(Makes morning coffee easy)
(Very good and very bad)
(Wonderful Water)
(Good product) Boils water much quicker than my old stove top kettle. Easy to clean. Can't go wrong with this product. I use it every morning to heat the water for my coffee. It is perfect for the job. In addition, it looks nice on the counter top so you don't need to put it away. I am very pleased and have recommended it to my friends.
While it does get mineral deposits quickly (white on the element), it cleans even easier. I heat vinegar in it once a week or so. The rest of the pot hasn't even gotten dirty yet.
You can turn it on without any water in it. I did that once and had to leave the thing to cool off before I could do anything with it. It has ALWAYS shut off when there is water boiling in the kettle.
Mine did start with that nasty smell. But the smell went away with use. After a while, it is fine with no smell at all.
Someone else recommended using it to pre-boil water for pasta etc. That works great as it is so very fast.
I have been using it on a daily basis for +3 months. It continues to work well. This is a beautiful kettle and it boils water very, very quickly. But the reviews about the the foul chemical smell and taste are correct, at least with mine. I chose to ignore the bad reviews regarding the smell and I bought this two weeks ago. As soon as I unpacked it I could detect what the other reviewers were referring to. Every night since I got the kettle, a solution of either vinegar and water, baking soda and water, or lemon juice and water has sat in my kettle, all to no avail. I called Capresso after the first week and the customer service rep acknowledged the problem and suggested the lemon juice. She was very nice and told me to be sure to call back if that didn't work. After a week of trying the lemon juice, I still got the foul smell and taste in the water. I use filtered water that tastes fine before it goes into this kettle. When I called Capresso back, as directed by the first rep with whom I spoke, the rep who answered my call told me that I could send it back and they would replace it with one that "has been tested and doesn't have the smell," but that I would have to pay for the shipping. I didn't feel that I should have to pay for shipping so I asked to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor told me there are no problems with the kettles; he is unaware of any chemical odors and that I could pay for the shipping or return it to where I purchased it and have them replace it. When I explained that I wanted one of the ones his rep told me have been tested and have no odor, he denied all of that as being completely false. He got very nasty and said he could care less that I wasn't happy with my kettle.
I am especially disappointed in Capresso and their customer service. We have been loyal Capresso customers with their coffee products and have never been disappointed. The kettle, however, has been a big let down. I am an avid tea drinker; the chemical taste is that is getting into the water when it is heated is beyond discernible, it is prominent even in cocoa and strong tea. If this is going to matter to you, don't buy it. It is really a shame because it is a beautiful kettle and does work well. But I am tired of dumping out undrinkable cups of tea due to a foul taste and am returning this. Our H2O Capresso Kettle is well into its 3rd year and we are as pleased as we are with several other Capresso products in our kitchen and office. I was concerned with 11 very negative reports and read them, then concluded that these people didn't bother reading the warranty or contacting the toll-free number for repair, replacement or satisfaction. This company has been in business over 16 years and has an outstanding quality control and consumer service record and their products are designed and distributed by the primary manufacturer of coffee and tea makers in Europe. Besides having a hot-looking design, it really works well and automatically shuts off when water reaches the boiling point. This is a great product and excellent value We have had this product for a few weeks. It works great, very happy with the purchase. There is a slight odor as some people complain about, but it has almost completely dissipated and does not affect the taste. Would recommend the product. A practical household item in a beautiful design! The Capresso cordless H2O Plus glass water kettle with auto shut-offs and illuminated blue operating light boils water fast, quietly and safe...then shuts off automatically. A gleaming stainless steel dome which is easy to clean covers the concealed heating element. The German-made SCHOTT heat resistant glass has ounce and cup markings for easy filling. (Digital Thermometer)
(Awesome)
(Kept shutting off) I bought this thermometer after our glass, analog Pampered Chef one broke. I figured digital was "better" somehow than analog, and probably more accurate and easier to read precise temperatures for candy and deep frying.
Well, a couple things have turned me off to this particular digital thermometer, and some free comments about digital in general.
First, this thermometer: I must say first that this one is 'OK' -- it works and I use it. Here are a couple annoyances: It has a clip on the metal rod/probe that I think is supposed to hold it firmly against the side of the pan/pot you're cooking in. Well, in short, it doesn't. I was deep frying something last night and again, I had to either catch it from falling over or reach over the hot oil to get it off the stovetop after it slid off the pot several times. It's top-heavy, and it tips and falls over easily, and the clip is not strong enough to hold it steady. Point two, this thermometer only goes up to about 390F, and if what you're cooking is higher than that, the temperature blanks out and it beeps until the temperature comes back down below 390F. Fine -- so the oil is too hot. It's OK to beep, but can I please see if it's either 391F or 500F??
Next, digital thermometers in general: I don't think they are any more accurate then a regular analog type thermometer. The analog one we had was just hard to read the scale and tell the difference between, say, 233F and 238F, which could make a difference in how your candy comes out. So in that sense, the digital one with numbers is easier to read. The electronics are nice to be able to have an alert when the temp reaches a specified number (one of their preset ones only, though). But, you're probably watching or stirring the pot right there anyway.
You know, I think next time I would take a well-marked analog thermometer that has a good pan clip on it. You can see how fast something is heating/cooling, it will probably tell you whether your oil is 391F or above, it's not top-heavy, and no batteries are required! works perfect for what it was made. for the price it should multifunction as multiple thermometers. I have used this Digital Thermometer to fry various fresh and frozen food items. After I select the display option, I like that this thermometer beeps every time the oil goes back up to the "set" temperature. This has to be the best candy thermometer made. The only complaint is that it would be nice if the readout wasn't quite so big so it would be easier to store. I was using it to monitor the temperature of fondant for making chocolate covered cherries. You have to dip the cherries into the melted fondant and the temp has to stay around 100 degrees. I don't know if it was because the temp was so low but the unit kept on shutting off after about 5 minutes of use and I had to keep turning it back on. When it was working I liked having the digital readout because those analog thermometers are so subjective. One look and you know the exact temperature. If you look at the analogs from the side it looks different than looking at it from the top or the other side. And of course, as my byline says, I do "love my gadgets" so I will keep it and see how it works with something else. Both candy-making and deep-frying require precision timing and heating. Take the guesswork out, along with the hovering by the stove routine, using this easy gizmo. Your end result will be better, and so will your temper. Equipped with 14 pre-programmed settings, this digital Maverick thermometer helps you achieve ideal results for both candy confections and fried treats. Plus, the simple operation means that you no longer have to stand by the stove and make estimates. In addition to helping get candy textures just right, the thermometer ensures that fried food cooks for the minimum time, so results are more crispy and less fatty.Sturdily built with a stainless-steel splatter/heat shield, the thermometer features a 10-1/2-inch pivoting probe and a large LCD monitor. Simple icons guide pre-set use, while a handy temperature guide on the back helps out with measurements. Readings can be displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, and when the ideal temperature is reached, the monitor beeps and flashes. The unit comes with a sturdy clip for the side of the pot and wipes up clean with a damp cloth. Maverick also includes automatic shut-off and a low-battery indicator. The unit runs on a AAA battery, which is included.--Emily Bedard Rerations < Maverick CT-03 Digital Oil&Candy Thermomter >

(Best Coffee Ever)
(Great way to avoid $4 coffee!) The Senseo Espresso Pods are good, we have the espresso pod holder for them and it seems to work well. I gonna give 4 instead of 5 stars because, I'd like it a little stronger. But I will certainly keep ordering them from Amazon, they have great deal with the subscription service and I can't find them locally. Wow! Truly "instant" espresso. It tasts like you find at coffee shops. Be sure to buy the special pod holder from Senseo to make this. I'm thrilled! On a vist to Europe last year I fell in love with D. E. "Extra Dark" coffee pods. Very sad to find that they are not available in the US. I chose "Espresso" as the next strongest blend....that is....until I found the new "Breakfast Blend". I am hoping that Amazon.com offers this blend and I am on my way to find out right now! Senseo is the best home made coffee ever, thank god I found this machine and these coffee pods absolutely the best cup of coffee you will ever have I have been using the senseo machine and pods for the last three years and wouldn't be without the machine or this particular coffee try it you will be amazed at the great taste These pods are excellent. They are great hot or cold. I did not purchase the special pod holder; I believe the regular single pod is just fine. (Black&Decker Spacemaker ODC440B)
(Black and Decker under the counter coffee maker)
(Difficult for my cabinet, had to fashion a special mounting plate.)
(coffetime) This is my second purchase of this spacemaker coffeemaker. The install was a little more complex than the earlier version but it still went very well. I have had Spacemaker coffeemakers for the last 12 years. I love the fact that this gives me extra counter space and has a timer, so my coffee is ready when I wake up. This model makes hotter coffee than my others and also keeps the coffee hotter, which I like. The main complaint I have with this model is it drips water on my counter top because the filter holder sweats. It automatically goes off after 2 hours and I like the automatic shut off feature, but I wish it would give you at least 4 hours until it shuts off. This coffeemaker is also slow brewing a pot of coffee. But I still love my Spacemaker despite these small complaints. We used it once and it would not work again. We returned the item, and received a prompt credit from seller. We decided not to re-order. Seller had good customer service, we just changed our mind. Lot more work than I thought it would be. I thought it was finally worth it, but after two months, the coffeemaker just stopped working. No power. It wasn't the outlet, I tried several different outlets. I'll keep it and take it apart for fun, see if it's a loose wire or something, of course I'm terrible at saving my receipts so I can't return it. I went out and bought another coffee maker, different brand. We had an older version (1 year old)of this unit which short circuited out when the pot overflowed. Decided to try the same one again&have noted some improvements, i.e. the ability to turn it off after you press the "on" button, the water carafe come apart for easy cleaning. Now, if it doesn't short circuit, we have a winner. Kitchen counter space seems to be shrinking? Black and Decker ODC440 under cabinet SpaceMaker will brew your coffee using less space. Free up valuable counter space with this 12-cup capacity coffeemaker from a name you trust. Unique "sneak-a-cup" feature allows you to interrupt brewing to pour your "cuppa' Joe." Also features a programmable digital clock, glass carafe, and a removable brew basket and water reservoir for easy cleaning. Automatically shuts off after 2 hours for safety and energy preservation Rerations < Black&Decker ODC440B Spacemaker Coffeemaker, Black >

(Easy on the hands wine opener)
(Wine Opener)
(Best Ever)
(back up electric corkscrew) This is very easy to use and doesn't chew up the cork as much as my old manual corkscrew. It looks nice on the countertop, though I don't think much of the glowing red light at the top, indicating it is charging; it makes me feel like it's using electricity unnecessarily to make that light glow 24/7. I think this would make a great gift for that person who has everything and loves gadgets. My husband has problems with regular wine bottle openers because he has arthritis in his fingers. I searched the web to see if there was any other type of opener that he could use without any hassles. The Oster 4207 and 4208 are fantastic. The Oster 4208 comes with a wine chiller that makes this a special gift to give to others. We have given three of these as gifts to people who found them to be excellent and fun to use. This product looks cool, but works OK. It's hard for me to yank the cork out after the spiral cuts thru the cork. I have to get my hubby to pull it out. The wine chiller works OK. It doesn't remain cool for too long. Amazing! It's hard to belive that a product so small could produce so much torque... it opens any wine bottle with ease. Attractive enouch to remain on bar or countertop. We have had one of these Oster wine openers for several years and have given several as gifts. They normally work very well, but this factory rebuild does not have nearly the torque as our old one and the switch only works if you hold it just right. We only got it as a back up because we can't believe the old one is still working. Luckly, the old one marches on. When gathering with friends, it's nice to be able to keep the wine flowing without having to retreat to the kitchen to chill and open more bottles. This convenient, portable wine set features a wine chiller and an electric bottle opener that can be kept close at hand, wherever the party ends up--in the living room, out on the back deck, or by the pool. The thermal stainless-steel wine chiller accommodates one bottle at a time, keeping it cold for hours, while the electric bottle opener effortlessly removes the cork in seconds. Offering cordless operation, the unit can open up to 30 bottles on a single charge--simply attach it to any traditional wine bottle, push the button, and it takes care of the rest. A recharging base comes included. Other highlights include a foil cutter for easily removing seals, a comfortable soft-grip handle, and a sleek modern design that will add a touch of sophistication to any party. The wine opener measures approximately 4 by 4 by 12 inches and the wine chiller measures approximately 5 by 5 by 9 inches; the set carries a one-year limited warranty. (WAKE UP CALL)
(Good Deal)
(CAUTION: Only for coffee!) Works just as intended. No complaints. If you're looking for a plain vanilla workhorse, this is for you. No fancy bells and whistles, just does what it is supposed to. The Urn is perfect size for my small home. Its perfect for dinner parties and get togethers. I take it to my church meetings and it makes the coffe fast and keeps it warm. Great product. GE\REAT COFFEE POT FINALLY MAKE ENOUGH FOR ME AND WIFE PLUS EASY TO USE West Bend 58030 12-30 Automatic Party Perk Got two of these for a small private school. We use one for hot water only, the other for coffee. They serve both teachers and parents on a daily basis. The 12-30 cups size is not too big, not too small - both of ours fit on a kitchen countertop underneath a standard height cupboard. I find the two-handed spout design is safer and harder to mess up than one-handed designs. I did a fair amount of research before I purchased these, and we wanted something good that would last. I was encouraged by the other positive reviews I found, and the fact that these are made in USA was a plus too. These are very sturdy, and I expect they will last for decades. On the downside, after about 4 hours, the coffee will start to taste burnt if left plugged in, and the plastic coffee strainer does let in a few more coffee grounds than a paper filter, but that's the nature of percolated coffee. Nothing is perfect, but so far these have lived up to our expectations. A good product that makes good reliable coffee at a good price. Get two! :-) Okay, this is a "coffeemaker," but it is titled an "automatic party perk" and we purchased it to heat water for hot chocolate. I have seen mulled cider and cocoa served from similar percolators many times, so I don't think we are the only ones who have planned to use the 58030 in this way.
Our method was to get the water hot, then stir in hot chocolate mix and serve. The cocoa was usually in the pot for less than 25 minutes at most, and we had made it a maximum of 8 times when, without warning, it overheated. There was the smell of burning plastic and even the cord began to get hot, so we unplugged it and found the bottom covered with blackened residue--this with many cups of water still inside!
In talking to the customer service rep--a very pleasant, very helpful young woman--we were led to page 5 of the manual where there was a statement saying "Other than making coffee or heating water, no other liquid should be heated in coffeemaker as damage to heating unit can occur." This danger was not noted in the three pages of heavily stressed warnings that started out the booklet, and there is no other reference on packaging, etc., to the need to avoid using these "party perks" for things like hot chocolate or even mulled cider.
Since this very nearly caused a fire, I believe that the comment should be moved up to the warning section and a statement should be added to the packaging to alert potential customers "This product is to be used only for coffee and hot water." Very disappointing--and scary--that a company as reputable as West Bend would be allowing such a potential hazard to be so little noted. Auto temperature control / Detachable cord / Twist-to-secure cover / 2-way dripless faucet / Heat-resistant handles / Cool-tip filter basket This polished aluminum coffeemaker brews coffee and then lets brunch guests or executives at a breakfast meeting serve themselves. The coffeemaker brews up to 30 cups of coffee and averages about one cup per minute in brewing time. For accurate filling, the urn has water level markings on its interior. The coffeemaker has a red serving light that illuminates when brewing is complete and the coffee is ready to pour. The two-way faucet pours easily and is dripless. An automatic temperature control keeps coffee warm as long as it is plugged into an outlet. For safety from burns, the filter basket has a cool tip and the handles, base, and lid are all heat-resistant. Additionally, the coffeemaker’s cover twists to lock, ensuring that accidental spilling will not occur. The coffeemaker comes with a detachable cord for easy storage. This appliance is covered by West Bend under a 1-year warranty.--Cristina Vaamonde Rerations < West Bend 58030 12-30 Automatic Party Perk >
