(Read This book and thought.,"Doesn't cut it"!)
(HUH???)
(A Stellar Read...a masterful writer...)
(Wonderful end to fantastic series) Jake Tierney is in a downward spiral, mourning the loss of his wife, Hope, and his life as Scott Dillon in an alternate time thread. As an Antousian shifter, he used his ability to take over a human's body and make it his own. Unfortunately, circumstances also dictated that he'd time travel back into the past and now he has to cope with knowing that Hope still lives in this time thread...and she is happily married to an alternate version of Scott Dillon, his former identity. Shelby Tyler is a Medic authorized to return Jake to their king, Jared Bennett. However, the war between the alien races is heating up and Shelby and Jake will have to face the demons of their pasts or risk losing it all. Can they find love in the midst of such chaos?
If you haven't read the first three Midnight Warriors books, stop right now and read those first. Deidre Knight's world is so vast and complex, particularly with the time travel and the theory about varying time lines, that a newcomer to the series will most likely be completely confused. The background for the Jake Tierny/Scott Dillon dilemma is fully revealed in PARALLEL SEDUCTION although Deidre Knight offers the reader a quick reminder at the beginning.
Jake Tierny is an intriguing character, a hero forced to reside in the body of his most hated enemy. His loathing at the horrific deeds committed by the human Jake Tierney in the alternate timeline have sent him on a disastrous path of drinking, fighting, and despair. Deidre Knight asks the reader to examine what exactly makes a man, his inner heart or the exterior shell? Can a true hero emerge from the body of a murderous monster? Shelby is the perfect contrast to Jake. She wears her heart on her sleeve. Her openness and empathy help Jake look deep within himself to see the heroic heart that he has hidden under his anger.
PARALLEL DESIRE is a fascinating story. My only fault with the story lies in that there are some threads left unresolved and this is billed as the last book in the series. Bravo, Ms. Knight for creating such a vast and captivating world!
COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES I am sorry to say that this book just didn't "go anywhere" for me. Half the time I was left wondering " what is going on" and the book didn't effectively explain what was going on. The other half said, "Why am I reading this book? The ending didn't help with all the unanswered questions! But, read it if you want! Maybe she should have gone back and reread the book and helped the readers out with some neccesary answers or hints to some of my unanswered questions. Or, maybe she didn't get the chance to write another book but, come on, no one likes books that end with threads hanging!!! I am Trying to figure out these 5 star reviews.....It was OK BUT....not as good as previous books and toooo much jumping between the characters' stories- if you can't keep up with multiple stories within a story this is Not for you, and if you have not read books 1-3 do NOT start with this one!!.....I Quit reading it after 3 chapters, only finished it today as I had nothing else to read....it was Irritating and boderline Boring....Last book?? Then WHAT Happened with the war???? and everything else??? DUMB! Trapped in the past wearing the body of the man who killed his wife and his unborn daughter in a future timeline, Scott Dillon is a tortured soul filled with self loathing. Disgusted by the fact that he occupies the body of the man who will one day kill his wife and child, Scott now insists on being called by the future murderer's name--Jake Tierney.
Parallel Desire finds Scott Dillon a man truly at war with himself--a younger version of himself. Realizing that Hope Harper, the love of his life is truly happy with the man he once was, Scott/Jake realizes he must find a new reason to go on living, in spite of the fact that he is still deeply in love with Hope.
He finds that quest with his goal to track down his wife's future killer--the real Jake Tierney. Scott hopes to use the fact that he now wears Jake's future body to infiltrate Jake's current life and somehow redirect the future so that Hope and her unborn child will be spared the horrific deaths they will suffer in the future.
Scott is overcome by grief and self hatred until medic Shelby Tyler steps in, refusing to let him wallow in his misery. As Scott and Shelby work to discover the mysteries surrounding the original Jake Tierney, they uncover grave dangers facing both Earth and the Rafarians. In the process of discovering the real Jake Tierney, Scott finds self forgiveness and new love with Shelby.
The fourth and final entry into the Midnight Warrior series, Deidre's emotional writing and captivating story lines keep the reader glued to the page. Her characters are masterfully flawed, and as they struggle against those flaws to find love in a world standing on the brink of Armageddon, the things that truly matter in life are once again reaffirmed.
Love will always find a way.
Scott Dillon is a man on a quest of vengeance. He is searching for the warrior who killed his wife and unborn child. Scott loses himself in his grief till Shelby Tyler arrives in his life to rescue from his despair and self-destroying ways. With her love she helps him to discover apart of himself that he thought long lost. Plus she plays a huge role in discovering the truths behind the deaths of his family.
Finally Ms. Knight tells us Scott's story. PARALLEL DESIRE is a wonderful and emotional story that is a very worthy end of the Midnight Warriors series.
Since the first book PARALLEL ATTRACTION, Scott was one of the most fascinating characters and he gets with Shelby a great heroine who makes him whole again.
The book is not only something for sci-fi or paranormal fans but also for all fans of good stories. Ms. Knight has very special voice that absolutely draws her readers into the story and you want be able to stop reading once you have started reading.
PARALLEL DESIRES is the fourth book of the series and this reader highly recommends that you have read the other books prior reading this one. Otherwise you would be missing too much background information.
This reviewer is really looking forward to see with what Ms. Knight comes up next. Her Midnight Warrior series is one of the most unique series in this genre and each book is a real keeper, which you don't want to miss.
Courtesy of Loveromances and More On a mission of vengeance, time traveler Scott Dillon finds himself marooned in the past-and risks disrupting the entire universe in his quest to destroy the warrior who killed his wife and unborn child.
A never-ending passion for Scott lures Refarian medic Shelby Tyler to Texas, but the man she finds there is nothing like the man for whom she once cared. Reeling from his loss, Scott has lost himself in drinking and brawling. With her body, Shelby will lift him from despair. And with her heart, she will help him discover a part of his soul he thought was lost forever-and the devastating truth behind the murder of his wife. (Great book)
(great book !!!)
(Master of Stupidity is More Like It)
(Interesting concept, fantastic characters, GREAT story!) This was my first Nina Bangs books and after I finished it, I started searching for more books by this author. She is one of my new favorites. Buy the book, you won't be disatisfied. I enjoyed this book... it was fun and exciting, it is a great start to a series. Bring on Book 2. I never cared for vampire novels and then one day I picked up this book and now I'm hooked... great book !!! I realize one has to suspend all belief when reading fantasy and/or romance novels of any genre, but the sheer idiocy of this one takes the cake. I've read a lot of this "type" of book (the good and the bad) and sadly, this is probably the worst. And I'm not that picky; I hate giving bad reviews. Aside from the one-dimendional boring characters I didn't care about, what really got me is that this struggles to be, but isn't, funny. It's just dumb and weakly written, like a bad sitcom. I won't bore you with the plot details because they've already been hashed by other reviewers and aren't worth mentioning (scary-lonely-dark-sexy vampire, time traveling woman who falls for him while doing her job, magic-fairy creature in form of a cat, assorted others who do miscellaneous stuff in the background, etc. I think one of the reviews here actually compared the Highlander vampire in this book to Highlander Jamie McKenzie from Diana Gabaldon's outstanding Outlander series so I thought it might have some merit. Sorry but no. Were we reading the same books?). Thankfully I got this for free otherwise I'd be a bit skeeved having paid good money for it. Needless to say, I won't be reading any more by this author as I fear they will be just as weak and pathetic as this one, which I struggled to finish. Do yourself a favor and pass it by. It's not even good trashy beach reading (which I like, don't get me wrong), it's just a waste of time and paper. Nina Bangs may have an audience out there, she's certainly written a lot of books, but it certainly isn't me. Ever wonder what life would be like in the future? Just ask the guests at Castle McKenzie in Scotland. They all come from the year 2310, and they are all on vacation to an authentic scottish castle. Little did they know that their vacation also came with an authentic scottish vampire. Our hero, Darach, is a 500 year old vampire taking his turn at the home castle, since all vampires who have went mad will come back to their ancestral home. Once they get there, it is Darach's job to kill them, to prevent them from killing humans. He is in the middle of his time at the castle when the tour group shows up, led by Ganymede, a cosmic troublemaker who has recently had his powers clipped. Our heroine is Blythe, whose job is to make people feel good without actually crossing the line into physical interactions. Since she messed up once, she is given the task of taking care of Darach without actually TAKING care of him. That is the basic premise of the story. Add in some hilarious secondary characters, like Sparkle Stardust-who is one of my favorites-and a cult of crazed women who think that gang raping a vampire will make them immortal, and you have an excellent story that will keep you totally involved until the book is finished. WARRIOR, HIGHLANDER, VAMPIREMeet the MASTER OF ECSTASY. Darach MacKenzie is everything dark, dangerous, and delicious. His voice is a tempting slide of sin, and he's the primitive need that lives in every woman, no matter how much she denies it. But even five hundred years of sensual knowledge haven't prepared him for the woman who awaits him in his clan's ancestral castle. HAPPINESS IS HER BUSINESS In a distant future, Blythe works for Ecstasy Inc. to make people happy. That's her job, and she does it well. Company policy forbids the use of sensual solutions to cure unhappiness, and Blythe agrees that sex is a short-term fix. When her abilities are called into question, Blythe travels back to the Scottish Highlands of 1785 to prove that she can make anyone happy. She hasn't counted on a centuries-old vampire for a client. Darach believes that sexual pleasure is the key to happiness. Blythe thinks that Ecstasy Inc. has all the answers. Neither one considers love as an option. They're about to discover how wrong they can be. Rerations < Master of Ecstasy (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 1) >

(Imaginative and Original!)
(Pirates)
(I Couldn't Put It Down!)
(What an imagination!) It may be a little far fetched but it is a very enjoyable read and a lot of fun. I would love to see more stories like this one. You can't help but love Phoebe and Duncan. I highly recommend this book. Especially if you want an easy romance... you won't be able to put it down. This is an imaginative tale that is masterfully written. The characters and lovable, and orginal as is the story itself. Ms. Miller managed to create an amazing bond between two people in a very short time.
Phoebe is mysteriously tranported back into a time of pirates through a magical elevator that servered as a gateway. On the other side she meats Duncan who for all his brashnes turns out to be the man of Phoebe's dreams. The story follows them through many twists and turns taking the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride.
Ms. Miller has made even the most unlikely of events seem to be real. This is a book that you will be glad you read. I read this book in one day. And I fell in love with Duncan. This was one of the best books I have ever read. I reccomend this to anyone who wants a break from everyday life to live in a fantasy. You'll love it, I promise. I really enjoy books on time-travel. This book was the best yet. I was really upset when I was done. Not because it was bad, but because I wanted more! I finished it in two day while telling my kids "uh huh" and "yeah" and having absolutely no idea what they were talking about. It was just an excellent book. I felt like I really knew the characters and I would love to see Linda write a sequel. What an imagination Linda Lael Miller has! Yet once the reader accepts the basic premise of her time-travel fantasy, Miller keeps her story fast-moving and consistent within the premise of that fantasy. Along the way, Linda painlessly has included a fair amount of colonial history--not to mention some spicy love scenes. A fun, escapist read. Hats off to Ms. Miller.
Now Linda Lael Miller sweeps readers away -- and through times itself -- when a thoroughly modern woman encounters a dangerous, dashing eighteenth-century buccaneer is a sensuous, joyous, utterly hearwarming tale of love.... Phoebe Turlow needs to get out of Seattle and forget about the man she just divorced, her dwindling finances, and the lonely nights that stretch ahead of her. But she can't foresee what awaits her on Paradise lsland.... Duncan Rourke is known to historians as "the pirate patriot." He's been dead for two centuries -- or at least he's supposed to be, until Phoebe Turlow steps out of a van, into a run-down island hotel, and into his world. Neither Phoebe nor her pirate can envision the glorious venture that is about to unfold. They understand only that they have found each other, and a grand passion across the chasm of time...and they fear only the moment when it may vanish. Passionate, emotional, and completely entrancing,Pirateswill steal your heart. Rerations < Pirates >

(Very good but...)
(A good, clean historical romance)
(...THE MORE I WANT YOU...)
(A truly enchanting tale) Once again Kurland has created a gem in the form of THE MORE I SEE YOU. This is the story of Jessica Blakely and Richard de Galtres. She's a woman from the 20th century, he's a brooding knight of the 13th.
Their story has everything you could want in a romance book. Jessica has to find out WHY she is brought to the 13th century before she can possibly go home, in the interim she falls in love with the brooding knight who is full of emotional baggage from his childhood. At first hard hearted, she warms his heart to the point where every now and then he will laugh, or smile. To which he always denies he's done either. Filled with humor at every turn, THE MORE I SEE YOU, is one of Kurland's best. But then she has yet to disappoint this reader. I read this book in one day, letting my housework go so that I could find out what happened next.
As always Kurland reintroduces previous characters from her other books. They are all intertwined in one form or the other. In this case Richard was fostered at Artane with Robin being his foster father and Kendrick his brother in arms and the only friend Richard ever made. Kendrick is also privy to his childhood trauma. Not even Jessica knows the whole story, nor does Richard ever enlighten her. Jessica figures out what might have made him so "hard hearted" when she first met him from the fever he ends up suffering through after he sustained a meer "scratch."
It is in this novel that we learn of Kendrick's betrothal, marriage and subsequent death at the hands of Matilda and Richard of York. Though Kendrick's family can't prove it they suspect foul play and Richard's instinct tells him that something is very much amiss at Seakirk, but like the De Paigets he can't prove anything.
It is also in the this novel that we are once again introduced to Miles and Abby from THE CHRISTMAS CAT: A GIFT OF CHRISTMAS PAST. It's 20 years later for Abby and at Artane she finally meets Jessica, a kindred spirit from her own time. Although Abby was transported around the same time and they were close in age when Abby went back, Abby has been in the 13th century for awhile and is now in her 50's.
I was completely involved in this book. That is to say I cried when Jessica was returned to the 20th century. What I liked about it, was instead of transporting Richard to modern times, it is Jessica who stays (and brings back "goodies" from the 20th century). In many ways this could be compared to the classic BEAUTY AND THE BEAST tale: Richard is the scarred beast who grumbles and growls (a lot I might add but it's endearing), Jessica is the Beauty who tames him and softens his heart.
A wonderful story from beginning to end. I would recommend the reader read this one FIRST before reading STARDUST OF YESTERDAY.
The reading order for the De Piaget series so far should be as follows:
ANOTHER CHANCE TO DREAM (Rhys and Gwen (Robin's father and Mother)) IF I HAD YOU (Robin and Anne) THE CHRISTMAS CAT: THE GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST (Miles (son of Robin) and Abby) THE MORE I SEE YOU STARDUST OF YESTERDAY (Kendrick and Genevieve)
As I've been reading them as the author wrote them, my reading list will probably change. When I read the books again, I will read them in Chronological order as the dates appear in the books.
It was a very good read but i have never read a historical romance that didn't have any sexy heart pounding love scenes. I was very unhappy when i found none! Cute, sweet, romantic story with some interesting twists but no fire under it all. Also, very confused as to what happened to Kendrick. I really don't think Richard could have found all those clues and then didn't say or do anything to find his foster brother. That would not have happened. The book is mainly set in the medieval period. The world-building in this book is excellent, and the characters are well-drawn. The pacing is good, and every scene serves a purpose. The focus is more on the romance than the history, and the story will probably appeal most to those who have always wished to marry their knight in shining (or not so shining) armor. There are no explicit sex scenes, but the main characters do have sex after they're married. I'd rate this as "good, clean fun."
Genre Reviews [...]
This is a light-weight time travel, historical romance novel that is laced with humor. While the writing is somewhat pedestrian and there is little character development, the story can carry the day, despite some of the historical detail being a bit questionable. The reader need only suspend disbelief to get some enjoyment out of this whimsical book.
When Jessica Blakely, a modern day miss, finds herself mysteriously transported in time to thirteenth century England, little did she know that it would be there that she would meet the man who was to be the love of her life, Richard De Galtres. He is a noble knight who has hardened his heart against love due to his harsh upbringing by a brutal father, until fate conspires to have Richard and Jessica meet and fall in love. How they overcome their differences, as Richard learns to cope with a modern woman and Jessica learns to cope with a medieval man, makes for a story that those who like reading time travel, historical romance novels will enjoy. Absolutely loved this book. Couldn't put it down once I got started. Loved the tenderness between the H/H.
Richard is a tortured soul, after the abuses he suffered as a child from his father. He rescues Jessica from danger who unknowningly has landed herself in the 13th century, after wishing upon a star.
In Richard, the lonely Jessica finds her soulmate. But it takes Richard much longer to respond. He belives he has a heart of stone, and no soft feelings, so he keeps away from Jessica. As he gets to know her, he comes to love her and to trust her with his heart. He also realises she's telling the truth that she's from the future and not spouting inane nonsense when she knocked her head from fainting. And he knows too that he could lose her once again.
This is a heart-wrenching tale, with a gut-wrenching ending when they are torn apart. make sure tissues are handy for this one. Thank God they do have their HEA. Setting: Medieval England, 1260 Sensuality: 7Jessica Blakely appears to have it all as composer-in-residence at a prestigious university. But what she really wants is a husband and family. On a trip to England, Jessica walks in an estate garden and wishes on a star for a "fair and gallant knight... a man to love me at least as much as he loves himself." Within moments fog rolls in, and when it lifts the garden is gone and she's swept up by an armored knight, narrowly escaping being trampled by a mounted hunting party. Richard of Burwyck-on-the-Sea hates having to be chivalrous, but as leaving the lovely woman isn't an option, he carries her home with him. The fact that Jessica is far, far from Manhattan takes only a little while to sink in, as does the realization that this bold, brash knight is the man for her. But for Richard, whose own dreams of happiness were beaten out of him as a child, it takes a little longer to accept that Jessica is the mate that fate and time have sent him. But even if Jessica wants to stay in 1260 England with her battle-hardened knight, will the forces that drew her to him across time allow her to remain? And if Richard gives his wary heart into Jessica's keeping, can he be sure she won't carry it away with her into the future and leave him alone? Kurland has a talent for mixing the pageantry of medieval England and the romance of knightly chivalry with the gritty reality of everyday life. Add a brooding hero and a feisty heroine, a plot that avoids cliches, and a unique voice from Kurland that's downright charming, and you haveThe More I See You.--Lois Faye Dyer Rerations < The More I See You >

customer 's review (*Sigh* Spectacular and Satisfying)
(Awsome book)
(A Wonderful Jaunt Through Time!)
(Like watching a train wreck)
(Pathetic) This was the first ever Jude Deveraux book I have ever read. I'm skeptical to try new writers, but Jude Deveraux took my breath away. Legend has mystery, romance, time travel, and adventure all rolled into one book. There are so many surprises in this book and you are shocked through most of it. If you are looking for a book that you cant put down and thats going to keep you up all night, I highly recommend this one. You fall in love with Cole Jordan at first, then you fall in love with Tarik. You hate Gregory, he's the typical "player" type of guy who all women in the world band against. Your heart goes out to Kady as she goes through heartache and love. I fell in love with Legend, Colorado. I wanted to go there so bad after I finished reading. So please read this novel, you wont be disappointed. Loved, Loved, Loved, this book. It makes you want to go to Legend. Has lots of surprises throughout the book. You wont put this one down till the end. Then you will wish for a sequel. Thank you Jude Deveraux, for another well writted time travel. Jude D. is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of the reasons why...it keeps you guessing, trying to figure things out. The time-travel sequences are done quite well, and believable!!! Kady was a hoot! And it's always nice to have a leading lady who is not perfect!! Flaws are what make us what we are, most heroines don't have any, so it's always great when they do, whether imagined or real!! This book is well worth your time, hard to put down and very entertaining!!!! Why??? You know some writers reach a certain status and all common sense fly out the window. I could repeat the premise, but not the plot. The plot is completely MIA and there's nothing anyone can do to convince me that JD wasn't on some heavy stuff while writing this. There were literally 3 love interest (Cole, Gregory/Tarik) in this book and the real hero not being introduced until half way through the book. This is fine for Chick Lit or mainstream, but in romance??? WTF? I can see the rocks acting as a portal, but Kady first trip was no where near that portal and since the writer makes it abundantly clear that the wedding dress has nothing to with that portal or the watch, I'm left scratching my head. Plus, someone please explain to me how Tarik had a marriage certificate between Cole and Kady if Cole died when he was 9? I kept waiting for someone to point that impossibility out-but no. Apparently JD is above having editors as well. What happened to Wendell? Did Kady get her dream restaurant or is the message that what Kady always wanted to be happy is a man? Both Cole and Tarik fell in love too easily. And they both talked like women. It was just Wham! I love you. Plus, why did we have to see Tarik with Leonie and Wendell. Am I right that those two were kissing cousins? And that he socked her? Of course, this was after her brother drugged her. I mean, come on. I don't even see why she was a character in the book. She had no purpose. No way a will like that would have stood up in anyone's court and how was it that the family didn't seperate their fortunes from Ruth? None of this made any sense. I looooved Knight and Shining Armor. Remembrance was equally a headache and some of her contemporary stuff isn't hitting on anything with me either. I think it's time for my love affair with this writer to finally come to an end. Sorry. I read the entire 374 pages of this book and I would not wish this book on anyone. The writing is amateurish and the story is ludicrous. Jude Deveraux wrote a wonderful book when she wrote "A Knight in Shining Armor". I like some time travel books but this book is not one of them. I could not wait to get to the end of the book but I read to the end to see how this silly story would end. Jude Deveraux needs to return to higher standards as she did when she wrote "A Knight in Shining Armor". After donning an antique wedding dress, celebrated chef Kady Long finds herself transported back in time to nineteenth-century Colorado, where she is tricked into marrying the man she saves from hanging, a man who harbors a painful secret about his past. Elizabeth Kady Long is 30 years old, an accomplished chef, and engaged to handsome Gregory Norman, her employer's son. While shopping for her wedding, she impulsively buys a large, dusty tin box at an antique shop. When she pries it open, she discovers an 1873 wedding dress and underpinnings, together with a photo of a family. Intrigued, she can't resist trying on the dress, and when she does, she's drawn back into the past. The year is 1873, the place is Legend, Colorado, and Cole Jordan is about to be hanged. No one writes about time travel quite like the inimitable Jude Deveraux, and inLegendDeveraux once again delivers unforgettable characters, heartfelt romance, and a plot with twists and turns that will surprise the keenest mystery-solving reader. Don't miss this latest novel from the pen of one of America's best-loved romance writers. Rerations < Legend >

(Sexy Time Travelling Love Story)
(A MUST READ!)
(whimsical time travel romance)
(Great Read!) Ellie Graham is the tour manager for Ian MacGregor, Celtic rock star. She's trying desperately to resist his considerable charms. He's not only beautiful, but he's a nice guy and she knows she has started to fall in love with him. That's why she has to quit working for him and leave as soon as the tour ends. There's less chance she'll get hurt that way.
What she doesn't know is that Ian has been magically transported to the present day from the year 1711. He felt an instant attraction to Ellie right from the start, but when he tried to take their budding friendship into flirtation, she pulled away. She has serious self-esteem issues, and hides herself under layers of black clothing. I can't help but love a heroine in Doc Martens.
As Ellie is running, quite literally, away from her feelings for Ian, she ends up at the cairn where her older sister Maggie was transported to the past. She doesn't know anything about that though, so she isn't aware of the repercussions of walking along the spirals found within. Upon discovering Ellie has disappeared, Ian knows he must travel back in time to rescue her.
Ian left behind his responsibilities when he traveled to the future, and Ellie is experiencing the same feeling of freedom in the past. But having returned to the past to save Ellie, Ian realizes he must stay in his own time and face his responsibilities. Maybe even alter history for the better. That means he'll have to let go of Ellie and his feelings for her.
Highland Rebel by Tess Mallory is a fantastic blend of romance, adventure and history, with a well-crafted plot, a comfortable pace, and likeable and intelligent characters. I had read good things about Ms. Mallory's other time travel romances, and now I'm looking forward to reading more of her work. This can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, but if you're like me you'll want to read the first book as well. Anyone who likes time travel romances and hot men in kilts will love this one. Definitely recommended.

As Ian works to figure out how to make amends for not being there for his family through tumultuous times, he is also trying to work out how to best return Ellie to her time. As the love connection between Ian and Ellie grows and solidifies, both must face life-changing decisions that affect both of them, as well as their future.
//Highland Rebel// is a fun read, clever in spots, humorous and sexy and entertaining. In complexity of plot and character development, this book is nowhere near the Outlander series of books put out by Diana Gabaldon, but it is still a fun romp through time travel, and it is hard to resist a sexy Scotsman!

Tess Mallory never fails to entertain and her imaginative storytelling really shines through in "Highland Rebel." It really is unlike anything I've ever read (and I read A LOT). It's a non-stop adventure through history that makes you hold your breath til you finish the epilogue! It almost felt like a movie playing in my mind! The imagery is so detailed, the writing is beautiful, and the characters unforgettable! If you like sex, humor, and adventure (and who among us doesn't!?), this book is a must-read that is a keeper for sure! The Highland Rebel Ian MacGregor is the hottest rock star with his songs dominating the charts and air waves. He finds his fame and fortune amusingly ironic since he is an original Highland Rebel having traveled through time from the eighteenth century. Although he plays the groupies as the "Celtic Casanova", he is attracted to band manager Ellie Graham.
Ellie loves Ian, but since her parents died she fears strong emotions so she hides her feelings from the singer and to a degree herself. When Ellie accidentally travels back three centuries, Ian follows to save his beloved. Only fate picked a time and place that leaves them between a rock of Highland rebels and the roll of the armies of the English king.
The Queen of Highlander time travel romance (see HIGHLAND MAGIC, HIGHLAND DREAM, HIGHLAND FLING and HIGHLAND ROGUE), Tess Mallory writes another whimsical tale as the roguish hero follows his love back to the era he left behind. Part of the pleasure in this delightful entry is the reaction of Ian's brother Angus to his siblings' return after his being away over two decades from home as he sets the tone and invigorates the saga.

I have read all of Tess Mallory's books and this one is my favorite yet! It is funny and passionate and sexy and...well, just read it! Meet the irresistible Highland Rebel... He’s music’s hottest pop idol, a Celtic bad boy whose tradition-drenched rock rules the charts. But Ian MacGregor hails from 18th-century Scotland. And nothing can make him return except perhaps a certain blue-eyed lassie. Ellie Graham is his tour manager. But when she’s swept back almost 300 years into the past and into treachery, only Ian—and his passion—can save her. Rerations < Highland Rebel >

(A Great Story)
(A wonderful read!)
(Love Lynn Kurland)
(A time-travel story well-told...) This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. This is the first book I have read by Lynn Kurland and I am now hooked. I highly recommend reading this book. This book is well written, funny and has intrigue. A great read, couldn't put it down. Again, Kurland surpasses her other books! Once more I have found a book I couldn't put down unless I had to.
I liked Alexander from the previous novel A DANCE THROUGH TIME, so was thrilled to read of his adventure in 12th Century England. The book has humor, romance, intrigue and we even meet King Richard to boot! A thrilling novel from start to end.
I loved Margaret, who is a modern woman born in the wrong time period. She can take care of herself and that is putting it mildly! Alex in no way trys to "tame her" as in some romances along the same lines but accepts her for who and what she is...a woman in charge of her hall and people. Who has done her best for them after her brothers and father die and she is left with the responsiblity of taking care of them. A strong woman in an age ruled by men who think women are weak and should be seen and not heard or listened to.
Even the secondary characters are of interest in this one. Baldric is hilarious, especially his need to unravel tapestries when he is composing his prose. I laughed when Elizabeth gifted him with knitting needles and pink yarn!
One of my favorite scenes was on Alexander's and Margaret's wedding night. Question: What do you give a woman who is a virgin, who you KNOW will skewer you if you take her virginity, to distract her before you do the "deed?" I'll leave it up to the next reader to find out. I found Alexander's solution (thanks to his brother-in-law) quite humorous.
Of course we once again meet Jamie and Elizabeth, Zachery, Patrick and Joshua from A DANCE THROUGH TIME. I wonder if Kurland will do a book featuring Zachery? Only time will tell I suppose. I know she's written one featuring Patrick, but I have yet to read that one.
A throughly enjoyable book and one I recommend. However, before you read this one, start with A DANCE THROUGH TIME, Elizabeth and Jamie's foray in 1311 Scotland. I like the way she writes, she is funny and I like to think of time travel as a theme in a story This is Alex's story... having already taken one trip into the past with Jamie in Dance Through Time, of course he was fated to make another trip, right? Only this time he ends up in medieval England as prisoner of Margaret of Falconberg who, of course, meant to capture someone else.
This story is one that's full of passion told through emotion... of the anguish and confusion in someone torn between two centuries... of a man and a woman who must find a place in both. I love this book (although I do skip over Cedric's rhyming episodes) and I like the way Lynn unfolds the story and their emotions and thought-processes. A medieval map leads corporate exec Alexander Smith on a journey back in time...where a beautiful woman helps him rediscover his own chivalrous - and passionate - heart.

(Dream a Little Dream of Me)
(Lost in time)
(BUCKLE YOUR SWASHES!)
(i loved this book) I plowed through this story in a couple of days and have the following comments: 1. I couldn't get into the lead character. I found the time traveler to be an undeveloped and not very interesting character. 2. As for the romance between the pirate captain and the time traveler, I found that relationship brief and also not very (sexually or romantically) exciting or compelling.
All in all, I think the author should have been a less time spent on the lead character's relationship with her ex (in the present), which would have given the writer more time to develop the relationship between the pirate captain and the time traveling castaway. I found this book to pleasant but forgettable.
Not Brenda Adcock's first book, but certainly her best yet. Here, she takes us on a sea adventure with Dr. Julia Blanchard. Julia and her team have been exploring a shipwreck off the coast of Georgia. One day, after finding her partner in a precarious position with another woman, she goes out to the site alone. Her misery is interrupted by modern-day pirates and the real adventure begins.
Trying to keep away from the pirates, Julia gets stranded in an Atlantic storm with little hope of survival. When she wakes up, she finds herself on an early nineteenth century British ship surrounded by the history she adores. As she settles in to the realization that she's not dreaming, Julia embraces her situation. It doesn't take long for her to meet `pirate' captain Simone Morneau. After a seductive dance, Julia and Simone fall in love and begin to make plans for the future. Of course, just as easily as Julia falls into the past she ultimately returns to the future. The author throws in an interesting and unexpected twist that delighted this reader. It all makes one wonder if Julia was delusional while lost at sea or if she actually experienced the time with Simone.
Adcock's imagination and story-telling abilities are fantastic. The reader can almost feel the breeze and smell the salt in the sea air. The details really enhance the quality of the tale. There was still snow on the ground here when I read the book, but I was warm and cozy when I was reading.
Bottom Line - Great read. Although an unbelievable premise, the story is almost realistic. Here's proof that Adcock will only get better with time.
I really enjoyed this book. The drama of the situation of being caught in time travel by sea. The captain who cannot decide what she wants even with all her wealth. The ending really surprised me but it was a nice surprise, I really liked the twist. The tall, lean captain of the privateer strides the bloody deck of Le Faucon de Mer - Falcon of the Sea, cutlass in hand, short black hair whipped by the breeze, a striking figure in white shirt, tight breeches and boots, a ruthless figure that brooks no disobedience. The captain's cutlass is as quick to enforce discipline among the crew as it is to cut down a British officer.
But that's not the beginning of the story. The beginning lies not in the past but 150 years in the future, and it does not begin with the ruthless captain of a privateer but with a marine archaeologist named Julia Blanchard. With her personal life in shambles, Dr. Blanchard has turned her every thought to the newly discovered sunken vessel off the Georgia coast, which she has lovingly named The Georgia Peach. While she is foolishly diving alone, with a storm threatening, her boat is stolen by 21st century pirates. She manages to get on board unseen to take an extra air tank but is discovered. She escapes the threat of a brutal rape by diving back into the sea. But in escaping one fate, she finds herself facing another. Barely clinging to life, buffeted by the sea and fried by the sun, she drifts on the uncaring sea until she loses consciousness.
And thereby hangs the tale.
Julia Blanchard, burned, dehydrated, unable to speak, wakes up in 1814, on board a British frigate, rescued from the sea and certain death. Not long after her rescue, as she recovers her health due to her youth and strength, the frigate is captured by Le Faucon de Mer. It is then that Julia sees the captain of the privateer--a woman, by name Simone Moreau, called "Faucon". (I picture a young Sigourney Weaver starring in the film).
Yes, Gentle Reader, this is a time traveling, f/f romance, if one must label books with a genre. But even if you have never read a book of this kind, I hope that you'll give this one a try. It is an accurately depicted, meticulously researched "age of sail" historical novels with strong female characters who take no guff from anyone of either gender. It's a swashbuckling adventure complete with decks slippery with blood, the deafening boom of cannon fire; with old Andrew Jackson and elegant Jean Lafitte; with a love triangle, violent jealousy, and enough sexual tension to sink Le Faucon de Mer. It ends with a satisfactory twist that you know will become a happily-ever-after, as a good romance should.
If you think you would feel uneasy reading f/f sex scenes, you can skip them; there are not many and they are brief, nor are they overly graphic. Please don't use them as a reason not to read The Sea Hawk. I really believe you'd enjoy it. I haven't read very many f/f novels, but the few I have read have been very good. I enthusiastically add The Sea Hawk to that number and recommend it highly.
Ruth Sims, author of The Phoenix a little choppy at first but it really grabbed me and refused to let go. majorily plot over smut with several sexual encounters sprinkled throughout the book which were tastefully executed. i easily lost my self in the story and had a hard time putting this book down, a must have for any lesbian romance collection Dr. Julia Blanchard, a marine archaeologist, and her team of divers have spent almost eighteen months excavating the remains of a ship found a few miles off the coast of Georgia. Although they learn quite a bit about the nineteenth century sailing vessel, they have found nothing that would reveal the identity of the ship they have nicknamed "The Georgia Peach." Consumed by the excavation of the mysterious ship, Julia's relationship with her partner, Amy, has deteriorated. When she forgets Amy's birthday and finds her celebrating in the arms of another woman, Julia returns alone to the Peach site. Caught in a violent storm, she finds herself separated from her boat and adrift on the vast Atlantic Ocean. Her rescue at sea leads her on an unexpected journey into the true identity of the Peach and the captain and crew who called it their home. Her travels take her to the island of Martinique, the eastern Caribbean islands, the Louisiana German Coast and New Orleans at the close of the War of 1812. How had the Peach come to rest in the waters off the Georgia coast? What had become of her alluring and enigmatic captain, Simone Moreau? Can love conquer everything, even time? On a voyage that lifts her spirits and eventually breaks her heart, Julia discovers the identity of the ship she had been excavating and the fate of its crew. Along the way she also discovers the true meaning of love which can be as boundless and unpredictable as the ocean itself. Rerations < The Sea Hawk >
