of 2007- Anime Insider

Rokuro Okajima is meek, mundane and metropolitan. His business trip to South East Asia turns from pleasure cruise to festival of pain when modern-day pirates board the ship and take him hostage. Revy, Dutch, and Benny are merciless, maniacal and mean. Together, they make up the crew of the Black Lagoon. They are the exact opposite of Rokuro in every way but one... A mercenary group out has targeted them to steal the data disc that Rokuro had, and with it, classified information that threatens the peace and security of the entire world! Amen. Hallelujah. Peanut Butter.』

『The action-adventure seriesBlack Lagoon(2006) exemplifies the continuing confluence of Japanese and American filmmaking. Rokura Okajima, a minor flunkey in a powerful corporation, thinks his life is over when he's kidnapped by pirates. It's only his business career that ends: he joins the pirates as "Rock." The trio of Dutch, the understated leader; happy-go-lucky techie Benny; and trigger-happy Revy becomes a quartet, although Rock struggles to find a place in their shady underworld. They're less pirates than soldiers of fortune, ready to do anything if the price is right. Dutch, Benny, and Rock are fairly typical anime types and form a credible team. But murderous, potty-mouthed Revy has all the appeal of a rattlesnake in an Easter basket. This less-than-jolly crew pursues adventures involving treasure aboard a sunken WWII U-Boat, pornographers, drug and arms dealing nuns, kidnappings, and a terrorist plot to blow up US embassies. Bullets, blood and four-letter words fly, but it doesn't add up to much. The gun battles, car chases, knife fights, and explosions take up so much screen time, there's none left for character development or a coherent narrative. Although it's based on a manga by Rei Hiroe,Black Lagoonfeels like a cartoon version of a Hollywood blockbuster. Extremely violent and profane,Black Lagoonis not for the squeamish or easily offended. (Unrated appropriate for viewers over 17: graphic violence, violence against women, extensive profanity, grotesque imagery, alcohol and tobacco use, racial slurs, offensive ethnic stereotypes, Nazi imagery, offensive religious imagery)--Charles Solomon
