They were okay but not the best. Here we are years later and I made the decision to go back to Faberware. I see what I have been missing. The best cup of coffee you can get anywhere. I always preferred perked coffee over drip coffee. I have a 4-cup Farberware that I love, but needed a bigger capacity pot. This percolator does the trick. Farberware has always been a good product. The only thing I can find wrong is the cord, could be a bit longer. I highly recommend this product and would buy another without hesitation. Slightly more hassel than our Bunn but coffee is much better. It is a little small but we just make a second pot. Wish they made it in a 12 cup. Fast. Prepares the coffee quickly and keeps it hot. Although the cover is a little tight, as others have reported, it is no problem at all to open it. I've owned two of these. Each only lasted about two years. I expected more from Farberware. One of the reasons I started buying these percolators is because my mother-in-law has had the same one for 20 years. It still outdid my newer ones in terms of performance and they both broke. So I did a little research. This model is built in China by a company that's not Farberware. That company bought the name Farberware and uses it to sell products. The old Farberware you remember built products in the Bronx. They were built to last. After finding this out, I decided to find a used Farberware percolator from the old company. I found one on a leading online auction web site and purchased it for $20 (shipping included). It has been everything I thought it would be and more. Beware the brand names. Know who really makes that product before you buy. You'll be happy you did. Its got a nice heft to it, and non slip handle is good but it hurts my hands/wrist to squeeze the garlic - not a problem with my old cheaper version which got lost in a move. I cook, my husband cleans, and he hates it when I use this bc washing it is difficult... if you just put it in the dishwasher, you'll end up with garlic still stuck in it afterwards. I have been using this garlic press for a couple of weeks now and have been very satisfied with it. It's very sturdy and really has a lot of oomph to squeeze out the garlic. Looks like it will last a long long time and we eat garlic often around here! I started out looking for a Zyliss press but settled on the Trudeau due to price point and excellent reviews. I'm giving it four stars instead of five because of some difficulty with cleaning out clove residue. Have used it for about a month now and find it to be quite satisfactory in all ways but the afore mentioned cleaning. For the money this press is a great deal!!! It does what it is advertised to do. This blender is just the right size for me. I blend my smoothie in the morning and grab the travel cup and drink it while driving to work. The only thing is it smokes a little bit. Nothing to alarm me, but enough to smell. Otherwise a great product! I bought this product primarily because I needed something to use in the camper, but I find myself using it almost everyday. It works great, even chopping frozen berries for my smoothies. The only drawback is that its not dishwasher safe. Other than that this has worked great, and served its purpose. Excellent for the money spent. I originally bought this blender for my husband who was in the hospital and needed a way to get calories (he hated the hospital food). I love it so much, I am buying a second one just to have as a spare in case the one I use now breaks. It crushes ice perfectly every time. It's the perfect size for one smoothy/protein shake. I am so glad I bought this little blender. It is exactly what I need for making smoothies. I have a Back to Basics smoothie maker with a pouring spout and that is fine for making smoothies for the whole family, but I also make them daily for myself alone, thus the need for this personal blender. When I make my smoothies in this little blender, I use 6 to 8 ounces of plain yogurt, 4 frozen strawberries (available at the dollar store), 1 TBS wheat grass powder, 1 TBS ground flax seed, agave nectar for sweetening, and top it off with some milk to make it more fluid. I also use bananas when I have them. The result is good, but a little gritty because of the flax seed. I don't mind, though, because I am feeling great. The flax seed not only lowers my cholesterol, but my joints feel better as well. This product is easy to clean, and that includes getting ground flax seed out of it. You have to pulse it, instead of keeping it on full blast, but it doesn't take long at all before the frozen strawberries are all blended, and I can enjoy my smoothie. It makes great milkshakes, too. I have had mine for about 6 months now, and I love it. If it broke tomorrow, I would go right out and buy another one, because it is so handy. You can take your smoothie drink with you, because of the handy container, but I drink mine at home, so I can't really say how it fits into the cup holder in the car. There is a burning motor smell almost every time you use it, but it doesn't seem to be a problem for this little machine. You will have to make sure it is properly seated in it's motor base before you turn it on. I also like that it doesn't take up much counter space. I can leave it out, and it's not in the way. (THE ONE AND ONLY) Before I start my review, I wanted to make a few opening statements: A) Anything with an electrical cord attached to it could potentially go bad - it is called the "bathtub curve" - many electronic products fail in the first four years (and most of these fail within the first year), the failures plateau out and stabilize for a number of years, and then all fail over a long enough time stretch. B) I understand that not everyone has been as fortunate as me with this particular Cuisinart coffeemaker. That being said, I have a Cuisinart DTC-975 that has been going strong for SEVEN YEARS now. It has passed hands during that time period amongst various family members, and found itself back to me. The only maintenance I have found necessary is the periodic cleaning with vinegar and water (I have hard water). I understand how the filter basket interacts with the lid, prefer paper filters over the gold-tone filter, and just have not had the spillover problems that others have talked about because I always make sure the caraffe lid is fully closed and lines up with the drop-down element in the filter basket. I only rate it 4 stars now, in 2009, because it just doesn't LOOK as good or as solid as the coffeemakers that Cuisinart has produced since this DTC-975 was originally purchased in 2002 - and this is purely a matter of taste/opinion. I have to concur with the other positive reviewers that the warning beeps are not loud at all - in fact, I smell the fresh-brewed coffee in the morning, and this has woken me up on occassion - the beeps have never once awoken me. I find it too quiet, if anything. It is also no louder than any other programmable drip coffeemaker I have dealt with from Bunn to Kitchen-Aid. If noise is a huge concern, I have since found a Cuisinart model that is 12 cups with a thermal caraffe that has a switch to turn off the beeps - it is the DCC-1400 (or the DCC-1400WS for Williams-Sonoma shoppers). I just felt obligated to post this testimonial in case some people were scared off by some of the negative reviews. I'm not saying that yours will last seven years if you buy it today, but I am saying that it COULD. Ok, I've had the DTC-975BKN for 3 weeks now and I love it. I haven't had any problems with it. I do have to say though; I'm extremely careful about making sure the lid to the carafe is screwed on and pointed to pour. I'm also obsessed with making sure the reservoir lid is closed, making sure I hear the click before pressing the "on" button. So far, it makes great coffee&keeps it hot. So far, so good. Generally happy with the unit; have used it now for over a month. Good points: 12-cup capacity, brews fast, looks good, thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for some hours and the spout is the best by far of any coffeemaker I've ever had. Downside: Poorly designed snap latch for the grounds basket. If it pops open a bit while brewing, the coffee will overflow. After first week of use I returned the unit, fortunately the replacement works better. While the fit doesn't seem too secure it hasn't popped out in a month of use so I'll keep it. Great service from Amazon on the no-charge return, wow. I drink a lot of coffee throughout the day and I love this coffee maker. I recently purchased it to replace my old "no carafe" style coffee maker and I'm glad I did. I was skeptical at first that it would keep the coffee hot for long enough but it really does keep it hot for hours. You just have to make sure that the lid is on properly or it will overflow. I love that the machine is not running constantly to keep the coffee warm making it energy efficient. Highly recommend this coffee maker! The search is over, THANK HEAVEN! After buying, trying and returning FIVE coffemakers in one month - this is it. As Brazilian coffee snobs, our expectations are high - our hopes were fading. Buy this model ONLY. We also tried out the two much higher-end Cuisnarts, including the ones with built-in grinders. Those also, for some bizarre reason, have basket filters - YUCK! Even super high end burr-grinder model (at nearly triple the price) was a dud and didn't come close to a decent espresso grind... just grind you own at Trader Joe's or buy an expensive, heavy duty burr grinder and be done with it. This one has it all - cone filter, decent capacity, and coffee stays hot LONG ENOUGH!! We might just buy 4 or 5 to take us through to our old age! It's subtly different from the others I've used in the way that the end of the pestle and the inside of the mortar bowl are textured, making grinding easier, while the parts that are made for holding are smooth. I am well-satisfied with my mortar and pestle set purchase. From a web search, this appeared to be the best product value for the money, and experience bears that out. I gave it a hard workout grinding all of the spices for harissa. Using the red spices for this recipe was also a good test for cleaning -- every trace of spice and garlic came off readily when I washed it. I'd also like to commend the quality of the packaging. It appears that it would have taken massive shipping torture to damage this fragile item. While S&H added a lot to the cost of an essentially low-priced item, I know that I couldn't have driven anywhere in my area and paid less, just for a similar set, than the total cost (including S&H) of the product. We mounted it on a stud in the garage wall above our recycle bin, it crushes cans with ease and then drops them right into the bin. This saves a lot of space in the bin, and it's much less work than stomping the cans flat. I've already recommended this unit to my siblings, I think you'll like it too. I bought this model and one of "The Crusher" models. I mounted this one in the garage because it is not made of steel and put "The Crusher", a steel model outside.(We have very cold winters, here and I worried that the Easy Pull may crack or break outside.) The Easy Pull works great and out performs The Crusher easily. I keep a five gallon bucket lined with a trash bag underneath it and I like how the can just drops right in the trash without having to even touch it again. For best results just slightly squeeze the can and leave a small impression in it before loading it into the Easy Pull, it crushes it without using as much pull down force. The Crusher, although being made from heavier material, is a disapponitment. It does not automatically discharge the can, and it constantly spits the can back out when you pull down to crush it. I did get a refund, but Amazon and the supplier refused to replace it, so the outcome was that I have to order it all over again. I have another model that works fairly well, but the foam seems to dissolve fairly quickly when it is spooned onto the coffee. this was recommended to me by my sister. It works really well with skim and low fat milk. I was skeptical that this little thing would do a good job so I also ordered another frother at the same time I ordered this one. The other one barely worked, but the Aerolatte To Go works really really well. It is quick and does a fantastic job as creating a fine froth that doesn't deflate and is indistinguishable from steamed froth. Clean up is very easy - wash it off and then spin it under its own power to spin off the water, stick it in the case which has some tiny holes in the bottom for air flow to prevent moisture from building up, and stick it in the drawer. I have ordered several of these. They are a bit delicate - can't get banged around or they will break. But, I have a stand from a previous frother and I don't allow my kids to touch it! I have a metal one and also bought this one for my mom to take back to the UK. It is so portable and light - no weight at all. I haven't had any major problems with it, only suggestions for better use. The darkness selector could be a little more sensitive (as it currently is, you can wiggle it back and fourth about 1 whole level and you can feel that it's not changing anything.) The indicator light could be raised a bit more, so you can see it better from across a room. I know some of the more expensive waffle makers have an audible signal to indicate done, which would be nice as well, but not a necessity. [...] I was mildly disappointed in receiving this as it was smaller than I expected. It works great - just takes two runs to make waffles for two. Overall this is a good waffle maker for the price. With typical waffle batter, you need to leave it on high, and let time go past the time the green light goes on. Somewhat cheaply made. Handle for slide fell off (lost) in 3 months, so we now need to do the slide by inserting a kitchen utensil. Still trying to get replacement from Amazon or Cuisinart. Glue it on with super glue as soon as you purchase!! The temperature control is cheap and flimsy (I doubt that it even does anything). As others mentioned here, when the batter spills out it gets into the switch and into the giant groove. Not a good design. Waffles come out good, but it doesn't cook very evenly. If you're looking for the kind of waffle maker that will cook the perfect crispy consistently golden waffle, and will last more than 6 months, this aint the one. I bought this product based on a fairly good review history but ended up returning it a week later. The waffles continually stuck to the top plate. I tried various oils and sprays with no luck. I bought this product to replace my 19 year old waffle maker, which was an Oster Designer Waffle Maker (BEST WAFFLE MAKER EVER). Unfortunately, Oster no longer makes this product. Needless to say, I will keep searching. There are few things that beat a freshly made waffle for breakfast or brunch. Serve it with fruit, ice cream, maple syrup, or sugar. Homemade popsicles can save money, reduce the trash that we toss, and will help to save resources. They are fun to make, as kids love to experiment with different combinations. But a few words of caution: please note that there is a big difference between the Craft Sticks found here and the ones being reviewed. Craft sticks are just for use with crafts, while the ones in this review are essentially a food-grade item, though they can be used for crafts as well... think of these as being dual-purpose. You can make your own frozen pops using waxed paper cups or a mold, such as the Progressive International Freezer Pop Maker which will mold then into a more convenient and traditional shape.
