However, I do agree that the fact that only the first 60 episodes are being released does take away from the excitement of buying the collections. Unfortunately, I have bought both these collections and I just found the entire series including the entire hades and death of hades sagas for the same price. Its in spanish but I don't mind, because I actually prefer anime in spanish, the voice acting in spanish is way better than english. I have a friend that will buy the two collections I have so it's a win win for me.
So, I you want the entire series, don't buy this collection. Try to find and import, if you don't mind reading subtitles or if you speak spanish or japanese. If you don't care about getting the entire series then go ahead and buy this collection, you will enjoy watching an epic anime.』
(Do you feel the power of the cosmos!?) 『Well I had missed the first printing of the Saint Seiya collection sets and I have to say it is nice to have a reissue to be able to get a series quickly and easily instead of having to look all around for it or going through imports. As for the series itself it is an awesomely wonderful piece of '80's anime. The series is presented uncut so all the blood and fighting is kept intact. The series tells the tale of warriors or "Saints" chosen to contest for the golden armor. (The plot changes as the story goes on) Each saint is given an armor pertaining to a constellation. Along with individual armor each saint battles with a set of signature moves pertaining to their constellation. A great set for anyone who likes '80's or '90's anime and I hope there is more to come.』
(this is ridiculous) 『Please do yourself a favor and just buy the import. I bought the entire series for $30. I can't believe it has taken them this long to just release the same 5 discs over and over. This is the 3rd printing of these same episodes unless you count Knights of Zodiac then it's actually the 4th. Gimme a break!!! I don't think any of us should buy and more saint seiya dvds until they release the entire series in one boxed set. How have they not figured out that what we want .. jeez. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!』
(What is this all about?) 『Yes I appreciate the cover looks prettier than the ones before, but other than that this so-called collection 1 seems excally the same content with the one released on Feb 2006, the same title "collection 1" and the same contents "750 mins" and the same features for sure. Anyway the point is with all this time wasted to release the same contents with just a different cover, why can't they just spend some time to work on the remaining episodes, like for example keep trying to convience Toei to liscen the remaining arcs so that we can enjoy the entire show ?』 『Studio: Adv Films Release Date: 01/13/2009 Run time: 750 minutes』

Reminds me of the film the Mist, where the protagonists are battling aliens yet the real monsters seem to be the humans.Yes there are aliens(you will be surprised at the aliens)and very deep social morals in every episode. It has gore, profanity, and nudity too.But if you are mature and you love women, that shouldnt bother you or distract from the point of the series. Its a series in which the main characters have very real personalities and they grow as the series goes along because they have to make some strong decisions like taking lives to save lives.I really felt like I knew the protagonists more and more as the series progressed. Its too complex of a plot to describe more and I feel like that could cheat the viewer.Gantz is really just pure genius and might be the best anime ever. Its two seasons( 3rd season one day?), 26 episodes in an ultra cool black sphere(yes the dvds are safe from getting scratched),the english dubbing is the best Ive ever heard, great animation. This show will stay on your mind for sure whether you like it or not and may even make you value life more.Well worth your time and money.』
(A Very Mixed Bag) 『This series is a very mixed bag. If you can handle the over the top vulgarity, obscenity, and gore there is actually a good story lying beneath it all. The story is both the best and worst part. See, it's a great story, but the anime ruins it. The last disc is comprised entirely (save for the first episode on it) of non-manga made up story. It gives a very sloppy and absolutely ridiculous ending, and never ties a single thing up. This is a pretty series, it looks great, and is fun to watch, but it will leave you running for the manga.
The case itself is fairly nice. The top of the ball pops off to have this little fold out holder for the discs. No complaints here.
In closing, this is a fun anime if you don't mind some very vulgar moments. If you like the story I recommend the manga so you can see what actually happens.
I give it: Visuals: 5 Sound: 4 1/2 Story: 3 (needs the manga!) 』 『A tsunami of blood, guts, and stone-cold nihilism make GANTZ the most notorious and controversial anime series of the 21st century. Now, just in time for the holidays, ADV salutes this cavalcade of ultraviolence with the Perfect Score Collection! Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A complete box set of the second Star Blazers series) 『Star Blazers - The Comet Empire - The Complete Series 2 Collection is a DVD box set that contains six DVDs. All twenty-six episodes that comprise the second Star Blazers series are included. Unfortunately, Voyager Entertainment did not go to as much effort to remaster these episodes as they did the episodes for the first series. This means that the audio can be rather soft and muffled at times, and the picture quality is also grainy-looking at times. Some of the discs have problems with the navigation menu; if you select a section of the episode you want to see and watch it, the disc will return to that menu instead of continuing on when you reach the end of the section.
The first disc contains the first five episodes of the series, as well as three bonus features. The first bonus feature is a "Star Force Crew Roster"; this has a page for each character that includes their name, a write-up about them, what their name in the original Japanese series is, and line art pictures of the character. The second feature is "Planet Earth 2201 A.D.," which includes pictures and write-ups of the city where the Earth Defense Forces are stationed and the offworld operations taking place. The third bonus feature is a preview for the second DVD of episodes for the second series.
The second disc contains four episodes, as well as four bonus features. The first bonus feature is "The Faces Behind the Voices"; this is the first part of an interview with Ken Meseroll and Eddie Allen, the voices for Derek Wildstar and Desslok. The second bonus feature is "Star Force Equipment"; this has the names, pictures, and descriptive write-ups for the equipment used by the Star Force and the Space Marines. The third bonus feature is "Inside the Argo," which explains the modifications made to the Argo since the journey to Iscandar. The final bonus feature is "Desslok and the Gamilons," which explains what happened to them after the end of the first series, and includes character bios and mecha details.
The third disc contains four episodes, as well as four bonus features. The first bonus feature is the second part of the interview with Ken Meseroll and Eddie Allen. The second bonus feature is "Comet Empire: Masters and Underlings"; this includes names, write-ups, Japanese names, and line art for the major characters from the Comet Empire. The third bonus feature is "Comet Empire: The Fleet," and it includes names, pictures, write-ups, and measurements for the major ships in the Comet Empire's fleet. The final bonus feature is "Comet Empire: The Arsenal"; it's a lot like the bonus feature about the fleet, except the focus of this feature are the various fighter ships and tanks.
The fourth disc contains four episodes, as well as three bonus features. The first bonus feature is the first part of an interview with Tom Tweedy and Amy Howard Wilson, the voice actors for Mark Venture and Nova. The second bonus feature is "Planet Telezart," which includes pictures and write-ups about the planet, Trelaina, and Trelaina's home. The third bonus feature is "Comet Empire: Gatlantis City," which includes pictures and write-ups about the various sections of the Comet Empire (the city on top, the lower hemisphere, and the Dreadnaught Battleship).
The fifth disc contains four episodes, as well as three bonus features. The first bonus feature is the second part of the interview with Tom Tweedy and Amy Howard Wilson. The second bonus feature is "Earth Defense Forces Personnel," which gives the name, write-ups, and Japanese names for the Earth Defense Forces personnel. The third bonus feature is "Earth Defense Forces: The Fleet," which includes names, write-ups, measurements, and pictures for the Earth Defense Forces fleet and the battle satellite.
The sixth disc contains the final five episodes of the series, as well as two bonus features. The first bonus feature is "Tactical Maps," which shows the positions of the Comet Empire forces during various parts of the series. The second bonus feature is an "Interactive Mission Map," which shows where each episode took place, and provides write-ups for what happened in each episode.
While the audio and video mastering for this set was on the disappointing side, I would still recommend it to Star Blazers fans, because it is the only way to get these episodes on DVD.』
(Star Blazers !!!!!! WOW The Memories !!!!!) 『I remember watchin these cartoons when I was a youngin !! and now I found them , Right here on the greatest site in the entire world !! AMAZON.COM !! These people that own this site are the greatest for lettin me relive my child hood 1 more time !! So far I spent Big bucks through out my shopping experience here !! and I love it !!! Specially when they carry My favorite cartoons ?? STAR BLAZERS !! ha ha ha STAR BLAZERS saved the world and AMAZON saved me from gettin old HA HA HA KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AMAZON !! I LOVE YA !! I wish I could get the rest of the STAR BLAZERS cartoons ??? Hopefully this economy turns around and fast !! too』
(The Shows Of 1982) 『In that year Howard Stern and Star Blazers made a big impact on me, both shows had an ability to do one thing and thats keep it real. In this series the Starforce is reunited to save earth from the eveil Prince Zordar who cant wait to get there and destroy it like the many worlds that were destroyed along the way. This was a great follow up to series 1,in some way Wild Star reminds me of Stern when he takes on the Earth Defense Headquarters and how a group of people are willing to back him when he beleives that earth is in great danger.
If you are a fan I urge you to buy this second series, the only problem I had was the audio in some shows but other than that what great memories.』
(Deeper Plot lines then I remember) 『I remember this series as a student in fifth grade. I loved the space ships, loved the action, loved the wave motion gun. I bought it purely for nostalgia and recently watched it. I was impressed by the deep plot lines and sub-text that runs through out the show. The messages of duty, sacrifice and honor where all there, and as a child I was introduced to these concepts and I am sure it made an impression.
You can grip about the transfer, and the American cuts (the parts that were cut out are floating around somewhere.) But you can't quibble with the story. 』
(Forewarned...Forearmed) 『The Star Blazers/Comet Empire Saga is a classic, epic, dramatic anime masterpiece. A follow-up to the Star Blazers/Iscandar Quest storyline, it is a sequel of great merit (in terms of plot, characterization, art, and musical score). Voyager Entertainment transferred the Iscandar Quest onto DVD and produced a winner in terms of video and audio quality, DVD extras, as well as packaging. Is it reasonable to expect the same production values in this Comet Empire DVD release? Yes, but you won't get it in a most crucial respect. I specifically refer to (and condemn) the audio "quality," which is abysmal and worse-than-mediocre; in fact, I was shocked to encounter such poor, smothered sound. And if you ever find that you are too, Yamato fan, try contacting Voyager politely, but firmly about this surprising and significant flaw; I did. And maybe you'll get an explanation; I didn't. Moral: Think twice before you invest in this expensive set from Voyager--your dividends will never be maximized with the product in its current, disgraceful form (released November 5, 2002).』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Adorably cute) 『This DVD had it all---romance, drama, slapstick moments that had me holding me stomach from the laughter, and a good dose of mystery. Sunao and Sora were adorable, as was their relationship, and I found myself cheering them on despite the obstacles in their path (namely Sora's obliviousness and Sunao's many secrets), and celebrating when in the end love triumphed and saved the day. I recommend it to all who like a good laugh with their anime (but who can also appreciate the appropriate dark moments as well).』
(So Cute!) 『I really loved this series. It's rather short compared to many other anime films i've viewed, but the depth of the storyline that is contained in only 3 disks is amazing. There is a lot of guy x guy, but not so much for it to be completely inappropriate for teens wanting a bit of yaoi. It's not 'fluff' , but it's not too hardcore. I love it!』
(Cute and funny) 『Sukisho is a short anime about two boys with split personalities. To explain without spoilers... Sora wakes up one night to a boy being... let's just say aggressive... toward him, demanding to see someone named Yoru. Didn't go so well. When he wakes up in the morning, he finds a the same boy named Sunao, who has no idea what Sora is referring to when the confused boy confronts him about that night. Turns out that Sora and Sunao were frineds, but an accident earlier that involved Sora falling from a building has erased his memories. As the story progresses, you find that their past, and their relationships (theirs and their alternate egoes) are more complex and involved than they could ever have imagined.
It's a cute series with a lot of laughs and decent voice acting (japanese). Plus, there's a plot that has a little bit of substance to it, and what's not to love about that. I just wonder where all the women are in that world.... Mysteries...』
(Too Cute and Wild Hair) 『Warning for fan girls/boys right now, this is super soft core yaoi. There is a kiss every now and then, and thats about it.
If you weren't looking for intense boy love, this anime is super cute and good for a laugh. (Or in my case a lot of laughs.) It takes a while for the plot to really get going and become even the least bit understandable. Keep with it and just enjoy all the little side plots and humor.
The only downside (besides lack of hard yaoi) was all the names starting with 'S'. Poor me got a little confused.
Very cute, if you want a good laugh, go forth and buy it!』
(A MUST-SEE!! DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!) 『I LOVE the premise, characters, artwork, voices, etc. It is so much fun to watch. Funny, with really engaging main characters, interesting episodes, intrigue, etc. Don't read too many reviews - the surprises are the best part! If you enjoy yaoi at all, THIS IS A MUST-SEE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by a picky viewer! Definitely WORTH THE MONEY! There are a lot of episodes and even a fun OVA.』 『Sora fell from the roof of his high school and was knocked unconscious. When he finally awoke, he found a kind-hearted boy named Sunao waiting over him. Sunao claims to be his best friend, but the fall erased some of Sora's memory. He doesn't remember Sunao at all, the wide-eyed young man acts like much more than just a friend. From that day on, Sora begins to experience flashbacks in which he is not himself, but a mysterious alternate personality with hidden powers. He begins to search for the secret of his lost memory and the flashbacks, but will Sunao be his companion, or his enemy?』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Yuyu Hakusho: Dark Tournament boxset part 2) 『Excellent installment in the series, just what I would expect after watching the previous episodes!』
(Ghost Files) 『The story moves pretty quickly without the lag. For the first few disks I completely forgot about the Japanese version even being on the disks and watched it in English. In the Japanese version the character introductions are a lot better, and a little more explanatory. Team Urameshi is shown in a different light in the subbed as is Keiko.
Life for these teens refuses to settle down, as Spirit World makes a chilling discovery. The Toguro Brothers faked defeat Yusuke's last case, in an elaborate plan by the trillionaire Sakyou. Noew Togure will hit Yusuke with a terrible threat.』
(Absolutely great product) 『I found the Dark Tournament saga, was a great way to continue from Spirit Detective boxset, where Urameshi and friends get forced in to battles against other teams. The only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 is because the Special Features don't change much, apart from the details about the characters in each disk.』
(Part 2, 5 Stars, Part 1, 4 Stars) 『Personally, out of all of the missions, I probably loved this one the most. Even though, the later ones are more exciting, you have to love this. 81 bucks for the first six volumes of the Dark Tournament is a very great deal!!! As for me, I got them when they first came out. (with a higher price) But, I don't want everyone else missing this deal. The reason why I would give 4 stars and not 5, is because these aren't the most entertaining battles. This set includes the first 3 of 5 rounds in the Dark Tournamet. Plus... there are a couple battles from Round 4. I didn't find Round 2 entertaining, yet it was emotional. However, Round 3 was very entertaining. As for Round 1, it was good but not great. Trust me though... this is one excellent deal. So buy it for $81 at Amazon.com!!!』
(Lame) 『Its very boring and unrealistic. You baciscally got to be tripin balls to get the point. its wird that the grim reeper would be a perky up beat girl that rides a padle. The hero is a greasy street punk with wird hair. Basically the only reason i gave in two stars is because sometimes they say funny things. If your a little kid you might like it but if your older you might want to expand your horizons.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (An exercise in JAPANESE AWESOMENESS!!!) 『I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS SERIES!!! I first saw the preview of this while watching the DVD Bloodhound: The Vampire Gigolo, Vol. 1 --another teriffic supernatural comedy series from Japanese television. I was hooked from the preview alone. It was created by Japanese filmmaker Takashi Shimizu, known for Ju-on/The Grudge, Marebito, and many other films. I would describe it as sort of a SPOOF of asian (and some American, with a Men In Black reference) horror cinema. It pokes fun at almost everything you've ever seen in an asian horror flick. It also tackles many Japanese folktales and legends as well. But, it also has a central story at it's core. YES...IT'S A SPOOF WITH A POINT/PLOT!!!! It's not at all like the IDIOTIC "Scary Movie" series in the U.S. So if you're looking for that type thang...you may not like it. Also, if you don't like Japanese cinema or television in general you may wish to rent this instead of buying. The humour is definately what I'd call CHEEZY-JAPANEEZY in all of it's kooky glory. So, fans of the asian horror&comedy genres will really enjoy it I think. For others...just stick with the Wayans Brothers. (Ok...they do have their moments too. LOL)』
(Very funny, in its own way) 『I just came here to check if a Season Two was available of this show and alas, it is not. I also noted the price - $35.99 for the first season. I'm humbled to say I saw this 3-disc set, brand new in a Big Lots store for $2.99 and bought it on sight last week. I saw that the Director was Takashi Shimizu and I love his movies. I also noted that it was a Japanese TV series mixing horror and comedy, which appealed to me.
The show is crudely produced, with silly, cheesy effects - both visual and audio, but the show is still a great watch.
It centers on a traditional Japanese family [father, mother, younger daughter, older son, and a set of grandparents], who purchase and move into a supposedly haunted house. The father is oblivious to the strange goings on, although he is the most interested in spiritual matters, hauntings, UFO's and the like. The grandfather dies of a heart attack after discovering the spirits and energies in the house before [actually, WHILE alerting the family members]. As a spirit in the house, the grandfather summons the son and explains the house is haunted and only he can save the family from the horrors in store.
Thus is the premise the series is based on. The performances are hysterical, the camera effects and sound effects are funny, the stories are laughable and silly, but also thought provoking.
I don't watch american network television precisely because most of the shows are crap and appear to be written to a 13-18 year old demographic. This show is completely opposite - it seems written on an adult level, and then is presented and produced to appeal to a wider range.
Again, I say the camera angles, camera work, camera effects and audio effects are cheesy, but they work to the series benefit. I love ALL Asian culture and this is no exception. I love the interplay between the family and the relationships between the characters. Some of the characters are too funny for words [the Necromancer (and his younger brother who says certain lines in English) are absolutely HYSTERICAL. The Grandmother who is always eating, shoving something crunchy in her mouth with a blank look on her face or sipping tea is exquisite in her role. The Goth Lolita made me howl, as does the character who is a knock-off of The Grudge character - with all the hair. Additionally, the father [the role and the actor] - are excellent.
Again, this is NOT american television, so if you're looking for "Friends" or similar type productions, you will be disappointed.
But I found myself watching all 13 episodes back to back, as well as the extras [over two hours worth], along with all the commercials plugging the shows, as well as 'making of'. For $35.99 I'm not so sure, but again - I only paid $2.99 for the set and after viewing, I would have paid eight times that amount for the laughs I got out of it.
Not american television [a good thing] but I will be looking for a Season Two. Mr. Shimizu - I love your work, both movies and television, and would welcome any opportunity to work with you as an actor on ANY of your projects!』
(Surprise! It's pretty good.) 『When I bought this I was under the impression it was a little known anime show in the vein of the Addams Family. I was wrong! This was apparently a live-action TV show which aired Japan from 2004 to 2005. I was initially disappointed, but it was my fault for not researching the product before cold-buying it.
The Imawano family moves into a new house which has the reputation of being haunted. On the very day they move in the grandfather, Fuchio, dies leaving behind his wife, his daughter, her husband and their two kids. That night the grandson Kiyoshi (played by Issei Takahashi) is sent a note from Fuchio telling him to meet him in the room behind the Unopenable Door at 2 AM. When he does, he discovers his family is psychic, allowing them to sense spirits and apparitions, and will be faced with a great catastrophe in the near future. Furthermore Kiyoshi, Fuchio says, is the only one who can stop it.
The show uses cheap special effects and the camera used is obviously for TV; it has a look which I can't quite describe but which seems to be common in Asian, and non-US, TV shows. Still, the storyline is interesting and it has some really laugh worthy moments. It plays up the stereotypical female ghost with long hair gag for as long as that works, but then changes it up by throwing some very unusual spirits and apparitions in too. By the middle of the first disc Yokai monsters show up. It's hard to go wrong with Yokai monsters!
If you can start this show off with optimism and a love for low-budget effects, and appreciate even forehead slap inducing puns, this show might be something worth checking out. I'm glad I did. And, honestly, that was the surprise.

(Same old extras?? And ends at 50... Mada mada dane...) 『The review for The Prince of Tennis Vol. 4 is pretty much the same as Vol. 3...the second season Japanese open/end are still missing and replaced with first season's. Ironically, intrumental U.S. opening was adapted to include episode scenes in episode 48, just like the Japanese...would have been nice to be able to see it with the original "Driving Myself" when watching the Japanese version on the DVD though. Same trailers since Vol. 2 also. And the DVD ends with episode 50, which just so happens to be the last episode shown on Toonami Jetstream before it was yanked off this week (1/14/07 exactly, the day before the DVD release)...which makes one wonder if the show is still being dubbed, or if not, will The Prince of Tennis continue to be released on DVD in only Japanese (which would be great if they just picked up where they left off), but I would hate to have to buy the first 50 episode over again to get the rest... 』 『A 3-disc set with 13 episodes of your favorite sports anime! The second half of the Metropolitan Matches begins! Kikumaru and Oishi start their doubles match against Yamabuki Junior High's Higashikata and Minami. Oishi confronts the same pair that he was unable to beat in last year's match. Sengoku counters Momoshiro's signature dunk smash and the match slowly shifts in his favor. Finally Ryoma's match with Akutsu from Yamabuki Junior High begins. With all the trouble Ryoma encountered with Akutsu a few days ago, everyone is worried for his safety!』 『As the second season of theshonen(boys') sports seriesPrince of Tenniscontinues, the team from Seigaku Middle School competes in the Metropolitan Tournament, an major step toward their ultimate goal, the Nationals. The training is grueling, and anyone who slacks off has to drink Inui's vile "penal-tea" health potion. Ginka Junior High, coached by the wily Banji, ranks as their most serious foe. Seigaku's "Golden Pair" defeats Ginka's "Plain and Simple" duo in doubles, and upbeat Takeshi "Momo" Momoshiro overcomes muscle tremors to beat "Lucky" Sengoku. Not surprisingly, the outcome of the tournament hinges on the final match between seventh grade star Ryoma Echizen and Ginka's older, bigger bully-in-residence Jin Akutsu. Although he behaves like a thug, Akutsu is a gifted athlete and a cagey player: he's the most dangerous challenger Ryoma has faced. Seigaku captain Tezuka calls the match a contest between Akutsu's pride and Ryoma's courage, but much more is at stake. As the face-off continues, Coach Ryuzaki sees Ryoma improving, but his spiritual growth outweighs his athletic progress: he moves from "samurai junior to samurai." Ryoma's discipline and dedication embody the traditional virtues ofbushido; Akutsu's cruelty and arrogance represent their negation. A junior high tennis match becomes a moral duel comparable to the battle between Kenshin and Sishio inRurouni Kenshin. Coach Ryuzaki has Ryoma, Momo, Inui, Tezuka, and their friends training for the next tournament the day after their victory in the Metropolitan. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (An OK box set, but a little disappointed with the special features) 『Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Ultimate Collection is a six-disc DVD box set that includes all twenty-six episodes of the series. This set just takes the six individually released DVDs and bundles them into one package. The first and third discs in the set each contain five episodes, while the remaining four discs each contain four episodes.
Each DVD contains the DVD credits in the "Extras" menu. There is also at least one other extra included on each disc. The first disc contains a voice actor commentary on the fourth episode from the English dub voice actors for Priss and Linna. The second disc has three voice actor commentaries. The sixth episode has commentary from the English voices for Mackey and Nigel, the eighth episode has commentary from the English voices for Daley and Leon, and the ninth episode has commentary from the English voice for Nene. The second disc also includes character biographies, textless versions of the opening and closing credits, as well as previews for other ADV releases.
The third disc in the set has three voice actor commentaries. The eleventh episode has commentary from the English voice for Linna, the thirteenth episode has commentary for the English voice for Sylia, and the fourteenth episode has commentary from the English voices for Priss and Linna. The fourth disc has commentary on the sixteenth episode from the English voices for Sylia, Priss, Linna, and Nene. There is a gallery of concept art for the hardsuits (however, this feature is labeled as "Character Sketches"). "Vehicle Technology" has pictures and explanations for the mecha that appears in the series. There are voice actor profiles for the Japanese and English voice actors for Linna, Priss, Sylia, and Nene. The textless opening and closing are included, as well as ADV previews.
The fifth disc has a video interview with the English voice actors for Sylia, Priss, Linna, and Nene. However, the audio on this feature has a tendency to fade in and out, especially on the voice actor for Linna. A question is posted on the screen, and they cut in the answers from each of the voice actors. The sixth disc includes two voice actor audio commentaries. Episodes twenty-five and twenty-six both have commentary by the English voice actors for Sylia, Priss, Linna, and Nene. The textless opening and closing are included, as well as ADV previews.
In some respects, I was a little disappointed by the bonus features. However, if you are a fan of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, this set would be worth purchasing to have all of the episodes in one set, instead of purchasing each disc individually.』
(You know) 『There are people who don't like this show simply because it is not the original Bubblegum Crisis. They should call up the people who hate Battlestar Galactica because it isn't the original and have a party. As for me, I'll stay home and watch me some good sci-fi!
When it comes to cyberpunk, there are only a couple of classics that really nail what it's all about. In the west and the live action department, we have Blade Runner and the Matrix. In the East we Ghost in the Shell (the movie, and the excellent first season of the tv show in particular), and this awesome show that just screams classic in every way if you love sci-fi action with cyberpunk overtones. I started to watch the first Bubblegum Crisis and got bored. I started to watch this show and got hooked. It tells a story of a Tokyo of the future that's crawling with humanoid robots called Voomers (boomers?). Everything would be great except...every once in a while the robots go bezerk and try to kill people. And that's where the heroes come in.
The Knight Sabers are a group of girl vigilantes who destroy Voomers gone awry. In the first episode a country girl moves into town wanting to know about the Knight Sabers, manages to track them down, and joins up! And so she joins a techie nerd girl who works for the A.D. Police (police who take care of Voomer problems), a rather butch rock-singer biker chick named Priss, and their rich-girl employer in their night-time cyber-crime fighting. All that would make for a great show alone, but this show just exceeds expectations in every way.
Every character has a deep personality, a complex backstory, and great voice-acting (especially in the incredible English version which is easily up to par with Battle Athletes Victory and Princess Nine for top ranking in greatest dubs ever) to go along with some really snappy dialog. The first time through you'll enjoy the characters and the story (which is much deeper than you'd expect and has some great plot twists), but each time I watch this show I like it more. The relattionships between the characters, the great action sequences, the high-budget animation (easily OVA quality), and awesome music (yes, I do own the awesome soundtrack cd with all the Japanese songs and printed out the BIO for the singer), just get better and better with each viewing. And speaking of audio, if you really like this show, the defnitive version is the Essential Anime version, which features audio commentary with the voice actors and director (the best commentary in any anime I've ever heard), and a great 5.1 surround remix of the English audio. And at something like 9 episodes each, it's also a great value.
If this show has a flaw, it's the unevenness of the show. It starts out an edgy comedy-action/light-drama with light horror elements (the core of the Voomer that they have to destroy looks an awful lot like a heart, and the first time the protagonist Leena tries to fight in a simulator she's terrified) , turns into a pretty much straight-action show, and then becomes horror again (armies of Voomers that look like zombies assaulting a police station) with heavy-introspection (mind-linking with the mother of all Voomers who is hacking the Knight Saber's minds while they fight in the vaccuum of space). If you aren't ready for it it might be enough to derail it for you. If you can hang on for the wild ride you'll find one of the most deeply satifying of anime with strong female protagonists, great action, wonderful storytelling, fantastic Japanese Rock music, and top notch writing and direction (the anime was produced with cooperation between East and West).
This is one of the few shows where you'll watch one episode and end up watching the whole disc in one sitting (one episode flows directly into another like it's one long movie). One of the best anime every produced, and definitely one of Pioneer's best. If you loved Battle Athletes Victory, or especialy Generator Gawl, and enjoy cyberpunk, you owe it to yourself to watch this show. It's awesome. 』 『Studio: Adv Films Release Date: 11/25/2008 Run time: 650 minutes』

The art styles change throughout the show and the characters are some of the most lively. My favorite comedic episode was 12 because of all the american parodies that went into the title. I only have one disappointment with the series. At the end it seemed to end really quick. Though called the final episode it was extremely good and then after the credits there is a preview for a new episode called mystery. I looked everywhere for the episode, but no luck. I will say that if you like parodies and wacky slap stick comedies. You will love to watch this show.』
(Great show. Great case.) 『After opening the metal tin the show comes in I realized just how funny it would be. The show is about two best friends, the boys' dad, his grandpa, and some weird french guy who I think is suppose to be his uncle or something. Anyway, the grandpa falls off a building and the kids wind up in a different world but still in the "shopping arcade" that they grew up in. They have to defeat a goblin in each world so it will send them "home" but it always seems to go wrong and they wind up in another world. Very funny show with some serious points too.』
(No matter how much geek knowledge you possess) 『If I had to describe "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi," it would be simple: "Fooly Cooly" as written by Lewis Carroll.
That's only a glimpse of the explosive weirdness and insanely cracked-out madness that fills every episode of this wacky anime series. And while "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi: Perfect Collection" starts off a bit slowly, this brilliant series soon blossom into an acid-tripping flower filled with constant spoofs, genre cliches, and lots of fanservicey breasts.
Sasshi is unhappy -- the Abenobashi Shopping Arcade is being bought out for demolition, and his friend Arumi is going to be moving away. Fortunately they are distracted from their impending separation by a series of mysterious animal statues all throughout the Arcade.
But when Arumi's grandfather is badly injured and the bird statue is smashed, Arumi and Sasshi find themselves sucked into a freaky D&D-video-game-esque fantasy land, where they are called upon to defeat the stereotypically Evil Lord. Unfortunately, Arumi spends all their money on a mysterious charm by a blue-haired sorcerer, and Sasshi keeps getting killed by the insane, scantily-clad Mune Mune.
Each attempt to get back home sends Sasshi and Arumi to another cracked-out variant of Abenobashi -- a mecha space station with a hulking mecha, a Chinese martial-arts competition, a Flintstonesy dinosaur age, a noir gangster story, a dating sim, the ultimate girl fantasy land (or so Sasshi thinks!), a deranged warzone, and a frenetic mishmash of every movie Sasshi has ever seen.
But where did all these crazy worlds come from? Who are Mune Mune and the grumpy sorcerer Eutus, and what is their connection to Sasshi? The secrets of the shopping arcade are revealed even as Sasshi comes face-to-face with a tragedy that keeps him from letting Arumi go home...
"Neon Genesis Evangelion," martial-arts, "Dragonball Z," medieval S&S fantasy, hard-boiled noir, "Monty Python" ("My old wound from the WAR!"), war movies, "Indiana Jones," and even "2001: A Space Odyssey." All of these get spoofed and/or lovingly homaged -- not to mention minor tropes such as shouting anime attack names, or the little details ("But it's standard BGM").
The first half or so of the series is pretty much a steady stream of wacky spoof mayhem, peppered with endless fanservice (Mune Mune's mostly-nude getups), repeated deaths ("I saw the beginnin' and the end of the UNIVERSE!"), and plots full of random and inexplicable twists ("I don't understand! Why am I a dumpling?" Sasshi moans after getting encased in a dumpling and sent off the top of a skyscraper).
But about halfway through, the insanity is threaded with an elaborate and rather sad subplot, involving the death of a much-loved family member, a legendary Omnyoji, and a centuries-old love triangle.
Sasshi makes a good hero for this series -- he's a die-hard geek who enjoys all the weirdness (including repeated deaths) and acquires some world-changing new powers. But the core of his personality turns out to be his desire to save Arumi from heartbreak. Arumi herself is a good counterpoint -- down to earth, steady, and a bit crazy by the end ("Let Sasshi know the torments of HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLL...").
And it has a pretty fun supporting cast, with the same family members playing out different roles in every world. The only exceptions are Mune-Mune (a loopy half-naked redhead whose true identity is a shock) and Eutus (a sorcerer having a midlife crisis).
"Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi" is a wild, tripped-out ride that mingles a fantastical coming-of-age story with chaotic spoofery. Delightful.』
(Hilarious) 『This is a great series for anyway who feels like having a good laugh at themselves or things they enjoy. In this series, Sasshi and Arumi are constantly being taken to mysterious worlds where the rules seem to be slightly off. From RPG and Sci-Fi worlds to war films, this series parodies and pokes fun at the various genres many of us hold dear. While we are going through these odd situations, there is a serious story being developed in the background that puts this above many other parody anime. As for the extras, I found the AD Vid-Notes to be helpful in getting some of the more obscure references made in the series and some of the notes are funny on their own. The outtakes for this series are amazing. They feature the voice actors re-recording lines over events that actually occur in the show. If you want to laugh I would highly recommend this series (1 warning, they use the Osaka accent = southern accent convention).』
(A must see for fans of Anime with a sense of humor) 『As the main characters bounce from reality to reality, you'll see every anime cliche spoofed in outrageous fashion.
From huge robots to dinosaurs to princesses and dragons to 1940s film noir detectives. It's all here and it all gets skewered. Meanwhile there is a serious story developing behind the scenes that is engaging in it's own right.
I recommend this series to anyone that loves a good story and likes to laugh at themselves.』 『In this classic send-up of anime tropes, two friends discover that their neighborhood shopping district is actually a portal to a series of parallel worlds! They're journey home takes them through magical kingdoms, giant robot battlefields, and lands where "fan service" is the rule of the day. It's anime's answer to Quantum Leap - except it's entertaining!』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Nitpicky complaint) 『I bought the house and the 3 volume set in separate purchases. The 3 volume set only fits in the house if you remove the outer box that contains them. I would have liked to keep the 3 volume set box, but my boyfriend is against keeping empty boxes around. So I had to throw it away. 』
(The best show ever...) 『I really love this boxset of Invader Zim. You get the three seasons and the Christmas movie, along with a bonus disc that gives you extras like the voice overs for the fourth season, a music player that plays the background sounds to the show, comentary with that mike guy, and I think an alternate version of the christmas movie. I was disappointed, however because it didn't come with the G.I.R. figure in the roof of the box. Overall the shipping was fast and the DVDs were intact so I can't complain for that, but WHY did they have to cancel INVADER ZIM!!! (cries patheticly) Anyway, buy this product maybe the'll realize what a mistake it was to cancel Invader Zim, and maybe, hopefully they'll restart it.』
(What's on this that I can't get on the Invader Zim Complete Invasion Box Set?) 『What's on this "extra" disc that isn't on the "Invader Zim Complete Invasion" Box Set???』
(***MISLEADING***) 『I bought this product for Christmas 2007. Unfortunately, I did not pay close enough attention as to what it was I was buying. No ones fault but my own. I didn't figure this out though until my second shipment because I called to get a repalcement. With the first shipment I had thought that I had been shipped an already returned product because it(the box) was not in the original shrink-wrap packaging and the "doll"/extras video and what I had thought to be included-the complete set of cartoons on DVD's,was not in it. So, hence my call to customer service for an replacement. I, of course, finally figured out once I received the new shipment that, "IT" was only a house-shaped box&extras DVD. What about the "doll", you say? Well, they apparently don't include that any longer as per the sticker on the boxs packaging. So, Yes, I was wrong in not reading the items full description, although, I still feel it is misleading. I hope my brain lapse will help someone else.』
(Nice box set) 『Its a nice box for your invader zim collection, its a shame the gir toy is no longer available but the box itself its a good quality and nice product』 『The Irken armada is poised to conquer the universe, but it would be a lot easier without Invader Zim! Thickheaded, brash, and overzealous, Zim has been banished into food service for wrecking the Irken home planet. He begs the almighty tallest for a second chance to reclaim his lost honor. Seeing the opportunity to rid themselves of this nuisance forever, they send Zim on a "secret" mission to a planet far away on the edge of the universe-Earth. Now Earth's only hope rests with a young UFO-hunting paranormal enthusiast named Dib. Seeing through Zim's human disguise, Dib makes it his sole mission to defend out planet from this fiendish alien menace.』
