『We celebrated Thanksgiving early last night with my daughter and son-in-law before they head to her in-laws for Thanksgiving this week. She knew it was time to replace our old carving set and arrived with this nice gift - box and all. Dinner was a success, Martha has the best brimming tips, and the carving set was such a great price and did its job! I shop on Amazon often so thought I would take a moment to share my thoughts about this set for people making that last minute purchase before Thanksgiving or the Holidays.

I would have given this carving set 5 stars if it was not for the box. Sadly, like most well designed but poorly made things, this box has the gold and black label which reads "made in China". It has that cheap velvet lining kind of scuffed in places, the clasp to close the box was that shiny soft brass material and I am sure it will not last for long.

Enough about the box I really do not need it - it really comes down to the carving set itself. Perfect knife, nice fork. The set has been made with a nice handle; it has a solid weight and balance to the knife. The fact that the fork fits in a regular knife-block slot is certainly a plus. I will be using this set year round. A nice addition to my cutlery drawer!

『This was a gift for my sister and I opened it and looked at it before I wrapped it. After checking it out, I was so happy I decided to get this for her!

My sister didn't have a carving set and we spend most of our Thanksgivings together at her house. We have struggled without a good carving set for years and we always forget until Thanksgiving Day comes around again that she doesn't have a good carving set. This year I forgot again and we struggled with a puny fork and a regular knife. It was comical, but took a very loooong time to carve up a 16 lb turkey!

Thankfully, my mental note to myself this year worked and when Christmas time came around, I remembered to look for a nice carving set as a gift for my sister.

After looking for a while, I came across this set and I'm so happy I decided to get it. The knife and fork look well made and will last many, many Thanksgivings!

The knife and fork are nicely packaged in a really beautiful, heavy wooden box.

While we'll miss the fun and laughter we had while carving the turkey up without the right tools, I know that using this set will help us ensure we put hot turkey onto the table now!

My sister seemed very pleased with the gift and commented on how nice the set was. I got a big kiss on the cheek for this!』

『This is a nice bunch of handy tools to use for canning. The only one I don't like is the magnet on a stick. (You use it to pick up lids and rings out of hot water). The magnet isn't really strong enough to sucessfully hold onto a lid or ring long enough to get it out of the water. I ended up using my husband's telescoping magnet out of his tool box! All the other tools are great and very useful.』

『It took an hour or so to start off, but It went well. I have the wort in the keg and I assume it is fermenting nicely. In two weeks I will transfer to the bottles.

Everything seems decent in quality, nothing professional, but its a cheap fun way to start brewing beer.

『If you are looking at the Mr Beer kits here at Amazon this is the one to get. The cheaper kits come up a little short in my opinion and the next kit up from this starts selling you things you don't need. Amazon's price on this item is also good, being $10 lower than the manufacturers own website price.
Now, down to the beer. I got this kit last Christmas and it sort of sat around for a couple of months. Around March or so I pulled it out and somewhat begrudgingly made my first batch of home brew. I started with the Ale, as I don't necessarily like ales that much and I figured if I screwed it up I'd still have the Cowboy Lager. Well I didn't screw it up because it was so simple, and the beer I made turned out to be quite possibly the best ale I have ever had from a bottle! Mr Beer makes it so easy that the most difficult part is just waiting for the beer to brew. It is now close to eight months later and I have turned in to quite the home-brewer. I live in a small place so the two gallon batches are perfect. It does NOT smell despite what I had heard. And every brew is EXCEPTIONAL (and I don't say that lightly). Some tips if you DO decide to purchase this. FYI, it takes about one hour to sanitize and brew and one hour to bottle (about two weeks later). Let the beer brew for 2-3 weeks (unless it is exceptionally warm in your area). Also, if you really start to enjoy Mr Beer as I did, join their brewclub for cheap shipping on refills. By the way, refills run from $12.95-$17.35 and make two gallons. Two gallons is roughly 21 (12 oz) bottles of beer at 61-82 cents a beer. You just can't beat this deal for the INSANE quality you get. You just can't find beer like this in a store. I could go on and on but I'll stop myself here. Get this for yourself, get this for a spouse or friend. Once you motivate and get the job done you'll be HOOKED.』

『I used to work in a micro brewery and also brewed several batches of homebrew the standard way. I decided to buy one of these on a whim just for fun. I was more than skeptical about Mr Beer because of it's simplicity but after finally diving into my first batch i'm more than impressed! It IS very simple (almost completely idiot proof) and the end result is a brew that could easily pass for something bought at the liquor store. A nice light golden ale with plenty of flavor and almost perfect head.

The only part of the standard Mr Beer instructions that I HIGHLY recommend deviating from is the amount of time given for fermentation and conditioning. DO NOT go with the 7 days on either of these steps. The Mr Beer 2-2-2 rule gets it done to perfection.

2 weeks in the fermenter
2 weeks conditioning in the bottles at room temperature
2 weeks conditioning in the refrigerator


As long as everything is sanitized properly you really can't go wrong.

I live in an apartment and the little fermentation keg is the perfect size. Also, the instructions are easy to follow. I got my kit on Tuesday and had beer fermenting by the next night. Another thing that sold me on Mr. Beer is the extensive recipes and the Mr. Beer community forum available on their website. If you are looking for a fun way to learn about different styles of beer and start a fun hobby, I recommend this kit as a good starting point.』

『After using old sterno can fondue pots for 30 years, this one takes the cake. Itkeeps the temperature just perfect for hours - no fussing with sterno cans. I researched several other fondue pots and when I saw this one I loved the way it looked. I have a chocolate fondue fountain but it has its limitation (mostly just for chocolate). I used this Cuisinart Fondue Pot for a baby shower. It looks awesome and I am very pleased. The only problem is the "to short" plug. It will need an

『I bought this vegetable slicer so I could make vegetable noodles for raw dishes. I originally made the mistake of purchasing the Joyce Chen spiralizer, which is not at all the same as this. (For that unit, vegetables needed to be cut into 1" pieces (What's the point?!), whereas with this World Cuisine slicer, vegetables can be kept whole. Perfect!)

Admittedly, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to properly set up my zucchini to get it spiralized (I looked up a video on YouTube explaining how to do it, which helped greatly) - but now it's like second nature&spiralizing goes really quickly. This spiralizer serves its purpose well&is easy to clean (something I demand in my kitchen appliances!). I like that all of the blades can be stored in the body of the unit, and the suction cups on the bottom are so handy!

The spiralizer makes spirals the size of spaghetti (pretty thin, but not like angel hair), fettuccine (somewhat thicker), and thin shards (using a straight blade; I haven't used this one yet). I love having the variety of sizes to create. This spiralizer would also be great for creating curly fries from potatoes, but I've only made raw noodles so far.

I definitely recommend this spiralizer! Very fair price here on Amazon, too, as opposed to some other units I have seen.』

『I just got this set of cookie cutters and was pleasantly surprised when I received them. They're great! I ordered these and the Wilton Halloween/Fall set of 9 and both are perfect!

These are well-made, which Wilton always is, and the perfect size for cookies. Not too small, and not huge like some tend to be. Perfect!

My only problem was that the sleigh I received was broken - it came unclasped where the piece fits together. My husband's going to fix it though, so no big deal. =)

『I have had the Aeropress for 2.5 years now and use it everyday. I just ordered these, meaning that the filters that came with the press just ran out! You can reuse them at least a few times, just rinse after each use and dry. If you are making coffee for just you or another person, I recommend the press and these filters!』

『I was prompted by Amazon to "review recent purchases" so here goes. This is just (JUST??!!!) the filter component to the Aeropress, which kicks major butt as a coffee maker. I can't recommend it enough... and if you use the Aeropress, you'll NEED these filters that allow it to work in the first place.

So, yes, I LOVE THESE FILTERS which allow me to make coffee, which I cannot seem to live without. I grind espresso beans in a Solis Maestro, run that through the AP and wham-bam-thank-ya-ma'am... a wondrous liquid is born of mere water and plant matter.

"How long can this dude go on blathering over these simple paper filters?" one might ask.

『For a fast and truly flavorful cup of coffee the Senseo units are simply the best. The machine is simple and durable and easy to keep clean. We have had one in daily use for 3 years with no problems at all. The pods are reasonably priced and widely available from Amazon merchants and at the local Costco and supermarkets. There is even a variety pack with 4 different coffee blends in the box.

The Senseo uses steam and a pressure mechanism that produces a cafe Americano that is very close to what I get from my $500 espresso machine but with a lot less fuss and no cleanup. At $0.50 per cup it makes better coffee than I can get at a Starbucks - in fact it is impossible to get a real cafe Americano at a Starbucks or any of the other places with their computer controlled machines. They just make an expresso and dilute it with hot water for a miserable cup of coffee with zero crema.

Recommend getting the larger water 1 liter reservoir that replaces the one that comes with the coffee maker and doubles the number of cups you can make without refilling.

For the best coffee from a home coffee maker I use the DeLonghi DC312 on its slow brew cycle setting, but when I need that first cup in the morning an time is of the essence the Senseo coffee maker is hard to beat.』

I had an issue about 6 months after receiving it, called Phillips and received excellent customer service. They replaced the machine even tho I didn't have a receipt. The new machine did turn out to be one that was recalled, but again customer service was great and easy. I will never be without a Senseo as long as they keep making them. I agree that I would like it if they added hot chocolate and some other tea flavors, but the coffee choices are wonderful.』

A simple push of the "on/off" button and either of the one- or two-cup buttons starts the brewing process. Up to five 4-ounce cups can be brewed on one reservoir of water. Cups are not included, but almost any 4-ounce cup or 8-ounce mug will do the trick. All the removable parts--the pod holders, reservoir, coffee spout, plastic drip tray, and metal cup tray--are dishwasher-safe. 『I REALLY like this food processor. I went back and forth on this one and the Cuisinart, but this one got better reviews overall. It works GREAT! It is easy to clean, easy to store and I use it about 3-4 times a week. I can easily hide veges in my kids foods now because I can make them super tiny and hard to spot! And the black means you can't see stains from carrots! This is a great buy!』

The capacity is large enough to actually be useful for 1-2 servings (unlike the "mini" food processors that make 3 cups or so--forget those). At the same time, the base is small enough so that we can leave it on the kitchen counter: it doesn't take up a lot of space and get in the way. The machine is sturdy. It also crushes ice with more oomph than any blender.』

『I read all reviews, really researched and was excited to use! I spent all day Sunday making various things - bread crumbs, grated cheese, sauce, dip, etc. I noticed the machine was losing power but thought maybe it was just very quiet. In the middle of a recipe, the motor died. I felt it, it was not hot at all so I unplugged, waited, tried again but called it.

I'm returning it, not sure why but once an item/brand betrays me, I feel better about using another brand.
I hope no one else has the same problem - it is really going to be a pain to pack it up and take to the post office but I think I will shop around for a cuisinart as I hear they are indestructible.

『I recently purchased this item hoping to replace some of the gadgets we have in drawers and on countertops. It does a good job of replacing my blender, chopper and to some small extent my mandolin. The slicing and julienning feature is the only thing that I feel could use improvement. Although the 1 combo blade that comes with this machine does a good job, it would be nice to have more options. Other than that, I am happy with this item. I suppose if you want more options you would have to go with a much more expensive machine and I really don't need all of that.』
