The last time I tried to use it the part where you plug the cord into the base of the coffee pot collapsed, making the pot unusable. I thought I was getting a quality coffee pot that would last for years, like my old Farberware percolator did, but apparently they are not made as well as they used to be.』

(This is not the Farberware you mother bragged about) 『To be honest, I do not own this specific model. My review is about what looked like and was sold as the exact same pot a few years ago. Correction, the three pots I bought a few years ago. When three pots failed (coffee not hot, electic sparks, heating element went) I did a little research. I do not have all the detail handy anymore, but I remember, the origial Farberware company was a privately held company located in the Bronx, NY. The original owners chose to sell the company instead of giving in to the landlord; do not believe it was a product or employee issue.
I believe licensing / ownership of the brand name changed a number of times. Today it is owned by Lifetime Brands, Inc., and the Meyer Co. holds the license to market products under the Farberware brand name. I think I got all this right; who owns and who licenses the right to market products under a brand name gets complicated.
Serve it to say, the Farberware brand our mothers knew and loved is not the brand you see on the shelves today. It's a darn shame. That pot made the best cup of cofee you could get, and it was HOT!
P.S. I purchased and had to replace/ eventually return the Presto Percolator I purchased at WalMart as well. I no longer trust electronics sold by WalMart as I do not believe they meet the same spes as a similar looking models sold in department stores. I might be wrong, but too many returns to trust further.

(Wine Bottle Stopper) 『We don't usually drink a whole bottle of wine at once. The cork doesn't fit back into the bottle well. This gadget answers our need. It fits snugly into the bottle (once I even stored the opened bottle on its side in the frig: NO LEAK!), and seals well. It pours without dripping. The stopper isn't cheap, but it's well made, and I expect it to last a long time. I gave it a four star rating because of the height added to the opened wine bottle; the stopper is fairly tall, but almost all wine bottles still fit in our frig with the stopper installed.

(Beautiful cover) 『I have a KSM90WH 4-1/2 quart KitchenAid stand mixer, and this cover (I got it in khaki with black trim) fits over it very nicely. It touches the counter with about 1" still left on top, and it completely fits comfortably around the mixer with the bowl still attached (not tight at all). The pocket on the side is great to keep clipped-out recipes in, and it is very deep. It is about 6" deep, probably.
I have my mixer on the counter in a little nook between my oven and a cabinet that it happens to fit perfectly in, so when I put the dough hook in the side pocket, I have to leave the top out of the pocket or else it won't all fit in the nook. If you have your stand mixer out in a more free area of the counter, this shouldn't be an issue. The attachments in the pocket do not make the cover tighter on the mixer, either, which is great.
The inside of the cover is soft, almost velvety, and the cover is machine washable (cold water, like colors, tumble dry low). I am very pleased with this product. It comes in a few different colors so you can match your kitchen/decor. WARNING - If you're looking for a pepper grinder than can create a fine enough grind like what you see in your average pepper shaker - forget it. This won't be for you. However, the five settings on this model are just perfect for me. I use the finest setting for table use, and the largest setting for thing like roasts and turkeys. The in-betweens settings are great for everything from soups to sauces, up to things like chops and stews, and everything in-between. One great feature is the upside-down operation that keeps your table clean. Plus, re-filling it couldn't be easier, and it holds a lot of whole pepper. I did my research and homework before I bought this. I didn't just get lucky, or choose this one because it came fully loaded with presh peppercorns. This unit replaced a Sharper Image electric bottom-lit pepper grinder. It was nice, but wore out quickly. The plastic housing wore to the point where the entire unit was too loose to properly operate. It barely lasted 5 years. I'm hoping to get more life out of this one. (Very Nice Grinder!!!) 『We very much like this Oxo grinder. First, we like the fact that the grinder part faces up, when placed on the table. No more messy spills or container underneath needed. Second, this is easy to use, fill and adjust. Third, these have color-coded ceramic grinding plates and the overall design seems sturdy and long-lasting. It grinds well. What we don't like is that the fill stopper fits a bit on the loose side and comes loose a little too easily, when you don't want it too. And then there is the color, if you like the black/stainless look, this is fine, but in our ivory/white kitchen, with our ivory/lightly pastel floral dishes, it doesn't look the best. But, if going for function, this is a great grinder. We wish they were a little lower priced, but would purchase again.』
(second one's a charm) 『We purchased our pepper grinder from Amazon in mid August of 2009. We like that the pepper can be ground coarse or fine and that it doesn't leave bits of pepper on the counter because the business end is placed up when sitting on the counter. We encountered one big problem right away. The cap on the end where you refill the pepper was very loose with no way to tighten it. On several occasions after grinding pepper over our plates and upon up-righting it a flood of peppercorns would either spill out over the table or on our plate and onto the floor, much to the amusement of our cat. We decided to contact the manufacturer who requested we mail it to them so they could examine the unit and send a replacement. The second grinder arrived with a nice tight fitting cap and no more spills. Too bad we had to pay the postage to have it mailed to them but at least we got a properly working peppermill out of the deal. And we do like it a lot. My husband is a pepperaholic so we get lots of use out of it and it looks really nice on the counter next to our stainless steel cook-top. Also, it isn't very intuitive and the few times we've had company and brought it to the table we have had to explain how it works. The blades in this grinder are better suited for grinding spices and the stainless bowl is removable and washable. I use it for grinding all types of spices, including cinnamon, ginger, allspice, peppercorns, mustard seed and coriander just to name a few. I've even successfully used it to chop up fire-roasted fresh serrano chilies for guacamole since I don't have a mini food processor.
The unit comes with a plastic lid which seals onto the bowl to store ground spices. I have not found this lid very useful. The whole point is to grind spices fresh just before use and not to store them. In some cases I do make large batches of spices such as curry powder or chili powder. In that case, I store the end product in a sealed glass jar. I wouldn't consider using the grinder bowl for long-term storage (I need the bowl too frequently for day-to-day grinding tasks).
PROS: Easy to use, top and bowl are removable and washable. Does a good job grinding all types of spices. Well designed and attractive. The base is heavy enough to make the unit very stable and feel very solid on the counter top.
CONS: (or cautions): hand-wash top - dishwasher heat may melt or distort shape of top - if distorted it will no longer work.
OTHER THOUGHTS: Unknown to me, a guest put the top in my dishwasher causing it to distort out of round. After that it was impossible to fit the top onto the base and therefore it could no longer be used since pressing on the top starts the motor. Fortunately a replacement top is available directly from Cuisinart at a very reasonable price. Save yourself the hassle and only hand-wash the top. This is not a big inconvenience since a simple rinse-out of the dried powdered spices is really all that is needed.』
