(Perfect rice!)
(Cooks rice fine, but NO power button!!)
(One of my best purchases)
(Good Basic Rice Cooker) My brother and I originally hail from Louisiana and white rice was always a large part of our diet. If you visit that state and go to the supermarket, you will often see 50-pound bags of rice on the aisle shelves. I bought this 6-cup rice cooker two years ago as a convenience while preparing other parts of the meal. Alton Brown hates these cookers, because (aside from a little steamed vegetable tray) they don't 'multi-task'. Well I 'multi-task' while the rice is cooking, and I find the separate cooker frees up two extra stove burners because of the size of the old stove-pot. Besides, Alton grew up in L.A. and Georgia, not Louisiana - "On fait ce qu'on peut avec ce qu'on a..." as they say. Anyhow, I've been very pleased with the Zoji AND my rice.
Now let's face it, an electric rice cooker is going to be used most frequently by rice-loving cultures who have DAILY need of it. Outside of Northern California and Louisiana, this isn't generally true for the U.S. of A. So I'm not going to buy any U.S.-brand rice cooker designed by some guy in upstate New York (even if it is more or less copied from a foreign model and built in China), but one designed by people who use the thing every day. At present, that means getting a Japanese-brand machine made by a major player in the market.
Unlike some other rice cookers out there, my Zojirushi was made in a factory in Thailand, not China. Some Japanese companies who desire tighter quality control in some of their better products pay a little more in labor costs than they would in the Great Workers Paradise to have their appliances assembled in Malaysia or Thailand. In the case of my Zoji, I found no fit or finish problems. The nonstick finish on the rice container was applied flawlessly and has not flaked off.
These lid-type rice cookers use no computer brain but a simple electromechanical mechanism to turn the cooker off; and mine has worked without fault for over two years. I decided against the more expensive variant with the locking lid and electronic computer circuits, and after two years am darn glad I didn't. A rice cooker is about the most humid microenvironment imaginable for electronics, and (perhaps coincidentally, but I doubt it) I notice that other reviewers for the computer-controlled rice cookers are now reporting several failures after several months of use.
Having cooked white rice of varying styles (long-grain, medium-grain, short-grain) and provenance (USA, Japan, Thailand, India, etc.) for some time in a stove pan I knew enough to wash/soak the rice before placing it into the cooker to remove some of the starch and prevent boilover. I also always follow the water amount instructions on the bag of rice I'm using at the time, never what's advised in the cooker instructions (Zojirushi has no way of knowing what style of rice you're cooking). As a result I never experience splattering or boilover and I don't have to constantly monitor the rice cooker. I cook rice in the cooker alone, and with steamed vegetables in the provided tray. To add taste, I often add a bit of bouillon or broth to partially replace the total water amount. If you are getting browning rice at the bottom of the cooker or too-soft rice that mashes together, it's cooking too long: try reducing the amount of liquid just a tiny bit at a time. And though the rice pot is nonstick, I add a dab of oil to help things along.
Oh, by the way, my rice-loving brother visited me last year. When he saw my trusty Zoji-san in action he immediately ordered the 10-cup version for his larger family; it too has worked flawlessly.
I had never owned a rice cooker before I bought the Zo. I absolutely love it. It does not take up much counter space and is great for 2-3 people. The first time I used it, I only made a cup of rice to see how it would turn out. I used the measurements I always use to cook rice on the stove: 1 cup of rice 1 and 3/4 cup water. After the rice was done, I opened the lid and thought it was going to be soggy rice. Not so! While it was on the warming cycle, I stirred it and put the lid back on. After 5 minutes, I checked it and it was terrific! I think it is very important to stir the rice after it is done and in the warming cycle. I am so happy with this rice maker. I was torn between this one and the 10-cup model, but am happy I got this size. It makes plenty of rice for my needs. Oh, and I had no trouble with the rice spraying gunk out of the hole in the top. I did rinse the rice before I put it in the cooker, though. Love it! I bought this as a replacement to my old Hitachi rice cooker. The NHS-10 does a fine job at cooking rice. I've had soft, sticky rice with no burning issues since using this rice cooker. I do have 1 big issue with it though. THERE IS NO POWER BUTTON? Why on earth would any appliance maker make anything without a power button? I find it quite annoying to have to plug and unplug this thing each time I want to use it.
It's my fault for not looking for a power button prior to purchasing, but come on, it's 2009 and they couldn't add it in (especially for it's price???).
If I had to do it all over again, I would not buy this product specifically for that reason. No quality issues, just a serious design flaw. I LOVE rice. This is one of my best purchases ever. I cooks rice as good as or better than I can. I have owned this rice cooker for more than two months and I am VERY impressed! It just does its thing and the rice is better than I could make it on the stovetop.
There is only one thing to be aware of... to avoid the ricey steam deposits from the steam hole in the lid you should cover the top with a paper towel. Otherwise you will have a ricey layer on any nearby surface.
I don't see any manufacturing solution to this...steam has to escape somehow.
Overall this is a great appliance. Easy to use and to clean. I have been using rice cookers for over 20 years now, and owned more than 10 rice cookers. I have been using this one for over 4 months, and use it every other day. Now, I can say, this rice cooker is a good basic one, makes good rice, and meantime, inexpensive.
The only complain I have with it is it is kind of small when you use the tray. Also, if you want to make congee, this rice cooker is way too small.
Next time, I would buy a 10 cup one. Plump, tender and moist grains of rice, with the option of colorful steamed veggies, can be yours with this cooker/steamer. No need to worry about rice drying out and sticking to the sauce pan either, as the "keep warm" function will maintain ideal temperature and consistency until you're ready to serve. Use the steamer basket for chicken, seafood, or vegetables - healthy cooking was never this easy! From carrots to cauliflower, cabbage to eggs, and rice to potatoes, this 6-cup cooker/steamer and warmer from Zojirushi steams foods to perfection and keeps them warm. The set includes a removable steaming tray, nonstick cooking pan, measuring cup, and spatula--the removable parts make this steamer easy to clean, and a removable cord makes it easy to store. Watch the foods while they cook through the clear glass lid or watch the cooking switch that pops up when the food is ready. There's also an automatic keep-warm system activated immediately after rice is cooked, and durable stay-cool handles make for safe handling. This attractive rice cooker measures 9-1/4 by 9-1/4 by 9-1/4 inches.--David Drury Rerations < Zojirushi NHS-10 6-Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer&Warmer, White >

(Love this teapot!)
(WORKS WELL, SERVES ITS PURPOSE)
(High Quality, Very Happy with Kettle)
(disappointing) this product's quality is very bad...it broke when i used it at first time! the whistle jump out!!very bad! This teapot is great. It is the perfect size, and it has a pleasant --- rather than shrill --- whistle. I got it to replace an old model stainless Farberware whistling teapot that I loved for 18 years. What's more, this new teapot matches the new fixtures in my kitchen. As has been stated in other reviews, the functional design of the base allows the teapot to be efficient in boiling water, and the design of the handle eliminates the need for a pot holder. I drink a lot of tea&shopped quite a long time before buying. This one really fits the bill. It's well built, not thin or flimsy and it heats quickly. I really like its large size. I usually fill it about 3/4 full and find that the water stays hot in the kettle for a long time ... no reheating for that 2nd cup 30 minutes later. It's sturdy&the handle is quite ergonomically functional.. sits high which gives the pot good balance when pouring. Like many others, I like the whistle, pleasant&loud enough to hear but not so shrill that you jump out of your skin and race to turn it off. I do love the flip-up spout, easy to use but I must say that closing the spout is a bit awkward but that's minor to me. It has so many positive things, this is definitely a keeper. Farberware always makes good quality products&this is another one. I love tea and wanted a kettle that was sturdy. I am very happy with my kettle and have faith it will last for years to come. This is very disappointing product.
1. the whistling part was broken in a day! 2. the handle is just fixed and can't be moved. So uneasy to use and clean.
Prepare teas and soups quickly and easily while accessorizing your kitchen with this 2.5-qt. Tiburon Whistling Teakettle from the Classic Series collection. Made with Farberware's superior construction and timeless 18/10 stainless steel it's sure to complement your kitchen and be a staple in your kitchen for years to come. Limited lifetime guarantee. No stovetop is complete without a charming teakettle, and this Farberware Classic Tiburon makes a handsome as well as useful fixture. Created from corrosion-resistant, high-quality stainless steel, the kettle features an attractive bell shape with a flared bottom for efficient burner coverage and faster heating. It whistles clearly when water boils, and the lever-controlled spout locks open with a simple flip for easy pouring and filling. The kettle also fills through the tidy top lid. Farberware uses a stay-cool synthetic to make the piece’s handles, arcing the top one high for finger clearance. One design element to note here--lifting and spout-flipping are possible to perform with one hand (flip down the lever with your thumb and pick up the pot) though not as simple as the trigger-style spouts on some kettles. Polished to a mirror-finish, this kettle keeps its shine with a little bit of standard maintenance. Measuring 8-1/2 inches in diameter, it stands 9 inches high.--Emily Bedard Rerations < Farberware Classic Tiburon 2-1/2-Quart Whistling Stainless-Steel Teakettle >

(Great Ice Crusher)
(A great little machine!)
(Life is Good)
(I LOVE MY NEW ICE CRUSHER!!!!) I bought this ice crusher after purchasing an "ice crushing" blender that rated very highly on Amazon. The blender was a big disappointment - both for extreme noise and inability to really crush ice and blend. I decided that it would be better and easier to crush the ice and add it to the ingredients in my old, cheap blender. I am very happy with my decision. Now I just need an occasion that warrants a blender as a gift! This crusher does a fast, clean job and makes a fraction of the noise my new blender did. If you can, just get an ice crusher and keep your old blender. If you love crushed ice but don't have a refrigerator with a built-in dispenser, this is a great option. It is a little on the large size, especially height-wise, so make sure you have ample room for it (it feeds from the top). Lots of capacity and power. Very pleased with this purchase. My wife loves this machine! A new refrigerator replaced our old ridiculous side-by-side model, where the ice crusher was it's only good feature. It does a great job, quiet, doesn't jam, is well built, simple to use, and should last for years. It would be nice if it had adjustable settings, but for standard crushed ice it does a great job. Unfortunately, at 15-1/2" high, it is 1/2" too high to fit int the space between our upper wall cabinets and the base cabinets on our countertop, hence only 4 stars. I just crushed ice with this powerful ice crusher and love it! It did the job well. Don't expect ice fit for a slushy or snow cone. You will not find that with this machine. Do expect excellent broken ice for all your drink needs. This machine is made well and is professional grade. You will not be disappointed with it. I can not wait to use this machine to crush ice for my sweet tea. YUM! June 4,2009 Waring Pro IC70 Professional Stainless-Steel Large-Capacity Ice Crusher I have always wanted a ice crusher, So I waited till I found the one I wanted&I found it here on AMAZON as soon as the UPS guy droped it off, I started crushing ice to see how well it worked. It makes NO sound at all while it is crushing the ice... I LOVE IT! It was worth waiting years for it, If your in the market for a ice crusher this one is GREAT!!! I was shocked to see in crushes up to 12 cups of ice at one time. GREAT BUY&WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!
The Waring Pro Professional Ice Crusher has a brushed stainiless steel housing, large and convenient ice chute, stainless steel blades and commercial mechanism. It crushes 30 lbs of ice per hour and the container holds up to 12 cups of crushed ice. Rerations < Waring Pro IC70 Professional Stainless-Steel Large-Capacity Ice Crusher >

(love it.)
(Great gift)
(Very good product)
(Product looks good - BUT) I like to drink a glass of red wine everyday. I open a new bottle first day and close it with the pump. I also use Vinturi Wine Aerator to pour it. The wine tastes as good as if I am drinking from a freshly opened bottle. I use to discard wine after a couple of days, now I drink it til the last drop, which amounts to three more days. For a reasonably expensive wine, my wife doesn't complain about wasting money (although she does about drinking a glass everyday cursing American Heart Assciation) love it. totally taken me away from my need to finish a bottle of wine in one sitting before it goes bad :) Gave it to my husband and he really enjoys it. He likes how the pump clicks when it has pumped all the air out. Also, the wine pour spout is great - no more drops on your tablecloth. My wife and I typically have a glass of wine at dinner. The Vacuvin product works very well. After pouring some wine, we seal the bottle after each use, vacuuming out the air, and the rubber stopper works well enough that we can lean the bottle on its side and put it back into the wine refrigerator. I am very glad I discovered this product recently. It really saves wine from going stale. Good News/Other News/Disappointment

Pourers in the Stainless set are plastic. Appears to work OK. I didn't hear the click, however I didn't have my hearing aids on. (Cuisinart CPC-600 1000-Watt 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker RETURN / REFUND)
(A whole new style of cooking for me!)
(The outside surface is not withstanding the test of time!)
(WOW) Received the product in 3 days. It was delivered via Fed Exp. Saturday Morning. I am anxious to start using the cooker. After reading the instructions, it looks like it will be easy to use and much better then my 20 yo cooker I have been using.
I used the cooker ONCE and the 2nd time, the cooker DID NOT get up steam, I entered MENU, TIME, then START, the cooker started, went to '00', YELLOW, finished, NO COOKING, I did that several times, called CUSTOMER SERVICE, we talked, nothing different worked, I was told to RETURN the item. I have returned the item and want my REFUND. Thank you, Ronald A Stricker I'm very pleased with this product! Found the instructions to be fairly straight forward and am using Lorna Sass' book "Pressure Perfect." Have made pinto beans, pulled pork, beef stew, steamed rice, bread pudding and a couple of cheese cakes! The only recipe that didn't come out as lovely as I'd have liked was a cooked whole chicken. I still prefer an oven roasted version. Cooking it whole in the pressure resulted in soggy skin (in spite of browning as instructed) and bones that were sort of mushy. I can see how you could make really delicious stock with bones but it's not as appealing when it's for your main course. Clean up is a breeze with the nonstick surface. Overall this is working out better than I expected! 6.5 qt capacity is plenty big too. Whenever I get a new appliance I use it a lot to become familiar with it and have consequenlty learned to pressure cook. I do like the speedy process and the delicious results, but my pressure cooker insert pot is wearing way before it's time. It's a non-stick surface and I have been VERY cautious to only stir with wooden or silicone kitchen spoons, etc, but the outside of the pot is the same finish and all along the outside base on the bottom the finish is wearing away. I've only had the pressure cooker 1 month and love the low maintenance aspect of the electric pressure cooker, but the eroding of the outside surface has me scared and wondering actually how good it is to be using a pot with the finish wearing away and exposed. There's been a lot of controversy with the non-stick type surfaces. I just bought myself a Kuhn-Rikon ALL stainless steel pot and now that I've learned to use a pressure cooker, I think I'm going to turn to the Swiss made brand instead. I'll have better peace of mind about knowing what vapors aren't leaching into my food at dinner time. After watching Jacques Pepin on PBS one Sunday use one of these I decided to take a look at one. I did my homework and read all the reviews including the one from the gentleman who could not seem to get it to work, and then did at a later date. I bit the bullet and ordered my cooker. I have not used a pressure cooker in years, mainly because they took so long to get up to pressure on the cooktop and because of the large amounts of hissing and spitting that went on during cooking. I have to report that this model is easy to use, very quiet, and a cinch to clean. Lamb curry in 20 minutes! Deliciously tender beef ribs in 55 minutes. And oh I forgot it browns as well so you get the wonderful taste of a fond and the look of roast meat instead of some insipid grey looking food. Cuisinart updates a classic! Our brushed stainless pressure cooker is safe, easy to use, cooks up to 70% faster than conventional methods and cooks healthier, too. Steam trapped in the pot builds up pressure that creates hotter temperatures, and the pot is so tightly sealed that vitamins and minerals can't boil away. Foods stay moist and flavors stay true. Features variable pressure and temperature setting, plus Browning, Simmer and Saute functions for perfect roasts, stews, vegetables, cheesecake or custard. The Cuisinart Pressure Cooker is absolutely safe, with a lid that has to be locked in place before pressure builds, and stays locked until pressure is released. Cook faster, eat healthier, with Cuisinart! Rerations < Cuisinart CPC-600 1000-Watt 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker, Brushed Stainless and Matte Black >

(cuisinart prep 11 plus food processor, white)
(Easy to Use, Easy to Clean!)
(food processor) Everything from dough to grinding meats it fits my needs.A great value for the money spent! I just purchased my Cuisinart food processor today to replace an older one that I had (the bowl of the other one broke and it would have cost me almost as much for a new bowl as buying a new one). When we opened the box we noticed that we had a broken part in the box. This part belonged to the only piece that is not shown in the manual so we had no clue what the part was to look like and/or the part had broke off. We called customer service and spoke with someone named "Larry" that was extremely rude on the phone. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he would not allow me to speak to one until he was assured that I wasn't calling to complain about him I guess. I even had to ask this man if I was going to have to turn in a BBB report stating how I was not allowed to speak to someone with authority. Eventually we were connected to a supervisor (after quite a while), the supervisor was very nice and we were able to clear up the problem. Had I not have purchased this food processor at the markdown price of $100.00, I would have immediately brought it back to the store and bought the Kitchenaid to replace it. But, for the price I got it for I decided to grin and bear it. this is my 2nd cuisinart in 30 years, and i love this new one so much!! it handles everything. i've even done bread dough and it came out beautifully!! I really love this food processor. It is a simple design that I can leave on my counter. It is easy to use and easy to clean. I throw almost everything in my dishwasher. Motor is powerful and fairly quiet. 11 cup size is perfect for my small family or cooking for a group. This food processor is wonderful. It runs very quietly and processes food quickly. I love the large bowl. The directions could be a little clearer in how to put on the attachments, but it didn't take too long to figure it out. I would highly recommend it! Large-capacity food processor - An artistic tool for preparing fine cuisine Dishwasher safe parts Locking cover with large and small feed tubes for fruits and vegetables of all sizes Shatterproof Lexan work bowl is shatterproof, heat and cold resistant with 11-cup capacity Pulse control Includes 45-minute How-To video and booklet with 75 recipes 10 Year Limited Warranty Underwriters Laboratories Listed Size - 15H x 8W x 10.5D; 18 pounds. Equipped with an extra-large feed tube, a small feed tube, a dough blade, and slicing and shredding discs, this 600-watt, 11-cup, full-size food processor provides all the power, versatility, and capacity needed by any household. The motor automatically adjusts the speed to ensure proper consistency when mixing doughs. Cooks experienced with Cuisinart food processors will welcome the new feed tube and pusher assembly, which is easy to use and conveniently located at the machine's front. At 4-1/4 inches by 2-3/4 inches, the large oval feed tube accommodates whole fruits and vegetables. The small, cylindrical tube is located inside the pusher assembly and has its own hollow pusher, which removes with a twist. On the bottom of the small pusher is a pinhole for dribbling oil into the bowl while making mayonnaise. The Lexan work bowl is virtually shatterproof and impervious to heat or cold. There's the familiar stainless-steel chopping blade and a dough blade. Stainless-steel slicing (4 mm) and shredding discs, a plastic spatula shaped for the work bowl, a recipe booklet, and an instruction video showing basic use, tips, techniques, and preparation of some recipes from the booklet complete the package. (Existing Cuisinart blades and discs also fit this machine.) Cuisinart warranties the motor against defects for 10 years and the remaining parts for three years.--Fred Brack Rerations < Cuisinart DLC-2011BCN Prep 11 Plus Food Processor, Brushed Chrome >

(It gets better with every use!)
(great)
(This is Great)
(Best of the Best) First saw a product like this in Argentina and could only find it on Amazon. Quality item that gives you as close to that out side grill as you can get inside. Like my grandmother's ironware, metal seasoning is the key to non sticking and you get some supplemental iron in your food as well. As a weight loss health provider this holds some of the grease off the food yet retains flavor. Recommended for my patients as a part of weight control eating modification. LouisBaileyDC.COM This was my first time using cast iron cookware, and it was almost the last. After my first attempt, I was very disappointed. The second the food contacted the pre-heated pan it stuck to the it, and I mean really stuck to it. I had to tear the chicken breast from the pan, literally! The clean up was a nightmare. Everything was burnt on. It probably took me close to 20 minutes to clean the pan. I thought about trashing the grill. I thought cast iron cookware was a joke.
Well, a couple of days later I decided to give it another shot. I looked up cast iron cookware on the web and clicked on a random link (unfortunately, I do not remember the link, but it was an old article). The website article explained (if memory serves correctly) that there is a difference between pre-seasoned and seasoned cast iron; it takes many uses to develop a good seasoning of the cast iron utensil; pre-seasoned just means that the first step was already started. It also stated that one should never use any soap or scrub with anything harsh; a plant-fiber brush is recommended because the goal is to get the particles off the pan, not clean off all the used oil left behind. I'm thinking I should have read the directions that came with the pan before I used it instead of assuming it was good to go.
I decided to give it a few more tries. I purchased a cast iron scrub brush to use for cleaning, and spent more time cleaning it before my second use because there was still a lot of burnt on food still stuck to the pan. After a few more uses, I started noticing that food wasn't getting stuck as often, grill marks are looking better and what was burnt on the pan was very easy to clean off with the brush and hot water. About a dozen uses later the pan has developed a smoother, more glossy surface on the cooking surface. Now the food (even fish) just glides off the pan. A quick rinse with hot water and most of the burnt on stuff just flakes off. A quick pass with the brush and the pan is clean and perfectly smooth, in fact, this is the easiest pan to clean in my kitchen. After use (while the pan is till warm but not hot), I just rinse with hot water and a quick pass with the brush, dry it, lightly coat it with oil, and store it for next use.
And the brighter side to this.....it is starting to impart some flavors on the food that makes it taste fantastic! The grill marks are clean and consistent, and it cooks everything evenly.
To the folks who had bad luck with using this for the first time, give it a few more tries before you write this off. It did not work for me at first because I did not read the directions and assumed that using cast iron was no different than using any other type of cookware.
Works like a charm for grilling any dry food. Wet foods drip too much and burn on the bottom of the pan. Oven safe opens up some creative options if you have an oven safe grill press. I am a cast iron aficionado and this is the first cast iron product I have had which is difficult to clean. I'd say it takes me a minute or two to get it clean if it has gotten perpendicularly messy and I let it soak for a few minutes first. It cooked just like all theother reviews said. I think this is great except the cleaning of it of course. Great flavored food from using this grill pan. I love it and would buy it for friends and family. Its great all year round, even on a camping stove or fire pit. Put restaurant stripes on your grilled favorites like a pro. Low fat cooking as the ribbed bottom pan lets you keep foods from simmering in fatty drippings. 10.5 inch square skillet is Seasoned and ready to use. (Best hand shapener we've found)
(Fairly Easy To Use And Happy With Result)
(For German knives)
(Quick) This knife sharpener is an excellent product to use, if you use it correctly. I "HAD" several old knives that were as dull as dull could be from decades of use. Most required five pulls through #1, and four to fives pulls through #2. Yet when they came out of the sharpener, they are as sharp as I had hoped. Also it literally only took seconds to sharpen each knife. I insert the blade into the sharpener as vertical as I can, and pull the blade through slowly, I get the best results. This seems to resolve all the problems others have reported, at least for me. Are the knives factory sharp? By no means are they. Yet the knives are sharp enough to do what they were designed to do, CUT safely. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone who would use it correctly. I just bought the Henckel's sharpener for use on our chopping block and sharpening knives on the go. My wife thinks is the best one yet. I bought a couple of Henckels knives about a year ago. They work great, but by now had gotten a little dull and I needed a sharpener. I read many of the good reviews about this sharpener, so I went ahead with the purchase with confidence and expectation. I used it yesterday for the first time, sharpening the 2 Henckels as well as my old set of kitchen knives. I noticed that I do need to put a bit of pressure on it as I draw the edge over the slots. Otherwise it is pretty straight forward and easy to operate. All of my knives are now sharp and I am happy with the result. Will recommend this. This thing does a great job on German knives, but will ruin Shun or other Japanese style knives, which are ground at a sharper angle. It works very quickly, put on a good edge, and made a great improvement. I should have purchased one long ago. Suitable for all quality knives with non-coated blades / Features two slits - 1 for Fine and 1 for Coarse Sharpening / Left and Right Hand use Henckels Twin Sharp Duo knife sharpener is suitable for all knives with a fine edge, with the exception of coated knives. The stainless-steel sharpener comprises two modules, which are marked on the sharpener. The first module features steel wheels for coarse sharpening and presharpening, and the second module uses ceramic wheels for fine sharpening and smoothing. This sharpener works well for both right- and left-handed people, features rubber feet so it won't skid on the countertop, and measures approximately 8 inches across and 3 inches tall, so you can store it in a drawer or display it in a small space. To use, place the knife sharpener on a flat surface, pressing down slightly with one hand. Draw the knife blade with a little pressure towards yourself, repeating up to five times for the dullest blades. For very blunt knives, use the first module and then the second. Knives with a bit of bluntness may require only the first module to bring back the original sharpness. Check the results by cutting into a sheet of paper. Rerations < J.A. (Ok toaster, Space Saver)
(Worked for a couple of weeks)
(Sunbeam Toaster - great product)
(Uneven toasting, strange smell) I love this toaster.....so do my grandchildren. it's the best I've ever had as well as the price. Love making toast ! The toaster does an ok job of toasting. The controls are not well designed. The extra buttons to toast a frozen bagel seem like a good idea, but the buttons are easy to accidentally push in. The good news is that with the buttons on, the toaster doesn't start to toast, but the light for the button stays on when pushed in. The footprint of the toaster is a space saver, but this also limits the bread size to standard slices or smaller, definitely not good. Overall, there are better toasters out there with simpler designs for less. Left two slots work fine. Right two slots: outter coils on each work; inner coils do not work. So I guess it might work only if you're toasting a bagel with the cut side facing out. Poor quality. Also, very difficult to release the toast mid-cycle (like if it's getting too dark); the lever is very hard to push up and release. Won't buy another one. This is a great toaster for the money. If you don't need a toaster with all the fancy features this is the one for you. Toaster works great and is easy to use once controls are figured out. We used this toaster twice -- both times it filled the kitchen&most of the house with an awful burnt plastic smell. It might go away with more use, but we won't keep it to find out because the left side toasts very unevenly. Waffle came out burnt brown on one edge of one side, and the other side wasn't toasted at all. Our old Krups toaster was also a 4-slice model, and toasted perfectly (until it stopped after 5 years...). In 1935, Sunbeam introduced its first automatic ''Pop-Up'' toaster. Today, we offer superior toasting performance in various designs and colors. Features: Anti-jam mechanism for safety. 4 slice capacity. From sliced bread to hamburger buns, extra wide slots allow for a wide range of bread types and sizes. Separate toast controls for simultaneous toasting at different settings Electronic Toasting Technology. Remove toast easily with our high-rise toast lift. (Pizza Peel)
(It does what it should.)
(my pizza peel)
(Beautiful Design!) This pizza peel is convenient because it folds up. However unless you heavily coat it's surface with corn meal or flour the dough likes to stick to it. A pancake flipper does the same thing and is much easier to store. Not really worth the money. I have been experimenting with pizza making for a few years. I've gone through a few Pizza Peels in that time. I've tried the traditional wood, the one offered by Epicurian and this one. The wood one is too thick and although its tapered nicely to retrieve the pies it usually has a problem placing the pie on the Stone. The Epicurian peel was alot better but I still had difficulties transferring the pies to and from the stone. The Mario Batali Peel has no problems at all. Its strong enough to handle a fully loaded pie to and from a pizza stone. I particularly like the thinness and strength of the blade. Its easy to clean and can be taken apart for easy storage. What's not to like? It does what it should. It does what I need it to do ;scoop up pies and pizzas and put them in my oven and remove them when they are done baking. It is way too big to be a back scratcher! I use this for pizza as well as breads and really like the shape and space on the peel. The handle is very comfortable and it is nice and light, yet still sturdy when loaded with your pizza or bread. I do take off the handle when I put it away though as it is very large. The handle goes in a drawer and the peel can be put along side my baking trays which is very convenient. The reason I gave it 4 stars, is because when putting the peel (without handle) in the dishwasher it did not come out looking good at all. There should have been a warning that it was not dishwasher safe. Still, I am very happy with this peel and it will serve me well for many years. Safely remove pizza from hot ovens. Handle folds for convenient storage. In his campaign for accessible, delicious food, Mario Batali is one of the most popular chefs and restaurateurs in the world. Created by Copco and inspired by Batali, the Italian Kitchen line of cookware and tools reflects the famous chef's philosophy that great food needs no gimmicks. Durable, versatile, and high quality, the collection is perfect for the active home chef.A must-have tool for anyone who makes pizza, focaccia, or calzoni, this pizza peel transfers fresh pies into and out of the oven without ruining their shape. Thin yet durable, the peeling surface is crafted from stainless steel, while the comfortable handle is made of wood. In a pleasant innovation to many peels on the market, this one features a collapsible handle so storage is not a headache. For cleanup, just wipe it down.--Emily Bedard Rerations < Mario Batali The Italian Kitchen Collection Pizza Peel >
