(Really great for small burgers) The patty maker is WONDERFUL. For years, I had one from Tupperware. The Cuisinart one is almost identical but much cheaper!! What's not to like? Although there are no instructions in the box, it's pretty simple to figure out. I love that it comes with four individual containers for storing the burgers, each with it's own lid. It seems like just another gadget to take up space, but it turns out perfect patties. I may never have to buy store bought veggie burgers again! The design here is good, and the product works pretty well. The only problem is that it's only about 3-1/2" in diameter, which if fine if you like small burgers, but I generally like to make mine about 5" in diameter. I tried this item and I really liked the way it works. A helpful hint, spray it with cooking spray before you shape the patty and it will pop right out! Recommended. The Cuisinart patty maker is a neat little combination of a standard size burger press with a sealable containers for storing extra burgers. I use it for both normal beef burgers and vegetarian lentil burgers. Its completely non-stick and the sealable containers are great for storing a handful of extra burgers. It is definitely a cuisinart product in that it is heavy duty and everything fits together perfectly - the press fits exactly into the cast, and the cast fits perfectly into the storage containers. Combine this with a good grill/skittle press (like the Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Rectangular Cast-Iron Grill Press from Amazon or the Williams-Sonoma Grill press) an it is very easy to make perfect 1/4 lb or 1/2 lb burgers. I ordered this microwave because of all the great reviews. It came yesterday and unfortunately I had to send it right back. The turntable made a horrible grinding noise anytime you used it. The lighter the item I was cooking, the quieter the noise, but it was just too much to put up with. I also noticed that the packing styrofoam pieces were broken and some were even missing. It made me wonder if someone had already returned it. Even if I got a dud or a return, I didn't like how far the attachment part of the power plug sticks out the back. It makes it impossible to put the microwave evenly against a wall. Since you must push a button inwards to open the microwave door, each time you do the microwave scoots a little because it's not fully against the wall. So I know I'd always be straightening it. Also, the start button is mixed in with all the other buttons and looks exactly like them, so it's a search to find it each time. But, it did cook the food well. And I must say that Amazon was very good about letting me just ship it back postage free for a full refund. Amazon is the best! We needed a smaller microwave that sucked up less power otherwise we'd have to upgrade the electrical system in the kitchen. This does the trick. No more blown fuses and it gets the job done. Reheating coffee takes a bit longer (60 seconds before, 90 seconds now) but it was an easy tradeoff for more counterspace and no trips to the breaker box. This is a simple, no frills microwave. Excellent value. I have no problems with this little microwave. I put a red/green sticker on the off/on buttons so I could see them clearly/faster. It heats foods/drinks fast. Love it! Everything is fine with this microwave. Everything works as expected. I mean, it's a microwave--what can I say about it? I had a 750-Watt Sharp Microwave for 7+ years that still worked except for one of the wheels for the turntable came off, which caused it to squeak. I was going to buy a replacement for the turntable wheels but that was $20-$30 plus shipping, so I decided to buy a new one. Now the blender actually works. This arrived very quickly and as described. I did a quick internet search on the best way to install it and it was a snap to do. Works perfectly! Thanks!! The part is the exact same part that comes with the machine from the factory. So no need to worry about some knockoff, that will fall apart quickly. It is made of some highly durable, rubberized material, that will take a beating. Even for all of us out there who misuse the blender by tilting the jar to crush up ice, it will last for a while. And when it does fall apart you will have an extra laying around because they are so cheap! Install was easy. Took about a minute, so I'm not sure how others are having issues. Especially ones who started taking apart the whole unit. Absolutely no need to do that. Either follow the directions that come with it (and try to find something to hold the shaft with), or stick a long screwdriver in the bottom of the unit to stop the motor/shaft from turning and unscrew (clockwise) the old coupler. My biggest tip would be don't abuse the blender by tilting the jar. That is the only reason these get chewed up. No abuse, means no replacing. Also, if you feel the need to start tearing your blender apart to replace one of these...stop. Put down any tools you have, actually throw them in the garbage because you shouldn't be allowed to use tools ever again...then call someone who is mechanically inclined and sit back in awe as they magically replace it in a minute. A+++ New in Package KitchenAid Blender Coupling - 9704230 I tried to order this part directly from KitchenAid, but they stated it was considered to be an internal part since it was connected directly to the motor shaft and thus there might be liability issues. They directed me to a local repair facility that only had a recording each time I called. I plugged the part number into Google and it took me directly to several sites. Amazon.com had the best deal. Installation tips - I followed the enclosed directions and had no problem removing the old coupler. I recommend a fairly wide flat blade screwdriver (5/16 " or so) with a long blade for more leverage. The just work the blade around every 1/8 turn or so prying up with the screw driver at about a 45 degree angle. After several prys, the softer metal of the old coupler will give way and you can just lift it off of the shaft. There may be a few of the old coupler threads remaining on the shaft. Just remove them and screw on the new coupler counter-clockwise finger tight. You are now good-to-go. Whip up a pina colada and celebrate your repair prowess! KitchenAid 9704230 blender coupling. We've purchased many and also purchased many replacement pitchers. They make wonderful tea (guests have commented how good it is) but the pitchers crack at the spout from the heat of the tea making process. We decided to try this hamilton beach model after reading the fabulous reviews and ordered two. We opened one to try it and made quite a few batches of regular and decaf iced tea. The design and execution of this maker are quite nice. Streamlined and sleak maker and pitcher, I really wanted to like this because it looked great. Better design like a slide which pulls out to hold the pitcher in place and the tea has no way to drip outside the pitcher. The problem is that the iced tea it makes is not very good. At first, I thought it was weak and added more bags, which made stronger tea but without the tannic taste that tea should have. I am surmising that the water is not as hot as the Mr. Coffee and so the tea does not actually "steep". We are discarding the opened one and returning the other. After deciding that we would go back to Mr. Coffee, I have found that they now have a new redesigned pitcher meant to go in the dishwasher and am guessing that it will not be prone to the cracks the others were. Back to great tea! I bought this iced tea maker about a month ago. It is the first one I've ever owned. A friend was telling me how great brewed iced tea was, to have it at home, with your own tea bags. I love iced tea, so thought I'd give this a try. I read lots of reviews before buying this one, and here's why I chose this one. The reviewers said that the design worked well... made good tea and didn't drip all over, like some of the other tea makers. Both were good points, and true. Another thing that sold me on this was the sleek design. It looks nice on the counter-top. Finally, I liked that for storage, it is fairly compact, as the tray the pitcher sits on slides in, and the pitcher can be turned upside down on top of the maker. The thing I didn't like about this tea maker was the price for what it does. It basically does the same thing any basic Mr. Coffee machine does. It made me wonder if I shouldn't have bought a coffee maker for half the price and been happy with that. But, to be honest (I paid about $30 on Amazon and got the free shipping)it wasn't really much more expensive than any of the others I looked at. Finally, it doesn't make a whole lot of tea, so if you want alot at a time, you'll have to do a few batches. But, for me, that's fine. I do not put ice in the pitcher and let the hot tea drip on it.... I wait for the hot tea to cool, put it in a closed container in my refridgerator, and have cold tea that I can add ice to throughout the day. Overall, a good product. I bought this unit, to replace a Mr. Coffee TM3 iced tea maker, which kept cracking the pitcher (mass defect - read about it). What a joke. This unit drizzles water into the pitcher. Sounds good, but if you use a tea bag, it floats on top! It does not allow the tea to steep, which is essential for good ice tea. You can use free tea leaves, but then the tea taste like grit. Do yourself a favor. Get the Mr. Coffee unit, order 3 replacement pitchers. And most of all - don't order products because of Amazon reviews! Feel a little flimsy, but it folds down well and doesn't take too much space. These were on my wishlist for a couple of months, so when I got them, I'd forgotten I wanted them. Now I don't know how I lived without them. I cool bread, cookies, and more on these. Sometimes even throw a hand towel over one, and use it as a dish drying rack. Stores well, works well. Good buy. These racks are great for small kitchens. The cool evenly and each rack holds about a dozen cookies. I recommend these to anyone who likes baking. I have always had one cooling rack and it's never enough. I end up moving the semi-cooled cookies off before I really want to, to make room for the next batch. I recently purchased a pair of the 12" tongs to go along with a pair I bought from OXO a few years ago. First off, the new pair is noticeably lighter. Holding the 2 side by side it's clear that the new one is made less sturdy and feels flimsier. While it's still one of the better tongs on the market for the price, I'm disappointed in the drop in quality. I've read that OXO has outsourced some of their products to China and it clearly shows as I have no doubt that my original OXO pair will outlive my new one. This is a must have in any kitchen! The second time I went to use this thermometer, the internal face spun around freely inside the enclosure. Obviously this makes it impossible to tell the temperature and rendered the thermometer useless. I always try to remember that you get what you pay for. For this product it's sadly too true. I didn't realize from the picture that this thermometer is only about 5 inches long. This is way too short for measuring the internal temp of a compost pile. Most of these are 18 in long so I thought this one was too. It's pretty much useless. I've owned one of these for about a year, and always handled it gently. But the thing is constantly putting itself way out of calibration. One day water boils at 202F (I live in Colorado), the next day it boils at 178F. I keep a wrench in my kitchen so I can always boil a batch of water, calibrate it, and then actually measure what I need to. But that is a huge pain and a waste of energy. Right now it's sitting in a bucket of ice water. This is very special water indeed--it's 12F! Other than its ability to measure temperature, yeah, it's great. This little fellow works great, and its holder is really handy in preventing it from falling in to the mix! This is a pretty basic, but handy little thermometer. It comes with a plastic clip-on protective case. One thing the description doesn't mention is that the hole you can insert the thermometer into for recalibration, can also be used to just put the thermometer into to allow it to sit across the the top of a jar. I don't consider it to be an "instant-read" since it does take a little bit of time for the pointer to spin around, but it is still pretty quick. Use this thermometer while your meat is still on the grill or in the stove to quickly&easliy read the temperature. Conveniently sized and priced right for every cook! This thermometer instantly ascertains the temperature of foods, whether they're on the buffet line or being cooked. Its 1-inch dial, protected by a shatterproof plastic lens, displays temperatures from 0 to 220 degrees F. The thermometer comes with a pocket case and has a 5-inch stainless-steel stem. The rings are a little to small for the standard size, but because there are mixed reviews, I'm guessing the manufacture is inconsistent with the size that is made. Maybe you will get what you need and maybe you won't. I was so glad to find these gaskets. Ther are impossible to find locally in our area. Quick delivery and great price too. But the good news is that a replacement is very easy to get. My new glass beaker was at my door three days after I placed my order. My challenge came in trying to brew my coffee while I was waiting (I used a small strainer with a paper towel). I do have a tip for not breaking the beaker-in the future-when washing it, don't have anything else going on and dry it and put it back into the holder asap.
