(Disappointed)
(Great book!)
(The perfect book!) how nice to find a collection of great short erotica that is explicit and dirty but also sweet and not too rough or dark. bravo! perfect for sharing. I have read a selection of erotic fiction recently and was very disappointed with the short stories in this book - generally quite boring! This book is a gift that keeps on giving!I love that each story is a bite-sized tidbit of erotica, just enough to get your fantasies sparked, and explicit enough to put you over the edge. Thhis is a great book for couples, as it is full of erotic fantasies that couples will want to try together. Bravo to Alison Tyler: a great idea, perfectly delivered. My girlfriend and I are putting this one to great use! This sex book is filled with 69 super-short stories. They get right to the "heart" of the matter. Featured are some top erotic writers, but I actually liked all the stories, even by authors I hadn't read previously. I really liked a few by Rachel K. Bussel and one about a girl on a rooftop by M. Christian that was totally hot. I thought I'd read a few a night, but I ended up reading the whole book in one weekend. And then my boyfriend took it with him and did the same thing on a business trip...read the entire book in an evening. You just can't put it down. The short stories in this collection are written by the best authors in the businessincluding M. Christian, Thomas S. Roche, Sage Vivant, Maxim Jakubowski, Rachel K. Bussel, N. T. Morley, Dante Davidson, and many more. Some stories are sensational sexual snippets, while others are fully detailed dramatic depictions. All of the 69 pieces have one thing in common: They're dirtier than dirty. And we know that's just the way you like them! Rerations < Down and Dirty: 69 Super Sexy Short-Shorts >

Ellora's Cave

(Not the best Byrd)
(Hot with sexual tension)
(Way below par, even for Ellora's Cave)
(Hot! Hot! Hot!) Although the premise was interesting, it just didn't make sense. I found the book hard to get through although the sex scense were erotic. I really like Ms. Byrd, and have read most of her books. So when I saw Triple Play, I really wanted to get it but I was not willing to pay the asking price. I went to Ellora's website and was able to buy for the cover price. Not worth the money. The characters were not likeable. Denny could well have been the blow-up doll my boyfriend keeps threatening to replace me with. She has not one brain cell and is just a receptacle. The characters are not well developed and the plot is laughable! If I can re-sell it for $99, though I may be laughing all the way to the bank This book had so much sexual tension and Denny, the object of 2 men's lust was not the normal slim, unbelievable sex pot. To me she was a very normal woman who you could relate to. If you like the menage angle, you will enjoy this book. Gabriel is attracted to secretary Denny, but won't act on it. His best friend Jonah knows that the two are hot for each other and show up on his doorstep with Denny in tow and offers to be the third in a threesome to bring them together so they can realize their passion for each other. Basically one single night of so-called passion (with oddly placed flashbacks in the middle of torrid sex scenes), then the two profess their love for each other several orgasms later. Denny has no self confidence - we are told this over and over and over and... it just got old. No real romance, unintentionally funny dialog, and after awhile, the sex just gets tedious and boring.
I have found that Ellora's Cave novels are a hit or a miss for me. This one falls way short of expectations, and at over $11 (or over $100 on the Ammy Marketplace), a huge waste of money. If it's threesomes you're looking for, stick to the Men of August series by Lora Leigh. Boy does Mrs. Byrd like to push all the buttons. Gabe is in love with Denny but because of a past problem does not think he is good enough. But Denny is in love with Gabe and will do anything to win his love. And sexy Jonah is just the man to help it all happen. These three turn up the sheets in this book. Mostly the whole story ends up in Gabe's aprtment with wild hot sex, but hey I'am not complaining. This is one wild ride and I can't wait for Jonah's story to come out. Another great one by Mrs. Byrd Triple Play By Rhyannon Byrd Book 1 in the Sexy Sweet series One woman. Two men. And a passionate hunger too long denied. It's Gabriel Harrison's thirty-fifth birthday. His quiet night at home, spent alone with a glass of Scotch and a novel, is about to be shattered. (LMR Does it again!!)
(Rough trade meets refined.)
(Bud-alicious hero) Another winner from Ms. Rice! Claire, one of the most lovable charaters I've read in romance novels, a real survivor. Bud is her golden guardian angel...her sensuous knight in shinning armour... A unique couple to be remembered even after the story is ended. I will not talk about the plot. You have very nice reviews before mine to read. Just don't lose the opportunity to be taken by this story. Guarantee to have a winning smile on your face by the time you finish it. This is the second in the Lisa Marie Rice "Midnight" Series. I've come to enjoy her writing emensely&have bought all her other books. If you enjoy suspense, intrigue, romance&sex thrown together, you'll enjoy her writing. It may be too graphic for some. So many times a sequal is not as good as the 1st, but this book did not disappoint.
Bud is a hot alpha male and Claire is the perfect beautiful counterpart. A very heartwarming emotional read. It is nice to read a story with a great balance of suspense and hot chemistry. Name one real life inspirational cop. I certainly can't do it. So why is this profession so popular with writers? What's more, cops don't actually solve that many crimes. 20% tops. If I only did 20% of my work I'd be given my pink slip. I've seen some really fat slobs in cop uniform lacking even the most basic people skills. I do admit they are needed to keep the traffic running smoothly but that's hardly glamorous work.
Anyway the hero of this novel is a police lieutenant. With a habit of getting himself shot up. The hero's name is Bud. Personally. I think that's a terrible name for a hero. I suppose it's meant to signify honest-to-goodness blue collar values like hard work, integrity, loyalty. To me it signifies an overly large beer intake, rolls of fat and not being too bright. To the author I think it signifies the ability to do it energetically for hours on end and to put up shelves. Not that we get much of the former in this novel. What we do get a lot of is the c-word. I don't have anything against the c-word per se. However when it's used to describe the whole woman as opposed to just a part of her anatomy I do wonder about the person using it in this manner.
The heroine has never done it before. (In an Elora's Cave novel!) And her gentle initiation takes about a third of the story. A tiresome business. I was more interested in Bud's descriptions of his down and dirty times with the waitress. I also didn't see where the romance was. Bud literally steamrollers Claire into an engagement because he's intimidated by her father's wealth and social status. Presumably Claire accepted because he gave her a good time in bed. People have got married for worse reasons than that but it's hardly the stuff of a good romance.
What I enjoyed in the novel were Claire's descriptions of the personalities of the doctors and nurses who treated her in hospital while she was ill. These form only a small part of the story.
And. It needs to be said. Claire and her friends must be the most crime prone trio in the whole of Oregon. Which considering their income bracket is truly amazing.
Finally. Another poor minor character dies horribly in this novel. Todd Armstrong. The token gay friend.
I'm going to read another in the series. Midnight Angel. I just like the fact that the stories are contemporary and feature minor and major issues in current affairs. (In Oregon that is).
This was a book I stumbled upon while looking around the reviews on Amazon. What a great discovery! I've already ordered Lisa Marie Rice's "Midnight Man," which was the first in this trilogy; and "Midnight Angel," the third. Midnight Run is a well-developed story with a macho cop and a woman who's battled life-threatening illness and is just now in her mid-20s healthy enough to spread her wings and live a little. They fall for each other immediately, but it's believable and the love scenes (okay SEX scenes :) are well done. At first, Bud doesn't realize Claire's so fragile so he treats her as a normal grown-up woman. And she loves that, having been coddled and smothered by the well-meaning attentions of her loved ones. When things change and her beloved cop becomes a control freak, she has to take a stand. Won't ruin the story by letting any cats out of the bag. Totally agree with the reviewer who compared this to Linda Howard. In fact, although I love Linda Howard's work I wondered if it would be mean to send her this book as a kind of hint that she needs to GET BACK to this kind of plotting and characterization. And I wonder about the allegation that Lisa Marie Rice and Shannon McKenna are one and the same. That's probably not true, at least we better hope it's not as one author--unless she's Nora Roberts--is not as prolific as two. But if this rumor grows in strength to the "Paul McCartney is dead" level, garnered from the Abbey Road album cover, then that reviewer's work is done :) Claire Parks has been very sick, but she's fine now-just fine-and ready to paint the town red. Well, pink. On her first excursion into the wild world of dating, she nets Bud, a tall, sexy, good-looking lumberjack. She won him fair and square, her prize for not dying. But after a weekend of wild sex, she discovers he's not what she thinks he is. Undercover police officer Lieutenant Tyler "Bud" Morrison can't believe his eyes. What's a 'princess' doing in a dance club known for its rough trade? She needs rescuing, and rescuing women is what Bud does best. He saw Claire first-finders keepers. After a weekend of the hottest sex he's ever had, he's definitely keeping this one. When trouble comes her way, he pulls out all the stops to protect her. Except Claire doesn't want Bud at her back. She wants him in her bed. Review quotes for Midnight Run by Lisa Marie Rice A must read! One of the best romantica books I've read this year! (Carrie's Continued Journey)
(An outstanding followon to an excellent book)
(Damn Ponies)
(Totally ripped my heart out.) It's an alright book. I found it to be rather dry and clinical and couldn't connect with Carrie at all. The switching between Carrie's POV and Johnathan's was a bit confusing as well and the only parts I really liked about it was the pony training. The first book Carrie's Story was good, this one is still good but different. She goes for awhile to be trained as a pony-girl, and then after her 1 year slave agreement has expired, meets back up with her first master Jonathan. In some ways it was just as good as the first but I'm not big on all the pony parts. I'd say it was well worth as a 2nd book. This is the follow on to Carrie's Story: An Erotic S/M Novel where Carrie becomes Johan's slave and is sold to a very wealthy Greek. The characters are well done and there is some humor as well. Kudos to the author for an inovative use of an egg whisk (BTW it does work). The erotic scenes are well writern and have some inovation.
The plot ending is a little Story of O meiche meiche but better written. Excellent erotic writing. Not as good as the first, typical. It was still a good read and better than most erotic works. I just wish: 1. more forms of humliation and the like 2. less ponies, if you will 3. We fans of Ms. Weatherfiels weren't so spoiled by the first Still, I'm not the least bit sorry I bought it. OK, I guess I'm a sap. Who knew? This book had me in tears at the end, and yes yes the sex parts were hot but honestly, I read it for the plot and for the main character. The same day I finished "Carrie's Story," I began calling bookstores for this book because I had to find out what happened to her! Weatherfield has created a strong, intellectual, brave, adventurous, believable heroine who is so easy to fall in love with or even identify with that you forget you're reading porn. I loved all the literary references and the tributes to "Story of O," which were honest and fitting through the end. I want to call Carrie up on the phone and find out what happens to her NEXT.
I'm giving it 4 stars only because the structure of the book didn't entirely work. I didn't find it confusing, though I can see how others might. I didn't feel that the writer stuck to any kind of structure at all - she would start to, and then change her mind, and this bugged me.
From the author of Carrie’s Story comes the continuing tale of a young woman’s uncompromising sexual adventure. Carrie leaves Jonathan, the S/M master who initiated her into a life of slave auctions, training regimes, and human“ponies” preening for dressage competitions. Whisked away to Greece by the demanding gentleman who has chosen her as his own, she learns new, more rigorous methods of sexual pleasure. Rerations < Safe Word: An Erotic S/M Novel >

"Zane's legion of fans can't get enough of her way of telling a juicy, sexy story. Now, the New York Times bestselling queen of erotica brings us a tale of a woman with a split personality -- one highly sexed and one sexually repressed. Jonquinette Pierce has always been nervous when it comes to men. She took a job dealing with mostly women so she could avoid men. She goes to work and comes straight home during the week, but on the weekends her other self, Jude, takes over and goes on intense sexual escapades. (Three stories about werewolf heroes and their human mates)
(Running Wild)
(Fun, but a bit shallow)
(Great werewolves!) FIRST OFF,I LIKE PARANORMALS AND CONTEMPORARIES SO WHEN A FRIEND WANTED ME TO TRY SARAH MCCARTY HISTORICALS I WASN'T ENTHUSIATIC.BUT I DID AND AM I GRATEFUL I DID!RUNNING WILD IS FUN,HOT AND ROMANTIC TRILOGY WITH GREAT HAPPILY EVER AFTER,WHICH IS ONE REASON I READ.LOL.LOVE THE FANTASY!THIS IS A FANTASTIC WEREWOLF PARANORMAL BY A GIFTED WRITER WHO INCLUDES ROMANCE WITH HER EROTICA,A RARE BIRD INDEED.......WARNING:THIS IS A KEEPER!ITS GOING TO DISAPPEAR! Running Wild tells the story of three werewolf heroes and their human mates, who happen to be sisters. The story takes place in Haven, Montana, a small town where the women are opening a bed and breakfast, and the men have come to bring one of their own back to Pack.
Donovan is a Protector, sworn to uphold and enforce the laws of his race. One of the biggest rules in Pack is that werewolves do not mate with humans--to do so would dilute the purity of the race's bloodlines. But when Donovan scents Lisa Delaney, he knows that she's his mate and he has to have her, Pack or no. Lisa meets Donovan when she's in the middle of a fight with the man who disgraced her younger sister, Robin. She realizes she's in over her head too late, and Donovan steps in to back her up. Their attraction is immediate, the chemistry sizzles off the page, and this was a great introductory story to this book.
Kelon is also a Protector, and Donovan's twin brother. He's a bit more rustic--he prefers to live in the woods than among the humans--and definitely more rough around the edges than his brother. When Donovan calls him to help find the men who hurt Robin, he shows up unshaven and unkempt. He immediately regrets this when he meets Robin and scents that she's his true mate. Robin Delaney has had a hard life. She's endured two kidney transplants, and her new one is failing. She's also never had a real date. When she hears that Kelon is in Haven because Lisa and Donovan want to set him up with her, Robin is appalled and embarrassed. But when Kelon proves to her that he's interested in her regardless of their interfering siblings, things heat up quickly.
Wyatt is the sheriff in Haven, and the ascending Alpha of his Pack. However, he wants no part of the old ways and wants his Pack to be more progressive. But when he learns his father is dying, Wyatt returns to Pack to prepare to assume the position of Alpha. When he doesn't answer calls for a few days, Donovan and Kelon decide to go back to the Pack and find out what's happened to him--only they make the mistake of bringing their mates and the oldest Delaney sister, Heather. And of course Heather happens to be Wyatt's mate, which makes things strained in the presence of a Pack that shuns the idea of humans mating with their kind.
Running Wild was enjoyable, but the plot development was lacking. Primarily in that the first concern outlined in the story was that werewolves and humans not mate. Donovan and Kelon are Protectors, bound to enforce the laws of their race, and it seemed a little easy that they just threw those laws out the window when they met their human mates. There was no resolution or reason given, just she's my mate so forget about Pack. Still, Sarah McCarty knows how to write good erotica, so the stories were sizzling hot even if there was some sloppy storytelling in there. If you can look past the inherent hypocrisy in this story, and just want an entertaining read, you'll like this book. But if things like weak plotting and unresolved issues bother you, you should try one of her other stories like Caine's Reckoning (Hell's Eight). "Donovan"
Lisa Delaney is defending her sister's honor against the man who attacked her when Donovan McGowan steps in to help. Donovan is a Protector for his pack. It is forbidden for a werewolf to mate with a human but once Donovan catches Lisa's scent, he knows she is the one woman made for him. Lisa faces Donovan the same way she faces anyone who gets in her way: head on.
Lisa is cool, independent, and strong. She's the perfect match for Donovan. Donovan is very intense and all alpha male. He commands respect and always gets it. Lisa and Donovan steam up almost every page of "Donovan" as the first story of these three werewolves unfolds.
"Kelon"
Kelon McGowan's twin brother Donovan has asked him to help protect Robin from the man who brutalized her. Kelon prefers his solidarity. He is a Protector like his brother. For Donovan's sake, Kelon reluctantly agrees to help. When he sets his eyes on Robin he is instantly drawn to the fragile woman. Robin wants nothing more than to spend a night in the arms of a strong and virile man like Kelon, but she's sick and running out of time. Kelon wants forever with Robin and he'll make the ultimate sacrifice to get it.
"Kelon" is heartbreaking and heartwarming. It's moving and erotic and very kinky. I love the innocence and fragility of Robin and I love how Kelon's demeanor instantly transforms from reluctant protector to enraptured lover when he sees her for the first time. "Kelon" is a wonderfully written story packed with emotion.
"Wyatt"
Heather Delaney is the oldest of the three Delany sisters. She's the responsible one, the dependable one, the one who takes care of everything. Just once Heather wants to be cared for. When she sees her sisters settled down with their "mates" she can't help but feel a bit jealous. Wyatt Carmichael is the McGowan's cousin. He is also their pack leader. When Heather meets Wyatt she gets the proof that werewolves really do exist and that she just might be the mate to one. But the pack has turned against their leader and if they get their way, Wyatt will be dead before he can claim his mate.
Wyatt and Heather are so alike. They are compatible on many levels. Wyatt's is incredibly sexy and Heather deserves what she gets from Wyatt. I wouldn't mind getting some of that too! "Wyatt" is very exciting. It brings the final pieces of this trio of stories together and creates a fantastic ending to Running Wild.
Running Wild is erotic, loving, and heartwarming. "Donovan" is full of intensity, I was moved to tears at times in "Kelon", and I cheered for Wyatt and Heather in "Wyatt". I love the way Running Wild is written. There are three distinctive parts in a continuing story. Each one leads to the next until its dramatic and exciting conclusion. With Running Wild you get three for the price of one: three sexy werewolves, three strong women, and three erotic and exciting stories!
Nannette reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed Normally this sort of story of triple-couplings would be divided into three books rather than three stories in one book. On the one hand, this is a refreshing change. On the other hand, it did cause a couple aspects of the stories to get short shrift. The aspects of danger to Lisa and Robin are handled in a somewhat shallow manner---the danger to Lisa is resolved somewhat anticlimactically, and there isn't enough buildup to the nature of the danger in Robin and Kelon's story. Then Wyatt and Heather, who don't put in much of an appearance until the third story, feel somewhat cheated in terms of character depth (they're very interesting characters, but we don't get to explore them quite enough).
I do also have to ask---what is it with the sheer volume of paranormal books that have some concept of a 'true' mate? I mean yeah, it's romantic to think that there's one person just for you, but it isn't necessary for a great love story, and as a plot device it's getting to be rather over-used.
That's the extent of my complaints. I really enjoyed this book, and found it quite engrossing. The characters are fun and sexy, and each is distinct from the others even though they share traits in common. The exploration of this author's take on werewolf society is enjoyable, but takes a back seat to the characters (I mean that in a good way).
The romantic and erotic aspects of Sarah McCarty's Running Wild are very hot. As is often the case with werewolf stories, there's an element of dominance&submission, but the female characters are also quite strong and independent (it's a tough line to ride, but I think McCarty does it quite well). The sex scenes (usual adult material warning: very explicit sex and plenty of it!) sizzle.
Despite my above negative notes, I think Running Wild is a fantastic book. The characters are fun; the relationships are very enjoyable to explore; and the milieu definitely sucks you in. I'm not usually a big fan of shape-shifter romance. I got this at the library to tide me over until Ms. McCarty's new Hell's Eight adventure arrives. I will return this book to the library, then buy my own copy for my "keeper" shelf. Wolves or Cowboys, Sarah McCarty knows what she's doing! Loved it! Three stories of sensual erotic romance. Three werewolves who feed a wild hunger
Donovan must bring the Pack Alpha home and nothing more. But when he catches the sexy scent of Lisa Delaney, hes hers, body and souland ready to risk both on an erotic desire that will shatter all boundaries.
Kelon intends to return to his pack after helping Donovan, but he never counted on the voluptuous distraction of Robin Delaney. Shes the one woman who can make him contemplate a choice no werewolf should have to make.
Wyatt cant afford to be attracted to the practical, completely human Heather Delaney. But she isnt a woman a man ignoresno matter what the cost. Rerations < Running Wild (Dark Haven) >
