Katheryn Hendrix has been jilted, finds herself in a gallery staring at a portrait of Nadine Ellsingham. Suddenly she finds herself in Nadine's body 200 years in the past. She soon finds out that her husband hates her&is about to return her to Ireland with her servant, the evil Donner. After being threatened with bedlam Katheryn runs away. She has told her husband&some of his friends where she has come from. Of course none believe her. She tells a member of the government about an upcoming battle at the start of the American war of independance. After running away to prevent her being committed, news comes that what Kathryn predicted comes true that they believe her. By the time they find her she is in the hands of Donner again&being accused of witchcraft...
Can John, her husband save her?..... Kathryn Hendrix, a twentieth century librarian, escapes from the rain one evening into a dusty, old gallery where the only treasure is a portrait of an eighteenth century gorgeous redhead by the name of Elsingham. All of a sudden, Kathryn finds herself in the body of Lady Elsingham two hundred years in the past. She finds that everything that belonged to Lady Elsingham-her life, her belongings, her body, and her sneering husband-now belong to her. Kathryn becomes desperate-how to find her way home? But as her and Lord John became closer, and things began to heat up, Kathryn became to forget that she had ever wanted to leave, for now all she wishes to do is stay in the arms of the evermore intoxicating Lord John.

(Time well spent!)
(This is a Must Read!!!) So many writers have problems with time travel, leaving large gaps and holes in the plot. Readers finish the stories saying, "But what about...?" These issues have been avoided in this case by not explaining in detail how the process works. And that leaves the reader with the joy of simply becoming immersed in an interesting and suspenseful story. The author has obviously done considerable research into WWII, particularly the daytime raids over the continent. But it's not just an immersion in history. Baird-Jones has populated the work with realistic and appealing characters. Of particular delight is the spunky twenty-first century heroine. (Hero really, using the current vernacular.) Mel is a TV reporter with a photographic memory whose show challenges her to participate in difficult adventures. And her sheer stubbornness has kept her from opting out--so far. The adventure into the past, however, leaves her wondering if perhaps this time she should have declined. The reason she didn't have that option is the possibility of saving her grandfather's life and meeting the hero of her childhood. No wonder this work won the 2007 EPPIE award for best mainstream fiction of 2007! And a very nice meeting it is too. Mel and Jack had me rooting for them in no time. My love of the WWII era was well fed in this one; I swear I heard Glenn Miller's band playing softly in the background. And if you have to sit through an air raid in the London Tube, Mel makes good company. A few dropped articles, and a copyeditor who doesn't know Goering from Goring, simply don't matter. The story and the characters simply shine. Well done, Pauline!
Sharon K. Garner, Sanctuary and River of Dreams OUT OF TIME holds particular poingnancy for me as my late dad was with in the Army Air Force in World War II. This wonderful book would get 5 STARS from me, hands down, had it not been for two glaring mistakes and a minor faux pas or two.
In 1942, the historical time period for this book, the U. S. Air Force, as Ms. Jones suggests, did not yet exist as a separate armed service. Originally the Army Air Corps, it became the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) in 1940. It was NOT separated from the U.S. Army until 1947.
Their uniforms, flight suits and coveralls, etc. in 1942 were NOT blue as Ms. Jones writes. Like the rest of the U. S. Army in 1942, the Army Air Force wore olive drab wool uniforms in the winter and lighter weight khaki for summer. The USAAF did not adopt blue uniforms until they became the U. S. Air Force in 1947.
The term "neat" as in something is "really neat," as Ms. Jones uses it, didn't come along until the early sixties. I believe it was originally surfing slang. In the forties, the word of the day was "swell."
The manufacturerer of the B-17 bombsight is spelled N-o-r-d-e-n, not N-o-r-d-a-n as Ms. Jones spells it. Ms. Jones also failed to clarify that the bombardier actually flies the plane through the bombsight, which controls the aircraft's autopilot, during a bomb run.
Ms. Jones wrote that Jack and Norm were good friends, often paling around together. As a pilot, Jack was an officer, while Norm the radioman was an enlisted man. For the most part, officers and enlisted men did not "fraternize" with each other. It was actually against regulations. Jack and Norm would not have gone together to a pub as Ms. Jones depicts.
There were a few smaller issues, like a B-17 pilot and co-pilot would not be talking to each other in the cockpit in a normal tone of voice during normal flight, much less during a bomb run. Not gonna happen. Too noisy. They had to shout at each other or use the interphone (intercom).
That said, don't let any of the errors I've mentioned keep you from reading this book. It also has a few typos, but not so many they ruin the read. This book is a definite keeper for any romance reader's bookshelf.
You can't help but like Mel and Jack, the heroine and hero. I found Mel especially refreshing. She is the kind of woman that another woman could trust at her back, even with a knife in her hand. She is not your typical delicate, whiney, self-centered female. She's the kind of woman men respect on the same level as they respect each other. Kudos for these character, Ms. Jones!! Mel is awesome!! And Jack is YUMMY!
The author's facts were also dead on regarding the 8th AAF station at Bassingbourne Airdrome and the "Ragged Irregulars" of the 91st Bomb Group stationed there. She even threw in one of my heroes, Capt. Robert K. Morgan, pilot of the famous Memphis Belle.
She describes an air raid in London that makes you feel as if you're right there, experiencing every moment of it. And the ending...well, grab yourself a box of kleenex ladies. It's one of the most poingnant and satisfying endings I've ever read. Plus, it sets up a sequel so perfectly I sincerely hope Ms. Jones writes it. I will definitely be on the lookout for this aughor's books in the future.
Mel is a fabulous character, and the story resonates for lots of reasons: the well realized setting, the emotions, the deft touch layering the plot. The action, the passion - this is a book that's got so much packed into it, the time travel aspect works beautifully, and there's a fresh realism to the book, and a classic romanticism. This is a great read! This is book is a RIDE - you have to read it! My sixteen year old son and I both read this book in a weekend (we each had our own copy) and we couldn't put it down. The research of the time made the experience so real and believable - not easy to accomplish in a time travel type story. But the author pulls it off and it's exciting, humorous, well written. It's been a long tims since I've enjoyed a book so much! And it's not just "chick" material - my son is now wanting to read some of the author's other books! My husband is also reading it now and really liking it! He said it should be in every airport! This is a hit!!! What happens when a twenty-first century woman on a mission to change the past meets a thoroughly 1040's man trying to stay alive in the hellish skies over war-torn Europe? Melanie "Mel" Morton is an adventure reporter, who lost her grandfather in World War II. With no family left, she's all about doing her job and finishing her grandfather's biography. Enter Jack Hamilton, sexy octogenarian, genius/scientist and former WWII bomber pilot. What he tells Mel sends her on her craziest adventure yet--straight into the past to save her grandfather's life--and change Jack's future, if she doesn't accidentally end it. All Mel has to do is outmaneuver the entire German army--and not fall in love with Jack. Unfortunately, eluding the German army is the easy part... Rerations < Out of Time >

customer 's review (A wonderfully funny romance) This book made me laugh so hard I almost fell out of my bed. The story is about a woman in modern times who's fiance wants her to sign a prenuptial agreement. This sends her off to climb a mountain. She is minding her own business when her guardian angel in training sneezes and sends her back to the 1890's! She is very confused about all of this and so is the hero and his children who have seen her practically fall out of the sky. The handsome Oklahoma cowboy is trying to find out who is behind the damage happening to his ranch and is suspicious of the woman who is wearing strange clothing. But he is also highly attracted to her and when they finally admit that they have fallen for each other he is unsure of whether she will stay with him or not. The secondary characters of the guardian angel in training and his trainer are hilarious and had me in tears. The scene with the cow is the best. Pick this book up for sure. Unhappy about her boyfriend's requirement that she sign a prenuptial agreement, a sneeze from her guardian angel sends Tess Foster back to the 1890s, where she is rescued from the Oklahoma wilderness by cowboy Stone Chisum.

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Originally Posted on Romance Junkies in 2005) In the 1800's a young Indian boy named Moon Runner climbed a mountain to discover his fate. He hoped that the gods would show him what his future held, and they did-but not in a way that he expected. For this young brave, his future was foreshadowed in the form of Ghost Woman-a white woman with blonde hair, who would wait forever for his love. The boy believed in the prophecy, so much so, his entire life revolved around finding this woman who would fulfill his destiny, until his untimely and unnecessary death in 1884.
Chicago , Illinois , 2001 is a modern-day Mecca for career-oriented men and women, and none works harder than reporter Shannon Dunne. A research trip to the local library unearths papers from over a hundred years ago, detailing the life and death of an Indian brave named Moon Runner. Shannon is immediately swept up into the life story of a man she'd never heard of before. The only connection she shares with him-the story she so desperately wants to uncover-is a faded photograph of a handsome Indian brave who died too early.
Research leads to an oddity, not only in the form of an old woman who whispers Moon Runner's name and presses a small key into Shannon's hand, but also, with a fateful fall into a river that somehow changes Shannon's perception of reality. Because somehow, the river that began beside a road in South Dakota tumbles her down stream to a place hundreds of years in the past.
None other than Moon Runner himself rescues Shannon from her scary trip through the water. The man she's dreamed about, fantasized about, is somehow alive and well. And suddenly, Shannon 's orderly, sophisticated twenty-first century world no longer exists. Instead, she's surrounded by Indians-tents with deer-skin rugs and soft pallets on the floor instead of fashionable king-sized beds. She's done the impossible-she's traveled through time, and ended up in the arms of her one true love.
TWILIGHT KISSES is a wonderful time-travel romance. The relationship between Moon Runner and Shannon, his Ghost Woman, is heady and passionate. The book is filled with heat with a multitude of love scenes, all well-written and heart-stopping in their intensity.
When Shannon realizes that she may in fact be the cause for Moon Runner's death in 1884, she's determined to change the future. But when you're flung back in time, how do you change the past without altering the future?
Kudos to Ms. Storm for a highly emotional, entertaining story.

(Could've been better...)
(SHE'S THE BEST!!!)
(Horrible!) I really enjoyed this book. It is a time travel book in which both the hero and heroine go back in time. It was a lot of fun. Rafe weekend soldier and Helen, his commanding officer, are transported to the early west after a mishap in skydiving exercises. They are quickly mistaken for a Mexican outlaw and his girlfriend and narrowly escape being hanged. Helen, is a no nonsense modern woman who although is secretly attracted to Rafe, resents him for his womanizing ways. Rafe, a lowest of the low, has even had a vasectomy so he cannot father children. OF course, he finds out later on that that little operation didn't time travel with him. Fun and wild, even though he's a pig, you can't help but root for him seducing uptight Helen. Of course, this is fiction and fantasy and everything works out in the end. As much as I enjoyed the premise-- two Army officers get thrown back in time to the California Gold Rush by a mysertious training accident-- I would have liked to see more. Helen and Rafe have some history (they attended college together at a military institution) that I found more intriguing than the history they were living. Both Helen and Rafe are marginalized figures in their chosen professions, Rafe because of his race and Helen because of her gender. I think this could have been explored much further. Instead this book was a romance novel, first and foremost. Character development, exploration of important themes, and a realistic portrayal of the circumstances all took a back seat to the superficial sexual attraction and predictable plot of heroine and hero hooking up and getting it on. Maybe the genre is making strides by portraying an "interracial" relationship like this, but I'd like to see less stereotyping and sanitization. Romance novels don't have to be mindless fluff.
That said, the mindless fluff was good for what it was. The dialogue was engaging, the characters likable, and the setting interesting. All in all, a quick read worth my time but not full cover price. SANDRA HILL IS THE BEST!! THIS BOOK WAS FUNNY ENTERTAINING AND UNPREDICTABLE -- LIKE ALL HER BOOKS........I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! I ordered this book based on customer reviews. I wish I could ask the author to reimburse me for my money spent and the time I wasted trying to push through three quarters of this book. I kept waiting and waiting for these characters to emerge. I felt nothing for them. Their silly bantering grew tired after the first few chapters. I thought once the story went along that I would actually learn to enjoy them. I think the author relied only on dialogue to tell the story. I ended up tossing it aside and pulling out a great author who always delivers, Lisa Kleypas. Placed in command of the only man to have shaken her firm self-control, chaste Major Helen Prescott warns Rafe Santiago to behave himself, but the two find themselves on the run when they are mistaken for outlaws. Just what is corkscrewing? Major Helen "Prissy" Prescott should know, because she's the one who supposedly invented this infamous sexual act. Helen, who's been mistaken for a notorious Mexican desperado's girlfriend, has a lot on her mind, and figuring out how to corkscrew is the least of her worries. She has been transported back in time to California during the gold rush with Rafael Santiago, the most infuriating, yet sexiest scoundrel the National Guard has ever known. Helen wants Rafe to know that she's in charge, but Rafe's too macho to let a woman boss him around, especially a woman who looks like a Vargas painting come to life and who is far too distracting to take seriously. (Absolutly Fantastic)
(Pretty Good for a Time Travel....)
(Exciting,I stayed up all night reading unable to put it down) Tess held my attention from the first few pages. I read this quickly as I had to know what was going to happen! It incorporates so many of life's experiences weaving them into a plot that has twist and turns to keep your interest. Thanks, Tess. I shall read more! This book just kind of fell into my lap and I tell you it is one of the best books ever. Its starts off wonderful and ends fantastic. The charecters were so real. You fall in love with Jake and feel Torri's pain. I have never read a Tess M. book before, but I tell you, she is the best. God Bless all!!! I have never read a time travel before, but this was pretty good. It was all very interesting and had you wondering what would happen next. The ending was the only disapointment I had, you don't find out what happens to Christine and Harry, and if her granfather remembers her at all. But all in all it was a fun read, made me wish it was me doing the traveling! This was the first timeswept book I had ever read. It got me hooked. I did not realize that it was a catagory. I've been reading nothing but timeswept since. It was the best one out them all that I have ever read. This story was put together really well. Lots of history!!! The author did a great job! With the help of a mysterious heirloom necklace, the gift of her grandfather, Victoria Hamilton journeys back in time to the Civil War era, where she encounters Jake Cameron, a dashing Confederate officer. (good... not spectacular... rushed ending)
(A vivid, lush reading experience not to be missed...)
(Wow, Ancient Egypt and a great story, too.)
(An enjoyable time travel to ancient Egypt) The book was okay at best. It was a very interesting premise but Alex as so annoying it took away from the story. I almost started rooting for Tem. I think it would have been much more interesting if Kirk had not rushed the ending. It would have been so much fun to see how Tarik functioned in the future. On the whole, interesting premise--adequate to poor delivery. I'm a sucker for time travel romance. I fell in love with A Knight in Shining Armor a few years back and since then, i was hooked. I wasn't a big fan of the author's style of writing. First 10 pages, i was already getting sleepy. The story picks up after a few pages though. I give it an A+ for the premise. I felt that the ending was kind of rushed though. She could've spent a lot more material on the ending, and the story would've been more interesting with a love triangle with the other Egyptian King. Good character development with the male and female lead. It was an "ok" book in the end. I'd read it again just because i'm a sicko for Egyptian culture, but i don't really recommend it. Few writers can pull off writing an Egyptian time travel with the aplomb of Diana Kirk. I read Song of Isis years ago and loved the vivid and lush writing style. The characters are unique and the setting so strongly described I felt transported right back in time with the heroine. Diana knows how to create memorable external and internal conflict with consumate skill. My first copy of this book was an ebook, and I liked this novel so much I'm now getting a paperback copy to add to my collection. If that doesn't tell you how much I enjoyed this novel, nothing will. If you're a fan of ancient Egypt, I found this story fascinating. I could almost feel the sand in my toes. It makes me want more. I loved the characters of Tarik and Alex. Although their age difference is over 2000 years, I certainly found them appealing and most compatible. I sure hope Diana writes a sequel. I'm amazed at how different people view different books. In one review, the person said they caught all kinds of mistakes in the book and gave it a single star rating. This person apparently can't read because Seta was not Alex. Seta was the Nubian slave princess who became Alex's friend and was featured prominently throughout the book until the end when her husband was killed. There's even a sub-romance featuring Seta and her husband. And the part about how Alex magically can understand ancient Egyptian. She's the daughter of an archeologist and was taught the language (at least the visual part) from childhood on up. And she didn't suddenly learn Egyptian.
Well, I for one, liked it a lot. Enough to buy several copies for my friends and I think the author did a wonderful job of bringing to life a world that has been lost or forgotten. There are too few novels taking place in ancient Egypt. And as for Diana G's books, the OUtlander series, I found Clare's reaction to being sucked back in time, totally unrealistic. It was as if she wasn't surprised that she was pulled into Middle Ages Scotland. It was like, "Oh, I'm back in time. Oh well." And on with the story.
I guess that's what makes this a diverse population. One person's gold is another's lead. Time travel romance: CPR in ancient Egypt? Alexandria Stone is a physician with all the techniques of modern medicine at her disposal, but when an x-ray of a mummy found at her father's archeological dig reveals a procedure that hadn't been developed four thousand years ago, her excitement overcomes her scientist's logic. Determined to prove her theory, she visits her father's dig. In the hidden room of a pharaoh's tomb, her father discovers an ancient scroll lying near a statue of the goddess, Isis. When Alex attempts to sing the song written on it, she is transported back in time -- and right into the arms of the best looking hunk she's ever encountered: Tarik, chief physician to Pharaoh Mentuhotep. (A Fantastic New Twist on Time Travel Romances!)
(Worth the Money!)
(What a disappointment!)
(Somewhere Out There) This book was not as good as the reviews stated. I am still trying to figure out why I spent that much money on a paperback book. I was disappointed in the story. It could have been so much better if the author took the time to delve further into the lives of the characters. I don't usually take the time to write a review on Amazon as I am just too busy. I had to make an exception for this marvelous new book! Sandra Bojtos Hart has a flair for time travel romances that absolutely astounded me! I have to say that 99% of my reading for pleasure is time travel romances ~ I love them! Some of them are just good, some are really great. "Somewhere Out There" was fantastic! Don't miss this one! When you get to the end, you'll go back to the first page and read it again ~ I know, because that's exactly what I did. I hear it is going to be made into a movie which is something that I can't wait to see! I won't go into the story line, as I believe you should experience this magical ride by yourself. Trust me ~ This is a keeper! This book is worth every penny spent. I couldn't put it down! I stayed up the whole night reading it and was glad that I did. Twists and turns abound in this time travel romance. I love time travel romance but sometimes they can all start to seem like the same....not this one! How refreshing it is to have an author who knows how to write a new twist on a classic concept. I can't wait for the sequel! The problem with self-published writing is that it often doesn't go through a rigorous editing process: such is the case with this novel. I was really looking forward to reading the story, but I couldn't even get through the first ten pages. It's the most poorly written book I've ever come across. The author deserves credit for going through the excruciating process of committing her story to paper (which is the only reason I gave this effort two stars), but she needs some SERIOUS editing help. This book is an insult to intelligent readers. I just finished the book and I loved it. At first it was slow going but I stuck with it and I think this is a fantastic book. I am a huge fan of time travel and this book is going to be one of my favorites. I won't be re-selling this book! Eagerly awaiting another book by same author. Reader says, "Passionate Seduction, Shocking Deceit and Grand Adventure!" The Duke of Norfolk, has been having strange dreams of falling into a deep, dark hole and being rescued by a green-eyed lady in white. One dark, stormy night, dressed as a highwayman, he steals Lady Downing's jewels and by some mysterious trick of nature, he is transported through time. Focus shifts to the present. American Mary Ann Downing receives word that she has inherited half of a manor in England. She and her friend Sara travel to London to look over Mary Ann's inheritance and make arrangements to sell her half to her cousin, Richard Downing. Sara falls in love with a portrait of Damien at Whitehall Manor and is shocked to meet him when he travels through time.
