(I think this one would make a great movie!)
Tracy Crudup's new book was just excellent. What a grand story and what a poetic charm she has in her descriptions. I got it in the mail yesterday and started reading it. I couldn't put it down until I was done with it at 12:30. This one will probably be her best one.

I can't remember when I have enjoyed a book so much. I absolutely could not put it down until I had read it all. I want to find a man like Garrett...lol Her writing is just excellent and I find it hard to believe that she will ever top this one. I think this one would make a great movie!

Giving away her heart came with a price. Giving away her soul led her throughThe Mist of Mineral Springs.A charming, Southern tale of a woman who captivates the heart of a man, and embarks upon a timeless romance that transcends the barrier between life and death.

Looking through The Mist, she learns to love. Standing in The Mist, she learns to laugh, but walking away from The Mist, means she would no longer dance with the ghost to whom she gave her soul. It was somewhere out there, somewhere inThe Mist of Mineral Springs.

(A Truly Wonderful Time Travel Tale!)

(a wonderful story!)

(This book deserves 10 Stars!)

(Wonderful!)
What an enjoyable book! I usually breeze through books fairly quickly, but seemed to take my time enjoying this one. The characters, Faith and Miles, were easy to love. The relationship that developed between Faith, a British agent from the present and Miles, an Irish rebel, was so natural that it seemed like I knew them as actual people! Moffett did a great job developing their personalities, as well as their interactions between each other.

I highly recommend this book if you are a time travel fan, as well as appreciate well-developed characters. This is a keeper! :-)
Ok get your tissue out for this one. I love time travel stories and Julie Moffett has created a wonderful one here. This is the first of two books the second being"Across a Moonswept Moon" which I read by accident first. I loved it also. This book is the story of Faith, a modern woman who works for British Intelligence and is sent on a mission to Ireland. She is positioned in a famous Druid circle of stones. There she meets up with the terrorist she was seeking and a struggle ensues. Somehow they are both sent through time to Ireland in the year 1648. The terrorist runs off and she is found by the handsome Miles O'Bruaidar, who is also known as the Irish Lion, a man who has been causing havok to the British who are invading. She at first doesn't realize she is in the past and when it finally hits her she fears revealing it to Miles, although she trusts him with her life. Together they must over come her fears, The hated British, the traitors to the Irish and many more to stay together. This story made me cry and laugh and I would highly recommend it.
This book is incredible...could not put it down... from the very beginning Julie Moffett builds solid characters that you can relate to and want to believe in... Not only was this book romantic but it was loaded with adventure! Faith Worthington is an agent sent to Ireland to expose an Irish terrorist... She has prepared herself mentally and physically for her mission...unbeknownst to her that her mission would also take her across time and into the arms of an amazing Irishman! Julie Moffett builds a male lead that you want to believe in and takes your breath away just in his presentation alone... I truly had a hard time putting this book down because there was always another twist or turn...whether it be in Faith's self preservation of her life or her heart... I 100% recommend this book, you will not regret it! Please keep writing more books Julie Moffett... I can't wait to see what new adventures you've put together...
I only have 20 pages left to read, but I had to let people know my opinion of the book. This book was wonderful. I could not put it down and hate the fact that I am so close to the end, but have to work! I think the author did a wonderful job, especially with creating the feelings of Faith in finding out she had been transported back in time and also of Miles' feelings when told she was from the future. The story has kept me on the edge of my seat, not wanting to sleep or eat because I would have to put it down. She did a wonderful job. This is definitely a keeper and I eagerly look forward to her next book.
Lovely British agent Faith Worthington is sent on a mission to expose a ruthless IRA terrorist. But a bullet to the thigh knocks her back to seventeenth-century Ireland . . . and into the arms of rebel leader Miles O'Bruaidar. Known as the Irish Lion, Miles immediately suspects the modern-day beauty of being a spy. He takes Faith as his hostage, only to discover her feminine wiles are incredibly alluring. But desperate to return to the future, Faith has no time for love mutton-feasting, ale-quaffing brute like Miles. Yet with each passing day her own time and staying with the charming rogue, Faith knows her heart has been pierced to the quick, but she wonders if their love will always be a double-edged blade.

(Romance was too rushed)
From the back cover:

The Seer...

Her wagon train stranded on the Spanish Trail, pioneer Abby Wynne searched the heavens for rain. Gifted with visionary powers, Abby sensed a man in another time gazing at the same night sky. But even she could not forsee that she would journey to the future and into the arms of her soul mate.

The Stargazer...

Widower Mike Danziger had escaped the L.A. lights for the Painted Desert, but nothing prepared him for a beauty as radiant as the doe-eyed woman he found. His intellect couldn't accept her incredible story, but her warm kiss eased the longing in his heart.

A Glimpse Of Forever...

Caught between two eras bridged only by their love, Mike and Abby fought to stay together, even as the past beckoned Abby back to save those trapped on the trail. Was their passsion a destiny written in the stars, or only a fleeting glimpse of paradise?

And my review:

The time-travel aspect of this book was quite well done. Since most time-travel stories involve a character going into the past (where they at least have an idea of how things work), this one was a story where the heroine travelled into the future. Unlike some writers who attempt time-travel romance, she had a compelling explanation as to how the heroine had travelled through time (something that is often annoyingly vague in other time-travel books).

The author did a good job of showing Abby's fascination with our time. Many time-travel books have a character travel through time and then just accept it as if such an occurance is no big deal. That wasn't the case here, much to my enjoyment. It also made me appreciate how much easier we have things now, like hot running water and electricity, as well as grocery stores, indoor plumbing, cars, antibiotics....well, the list goes on.

However, I felt that the romance aspect of this book was very rushed and weak. When it was in its earliest stages, just starting to develop, the time felt right for the hero and heroine to have their first kiss. Instead, they end up having sex. I felt so cheated by this. First of all, they barely knew each other (especially considering how standoffish the hero was) and secondly, the heroine was a proper woman from 1858! No way would a sheltered virgin from that era just spread her legs for a man who's practically a stranger with no hint of commitment. It was just too out of character.

After that, I lost interest in the story. There was a mystery plot, but I didn't care enough about it to bother finishing the book. I read romance for the love story, and this one was a big disappointment.

Glimpsing a mysterious man from another time, psychic pioneer Abby Wynne is swept away from her wagon train and spirited to twentieth-century Los Angeles, where she encounters widower Mike Danziger.

(LOVE THIS TIME TRAVEL EXPEDITION;)

(Average time-travel romance)

(wonderful sequel)

(Loved it!)

(Great time travel tale)
THREE CHEERS! Julie Moffett for Across a Moonlight Moor romance.
Fiona Chancellor is hurl back in time to Medieval Ireland. There she meet hot looking irish warrior Ian Maclaren.
The moment the two met it had been sparks, conflict and battles of wills.
Ah, but when the two kiss they melted as one in passion embraces.
A perfect love match they were.
The hero and heroine learn from each other and grew together by the end.
However I would have love for Fiona to had stay back in Ian's time.
I look forward to reading another medieval time travel romance from Julie Moffett simliar to this one.

From the back cover:

A love match...

An enchanted dagger bearing a mysteriously familiar inscription pointed Fiona Chancellor to Ireland in search of her missing cousin. Then a midnight visit to Celtic holy ground slid her into the seventeenth-century--and into the arms of the most gorgeous male she had ever seen. But after one clash with the stubborn man, Fiona longed only for her twentieth-century comforts.

Instead, she found herself pressed against Ian Maclaren, galloping across moonswept moors to escape death. The hot-blooded barbarian ordered her about as if she were a soldier. But his kisses left no doubt he thought of her as a woman, and soon she knew she would trade a thousand bubble baths for one of his passionate embraces. For although she had traveled across three centuries into the past, it had taken only a moment for her heart to recognize she had met her match.

And my review:

I absolutely love time-travel romances, so I've read a lot of them. I found this to be an average read. While this book was a sequel to "A Double-Edged Blade", this book worked just fine as a stand-alone. Still, those who enjoyed the first book will like that much of this story revolves around the main characters of that story.

The time-travel aspect of this story was interesting, and quite well-written. At first, it seemed as if Fiona accepted the fact that she'd travelled 300 years into the past a bit too easily, but the author would throw in enough "fish out of water" moments to keep it realistic. The characters were also quite well drawn, and the action was non-stop. This book was also quite well researched, and interesting, as not many books are set in Ireland during the time of Oliver Cromwell.

My only complaint with this book was that the romance part of it felt a little bit rushed. At first, it seemed to be progressing nicely, but then the author kind of ruined it by having the characters fall into bed so quickly. (They'd only known each other for a few days). I know that Fiona is a modern woman, and therefore not subject to the rigid standards of the day, but still, I kind of felt cheated. It was like the romance was just starting to blossom, and then the author decided to take a short-cut and throw them into bed together, where, of course, they realize that this must be love.

Also, the ended felt a little bit rushed, as if the author had gotten past the exciting part of the story and just wanted to wrap things up.

Still, I've read far worse time-travel novels than this one. While I wouldn't give this a glowing recommendation, this was still an enjoyable quick read, and I would probably give other books by this author a try.

This is the sequel to the book" A Double-Edged Blade" which was the story of Miles and Faith. Well they appear in this book too so you get to find out what happened to them. This is Fiona's story. She is Faith's cousin back in modern England aand after a year of not knowing where Faith has gone to she decides to do a bit of investigating on her oen. She goes to Ireland where her cousin disapeared and finds herself at the same Druid circle of stones that Faith was at. The time portal opens again and she finds her self propelled back in time to the Ireland of 1649. There she meets up with Miles's friend a Scot with an attitude, named Ian. Together they must help Miles and Faith and along the way they fall for each other. Some of the supporting characters from the first book make an appearance here and it makes for a very enjoyable read. I also enjoyed the different ending it had. I would recommend this book and the first one to anyone who enjoys time travel books.
All the right elements in a romance, but I wish the ending had given them EVERYTHING they wanted. Still, it was excellent. :D
In 1997, the trail Fiona Chanceller has followed in search of her missing cousin Faith Worthington takes her to County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. The experts told her that the dagger she holds that Faith once possessed comes from that region. She quickly learns from an antique shop owner, Seamus Gogarty that the OBruiader dagger is indeed from the area. He also informs her that the dagger, which has not been seen in centuries at least in this vicinity, has a legend involving Fey people, and an enchantment allegedly activated by mystic stone circles like that of nearby Beaghmore.

Fionas search takes a twist when she soon finds herself in mid-seventeenth century Ireland where she learns that Faith is happy with her soul mate, who is a prisoner of the Roundheads. As Fiona tries to help free Miles OBruiader, she falls in love with his best friend Ian Maclaren, but can she give up the conveniences of late twentieth century life as her friend has?

ACROSS A MOONSWEPT MOOR is an exciting time travel romance. The engaging story line works because the heroine struggles with her adjustment to a less technological area and clearly misses the conveniences she is used to having. The return of Faith and Miles (stars of A DOUBLE EDGED BLADE) augments this story as their fate impacts on that of Fiona and Ian. This cleverly crafted tale that uses historical tidbits to describe the setting belongs to the lead couple, especially thecake and eat it heroine who wants her hunk and her twentieth century devices too.

(WOMAN, GODDESS, OR JUST PLAIN PERVERSE)

(Go back to a romantic, mystical Eyreland as a goddess.)
BRIDGET CHRISTINE CONNOLLY IS SWEPT BACK TO 400 A.D. EIRE LAND. SHE IS SAVED AND THEN WORSHIPPED AS A GODDESS BY AILIN. WHEN HE PERSUES HER SHE SAYS NO, WHEN HE BACKS AWAY, SHE PERSUES. SHE IS PERVERSE IN THE EXTREME. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE AUTHOR IS THAT GREAT. I READ ANOTHER OF HER BOOKS BEFORE THIS ONE AND THE HEROINE IS ALSO PERVERSE. SHE PITS TWO MALES AGAINST ONE ANOTHER AND IS NEVER SATISFIED UNTIL ONE IS KILLED AND HIS DEATH CAN BE TOTALLY PUT UPON HER.

I SHALL NOT WASTE ANYMORE TIME OR MONEY READING THIS AUTHOR AND PERHAPS THIS WILL CONVINCE YOU NOT TO WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY EITHER. JUST TRYING TO DO YOU A FAVOR.

A masterpiece! A finely crafted piece of fantasy and romance, Lady of Fire will kindle even the soggiest of hearts. Imagine yourself as the broken-hearted Christine wandering through the bleary fog of abandonment only to find you've been transported to another time and place with the aid of a lovely torque. Crafted by love, devotion, and fiery passion, you want never to remove it. And awaiting you is Ailin, a fierce and virile man of incomparable beauty whose sole purpose is to love, worship, and protect you- how FABULOUS! From the lush, grass-covered valleys to the mist-shrouded peaks, you find yourself on an adventure of colorful landscapes in mystical places. It's as though you yourself have been transported through time and space. Janeen O'Kerry's beautiful and detailed descriptions bring delightful and vivid images bring to mind an Eyreland which no modern day man has the good fortune to experience. O'Kerry is a magnificent writer whose talent is so immense she crosses all genres. A must read
Dumped by her boyfriend of six years, Christine Connolly unknowingly purchases a magical necklace and is transported back in time to ancient Ireland, where she is hailed as a goddess by an adoring Celtic warrior.

customer 's review
(Not terrible, but not great)

(Err..)

(I feel I must review this better than the others....)

(Ech... Average romance, Immature characters.....)

(Very difficult to get in the mood.)
I agree with one of the other reviewers - this books is not that bad.

The main sticking point with other reviewers seems to be Ian's "bigamy" or "cheating on his pregnant wife" so call me a scandalous hussy, but I didn't find that offputting in the slightest. It's a ROMANCE NOVEL - of course the baby his "wife" was carrying wasn't his.

However, I found it pretty hard to warm to Ian - and those long fingernails were quite the turn off. He was very childish and immature at the beginning of the book, and while he did become a better man, I just couldn't see what it was that made Shannon, our heroine, fall in love with him other than the fact he reminded he of a man she knew in her own time.

Shannon herself was a fairly sad and depressing character - and something of a spoilt brat "I miss my life as a rich girl" and that got old relatively quickly.

However, the author obviously has an interest in Ireland/Erie and has done a lot of research about life in old Ireland. One minor sticking point (and this involves a spoiler) when Shannon and Ian go back to her time at the end of the book there is no mention of Shannon needing to teach him english, especially as such a big deal was made of her speaking Gaelic in Eire.

In any case, the book was okay - but nothing special.

I`m sorry i really didn`t like this book at all. it was boring and i coudn`t stand the way ' Lasarian/Ian' acted or how Shannon was acting like such an airhead. give me a break. i don`t really reccomend this book but if you have nothing better to do then hey whatever floats your boat.
I believe that the other reviewers did not finish the book. THe plot isn't so bad afterall. I will admit Shannon is an airhead when it comes to certain things in the book, but wouldn't you be too if you were sent back into ancient Eire? First off, she has an affair with a married man but the others do not elaborate when it comes to the type of relationship Ian had with her. Her child wasn't hs, it was from a previous marriage and they had an arranged marriage forced on Ian to protet her from other tribes that she was from. Her previous husband was killed and she was "unwanted" since she was preggers. Ian was lazy but grew into being a real man towards the end. It is kinda fantasy/sci-fi with the whole time travel thing.
Heroine Shannon Rose is a 'good girl' college kid, with no friends, no life, and no family ties - in essence a cardboard character. When a college acquaintance enlists her help in researching the 'maypole' for the renaissance faire committee, she reluctantly agrees, little realizing that the research will trigger a series of events which will send her back in time to ancient Ireland.

Enter the hero Ian. Ian, an aspiring bard is an appallingly lazy man obsessed with womanizing and avoiding his responsibilities. Fed up with his laziness, his father punishes him by sentencing him to herd cattle for one year. Yes. You read it right folks. Herd cattle(!) As if this were not bad enough, he is also forced to marry a widow named Clodagh.

Enter Shannon, who has now succeeded in time traveling back to Ireland. Found by Ian, she is brought back to the fort on the night of Beltane, and forced to marry him as his `Beltane Wife,' before Ian begins his yearlong sentence as a cowherd. They frolic in the hills for a while, before Shannon learns the truth... That Ian is already married to Clodagh. Can their love survive the test of time?

I really didn't like this book. I thought Ian was a miserable immature user who never seemed to grow up. I never found him particularly romantic or, desirable. Shannon was a typical romance heroine, with no real personality and no backbone. Some of the descriptions were well written, however many of the characters talked and acted like modern people, despite being set in ancient Ireland. The husband's bigamy was a real turn off for me and poorly handled. Overall... I cannot really recommend this novel. It was disappointing on too many levels
This book falls way short of a romance novel. I ordinarily love the time travel to a romantic land and a handsome Celt storyline. This story made it difficult to get into the mood, when the heroine of the book is in essence having an affair with a married man about to become a father. The actual time passage scenairo was very vague and loosely written, and I don't know about you, but when I am fantacizing about a gorgeous hunk of a man, I wan't him AVAILABLE, not in essence, cheating on his pregnant wife.(No matter what the customs of Beltane dictate.) Definately a turn off. The end does not justify the means in this story.
Born into a family of wealth and power, Shannon has to reinvent herself when her father's business collapses. Planning to relocate to the home of her forbearers in Ireland after college, Shannon immerses herself in her studies. When an old book reveals a mysterious scrap of vellum with musical notes and her name, she finds herself whistling a different tune in a different time--a time of mists and warriors, Druids and legends, and a handsome Irish outcast named Lasairian.

(cute book)

(Walking On The Moon)
This book reminds me of cross between a Doris Day/Rock Hudson romp and McHale's Navy. It is cute and somewhat amusing but a little short of "science" in the science fiction category. It is more of a fantasy book.
Our heroine gets kidnapped by a bunch of drunken space sailors (actually miners) from the future because she can cook and they haven't had a decent meal in a long time. Problems insue. There is an interesting plot twist that becomes apparent about half way thru the book.
All in all, it is an easy read that I wouldn't buy in hardback, but is OK for paperback.

Shift Officer Denys Duchamp of the mining ship Hatton was bored and hungry - hungry not only for decent-tasting food, but also for some female companionship. Unfortunately, this was not like other missions, where the crew could just land on a planet and take some R&R. This was a super-secret mission into the past that was being guided by The Book. In order to save their worlds in the present, they had to go to the past and mine a deposit of a rare ore only found on Phobos, one of the moons of Mars. And they definitely couldn't let anyone from 21st century Earth know of their presence in their time. It was quite a problem, then, that six of the men under Duchamp's command, accidentally - sort of - kidnapped an American tourist and brought her back to the ship. What was Mr. Duchamp going to do with Claudia Cameron, TV chef and caterer, and how was he going to keep the dreaded Captain Andrews from pushing her out of the airlock to protect their mission?

I think Sizemore is one of the best writers in the time travel genre, and I have always enjoyed her books. This one is no exception! Most of the time travel novels that I have read deal with a modern hero or heroine transporting from the 21st century to the Middle Ages or earlier. That's why this one involving a spaceship and crew coming from our future to the 21st century struck me as unusual. The characters are very realistically drawn, with a great sense of humor. Duchamp is a likeable, earnest officer desperately trying to do the right thing. Claudia Cameron is a strong, smart woman who keeps Duchamp on his toes. Even the secondary characters have distinct personalities. I particularly liked the six crew members reporting to Duchamp, who would give the Keystone Kops a run for their money as the comic relief. While this novel is sensual, and includes somewhat explicit love scenes, it is primarily a science fiction novel with romantic elements. Sizemore skillfully combines the genres into a seamless whole, resulting in a book that I just couldn't put down!-- Jean, Fallen Angel Reviews (courtesy of Fallen Angel Reviews)

Mix a ship full of men from the future orbiting present-day Earth, a woman who's never been afraid to act on her dreams, a mining engineer who discovers how he must "go by the book", and a pot full of chili, and you have the ingredients for a witty and fun futuristic romance!

(Beautiful story of soul mates)

(George, Asheville NC)

(Book from the Heart)

(believe in your dreams)

(Excellent reading, beautiful love story.)
An autographed copy of this book practically fell into my hands in an Asheville bookstore (Malaprops) shortly after I had started studying Celtic spirituality, so I had to read it. Since I hadn't heard of the author, I was a bit skeptical. Dana Lyons is a gifted storyteller that managed to keep me spellbound until I finished the book.
Heart of the Druae transcends space and time and reaches for what is best in all of us. To simply classify it as a "romance novel" is to miss the profound message woven trough the fabric of the book. Our modern lives have many conveniences and benefits but the price we have paid is our disconnection to the universe and our fellow travelers. Dana Lyons shows that there is an inner light that shines within each of us and needs to be shared with the world. I bought this book and read it the same day. I cried at the end but not for the story but for the fact that it had come to the end and I desperately wanted it to go on forever. My only warning: if you decide to get this book do not to have anything planned for the evening you receive it because those plans will be cancelled.
Heart of the Druae was a book that spoke from the heart. I could not put it down once I started to read it. The Author caputered the true meaning of what it is to love so much that you were willing to sacrafice your heart for the good of the person you love. I can not wait to read more from this Author and see where she takes me next.
If you know and live The Secret, this book is for you. The writer takes you to a place that we all know we should be. I could not put the book down because I was captured by the characters their passion, and commitment. You will laugh and cry (enjoy).

(A virginal hero??)

(Don't read if you haven't read this book.)

(Wow!!!!! Brilliant Darian is to die for.)

(Old West Time Travel)

(The sexiest virgin hero ever!)
I have to admit that I liked this book a little. It was humorous and fun to read, but the fact that the hero was a virgin was just plain blah. Not only a virgin, but shy, a man that blushes is not a man I want to read about in a historical romance. However, I'll give a three because the story was fun, and I love all time travel romances. Just wish the man would have been a REAL desparado.
I read this book having not read the first. If you haven't read Free-falling, don't panic. The author did a good job and what was going on.

Darian's use of big words made me think he was reciting Shakespeare or something. After awhile it got annoying and was overdone. Made me think more than once if I was reading a book based in the old west or about some royalty back in the 1600's. Emily was immature and the humor was a little dry. Darian and Emily fell in love way to quickly. But I guess that's romances for you.

One question I have is about the evidence against Davis. If Bonner and Clyde knew that getting Darian off the hook was in the bank all along, why didn't they say so before Darian was arrested? If they would've done it a long time ago then Darian's name would've been cleared. But hey. It's a book. You got to have drama. Well, especially a romance book.

The author should've read a few western books. The setting did not have the western characteristics. Including some of the characters. The townspeople fear Darian and his gang? Huh! What's to fear? If you want to read about real outlaws then read a western. Yeah they were considered outlaws. But dangerous? Where people run in fear because Darian showed up in their town? Please.

The part from where Darian is betrayed to the time he reunites with Emily was very well done. I could not put the book down!

The ending was a little farfetched. And I'm not so sure I even understand it now. I'm not sure I even care.

Would I read another book by this author? Probably. As long it doesn't have to deal with a western type setting.
After reading Free Falling I couldn't wait to lay my hands on this sequel to it&I wasn't disapointed. It is brilliant. Darian is to die for. My one disapointment is as far as I can tell there will be no other books in this series. I just didn't want it to end. Please Stobie write some more.
If you like to read about the old West, and don't mind not getting much in the way of living day-to-day details, this one is for you.

The "mechanics" of the time-travel is a mysterious whirlwind Emily jumps into out of a plane. She volunteers for this after overhearing a man and his wife talk about a civil war officer they "know" who ends up hanged. Emily is intrigued by their conversation, and finds out they aren't crazy-they really do know this man who lived over 100 years ago. So, she accepts their challenge to go back in time to stop his hanging.

When she arrives, the state of her attire is cause for some interesting reactions from the men she runs into, but I found it hard to believe the people weren't more scandalized by her T-shirt and shorts!

Emily is portrayed as slightly ditsy in the beginning-but with an attitude. Later, she develops into a more thoughtful woman as she is faced with the challenge of how to save Darian from hanging. Darian is portrayed as a blushing, yet take-charge guy that likes to speak well. I never got the warm fuzzies over his physical description, although he gets points in the bedroom from Emily.

I especially liked the ending. Throughout the book, you get the feeling that Darian is a pre-incarnate of Emily's first husband. You're never quite sure until the end, though. Makes an interesting plot twist.

I liked the book, and don't regret buying it; but is it just me, or was there a pre-quel that developed characters introduced early in the story?
Emily Morgan goes back in time to try to warn a Civil War hero to change his course to avoid being hung as a criminal. Of course, Darian Woodward's sense of honor would never allow him to abandon his mission to clear his name, and for some reason, Darian just seems to get himself deeper and deeper in trouble.

But he can't avoid his feelings for the woman of the future who refuses to wear decent clothing. And although she knows the future is uncertain, Emily can't resist the allure of the most honorable man she has ever met...especially since he's the spittin' image of her former husband!

This is an engrossing story with memorable characters and an unusual plot. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that I thought the ending was a bit too pat to be believable...although I'm not sure that time travel romances are meant to be realistic....!
Darian Woodward had been a hero in the War Between the States, but somewhere hed been blown off course. Unjustly ruined by a superior officer, the handsome soldier turned to crime. His blue eyes and daring deeds earned him a name throughout the old Southwest, but bandits sought gold, and this gunfighters interests were entirely different. Fate had blown in a sexier bounty. Though she was swept away by it, Emily Morgan was less awed by the mystic whirlwind that carried her into the past than by the handsome desperado who greeted her. Joining the mans close-knit band of outlaws, Emily learned the fun of being bad dangers. And when the Feds came to capture her Blue-Eyed Bandit, Emily would prove that Western justice had its limits, and true love could break any laws

(An Okay read)

(good... not spectacular... rushed ending)

(A vivid, lush reading experience not to be missed...)

(Wow, Ancient Egypt and a great story, too.)

(An enjoyable time travel to ancient Egypt)
The book was okay at best. It was a very interesting premise but Alex as so annoying it took away from the story. I almost started rooting for Tem. I think it would have been much more interesting if Kirk had not rushed the ending. It would have been so much fun to see how Tarik functioned in the future. On the whole, interesting premise--adequate to poor delivery.
I'm a sucker for time travel romance. I fell in love with A Knight in Shining Armor a few years back and since then, i was hooked. I wasn't a big fan of the author's style of writing. First 10 pages, i was already getting sleepy. The story picks up after a few pages though. I give it an A+ for the premise. I felt that the ending was kind of rushed though. She could've spent a lot more material on the ending, and the story would've been more interesting with a love triangle with the other Egyptian King. Good character development with the male and female lead. It was an "ok" book in the end. I'd read it again just because i'm a sicko for Egyptian culture, but i don't really recommend it.
Few writers can pull off writing an Egyptian time travel with the aplomb of Diana Kirk. I read Song of Isis years ago and loved the vivid and lush writing style. The characters are unique and the setting so strongly described I felt transported right back in time with the heroine. Diana knows how to create memorable external and internal conflict with consumate skill. My first copy of this book was an ebook, and I liked this novel so much I'm now getting a paperback copy to add to my collection. If that doesn't tell you how much I enjoyed this novel, nothing will.
If you're a fan of ancient Egypt, I found this story fascinating. I could almost feel the sand in my toes. It makes me want more. I loved the characters of Tarik and Alex. Although their age difference is over 2000 years, I certainly found them appealing and most compatible. I sure hope Diana writes a sequel.
I'm amazed at how different people view different books. In one review, the person said they caught all kinds of mistakes in the book and gave it a single star rating. This person apparently can't read because Seta was not Alex. Seta was the Nubian slave princess who became Alex's friend and was featured prominently throughout the book until the end when her husband was killed. There's even a sub-romance featuring Seta and her husband. And the part about how Alex magically can understand ancient Egyptian. She's the daughter of an archeologist and was taught the language (at least the visual part) from childhood on up. And she didn't suddenly learn Egyptian.

Well, I for one, liked it a lot. Enough to buy several copies for my friends and I think the author did a wonderful job of bringing to life a world that has been lost or forgotten. There are too few novels taking place in ancient Egypt. And as for Diana G's books, the OUtlander series, I found Clare's reaction to being sucked back in time, totally unrealistic. It was as if she wasn't surprised that she was pulled into Middle Ages Scotland. It was like, "Oh, I'm back in time. Oh well." And on with the story.

I guess that's what makes this a diverse population. One person's gold is another's lead.

Time travel romance: CPR in ancient Egypt? Alexandria Stone is a physician with all the techniques of modern medicine at her disposal, but when an x-ray of a mummy found at her father's archeological dig reveals a procedure that hadn't been developed four thousand years ago, her excitement overcomes her scientist's logic. Determined to prove her theory, she visits her father's dig. In the hidden room of a pharaoh's tomb, her father discovers an ancient scroll lying near a statue of the goddess, Isis. When Alex attempts to sing the song written on it, she is transported back in time -- and right into the arms of the best looking hunk she's ever encountered: Tarik, chief physician to Pharaoh Mentuhotep.
