I needed a stainless steel microwave for my new kitchen. The microwave arrived with a dent in the stainless steel strip on the door. I returned it to J$R for an exchange. Because of a built-in shelve in my kitchen I am limited in options for a new micro-wave because of size. The Sharp R-216LS is the only microwave I could find that is stainless and fits in my space. I would probably order a different type after I saw the microwave. It does look okay, but the door is fairly flimsy and the stainless steel consists of only two thin strips on the door. Not surprising that it arrived with a dent, because the door does not feel very solid.

Very attractively constructed microwave for an unbeatable price. Beautifully serves my needs, although I would not recommend for heavy use.
We thought the price for the microwave given the brand and size of it was a little high, but we wanted a small microwave that somewhat matched our kitchen appliances so we bought this. The microwave itself works fine (it's acceptable), however the adhesive that was used on the front door is bad, very bad. At first we tried just rubbing it off with our fingers, then we tried a dry cloth, we tried soap and hot water, window cleaner, amonia, vinegar. Didn't work. Even tried wallpaper adhesive remover, didn't work. The stuff just smeared all around the door. After all of this effort, we got the door cleaned up enough to where we had just four nickle sized globs of this glue and basically what was originally there. Then a friend decided to bring over a brand name product meant for cleaning glue, it crystalized the adhesive onto the door and cracked the plastic. Now we're trying to find a new door for the microwave. The parts store does not have them. So buyer beware.
The only big complaint I had with this product (one mentioned by others) is the decal on the front cover - when you go to peel it off, you end up scratching the surface. I don't know what kind of glue they use for the decal/sticker, and I tried a lot of products to get this sticker off without messing with the look of the microwave, but no luck. Not sure why they didn't use a normal/conventional peel off decal that doesn't ruin the look of the appliance.

Maybe this cutter will work for some vegetables, but anything fibrous will destroy it.

The coarse grating managed to chop about 10 sweet potatoes before it broke, although we were being careful to apply even pressure.

The fine grating probably would have broken on the first potato.

Every time I think Chinese manufacturers can't get any worse, they prove me wrong.

This is a bit flimsy. I fear that when I am trying to cut potatoes it will break. You have to put a lot of pressure to get the potato to cut through the blades and I am not sure this machine will stand up to much cutting.
I loved this, I hate cutting up anything, I only use it for frys its great for small potatoes. but great for other veg.
Its way too small for french frys, unless you like 3 inch ones. Should change the name to small potato cutter.
This is an awesome kitchen gadget! We make fries about 1 or 2 x a month and for a family of 7, that's a lot of fries! Home made fries are so much better than store bought frozen fries.
You'll really have to try this to believe how well it works. I saw that a few other people felt it was too flimsy, but really it has to give a little or else it would break. Believe me, I've churned out a lot of fries and it's still in perfect working order.
Just buyit, try it, and you'll LOVE it!

My wife and I are both good cooks. We can afford to buy what we want. We like cast iron because it is a good heat transfer medium. Lodge makes an excellent quality cast iron fry pan. We own several Cast iron fry pans but we needed a second 8 inch skillet.

This preseasoned skillet is amazing. It is out of the box on it's way to becoming well seasoned. Good cast iron is a non-stick surface. It can take several years to break in a cast iron pan. This pan is almost non-stick after only a few uses.

Lodge has improved it's preseasoned product. This is much better than some we bought 2 years ago.
After much research and deliberation over all different types of cookware, I decided to stock my brand new kitchen in my brand new first apartment with Lodge cast iron. Everything I heard about cast iron was awesome, and how can you beat the price for a U.S. made product? You can't! I was so excited when I received this skillet, I made cornbread right away. I lightly oiled it and my cornbread fell right out and there wasn't a crumb left in the skillet! So many of the reviews I read on different Lodge products said that the buyer wished they had discovered cast iron before using stainless and non-stick pans for years and spending tons of money having to replace them. This skillet will last you forever and will only get better with time. I actually love that you have to wash it right away- less dishes to do later! I hand wash everything anyways so the non-dishwasher thing isn't a problem. I love the no soap thing too, saves me a ton of $$ on dish soap since I cook almost everything in cast iron. Just buy a stiff scrub brush! Also, I'm a vegetarian so if there's iron leeching into my food, bring it on, I'll take as much as I can get! I also have the combo cooker (3-qt dutch oven with a 10 1/4" skillet that doubles as a lid- highly recommend if you're on a really tight budget), the 10 1/2" round griddle (great for my boyfriend's bacon, haven't tried anything else yet), and the 10 1/2 square grill pan, I recommend them all! Next on my wish-list is the 5-qt dutch oven and the 12" skillet!

This pan is excellent once you properly season it. I have brand name pans that cost much more than this one and I prefer using this one over them. It will last a lifetime, well worth the money. I recommend getting the lid along with it, it will be the only pan you'll use in your kitchen. Great product!
I just love this skillet. I have been using it for three months now and I love it, would not change for any other skillets out there. It is non stick, heats evenly and works wonders. Perfect for the best pancakes, frying eggs, making grilled sandwiches. It is not that big as it might seem, but perfect for one large pancake, sandwich, two-three eggs.
Not heavy, easy to wash and care. Just love this cast iron skillet, don't bother buying other so called non-stick or other products. My non-stick pants' bottoms got scratched and that is not healthy to cook in them.

These knives are incredibly sharp, easy to clean, and have done a great job with everything I've used them for. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and I'm sure I'll have these knives for years to come.
I have been sick of buying knives that didn't do the job.

These are great and a steak knife can cut an overripe tomato easily. Speaking of steak knives, one of them was a little wiggly in the handle, barely noticeable and didn't detract from the 5 star I gave it.
These are the best knives I have ever owned! I would definitely recommend them.
Let's be honest, I'm totally cheap, so due to that fact every knife set I have owned has been a piece of crap... excluding this one. For the price it is spectacular. Out of the box the knives were all ridiculously sharp and I've had them for about six months now and they haven't dulled at all. Mine haven't rusted either but I don't put them in the dishwasher - it's not terribly hard to take a few extra minutes and hand wash them and if that means i get sharper knives for longer I'm down. When I bought these I was worried because ginsu was totally eighties infomercial stuff and i thought they might be low quality but I am desperately in love with these knives. I honestly don't think you can find better in this price range!
I was looking for a nice, functional, hopefully attractive, affordable set of kitchen knives, and this set of knives fits the bill perfectly. The knives are very attractive, well-made, extremely sharp, and oh-so-reasonably priced! I'm no chef, I just need the right knife to do the particular job I need to do at the moment. The stainless steel in the black block coordinates beautifully with my other black and stainless steel appliances, plus the knives and scissors perform the jobs they were designed to do. Don't know what to say about other reviewers' problems; all I know is that this set of knives has performed to spec for me. I noticed that the matching carving set is available here at Amazon, and I'm going for that set next. This set was very-well packed, and arrived in excellent condition and ahead of schedule. Highly recommend.

It's just a tube, but it seemed to work pretty good. Used my left hand to push the meat into the stuffer and the right hand to guide the sausage. Didn't have any problems stuffing.

Hint: bought collagen casings from Bass Pro store. It was a little bit difficult to twist (it kept coming undone). Collagen is supposed to be much easier to deal with than natural and not too much of a taste compromise.

If one wants to do a very little amount of sausage or maybe just want to "do" it once or twice just for the fun of it (and already have the grinder) then this attachment is a cost effective thing to use. But not otherwise. My recommendation is to not buy the grinder and stuffer together for the purpose of making sausage regularly.

This sausage stuffer is an accessory's accessory. The KA's grinder accessory that the stuffer is used with, is itself pretty good excepting for one thing that affects stuffer use.

I recall that in the "olden days" when I had a much older version of the grinder, the push-tube was tubular and fit the grinder fairly tightly, and if you have one of those, it may work better for the stuffer than the newer cost-reduced version where the grinder's "intake" pusher is a plastic handle that's attached to a plastic disk. Problem is that the disk is too small in diameter and when already ground meat is pushed into the grinder (to stuff sausage) a LOT of the ground meat goes by the pusher's disk, and it's very slow going and somewhat messy.

With the several year old KA grinder that I have (with the pusher described above), I'd give this stuffer kit one star, but for those who may have the older (?) better grinder pushrod, I'll give a second star.

Thing is, if one wants to do any non-trivial amount of sausage and/or make it more than a few times, just a 5-lb (meaning it does that much in one-batch) vertical stuffer can be had currently directly from Grizzly for about $80 including shipping. One of those is a thousand times easier/faster than this KA attachment. Not even close. (Still okay to use the KA meat grinder though!). Search the internet about the Grizzly sausage stuffer and see what a great cost-efficient and well working thing it is (or its Northern Industrial twin). Amazon currently sells the larger 15-lb Grizzly vertical stuffer.

The reason for a low rating is that I did not receive all the parts for a complete unit. I have not been able to use any part of this because I am missing the butterfly that goes on the end of the auger. I have tried to return this. It cost more to send it back and has been a hassle to contact anyone who will listen. Buying from this company is a joke.
Like the title says, I'm giving this product a one star rating because there's nothing lower. I bought this along with the KA mixer for myself for Christmas.

Like one reviewer stated, this thing fails horribly on three points:

The plunger has no seal, so the ground forcemeat just pushes back out instead of going down to the worm gear.
The worm gear doesn't seal either, so the plunger lets air into the chamber and the worm gear pushes it into the casing, creating air pockets in your sausage.
The stuffer is too high above the worksurface. I wound up putting mine in a kitchen chair beside the counter and using textbooks to raise it to the right level.

If you plan on making even moderate amounts of sausage, just do the smart thing and get a sausage stuffer. There is a very sturdy, highly recommended 5# model on the web, just search for stuffers and look in the $80 price range.

There's not one thing about this product that I can compliment, except maybe that it's cheap enough that I don't feel like I blew a lot of money on a piece of garbage.

This easily replaced another plastic sausage stuffer I had on my Krups meat grinder that was damaged. Works great!

We first saw one of these slicers on a sailboat charter in the US Virgin Is. and were impressed with its capability. On returning home, we bought one for our use, and one as a gift. Simple design and very functional.

I shopped all over the internet for one of these, and not only was this one the least expensive, but it also came with three different size cutting tools. It is so easy to use. And with three different size cutting tools, you'll have the right size to use on any pineapple. The handle easily snaps on and off. All four pieces are so easy to clean; you just rinse off. If you love fresh pineapple, this makes serving it a breeze. Definately a neat kitchen gaget.
The last time I visited my mother she used this product. I was impressed but figured I didn't need any more gadgets in the kitchen. Then I started buying pineapples on sale and cutting them up at home. I forgot what a mess it was and how much time it took, even with the best of knives. I always end up with pineapple juice everywhere and bits of brown spots on the outside of my slices since I try to get the most out of the pineapple.
I had to order this and see for myself how easy it was to use it.
It arrived today and I had a pineapple cut and sliced in less than 30 seconds. You cut off the top, choose the slicer part that best fits the size of your pineapple (small, medium, large), center it on the core and start turning. It was easy to do and out came a perfectly cut pineapple with very little mess and no waste.
If you like fresh pineapple, forget the knives and cutting boards, this is the only way to go.

I love fresh pineapple, I could eat it everyday happily. I however hate cutting up pineapples and hate spending $5 for a precut one at the grocery. I realized my local warehouse store sells pineapples for around $2.99. Purchased a couple and ended up waiting for my husband to cut them up for me. I saw this and thought why not try it. I thought it would be hard to do, messy, not actually work... WRONG WRONG WRONG. This thing is amazing. I researched online for weeks before buying an indoor grill. I thought about going with a more expensive model, like DeLonghii, but bought the Sanyo. I really, really wanted to love this, but there were two big problems: (1) it didn't seem to get hot enough to really grill the food, and, more important (2) the coating on the drip pan started peeling off within 5 uses. Within 10 uses, at least 50% of the coating had peeled, and we decided that we shouldn't continue to use it anymore. I emailed the manufacturer through Amazon, and the manufacturer said to send the item back and let them know the tracking number. It took me awhile to get the item posted back to them, but it's been a couple weeks, and I've heard nothing. Bottom line - I'm saving up for something more durable, probably the DeLonghii.
Well I bought this for my Dad for fathers day, however they shipped it to me instead of him. Thanks to great Amazon customer service they did an overnight Saturday shipment for free to my Dad and got him his. One thing about Amazon they have the best customer service anywhere.

So I decided to keep the one they accidentally shipped to me, since it was already here. I have used this several times now and am pleased with it. Especially on days I don't want to go out and fire up the BBQ. Exhaust fan over the stove on and there was no sign of smoke in my house at all. Even with it off there is very low smoke. Keep in mind there is no smokeless indoor grill, dispite what they say. Like any cooking, if something is too hot it will burn and smoke.

The heat is dispersed pretty well on this grill without noticeable hot spots. Clean up is a breeze....make sure you put some water in the bottom of the drip catch tray.

The only thing I could complain about is the tempature setting between 300 and 425 is very small and hard to dial in. Maybe its not a huge difference, more practice will tell.

Very good value for the money.

I recently bought the Sanyo electric indoor grill for my girlfriend's birthday and I have to say that we are both very impressed. The simplicity of the grill and the lack of time it takes to start makes this a great tool to use in the kitchen
This grill really is fantastic. It's virtually smokeless if you follow the directions and it's great not to have to use the outdoor charcoal or gas grill when the weather is bad or you're just not in the mood for outdoor cooking.

A few tips:

1) I set up my grill on top of my ceramic cooktop and what little smoke there may be is easily handled by my vent hood.

2) While it does usually take a little long to preheat if left alone, as another reviewer suggested, you CAN speed that up using a large jellyroll pan (mine is 18"x12" and it works perfectly) as a cover for the grill. When I cover the grill with the jellyroll pan, it preheats in about 4-5 minutes.

3) Thicker cuts of meat can benefit from this same trick. Use a deep pot lid as a dome over your meat to finish cooking the center and bring the meats up to safe temperature.

All in all, I'm tickled with this purchase and the low price makes it's just that much sweeter. I highly recommend.
This grill does everything as advertised. I read the reviews prior to purchasing and I noticed that the biggest issue was slow heating. Not the case with mine. It gets hot immediately and doesn't smoke at all. I'm happy!

With some trepidation, I ordered this food mill after reading the reviews that said it was too small. I thought to myself that it couldn't be any smaller than the traditional one-screen Foley food mills--the ones without detachable screens--and when I got it in the mail, I wondered just what the reviewers who said it was too small were talking about.

Sure, if you have one of the Roma food mills or the out-of-production Squeezo Strainer (and if you can get one of those, go for it, because they are all stainless steel and last forever) you can make a lot more. However, for smaller batches, it's so much nicer to have an easily cleaned, *large* food mill with detachable screens. Since I live alone, and sometimes just make enough for me or perhaps an experimental recipe that I don't want to initially make a lot of, this is perfect for my needs.

So if you were hesitating at the too small reviews, it is larger than the old Foley food mills. And much easier to clean as well. Go for it! :)
The mill works pretty well, but it's really a little too small for most applications. It's very time consuming and somewhat difficult to do something as simple as puree tomatoes.
I bought this as an adjunct to a number of other "little" tools that are particularly needed for a switchover to 100% "home-prepared" foods. (There is need to go "organic and natural/no preservatives, etc." around here.)

My first project was applesauce and it worked great. Since then I've played with machine on making mashed potatoes (using it instead of the typical masher), mashed bananas (for no good reason except to see it perform on something uncooked and fairly dense), some berries to make a sauce, and even kiwi fruit. It's an excellent product and works fine for everything I've tried.

The machine has legs which spread wide enough to go over any pan I have, or fold in so that it can be placed inside a shallow bowl. It rinses cleans in a snap and is dishwasher safe if you procrastinate rinsing off the blades. It's no big deal to store -- I just kerplunked it on top of my colander so it's always handy. I use it about three times a week so that the "investment" of the quite reasonable Amazon price made it a good buy.
I bought this to replace a food mill that had been my grandmothers... function finally won out over sentimentality - and am I glad! My daughter and I make apple sauce almost weekly and this is so sturdy and easy to use that she can do the turning all by herself (she is almost 5). Easy to clean too!
I have always wanted a potato ricer ... this one is rather ungainly and ackward to use. Perhaps a hand-held version would have been better.

Used for two years plus. It became useless because the connecting flexible metal point between the kettle body and the base became loosen and no longer conducting electricity to the kettle. Contacted Customer Service. They simpley said that it was out of warranty. Now, it is sitting on the kitchen counter as a decorative item.
This was a replacement to another kettle that lasted 3 months. It has survived its first three months and still boils water - a key requirement.
Pros:
- Clean lines

- Pours well
- Boils fast

Cons:
- on/off switch located under the handle
- water gauge hidden under handle
- outside gets extremely hot when water is boiled

It seems like no one actually looked at the usability of the design after the designers were done. The water gauge is hidden from normal view and have they not heard of thermal insulation because the exterior will burn you when the water's hot.

At least it still works....for now
After reading some of the reviews that complained of a plastic taste and smell, I was a little skeptical so was careful to keep all of the packing materials just in case. Well, after using this kettle twice a day, everyday for three months I have had not a single problem. It works great, looks great, and seems to be quite sturdy. My previous experience with electric kettles have all been the cheap plastic kind. This kettle hardly even compares to those. It boils water quickly and the auto shut-off is a nice feature. This kettle has become the single most used appliance in my house. And it works flawlessly.
After searching high and low for a kettle that had little or no plastic in it, exhausted, I finally chose this one. Honestly, I wasn't sure what I was going to find but there were so many good reviews I thought I should just take my chances. So far, it was a great choice.
As far as the plastic goes, there is very little. Just the two small holes that allow the water to go into the level indicator window on the handle side. This does not seem too bad to me. The lid has a plastic window too but just gets condensation so no problem. I usually remove the filter so I don't have to worry about that plastic either.
Love the blue light which illuminates the switch and the level indicator, actually does help to see easily where the water level is any time of day without having to squint close at it. Also, the lid is huge so cleaning or wiping the inside is really a breeze...other kettles had tiny openings that only a brush could fit inside...didn't want that! The ding when it is done boiling is quiet enough to not be obnoxious but load enough that if you are in the room or its fairly quiet and you're in a different room you can still hear it. The plug was a cool surprise! It has a ring design so when you pull it, its very secure to pull on, nice touch, love that too!
So far so good but I haven't used it too much so I will update this after it gets more use. Overall though, I would highly recommend this kettle as it seems to be very good quality and is very functional and well thought out in the details.
Ordered this to replace a piece-of-crap Cuisinart CJK-17BC kettle which failed. Works great. Very attractive design, with many nice features, and good attention to details.

The Senseo coffee maker produces excellent coffee provided one uses third party pods rather than Senseo pods. I strongly prefer Fratello, Millstone or Halo pods which seem to have richer, more robust flavors. The Senseo pods generally produce weak coffee, in part because they do not contain enough coffee. The above brands all fit in the Senseo maker despite containing more coffee in each pod. The Senseo Espresso pods are only ok, better than some Senseo pods.
Senseo Espresso pads make a decent cup of coffee but I wouldn't call it espresso. I appreciate the fact the pods are strong enough to make a decent cup of regular coffee and I admit I did not expect the pods to make the thick, rich cup of espresso I'm used to making with an old stove top maker. This is fine for what it is, but it's not espresso.
I enjoy my senseo so much more now that I have these pods. I had worked as a barista for 8 years and was having a hard time adjusting to life without free lattes. I certainly won't say that Senseo espresso by itself is in the same league as freshly ground, coffee shop espresso, but having the freedom to easily and cheaply make my favorite coffee drinks at home has been a Godsend. I usually mix two shot of Senseo espresso with a spoonful of Xylitol, a spoonful of Black and Green brand unsweetened cocoa powder, and a splash of half and half for a sugar-free mocha that tastes almost as good as one from coffee shop, but for about a quarter of the price. Try it!
I use one 'Espresso' on top of one 'Dark Roast' for a great cup of coffee.
I ordered the expresso and the expresso coffee pod holder and waited to be delighted. Well, Amazon didn't have a coffee pod holder for the Supreme model Senseo so I still don't know. They shipped me a "tea pod holder" instead. I ordered the expresso pod ho;der form the Senseo club and if I get time I will let you know how it tastes.
