Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (interesting twist to the time travel scene) 『This is the first book I've read by this author and it won't be the last. Marian Edwards brings to life two wonderful characters. She doesn't pull any punches about how life could be harsh in 1067 in Wales but still she shows that love can conquer all.
This story actually begins in modern day with Regan, a handicapped woman and Drew her polital opponent die tragically in a plane crash. They die before thier time so they are put into the first two bodies that become available. that of Bronwyn, a beautiful Welsh rebel who has just murdered her new Norman husband Christophe. Christophe makes Bronwyn drink the same poisen and they both die only to be made whole again by the souls of Drew and Regan. Both remeber their former lives but don't realize who the other really is. They now must adjust to this harsh life and find what happiness they can. Everytime they seem to be getting closer to love something always drives them apart.
I was on the edge of my seat with this book wondering what was going to happen next. There is some humor and a lot of tenderness in this book. I enjoyed the secondary characters for they made the story whole. I can't wait to read the sequel. Heaven's Return.』
(This is Absolutely the Best time travel I have EVER READ!!!) 『Bronwyn of Lllangandfan is about to be married to the enemy, the Norman Lord Christophe Montgomery. Her father and brother convinces her to go through the ceremony, and after, to put poison in the wedding wine. They will provide her will an antedote to drink before hand. So terrified of this Norman and frightened by her abusive father and brother, she makes a mistake in the dosages and ends up killing the Norman as well as herself.
Regan Carmicheal and Drew Daniels, are political opponets. But that doesn't stop them from remaining friends. On a flight to the next campaign stop, they both think to themselves that they are attracted to each other, respect each other, but have never found the time to really explore anything past their friendship. Suddenly their plane drops and crashes. Drew is able to get to his free, but Regan is held secure by her seat belt. No matter what they do, they cannot free her as the flames begins to engulf the plane. Regan pleads with Drew to leave her, thinking she would die at least know he lived on. Drew, regretting all their missed past chances, stays with her. He is not going to let this valiant woman die alone.
After the plane explodes, Regan later awakes to find she is in strange place and dressed in a strange medieval costume. Worse, she is wife to a man who thinks she tried to poison him. What Regan does not know is as the life force of Bronwyn and Christophe blinked out, the Fates so touched by Regan's and Drew's self sacrifice, took pity on them and gave them another chance at finding love - as Bronwyn and Christopher!!!!
WISE Writers and Readers TIME TRAVEL Book of the Year 2000』
(Spellbound) 『After reading Heaven Sent , I could hardly wait for Heavens Reward. Both books kept me reading until the late hours of the night after work. I was not disappointed and I have sense read more books by Marian Edwards. All I can say is Marian keep it up.』
(second worse book I read this year) 『I got intrigued by the cover summary (two people that knew each other in our time are sent back into the bodies of a medieval couple fighting each other due to the historical circumstances), but the book was poorly written. There is no real character development, no real character attributes (besides statements like "cared for others") that would make the couple recognize each other. It is only about the sex between a lovely woman and a brute of a man and about the mistrust between them.』
(SIMPLY FANTASTIC!! WAITING BREATHLESSLY FOR THE SEQUEL!!) 『This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. To think when I first read the synopsis I wasn't interested. I finished the book in one sitting. It was simply fantastic, I'm waiting breathlessly for the sequel. This is my first time reading a Marian Edwards book, but it won't be my last!』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The best and worst rolled into a pleasing one!) 『Constance O'Day Flannery, the queen of time-travel romance, offers a worthwhile and thoughtful novel in Once and Forever. Maggie Whitaker, recently divorced, jobless, and burned out on life in the fast lane in the U.S., visits her intriguing Aunt Edithe in England.
During a Renaissance faire Maggie finds herself, costumed and all, transported back to 1598 England and at the periphery of a plot to unseat the Queen. Meanwhile, she is thrown together with Nicholas Layton, a handsome poet and musician. An undeniable attraction leads her to realize that he's her twin flame, her love for all eternity, and this completely transforms her life. But danger lies ahead.
There are many problems with this novel: story holes, inaccuracies regarding Elizabethan life, and a heroine who is so bullheaded, obnoxious, superficial, and patronizing for the first hundred pages that it takes a mammoth act of will to like her. Add this to the fact that every event is predictable, and you'd seem to have a recipe for disaster.
However, O'Day Flannery's sincerity and warm heart eventually win the day as she brings all the threads together. This is a story that encourages and may even inspire readers to focus on what is really important in their lives and to appreciate their often forgotten blessings. Maggie learns to affirm all her experiences, to feel and celebrate the oneness and rightness of all things, by following her heart and living her truth. Surely this is an old lesson that we all need to hear again and again!
Also, the novel provides an intriguing introduction to the Celts and a solid suggestion that Shakespeare may not be the author of "his" works (for those who are not already familiar with the details of this old controversy). Add this to a final great love scene--in which it is pure energy rather than only physicality that unites the lovers--and you have a worthwhile and unusual novel which I can heartily recommend. 』
(A little preachy) 『When I first picked up this book, I thought "WOW! this story could be about me!" Having just had my own forty-something identity crisis I, too, went "joyriding" to Europe for a break from the difficulties in my life. That being said, after the first two chapters, the story became a little more fluffy and in parts I found it very preachy about belief systems. This author was recommended as a fine example of time travel but I have to say that the time travel element didn't work for me in this book. There was no purpose to the change in time and the transitioning between time periods seemed a little abrupt. Add to that the unlikely meeting with people that I suppose were reincarnated centuries later ... it didn't work for me. On another point - the twin flame idea was interesting although driven home a little too hard. I had to finish this book on a lunch hour at work (I was on the last chapter - epilogue) and someone interupted me which prevented me from finishing it. I never did finish it because I discovered that I didn't care how it ended from there. She could have left that chapter off entirely. In summary - is it a good read? Well it had some thought provoking writing, so I wouldn't say to take a pass on it. I got through it easily enough (until the ending) but I don't know that I would recommend it either.』
(too much soulmate stuff, not enough character development) 『Maggie, our heroine, is recently divorced, out of a job, and at a low point in her life. Her aunt Edithe invites her to England for a retreat. While there, she travels back in time to 16th century. She's mistaken for Lady Margarite, who is to marry Lord Ashford. But she find her soulmate in Nick, Ashford's enemy. Nick is there there at the request of Ashford's mother for the betrothal banquet. Or something like that. Nick has waited eons for Maggie.
In any case, the first 3rd of the book is on how miserable Maggie is in her present life and how she tries to convince the people in the 16th century she is not lady Margarite and is from the 20th century. She basically falls in love w/ Nick once they stared into each other's eyes.
There really wasn't much development of the either characters. The author didn't spend enough time describing the character, especially Nick. There are too much internal dialogue on how they loved each other. It was sweet, but a little too much. I would have liked to know how great Nick was as a poet and musician, his temperament, his status (knight? noble? you're never sure how important or un-important he was), etc』
(Once and Forever) 『It was written with her usual magical talent. The characters were great. I just had a very difficult time staying with this one written in the time period is was in..Anyone who enjoys the 16th century writings will love it. But I will continue to read all of her novels becuase she is a fantasic writer.. Hope to enoy her next on as much as I did "Heaven on earth"』
(A NEW FAN!) 『Being a person never willing to read, never mind buy a romance novel...on the suggestion of a friend I read this one, and became a fan of Ms O'Day...reading all her books..even taking the time to get out of print ones such as Sunsets and Seasons. She not only shares a joy of life and love in her books, but adds spirituality, stength and individuality to her characters, and allows us to 'soar' with them...in spirit {for those that can't in mind} Thanks for all your work Connie!』 『Something inexplicable has led Maggie Whitaker to the sixteenth century.Always a woman who has tried to do the right thing and live up to expectations, Maggie is beginning to learn the joy of following her own heart-even if it leads her across centuries. And especially since it has her crossing paths with Nicholas Layton, a dashing disinherited noble caught up in the dangerous intrigues of Elizabeth's royal court.
There is something about this enchanting, perplexing Margaret that leaves Nicholas breathless. Her voice is sweet music-though the words she speaks seem foreign to his ear. One kiss and he knows she is his true soulmate. But it is said the lady is betrothed to another-and it is Nicholas who must deliver her to her waiting groom. Yet no political plot or royal decree can forbid a love that is destined. And Maggie and her daring highborn lover are willing to incur the wrath of insidious foes to make certain that passion's flame, newly kindled, burns forever even if it takes centuries for their hearts to be truly one.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A Keeper!) 『I adore Debra Dier! This is one of my all time favorite romance novels. Sure, it's a bit sappy at times, but the romance aspect will certainly make you wish you had a man like "Connor" in your life. Laura's character left a bit to be desired, but for me, it didn't take too much away from the story itself. It's full of intrigue, drama, love, and even some humor thrown in for good measure. This title is no longer in print, so you'll have to search for a pre-read copy here on Amazon or in a used bookstore.』
(a wonderful touching funny book) 『I can't wait to read more from this author. I found this book to be warm, touching, funny, passionate and very enjoyable. I loved the secondary characters of Aunt Sophie and Daniel. I would have liked to read a bit more about them but maybe they will show up in future books. The other characters of Austin and Sarah made me want to read their story asap.
This is a time travel/fantasy romance. The hero, Connor is a sorcerer. He can do things that amaze and frighten some. He travels 1000 years into the future to the 1880s in Boston to meet the woman who has been in his dreams since childhood. Laura. Laura is a woman who is trying to be so very proper to help her father. She has had the same dreams of Connor since childhood but when he appears she has no idea what to do with him. He has her very rattled and she gets so very confused about her feelings towards him and doing what she thinks is the right thing.
There are also outside enemies trying to break these two apart and its exciting finding out whether or not they succeed. I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading others by this author.』
(Great story, great hero, shame about the heroine) 『This book did not live up to my expectations. Connor was wonderful, a man to die for, but Laura is a great disapointment until the end. If this book had been set in the present day instead of Victorian Boston I think Laura's character could have been changed for the better.
She would not have acted the way most victorian ladies did. She would have had a mind of her own and been able to follow the dictates of her heart. The book does pick up even Laura when she accepts its Connor she wants and not that cold fish Philip. She does leave it a little late to tell Philip she won't marry him. At least she came to her senses in time virtually leaving Philip standing at the alter.
The other characters in the book were wonderful, especially Aunt Sophie, for a middle-aged victorian spinster she had a lot more go in her.
I have just found out that Austin and Sarah have already had a book written about them. Unfortunately I did not know this until I finished reading this book. I would have liked to read their story first.
I don't think that bringing someone from the past to the 19th century works as well as if you bring them forward to the present day.』
(wonderful concepts, dreary female) 『The story was full of fantastic ideas, and Connor was all that could be desired, but Laura almost ruined the story for me. She's so repressed and afraid, I found her very irritating. Most of the other characters were great, however.』
(WOW!) 『I just finished reading "The Sorcerer's Lady" and All I can say is that I am impressed. It had all I could ever want in a romance....magic, time travel, happy endings, wonderful characters, evil villiens, beautiful love making, sequels, and most important the belief that love conquers all.』 『An ancient Viking sorcerer searches Victorian Boston for his one true love in this time-travel romance from the author of "Devil's Honor" and "Shadow of the Storm".』

Deception and danger threaten to destroy Katherine and Derrick as they strive to fulfill their destinies.
Katherine Shaw, a successful architect in the states, leaves her career to pursue her passion for antiquity at the London Museum for Art and Archeology. Here she finds herself drawn to a coffin-like box excavated from the depths of the English Channel. Unbeknownst to her the box is the key to her future.
The magic, legends, and myths woven into this story get a little complicated at times but are still remarkable. As Angela Steed pulls the reader into the mystical intrigue, the ever-encroaching darkness of evil speeds up the heart rate. I found myself reading fast trying to help Katherine and Derrick escape what seemed to be sure death for them.
The secondary characters: Ian; Ezra; Mila, the siren; Koran; and Gunther, the troll are unforgettable participants in Katherine and Derrick's struggles to find a way to keep the "glorious rapture" of their love and still fulfill their destinies.
THE SEA'S EMBRACE, an epic journey, is filled with subtle details of so many magical events found in legends and myths of old, but most of all it vibrates with the hero and heroine's love for each other. Their tender, spellbinding lovemaking and their determination to protect one another from danger reveals a love that tanscends time.
The twists and turns of the plot keeps the reader on pins and needles wondering how Katherine and Derrick can ever find their happy-ever-after.
A big thank you to Angela Steed for a terrific vicarious experience in the world of the paranormal.

(Enchanting Adventure.) 『It was hard to step away from reading this book. The adventure and the bond with all the characters kept me wondering, What is next? I have read 3 of Angela Steed's novels and this one was the kicker.
This story is more than the typical "canned" romance novel, this one has history and myth. Made me wonder if these things could be true; Greek Gods, maidens and folk-lore, I was sure wishing it were true after reading.
If you are looking to read a romance novel with action packed adventure, romance and fun this book is for you. 』
(An epic tale of legend and magic) 『I was fascinated by the way Angela Steed wove her own creations of legend and lore into the ancient tales of the lost city of Atlantis. I'm a sucker for that sort of thing anyway, lost cities and ancient civilizations, so this book was enthralling from the very beginning. Her characters are so believable, so enigmatic, in the same way they were in her debut novel 1080 Kiss. I like the way it kept an on going looking at both world. And the ending was just great. I loved this book very much.. And would reccomend it to anynbe who already enjoys her book. By all means add this one to your library..』
(Loose ends) 『I have bought and shared all of Constance's books and I believe in metaphysical theories, but this book was wierd. I liked the addition of parallel worlds, but it was done in a way that didn't make any sense and at the end of the book there were loose ends that never got answered. I kept wishing I could re-write the plot. Needless to say, I won't be passing this book on to anybody.』
(Breathtaking realism that grabs you from the start.) 『As a recent newcomer to the time-travel genre, I have read nearly all of Contance O'Day-Flannery's work, and have loved every one. This particular book pulled on my Irish roots and drew on so many simularities of my own family it was difficult not to enjoy it. If you are a recent time traveler read this book. If you're not... read this book! I could hardly put this down. Constance works wonders with her characters, they become part of you. Enjoy, I know I did.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Average time-travel romance) 『From the back cover:
The man from the heavens...
Accidentally thrust back to the eighth century by a computer genius's time-travel program, Mike Bailey fell from the sky and landed near Charlemagne's camp. Knocked senseless by the crash, he couldn't remember his name, address, or occupation, but no shock could make his body forget how to respond when he awoke to the sight of an enchanting...
Angel on earth...
Headstrong and innocent, Danise was already eighteen and almost considered an old maid by the Frankish nobles who courted her. Yet the stubborn beauty chose to risk spending her life cloistered in a nunnery rather than marry for any reason besides love. Unexpectedly mesmerized by the stranger she discovered unconscious in the forest, Danise was quickly roused by an all-consuming passion--and a desire that would conquer time itself.
And my review:
This book was just okay. Not outstanding, and not terrible, either.
One thing I found interesting was that in this story, the man was the one to travel back in time. It seems that in 99% of time-travel romances, it's the heroine who does the time-travelling. Also, this author's use of the Charlemagne period (779 A.D.) was also unique, as I had never before read a story set in this period before.
The drawbacks were that this novel read more like a political history lesson that a romance novel. It was obviously well-researched, but sometimes I felt overwhelmed by the historical detail. I didn't feel that it wove seemlessly into the story.
Also, I felt that the romance aspect of this was sacrificed for the political struggle part of it. The romance was starting to develop nicely when the hero and heroine are seperated for a time. After that, they fall into bed together. I was left feeling a little bit cheated by this. I kind of felt that the heroine gave it away too easily, considering the time period, and especially considering that she'd just narrowly escaped from being gang-raped.
All in all, this book was okay. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't one I'd highly recommend, either.』
(Not as great as the first book - 3.5 stars) 『In this sequel to A TIME TO LOVE AGAIN, we get to see what happened with Danise who was a good friend of India Baldwin. It picks up from when Hank, the computer-geek obsessed with time travel, escapes with India's files and laptop. Hoping to stop Hank from recreating India's adventures in the eighth century and possibly changing the course of history, she enlists the help of archaeologist Mike Bailey. Unfortunately, the confrontation doesn't go according to plan and before he knew it, Michael is accidentally thrust back in time, right in the arms of Danise and with no memory whatsoever.
While out walking in the forest, Danise stumbles upon the unconscious stranger but instead of fear, she feels drawn to him, wanting to know more about the man with his strange clothes. And as she nurses him back to health, at the same time trying to help him regain his memory, both fight the intense attraction they feel for each other. For Danise, it is the fear that Michel (the adopted name of Mike) might in fact be married and she also feels guilty that she's betraying Hugo (the knight she fell in love with in the first book and who died the year before) whom she vowed to love for eternity. For Michel, it is his respect for Danise's father that stops him from pursuing her, not to mention that he doesn't have anything to offer her. And so both try to deny their growing feelings for each other, until Michel suddenly recovers his memory. Thinking that Hank wouldn't bring him back in order to eliminate the only witness he has, Michel accepts his life in 779AD and vows to live the life of a Frankish warrior hoping he will gain the wealth and respect he needs in order to pursue Danise.
A LOVE BEYOND TIME features some of the characters in the first book, with a few additions to complicate the storyline. Danise and Michel meet a year after she loses her beloved Hugo in the Battle of Roncevaux, and we see her still bearing her heartbreak over his death. While both main characters are likable, I found that the story lacked the spark and emotions that made me like the first book. I found some parts were unnecessarily stretched and so I skipped a lot of pages. I also didn't feel the depth of love between Michel and Danise, compared with Theo and India.
Having read "A Time to Love Again", I guess I had high expectations from this book, which is what makes me a bit critical. But even though this isn't as captivating as its predecessor, this is still quite an enjoyable read so long as you don't expect too much. Also if you have read the first book, don't expect to find an update on India and Theo's relationship, as their part in this is very little.』
(a good book) 『I enjoyed reading this book and was delighted to find out its a sequel. I'll go back and read the first book just as soon as I can order it. This is a time travel book that has the hero traveling back in time to the time of Charlemagne. The hero is a modern day man who is trying to stop a scientist from sending people back in time. Mike accidentaly falls into the machine and ends up inn the 8th century and has no idea who he is or where he is. He is found by the beautiful young, by modern standards, Danise. She nurses him back to health and they fall for each other. But even though they have fallen in love they have serveral obsticals to overcome before they can be together. Enemies in both time periods try and rip them from each other.
This book has very tender love scenes and an interesting plot. I enjoyed this book quite a bit and I would highly recommend it.』
