(Nice macine for the money) 『No one should expect a restaurant quality machine for $100. I have worked in restaurants and therefore know how nice they can be. Was I let down when I got this machine? Absolutely not! Actually I am very pleased. I have sliced meats, breads and vegetables with it and it has worked great. I needed paper thin bread for a German recipe that I have and it worked great. I needed meat cut to¼ of an inch for another recipe and again, it worked great. The blade does rotate slower than a restaurant machine so you will want to go easy as you feed the food into it but overall it is a smooth working machine. Others have said the plastic piece holding the blade in is easily broken; I have just been gentle with that piece and have had no problems. My wife and I both agree, it is a welcome addition to our kitchen appliances』

Purchased the unit in reponse to ever increasing supermarket deli per-pound costs, with plans to use it to slice lower per-pound cost pre-cooked bulk deli meats from warehouse/resturant supply stores. Several years back my solution for a mandoline was the Bron, you know, that "the choice of chefs around the world" thingy.
My wife found the Bron cumbersome to setup/adjust and pretty much left the thing packed away and had to relearn the unit at next use.
Don't get me wrong, the Bron is an excellent device but it's meant for frequent use, it probably needs to be "broken in" to setup/adjust easily and frequent use means no extended learning curve on how not to damage the unit.
The OXO does all she needs, it's setup/adjustment is intuitive for the occasonal user and the "fear" of damaging an expensive kitchen gizmo is non-existent.

(waste of money) 『So I got this about a year ago, and it's only been good at taking up valuable space in my kitchen tool drawer. It worked great for about the first two or three uses, but then the blade got dull and despite all my best efforts I can't seem to get a good edge on the thing since it's more than a little tricky to hone a v-blade or a julienne blade all of which were dull when I got the mandolin. The set up of some of the other blades has been difficult and more than a little counterintuitive, not to mention dangerous. The plastic deck at the tip of the V isn't nearly sturdy enough so if you have to use any pressure on the food you're slicing, and you will, it dips down and then none of the slices are thin or uniform enough. The safety guard is an unweildy mess and I end up having to ditch it after a few seconds, which, you know is a great feature for a safety device. This thing is only good on softer veggies, or hard veggies that have been boiled to tenderness prior to use from what I can tell. Don't use this if you're trying to cut anything denser and harder than a boiled skinless yukon gold potato. Oh, yeah, and I think the only thing that's been sliced effectively on this thing after the first three uses has been my hand on more than one occassion. I'm not a novice with this stuff since I've cooked in restaurant kitchens before.』

We have used ours VERY frequently for about 10 years to make both poached and hard boiled eggs. For poached eggs, we found some tricks. When you start poaching, wait until there is a little steam and then put a tiny glob of butter or margarine in each cup. Swirl it around to make sure the cup is well coated. That way the egg will slide off the cup easily. Then, we use a plastic utensil (a plastic spoon or knife is fine) to "pop" the egg out, so the teflon does not scratch over time. BE SURE TO TAKE THE EGG OUT AS SOON AS IT POPS, so that it will not stick to the cup. That way you will have perfect eggs, and an extremely easy clean up.
To clean up, I take the cups and just wipe them clean with a paper towel right away. No soap or water is necesary. If you do it right away, after the eggs are out, the cups will be perfectly clean and you will protect the integrity of the surface.
I am SO glad Oster finally started making these again. I have no idea why they stopped.
They are very well made, but do not last forever. Over the years have resorted to buying several used ones from Ebay, since that was the only place we could get them. We are so in love with the PERFECT poached eggs these make, I can not imagine having poached eggs another way. They also make effortless hard boiled eggs. It's also a great gift for couples or families who like poached eggs.』

Making double batches. 28 waffles and counting. Need about 70 more waffles to break even $$$ with store-bought production type waffles. Still tweaking the batter recipe.
ADJUSTMENTS (personal preferences): RE-engineered the handle to lock down (in other direction) when the iron is closed (unable to open) in cooking position. Keeps the waffle iron from 'flopping' opening during storage. I painted some arrows (direction of turn) on the handle, too! RE-bent the tray to store with the cup (between iron and base). Haven't got into the lights, yet.』
(I should have heeded the negative reviews:() 『If you read through the reviews here and elsewhere you'll find a reliability problem. Ours died 1 year and and day after purchase. I figure 60 waffles total. It died 3 weeks after last successful use, element never heated up.
No response to emails from Waring. Probably 20% of these things die due to a faulty thermal fuse, the fuses are either under rated or defective. I can buy one for $1.25 + $5 shipping for the same junk that failed in the first place.
I "fixed" it by cutting out the open fuse and shorted the wires together with a solder-less crimped connector. If the heating element burns out, who cares.
Waring seems to be a company that doesn't care about the quality any longer.
I suggest passing on this product. My only suggestion why this waffle iron has "Pro" label, isn't really for mixed company. 』
