(I love this machine) 『I really do love this machine. I talked my aunt into buying one for me for a wedding present. Needless to say, the mixer has lasted longer than my marriage. I haven't gotten any of the fancy attachments or extras. I just have the bowl, and the three basic attachments (paddle, whisk, and bread hook). Addmittedly, I think I've only used the bread hook a few times. I have a bread machine, so I just don't need to use it. However, the mixer has enabled me to make hundreds and hundreds of cookies every winter holiday season. I also use it to make mashed potatoes and massive amounts of zucchini bread (you know,from those monster zucchini that get away from you in the garden). As a matter of fact, my mixer has helped to make my reputation of being an above average baker. My mixer has never let me down. It is heavy enough to mix the really tough doughs and fast enough to whip up egg whites. My only complaint is that the little handles on the "lock" and "speed" switches fell off almost immediatly. Not a big deal, but slightly irritating.』

If it's after a year it isn't their problem it seems. I think when you pay hundreds of dollars for a product it should come with some sort of care. If you tried a setting and it worked, then it will give you the same result every time you try it again, considering the same type of bread of course. I live in a dormitory and don't have a toaster oven, so I had to be a bit creative to make my toasted melted cheese sandwiches. What I do is, I put the cheese toast sandwich in the microwave for about 30 secs, then put all of it in one slot of the toaster. Luckily the slots are wide enough for it to fit without being squeezed. I also put a small piece of aluminum foil beneath the sandwich to avoid the melted cheese dripping onto the toaster base, but this rarely ever happens because the two bread slices will be slightly compressed once the thing is turned on. Still you have to put it for safety. I also put an aluminum foil vertically in the other slot to block the heat from that slot from burning the sandwich side facing it. This foil should be slightly larger than the sandwich size. Putting the heat setting on 1.5 is enough since the bread will already be hot from the microwave. More than that and you'll have burned sides. It sounds complicated but is actually pretty fast and straight forward. It's a good way to make your ham and cheese sandwich on a low budget in a space constrained environment such as a dorm room.』

We've been very happy with them, especially the hollow-edged santoku. Unlike some of the other reviewers we haven't had any problems with rust; when the knives are washed and dried promptly, it's really not an issue. The only caveats we have are that the handles are a little light (but you get used to that, and the quality of the blade is what matters) and that the steak knives are not that useful, partly because they're not serrated, mostly because we don't eat steak. I could also wish for another paring knife, but that's a very minor complaint. 4-5 stars - I'd've done 4 1/2 if I could.』

While I'm not saying it's quiet (are there any good blenders that are?), I was pleasantly surprised by not having to so much as consider earplugs as a necessary accessory when using it to make a slushie, which it did in no time flat. This machine is fearless when it comes to making snow out of ice cubes, even with very little liquid as a buffer. When it comes to something without any frozen components, the noise level is, of course, much less. It's nice looking, sturdy, powerful, easy to clean, easy to use, and grips the counter like a champ even during the most demanding tasks. I almost paid ten times this much for blender when I decided to take a gamble on this one. It was a good decision :)』

We've also made marinades and sauces in it, and they have blended beautifully. My poor daughter has been married now for three months and is shipping it back to Amazon. The only thing it is good for is boiling water. She is a great cook and the cookware burns everything she cooks. She has tried lower temperatures since she is used to cooking on gas at my home and now has electric. I does not make a difference. She says it is like cooking on tin foil. I knew that Farberware makes cheap products but I thought they were revamping their image with the eco friendly line. It seemed like an upscale version of their other cookware. Not so. It is the same quality. The Consumer Reports Best Buy category means nothing to me now. The proof is in the burnt pudding. We will return this and pay more for Calphalon.』

I made some rice and on purpose I left the pan on the stove much longer than necessary and it did not stick nor burn. I do take good care of it. I only use bamboo utensils or plastic and I wash it by hand (so easy you don't need a dishwasher) and I use a soft sponge. I just wish they would sell separate pots and pans of it. So far the only pan sold separately is the big skillet, which I bought it too. I would love to have an extra dutch oven but I don't think they sell it separately. I guess I'll just have to by another set. Anyway, I loved this set and my husband did too. The tip unscrews and fits over a dishwasher spindle, the tube fits over another and the bulb fits over a third. I have confidence that it's really clean before I put it away. The other basters I've had didn't come fully apart, so although I put them in the dishwasher, I never felt comfortable that they were really clean inside.
I'm very pleased with this baster and find I use it more often because I know it's easy to clean thoroughly each time. If I overwater a plant I can suck the extra water out of the saucer, for example. If I've stored a mixed salad in the fridge that has developed some 'juice' at the bottom, I can suck it out. I like to extract pickle or olive juice out of the jar sometimes to add to salad dressings I'm making--easier with this gadget than tipping the jar and holding back the contents while I pour. I find lots of uses now since I'm confident about getting it really clean. A great kitchen tool. 』
