(All the Fixin....a winner!)
(Sexy....hot.....Page-Turning Interacial Romance) First off, the cover is beautiful, the book, not so much. I was very excited to read this but then I started reading and realized that I wasted my money on this book. Next time I will wait for reviews before purchasing a book.
Save your money on this one, so not worth it. Craig Clark Evans is pissed as hell when he finds out his aunt has left her six million dollars cosemtics business to a woman he can't stand...but is secretly in love with. He wants to find a way to get the business away from Shea without losing his heart to her in the process.
Shea Anderson don't want the business, stocks, or money Craig's aunt Rebecca left her all she wants to do is open her own B&B and not fall more in love with Craig Evans than she already is.
All the Fixin' is a wonderful read in my opinion. It showed how two people can be in love with each other, but misunderstanding, bad decision, and otehr mistakes can keep them apart. I really enjoyed watching how Craig and Shea finally come together.
I really hoping that Ms. Rochelle will write a sequel with Craig bestfriend Josh and Shea's best girlfried Pierre. Just the little bit I read about them made me want more. I got this book when it first came as an ebook and I'm very excited that I have the chance now to purchase it as a book. Craig and Shea are a wonderful couple. Craig is the kind of Alpha male that when you first read about him has you wondering what in the hell he's doing. However, after you read further you start to understand his reasoning.
Shea is warm, sweet, kind and loving. She's a woman with a dream of owning her own business and doesn't like a handout from anyone. She has been in love with Craig for a while, but she isn't going to let her love from let him get by with some of the stuff he wants to do.
I thought Shea was strong yet sensitive. Craig was stubborn because he didn't realize what he had until he almost lost it. I really loved this book and I'm very pleased I can now add it to my book collection.
Ever since Shea Anderson laid eyes on hazel-eyed hunk Craig Clark Evans, she longed to feel his lips pressed against hers. But that would never happen, because Craig hated her from the moment he met her at his aunt's house. His dislike for her only grew after his aunt left her as the sole owner of her company, Luscious Lips. Craig Clark Evans is determined to uncover how Shea tricked his dying aunt into signing over all the stocks of the family business to her and not him, but every time he looks into her dark eyes, his desire for her grows and other more pleasurable thoughts enter his mind. However, it doesn't matter how much he might want the ebony goddess in his bed, he plans to do whatever it takes to get his family business back. Will Craig come to his senses before it's too late and Shea's love for him is gone forever? Rerations < All The Fixin' >

(Addicted to Zane books!) This is not a Zane anthology. This is a novel (a story with a beginning, middle, and end). The Story was a lil Unrealistic it was not a horrible book but the ending does not seem realistic. I'VE NEVER REALLY BEEN INTO ZANE'S BOOK CAUSE THERE USUALLY NOVELLAS, BUT THIS ONE WAS GREAT. WITH EVERY CHAPTER READ I JUST COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. AT THEN END YOU ARE SHOCKED BY THE OUTCOME JON EXPERIENCES. Nervous was an AWESOME novel. It captured my attention immediately. The author is AWESOME and I look forward to reading more of her books. This was the very first book I read by Zane and I loved it! I am on my 3rd Zane book now and I haven't been disappointed yet. This book is really great in describing someone with MPD. I have only read the text book version of the disorder but this book puts it into perspective. Great page turner. Zane's legion of fans can't get enough of her way of telling a juicy, sexy story. InNervous, theNew York Timesbestselling queen of erotica brings us a tale of a woman with a split personality. Jonquinette has always been nervous around men, but on the weekends her alter ego, Jude, goes on intense sexual escapades. When Jonquinette seeks the help of Dr. Marcella Spencer, the psychiatrist Zane originated in her bestselling novelAddicted,Jude's response is to go on a sexual rampage. In the meantime, Jonquinette becomes interested in her new neighbor, Mason, but Jude has no intention of letting Jonquinette fall in love -- not when Jude's having so much fun. Based on a short story of the same title from her bestselling collectionThe Sex Chronicles, Nervousis classic Zane with an edge. So, relax, sit back. You're in for a nerve-tingling read. (Ok read)
(Not for everyone...)
(some history) This book is so eloquently and beautifully written particularly given the dark topic. I loved how the author painted a colorful picture for me of O's life, surroundings, experiences, acquaintances through such descriptive yet discreet verbage. A must-read for anyone interested in BDSM. this book is tasteful yet errotic and has a great story line it kept me interested... i didnt need to skip pages to get to the good stuff it kept my interest through out So this was not what I expected and I dont think it lived up to the hype. It was very erotic in places, exciting, and weird in others and flat out CRAPPY in some places. And the ending blah. That being said if youre curious about S/M it is worth the read. 3 1/2 stars is better but that wasnt offered. Ps :Check out Power Exchange (Christina Brashear)..that book has a bit of everything including genuwine affection.LOVE! The Story of O is about a young, beautiful Parisian photographer named O who wants nothing more than to be her lover's slave. She goes through strict "training" for two weeks at Roissey, a club where other women like her learn how to "obey" their masters in whatever they order them to do, whether it be for their masters alone or for other members of the club. O goes through harsh punishments, such as being whipped and flogged daily and being chained to her bed every night. What is most disturbing about this first part of the book, is not O's harsh punishments that she endures, but the fact that she endures all this debasement willingly.
Though she may be considered as a masochist at the beginning of the novel, it becomes clear while reading through the rest of the novel that this is not the case. This is not so much a story about masochism, as it is more a story about love, about how much a woman would sacrifice for it, and the length a woman will go to keep her lover, Rene, happy. O derives no pleasure from the physical, emotional, and psychological torture she endures. Rather, her pleasure is derived from the aftermath of those things: the lashes to her skin, the debasement and objectification of her body and the cruelty that she willingly chooses to endure makes O "happy" in the fact that she is doing all this to please her lover.
O is not a prisoner or slave in the normal term of the word, but rather she is a slave to her love for Rene, as he has made it clear to her that she is free to leave anytime she desires. But she is blinded by her love for him and feels that by enduring the punishment he puts her through, she is becoming closer to him. Or rather, she is becoming his, his object, his property. O cannot stand the thought of losing him or of being separated from him and she feels that her submission to him proves to him that she is his and only his and he can do whatever he wants with her so long as he dos not leave her:
"O was happy that Rene had had her whipped and had prostituted her, because her impassioned submission would furnish her lover with the proof that she belonged to him, but also because the pain and shame of the lash, and the outrage inflicted upon her by those who compelled to her pleasure when they took her, and at the same time delighted in their own without paying the slightest heed to hers, seemed to her the very redemption of her sins."
I saw O, at times, when in the presence of her "masters" as very naive, bordering on the edge of foolish, but cannot help but feel that she deliberately acted this way to seem all the more submissive to them. The only time I ever see O, the real person and not as an object, was when she was with her lover Jacqueline. But I found it odd that O took on many of Rene's domineering characteristics while with Jacqueline, wanting to be in control of Jacqueline intimately, wanting to control her body the way Rene controlled O's. It was only when Jacqueline saw O's body, the marks of the flogging and her scars, that Jacqueline began to back away from O and O had "felt insulted at seeing Jacqueline's contempt for her condition as a flogged and branded slave, a condition of which O herself was proud".
This novel is definitely not for everyone. In fact, it's not for a lot of people due to the neverending violence. I have heard many people call this book "erotic" but it was nothing like that for me. The only reason I kept reading was because I was more intrigued by O. I wanted to understand her, but I think at the end, I was only more confused by her and her mindset. I began thinking toward the end of the novel that she was nothing more than a [...], which ironically, is just what O wanted people to think of her. I also began to greatly dislike her, whereas at the beginning of the novel I was indifferent to her. The ending of this book also left me with a feeling of emptiness as I still had more questions that will forever be unanswered.
What probably disturbed me most about this book, though, was surprisingly not the torture that O endured. If she had been unwilling, it would have caused me to sympathize for her but because she was a willing partner in it, I could not seem to find any kind of sympathy for her, except for at the very end which I will not give away here. That, in itself, disturbed me but what also disturbed me was the fact that I saw in O many characteristics that I have seen in a lot of women today: her willingness to please her lover, to go to drastic lengths to make her lover happy, and her blind passion for him. when i first read it i was a young teen-ager and it had a profound influence on me. yes i am male, and yes the debasement and torture of O aroused me greatly, but it also had a deep spiritual effect which is difficult to explain. i won't apologize for, try to justify, or write a disclaimer for this book. neither will i speculate as to whether it is pornography or literature, as surely these are not mutually exclusive. nor will i offer the fact that the book was written by a woman (it was) as its justification, as it is better served without any, and because theorizing about the significance of this fact is usually just political point scoring of one sort or other. but what i will do is offer up a little bit of history to dispel some of the misinformation i have seen in other reviews, and then of course my own opinion which is the point of writing a reviews is it not?
in 1994 Dominique Aury (which wasn't even her real name, but yet another pseudonym), a prominent french literary figure and editor finally admitted to having written the book. she wrote it over several months every night in pencil instead of ink, so as not to stain the sheets of her bed where she lay writing. she didn't write any first drafts, did no editing, and every few days sent what she had written to her lover, the French writer and editor Jean Paulhan. he slept around and she wanted to arouse him and keep him interested; it worked.
the novel was published in 1954 under the pseudonym Pauline Reage as a homage to Pauline Borghese and the 19th-century feminist/socialist Pauline Rolan. there was much ado about the book when it was published of course, with bannings and burnings in the U.S. and Britain especially. it was exclaimed that it had to be the work of a man, which just made Dominique laugh. like O, she was deeply in love with Paulhan. she was fascinated by his ability to marvel at both the most terrible and awful, as well as the most cheerful and beautiful things. is the book about spiritual transcendence, or the 'basest' of debauchery? yes of course, it is both of these things. but most of all, in my opinion, it is about affirmation, in the Nietzscheian sense of an 'amor fati', total abandonment and laughter in the face of death and pain, as well as love and joy; a love and respect for the eternal contradictions of life. Dominique once repeated the well known saying that a leopard never changes it's spots, and added something to the effect of: "that we should just let her go with her contradictions". and so we should.
O is a young, beautiful fashion photographer in Paris. One day her lover, Rene, takes her to a chateau, where she is enslaved, with Rene's approval, and systematically sexually assaulted by various other men. Later, Rene turns O over to Sir Stephen, an English friend who intensifies the brutality. But the final humiliation is yet to come. Rerations < Story of O >

(Overall good)
(10 stars)
(Great Read!)
(Okay Read) I read this book on the way to and from Atlantic City and didn't look up once. Overall this was a good book, but some of the parts were unrealistic. It seems like the writers tried a little too hard with some of the scenes, which took away from it. I'm from the hood, so every situation that was described in this book does happen in the hood, but the way the authors describe them is what make it sound unrealistic.
Would I recommend this book to someone, yes! Would I put this book on my top 10 list, no! i really don't have much to say, because everyone else has pretty much summed up the story. it was PHENOMENAL and if i could give it 10 stars i would. i cannot wait to read shameless hoodwives. this is by far, the best book of 2008!! When I told everyone the title of the book I was reading, they all kinda laughed at me. Well the joke is on them because this book was a PAGE TURNER THAT I COULD NOT PUT DOWN UNTIL I WAS FINISHED! It took me about 4 hours to read and it was definitely worth it. I just finished it and I'm still sitting here like d*mn! Another reviewer said it was stereotypical and I have to disagree. It's a sad reality of the desperation people have when put in a dire situation such as living in the projects, looking for love, trying to get out. This is the first book I've ever read by either of the authors but it definitely won't be my last! This book was okay. Some of the characters were just pitiful and the ending really surprised me. That Junior was a trip!!! I will purchase the sequel.
DREAMS OFTEN DIE IN THE PROJECTS In the first book of a drama-drenched new series, four unforgettablewomen will do anything to escape the hood. From their front stoops at Bentley Manor, longtime residents Miz Osceolaand Miz Cleo have seen just about everything and know all too well thatthere's no happily-ever-after in the projects. There's only the desperateneed to get out by any means possible. Aishahas what every other ghetto girl envies: a loving man whosupplies her with all the fashion, money, and accessories that scream"hood success." Now that her husband's in jail, Aisha may have to putsomething more precious than her designer gear up for sale in order tomaintain her image. The cost may be too high even for her expensive tastes. Devaniknows she's found her way out of the hood when she sleepswith Tyrik, a star pro athlete. When Tyrik's calls get further and furtherapart, Devani's mother suggests the perfect scheme: become his baby momma. Will Devani's plans force her man to commit, or backfire with the worstof consequences? Mollyis so in love with her husband, Junior, that she doesn't care if she's the only white girl in the hood. Blinded by her love, Mollylets everyone walk all over her. But Junior may cross the line, forcing Molly to give back all the abuse she's taken. Lexihas five children - and four broke baby daddies. Now she ismarried to Luther, Mr. Right in every way but in the bedroom. Determinedto finally provide a good man for her kids, Lexi must struggle to fighther cravings for sex with her ex. (OMG - They do not get any hotter than this!)
(Sex scenes are hot.....the story, not so much.)
(needs a tighter chain) WOW - I want to see this series continue with the brothers, uncles, cousins - just keep it going. I could not put this book down - the family was disgruntled with my read! Sarah is a hot author with hot characters and the sex is sooooo desireable with this totally alpha male. If you haven't ventured into this author and you just don't know if you can read a book with this type of hot, hot, hot sex - throw caution to the wind. You will be glad you did! I am not going to do a rendition, I see this has already been done. This book was great. Mac was a total alpha male. This book had passion, hot sex and an interesting story line. Kudos Sarah, I will be reading more of your books. I highly recommend this book. All I can say about this book is Oh My God! This has been the single most intense book I've ever read, they absolutely do not get any hotter than this one. I don't think I've ever blushed or squirmed in my seat as much as I did throughout this book and I LOVED IT!
All of Sarah McCarty's books are out of this world and hotter than you know where.
You absolutely do not want to miss out on this one! In a nutshell: Woman moves to old west, well, kind of. This book seems like an old western but it is a contemporary. Woman answers ad for job as cook for a rancher. Rancher doesn't want to hire a woman because of the horny old men working for him. Woman makes a deal to prove herself. Ranch hands love womans cooking. Rancher like woman. Woman likes rancher. They have sex. Rancher holds back anal sex from woman because of mommy issues. Woman leaves rancher until rancher realizes he needs woman in "every" way. They reunite to have all kinds of sex....The end. Okay, I know it's erotica, but this book had one (or two) sex scenes too many. I felt exhausted and sore. The ending made no sense at all, but you don't read these books for the plot.. However, that being said, with judicious reading and skimming, I feel this could be a very fine book (ie it just need better editing) And despite my criticisms it's still a keeper for me. It's a hot, hot book.
Book one in the Unchained series. Jessica Sterns has always been a good girl, doing right, dating right, following all the right rules. Now, at twenty-nine, thanks to a life change, she's got a whole lot of catching up to do, and a whole lot of bad girl to let loose. It's just a question of finding the right man. At first glance, Mac Hollister appeared to be just that man. The tall rugged rancher practically oozed testosterone, while his indolent posture, easy confidence and raw masculinity just screamed "bad boy". The kind of man women spin dark fantasies around. The kind of man she's looking for. The minute the honey-blonde sets her dainty foot on the sidewalk in Round The Bend, Mac knows he's in trouble. From the top of her head with its long French braid, to the tips of her toes with their delicate pink polish, this woman defines elegance. Not the kind of woman he prefers, but no amount of logic can dissuade his interest once he sees Jessie's smile. He's always been a sucker for a sense of humor. Especially when it comes packaged with a killer body and an equally killer wit. Mac expects their affair to be short, sweet and safe, but he soon discovers that beneath that delicate image lurks a woman who can handle all the "bad boy" he can throw at her. She's everything he never expected to find, and what started out short-term soon becomes a relationship that will demand a compromise he's not sure he can make in order to keep the one woman he can't imagine living without. (RIDING THE STORM by Sydney Croft (B-/C+))
(Enchanting Review: Riding The Storm)
(Sex-a-thon with a plot)
(I loved this book...) Beware this series contains homosexual sex scenes. I don't care one way or the other, but I know several people that would be greatly offended by that. Ok, also don't expect the depth of the Demonica Series. This is described as Erotica, basically I have found that means a loose plot and filler to link together really good sex scenes. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I would have liked to see the Agencies defined and thought out a bit better. There again I have NEVER found that in Erotica. Just don't expect too much, and it will be an enjoyable read. Here's a phrase I never thought I'd use: There's just too much sex in this book. I love erotic romance. It's difficult for me to get through a kisses-only romance because I crave the steam, the passion, and the electrically-charged encounters in a spicier book. But I also crave romance. I want to see relationship development and the day-to-day interaction that doesn't involve throbbing, dripping sex organs and screaming orgasms. In PNR and adventure romance, I want to read about science and problem solving. I want the book to engage my inner geek as well as my inner romantic. I want to get to know the characters, and I don't want to sacrifice plot for steam. Above all, I want balance. Riding the Storm isn't balanced.
This book left me feeling cheated. When I first read about a book series that combined science, sex, and superheroes, I thought "Wow! This series is so for me." I've always been a fan of weather phenomena and I'm a bit of a storm chaser, so the weather element of Haley and Remy's story in Riding the Storm really appealed to me. When I opened the book, I was looking forward to geeking out with technical weather lingo, superhero action, and descriptions of cool weather-tracking instruments. I was disappointed to find relatively little superhero action and even less science. What I got instead was an endless sex scene and a less-than-believable romance that equated immediate intense sexual attraction with true love. Love at first sight is difficult enough to pull off, but love at first orgasm really tests my ability to suspend disbelief.
LIKES: Riding the Storm isn't all bad. Remy and Haley are interesting people. They have amazing sexual chemistry and good relationship chemistry (though the latter wasn't explored in detail). Remy is strong and powerful, and Haley is calm and steadfast. Neither is hesitant or afraid to yield to the other when it's appropriate.
Dev, the leader of ACRO, is a pretty cool guy. While he wasn't my favorite character, I enjoyed learning his back story and seeing how he related with the ACRO team. I really enjoyed reading about Wyatt and Ender as well, and I'm hoping their stories are stronger than Remy's story.
I loved the side story about ACRO team members Creed and Annika. Creed is a powerful man that can communicate with ghosts and spirits. He's huge, pierced, tattooed, and hot, and he's clearly in love with tough chick Annika. Annika can control electricity. She can kill with just a touch. No one is immune to her deadly powers except the one man that drives her crazy with both anger and lust. Whew. Their story is sizzling. Apparently Creed and Annika's story runs throughout the series, and they haven't gotten a full book yet. I really hope they do because they're just absolutely amazing together and Creed is one of the hottest Alpha males I've ever met in a book.
The sex, although overwhelmingly abundant and in need of some toning down, is fantastic. Stephanie Tyler and Larissa Ione write amazing sex scenes. I'd call them love scenes, but unfortunately most of them really are just sex. My favorite sex scenes were the ones between Remy and Haley during the worst storms, and all the ones between Creed and Annika.
The superhero element still excites me because it's so rare in erotic romance, and the last third of Riding the Storm did deliver some good superhero action.
CONCLUSIONS: Riding the Storm is a good book. What's disappointing to me is that it easily could have been so much better. The book was interesting enough that I went ahead and bought the second and third book, and I do plan to read them. I'm interested in the superhero storylines and I love the characters. I just hope books 2, 3, and beyond focus more on the interesting characters and the fascinating world Ms. Ione and Ms. Tyler have created, and less on the sex that distracts us from the story.
For me this book falls somewhere between a B- and a C+. For readers that don't mind sacrificing plot for incredible and creative sex scenes, it might be an A. RIDING THE STORM SYDNEY CROFT
Rating: 4.5 Enchantments
Navy Seal Remy Begnaud has an unusual ability, a talent he's had since he was a small child. He can control the weather, particularly storms, with his emotions. After leaving the Navy, Remy wants to head home to the Bayou for some peace and quiet, but he's in for a big surprise. Instead of his father waiting for him, he arrives home and finds sexy meteorologist Haley in his place, a situation he may not entirely mind, but the question remains: what is she really doing there?
Haley Holmes, an agent for the paranormal group ACRO, has been sent to the Louisiana Bayou with one objective only - to get Remy to join them - a task easier said than done. She has to investigate the ex-Seal, and is given carte blanche to seduce him into joining forces with the highly secretive paranormal group. She will do what's necessary to keep him from falling into enemy hands. When it's all over, seducing Remy may be the easiest thing she's ever done. Because fulfilling the rest of her mission may be harder than she ever expected.
RIDING THE STORM is really like no other book I've read before, a phenomenal mix of action-adventure, paranormal and erotica. The chemistry between Remy and Haley is ignitable from their first meeting and doesn't let up. Remy's unique abilities make him more alpha than he'd probably be as a regular navy seal and Haley is out to prove herself as more than a simple meteorologist. I really liked the way Haley managed to break through Remy's walls and vice versus. Remy and Haley's story is interspersed with a subplot of two other ACRO agents who I hope we get to see more of in future books. Filled with action, suspense and sizzling sex, this is one book you don't want to miss.
What a way to kick off a series! RIDING THE STORM is an amazing read. This is a story that pulls you in from the first sentence and doesn't let you go. I read this book cover-to-cover in one sitting. One of my favorite scenes from the book is when the rival paranormal group tries to get hold of Remy for their own personal use, sending Remy and Haley on the run through the Bayou. The tension is palpable and the action fast, making it a great part of the book. If you like your romance hot and sexy, this is definitely a read for you.
Ms. Croft is the pen name of two published authors who came together to blend their very different writing interests into adventurous tales of erotic paranormal fiction. Together, they developed a world where people with extraordinary abilities, like the power to control storms, could live and work with others like them. The series has been described as "erotica meets the X-Men", and is unique in its own "erotic super hero romance" niche. The authors live in different states and communicate almost entirely through email, though they often get together for conferences and book signings. Visit them online at www.sydneycroft.com
Lisa Enchanting Reviews June 2008 This book is a erotic paranormal/action adventure romance. The authors are Stephanie Tyler&Larissa Ione writting together under the name Sydney Croft. The paranormal storyline is excellent and well written, but every few pages there are very graphic sex scenes, which I thought was a little much.
This book has it all and I can't wait to read the next in the series. A storm’s rage. A woman’s desire.
A man with the power to set them both free.
He can summon lightning at will. Emerge unscathed from the center of a tornado. Strip a woman down to her barest defenses through the sheer force of his sexuality. He’s gorgeous, dangerous, and the target of parameteorologist Haley Holmes’s latest mission. Haley has been dispatched to the Louisiana bayous to investigate the phenomenon known as Remy Begnaud–a man with a gift he never wanted: the ability to control a storm’s fury. But even a woman trainedin bizarre weather phenomena has no defense against the electrifying power of the ex—Navy SEAL...a power his enemies would kill to control.
With her agency monitoring their every move, Haley’s job is to seduce Remy, gain his trust–and help him harness his extraordinary gift. But who will protect her from this voracious lover who’s introducing her to a new world of erotic thrills—a man who grows increasingly insatiable with each new weather event? Haley knows a big storm is approaching—and with it will come unexpected delights. But so, too, will the storm unleash her greatest fears: an enemy bent on destroying Remy. And her worst fear of all—falling in love with this magnificent man, then having to betray him. Rerations < Riding the Storm (ACRO Series, Book 1) >
