(How did I live without this?) 『This is a FANTASTIC thermos. I use it for hot tea and it works so well I can't fill it with straight boiling water or else I'd be scalding my tongue all day. I fill it 1/2 with boiling water and 1/2 with cold tap water -- 8 hours later, I'm still almost burning my tongue (in a good way). I've filled it with tea in the morning, left it overnight, and the next morning it's still lukewarm.
I agree it's a little hard to wash since it's tall/skinny, but it's totally worth it. It's a great shape for putting at the bottom of a bag or on the side. Very solid construction of stainless steel.
I'm buying one of these for christmas presents for everyone in my family! I'm using it every day -- at $28 it's a great value for the amount of use I'm getting out of it.』

My chief complaint is the the screws which connect the pan to the handle. I noticed during the first use that food easily collects and sticks there. I have used these 5-6 times and each time I had to use a scouring pad to clean off these screws. Doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of a nonstick pan?
Although these are heavier than the cheap pans you might get at Walgreens, the nonstick surface itself does not seem of better quality. I have a nother Calphalon nonstick that had a ringed surface to augment the nonstick and I was hoping these would follow that pattern. Sadly they do not.』

(Sturdy, safe, tight sealing - wonderful!) 『I bought these bowls over a year ago after researching the dangers of BPA leaching from hard plastic. (I am a chemist, and the case was closed for me after I talked to a reproductive biologist at Washington State University.) My main concern was getting glass containers that would seal well and wouldn't be too heavy. I often take leftovers, sometimes soupy, to work, and I wanted to throw the bowls in my backpack and run off. I also wanted a bowl I could microwave with impunity.
I'm happy to say I LOVE these bowls - they seal tightly and clean up very well. Nothing stains (even, so far, the lids). I am so happy to have quality glass - a classic material that will last a lifetime.
The cons? I do get occasional leaks from a sideways bowl in my backpack, but that happened with the plastic tupperware I had before, too. I'm actually very impressed with the seal. Also, although I had read that the lids would age and crack, so far mine look just as good as new. I do wish the bowls were lighter. Finally, I wish they wouldn't come out of the microwave so hot; I need to grab them with a cloth or some napkins when I'm at work, which I don't always have at hand. (On the other hand, the hot bowl keeps my lunch warm longer, which is good because I'm a slow eater.)
Summary? Get these bowls! They're a great product, and the typical hard plastic Tupperware-style bowl is too dangerous to use in a microwave.』

There are two holes in the back of the coffee maker designed, I guess, so you don't overfill the water resevoir. When I'm pushing the coffeemaker back into place on our countertop after filling it, the water swishes and spills out of the holes. Then, when you lift the lid and pull out the coffee basket, condensed water spills onto the hot plate, another area you have to wipe up. I'll deal with it because I don't want to pay the ridiculous prices for another time delay coffee pot but it's a pain in the neck to keep having to wipe up spills』
(Great little coffeemaker: good value for the price) 『I actually purchased this at a local Target store, but bought it based on the Amazon customer reviews. I only make coffee once a day, enough to fill my commuter cup (~2.5 cups worth according to the markings on the carafe). It brews quickly, and the coffee is a lot hotter than what came out of my prior coffeemaker (a Black and Decker 4 cup maker). My commuter cup is stainless steel and I discovered that I do NOT need to pre-heat it with hot water like I used to do; the freshly brewed coffee from this model stays good and hot in my commuter cup for at least an hour. I'm impressed that there are so many features for the price, i.e, clock, delay brew, pause 'n pour.
Yes, there is one little quirk: the filter basket doesn't seat firmly if the lid is up (due to the spring mechanism that allows the pause 'n pour function)so you do have to take the carafe off of the plate at the very beginning of preparation and put it back at the very last (once the lid is closed and before pressing "START"), but that's such a minor thing, it's not even an issue with me (I just wanted to let you all know). I just rinsed it with warm water, sprayed it with Pam cooking spray, and grilled up delicious chicken and veggies for dinner. Right out of the gate for a new cook as I, perfectly done grilled chicken and veggies! Love doing pork chops on it as well. I've since grilled up veggies to compliment other dinners for Family and Friends. I use mine on a gas range with two burners on medium low heat. Clean up is really easy as well. Then re-oil, wipe with a paper towel and store away till the next use. The wife won't use mine because she says it's too heavy. Works for me because it won't be messed up when I want to cook on it. ;^)』

(Awesome! (wears like iron)) 『We just tried out the Lodge Grill/Griddle on a weekend camping trip and it was just awesome. Granted, its not for people walking the Appalachian Trail, but if you are car camping or out with the Scouts I can't recommend it enough.
First of all, it's nearly impossible to hurt. I don't care if a tree limb falls on it, it isn't going to do more than dint a bit. This means you can shove it almost anywhere in the car without having to be concerned about 'special storage'. Secondly, you can put the grill directly on coals or on a propane stove and it won't hurt the surface. On our scouting trip we did both and whatever soot accumulated came off easily.
Now, being a proponent of cast iron -- my grandmother started me off with some of hers when we first got married -- I was a little bit concerned about 'factory finish'. In fact, I brought some oil, just in case, but we never had to get it out of the car. The grill was finished beautifully. Just as good as my granny's.
We cooked bacon and eggs and burgers and Texas toast the first night and nothing stuck! (Okay, I'd only have expected the eggs to stick... but they didn't). We used a Coleman stove and guess what? The grill fit perfectly over the two burners and the grill was perfect for pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches. Clean up took only minutes.
Now... some hints and tips. If you are going to use the grill around children, you are going to have to remind them repeatedly that it stays hot for a long while. To that end, you might want to have pot holders or towels available if you want to move it shortly after use. The other thing you might want to have handy are paper towels. We cooked a pound of bacon one morning and the little groove on one side is not big enough for that much grease. To fix this --because you obviously don't want to have to pick up the grill and drain it into a jar -- use paper towels to carefully sop up the grease. You can throw these into a garbage bag.
Anyway, I highly recommend this Lodge product for camping. The flat surface is just so flexible and useful it's ridiculous. We plan to use it at home over two burners for pancakes and such. And out on the grill for fish and veggies.

My Chicken Fried Steak came out a mahogany color, and the crust had a definite burnt flavor. The frying oil was burnt, not reusable, and oil is not cheap.
Most authoritative cookbooks recommend 320° to 365°F for deep frying. The highest smoke point of readily available shortening is around 350-360°F, only canola and peanut oils are above 400°F.
I would put the ideal temperature at no more than 350°F, 50°F less than this fryer.
Presto Customer Service said I should only use canonla oil (contrary to the enclosed instructions) and if that was not satisfactory, I should return the unit.

I spent all day Sunday making various things - bread crumbs, grated cheese, sauce, dip, etc. I noticed the machine was losing power but thought maybe it was just very quiet. In the middle of a recipe, the motor died. I felt it, it was not hot at all so I unplugged, waited, tried again but called it.
I'm returning it, not sure why but once an item/brand betrays me, I feel better about using another brand. I hope no one else has the same problem - it is really going to be a pain to pack it up and take to the post office but I think I will shop around for a cuisinart as I hear they are indestructible.
