(Great Prelude for Season 8 (Yes, Season 8))
『If you're reading a review for the 7th season of Inuyasha, you're most likely a committed fan and don't need much convincing as to whether or not you'll want to own this set.

And to clear up any doubts or confusion, there is most definitely an 8th season. Episodes have already aired in Japan. Do a google search or visit websites like Viz's, and see for yourself.

As far as this season is concerned the price tag isn't justified, but I still enjoyed the episodes immensely. The storyline moves the characters closer and closer to a final confrontation with Naraku, but the ending makes it absolutely clear that this will not be the end of the anime. Not a single aspect of the plot is wrapped up. And, as the announcement of Inuyasha the Final Act confirmed for me, nobody in their right mind possessing even the smallest shred of common sense would have allowed the anime series to simply end with episode 167 and the 4th movie. But, there are still many things to appreciate about these episodes. The storyline and plot progress in the same manner as fans have come to expect. And what I found to be particularly enjoyable were the episodes dedicated to individual subplots such as the two episodes dedicated to a closer look at how Inuyasha and Kikyo met, the episode featuring flashbacks of Sango and Kohaku's past, the episode where Shippo unleashes his arsenal of fox-demon magic with great and humorous success against his opponents, or the episode where Kagome's friends finally meet Inuyasha. Some people tend to label these as "filler" episodes. But I've always found that regardless of whether or not certain episodes were drawn from the Mangas, they've always managed to give the viewer a more in-depth, and often humorous, look at the characters and who they are. These episodes are no exception and help make the viewing experience entirely worthwhile.

Hopefully, this will help any undecided buyers. This isn't the end of the anime. And this is most definitely a worthy addition to the Inuyasha saga. I'm eagerly looking forward to the 8th season.』

(The final DVD box set of Inuyasha... for now)
『The Inuyasha Seventh Season Box Set includes four DVDs, which contain twenty-one of the episodes from the final season of the anime. The first disc contains six episodes, the second and third discs contain five episodes, and the fourth disc contains five episodes and the special features.

Disc four contains four special features. The first feature is a "Textless Opening," which is essentially the opening that appears at the beginning of each episode, but this version doesn't have the text that covers the pictures. The second feature is "Textless Ending." However, instead of having a textless version of the ending that appears on this box set, it is a textless verion of an ending that appeared on one of the previous DVD box sets.

The next special feature is labeled as "The Finale With the Japanese Cast." This feature runs for about eight minutes. It includes interviews with the Japanese voice actors for Inuyasha, Shippo, Sango, Miroku, Kagome, and Sesshomaru. There is also some footage of the cast recording dialogue for the final episode.

The last special feature on the disc is labeled as, "Questions for the English Language Voice Actors." This feature runs for about eighteen minutes, and it was recorded at the wrap party for the English dub actors. Unfortunately, with the feature being recorded at the wrap party, there's a lot of ambient noise in the background, which can make it hard to hear some of the voice actors when they're talking. The English dub actors for Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango, and Koga are interviewed for this feature.

If you're a fan of Inuyasha and want to have all of the episodes on DVD, then you need to acquire this set. Like the other Inuyasha box sets, this one retails for around $90. I appreciate the fact that Viz Media included the interviews with the Japanese and English voice actors. However, I wish the audio quality had been better on the interviews with the English dub actors. Even with that flaw, though, this set really needs to be acquired by an Inuyasha fan in order to complete their DVD collection.』

(NO! INUYASHA IS OVER!)
『INUYASHA IS OVER! NOOOOOOO!!!! WHY! WHY! WHY! WHY! WHY! i loved this series soooo much!!!! its totally one of the best animes out there!!! This box set has episode 147- 167. It also has 4 disks.

I was so sad when i was finished watching the last episode, i didn't want it to end! i want to know what happens between inuyasha and kagome in the future, but i guess i will never know now! people told me the rumiko takahashi finished all the inuyasha books recently and the books continue from where the tv series leaves off. that means i have to read the books now!

Hopefuly inuyasha will have more episodes!

(Bought for My Daughter)
『I personally think Inuyasha is very strange, but my daughter, who has autism, loves the series and has to have every new season set that is released! SHE loves it!!!』

(Incomplete Series)
『The anime version of Inuyasha is incomplete. The final episode of Season 7 leaves the anime hanging. The original manga (Japanese Version) contained the death of Naraku as well as Kanna and Kagura. In addition, character storylines were wrapped up. The producers of Inuyasha should've translated the Japanese manga into the anime and thus making it complete. If you want to know exactly what happened after the "Series Finale" you will have to wait a while before the english version of the manga is published. If you know Japanese, feel free to read that version since it is already completed.』

(The Wonders of Nature Explored and Celebrated)
『As an avid Anime viewer, I watch a lot of Anime of varying genres. Mushi-shi is the story of nature, from a fantasy-entrenched perspective. In a different existence, there are life forms called Mushi, which are essentially the purest life forms, that live among people. Usually, they go undetected and do not disturb human beings. Occasionally, however, they sometimes can have negative effects, depending on what they require to survive. Some feed off light, while others feed off the gods themselves. Mushi-shi takes place in a much older period in Japan. Ginko, the main character, is a Mushi master, who travels around helping people with Mushi-related problems. Each episode tells the story of a different issue created by Mushi and how Ginko solves the issue. Unlike other Mushi masters, Ginko doesn't simply resort to killing the Mushi, and instead finds ways for people to live with them.

Mushi-shi is not a series that employs action, suspense, character development, or a connected plot. Instead, it uses beautiful artwork, interesting twists, and philosophical messages to remain an impressively unique series. 26 episodes long, this series is long enough to have an incredible diversity in stories told, and plenty of non-recurring characters. It also stays short enough to not overstay its welcome. Any longer, and the series would likely have lost it's value as a series with vague and transparent continual plot.

What Mushi-shi truly has going for it is it's environmental beauty. Everything is serene and peaceful, and the series has a definite air of mysticism to rival any Anime ever made. The Viridian Collection version has Both Japanese and English voice work (with English subtitles) and the special features are numerous and interesting. Mushi-shi is by far my favorite Anime ever made. Watch it if you desire a slower paced series focused more on philosophical virtues and less on action.』

『There’s no effective way to describe the mushi – They simply are. They simply have been since life first began. As with many other things, man has forgotten how to see. And just as it’s difficult to describe the feel or texture of an object to someone who’s never held it in his own hands, to onewho’s never seen the mushi…

Between this world and the next, there is a point where it becomes impossible to distinguish between plant and animal, between life and death. It is a place man was never meant to tread… This is where you will find the mushi.

Neither good nor evil, they are life in its purest form. An unseen river reshaping the path of man, through their very presence we are changed.Vulgar and strange, they have inspired fear in humans since the dawn of time and have, over the ages, come to be known as“mushi.”』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(If you are a Gundam fan (esp. of the Universal Century), this series should be high on your list of viewing!)
『I decided that in 2008, I'm going to watch every Gundam release in the Universal Century timeline on DVD and one title that was high up on my list was the fan favorite "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team". As for this popular MS Gundam OVA series, it has been released several times by Bandai Entertainment. First as individual volumes back in 2002, then a complete set in 2005 and now as part of the "Anime Legends", the set is re-released with all 12 OAV episodes and the OAV Miller's Report.

Made in 1996 and released in a 12-episode OVA (followed up by another OVA titled "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Miller's Report"), the series was directed by Takeyuki Kanda ("Kiko Senki Dragonar", "SD Gundam Musha, Knight, Commando") and Umanosuke Iida ("Origin ~Spirits of the Past~", "Vandread" and "Hellsing") and a screenplay by Akira Okeya ("Grenadier", "Kodocha", "Transformers: Armada") and Hiroaki Kitajima ("Noein", "Vision of Escaflowne" and "Witch Hunter Robin").

The OVA series would feature a talent crew such as music by popular anime composer Kouhei Tanaka ("Ah! My Goddess", "Gate Keepers", "Dirty Pair", "Gunbuster", etc.) and character designs by Tomoaki Kado (who worked on series such as "Fullmetal Alchemist", ".Hack/Sign" and "Infinite Ryvius") and Toshihiro Kawamoto (who worked on series such as "Fullmetal Alchemist", "City Hunter" and "Macross Plus"). Mechanical designs are by Hajime Katoki ("Mobile Suit Gundam Wing", "Gundam Evolve", "Super Robot Wars OG Divine Wars" and the "Patlabor" movies), Kimitoshi Yamane ("Cowboy Bebop", "Infinite Ryvius" and "Spriggan") and Kunio Okawara ("Armored Trooper Votoms", "Mobile Suit Gundam", "Gravion" and "Super Robot Wars OG Divine Wars").

The series takes place during October U.C. 0079 through December U.C. 0079 (during the final months of the one year war) and from reading online reports, 08th MS Team director Kanda Takeyuki wanted to deglamorize Mobile Suits because they were being mass produced and also wanted to focus more on ground-troop level combat.

The 08th MS Team is lead by their Commander Shiro Amada, a man with a unique style of leadership. Shiro is a leader who wants to accomplish a mission without bloodshed. He respects human life no matter if it's comrade or enemy.

Thus in the first episode, he goes after a Zeon pilot and after the fight ensues between him and the Zeon warrior, instead of killing the soldier, he ends up rescuing and bandaging the soldier. The soldier is Zeon pilot Aina Sakhalin.

Aina is shocked that a Federation officer has tried to save her life and he is nothing like other Federation soldiers. This is a person with compassion. Needless to say, in order to survive, both must work together to rescue themselves from danger and that time alone, the two form a respect for each other.

As we get to learn more about Shiro, from episode two through five, these episodes are more or less introductory episodes to each key individual of the 08th MS Team.

The team consists of:

Terry Sanders: In episode 1, Shiro saves Sanders life. But to many others, he is rumored to be bad luck because each team he has been a part of, everyone has died. Shiro doesn't believe in any "bad luck" nonsense and puts his faith in Terry.

Karen Joshua: Karen is a muscular woman, a pilot, mechanic and very headstrong member of the team. Throughout the series, you learn why Karen is fighting and so passionate in fighting.

Eledore Mathis: Eledor is in charge of driving the tank. He seems to have a fascination towards Karen but his carefree style gets on her nerves. Eledore is also a songwriter and really doesn't want to be in the military but to create music.

Michel Ninorinch: Michel is the youngest member of the 08th MS Team. He's not very military savvy but he assists Eledore in maintaining the tank. His inexperience on the field tends to get on the nerves of the other team members but they regard him as part of the team nonetheless. Each day he sends a letter to his girlfriend BB every day to let her know that he is alive and well. But always worries of the day he won't be able to send a letter and being killed during combat.

Kiki Rosita: Kiki is not an official member of the 08th MS Team. She's part of a guerilla group of villagers who side with the 08th MS Team but only partnering together in order to rid of the Zeon in their area. But she grows fond of Shiro and takes part in their missions.

The twelve episodes for "Mobile Suit Gundam - The 08th MS Team - Complete Collection - Anime Legends" are on a total of four discs and the special on the fifth disc. Included are:

DISC 1:

* EPISODE 1 - War for Two
* EPISODE 2 - Gundams in the Jungle
* EPISODE 3 - The Time Limit on Trust

DISC 2:

* EPISODE 4 - The Demon Overhead
* EPISODE 5 - The Broken Order to Stand By
* EPISODE 6 - Battle Line on the Burning Sand

DISC 3:

* EPISODE 7 - Reunion
* EPISODE 8 - Duty and Ideals
* EPISODE 9 - Front Line

DISC 4:

* EPISODE 10 - The Shuddering Mountain (Part 1)
* EPISODE 11 - The Shuddering Mountain (Part 2)
* EPISODE 12 - Last Resort

DISC 5:

* Miller's Report

The first five episodes are more or less getting to know the characters, more character development type of episodes focusing on each key member and their challenges during the war. You also see a side of the war such as the strategies to combat the enemy and also, unlike Gundams that can withstand hits and attacks, these Gundams can easily be damaged or even destroyed. Also, to show that pilots are not always strong. They have their weaknesses.

Once you get to episode 6, the humorous nature of the anime series suddenly turns serious as it sets up the battle between the 08th MS Team and the Zeon team headed by Aina.

During their battle, Shiro and Aina are taken far away and must depend on each other for survival and you learn that from the day they first met, the two have wanted to be together and are indeed in love with each other.

This sets up the final half of the OAV series sets up the stage as Shiro is being accused as a spy for Zeon and he has put his 08th MS Team at risk and for possible execution as accomplices. In order to redeem themselves, the Federation puts them in a mission with a 38% survival rate and that mission is to destroy the Zeon base. This also a mission that pits Shiro and Aina in opposition. Will they remain true to their side of the military or will they remain true to their relationship?

Miller's Report:

As for Miller's Report, back when it was released, many people debated whether or not to buy this special episode because it was more or less a rehash of the series but it did come with a few minutes of important footage.

In Japan, with the success of a television series or series in general, there tends to be a special that focuses on clips from the series. Sometimes you get additional footage and fortunately for "MILLER'S REPORT", you get footage covering Shiro Amada's trial as he is standing trial on being a spy for the Zeon.

Alice Miller, an officer of the Federation Intelligence Division has been dispatched to find the truth of why Shiro Amada a) Let a Zeon officer go free (not once but twice) b) Why he did not capture the enemy mobile armor when that was his primary mission.

Of the 55-minutes of the special episode, five minutes or maybe less is actual additional footage. It may be a rehashing of clips from the series but the fact is that there is additional footage that has Amada explaining to Miller of why he did what he did, more on Eledore and also the Federation's perspective of the whole situation.

VIDEO&AUDIO:

The video quality is what I expected from an OVA series that took place back in 1995. For those expecting that sharp, vibrant digital look of today's modern anime of course may be put off by the clarity of anime back then. But this is how it was and personally, the transfer quality of this classic anime onto DVD was pretty solid. I didn't catch any excessive dust or scratches. Also, digital compression artifacts. It helps that there are only three episodes per DVD as well. So, you really get cool action-packed fight scenes and good lighting that shows daylight and darkness throughout the jungle or desert. Aspect ratio is: 1.33:1 full frame, not widescreen.

As for audio, both English and Japanese dubs are featured in Stereo 2.0. I originally watched the complete series in Japanese with English subtitles but I watched it this second time around via the English dub. The English dubbing was pretty good and for the English dub, one can expect the use of profanity. But it does work because these soldier's are fighting in a war and are on the battlefield. And also this time around, I watched the anime series with my receiver set for all channels in Stereo and it definitely sounds much better the second time around.

Subtitles are only in English.

JUDGMENT CALL:

Having now completed my viewing of the entire series, I can't help but recommend this OAV series. Also, for it's price, you are getting all 12 OVA episodes and also the Miller's Report special.

At first, I questioned the lightheartedness of the crew, the comedy and humor and their abilities as pilots because the early episodes focused on their personal naivety and to see them bested by villagers and to see Mobile Suits being easily destroyed, I really didn't know what to expect. But the build up in storyline and how they prepare you for the final battle is just exciting, action-packed and you can't help but root for Shiro and Aina in their Romeo and Juliet romance and the final episode "Last Resort" (which takes place months after the final battle and the end of the war).

I've read that in the US, the final 12th episode "Last Resort" was not aired on television because children were featured. For those not familiar with the MS Gundam series, a lot of the adults and men were killed in action on both the Federation and Zeon side. So, women and children were put into the battlefield as soldiers. Also, a side not in terms of the final 12th episode. "Last Resort" was released 3 1/2 years after the 11th episode after the death of director Kanda Takeyuki who died in a car accident. The series was completed by GONZO's Iida Umanosuke. But for those who have watched the series on television and haven't seen "Last Resort", it's imperative to watch the final 12th episode only on DVD because you get to learn the fate of the Shiro and Aina.

And again, for those who missed out on "Miller's Report" can now own it along with the other 12 OVA episodes.

Overall, "MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: The 08th MS Team" is just a remarkable OAV series in the Universal Century world of Gundam. You really get a sense of how sick war is and how both sides (Zeon and Federation) and even the non-military villagers have suffered from it. But also, how MS Gundams were not indestructible. Almost like in real life, even with the most modern of technology, may it be tanks or aircraft, they can be easily destroyed.

This was a very big difference in contrast to the "Mobile Suit Gundam" films (and I'm guessing as shown in the earlier episodes) where the Zeon was just in awe of how Amuro Ray's Mobile Suit hardly suffered any damage.

Also, you get to see a bit of strategy by the 08th team and of course, where Federation and Zeon are just at each others throats in many Gundam storylines, for this storyline, you have a Federation commander and a major Zeon pilot who have fallen in love with each other. It really is a Gundam "Romeo and Juliet" storyline with an impressive ending. A great payoff for those who have watched the OVA's overtime.

"Mobile Suit Gundam - The 08th MS Team - Complete Collection" via Bandai Entertainment's "Anime Legends" is highly recommended!』

(Gundam 08th MS Team Review)
『This was one of my better recent Gundam purchases. I never felt as if there were any "filler" episodes (except for maybe the Miller's report and the last episode) like I encountered with Zeta. And this being the newest of my purchases, the animation is a lot better. As Zeta I felt was too long, this was a little too short.』

(Awesome Complete Box Set)
『MS Gundam: The 08th MS Team - Anime Legends Complete Box is great overall.
It is actually 355 minutes long, NOT 335 minutes. It comes with alot of bonus clips that run an average of 3 minutes. These bonus clips are about how the UC colonies started building in space, how The Principality of Zeon started, their Zeon mobile suits, and about an overview of Mobile Suit Gundam series. It also has the Mobile Suit/Vehicles/Characters Encyclopedia of the 08th MS Team series. The box set is thin, like a regular single DVD box, but contains 5 discs. 4 discs contain all 12 episodes, and the 5th disc contains Miller's Report.

The animation itself is awesome, and in my opinion, is better than or on par with the animation of Gundam Seed or Gundam 00.

The only thing that disappoints me is that it does not have Widescreen.

(GITS, SAC, Just AWESOME)
『When I first saw Ghost In The Shell movie back on 1996 on HBO. (Yes, HBO), I instantly fell in love with the storyline and tha animation (the animation for God's sake), never had seen such great animation for that time. Well, following the item above, I think the series are well done, this first season is filled with some heavy philosophical script (as all GITS universe is) and the plot in my opinion is very interesting it self. The sound is avalaible in both english and japanese audio in dolby 5.1 or 2.0, you choose. In this set you get a well variaty of extras that includes some interviews with the director and production staff as well as the seiyus from the japanese audio. Also you fine the wierd but funny Tachikomatic Days shorts, where these little fellas try to understand the meaning of self thinking and morality and other stuff.

Great work from Bandai, as always.』

(Star Trek Voyager Quality)
『Ghost in the Shell is brilliant! Simply brilliant!

Make sure you watch the series before you watch the movies. I am not going to go into describing what it's about. This series is by far the smartest series that I've watched of ANY kind; animated and non-animated. I am not a fan of anime either. This is the second japanese animated series that I've watched since Robotech (which I also loved) and I'm hooked. I can't believe that only 2 seasons were made out of this. The depth of the characters, the ethical conflicts, the moral dilemmas... if you're a Star Trek Voyager fan, then Ghost in the Shell is for you.』

(A Great Addition to the Ghost Universe)
『First of all, I just want to mention that I was always interested in GITS SAC, but between the other expensive collection floating around and the fact that it only airs once a week at 4am, I've never really had the chance to take a closer look. That is, until this convenient, affordable set-up.

Well, anyway, GITS SAC revolves around the investigation of a cyber-terrorist known as the "laughing man." Throughout the series attempts are made to stop this heinous criminal only to reveal that the plot is much thicker and deeper than first imagined.

Along with the overlying plot, stand alone episodes act as avenues for character development, philosophical questioning as well as world building. Perhaps two of the better (or at least entertaining in my point of view) episodes consist of Batou's backstory while investigating a fighter and the tachikoma's consistent questioning of life and death.

Though these stand alone episodes offer much in the way of development, they have a habit of breaking the pace a little. If you are not intending to watch large chunks of the series at a time or in reasonable sucession, important details can easily be forgotten.

All and all, GITS SAC offers espionage, action, philosophical debate and characters that you can't help to feel for. Just remember one thing while diving through the GITS SAC world: Nothing is at it seems. And one other thing: it doesn't hurt to keep the remote in hand to rewind to what you missed.』

(A complex story of what A.I. is and what souls are...)
『This anime is one of the most complex stories ever...
But if you listen closely and keep a watchful eye, it WILL all make sense in the very end!

I really can't explain too much of this story, without confusing, or giving away anything...

What I can say is if you like Cowboy Bebop's plot: Stand alone episodes combined with a subliminal plot then you will enjoy this.

I can also say that the theme about the series is: At point is a man a machine once he becomes a cyborg? At if a machine obtains individuality, is he/she/it human?

And lastly, if something occurs, that appears differently to others eyes, does it become what the others thought?

Philosophy, action, sci-fi, complexity, and excellence is what you will get with Ghost in the Shell.』

(Classic SAC season 1 but, with one flaw.)
『I just bought this title (again) and it's really the way to go if you are into SAC. There is however a flaw with the set that has continued from the initial release of the limited edition disks. Specifiacally disk two. The limited edition releases came with two disks, a conventional disk and one coded for DTS. Volume two's disks were the only disks in the series that were silk screened in reverse so that the DTS disk was labled as if it were the standard version. This problem continues in this set. What this means is that a conventional DVD player will not give you any volume from the disk and you can tell on the main menu because it will read DTS disk in the right corner of the menu. Maybe Bandai will concede to replacing the erronious disk with one that will play on standard players but, I haven't gotten that far yet. That's the ONLY reason I can't give it a 5 star rating.』

(Well worth it)
『Got my package in like three days. It was also in pristine condition. I would gladly purchase it again and plan on getting all of the boxed sets on Amazon. I love Inuyasha!! :)』

(My child loves it.)
『The series is pretty good and I enjoy as well as my daughter who I bought it for.』

(Inuyasha is a classic Anime!)
『I for one don't like a lot of anime; but only have a select few favorites... one being Inuyasha. That is because I like Inuyasha for it's unique story and great cast of characters; not to mention the style and genre the anime fits into my personallity!

I mean they don't call this show a fuedal fairy tale for nothing you know! That's why I love it so much; it has lots of sword swinging action in fuedal Japan, romance between the 3 key characters Inuyasha, Kikyo,&Kagome, and a bunch of LOL comedy with the other characters!

Season 2 of Inuyasha is one of my favorite seasons of all time! My especially favorite episodes are of when we first meet Koga of the demon wolf tribe, Kagura the wind sorceress, when Inyuyasha transforms into a demon when his sword breaks,&when Inuyasha faces his fathers old enemy&uses the backlash wave! But my number 1 favorite episode is Sango's Suffering and Kohaku's Life; for in that episode we see Kagome&Sango naked... and what's so LOL funny is that Miroku&Inuyasha get clobbered by them! "It was worth the pain; that was a wonderful sight we just saw!" Cracks me up everytime! :D

Plus I think it's just great to have the entire Inuyasha Seasons on DVD; since you don't have to worry about having them recorded on your old VHS tapes! That is because I'm a collector;&I love having DVD's of all of my favorite shows&movies!』

(Great for ANY Inuyasha lover!)
『This season of inuyasha is just as good as the first! The first season was pretty much the introduction of the characters and plot but in this season the story really kicks off! You also get to meet new characters too. This season is about how Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kirara, Inuyasha, and Kagome continue their search for the shards of the Sacred Jewel. Their task has not been made any easier by Naraku, who continually seems to be inventing newer and more dangerous ways to thwart them. Theres adventure, romance, and fantasy that make this season so awesome!

There is also special footage, character introduction, textless opening and ending, the 1st movie trailer (sadly the trailer is in japanese), and the 27 episodes in this box set.

If you bought the first season you have to buy this one! Trust me, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!

(More characters, more action and another excellent season of InuYasha!)
『There are not many long running anime series that I find wonderful but for "InuYasha"" is one of those special titles that is what you can call a total package. Cool characters, cool storyline, cool animation, cool art background... A good balance of everything that you can want in an anime.

But it's something that I expected no less coming from a manga series from Rumiko Takahashi, one of my favorite manga-ka's in Japan known for anime TV series hits such as "Urusei Yatsura", "Maison Ikkoku", "Ranma 1/2 and "InuYasha".

I have to be truthful and say that I am actually a late bloomer to the "InuYasha"" TV series. As a big fan of Rumiko Takahashi's earlier works and "Ranma 1/2 really helping me get into anime nearly 16 years ago, having enjoyed the three previous hits, I felt that I enjoyed them so much, what if I didn't enjoy this new series (which aired in Japan back in 2000)? So, nearly a decade I have caught a few episodes that would air on television but never watched the series from the beginning and what better time to do it but now.

"INUYASHA - SECOND SEASON BOX SET" comprises of episodes 28 through 54 which the viewer can watch with Japanese or English voice over.

In the second season, we are introduced to even more characters and storylines that deal with those characters. The episodes can be classified people joining InuYasha's side, others joining Naraku's side and Sesshomaru's side.

Without spoiling the storyline, the episodes of season 2 focus on the new characters and InuYasha's adventures to find Naraku. Also, a good number of episodes are dedicated towards InuYasha learning how to use his sword, the Tetsusaiga. As for Sesshomaru, he learns about his sword, the Tenseiga but also trying to take InuYasha's sword.

So, the second season of "InuYasha" was easily enjoyable as things really start to ramp up action-wise as more characters are introduces and Naraku does what he can to defeat InuYasha's group. And as much as Sesshomaru is a villain as well, you also start to see him differently than the way he was in Season 1.

Now there are two versions of these box sets. The first is this regular edition and then there is a limited deluxe edition for each season that comes out with a certain item. For the second season, the deluxe edition comes with the Hanko Blocks.

Also, for those wondering if there is any version between this re-release and the 2005 Season 2 release, I don't think so.

VIDEO&AUDIO:

For an anime created back in 2003, the second season of episodes holds up pretty well since it has only been six years since it aired on television. There are some stair effect on edges which may be due to the upconverting from my Blu-ray player but overall, the colors are vibrant and the overall animation was done quite well.

If you are a big Rumiko Takahashi fan, you know what to expect from her character designs and the animation was well done.

As for the audio, audio is presented in 2.0 and both languages are done quite well. The English dubbed seems a bit more clearer and a little louder coming through my front speakers over the Japanese track but overall, it's a purely dialogue driven anime and there are no 5.1ch tracks, so you get the dialogue in stereo. For "Ranma 1/2 fans, you will see the reunion of Ranma 1/2 voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi (Ranma) return as the voice for InuYasha which was pretty cool and also Noriko Hidaka ("Ranma 1/2 character Akane) as Kikyo.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

There are a few special features inluded:

* INUYASHA SPECIAL FOOTAGE - In Japan, especially after a long season, some series tend to have special episodes which condenses the more important episodes in order to get those viewers prepared for the following season (or season finale). The first special shown on Japanese television for InuYasha focuses on what happened in Season 1.
* CHARACTER INTRODUCTIONS - A text and picture (sketches of the characters) which you can click on via your remote and read a brief character summary.
* MOVIE TRAILER - This trailer is for the second film.
* TEXTLESS OPENING - Starting with episode 35, InuYasha's second opening theme is "I Am" by hitomi
* TEXTLESS ENDING - Starting with episode 42, InuYasha's third ending theme features "Dearest" by Ayumi Hamasaki.

I feel that when it comes to an anime television series based on a Rumiko Takahashi manga, you really can't go wrong. Her first three are classics in their own right and "InuYasha" will surely join the others as not only popular hit manga series but also great anime TV series of all time. There are not too many manga creators who have a lot of their works get the anime adaptation that spawn many films, CD drama series and soundtracks and also a lot of merchandise. For Rumiko Takahashi, she's had three decades worth of series that have lasted for a long time and even today, fans still crave her works because they can be watched any time and they are good now as they were then.

But when it comes to "InuYasha", where I've had such a strong affinity towards her previous releases and even "Ranma 1/2, I have to admit, "InuYasha" is a solid series and there was not many episodes that were bland or "OK", they were all very good and again, there are not many TV series where I want to continue watching nearly every episode in one sitting.

So, everything is fantastic about this series but are there any negatives? Well, compared to current VIZ Media releases such as "DEATH NOTE" or "Busou Renkin" Season Box Sets, they do add the interviews with the English dub voice talent but considering those were 2008 releases and this was released back in 2004. I think VIZ has learned throughout the years and have given fans what they want with current releases. But for this older release, it's a classic and you do get special features, just not a lot.

The second season was quite enjoyable as there was more action, more humor but also because the first season established character development for each of the main characters, the second season introduces more characters but yet still keeping the core relationships intact.

InuYasha, Kagome and Kikyo. Miroku and Sango. And then, whatever brotherhood rivalry continues between InuYasha and Sesshomaru, this second season definitely had a lot more to offer.

Overall, an exciting second season and for fans of "InuYasha" or Rumiko Takahashi's work, this second season box set is easy to recommend. Definitely worth checking out!』

『Together with their friends Miroku, Shippo, Sango and Kirara, Inuyasha and Kagome continue their search for the shards of the Sacred Jewel. Their task, however, is not made any easier by Naraku who continually seems to be inventing newer and more dangerous ways to thwart them. Adventure and romance, demons and fantasy--come enter the world of INUYASHA in this second exciting season.』
『Hearts and swords are the focus of the second season ofInu-Yasha, Rumiko Takahashi's popular "feudal fairy tale." Inu-Yasha's icily elegant half-brother Sesshomaru discovers that the sword their demon father left him, the Tenseiga, is useless to him in battle. It doesn't kill, but heals--an imaginative twist typical of Takahashi. Inu-Yasha has to learn to master his sword, the Tetsusaiga, that was forged from his father's fang. When the monster Goshinki bites the Tetsusaiga in two, the addled smith Totosai reforges it, using a fang of Inu-Yasha's to join the shards. Inu-Yasha must learn to wield the newly heavy sword that reflects his increased responsibility: his father is no longer protecting him, so he must use his own strength.

Inu-Yasha also faces two powerful internal struggles. He begins to question his desire to become a full demon after he transforms into a mindless killing machine. The Tetsusaiga keeps his demon-blood in check, and Inu-Yasha is grateful for its strength. But he has no exterior support in the battle within his heart: Does he love the resurrected Kikyo, whom he adored 50 years earlier, or Kagome, who has shared so many adventures and who loves him? These struggles demand more than the battles with the evil Naraku and his avatars.

The adventures, emotional crises, and ferocious battles are balanced against the friendship and slapstick comedy Kagome, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo provide. Through it all, Inu-Yasha remains the impulsive hot-head viewers love--whom only Kagome can keep in check. (Unrated, suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity)

Fans of this popular series will also want to seeThe Art of Inu-Yashaby Rumiko Takahashi, which features original artwork, notes on minor characters, a glossary, and interviews with the principal Japanese voice actors, director Masashi Ikeda, character designer Yoshihito Hishinuma, and art direrctor Shigemi Ikeda.Takahashi also discusses the differences in the manga and the animated versions of two key sequences.--Charles Solomon

(He's really not into you!)
『The sale of the dvd was flawless it arrived with-in the time frame and in the condition they said it would be in. thank you』

(Fantastic Four - World's Greatest Heroes - The Complete First Season....)
『To be honest, I've been a casual Fantastic Four fan most of my life. Picking up an issue here or there is usually how I'd catch up with what was going on in their comic. There were other Marvel characters that I had more of a connection with, sadly. Thanks to my fascination with animation over the last year and the fact that I needed a good 'Superhero' fix, I decided to get the complete first season of Fantastic Four:World's Greatest Heroes. The show itself is about a group of superheroes that gain their powers after cosmic ray exposure. Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) is a scientist who can stretch his body like a rubber band. Ben Grimm (The Thing) is super strong and almost indestructible. Susan Storm (The Invisible Woman) can turn invisible and create force fields at will while her somewhat younger brother Johnny (The Human Torch) can manipulate fire at will. What sets this show apart from other incarnations of the Fantastic Four is the look of the show. Moonscoop gave this show a more anime look to it. It's really colorful with a blend of 2-D digital animation with 3-D digital animation. Another thing is its' humor which is spot-on with the comics. Other Marvel alumni make an appearance such as: The Hulk, She-Hulk, Iron Man, The Sub-Mariner, and more.

The 26 episodes include nine episodes never broadcast in America and are arranged in the order that they were meant to be shown. Episodes include: audio commentary, three featurettes("From Origins To Animation","Rise Of The Rogues", "Traveling To New Dimensions") which deal with the origins of the FF-Various FF Villains-the show's design and animation process and more.

I love this new approach to the Fantastic Four and am glad I bought the first season DVD set. I highly recommend it.

(Best Fantastic Four Cartoon Yet!!!)
『This is easily the best F4 cartoon made yet. The personalities and chemistry of the group is pretty spot on the those of the comic. For the first time ever we get to see Ronan and Accuser and Dragon Man in animated form. If your a Marvel fan, you've gotta pick this up. I'm very happy with this purchase and have thorougly enjoyed it.』

(Best Marvel Series yet)
『After borrowing the first volume from the local library, I was pretty well turned off to the series, but then there was a discount copy of volume 2 at BigLots...after that, I was hooked. I definitely enjoyed the skrull and Accuser story arcs that spanned several episodes in that volume. I decided that it warranted another look, and I wasn't disappointed. The writing is witty and memorable, and it was with the outside chance of seeing the frightful four, that I wanted to get this one, thinking that the zombie four might make an appearance. Still, even though Galactus is missing, this is probably Marvel's best animated product yet - the animation is simply superb - like a good penciler.』

(Worlds Greatest Cartoon Heroes)
『Ok, so maybe its not the worlds greatest cartoon about heroes, but this box set is pretty amazing still. I was VERY skeptical about this series when it started airing on TV. I didn't fall in love with the look right away. I hated the movies and this seemed to be based off of the movie version of the team. Things were not looking good for the latest animated FF. Then something happened that changed how I felt completely: I watched the show. IT'S AWESOME! The animation is great. The character design totally works. The voice acting really suits the characters and the animation is beautiful. I watched one of these DVDs recently on a friends MAC and it looked even better! The colors and clarity really leaped out on a higher definition television. But back to the boxed set:

This set contains over 20 episodes. Most of the major FF villians are featured and even some heroes make appearances on a few episodes. Marvel comics fans will be happy to learn that the main producers of the show are Craig Kyle and Chris Yost. These guys have a huge love for the Marvel U and really treat the FF with respect. You can tell that it's comics fans who are writing the stories and not some disinterested Hollywood writer who's just getting handed a check. There are some visual elements put in there just for the fans, even if they have nothing to do with the episode plot-wise. Little touches like that were some of what really drew me into the show.

I've read some bad reviews for this series and I really couldn't disagree more. This series is wonderful, funny, exciting and just gets better and better as the episodes go on. I was reluctant to give this a shot, but I'm so glad that I did. Any fans of the Fantastic Four comics or movies should definitely own this. Fans of superhero animation should get a copy as well. This is a series that I will definitely watch again and again. My only fear is that there may not be a season 2...』

『When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are charged by cosmic rays. Together they become the Fantastic Four and use their unique powers o help the world battle multiple thetas, and to foil the evil plans of their equally powerful enemy, Doctor Doom.』

(This is where Pokemon was good)
『This brings back nice memories for when I was younger. I am 19 and I still like pokemon, but only until the end of the master quest series. Awesome product』

(A fun Pokemon summer adventure)
『With Pokemon now over 10 season's old, it is hard to imagine that there was a day where there was only just 150 Pokemon.

And Ash Ketchum was traveling with Misty and Tracy.

With Brock gone to live at Professor Ivy, Ash and Misty found themselves tempory alone until they bumped into Tracy, a Pokemon watcher.

Also Pikachu and Togepi are there with them all the way in this DVD series.

The second season of Pokemon was perhaps the shortest and Ash Ketchum was able to just go though 4 unique Pokemon gym battles where the rules apply to more than just battle, Ash also had to surf, build a Bobslead out of ice, and also this was the first time where double battles were used.

Adventures on the Orange Islands is for any old school Pokemon fan who always remembered the old Ash and Misty romance. Episodes like Misty meets her match and Where art thou Pokemon provide a few hints towards an Ash x Misty relationship.

And also even when Brock was not there trying to make his moves on all the girls, Tracy was a good replacement as intead of trying to pull the romantic moves on all the Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys he was instead drawing all the girls in his sketch book.

Tracy of course loves to draw pokemon in his sketch book and that is also the same when he loves to draw all the girls that he meets allong his journey to become a Pokemon Watcher and his ultimate dream is to some day work for the famous Professor Oak.

So for anyone who loves Pokemon but who does not want to watch a whole series of episodes where Ash works so hard to reach a certain Pokemon league competition only to be unlucky to be defeated, then this one is for you as The Orange Island series was short but worth full of good Pokemon nostaliga and Ash finally wins a Pokemon tornument in the Orange Islands in an amazing match against a powerful opponent.

5 stars』

(Get the individual Orange Island DVD's! They're much better!)
『Ok I'll admit, I haven't seen this particular product. But I have seen most Pokemon DVD's and I read one of the reviews, so I will say this:

When you compare the Orange Island DVD box sets and the Indigo box sets with the original releases, here is what you get:

1. Ever since the Master Quest box sets where finished Viz has been steering clear of offering English subtitles. This is one feature the individual volumes almost always have. Why do we need English subtitles? Well I for one think that they are very helpful because sometimes we just don't understand what a person is saying and subtitles really clear that up. I'm not joking! We are not as nearly as good at understanding our own language as we pretend. That's not to say that we are dence.

2. The menu's are much nicer and cuter in the individual volumes than they are in the box sets.

3. Sometimes in these new box sets the intros, themes, transitions, and endings get mixed up or left out completely. One reviewer said it was because, the endings for example, somehow messes with the video quality.
That's stupid! In all the endings I have seen, and I own just about all of the Pokemon DVD's, I have never noticed anything that takes away from the quality of the program. And besides, if you don't want to watch the ending you can always push the "Next Chapter" button on your DVD remote to start the next episode.

Here is my suggestion for the Orange Islands. Look up "Pokemon Orange Islands" in the Amazon search engine. You will find the new box set and the individual volumes. Buy the individuals! Wether it is from Amazon themselves or from Amazon sellers (for a cheaper price). It is well worth it! I have the Individual Orange Island volumes myself and they are super fantastic!

(Good value and quite entertaining)
『We have been watching this for days now! Loads of entertainment and full of that silly Pokemon-show fun. Gotta love Team Rocket's persistence in the face of failure...』
『After a stop in Pallet Town, Ash, Misty and Brock set out to find a rare and mysterious Pokéball for Professor Oak. Their quest leads them to the Orange Islands, where Ash decides to battle in the Orange League Tournament. With new friends to meet, new Pokémon to discover, and tough new trainers to challenge them, the adventures never end for Ash and his friends!

Includes 36 episodes of Pokémon fun and adventure!』

『TheOrange Islandscontinuity (1999) serves as a bridge between the longerPokémonstorylines about theIndigo League(1997) andJohto League(1999) adventures. Professor Oak sends Ash, Misty and Brock to the Orange Islands to retrieve the mysterious GS Pokéball found by fellow researcher Professor Ivy. When they reach her lab, moonstruck Brock decides to stay with the Professor and her three female assistants. Ash and Misty are soon joined by Tracey, a "Pokémon Watcher" in training who sketches. After the perpetually amorous Brock, he makes a rather bland companion, although the caricatures of Groucho Marx and Clint Eastwood they encounter liven things up a bit. The characters roam aimlessly from island to island, escaping the snares of the inept Team Rocket, who stalk them in a submarine disguised as a giant Magicarp and a balloon that lookslike Meowth. Ash wins the Coral Eye, Sea Ruby, Spike Shell, and Jade Star badges, which qualify him for the Orange League Tournament, where he finally learns to make his recalcitrant Charizard obey him. These stories lack a narrative arc: Ash's battles at the various gyms don't escalate, nor is there any sense of urgency to the mission to return the GS ball. The adventure concludes with Ash, Misty, and Tracey returning to Pallet Town, just in time to encounter the long-absent Gary. Professor Oak invites Tracey to become his assistant, so Brock, who's been jilted by Ivy and her assistants, sets out with Ash and Misty for the Johto League. (Rated A, suitable for All Ages: minor cartoon violence.--Charles Solomon

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(In The Future, Entitlements Gone Extremely Wrong And Then Some)
『It is often in the world of anime that the viewer has no clue what is really the backdrop of the existing conflict until several episodes into the series, or in some extreme cases not until halfway through the series or, worse, until the blatant end. The opening of the first episode of Vandread says more than enough about the background: someone took a bunch of colonists headed away from Earth at high speed, divided them up between male and female, put them on separate planets, and forgot to tell them to play nice with their neighbors. Oops.

Fast forward seventy years, and the war of the sexes is in full swing between Tarak (male) and Majeir (female). Divided and petty in their own societies, both sides have really only one unifying goal: flatten the other side. Even still, there are some people here and there who don't believe in the war so much as they believe in doing what they want to do, like interplanetary pirates or a factory worker who thinks he can pilot the machines he has only built since he was young. And when one such male factory worker gets caught on a ship being attacked by female pirates, instant gender-bending conflict is a given. Throw in a stoic and observant male medical officer and a 'politically saavy' pilot officer into the fray, and it goes from 'conflict' to 'this isn't going to end well for someone'. Vandread plays every ounce and angle of that conflict for every bit that it is worth, and manages to play it completely without the air of a horrid 90's sitcom, unlike some other anime that have gone there.

-x-x- SPOILER WARNING -x-x-

And then, there is the reality of the conflict. Towards the end of the first half, an observant viewer would notice that there is something rather unusual about the other colonies they come across, and these strange automated enemies that keep attacking the ship and crew. Know how the colonists fled Earth almost a century ago? They fled for a very good reason, and herein the title of this review comes into play. The colonists (as well as dozens of other colony groups) were allowed to leave by the regime on Earth so that they could escape the hostile environs the planet had become, and would later be harvested for body parts to be used as replacements for the failing bodies of the inhabitants of Earth. Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets Battlestar Galactica in a very macabre fashion, though for viewing sensibility the actual proceeds of the harvest are never really shown. Less is the better on that note.

The elitists of Earth believe they are entitled to the body parts of their colonists to sustain their lives theoretically forever. Thankfully, the Pirates step down the Jolly Roger and pick up their guns, ready and willing to stick it to the harvesting fleets from Earth. One ship of mismatched crazies, however, is not ample to flatten an automated mechanized invasion and harvesting fleet, so they go about picking up some heavier firepower from people they meet along the way home, and then try to convince their respective home planets that something evil this way comes. After much wrangling (and use of a whip in one case O.o) the battles lines are drawn and things get brutal quickly.

I'll leave the rest to your viewing pleasure.

-x-x- END SPOILERS -x-x-

Vandread is a bit unusual, in that it makes use of conspicuous CGI for the space combat scenes, but everything else is standard anime cel-shading. The first time or two you see this, it can be a bit jarring, but the battles are executed with flair on the part of the production staff and the cel-shading is not at odds with the CGI, but rather the CGI provides a very good compliment to the anime as a whole.

The storyline starts off on the anti-side of boy meets girl, and ends up asking more than one existential question by the end. Vandread comes off as one of those rare series that you can watch for the basic entertainment value of drama, gender conflict, or gratuitous space combat, or you can read into it as far as you want and come out with more than a few social-political questions that need better answers nowadays (or else fear that something this twisted becomes cold, hard reality for all of us, not just in a show).

For anyone who can stomach mecha anime as a whole, I highly recommend it.』

(Funimation Brings the Classic Home Once More)
『Vandread isn't really all that new, in fact, having made its Japanese broadcast debut way back in 2000, one might go as far as to say it's pretty darn old. But like most Gonzo titles, it's survived the test of time over and over again. Funimation's recent box set release of the property represents the third time the DVDs have been released to the North American market; first through Pioneer, then repackaged and re-released from Geneon. Suffice it to say, tales with this kind of staying power rarely reach this status undeservingly.

Funimation's release consists of all 26 episodes, which were in fact two seasons (Vandread&Vandred The Second Stage), across four discs. Housed in an attractive cardboard slipcase, the four discs come in a pair of artistic thin packs. Total runtime comes in at 600 minutes even and the show wears a very conservative 13&Up rating. Conservative because the show really is friendly to viewers of all ages save for a few sexual innuendos and extremely-light cussing. There is no nudity to speak of and while death is presented on occasion, it is never graphic or overly violent.

The set presents the usual dub&sub dialog options; An English dub, original Japanese audio track (with English subtitles is so desired).

Classifying the show isn't near as easy as typing out its hard stats however, as I'm quickly discovering. Technically it's a mecha entry on account of its use of robotics throughout. In fact the very term Vandread is derived from the concept of the physically conjoining of a fighter robot called a Van-Type and a space-fighter craft known as a Dread. When combined, the two craft become a powerful giant robot that can range in appearance from a hulking, oversize-gun carrying humanoid to a metallic crab surrounded by orbiting weapon-spheres depending upon the combination of the ships involved.

However, and unlike most robot shows, Vandread is as much a space-opera as it is a science fiction/ action piece. It's set in the distant future in a Universe where mankind has expanded his reach of population to include multiple planets and space stations. However, and what makes Vandread unique, the show literally opens with a propaganda film designed to frighten an all-male populous with the fact that all women are, in fact, monsters.

See it turns out that in the future, thanks to cloning techniques, male and female copulation (or even cohabitation for that matter) is no longer necessary to continue the race. As such both sexes are only vaguely aware of the other's existence. Yes it's a novel concept and sure it lends to Vandread's individuality as a whole, but the same-sex reproduction ideals are a bit sketchy (if not homosexual promoting).

The big gag, at least early on anyway, works off the concept of three males becoming entangled with an all-female pirate ship before being transported, via a space-warp, to a distant galaxy to avoid annihilation. The core of the story follows this ship's (the Nirvana) voyage back home while paying special attention to the daily drama stirred up thanks to the differences between the sexes. No, not those differences, but rather the awkwardness and feelings of passion that only be achieved through the old "opposites attract" concept. It's immature, it's silly, it's sometimes annoying but Vandread makes certain to counteract the goofiness with a steady-dose of CG rendered action sequences that still hold up even after all these years.

The visuals are far more solid then they have any right to be considering the show's vintage. What's that, you say there are shows far older (Gundam Wing or Macross for example) that still look nice so what's the big deal? Well keep in mind that right around the time that Vandread was created, the world was making a collective move away from standard hand-drawn cells and painted backgrounds to an all out computer generated imaging overload. That's fine and good, but many early efforts of the practice suffered from limited hardware capabilities, stiff animation and poor texturing. Somehow Vandread ducks and weaves through this minefield of pitfalls by combining a beautifully vibrant color pallet in the standard animation with CG inspired exterior backgrounds and robot models. Sure, the process has been refined in the nine years since but that isn't to say Vandread suffers any as a result.

Pacing can best be described as all over the place as the early episodes were brutally formulaic and relied far too heavily upon the whole "men and women meeting for the first time will be funny" gimmick. Additionally most of the first season is structured more as a succession of stand-alone episodes than a single ongoing tale. This trend degenerates to grander story arcs as the show progresses and by the middle of the Second Stage; Vandread feels more like a traditional mecha anime entry.

In my opinion the move away from the cuteness and attempts at slapstick to the slightly more psychologically engaging plots of the Second Stage was a step in the right direction. So much so in fact that I almost feel like the series probably would have hit its stride in the third or fourth season had it lasted that long.

As a whole the show suffers a bit in terms of confliction scope, as the enemies our cast frequently engages throughout the entire series are never really known as anything other than "the enemy". Worse still, they appear out of nowhere, get whipped, then live to attack another day. Their motives are never clear, nor is their presence ever fully justified. Other detractors along the way include an over-the-top (and quite obnoxious) lead male character, and overly naive lead female character, and what can only be described as a robotic version of He-Man's annoying court jester, Orko.

The soundtrack is especially well done with a reoccurring techno number that's simply infectious. I had the pleasure of enjoying the set though a 5.1 surround sound speaker set and found that the rolling bass riff coupled with a high end of synthesized horns flawlessly.

In conclusion Vandread is certainly not for everyone but manages to survive the test of time thanks to its unwavering (if at times, forceful) charm. While it rarely gets the credit it deserves, the show certainly paved the way for many robot-based series that would follow (titles like Gravion and Godannar). This latest DVD release from the masters of quality at Funimation assures that Vandread will continue to spread its charm with the presentation values it deserves.』

(Vandread, A dark future)
『Vandread is an interesting example of the giant robo genre of japanese animation with a little bit of harem comedy added in for a bit of spice.』

(A Funny Entertaining Sci-Fi Anime Worth A Look)
『This series was very reminiscent of series like Trigun, Full Metal Panic, and Outlaw Star nothing to serious but entertaining, dramatic, and funny enough to be very addictive. The first thing you have to realize is not to take most of this series seriously though if you're looking for a hardcore dramatic series like Ghost In The Shell, Akira, or the like than this series won't be for you, while it has space mechas battles and some drama for most of the series it's mostly light-hearted for the first season. The start of Vandread Second Stage does become a little more dramatic and serious though especially with the story-arc of what the people of Earth have done to the human colonies in space for their own agenda. The main plot of the series is that after a century or so of the male/female genders being separate and living on different worlds they for whatever reason have started fighting one another for resources and personal agendas. The stories on both sides on what the other genders are like also make the series very funny, as when you hear the story on the male home-world at how demonic the females are and how they will eat your organs and are just horrific. Thus begins the awkward journey of three males trapped on a ship of a multitude of attractive females after a battle between the genders goes chaotic and causes a fusion of the male and female space ships. The cast have a vast array of humorous situations that make for a good laugh throughout the show and the characters are hilarious as you see as they try to interact between the genders bumbling along sometimes. The true cute couple of the series for me were Hibiki Tokai a third grade citizen on his world who basically was just a lowly factory worker when he got trapped aboard the ship because he boasted he could bring back a vanguard, and Dita Liebely a bubbly female pilot of the ship who wants to contact her first alien and since she's never seen a male before she sees Hibiki as the first alien she's contacted. The video is clear and sharp so no complaints and the audio was also good the cast for both the Japanese/English were good as well. Again though like the recent releases from Funimation the set is four dvds put into two thinpack dvd cases and than into a paper sleeve, the extras aren't much just the standard textless intro/ending songs and some trailers but for the price still not bad. So if you like funny action drama sci-fi animes here's a good one to look at for you anime collection...』

(Men are from Tarak, Women Are From Mejere)
『On The surface Vandread seems to be another stupid harem anime with mechs thrown in for show. At least that what I thought when i discovered in a used bin and passed on it. The DVD Flavor Text just billed as a war between the sexes, and it is, but it tries something new. In Vandread Earth like in your usual Future anime has started to fall to ruin so they send colony ships into space. Somehow two ships land on to planets and the early colonists decide to separate the sexes. Flash forward to the present as the men prepare to launch a new weapon in the war against the women. Here we meet the male protagonists. Hibiki, the usual misunderstood loner, Deuelo the Enigmatic Doctor and Bart, the spoiled funny guy. A female pirate ship attacks at that moment. We meet the female leads. Dita, the Ditsy alien freak, Jura the sultry one and Meia the misunderstood Serious one The men launch a counterattack The ships semi-sentient power source activates and send them spiraling across the universe where they are attacked by a mysterious enemy. Thus begins their adventure back home as the mystery behind their worlds and their present situation is slowly revealed.
The show a mixture of Comedy, drama and adventure. they don't blend evenly as the episodes jump between the genres. As the story progresses we see the women and men come to terms with their past prejudices and views. The Cast is enormous beyond the main 6. rash secondary character is unique and have seperate personalities. From the smart Girl with glasses, The Bratty little girl and even a cosplay freak who spend much of the episodes in a bear suit. the numerous background characters are seperated by where they work where only the bridge cew is distinct. Most of the 6 leads have episode or two to show growth. and One or two characters have their own secrets. By the second stage we have all the pieces set for a climatic battle as all secrets are revealed and we find out what really happened 100 years ago. This thinkpak is a bargain for both stages.
A little thin in the extras department. But it looks nice and the English voice cast is filled with the well-knowns like Mary Elizabeth McGlynn,Wendee Lee, Tony Oliver, and Steve Blum. They do an excellent Job. But if you aren't into the dub there is a Japanese track. it is a fun series once you give it a chance. Starz had both stages in continuous run for years. give it a chance.』

『The battle of the sexes may seem bad on Earth, but in a space colony far, far away, things are even worse. Men and women haven’t seen each other for decades, so they don’t just argue in the future – they go straight for each other’s throats. Enter lowly Hibiki, a little guy with big dreams of adventure, who finds himself in the middle of a firefight after stowing away in a top secret mech designed to purge the galaxy of estrogen! But as the gender war rages on, a mysterious crystal weapon forever links their starships – and their destinies. Time is running out as men and women explore their sexual differences, struggle to suppress raging hormones, and fight to survive the threat of a deadly common foe!

(goodness in a box)
『I r going to use teh least amount of letter possible. oops, to late lol. I have to say that this story is pretty Fn cool. You are soo gonna love the hero! His name is just so stupid it works. And Mr. Man rocks the house in bloodshed and strong silent emotion. Totaly an epic asp adventure that should be watched at least once. The ending is crazy! FYI, I have to say that I loved the outtakes on this one!』

(best thing ive ever seen)
『this is the best anime ive seen in years, you would be smart to buy it』

(Berserk - Anime Classic)
『Berserk is probably far from the prettiest video quality on this DVD that claims to be "remastered". But that doesn't really matter this anime is by far one of the greatest ever made. The story combined with great music pulls you right in and doesn't let go. while incoherent at times it more then makes up for it in every other aspect. if you like action and great story this is a must buy. Don't forget to watch the outtakes some of them are actually pretty funny. others pretty lame.』

(A must have)
『Berserk is the greatest anime of our time. An incredible story, action, and Kentaro Miura's artwork blend seamlessly to create a world that pulls you in and never lets go.

If you are a fan of anime, you need to own this series. The packaging and new cd artwork are a very nice touch as opposed to the other releases of the series. I did not notice a huge difference in the "remastered" version besides the original Japanese text in the beginning and end credits. Although, for some reason, the screen almost seemed to have a slight shakiness in the previous releases of the series. Whenever a scene change happened, I noticed a slight "bump" in the picture. That problem seemed to have been fixed in this release. The music seems more... full and robust in this version. The music in this series is a powerful accent to the already captivating whole of the series, so I found the slight music enhancements (they are very subtle) in this release to be a nice touch.

*If you own Berserk already, don't buy this unless you are a collector.
*If you do NOT own this anime, put everything else in your budget aside and buy this as soon as possible. Tell your friends! Heck, maybe your Mom might enjoy it! :D

There are plenty of reviews on the internet as to the content of the anime series and the manga (which is HIGHLY recommended!!)if you are wondering what Berserk is about. The price and packaging are definitely worth the time and money, and this series alone will guarantee personal satisfaction.』

(Berserk rocks, and the new set has better audio/video (see note))
『Just to give people who are unfamiliar with Berserk an idea of what to expect, I like to compare it to Lord of the Rings. Both series have a medieval setting (knights, castles, etc.), supernatural elements, endearing characters, and a great story. Here is a quick introduction to the story: A long war is being waged between the nations of Midland and Chuder. A mercenary named Guts is forced to join the Band of the Hawk, a seemingly invincible army of young mercenaries that has allied itself with Midland. The Hawks are led by Griffith, a brilliant military strategist who wears a necklace with a strange egg-shaped trinket. Griffith values Guts, but the female commander Casca wishes that he had never joined the Hawks.

I like the structure of Berserk. There is an emphasis on continuity. Every episode picks up right where the last one left off, and themes such as friendship, identity, and ambition are revisited throughout the series. The dynamic between the three main characters (Guts, Griffith, and Casca) is intriguing, and it evolves over time.

A caveat (or two or three)...the first episode of Berserk only makes sense in hindsight because it offers a glimpse of the future. The entire anime is a huge flashback. So if you don't like the first episode, don't worry. Just keep watching! Also, the anime ends with a shocking cliffhanger. Fortunately, the story continues in the manga. And finally, the series is quite bloody. Of course, the manga is FAR more graphic.

I highly recommend this anime series. It's incredible.

Note: The video and audio have been improved for this new release. Media Blasters is currently hosting a video that clearly demonstrates the superiority of the new release's video. Check it out (http://www.media-blasters.com/berserk/trailer/berserkcomp.mov).

『The entire Anime legend, Berserk, in one collection. Completely remastered, every bloody battle and brutal strike like they've never been seen before. In the castle town of Midland, a new king has come to power through treachery and violence. His demonic agents victimize the citizens, until one night a mysterious warrior comes to destroy them. Known as the Black Swordsman, he has an unrelenting grudge against the king. Before the twilight of Midland, a young mercenary named Guts fights for his fortune on the front lines. There he meets Griffith, who is charismatic, graceful and deadly. Griffith s mercenary company, the Band of the Hawk, is a powerful military force and the talk of elite political circles. Between the strength of Guts anger and Griffith's ambition, the face of midland will never be the same.』
