Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A struggle to finish) 『Thirty-year-old Rain Jordan's story begins with her death. A pacifist doctor, Rain visits a Viking museum with her mother, Ruby, who claims to have traveled back in time to the Viking settlement enshrined by the museum's displays. While she is there, Rain sees a painting with a handsome blond Viking warrior in the middle of a battle and realizes that he is the man who has been haunting her dreams for years. Her mother identifies him as Selik, a handsome young lothario and Jomsviking who befriended her when she visited his time.
Rain is inexplicably drawn back to the museum the next day, wanting to view the violent scene in painting alone. While staring at the handsome Viking warrior on the canvas, she is apparently killed by some falling ceiling plaster. But she is dead only in the present day. God sends her spirit back to the year 937 A.D.--right in the middle of the Battle of Brunanburh as depicted in the painting. And we know that it was God who sent her back because Rain spends the rest of the book having internal discussions with Him about why she is there and what she should do.
Apparently what she is supposed to do is save Selik, who went berserk after his wife and child were tortured and killed ten years before by a Saxon noble called Steven of Gravely. The problem is that Selik doesn't want to be saved. He is hell-bent on avenging his family and then dying because he feels there is nothing left in this world for him. Now physically scarred and free of his Jomsviking vows, Selik is the classic tortured soul in need of redemption, the wounded heart that must be healed. The pacifist and the warrior share an instant attraction that progresses into love. Brutal though he is, Selik shows he is capable of restraint and compromise with Rain. But he is not willing to give up his quest for vengeance against the man responsible for the deaths of his family, even though it is a barrier to his relationship with Rain. Eventually, this quest leads to both Selik and Ruby being captured and abused by his nemesis and it is only after both are nearly killed that Selik must face the potential consequences of his obsession--and choose his priorities.
Through their experiences together and the growth of their relationship, both eventually realize that their extreme views are wrong and learn to be more flexible and understanding. Rain is able to give up her life in the future and Selik his life in the past so that they are able to build a present together. And they live happily ever after once the story ends, I suppose. I know that I lived more happily once the story ended--and not in a good way.
There are two immutables concerning the characters in romance novels. One is that the reader is supposed to fall in love with the hero. Oh, did Sandra excel here! The other is that the reader must sympathize with the heroine, perhaps envy her and wish to be her or know her. Oh, did Sandra fail here! Most of the other characters in the book didn't particularly care for Rain (notable exceptions being Ubbi and the children, society's castoffs). She is shrewish, immature, judgmental, demanding and lacking in good judgment in her words and deeds, and all of this despite being thirty years old and intellectually accomplished. I gritted my teeth to finish this book and I closed the back cover glad to end my acquaintance with Rain. Had there been a more likable heroine I would have enjoyed and recommended this book. As it is written, however, I do not consider it a worthy sequel to the cute story of Ruby's adventures and I regret the waste of my time and money.』
(part 2 of the series) 『This is the second book in the viking series. this is Rain's story. She is the Daughter of Ruby and Thork from "The Reluctant Viking". Selik, Thorks friend from the first book is the hero.
The book starts off with Ruby and Rain visiting York in modern times. Rain is a doctor and 30yrs old. Ruby's husband Jack who was the look alike for Thork has passed away. They decide to visit because York has set up a museum of old Viking artifacts. When Rain sees one painting of Selik she knows that he is the man who has haunted her dreams for years. She goes back on her own and is transported back in time to the very battle the picture represented. She sees Selik fighting like a mad man and rescues him from the attacking Saxons.
Selik is no longer the handsome man Ruby knew. He is battle scarred and has scars that no one sees on his heart. He takes her captive but lets her treat the injured including a young Tykir, her half brother. Selik doesn't really believe the story she tells about being from the future but after a time he comes to accept it as the truth.
Selik is a wanted man and must take himself off to protect Rain but she won't have any of that. She decides that she is there to save him and save him she shall, even if he doesn't want to be saved. Along the way we get to meet Adam, who I hope gets his own book and we also find out what happens to some old friends.
I really liked the humor that Sandra Hill puts into her tales. The passionate love scenes could burn the paper they are written on. All in all this was a good book and hard to put down.』
(A wonderful read) 『I just finished this book for the third time and I was thinking what a wonderful story it would be to hear abour the little boy Adam. All grown up and on his own. Then today I noticed that Hill's newest book is about a man named Adam. I can't wait to read it. I've enjoyed all of these books in the viking series. Each time I read the latest it's like catching up on old times with an old friend. Keep up the beautiful work Miss Hill !!!!』
(Modern-day femininity clashed with viking arrogance) 『Sandra Hill really exploded me into her writing with this one. If you want to get really involved with the characters in a romance then pick up this book and find a quiet corner (believe me, you want to be away from stares when you start laughing out loud and dripping tears on the paper) Each character has a uniqueness that surpasses the flat dimensions of writing and enter you into the world of pure *storytelling*. Rain and Selik collide with a sense of inevitability, not to mention spark and humour, right from the beginning - and don't let up.
Along with a sometimes surprising plot-line Ms Hill has given us all what we really want - a love that sizzles, heroes that stick in our mind, and a bucket-load of laughs. Really, how could anyone refuse that??!』
(2nd book in the Viking Series...) 『This is the 2nd book in the Viking series. Here we meet Ruby Jordan and Thork's daughter from the first book (The Reluctant Viking), Thoraine Jordan, or Rain.
Rain and her mother go to the famous archeological dig going on at the ancient Coppergate site in England in 1999. Rain sees an intriging painting of a Norse Viking warrior raising his sword against the enemies in a battle known as the "Great Battle" between the Saxons and the Vikings in the tenth century. It is the last battle between the two that resulted in the Saxon rule over the Vikings.
Rain is fasinated by the picture and her mother recognizes the man in the painting. The next day, Rain is so intrigued, she goes back to the painting to get a better look and suddenly is swept into the battle raging on in the portrait. Dr. Rain Jordan meets the man from the picture and knows him as Selik, her father's friend. She saves his life on the field, but he doesn't trust her.
Selik has been through utter dispair and misery these past 10 years since a terrible atrocity was inflicted upon him and his family. Selik knows nothing but revenge. He was once a proud and vain man, but the ravages of war and the horrible things he has endured have made him a bitter and "ugly" man. Rain knows she was sent back in time to save this desperate man, but will she need someone to save her from him?
I loved this story. I liked it more than the first book for the extra humor Sandra Hill is known for and the sexy and irrisistable heroes she creates. It is filled with Viking history and details not found in many historical romances. You can almost smell the city of Jorvik (York) and see the many peoples and things she describes. It is WELL worth the time and money spent on this EXCELLENT book, the whole series is worth more than 5 stars!

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Steamy and then Some) 『For those of you who don't like explicit sex scenes, this book is not for you. I say no holds barred is the way to go and I loved this book and have become an avid Blaze reader. The first of the three short stories, Mystery Lover, is my favorite. B.J. and Jonas are the happily ever after kind of romance that melts your heart. The idea that someone could have a steamy affair with one of their closest friends without the man knowing the identity of the woman seems far fetched, but Vicki Lewis Thompson managed to make it beleivable. She's one of my favorite autors and although she's mostly known for her "Nerd" series, this short story shoundn't be overlooked. I've also read the follow up to this story "Notorious" and wasn't disappointed. The other two stories in this book were aslo enjoyable but Jonas and B.J. will forever hold a special place in my heart. They couldn't have picked a better author to kick off this naughty new series. Blaze is the the best!』
(The old west meets a modern day women !) 『This book tells a story of two witches back 1882 and a modern day women who makes her living around other's sexually fantasies. Most of the book takes place in the old west with a hot-steaming cowboy and modern-day Elizabeth with a twist of time-travel. You will enjoy this fun read - take a chance I was hooked. I am off to find more books by this author.』
(My first Kimberly Raye book - how hilarious it was!) 『I really got a big kick out of this book. The characters were so easy to love. I thought her refering to the bad guys (until she learns their names at the end of the book) was darling - Slim, Medium,&Brawny. I liked how she was a woman who went after what she wanted, she didn't just sit back&wait for him to come to her. Being mistaken for Sinful Sinclair definitely had its advantages! I was kind of surprised, though, that at the end of the book, Sinful's sister just basically threw her hands up in the air&said, oh well! Guess my sister is stuck somewhere else. At least it appears she is happy. I loved the relationship between the main characters. They were perfect for each other, even if she wasn't so sure for most of the book (typical heroine).』
(Intense Romnce) 『This is the kid of romace novel that is not for the timid. I enjoy the love scenes in this novella. A prequel to the Blaze series. I like the first one, Mystery Lover. But the third one, Show and Tell, really stood out. Especially the part when the main female character,Laney, is masturbating right in front of Dallas. Defintely intense!』
(Show And Tell-Laney and Dallas) 『i read show and tell by kimberly raye.
favorite scene with laney- when she lets that girl work for her dad. she was turning her away because of how she dressed, and suddenly realized she can't judge someone by their dress.
favorite scene with dallas- finally stands up for himself about the tiles. i hope that guy divorces his wife. :)
favorite scene with laney and dallas together- in the dark auditorium when he asks her to show him. that was hot. i was afraid someone would walk in. damn punch. :)

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I cried...this is a timely novel) 『I always think I've found my favorite Barbara Mertz (Michaels) novel, but this one topped the rest. And I've now read them all I believe. :) If you love your country and despair of the direction in which we are going, this one is for you. It encouraged me to fight on for freedom and the dream that is America-- even 32 years after Michaels penned this! I love the twists and turns in the novel and the way that Michaels truly "gets" the sadness and glory of the human experience.
Michaels manages to squeeze in history, philosophy, mystery, suspense, theology, the occult, social critique, and romance into almost all of her novels. She is one of the most intelligent writers I've ever read. I always feel a pang after reading her novels because I'm running out of them, and I know she is getting older (she's in her early 80s). I will reread this one every year or so I know. I think this is my new favorite with 'Someone in the House' coming in at a close second-- just for the original ending she gave it. I have never found a writer to match her. Please, Ms. Mertz-- could you write a few more of the Michaels' novels??』
(great book) 『This was my very first Barbara Michaels book I ever read, and still one of my favorites! After this book I was hooked. It even inspired a vacation to Williamsburg.』
(more like a nightmare) 『I bought this book based on the reviews, etc. I was very disappointed, it was slow and very boring. I even read ahead thinking it might get interesting, but it was more of the same. I finally stopped reading it.』
(Addictive!!!) 『Whew! I feel like I've been caught in the middle of the main character's obsession. I found myself feeling much the same way Jan did--I just need to get through the everyday stuff before I can return to what's happening. I have never read any of Barbara Michaels' books before, but I can't wait correct that mistake :-)』
(Every library should include Barbara Michaels) 『read this gem over 15 years ago, it is remains one of my all-time favorites. I have read everything Ms. Michael's has ever written, with the exception of perhaps two of her books, and I have never been dissappointed. Her stories are compelling and gripping without gratuitious sex or violence, and parents, I encourage you to buy these books for your teens. Make sure you read them as well. Ms. Michaels is a consumate story teller and no personal library should be without at least two of her books!

I really liked the premise of this book; the french revolution and vampires--they were totally made for each other. But this was disappointing... Even so, the first half of it was good enough to make me go the distance. This is one of those books where the protagonists are required to be blind to the most obvious solutions for the plot to work, and man, it got really old. I was also sort of confused at the end, it was really convoluted and it went on for way too long. Then again, I didn't really care much by the time I got there; maybe you wont either. I've only read one other book of this lady's (One with the Shadows) and I remember it had some of the same problems (great premise, but turned out really mediocre). That said, it didn't suck, so maybe look for it (or that other one) at the library.』
(Eternity Redone - Time Traveling Vampires - It Doesn't Get Better Than This) 『Vampire Frankie (Françoise) has spent two centuries reviling her maker, Henri for turning her into a monster even though it was an accident, and Frankie can hardly believe it's even possible when she is offered the opportunity to go back in time to change her past. Frankie has fantasized that scenario over and over andknows just what she'll do, she'll kill the vampire before he can steal her humanity. But things don't go quite as planned when Frankie travels back to tumultuous time of the French Revolution, Frankie violates the basic rule of time traveling to one's own past - don't meet up with your past self.
I am not a big fan of Squires' Companions, but I may just have to rethink that statement, because Time for Eternity was simply wonderful. Without getting into too spoilerish detail, the melding of Frankie's past and future selves was really interesting way to handle the journey to the past and so much better than having the bitter future Frankie in full control able to execute her 'perfect' plan. Instead, giving Frankie just enough influence to open naïve Françoise's eyes to what she had missed the first time round - but leaving Françoise with her pristine heart in the driver seat - is really what made the story work so well. I also liked the way that Henri ends up a great hero as he is revealed to be not the devilish villain Frankie remembers but instead a noble immortal trying to make his endless existence count for something. And to add the finishing touch, the excellent development of the attraction between the pair delivered a satisfying romance with heart as well as plenty of steam.
I really loved Time for Eternity and now I am hooked and will have to watch for the next pair to get a second chance at happiness in a A Twist In Time coming March 2010. 』
(An eternally good read) 『I have been a fan of Susan Squires "Companion" vampire romance novels for a while now, so I was very excited to get this book. "Frankie" Suchet is a bartender that also happens to be a vampire. A chance encounter with another vampire leads to a discovery of a machine that can take her back in time to meet her vampire maker, Henri Foucault. Frankie hates Henri and life as a vampire-she decides to travel back in time so she can kill Henri before he makes her into a vampire. An intriguing beginning to a romance....
Squires has always enjoyed writing about history, and this book really does seem to take the reader back in time to 18th century Paris. The descriptions of the streets, main places and churces of Paris, France are incredible. She also enjoys using historical characters to tell the story. It takes place during the revolution, and Robespierre and his mistress Marta Croute are both characters. The time machine is by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Both of the fictional characters Frankie Suchet and Henri Foucault are well drawn and depicted, so much that a reader can imagine themself in the background watching everything. I also love how Squires interweaves some of the characters of "One with the darkness" ( Jergen and Donna Poliziano ) into this story.
I intended to read this book over a few days and then review it, but I was so entranced by the characters that I found myself reading it over the course of a few hours. It is a riveting and unpredictable tale. I can't wait until Squires next story in the series, "A twist in time," is released in March 2010.』
(xciting vampiric romance) 『In San Francisco, vampiric bartender Frankie Suchet was made during the French Revolution by Henri Foucault who deserted her soon afterward. Donna Poliziano enters the bar because she sensed a vamp inside. They discuss Henri but disagree as Donna thought he was good while Frankie believes he was evil. Donna sends her a book written by Leonardo Da Vince who built a time machine that needed the power of a vampire to work. It is under the Baphistery in Florence. Donna suggests she go back and correct the wrong as she did it to save her beloved Jergen (see ONE WITH THE DARKNESS). Frankie travels to Italy with plans to kill Henri before he changed her.
Frankie arrives in 1794 and sees naïve Francoise. Unable to stop Frankie ends up inside a bewildered Francoise. However, the young woman has no time to worry as her elderly companion Madam LaFleur was arrested and their house is on fire. She pleads with Duc Henri D'Avignon to save her life. He does by claiming her as his ward.Robespierre accepts Henri's lie, but his companion Madame Croute is irate. Henri takes his new ward home and tells her he will place her on his ship going to England next week. Henri thinks of making love to Francois as she seems a weird mix of innocence and experience. He knows he cannot save LaFleur but foolishly tries; however, her heart gives out. Meanwhile as naive Francois sees Henri's kindness; Frankie inside her head keeps telling her he is cruel and needs to die while Croute wants to execute both of them.
The intriguing premise of two Francoise essences sharing one body comes across as plausible while Henri is a sort of vampiric Scarlet Pimpernel although Frankie takes a long time to overcome her bitterness; in fairness she had over two centuries to build it up. Still fans will relish this exciting vampiric romance that mostly brings alive the deadly dangerous French Reign of Terror.

(4 1/2 stars -Vampires, revenge and time travel make for an alluring mix!) 『 Time for Eternity by Susan Squires Vampire Paranormal Romance- Sept. 1st, 2009 4½ stars.
This book combines 2 of my favorite genres vampire and time travel. Susan Squires guides the reader through a complex story that is sure to capture the imagination.
Frankie is vampire hardened and alone. Cruelly abandoned after being turned a vampire, she had to learn to tame her blood thirst the hard way and she has never forgiven her maker the Duke, Henri Foucault. If she could find him she would kill the selfish bastard herself! By lucky circumstance she is given the chance to travel back in time and Frankie is determined to find her maker, Henri and kill him before he turns her into a vampire and avert her suffering. Frankie arrives in France during the French revolution but in the wrong place! As she desperately travels to find the Duke she sees herself just before her past self meets him and discovers why you shouldn't meet yourself in time. Once she sees herself, her essence is absorbed into her innocent and naïve past persona. This wouldn't be a problem except her younger self is mesmerized by the Duke and will not listen to the pleas and warnings her future self tries to warn her of.
This was an exciting book as I tried to figure out how this story could be resolved. I enjoyed the heroine's journey. It was intriguing as Frankie discovers new depths to the Duke and we find the true reasons behind his actions. The heroine was extremely likeable and gutsy and I enjoyed how the author delicately balanced the time travel within the storyline. The future Frankie changed the past Frankie developing her into a stronger and more intriguing woman. One who transformed history for the better. Henri is: handsome, bold, and noble. He is also very lonely and needed Frankie's light and belief in him to feel human after so many years alone. I particularly loved how the story reveals a different side of Henri and how he changes and grows even as Frankie does. Unlike some stories where I feel the time travel aspect is thrown in, this story needed the time travel for the true potential of both main characters to be realized. Rarely do you read such a large alteration in one character, much less 2. And for my part, this was the best part of the story. This is a novel that will certainly keep you intrigued and wanting to finish it that day to find out how it will end.

Unfortunately the characters didn't work for me. I liked the heroine, but the guy was terrible. Ms. Brown's book "What Would Jane Austen Do" was just as good and I look forward to seeing if she writes anymore books with similar settings.』
(A very good romantic paranormal read w/ historical fiction elements as well) 『I had never read anything by Laurie Brown prior to this book, but was intrigued by the possibility of a historical paranormal romance - all those elements in one book just HAD to be a fun read.
The characters, albeit not entirely three dimensional, did tend to follow the normal patterns of behavior and were not jumping into bed two seconds after meeting. (I really hate it when writers rush the beginning feelings of love - that's the best part!) The relationship did actually develop over the course of the book, which always seems to enhance the inevitable declaration of love toward the end of the story.
I was very impressed by the accuracy of the customs of the time period. It was obvious that the writer went to great lengths to have those particulars covered. The extra effort added to the appeal of the setting, and at times I really did feel like the character - an average everyday girl trapped in a time period you had to see to believe. I also appreciated the language used, and felt that it only added to the allure of the time period.
I would say that this is a great read for anyone who wants a good twist on an old romance story.... although the climax of the story does follow a bit of a Scooby-esk feel, it is still a fun read that is easily enjoyed without much effort. If you have the time and want just a fun historical romance/ paranormal romance book, pick this one up for sure!』
(5 stars) 『Josie Drummond finds herself not only hired by a ghost, but as part of her work, taking a trip back in time to prevent her employer, Deverell Thornton, the Ninth Earl of Waite, from meeting with a ruinous event. A modern woman in the Regency era is somewhat of a fish out of water, but with the help of Deverell the ghost and her own wits, she manages. She also begins to fall in love with the living man, Dev, who is in his own way as charming as the ghost he will become. Romance might be the angle she would like best to pursue, but there are mysteries to solve, a fraud to unmask, and she does need to decide which version of the Earl of Waite she belongs with, all before Deverell's power is exhausted and she has no hope of ever returning home.
***** Combining multiple unusual plot devices into a compelling romance that sweeps across the centuries, Ms. Brown gives her readers a fascinating story filled with twists and surprises, particularly the startling ending. Josie's love triangle is perhaps the one that of all literary triangles can be considered truly unique. How many people fall in love with the same man, but have to choose which version of him to be with? Though this is clearly a satisfyingly complete tale that leaves little to no room for it to become a series, readers will want to keep their eye out for more from this talented author, at least this one shall. *****

I have not read the previous books in this viking series, but it really didn't matter. They can be read out of order. (I also recommend her Cajun series for some funny stories of hot alpha males. They are delicious stories. Yum!)
I know some reviews comment about some aspects of the story is hard to believe or may be too far fetched, but then what do you expect when you read fiction comedy that includes a time traveling viking warrior lady who spent the last 2 years in 9 different harems? When reading Sandra Hill, you need to suspend your belief of reality and just let the story take you for a fun ride.』
(Love and Laughter for Time Traveling Lady Viking and Navy SEAL Commander) 『2005 A.D.: Operation Rodent finds Navy SEAL Lieutenant Ian MacLean and his team parachuting into Northern Iraq to take out the "big rat" tango Jamal ben Hassan. The insertion had gone smoothly. No reason to expect complications until Ian discovered a woman in a cave who he is convinced is the terrorist leader's lover, Yasmine. Ian is 34, single and content with his status having recently ended an engagement, due to his fiancé's cheating. Never in a million years had he expected himself to be turned on by his filthy, smelly, shrew of a hostage.
1013 A.D.: One by one Madrene Olgadottir's family members had vanished leaving her alone to defend Norstead. She was a fighter to the bone but had been no match for Steinolf the Vicious. After she'd refused to wed with him, knowing that to do so would bring her men out of hiding and ultimate end in their deaths, Steinolf had beaten the proud woman and had paraded her bound and naked through the keep. But even this rude treatment had not cowed her. She had wed once, and never would again. Defeated, Steinolf had sold her to a harem as a concubine. Over the next three years she'd been sold repeatedly, but thanks to her cunning she'd never been raped. Over time she'd perfected a ritual guaranteed to shrivel a man's "dangly parts". That's what she'd told the Troll who had discovered her in the cave she'd hidden in to regroup after escaping from the latest harem. Her only goal is to return home to Norstead to avenge herself on Steinolf. If agreeing to be the woman these barmy seals are looking for will get her as far as Baghdad then she would gladly pretend to be Yasmine.
Ian is pretty sure they've made a big mistake once the woman is cleaned up. There's something familiar about her, like they've met before. This is confirmed when the real Yasmine is sighted elsewhere. However the big brass has plans to smoke out the terrorist cell by using their captive as bait and they want the confrontation to take place on home territory. The most expedient way to get Madrene to the U.S. is for her to marry a U.S. citizen. Given no choice, Ian bites the bullet knowing that the marriage can be easily annulled later.
NOT! He hadn't counted on the strength of their mutual attraction. He finds Maddie irresistible and her ritual has absolutely no effect on his member, not that she really wants it to. But adjusting to this new world is going to take some doing, could it be true that she's time traveled more than a thousand years into the future? If not, can she convince Ian to help her raise an army to take back Norstead? Or will he take just her to a doctor and have her head shrunken? One thing for sure, she is totally head over hills in love with the Troll and the feeling is definitely mutual.
If you've read the previous four titles in the series, you probably know it's only a matter of time before the family shrew meets up with her long lost Magnusson kin. It's sure to give poor Ian a headache especially when he realizes that his own sister has been keeping the huge family secret. But never fear as with all of Ms. Hill's Viking tales, love and laughter is guaranteed. Another hilarious keeper.
Reviewed for PNR Reviews』
(Seals and vikings oh my!) 『What the heck do you expect from Sandra Hill - anything less than excellence? As usual, an awesome viking/seal adventure just waiting for you to buy it, take it home and treat it right - read it!! But pay attention: this is a fantasy so don't expect reality; suspend belief (such as "there is no such thing as time travel") and just ENJOY the book. If you don't like fantasy, don't buy then review the book in a negative; that's not fair. Warning: sex scenes are R.』
(good dialogue) 『This is my first Sandra Hill. I am pleasantly surprised. the humor was good and realistic. sure a little far-fetched but very enjoyable. I am calling borders now to order the rest.』
(Really a 3 1/2) 『 I had some problems with this book: 1. The whole marriage thing was pretty far fetched. 2. Maddie should think about breast reduction surgery since we heard about the size of her breasts constantly. 3. She was a shrew; she was always shrieking about something&never shut up. I'm surprised Ian didn't wear ear plugs around her. 4. This is the same problem I have with many books. The male and female leads have an area of expertise due to career, training, etc. Yet one of the leads, usually the female, refuses to let that person call the shots, even though in that particular area, THEY KNOW MORE. EX: Maddie knows squat about the 21st century, has no clue about covert ops. Yet every time Ian tells her to do/not do something that he knows will be dangerous she pouts, is insulted, says it's because she's a woman and if at all possible does it anyway. Completely irresponsible, particularly as her acts can put people in a lot of danger. If she were a photographer&told Ian not to open the darkroom door she'd expect him to adhere to what she says because SHE KNOWS more about it.
I would have given it a three but I enjoyed the follow up on the earlier stories in the series and I like Sandra Hill's writing style. 』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (I FOUND THE PERFECT TIME TRAVEL ROMANCE!!!) 『I have searched and searched for a time-travel love story that is not only believable but moving also. BINGO!! Found it! Nora Roberts did a spectacular job of explaining her time travel concept without giving her readers a headache by over doing it. She always does an exceptional job with her romance stories so of course that part of the book was perfect. All in all...an excellent book that I am going to read many times over.』
(Time and Again) 『I am a long-time fan of Nora Roberts. Somehow I missed the 2 novels in Time and Again (Time Was, pub.1989and Times Change, pub. 1990). As usual I really enjoyed both. One of my favorite things about Amazon.com is that I can find books that are out of print or unavailable elsewhere. I also appreciate your timely delivery.』
(Two time-travel romances.) 『This is an omnibus re-issue of two titles (Time Was and Times Change), they were originally written in 1989 and 1990, which occasionally shows in the depiction of what the people from the future use as slang.
The first, Time Was, is a story of a man, Caleb Hornblower, who finds himself in the past after an accidental encounter with a meteor storm. His ship crashes and he finds himself sheltering from a snow storm with Liberty Stone. As he tries to work out how to get back to his own time he finds himself torn between his own time and her time.
The Second, Times Change, is the story of Caleb's brother Jacob when he comes to find his brother in the past. He finds the cabin and Sunny Stone, Liberty's sister.
These two stories play with some SF themes but are more Romance than SF and are earlier Nora Roberts so they're not as sure or as polished as newer works, still they're fun and there are many younger writers writing worse.』
(I've read this book time and "time and again!") 『These are two stories of brothers who love each other and their parents very much and live in the 23rd century. The sisters they will meet live in the 1980's and were brought up by parents who married very young and were part of the "hippie/flower child" movement.
Any time (no pun intended) you see a book about time travel, you really MUST suspend your belief system as this is FANTASY and science FICTION. I think many reviewers have forgetten that fact! For me, I enjoyed the wonderful character development in these two stories as we get to know Caleb and Libby before they get together and also Jacob and Sunny. We also get to meet a learn a little about Libby and Sunny's parents.
The fun of the future and time travel makes a great vehicle for these stories but what really makes them stick with me are knowing and rooting for the characters!! I have re-read these a couple of times just for the enjoyment.
Lighten up and have fun with these stories!!』
(Time And Again: Time Was/Times Change) 『This is one of my all time favorite Nora Roberts books. I have read these two stories at least five times each. They are captivating and absolute page turners. What I find truly interesting is the fact that even though these were written some years ago some of Nora's predictions about the future are coming to fruition (for example, taking medication by tabs on the tongue). The stories are of two brothers that travel through time, the first one by mistake and then the second brother to find the first and each finding their "match" outside their own century. As always, Ms. Roberts paints such vivid tales that the reader is truly taken on a journey with each story. I cannot recommend this book enough.』 『New York Timesbestselling authorNora Robertsenchants readers once again with two unique and intriguing classic tales about passion so powerful it transcends time itself!
Time Was Stranded in the present, time traveler Caleb Hornblower's biggest problem wasn't returning to the twenty-third century -- it was falling in love with the beguiling Liberty Stone, who showed him a love more powerful than time itself. Though he belonged in the future, how could he leave the past -- and Liberty -- behind?
Times Change Cynical Jacob Hornblower had followed his brother Caleb into the past, hoping to lure him back home. But his mission was soon forgotten when he found himself captivated by Liberty's spitfire sister, Sunny. Can a man who is down on love understand the truly timeless power of the human heart?』
