(More than anticipated - As always - Excellent Hamilton Beach-) 『and Procter-Silex appliance perfection - sleek design - ease of use - allowing an old Yankee [in the South] to cook as her Grandmother did - handful of this -palmful of that -
Rec'd at 12:45 and by 4:30 pm 4 large boneless chicken breasts - simmered w/carrots; celery; onion and a squirt of Honey BBQ sauce/water to cover 'table ready' ...
12 yr old name brand 6 qt gave out last week - now a 'simmering pot humidifier' - Have never been disappointed in either of these manufacturers.

(A Great Cooker) 『This crock pot was just what I wanted: just large enough to cook enough food for a couple days and designed so that the ceramic pot can be removed from the cooker and stored in the refrigerator. Plus, it cooks food great!』
(This product is junk - don't waste your money!) 『I don't know if it works, didn't bother to try. As soon as I opened the box, two plastic rivets fell out of the crock pot (which hold the black plastic jacket/handle to the silver/metal body). Everything was cheap, plastic and flimsy, with the exception of the ceramic crock and glass lid. I figured if the housing could fall apart so easy, it might become an electrical hazard down the road. So I immediately packed it up and shipped to Amazon for a full refund.』
(Piece of junk) 『This is truly a piece of trash. I put on lamb shanks with veggies a few hours ago, and although it has been on LOW the entire time, I just found the temperature dial and 'wings' melted. I now have to return it! What a safety hazard and piece of cheap c- - -. Do NOT buy this one.』 『4 Quart Oval Slow cooker with full body coo touch handle design for easy carrying&moving. Holds up to a 5 lb chicken .3 Heat settings- Hi, Low&Keep warm. Beautiful black with chrome accent color design.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Simply the best!) 『This is without a doubt the best instant read thermometer I have ever used. It is FAST, only 3 - 4 seconds, and extremely accurate. This is a large device and the display is big, easy to read numbers. The sensor probe is the longest I've seen and the temperature sensor is in the very tip of the probe. Plus the new splash proof design takes the worry out of getting it wet. I highly recommend the Thermapen to any serious cook who wants the best.』
(Super fast and easy) 『I've tried other thermometers, but got frustrated waiting endlessly while they slowly ticked upward. I don't have that problem with the Thermapen. With the others, I spent too much time with my head in the oven (and the heat getting out) and it finally occurred to me that I'd be better off paying for a really good FAST thermometer that would work in a variety of settings. I bake bread and like to check the internal temperature of large loaves to ensure proper doneness, but don't much want a big hole in the bottom. The probe on the Thermapen is very slender so the hole is significantly smaller than when I've used the others.
Another thing I like is that when you open the Thermapen, it's instant on, close it and it's off. The changeable battery is easily accessible when, and if, you need to change it, ensuring a very long life.
One bonus for me is that I may be cooking a single serving of something so there isn't much space to insert a thermometer. The sensor in this probe is quite near the end so you don't have to insert it very far to get a good reading. The only thing I don't like is that being left-handed, the display is on the wrong side for me, so I have to consciously think to hold it in my right hand in order to read it.
I ended up with my multitude of probe thermometers because none of them really did the job satisfactorily. Happily, this thermometer is really effective. While I don't plan to get it wet, who knows, the kitchen is a volatile place, so I decided to spend a little more for the water resistant version to ensure that wouldn't be a problem. It doesn't clip on to a pan so doesn't work for candy, but I've used it for just about everything else and am very satisfied. 』
(This is an awesome thermometer) 『I love this thing. Say bye to dry chicken. No more need to overcook just to be sure. This thermapen is really fast. It's easy to use and I don't have to worry about it getting wet. LOVE IT!』
(A must have grilling tool) 『Bottom line is that if you grill, you gotta have this gadget. It's the fastest thermometer i've ever used!』
(Worth it.) 『I've had the older Thermapen and used it alot. Just got one of these and I like it even better. Very cool.』 『The Super-Fast Thermapen has been a favorite among restaurant chains, health inspectors and quality managers worldwide. Hundreds of thousands are in use. The clever fold-away probe and the simple pocket design replace more costly and bulky handheld thermometers while using the same professional thermocouple technology. This new generation Thermapen introduces a robust, splash-proof design with molded-in seals to protect the thermometer from wet hands and kitchen splashes. SPEED&ACCURACY - Even more accurate than before and slightly faster! Our proprietary circuit yields accuracies better than±0.7°F. That includes all errors! (many competitors don't include the probe error in their spec.) Each unit comes with a NIST-Traceable certificate of calibration showing test results for the individual thermometer. Resolution is now 0.1° over the full range. Improvements in the probe technologynow yield a blazing fast speed of 3 seconds to a full temperature reading. NO CABLES! - The components most likely to fail in a commercial thermometer are the cable and its connector. Also, the typical handheld meter and probe combination requires two hands. What do you do with the cable when you'rethrough with it? The competition want you to wrap it around the meter, which is time consuming and a natural trap for grime and bacteria! The one-handed Thermapen eliminates frayed cables, snags, germ traps and wasted time while freeing your second hand. SIMPLE OPERATION - Just open the probe and the Thermapen comes on. Close it and it shuts off. No buttons or switches to catch germs, confuse staff and cause errors. Configuration settings in the battery compartment allow management to easily set the Thermapen for °C or °F, read in tenths or whole degrees (0.1° or 1°), and disable the auto-off for continuous readings till the probe is closed. Although likely to never be needed, a calibration trim button fine-tunes the unit calibration at a single temperature such as an ice-bath.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (disappointed) 『These are great knives out of the box but I found that, after only a month of daily use, the paring knife lost its excellent edge and had to be sharpened. I've never had good knives before, but it seems to me that the edge should last much longer than one month. It's better with the sharpening, but not as good as the original edge. I don't much use the larger slicer and chef's knives but I will probably learn how.
I'm not displeased with the set, only disappointed that the knife did not hold its edge.』
(Nice for the price) 『I bought the 10" bread knife on the recommendation of a PBS cooking show and was impressed so I bought this set. The knives are very sharp and seem to hold an edge, though I have the Chef's Choice 130 sharpener if and when I need it. I'm adding the 7" Graton (sort of to replace the Wustof) and 8" Chef's (the 10" is often too long for quick chops.) I have a Wustof (Classic 7" Sankotu) and even one Cutco that are very sharp and keep their edge, but these have better handles (IMO) especially when my hands are wet. I have severe neuropathy (nerve damage) in my fingers and the Fibrox handles are easier for me to control. If price was no object, I go with Shun, but for less than $150 I put together a very decent set using the Victrinox Fibrox handled knives Edited section I forgot to mention that the blade on the 10" Chef's knife is taller than most and you may need to modify your knife holder (using a dremel tool or something similar to widen the slot) to accommodate it.』
(Excellent knives) 『I bought these knives after a news piece on NPR mentioned them as an example of a relatively well priced 'good' brand of knives. The guest on the program had written a book on kitchen knives which at first sounded kind of ridiculous. Needless to say, l had never thought much about the knives l use before. This set has certainly changed that. Compared to my previous generic 'made in china' wooden block set of knives, these have much better feel, grip, balance, are much sharper and easily are up to all the common kitchen/barbecue tasks. Definitely worth the price and l guarantee an eye opener for any other knife novice out there. The only inherent negative which my wife raised quite rightly was that these are so sharp that an accidental cut is likely to be deeper than usual. We are therefore being doubly careful as we enjoy our new versions of a previously mundane kitchen tool.』
(arrived on time in good condition) 『Seems like a good bargain to me.They are only a couple weeks old. They fit in the Henckels 20 - slot Storage Block which was important to me.』
(Knives) 『This knife set seems to do the trick. I have yet to use the largest knife, but have used the 8" and the small knife a number of times. It appears that the 8" may be losing some of it's sharpness already, although I haven't really paid to much attention to whether it is the knife or what I am cutting. The small knife is quite sharp and works great for cutting tomatoes, fruit, etc. Overall, I believe that these are a good purchase if you do a lot of chopping but are not much of a chef. Good everyday product.』 『Our high carbon, stainless steel blades are hand finished in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be resharpended over and over again. Each Victorinox knife is stamped from a single sheet of metal. The blade is then hardened, tempered, ground, polished, etched and finished. Our patented Fibrox handles are hygienic, dishwasher safe and slip-resistant. All Victorinox cutlery products are backed by a lifetime guarantee.』 『This set of three knives from R.H. Forschner by Victorinox makes an excellent gift for the home chef. The 4-inch paring knife adeptly manages most fruit and vegetable peeling, cutting, and garnishing; the 8-inch slicing knife carves the Thanksgiving turkey and other roasts; and the large 10-inch chef's knife tackles a multitude of kitchen chopping, mincing, and slicing tasks. The Fibrox blades are made in Germany and hand-finished in Switzerland. Providing a comfortable grip, the triple-rivet, ergonomic POM (plastic over molded) handles are curved in such a way so as to reduce wrist strain over long periods of use. While the knives are dishwasher-safe, Forschner recommends washing them by hand and covers them with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.--Ann Bieri

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (takes a little work) 『You use a back and forth motion to sharpen the hatchet or ax, not a pull through.
I used a very dull hatchet that's used to split kindling wood, mainly 2x4 pieces.
It takes a lot, I mean, a lot of back and forth pulls but, you know what, my little hatchet started to develop an edge and was getting sharp.
I'll get back to it when I need to split more kindling and run the hatchet through a couple of dozen more times.
The more you run your az et al through the sharpener, the more it works for you. No need to worry about shaving off too much metal from a hatchet.
I would not use this sharpened for my kitchen knives, though. But I would use it for a cheap camping or outdoor knife that would get sharp with a crude edge.』
(As advertised... BUT....) 『I don't care for this product. It easily slides around on most smooth surfaces; not good when working with sharp objects. Cumbersome. Cuts very roughly. Difficult to use with bulky or awkward tools like axes and hatchets. Would probably work ok for dressing up kitchen knives if the stones were finer. While it works as designed, to a degree, there are better products out there.』

(Popover pans) 『This was an excellent buy. The popovers turn out high and beautifully brown. I love the no-stick surface.』
(overall good except sticks horribly) 『Makes great popovers, but they indicate to use butter in the cups and they stick horribly. Have to carefully pry them out with a thin spatula to remove them intact and it's almost impossible. That's very annoying and disappointing, but otherwise it's a decent pan.』
(Greatest Popovers ever) 『I replaced my twenty year old popover pan with this one. The popovers were perfect. I'm in charge of bringing these little gems when we are invited to dinner. Now they look even more impressive than they did.』
(Plaque may be called non-stick but needs pan spray) 『I bought two 6-cup Chicago Metallic popover plaques and the 12-cup plaque. I am an experienced baker and have been making popovers for more than three decades; they always worked in my 12-cup muffin tins that I either sprayed with baking spray or greased with Crisco. Perfect, no sticking.
The new plaques from Chicago metallic do create beautiful popovers (depending on the recipe, the heat of the oven, and the experience of the baker), and are crisp, brown, and delicious. But this morning as usual my gorgeous popovers stuck to the sides of the cups of the Chicago Metallic plaque (though I had put 1/2 tsp melted butter in the bottoms of the cups as directed). Do not believe the hype, even non-stick pans need pan spray.』 『For baking popovers (the moist, bread-like muffins with lightly browned, crispy tops), it's best to use a pan made solely for this job. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Just the right extra filter for that Dust Buster) 『It's always good to have a spare filter to keep the Dust Buster going while one cleans the filter that came with the purchase.』
(Great Price, High Shipping) 『This was the most convenient way for me to purchase this filter. great price but shipping was way to high considering to amount of time it took to receive the filter (Almost 3 weeks).』
(Filters for the Black and Decker) 『Now that Black and Decker has changed the style of its hand vacs, it is becoming more difficult to find the filters for the older models. This filter can be found here online or you can go to Wal-mart and get the generic arm&hammer filters. They both fit well and you can continue to use our old vac. Although, I have to say the new cyclone vacs are better (ergonomic, retains battery charge longer, picks up everything, and easier to clean the chamber afterwards).』
(Works like a charm) 『With kids my dustbuster gets constant use and it definitely improved the power of the dustbuster, cheerios get swept up alot faster now and it saves me a few extra minutes. I don't have to keep going over the same spot to pick them up. Replacing filters keep everything running smooth, I've also replaced my vacuum ones and don't forget the ones in your home heating/ac system, everything requires maintenance....even the dustbuster....but this filter does the trick....』

Mr. Coffee
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Best Buy of my year!) 『This makes excellent lattes! Even better than the major chains and every bit as good as my favorite independent shops. It's also compact and fits perfectly in my smallish kitchen! I LOVE it!!』
(Good basic machine) 『This is not a machine with lots of bells and whistles, but it is perfectly serviceable, especially at this low price. You do have to be vigilant to stop brewing when the amount you want has finished, but as some other reviewers have said, adding a shut-off component would no doubt raise the price.
I removed the black plastic frothing aid after the first use and now make fantastic micro-foam with the bare steam wand.
I wouldn't recommend this machine for someone unfamiliar with the espresso/steamed milk process (I'm a former barista), but definitely for anyone who has used machines before.』
(One week into it: Very pleased and it's paid for itself.) 『First I'll preface my review by saying that while I like espresso drinks, I'm NOT a hardcore coffee snob. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "I only drink hot chocolate" and 10 being "I only drink the finest coffees straight from Columbia," I'm probably about a 7.
So when I decided to give my coffee maker a break and mix things up a bit, I was pretty intimidated seeing espresso machines running upward of $300. Clearly I was not in the market for something that expensive but I also didn't want something so cheap and worthless that I would never use it. This thing is a home run.
It's easy to use, reasonably stylish, works great, and is priced just right. Although the process of making espresso drinks is much more involved than making a pot of coffee, I find myself going the extra mile often because the flavor is just so much more pronounced. I really can make drinks on par with the local coffee shop for what seems like pennies (espresso uses fewer beans than a pot of coffee too)!
You probably will need some practice to get the process down and find out how best to set up the machine for what you're trying to make (i.e., figuring out how much water you'll need to still have steam available after the espresso is brewed) but after that, it works great.
I fully recommend this product and do yourself a favor and get a frothing pitcher, thermometer, and tamper to make it as smooth as possible. 』
(Best espresso machine ever) 『I used to work at Starbucks and since then I've become an espresso freak. I wanted an espresso machine that was manual (they taste better than the automatics) and simple. I bought this because it looked similar to the one I owned years ago, and this one lives up to all my expectations. This espresso machine is easy to clean, easy to use, and makes a perfect cup of cappacino/latte every time. Makes up to 4 cups, which is more than perfect for my morning caffeine dose, and is very quick to make and clean up. I wouldn't trade this for anything.』
(Safety Hazards) 『I had this coffee maker for under 1 year and it never really made great coffee. it was just about okay. this afternoon, however, to our total shock, the coffee maker just burst in the middle of the brewing process. we clean the coffee maker after each use and it was very well maintained so the fact that it burst was a total shockfor us. to be more precise, the glass carafe was broken to pieces and scattered all over my living room and kitchen. we ended up dumping the whole thing for the fear of it injuring family members in case we ever tried using it again. like i said, this coffee maker isn't bad - it makes okay coffee, but i recommend that you buy something else coz this is definitely a safety hazard in your kitchen. I believe the coffee maker creates excess pressure for medium to fine ground coffee. Most of the famous brands like Peet's of Illy has grounds that are tending towards fine. So having a machine that is only safe for coarse ground makes you want to compromise on the quality of coffee. 』 『Makes delicious espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes. Rival
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great crockpot for the price.) 『It doesn't take a chef to figure out how to use this thing. It also doesn't take a genus to realize what you're getting for $19.99.
I've had this crockpot for 2-3 years now and the only problems I've had with it were my own fault - i.e. filling the pot too full or etc. I made soups, stews, and chili in this thing and it always turns out fantastic.
Seriously you folks out there expecting this thing to be solidly constructed and to be able to handle making more sophisticated meals - maybe you should consider paying a bit more than $20. I'm sure this thing would have problems with more complicated recipes (I've never tried personally)...but I'm stressing this point again...it's a $20 crockpot...
For the price and for what this thing can do, you just can't beat it. Nothing beats coming home from work and having stew or soup hot and ready to eat.』
(Cheaply Constructed) 『The crock pot is the perfect size for small dips and stews. However the crock pot is poorly constructed compared to other Rival crock pots. (1) The crock pot is slippery. The crock pot must be placed onto a surface with something that has grip. The feet are slippery and the crock pot will go on an excursion on the kitchen counter while stirring the contents. (2) The lid is does not fit snug at all. (3) The removable pot is also ill-fitting. Not up to snuff with other Rival products. Perhaps that is why you can purchase this item for less than $20 or $15.』
(It works.) 『It does cook things faster than some larger crockpots will. But I live in a dorm, so I'm usually not away for 9 to 12 hour stretches. I can cook lunch at breakfast, or I can get up at noon and still have something ready for dinner by 5 or 6.
If you want something that you can start before you leave for work in the morning and have ready and not overcooked by the time you get home at night, I would NOT recommend this, because it doesn't have a timer that will switch it to "Warm" when it'd done cooking. It'll just keep cooking.
But it is a good buy for dorm residents that want to eat real food every once in a while, or who are looking to save money on meal plans or eating out.
Just don't start something unless you know you'll be back within four or five hours to turn it off.』
(Perfect for Dinner for Two) 『We already have a full size crockpot, but we bought this so we wouldn't always have to prepare a huge meal, just for the two of us. It is just what we hoped.』
(Great size, but. . .) 『I got this crock pot as an alternative to my larger crock pots, which often result in too many leftovers. The 2.5qt size is perfect for 2 people, and for smaller recipes like Mac N Cheese.
Unfortunately, this crock pot is just too unreliable to use regularly. Even on Low, it cooks much too hot. This can result in burned or overcooked meals. Even worse, it has a hot spot. This means that if it's not stirred frequently during cooking - and thereby defeating most of the purpose of the crock pot - the food will burn and stick to the crock in that particular spot, even those times that the Low setting isn't too hot.
In addition to the cooking problems, there is no "Warm" setting on this crock pot. Both of my larger crock pots have this feature, and while it is uncommon in smaller pots, I really miss it.
I'll be putting this crock pot in the next yard sale and replacing it with the Proctor Silex 3-qt. Slow Cooker.』 『2.5qt Slow Cooker White』

(Quality) 『I've had this for a few months now and there's really not much I can say about this product other than it looks great and it works great. It seems to be holding up very well.』
(Inexpensive and impressive way to cook) 『These are very user-friendly, inexpensive, and impressive. I have used them to make asian-style dumplings and other dishes (like vegan sausages) with great results. They clean up very easily and do not take up a lot of room. Somewhere along the line I was told to line them with parchment paper when cooking so that is typically what I do. The result is whatever I am making doesn't stick. The only time I do not use parchment paper is when I am making something like a vegan sausage, which is typically wrapped tightly in tinfoil.
Best of all, people seem to be impressed when I cook with them. Even though I have a lot of foodie friends people seem to assume my food tastes better when I use these steamers. Overall this is a great gadget that is much more than a novelty. That said, I have found these steamers all over at various price points. The construction often seems identical so if you can find one elsewhere, like an Asian supermarket, for less you're probably not sacreficing much (if anything) in quality. That said, these seem to be fairly priced compared to what I have seen.』
(works) 『Just wish it were a little bigger but that's no fault of this steamer. Works just like any other steamer...』
(My Review) 『This steamer set does a super job. It will easily "steam for two". It will handle all vegetables I can think of. It also steams pre-cooked frozen shrimp -- delicious. We all take them camping and each family brings the fixings for their favorite flavor of ice cream. I used it at several parties and the kids have a blast with it.... It also makes pretty decent ice cream. My only negative is that it makes too little ice cream.
