(Nice Knives, Excellent Deal)
(sub par knives)
(Great price, great knives)
(Average knives) These knives are really excellent! We have used old two knives which had to be sharpened weekly. However with purchasing of these knives, we are satisfied with it. The knives are safe and strong. The set is consist of various kinds of knives, in addition 6 knives (Total 13 knives). Thank you J. A. Henkels! Excellent knife set for the money. Like everyone else has said in their reviews these knives are very nice and do exactly what they are supposed to: cut. Great beginner set, or at least a first time set. We just got a house and need a set of knives that do the trick. Nice case with the J.A. Henckels logo.
Pros: They're knives, they cut, they dice, they clean well
Con: They're a hard plastic that are not entirely fancy, and I like fancy.
Conclusion: if you're looking for a inexpensive knife set that cuts well and looks decent this is a great buy; but if you're expecting a deluxe knife set that looks like it cost a lot of money take a look at a more expensive set. This set of knives would be ideal for a college student or new person on their first apartment. They are not really Henckel quality. Good value for anyone that is not a real cook. Real cooks should look elsewhere. I bought my knife set about a year ago. I still love these knives! Can't go wrong for the price. Plus, they are still very sharp. These knives were not the premium quality Henckels I'm used to. I returned them. Equip your kitchen with a set of knives from one of the most esteemed names in cutlery. Representing value, as well as a recognized brand name, these knives never need sharpening and are economically priced. As well as the basics for food prep, this set also contains six steak knives and a bounus fork-tipped tomato/cheese knife. The blades in this set of slim, lightweight knives are stamped in stainless steel, and their edges are microserrated and therefore touted as never needing sharpening. The handles are formed of tough polypropylene and are seamless, allowing for better hygiene. The set includes six kitchen knives, six 5-inch steak knives, and a rubber-footed wood block that has slots for them all. The kitchen knives include an 8-inch chef's knife with a curved blade for rocking through a chopping task; a 5-inch tomato knife with a narrow, curved blade; an 8-inch bread knife; a 6-inch utility knife; a 6-inch boning knife for meats, poultry, and fish; and a 2-1/2-inch paring knife for peeling and cleaning vegetables and fruits. As a bonus, a pronged-tip knife designed to slice cheese and spear the slices is included. While the knives are dishwasher-safe, they should be hand washed to preserve their edges. Unlike Henckels's premier knives, which are made in Germany, these knives are made in China; however, they do carry the company's lifetime warranty against defects.--Fred BrackWhat's in the Box 8-inch chef's, 5-inch tomato, 8-inch bread, 6-inch utility, 6-inch boning, 2-1/2-inch paring, six 5-inch steak knives, hardwood block Rerations < J.A. Breadman
customer 's review (Works allright, but grinding noise, no help from customer care)
(When it worked, it was great!)
(no longer on Atkin's)
(Awesome Bread Maker!)
(My first bread machine!) My brother gave me a Breadman for Christmas years ago. When it finally gave up the ghost after years of intensive use, I decided to replace with another Breadman. What a mistake!
It worked allright for about the first 3-4 uses, after which I decided to send in my registration info (I always like to make sure I'm going to keep the product first).
Shortly after that, I began hearing a dreadful grinding noise on the knead cycle! Many emails and calls back and forth to "customer care" have resolved nothing. There is no service center in my area, the date code on the machine renders it out of warranty, I can't find the original receipt, and they won't tell me, from my registration info, where I bought it (which would help me locate the receipt).
Yeah, maybe my filing system sucks, but I would at least expect a more courteous response than, "We can't locate your registration info, but you can buy the latest model for $140."
Will definitely be looking for a different model next time! I bought this bread machine on May 15, 2009 online here at Amazon.com. I went with the free shipping so I received it about 10 days later. The product arrived with a 1.5 inch scratch on the front of the unit, but it didn't affect the function of the unit so I was passive about paying full price for a damaged unit. It didn't seem worth the hassle.
I used the bread machine about weekly and made bread and dough for pizza and cinnamon rolls. It worked nicely, but I found it difficult to neatly cut the bread in the loaf pan included in the bread machine so I switched to using it to prepare the dough and then I would take it out and allow it to rise the final time in a loaf pan and then I cooked it in the oven. The size of a regular loaf pan is much easier to cut nicely.
Unfortunately this past weekend (June 27) this bread machine stopped working. I tried different outlets and giving it time to recoup between trying to use it. Amazon.com reported it was past the time of my return window (it ended June 22) so I was stuck dealing with the company on the bread machine.
I called Breadman (ACP) today and they don't have this model, but have a similar model on BACKORDER that I they will send me. What I have to do is write a letter and include the cord from the bread machine. They said to cut it right off. Then I need to ship through a "trackable" method. When asked to define what trackable meant and what they wanted me to do with it, they said that confirmation of delivery was fine. They do not send you a no postage paid address slip. I have to be inconvenienced and pay for shipping. And wait for a product that is similar to the one I purchased that is on BACKORDER. Then they told me I had to pay for the shipping of the new product coming to me..... after explaining how unfair this was (and in my head knowing it will take forever for them to process the cord and letter I send them and put my name on the back order list and finally send me a replacement) they finally gave in and waived the shipping charges for the new product.
Happy when it worked, even though it came with a scratch. Very unhappy with the process that ensues when it stopped working. This came in the mail and I forgot that I bought it. I was dedicated deciple of the Atkin's meat fetish. Bread can be used for so many dishes that I didn't know of. It even makes croutons if you cut up the bread and bake the little pieces in your conventional oven. I wake up every morning to the pleasant sounds of my husband pouring all of the ingredients in. Now I know what they were talking about when they said "Loaves and Fishes" except i don't like adding fish to the dough. LOL. anyway... this IS an exceptional bread machine; and I'm grateful that I bought it. I bought the Breadman TR875 back in December of 2008 and one word describes this device: Wow! I have made most of the recipes in the manual and a lot from recipes I found online. All have been great. There have been a couple that have not risen properly but those were store bought bread machine brands. I have mostly made the 1.5 lb sizes as sometimes the 2 lb loaves rise too high and touch the viewing window. Also 2 lb is a lot of bread and bread machine loaves are best eaten within 1 - 2 days. Sometimes the paddle comes off and is stuck inside the completed baked bread but usually it stays on. It's all in how you shake the bread out when it's done I think. The outside of the Breadman is not hot at all so it can go against backsplashes. One thing I did not know was to separate the salt and suger that is added to the breadpan. None of the recipes in the manual mention this so be sure to add the liquids first, then the flour, and THEN the salt and suger (if needed) to opposite sides of the breadpan. All in all, this is a great device and I can honestly say I have not bought ANY store bread brands since I have had this. I did an Excel spreadsheet listing the bread I would have bought from November to June and offset the flour and bread supplies that I bought, I saved over $200 in that eight month period. I read a lot of reviews before I purchased my first bread machine. I wanted one that was the most expensive, but also wasn't the cheapest. I am very satisfied with my machine. I read some reviews that it slide around on the counter. I have seen that just a little bit, but I do put a placemat underneath it everytime I bake.
The only thing I have found that the 1 1/2 lb. loaves bake better than the 2 lb. loaves. It seems everytime I do a 2 lb. loaf it isn't cooked all the way through. But that doesn't matter to me, because I usually only need the 1 1/2 lb. loaf anyway.
I have been baking tons since I got it and my office loves me for brining in fresh bread all the time.
Lastly, I bought the book "The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook" which is amazing. It is a must have!!!!
Breadman’s 2-pound breadmaker bakes 1, 1-1/2, and 2-pound horizontal loaves, has an easy-to-read LCD display, a viewing window, and multiple cycles, including super-rapid, 100-percent whole wheat, gluten-free, and more. It has a helpful "add in" beep, a pause function, a detachable lid, and is hand wash only. It measures 18 by 11-1/5 by 14-4/5 and has a 1-year warranty. (WTF)
(regular mouth jar sealer)
(Great helpful product!)
(FoodSaver Regualr Mouth Jar Sealer) Seals regular Mason jars correctly over 90% of the time. I use 2 lids, then remove the top one (which will be loose) after sealing. In the rare case when the jar does not seal the first time, you can tell immediately because the lid will not have "popped in." Mostly, this is the result of not having the first lid properly positioned, or because the soft gasket material on the lid is dried out. A light film of water will fix the latter problem.
I like the metal lids because you can confirm at any time that your jar is still sealed, simply by pressing down on the lid to make sure it has not popped up.
This jar sealer, along with regular Mason jars, is a much better system than the special Foodsaver canisters.
You need to be aware that this jar sealer attachment does not include the hose you'll need (at lease mine did not).
I would definitely buy this item again. I have owned a Food Saver jar sealer for wide mouth jars for many years. It works like a champ every time. This one works less than 10% of the time. I've been very excited about using my foodsaver, but it only came with the wide-mouth jar sealer. I ordered this regular mouth sealer online, and received it quickly. It has only two ridges under the lid to keep the jar lid on during sealing (the wide-mouth sealer has five). This causes rocking, and failure a lot of the time. I debated whether to return it or not, but opted to solve my own problem by inserting a paper clip as a third and fourth ridge under the sealer (between the sealer and the jar lid. Works fine! And it's not worth a return if you can do something this simple to fix the problem. Thanks, Linda Schank Makes sealing jars so easy! I should have bought it years ago!! Use regular canning jars and lids and seal away! Keeps things very fresh! This product worked for me as explained in the instructions. It has been nice to buy some things in bulk and be able to save them sealed in my mason jars. I am looking forward to growing, drying, and sealing herbs this fall. FoodSaver Regular jar sealer allows vacuum packaging in Ball or Kerr Mason jars. Ideal for liquids and fragile foods, or for storage of dry goods such as brown sugar, spices, dried fruit, coconut and flour For those who cook large quantities of food for storage, FoodSaver vacuum packaging systems offer excellent protection against food spoilage and freezer burn. This jar sealer attachment fits on pint- and quart-sized Mason jars and is for use with any FoodSaver machine that has an accessory port. The lid forms a tight seal on Mason jars while tubing (sold separately) inserts through the top and removes air from the jar with the help of a FoodSaver machine. The jar sealer works equally as well in packaging liquid foods, such as jams, sauces, or mustard, as it does for dry goods, such as brown sugar or spices. The sealer can even re-seal the same container multiple times (in case someone keeps dipping into the stored jars of raspberry jam). Vacuum packaging with this lid can keep food fresh three to five times longer than keeping it in a plastic food storage container in the refrigerator; however, it is a different process from canning and should not be confused with traditional canning methods.--Cristina Vaamonde Rerations < FoodSaver T03-0006-01 Regular Mouth Jar Sealer >

(Great product.)
(Simply The Best...)
(This oven gets too hot on the outside)
(Everything I'd hoped it would be!) Worth every penny. I use it almost every day. We are empty nesters and it's nice not to turn on the large wall oven. Sleek design and great features. Heats up quickly. I have several Breville appliances and they all come highly recommended. I love it. Suzanne Sanger, CA I have been through two other brands of countertop ovens in the past two months, and so far so good with Breville, The other two were microwave convection broiler/bake ovens. One was by JennAir and the other by Sanyo. Both were defective out of the box. The JennAir made a scraping noise so I replaced it. The replacement did the same thing. The Sanyo would only heat up to 200 degrees after 40 minutes. I decided to keep my old microwave and to get this oven based on reviews. I love the size and the streamlined look, and it works great for baking and toasting. I have made halibut, shrimp, toast and bagels, reheated and all have been perfect. I love the knobs because they lightly click in increments of degrees, or for the number of pieces of toast and from light to dark, etc. I know that it was not cheap, but honestly, the Jennair that I returned twice was $550.00 and the Sanyo was $150.00, and I had such a hassle with both of them, I just wanted piece of mind. I got this one on a promotion from Amazon at $249.00 complete out the door ( free shipping, no tax), and it is worth every penny because it does what it says, and I don't cringe every time I try to cook something. It comes with pans that fit nicely, and by the way, I did line the pan with foil under the fish, and had no problems at all. I was using bake one time and convection bake another, so I am not sure about trying it with broil. The screen is well lit and organized, and goes to energy saver mode after a few minutes. it lights up again right away if you turn any knob. It is larger than my old toaster oven, but it needs to be to cook all of the things that it is capable of. It is not huge, but to give you an idea of the size, it can fit six pieces of toast on one rack. By the way, they don't recommend cooking meat over about 4 pounds at a time. I want to thank everybody who have posted other reviews. Because of you, I knew exactly what to expect, and even though nothing bothers me about this oven, I knew what everybody else had to say about it, so there were no surprises. I bought this for my wife as a replacement for a cuisinart that we liked but used to death. We have a large family and use these alot. This is a FANTASTIC unit and we all love it. Even cooking, Smart looks, Roomy, Great build quality. I thought I would love this oven, but I didn't and I returned it. The major problem is that it gets very hot all over the outside of it. It is very unsafe in my opinion to have if you have kids. I did a ton of research before purchasing the Breville Smart Oven and was hesitant to purchase it because of the high price tag. However, we are a family that uses toaster ovens daily and wanted to get the best of the best. I think we found it! First of all it looks great! I agree with other reviews that said the buttons could be a bit more substantial feeling...but, they work great and maybe design-wise, there is a reason the buttons aren't heavier feeling. Also, I think an interior light would be wonderful. Aside from that, however, I have to say that this thing has amazed me so far. I have made pizza, toast, bagels, casserols, baked potatoes and more with it and everything has come out great. It is very user friendly and has many functions. I hadn't realized how inferior my old toaster oven was until now. I'm really glad it finally died, or I would never had invested in the Breville and I would never had known what a properly toasted bagel or a perfectly cooked pizza was like coming from a toaster oven. I love the convection feature...it is quiet and cuts down on cooking time for many items. I love the easy to clean front crumb tray too. Oh yeah, there was one thing that bothered me and it's outer area around the window on both the inside and outside. Crumbs and such tend to get stuck in the little ridge where the glass goes into the metal and I worry that over time, that may build up and get ugly. I think if there was some kind of seal that could make that area smoother, that would be great...but again, maybe there is a reason why that can't be. Not a big deal, but thought I'd mention it. Over all, I am thrilled with my new toaster oven and I look forward to many years of use. If you are on the fence about buying this item, I say to go for it, I dont think you'll be dissapointed and it is an investment that is worth while. You will find yourself using it more than your oven and saving on time&energy! The Smart Oven's Element IQ puts the power where it's needed most. For each of the 9 pre-set programs, Element IQ delivers the right power at the right time and when adjusted to taste, it even remembers. Element IQ works much like the dimmer in your light switch-it can turn the power up or down. Instead of the 5 heating elements having a fixed wattage, Element IQ automatically puts the power where it is needed most for the specific cooking task. Not only does the Smart Oven heat up faster than a conventional wall oven, it's also more energy efficient than its predecessor, making it a kitchen tool you will use every day. (great canning tool, keeps fingers cool)
(Good item)
(Back to Basics 174 Magnetic Lid Lifter) The magnetic lifter works great. When we are canning this magnetic lifter is very good and easy to use. I love using it. I couldn't find these anywhere in the stores in summer 2008, so I ordered the lid lifter and jar lifter here and both work great. Makes life much easier when canning--no more unsteady tongs or using my silicone oven mitt to plunge my hand into boiling water. This little gadget allows you to magnetically pick up the lids from the hot simmering water for your canning jars. Saves burned finger tips, and proves much more sanitary than other methods. Had hoped for a bit more umph in the magnet, but I suppose then it would pick up two lids? I would highly recommend, and now wouldn't be without it! but magnet could be stronger. If you are just lifting the lids as is it works great but I heat mine in a water bath as is recommended and then they don't grip/hold onto the lids as well. I felt like this was a great idea, just needed a stronger magnet to warrant 5 stars. This tool is very handy for retrieving lids and rings from hot water. No more burned fingers. JERS

(FoodSaver Continuous Roll Bag Material, 8-Inch by 22-Foot) These are bags used with the FoodSaver. They work. Not much else to say. This is a great product to save money from wasted food by increasing the storage life of the product. Thanks very good quality product, find it a little pricey for the amount on the roll. I'm glad I didn't need them in a hurry, It took about 14 days to receive the item.

I will buy from different seller next time (wal mart maybe) Excellent quality. They do what they are supposed to do. They keep food from spoiling, they seal and the 22 foot rolls last a good long time. The whole idea of buying large quantities and storing it in these bags saves my family a lot of cash. 8" x 22'. FoodSaver Rolls have all the same great features as FoodSaver Bags, plus one rolls allow you to make custom-size bags so you can always have just the right size bag on hand. Most FoodSaver users like to keep both bags and rolls handy for the greatest packaging convenience and flexibility. Designed to be used with all Tilia FoodSaver vacuum-packaging machines, the two rolls of material in this package can be cut and sealed at both ends to create custom-size food-storage bags. Each roll is 8 inches wide and 22 feet long. The material is a three-layer construction--two plastic layers and an outer layer of nylon--that keeps moist foods moist, dry foods dry, and all foods from leaking odor. Bags can go directly into a microwave oven or boiling water to reheat food. They are resealable, reusable, and dishwasher-safe.--Fred Brack Rerations < FoodSaver Continuous Roll Bag Material, 8-Inch by 22-Foot (2 Rolls) >

(kitchenaid wire whip attachment)
(Great Service) This whisk fit my 20 year old KitchenAid just fine and seems just as sturdy as the original whisk...now if I just quit using my whisk for everything because I can't find the paddle beater, I am sure it will last as long as the original one too! This wire whip is a disappointment because it's not made out of stainless steel, as was the original. It's some form of aluminum which gets pocked when it soaks in dishwater. This happened the first time I handwashed it! Don't dare put it in the dishwasher. The whip was as listed, priced very competively and delivered very quickly. I am completely satisfied with all aspects of my puchase. Thank you. This gift item was returned as we ultimately ended up purchasing a Kitchenaid model that came with the attachment. (Great sturdy mats)
(what I was looking for)
(Repeat buyer!)
(disappointed) This is my 2nd set. I bought the 1st set at Lowes over 1 1/2 yrs ago. The 1st set held up so well I bought a 2nd set from Amazon as a back up. I used a suction cup hook (available anywhere for about $1 each) and mounted one to the side of my refrigerator and hung all the mats on one hook. This keeps them very handy and out of the way. I have an expensive hardwood cutting board but no longer use it since it's bulky, hard to clean and needs maintenance (properly clean and coat with vegetable oil for next use). When I'm done using the mats I just throw them in the dishwasher. Perfect!!! These bright coloured mats are perfect. Love the weight and thickness of them and the colours help me find them on a granite counter top where the clear ones tend to disappear. Having the meat, fish, veggie icons on them helps keep the mats separate for different purposes. They clean up quickly and thoroughly and don't cut easily.
Great value and I will buy again when these get chopped up. I really like these mats. I had been looking for color coded cutting boards to separate my chopping when I found these mats. I like that I don't have to wash my cutting board in between cutting meat and veggies for the same meal. That is a great convenience. The pictures on the mat are an added bonus - I'm never going to forget what color is for what. I also like clean-up - I just toss them into the dishwasher. The only reason I gave it a 4 star rather than 5 is that my green one curls. Maybe because I put it in the dishwasher. It is still usable, I just wish it didn't curl. I haven't had the same problem with the other colors, but I also don't use them as often. This is my 2nd set of these, having had the first set for several years&liking them so much. Nice wooden cutting boards are beautiful..but these are the most convenient and quick to use&clean. This is all I use-every day, multiple times...the heavier boards are unused. I keep these vertical under the kitchen sink with my cookie sheets, etc, where they are convenient to get out&put away. It's also nice that they take no space stored along side the cookie sheets. The only disadvantage is that they aren't as pretty as a nice bamboo board (which gets used to display a nice fresh loaf of bread), but the convenience of them and the ease of quickly pulling one out, cleaning it, and putting away far outweighs this disadvantage in my view.
these mats bend way too much and don't stay flat while i'm cutting. so anything i'm chopping starts to spill off the mat. further, the mats were sent in the packaging bent. not worth sending back. customer 's review (poor performance blender)
(Great performance for slushy drinks. Great warranty...)
(Great Blender)
(HB Blender)
(Serious Blender Testing) I bought this blender based on others comments that it blends quickly and efficiently. I was highly disappointed when I began using the blender. Aside from the very loud noise it produces, the blender does not blend any better than any other blender - and worse than my 20+ year old blender. It states it blends for smoothies quickly, this is not true. I made pancakes today with oats, ricotta cheese, egg, applesauce and pumpkin puree and it did not want to blend---at all. I spent five minutes trying to have it blend, stirring, readjusting the contents, and pushing the buttons over and over again. I wish I had never bought this blender. It does no better than a blender that retails for $20. It really doesn't work in 10 seconds, more like 10 minutes. The build is definitely light compared the old classic blender it replaced. The cord is only 2 feet long, so if you want to use it anywhere an outlet isn't available at counter height you'll need an extension.
BUT, the performance won me over. It quickly makes frozen slushy drinks thick as you please with a perfect fine, slushy texture, no larger ice bits at all. There's also a 3-year warranty. Much longer than common these days... Makes me think this product was built with at least some consideration to a reasonable service life.
It seemed to struggle with making a simple milkshake though (it was difficult to get the ice cream scoops to mix with everything else). I think the included "Ice Saber" blade may be great for handling ice better than any blender ever could in the past, but it may not be so great for more traditional blender tasks. I see there are replacement blades for sale with a design that looks more traditional. I'm going to pick one up.
I've noticed there are different blades for sale for the Oster blenders too (ice, standard, milkshake) and those are also coming with only the new ice blade included. So, this issue isn't limited to Hamilton Beach. I've also noticed the reviews for most Hamilton Beach and Oster blenders seem to be excellent from people who are mainly making drinks thickened with ice... where some people using the blender for more traditional tasks seem disappointed with the performance compared to their old blender. I'm betting this is due to the blenders coming with only the new ice blades included. Buying a standard blade for other tasks would probably solve any problems. There certainly is no shortage of power with this blender.
Super-easy and super-delicious frozen margarita recipe...
Frozen Margaritas
Ingredients:
6 ounces of frozen limeade concentrate. A 6 oz can or½ of a 12 oz can. 2/3 cup Tequila, preferably silver (clear) 1/3 cup triple sec Around 5 cups of ice cubes A couple limes for garnish slices and salting the glass rims if desired Margarita salt for the glass rims if desired POWERFUL blender
To make:
Blend 2/3 cup tequila, 1/3 cup triple sec and 6 oz limeade concentrate in blender.
Add ice cubes to fill a 5-cup blender jar
Blend at high, "icy drink" speed until slushy. Add a little more ice if not thick enough. You can store unused portions in the freezer for awhile. You may have to stir with a spoon and scoop it into glasses to serve. It will melt and be more easily drinkable pretty quickly.
Use a lime wedge to wet the rims of glasses and dip the rims into a plate of margarita salt before filling if desired. Serve with a lime slice garnish.
This is the best frozen margarita recipe I've tried (and I've tried a few)... and conveniently, the simplest as well! Great blender. Powerful and very attractive. I keep it out on my kitchen counter. I wanted something that would crush ice for nutrition drinks and this does the job. I love the size and the shape. As far as blenders go, this is very compact. I'm happy with it. I just wish it chopped the ice a little more quickly.... Due to the recent end of a long term relationship I was put in the position of needing multiple appliances, and furniture, and TV, etc. I was cruising through Amazon looking for just the right items to start my life over. Items that would look at me from the computer screen and say "Hey, I want to be a part of your life." or maybe "Pick me. I will love you and never leave you and take all your stuff with me." Anyway, that is a subject for my therapist, not here. I came across this blender and it spoke to me. Maybe not the statements above.. It was more like "Choose me, I won't let you down, I will grind up everything you insert in me." The blender called out to me like a bottle of Jack Daniels calls out to an alcoholic. I had to make this blender a part of my new family. I ordered immediately.
Being new to the whole single bachelor life I am not what you would call a culinary artist. Item 1 - a simple shake. Ice cream, milk, banana. No problem. Blender handled it like a champ. My mind began to race. Maybe I can blend all my meals. Oh yeah. This whole kitchen / cooking thing would be a snap if I could pull that off. Item 2 - peanut butter, bread, jelly. For liquid I went with milk again. Disappointment would be an understatement. I would rather clean an ashtray with my tongue than drink that crap again. The blender, however, chewed up this combo quite easily. Stomach still quivering, I forged on to the next combo. Who doesn't like hot dogs? A staple in every single man's life right? Item 3 - Hot dog, bun, ketchup, mustard, relish. Went with water for liquid this time. Milk and hot dogs did not sound enticing. The blender did great. It plowed through that mystery meat with little difficulty. The taste you wonder? Do I need to answer that? I may have done some permanent damage to my digestive tract. I will french kiss a 10 dollar hooker before drinking that again. After 2 days to clear my colon and make the nightmares stop, I decided to try one last time. I stared in the fridge long and hard. There it was... right in front of me the whole time. One of my favorite meals. Cold pizza and beer. Why had I not thought of this before? I must admit, the blender struggled with the cold pizza. It just wasn't soaking up the beer as well as I thought it would. The beer foamed up and threatened to spill out. Had to hold the lid down tight. I will not hold you in suspense on this "can't miss" item. I think falling down the hole of an outhouse would have been better than putting this concoction in my pie hole. I learned something also... You CAN continue to throw up long after you think your stomach is empty and you are done.
I believe that I will give the blender a break for a while... and my stomach... and my colon. If my ex-girlfriend is reading this, laugh it up. You will soon be making new friends... I wrote your phone number on the wall at the truck stop. This Classic Chrome blender from Hamilton Beach features the revolutionary Wave-Action system. The 48-ounce jar is dishwasher-safe. (IT DOES THE JOB)
(Does just what it should)
(Love the pull-start!)
(Salad Spinner) At first I liked this (cute color), but I've had it for over 2 years and I find that I haven't used it the past 6 months. It doesn't lock in place, takes up alot of space in the fridge and you have to pull a string to make it spin. I've replaced it already with an OXO salad spinner which I love so much more than this one and giving my little sister the Zyliss salad spinner. This is my second purchase of this item and I am totally happy with how it performs. On my first unit, I was a bit too enthusiastic in pulling the cord and broke the handle: thus the replacement. This spinner does a much better job than other types with a level or the push-down piston. The basket spins much faster and removes more moisture from the lettuce making for a crisper salad. I would highly recommend this as the salad spinner to buy if you're looking for quality and performance. Pre-bagged lettuce, although infinitely easy to use, is actually just terrible for the environment. After I read exactly how much carbon energy is used for a bag of greens, which tends to cost about $3.99, I decided they would only be for special occasions.
While I love to cook, I HATE washing lettuce. I can never get it clean enough, and if I do I can never get it dry enough... watery salads are gross, a dish rack is not an appropriate place to dry lettuce, and I like getting my vegetables.
This salad spinner does exactly what it should, and my only problem is that occasionally the spinning part, which is affixed to the lid, doesn't connect with the basket that does the spinning. 95% of the time, however, this is a great kitchen tool. I keep it out on the counter, I use it so much. And I don't buy bagged lettuce or dangle greens from the dish rack anymore. So far I really love this product. I've been using this to spin-dry lettuce for about a month now, and so far so good. I have to say that I really hated drying salad greens more than I can say (using towels and such). So, it is nice that this can take about one head of green or red leaf lettuce. I love the lawnmower style pull start and the handy stop button. My 2 year old loves watching it spin. Also, the green insert makes a reasonable collander for straining things, and the whole clear, plastic bowl, while kind of large, can be used to store a big salad in the refrigerator. Nothing broken or untowards yet with the spinner. Been using it for a couple months, works well for what it was designed for. Probably need a years worth of usage to give it a better review. But so far it looks good. It's one pull to gourmet salad that's as easy as 1-2-3.
