Maggie Owen's work on a grant to find a lost necropolis is filled with the superstitions of the local workers. Nothing, however, prepares her for being swept back into the past to the time of Pharaoh Akhenaton. Maggie will have to learn to deal with the Egyptian political intrigues while falling in love with Ramose Nakh-Min, one of Queen Nefertiti's relatives. Will the same power that sent Maggie back to Ramose allow her to stay with him forever?
I have to confess that I was more than thrilled to see Kathryn Meyer Griffith had another story out about Egypt. Years ago, I remember reading another book by her that featured Egyptian characters (although somewhere along the way I've lost my copy of that book) and still remember being impressed by it. I was not disappointed with EGYPTIAN HEART.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith shines when writing stories such as EGYPTIAN HEART. Her gift at incorporating historical facts about the Egyptian pharaohs and the politics surrounding them is simply incredible. The vivid descriptions of the Egyptian desert and the household of Ramose are so real that it is easy to envision them.
Maggie is the kind of heroine that makes the reader just want to cheer. Even in an environment like ancient Egypt, she is fighting against the injustices she sees and trying to incorporate positive changes. Her upbeat attitude is refreshing.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith is an author who has stood the test of time. Her books today are just as strong as her past efforts. Without a doubt, she is an autobuy author for me as her books remain treasured keepers. EGYPTIAN HEART is easily recommended!
COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES Maggie Owen's a beautiful, spirited Egyptologist.but lonely. Even a trip to Egypt on a grant to search for a necropolis beyond the Gizah pyramids doesn't make her happy. Love is missing. Then she uncovers Ramose Nakh-Min's tomb and an amulet from his sarcophagus hurls her back to 1340 B.C.-where she falls for Ramose, who serves Pharaoh Akhenaton, and who she's destined to love. Maggie's mistaken for a runaway slave and stands out with her fair coloring and jinn green eyes. Some say she's magical. Evil. Some try to kill her. She's fallen into perilous times. The people, angry that Pharaoh Akhenaton set Queen Nefertiti aside and forced them to worship Aton, instead of many gods, rise up against him. And Maggie's caught in the middle of it. Desperately in love with Ramose, she finds a way to remain with him-and to make a difference in his world. Maggie has finally found love.

customer 's review (Nothing Special)
(2.5 stars) I'm a big fan of anything having to do with time travel -- have just always been facinated by it -- and I typically enjoy how it can be incorporated into stories. However, this book left a lot to be desired. The writing was choppy, the dialogue was often cheesy, and although the concept was interesting (having to travel back to ancient Pompeii to correct a wrong to save the future) it just never got all that interesting. When a ghost of ancient Pompei is given the chance, he takes it to inhabit the body of a time travelling scientist, complicating an already taut situation. Rick has re-entered Mackenzie Cates' life and their passion has been reborn, but since neither is into menage a' trois, they need to get rid of the two thousand year old ghost living inside him, reunite said ghost and his doomed love in the far flung past, and save the world.
With more of a backstory explaining the how this time travel scenario functions, the main plot probably would have worked better. Being thrown into the middle of what felt like an established scenario felt a bit off, detracting from an otherwise intriguingly complex situation. Rerations < Time Rogues (Timeswept) >

customer 's review (Started out good but then became boring.) I liked the start of this book. The idea of the "Forever Bride" story is very beautiful and heart warming. I thought the plot of this story that the modern woman, Meagan, goes to Scotland to get married in an old church where the "Forever Bride" tale is said to have taken place, was unique. There she is suddenly flung back in time and ends up marrying, not her modern day fiance, but Robert Cameron, the Laird of Thistledown Castle. Robert has never met his bride to be so is shocked to see that she is not as young as he thought her to be, nor as innocent. He can't deny that he is attracted to her and tries to convince her that she is just as attracted to him. He soon realizes that she is not his real bride and together they set out to find the missing bride. The story is very good for a while and really held my interest but then it started to drag. I put this book down several times and it took days to finish it. I think the ideas of the book were good but not really brought to life. The characters were a bit lacking also. I wish this had been a better book. Loving a romantic Scottish fairy tale so much that she insists upon getting married in Scotland, Meagan Butler is transported back in time and finds herself re-creating the events of the story of her dreams. Via a freak gathering of storm clouds, she's struck by lightning and thrust into 1883,where she partially witnesses a murder, hides away in a secret room in a Victorian ranch house, and is later pursued by the then new owner of the ranch, gambler Eli Tucker, who believes she is an apparition. customer 's review (three torrid time travel romances) "Those Were the Days" by Julie Kenner. As a child Sylvia Preston was abused so as an adult avoids relationships. When she looks at a painting at a "sex" exhibit in San Francisco, Sylvia is transported to a 1923 gala where she meets Tucker Green, who wants her, but learns he must earn her trust.
"Pistols at Dawn" by Nancy Warren. In Paris, Natalie Bowman and Andrew Greenwood are in love and engaged to be married soon yet something is not right in their relationship as their priorities are off kilter. They will learn what really counts in life, but their lesson takes them back to 1857.
"Time After Time" by Jo Leigh. NYU graduate student Betty Kroger dissertation topic is The Social Impact of Sexual Mores During WW II; a perfect topic for her as she feels out of place as if she was born in the wrong time. However, when she is sent to 1945, Betty feels more at home feeling she will find her true love in this period especially after meeting dear John Stevens.
These three torrid time travel romances are fun tales connected by the modern day sex exhibit, strong protagonists, and solid story lines.

(star-crossed lovers . . .) I love this time travel expedition. While scuba diving,Kate Walker a New Jersey modern day woman is hurl back in time to 1868.She meet Shipping extrepreneur Michael Sheriden. The storyline was good. The hero and heroine had sparks, personaility. and battle of wills. A good read. You did it again Constance ODay Flannery. This was one of the first time travel tales I ever read. It is an excellent, humorous, fast-paced story that has a hot love story to boot. A great read. This is the first time travel book I have read. The storyline is great along with the characters. I would recommend this book for anyone who has a good imagination. Its amazing how you are tossed around in time when reading this book. This novel says enough about how great of a writer Constance O'day-Flannery is. A wonderful time-travel, romance. Humorous and enchanting. The heroine is thrown back in time while scuba diving off the coast of Bermuda. A wonderful use of legend and the period descriptions of post-civil war Charleston are charming. I loved how this series of books connected together and revolved around each other. Intriguing story line. Good read. Flannery weaves a spellbinding time-travel story of a daring woman who seeks adventure, only to find herself trapped in the past with a handsome seafarer. Love Spell
customer 's review (A miss...)
(A good book...but too jumpy) I've found that this author's stories are either jaw-droppingly good ("Tryst With an Angel", in Lovespell's 'Christmas Angels' anthology), or downright boring ("The Ghost of Christmas Past", in Lovespell's 'A Time-Travel Christmas' anthology).
This book was downright boring, in my opinion. I had to keep forcing my attention back to it, as it kept wandering. I kept waiting for it to "get started". This is supposed to be a romance novel, yet we don't even meet the hero for the first quarter of the book. If I'd wanted to read about a grieving woman learning to enjoy life again, I'd have bought a book of mainstream women's fiction. Is it unreasonable for me to expect ROMANCE in my romance novel?
Like another reviewer, I also found the 'revolving door' aspect of the time-travel to be annoying. Time travel is supposed to be something magical, and it isn't here. I've read lots of time-travel romance, and this one was not on par.
I will try other books by this author, as I know she is capable of writing something that I will love. But as for this book, I wouldn't recommend it. On Eugenia Riley's webpage, she has tips for suggestions on writing a time travel romance. I believe she should have listened to her own suggestions when developing a Tryst in Time.Over all, the book was very good. The development of the characters was very good, and very believable. Even the descriptions Ms. Riley did of the houses in both eras were very good, I could almost feel myself there. The novel begins when Sarah Jennings loses her brother during the Vietnam War. After a nervous breakdown, she inherits Belle Fontaine, a civil-war plantation, from an elderly family member she has never met. While meditating in the old crumbling manor house, she hears and sees a man from the past, Damien Fontaine. She gets transported back in time to shortly after the death of Damien's brother, Vincy, who was also killed in a war -- The Civil War. Still reeling from the death of his beloved brother, Damien has sheltered himself away from the world, trying to deal with his grief. The story is very interesting (I read this book in one day). The progression of Sarah and Damien's relationship is very fast, but very HOT. The love scenes leave you squirming in your seat, and the dynamic relationship between the two characters is very touching and most times leave you wishing you could travel back in time to meet Damien yourself. The complaint I DO have about A Tryst in Time is the believability of the time travel itself. Traveling in time once is one thing. Maybe even traveling back once, getting thrown forward and maybe finding your way back is another. But in this book, Sarah travels back forth so often you must think there is some kind of spiritual revolving door. One of the aspects of time travel romances that most people love is that this is a freaky thing that doesn't happen every day, for some of Eugenia's characters, it is as normal as brushing your teeth. If you have read Eugenia Riley's Phantom in Time, the constant time traveling back in forth is just about the same in A Tryst in Time. That is the most distracting thing about this novel. Just when you're getting into the groove of Sarah and Damien, she jumps back to the future for a few days, then jumps back in the past. *grrr* If you can get past the annoying revolving time travel part in the book, you will greatly enjoy yourself reading this novel. If you love a classic love story about true love lasting forever, this book is definitely worth a read. ... Grieving over the death of her soldier brother in Vietnam, Sarah Jennings seeks comfort in her family's crumbling Southern plantation and is transported back to the time of the Civil War, where she meets the battle-weary Damien. customer 's review (absolutely beautiful)
(The best so far!)
(Great book) I read this book several years ago when I was in high school, back when I started reading romance novels. At that time, after reading a novel, I would just sell them to a used bookstore. However, today after I have enjoyed reading a novel, I actually keep them and believe that someday I will re-read them again. Thus, I regret that I sold this book several years ago when I was in high school.
After discovering and reading SSSSOOOO many historical romances, this is still one of the best that I have read out there. It's about a female fire fighter who goes back more than a hundred years ago and meets a fireman (all fire fighters were male back then) and about the huge San Francisco earthquake in 1906. This story is so romantic and beautiful. I really wish I still had it because it's so hard to find. But it's worth the find and if you do find it don't let it go because then it'll be even more hard to find it!!!! This is the best novel I've read so far from this talented author. Time travel stories are tricky to handle, but Ms. Hallam does it as well as any writer I've found. You have to read carefully, though, because she sprinkles little details throughout her books that turn out to be very important later on. It takes a really skilled writer to do this. I love her work and love this story of old San Francisco. It may be difficult to find (it was for me!), but it's worth the search. This is a great book. I like the firefighting perspective of it and I thought it was a great book. Buy it now. When firefighter Annabel Lowell's duties catapult her from San Francisco 2000 back to 1906, she faces one of the worst earthquakes in history. But she also finds the passion of a lifetime in fellow fireman Cole Brady. Now she must choose between a future of certain danger--and a present of certain love--no matter how short lived it may be...
