I did like the way they met but i also felt that it took too long for them to meet the family because in the other 2 books before it kind of felt like a family affair everyone interacting together and getting to know each other. But overall i like the the story. I received this book in a timely manner. It was in the condition that was advertised. I was happy to do business with this vendor. It was a fun escape. Rem was starting to devolve (a type of insanity) because he had been without his mate for so long. He found his mate Giselle who was a 36 year old virgin in Australia. The cure for his devolvement was to have as much sex as possible with Giselle for several years. It was fun seeing her go from one extreme to the other. The author came up with a few more creative ways of having sex. There were some good lines causing me to chuckle. The author used similar language in all of these books, which added to the humor. For example, rooms were called "chambers." There was the contol chamber on the ship and the battle-planning chamber in the palace, the sleeping chamber, etc. Women were called "wenches." Retail stores and restaurants were called shopping "stalls" and dining "stalls." No Mercy is the third story in the Trek series (labeled as story 2 by the author). I recommend reading them in order. I love Jade Black, I suggest this story and all of her trek mi q'an books. If you love hot steamy paranormal erotica to make your toes curl and make ya breathless, this is one of them! After reading Jaid Black's the Empress' New Clothes, I decided to read Rem's story, No Mercy. I guess its kind of hard to come back and top the original Trek Mi Q'an book and I skipped Dak and Geris' story Seized because so much of it was told in the Empress' New Clothes. After several unsuccessful attempts at finding his life mate, Rem is slowing starting to devolve into a blood thirsty monster who will live on human flesh from lack of nurturing from a lifemate. Thankfully, Rem finally finds his mate, Giselle in modern day Australia. Giselle, a 36 year old red headed freckled virgin, is on a date with a slob but she is so desperate to lose her virginity that any guy will do. In the middle of dinner she starts hearing an animal growling everytime her date touches her. After her date gets impaled with a fork, Giselle drops him off at the hospital and goes back home to find herself kidnapped by a 7 and a half foot gorgeous blond giant with glowing blue eyes who worships her and all her spots (freckles). She feels all his emotions and realizes that he is on the verge of changing into something dangerous and only she can save him. Before long, they are mated and on their way to his home planet they crash and must trek through unknown terrain in order to reach a portal to take them home. Along the way Giselle is subjected to humiliating experiences when one village has a law she must be naked and leashed at all times. Eventually though the pair find happiness and contintment but then a new threat arrives. I don't know why but this book kind of feels like the author just kind of threw a story together for Rem, without regards to making it original and fun like her previous story. She did throw in the devolving matter, but it just kind of seemed dumb. It lacked the passion and humor of its predecessor and just felt like demeaning, unemotional over the top sex. Without the real emotional feeling of the other book, it is just a sad imitation. Book 2 in the series Trek Mi Q'an Giselle McKenzie trembled inexplicably as the sound of a low growl reverberated throughout the threads of her consciousness. She knew it couldn't have emitted from her date, the man sitting across from her in the quaint restaurant. Yet every time he placed his hand over hers, she heard that eerie, primitive growl. I was disappointed in this book. It lacked any real depth. From about the first few pages I could have written the rest of the book myself and still yawned at the lack of creativity. I was really hoping that the main character had some past experience that I couldn't pull out of my back pocket. Some substance to her that I couldn't foresee. (Great Series!) (Pretty, But Noticeably Flawed) A fantastic book, great story and wonderful graphics. I hope this story can be continued in future novels. This series has a great story about a young man comming to terms with his love of another man. In this book he has to come to terms with the fact he is jealous of his lover's beautiful publisher. In the second story line the younger of our lovers has just come back when he left he didn't leave a note and didn't write for a whole year. Misunderstanding abound all for a happy ending. I feel kind of bad giving this book 3 stars. It's sort of on the brink of four stars, but there were just some problems that kept on nagging at me. Let me first say that while I was reading this, I was totally engrossed. The art is very pretty, the storyline flows pretty well, and the romance is nice. Especially during romantic scenes, the art is lovely. I won't say I regret buying it, but... After I finished reading it, the problems just kept hanging over my head. I can't say I like the coersion and rape and whatnot. I don't mind it if it's meant to be sadistic, but when they should be in love... In its defense, there is much less coersion than in the first volume, and I love the Junjo Egoist story, which is sweeping and romantic and beautiful and whatnot. But the Junjo Romantica story is beginning to get on my nerves. Manipulative, rich, talented, intelectually-perfect seme occasionally force-smexing inferior, struggling uke. Unfortunately, I may also be comparing this to Hybrid Child again, which was visually stunning and unbelievable, but it just doesn't seem to live up. I don't necessarily regret buying it, and I may (by my own masochistic nature) buy the third volume when it arrives, but it won't necessarily become one of my absolute most favorite mangas ever. Misaki and Usagi have been living together for over a month now, but when a beautiful editor named Aikawa enters the picture, will Misaki question his love for Usagi? Later, things get rocky in Hiroki and Nowaki's relationship when Nowaki contemplates leaving to study abroad! Will anything give these couples a happy ending? That said, I enjoyed this book. Although it is definitely not a romantic tale of bdsm, the writer draws you in to sympathize with the tormented female captives and even the recruited "hood" who is reluctantly drawn into his role of "master/spy." There is a real element of suspense, of "how will the character react to changing events" and at the end you know you have to get the next book, Klitzman's Empire, to find out what happens. This book will definitely raise your blood pressure... the scenes are hot! I think I tolerated the truly horrendous things the women suffered only because I felt the writer was on their side. The hero (or anti-hero) also shows a conscience and a spot of honor on occasion that saves him from true villainy. This book is rather hardcore, so if you want happy endings, you'll just have to hope for future books to give them (and I do), but it is a sexy thriller that keeps you reading. This book will make you cringe in spots. Not solely due to the at times very extreme sexually degradation but also because of the wrenching transformations the main characters go through. Now I will not lie and profess this book to be best of the best yet it is amazingly well written within the perimeters of its genre. The book is short and at times elements seem to be rushed in order to fit. This book is very much a treat. Imagine your most secret sexual fantasies given flesh through words. These are the things you think about but would never act upon in real life but here Paul Blades shows us how delightfully wicked those dark musings could be. This was the first book of this type which I have read and though it is slightly flawed it was something I read in one session simply because I couldn't put it down.Some of the scenes go againist what I personally was raised to believe but like passing a wreck on the highway I couldn't pull away. I had to look and Paul Blades seems to understand this complusion and turns it into a force which propels the hero as well as the reader through a bizzare world of matinee movie quality villians , forcible submissive women and tons of dripping wet sex. By the books end , much like the hero , the reader is no longer an observer but a partcipant yearning for the next scene to arise but alas the book finishes leaving one longing for more. If you are looking for a book which reads believably yet indugles in the most fanciful realms of bondage and submission then this is for you.Enjoy. The author is unusually good. The book is not only very well written, it is tastefully written. For those into such scenes of dominance and submission, he is very good at them.
