(Exciting and Brilliant - Terror on the high seas.)

(A rip-roaring, bodice tearing good time!)

(High Seas Adventure)

(Shiver Me Timbers...)

(Captivating)
I initially didnt think I would like reading about female pirates. Oh how wrong I was.
This book was so captivating I read it form start to end in one sitting. I couldnt put it down.
To the Author I say, Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou...for taking me on this journey. You had me on the edge of my seat, and even caused me to fall out of bed laughing at one stage (this is true BTW).
I find it amazing that new authors can develop a
character, who in any other circumstance would be considered and evil
person, and tell their story in such a way that I feel myself cheering
for them in such a 'hero-worship' sort of way.
I was so happy when the stow away was bought back into the story
after her initial meeting with Ann.
Shannon's descriptive talents had me believing that 'black-dog' actually
existed and I want just reading fiction.
Devlyn

You won't be able to put it down but force yourself to since this book doesn't deserve to be read in one night. Think of it as an old fashioned serial adventure where you read a couple chapters, put it down, come back, re-read a little bit as a recap and move on to the next couple chapters. I haven't had this much funny since I was a kid and watched Errol Flynn/Basil Rathbone movies on Sunday afternoons. It is even all the better with interesting female characters winding their way through a rigorous plot. Maybe I exaggerated there were some stops in between with Aliens and BSG, but you get the idea. Anyway there has been nothing but pirates out our house for the last few weeks and the kids love it, less the bad behavior after 9 PM. Congratulations to the author for keeping the seafaring details to a minimum and sticking to the adventure with only a couple lapses in attention.

Good show and bring on some more!

A historical romance set during the buccaneer years of the Carribean. Young Violet soon becomes a widow and captive of the ruthless Branded Ann. Her life aboard is one of hardship, danger and trying to fathom the enigma that is Branded Ann.

Both protective and seemingly indifferent, Ann finds herself strangely drawn to the defiant Violet while she tries to remain true to her ship's Articles of Confederation, keeping the superstitious crew at bay and carrying on her mission to discover the treasure of the notorious Black Dog.

Each woman has deep secrets within their lives and it is their gradual revelation that makes this story more than an adventure tale and weaves into it the need to trust and respect.

Ms. Shannon moves the story along nicely and doesn't overwhelm with dialogue from the time period. She has just enough twists and turns to be plausible, and entertaining. Definitely a good read

Making a name for herself as a writer of historical (fantasy) fiction, Merry Shannon has delivered another winner with `Branded Ann.' Ann is a universally-feared pirate on a mission to find her father's gold. In doing so, she captures the seemingly-pious Violet.

The members of Ann's crew believe women are bad luck to pirates, but their captain insists on letting Violet live and work on board. Protecting Violet from the attentions of the male crew, Ann claims her as her own. As they continue their voyage, Violet's not-so-pious past comes to light. Eventually, she and Ann come to an understanding and begin to rely on each other for survival.

A typical pirates-looking-for-treasure story has been wonderfully written to draw the reader in and keep her focused. I started this book on Saturday morning and finished it before bedtime. Although I had other activities on my agenda, the book quickly became top priority. This one is hard to put down one you start, so find a comfy place to curl up and enjoy.

This book isn't for everyone. It's gritty, very gritty. Unlike most lesbian fiction where a main character starts out evil then immediately their true heart-of-gold comes out when they meet their true love, Captain Ann is a cold-blooded, ruthless pirate, and remains so throughout the book. Even when dealing with Violet, she doesn't soften. Eventually, we are allowed to see what motivates her and in some cases it is surprising. Actions that we would believe unimaginably cruel she finds to be difficult but necessary and sometimes even compassionate.

As the story unfolds, we begin to learn more about the two main characters, Captain Ann and Violet. Every person is a composite of their own experiences, and this is quite true in this book. Both appear at first to be quite simplistic. Slowly their layers are exposed to the reader, but only to the reader. Each layer is carefully pealed away. I said that Captain Ann remains a cold-blooded, ruthless pirate - but that's not entirely true. They both change over the course of the story. Yet every change follows a natural progression, with reasonable and logical justifications.

One thing I really enjoyed about this story is its intensity. This story had just the right amount of tension to keep me reading, but not so much as to make me check the back of the book to see how it ended. When that happens, I generally find I can't finish the book.

Almost everything that happens is foreshadowed, but only slightly. It was just enough that, in retrospect, you could say "I should have seen that coming;" yet not enough so you knew everything before it happened. In fact, there was only one event that I saw clearly when it was foreshadowed - but that was partly due to the synopsis on the back of the book. Other events took me completely by surprise and, in fact, shocked me.

If I had to include a criticism of this book it would be...
I honestly can't think of any.
This is only Merry Shannon's second book. I found her first to be exceptional as well, but this one completely blows me away. I can only look forward to more books from her.

My standard disclaimer - I only give reviews/recommendations of books I consider exceptional.

No pirate on the high seas is more bloodthirsty than the notorious Branded Ann, a woman with eyes like ice and a face marred by a mysterious cross-shaped scar. When she raids a merchant vessel bound for Jamaica, her only objective is to obtain the map that will lead her to a legendary treasure. But she hadn't bargained on taking Violet, the merchant's young widow, on board her ship as a prisoner. In spite of her childlike appearance, Violet has a dark side of her own that Ann finds both infuriating and endearing.

As Branded Ann sails in search of treasure, her task is made more difficult by a stowaway child, an increasingly rebellious crew, and the treacherous seas of the Devil's Triangle; to make matters worse, she finds herself falling for her not-so-innocent but altogether charming captive. But will Violet be able to overcome the demons of her past and accept Ann's love? And will they survive the treasure hunt that has already claimed the lives of so many before them?

(CATHYS REVIEW)

(Wonderful reading!)

(Roughhousing by Laura Baumbach)

(Sequel to A Bit of Rough)

(Hot Enough to burn your screen....)
GREAT BOOK. MALE AND MALE LOVE AND LEARNING TO LOVE AND TRUST. HAD SUSPENSE. A GREAT LOVE STORY AND IT ENDING GOOD.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It did live up to my expectations as a sequel and will be re-read alot in future years. I'm buying EVERYTHING this author writes!!
Laura hit it again: here we have a well built novel. The story is the sequel of A Bit of Rough and we find our characters, Bram and Jamie, only some day after the end of the first novel.

Even if they have met together only some weeks ago, Bram wants a strong commitment than Jamie is unsecure: how is it possible that he succeded to find the true love! He is unworthy of a man so perfect like Bram and so he tries to run away.

But Bram understands very well his Jamie, and there is no way he allows him to leave. He obliges Jamie to "accept" their love: Jamie wants a rough hand in bed, but not in his life, but maybe, sometimes, it is necessary that Bram uses his strenght also outside the bedroom.

Really, if you are an independent woman, you can find Bram's behaviour a little overwhelmed... but he is so tender, and caring and he talks! A man who want to talk of his feelings! Unbelievable!

Roughhousing is the perfect sequel to another perfect book.

If you've been wondering how the lovers from A Bit of Rough have been getting on, this continuation is hot enough to make you glad you followed their story.

[..]
Present Day

Although they've been together for only a few weeks, Bram Lord knows deep in his heart that architect James Justin is The One - the partner Bram wants to spend the rest of his life with. From the top of his curly head to the tips of his toes, Bram thinks every inch of his Jamie is adorable and sexy. While submissive to Bram in the bedroom (not to mention the truck and various alleyways), James has his own career and is determined to make a success of it, which is another facet of his lover that Bram finds hugely arousing. Now, if only the brawny contractor can convince his shy lover of his worth.

Brutally disowned by most of his family when they found out he was gay, James has emotional wounds that still haven't healed and they leave him vulnerable, prone to doubt and determined to maintain some semblance of independence from his charismatic lover. Brushing aside Bram's thinly veiled hints to move in with him after he loses his apartment, James goes out and gets himself a new place. Meanwhile, when Bram boasts to James' boss about the work he's done on a project and it suddenly gets assigned to him, James quickly jumps to the conclusion that Bram is pulling strings to further his career. Confronting Bram at his office, James realizes just how successful his lover is and starts to wonder what Bram sees in him. Rather than watch Bram slowly realize his inadequacies, James pulls back. Will his self-destructive behavior and low esteem finally push Bram away?

ROUGHHOUSING continues right where A BIT OF ROUGH left off. Bram and James still have a lot of ground to cover on their path to true love and happily ever after. Bram is the quintessential alpha lover - larger than life, sexy as sin, and possessed of a compassionate heart that's willing to love the insecurity out of his lover. Bram is willing and able to be everything that James needs, making him a perfect fit for the angst-ridden architect. James is working hard at overcoming his insecurities, though he falls off the wagon every so often - but that's okay, Bram's shoulders are wide enough to share his burden. Laura Baumbach does a great job at detailing both heroes thought processes (especially James), so readers can delve into their psyches and see what makes them tick. As for the love scenes, they are hot enough to burn out your screen with just the right amount to kink to kick it up a notch.

Man love in all its glory, ROUGHHOUSING is one for the keeper shelf.

[..]

James and Bram are back in this sequel to the bestselling A Bit of Rough! They've been dating a while now, but James is still unsure about his feelings for Bram. He's rushed into things before, and it's always backfired on him, so James wants to take it slow. Bram is so forceful, though, so sexy and convincing that it's hard to stand fast against him. In fact, Bram is the one steady thing in James' life, when everything else seems to be shifting like sand under his feet. His job is getting stressful, his apartment is getting dangerous, and James knows he's teetering on the brink of change, but is unsure what to choose. When a project at work seems to have fallen under Bram's influence through the old boy network, James decides to back off and tell Bram they have to cool down their heated relationship. Bram is willing to accommodate James.to a point. But what happens when self-assured Bram has had enough of James' insecurity? Taking up where A Bit of Rough left off, Roughhousing opens up Bram and James' relationship, following along as they become a real couple, and face the troubles that come from trying to blend two lives and two independent personalities. Their need for each other burns as hot as ever, but will that be enough to build a life on?

(Enjoyable and Informative)

(Very helpful)

(Mistress enjoyed this book)

(Why Didn't Anyone think of this before?)

(Got male parts or play with them? This book is for you!)
I found this book to be easy to read, well organized and very informative for the beginner. It covers safety issues and guidelines, as well as offers suggestions for play. Im glad I purchased this book!
My wife loved the book and has found it very informative. She was not aware that she knew so much through our trial and error methods, but now more errors....just more fun.
I Purchased this book for my Mistress. She read it entirely in one sitting! She very much enjoyed the look on my face as she described what she had read.
Let's get all the cliches out of the way first. "The Family Jewels" is a gem. It is precise, finely cut to spec and invaluable. In fact, the first time I laid eyes on it, my first thought was, why didn't anyone think of this before?

Hardy Haberman has filled a void in the SM literary canon that not only give tips to the experienced edge player, but to beginners as well. There are also a few chunks of anecdotal scene evidence to add the touch of hard-on reading that any book of this nature needs to keep the entertainment value at a maximum.

You may not be familiar with Mr. Haberman, who considers himself a "Pain Technologist." He specializes in CBT and has an unusual fondness for clips, clamps and clothespins, as well as more exotic SM play. I recommend this book to anyone with even a passing interest in learning about esoteric genital play.

When we hear or see the term CBT we think"torture"and that usually makes us all cross our legs. But Haberman's book is really focused on creating intense or simply pleasureable sensations for male genitals in ways that do not involve intercourse. The book has four main divisions: anatomy, safety (please don't skip over this one), basics&toys of CBT, and finally a collection of nine short stories to demostrate the first three sections. The stories aren't really arousing, they are more instructive. If CBT is something you've thought about but know little about, this is a great place to get information. Read it with your partner and you can figure out what he is interested in.

(Help for Parents)

(DANGEROUS AND HARFUL)

(Things We Must Not Forget)

(This book is a gift.)
As a parent, I found this book to be extremely helpful. Mr. Dallas recognizes that each person will make their own decisions. We can't make decisions for them but we can control how we respond to them.

The most meaningful line in the book for me is this: "You may never agree on this issue, but you are committed to not letting this disagreement ruin your relationship." This focused my attitude on what had to happen so that I could live in peace with my child. Mr. Dallas helped me see how I could continue to show love for my child without comprimising my values.

I really liked the practcal advise in this book. There is a chapter on negotiating family boundries. He has some good suggestions for respecting everyones beliefs and comfort. I do not need to constantly tell my child my views on homosexuality; I have already told her. He also instructs us how to ask children about our fears for their lives as a homosexual person such as AIDS, drugs, and promiscuity. These things may or may not be a part of the person's life. It is ok to ask; your fears may be relieved. The book helped me feel more comfortable with asking questions about my child's life.

The book also talks about the possible causes of homosexuality. Is it genetic or environmental? He takes a more balanced aproach to this than most of the information I have read. He basically says that it is likely a combination of both factors.

I felt quite a bit of relief from reading this book. It is in line with my evangelical Christian belief system, but doesn't demand that I change my child. Mr. Dallas shows compassion for the gay person and his/her family members.

This book is directed toward Chrisians with a literal interpretation of the Bible. If you are not in this catagory you may disagree with the book. If you are in pain, because homosexuality conflicts with your Biblical views, it mahy help.

As a licensed professional counselor, I encourage my clients to not purchase a pre-packaged belief system, but instead engage in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning in their lives. As such, I refrain from passing judgment on the beliefs that others choose and instead celebrate the colorful diversity that is found in the tapestry of human ideology. Nevertheless, when I am confronted with principles that are destructive and harmful to the human spirit, I feel compelled, as a health care professional and as a human being, to speak out against such wickedness.

While one's sexual activities and behavior may vary over the course of a lifetime, one's sexual orientation does not. Requiring that individuals whose sexual orientation is something other than heterosexual "change" or "heal" is no different than Hitler requiring that those with the wrong eye color, the wrong hair color, or the wrong family lineage be exterminated. One does not need to "heal" or be "cured" from something that is not an illness. This book does not simply state an alternative opinion on homosexuality; it causes significant and severe damage to the psyche of those who know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that, even if they can change their activity, they cannot change who they are at their core. Rather than offering the hope and healing it claims to provide, this book inflicts emotional violence on its readers.

Everyone has a right to his or her own beliefs. In the case of this book, the author has chosen to act on his beliefs. Discriminatory acts, based on prejudice, have a damaging effect on the lives of innocent people--they hurt, they demean, they humiliate, they wound, and sometimes they kill. I do not accept the label "religious" to excuse beliefs and actions that are designed to hurt people. Is religion about abusing others? Is that part of the moral game plan--demonize people who are different from you, condemn them and exalt yourself in the name of a religious conviction?

When I walk into the music store with my 13-year-old daughter to buy a CD, I notice that some of the CD's are labeled with "warning" stickers. As a parent, I appreciate this so I can steer my daughter toward purchases that will fill her mind and soul with affirmative messages. This book needs to come with a similar "warning" sticker, for anyone who reads it is going to be a victim of emotional and spiritual abuse by the worst kind of perpetrator...a bigoted wolf in sheep's clothing!

This book made it clear that the performance of homosexual acts is sinful. Those with same-sex attractions carry daily the cross of a disordered condition they did not choose and science still doesn't know the cause of. Homosexuals who takes seriously the requirement to order their lives as best they can to live celibately should never forget that they are guilty of no sin for making these efforts, and are as infinitely loved by God as are all human beings. You do the best you can with the "hand you're dealt" in life, and in the end all will be well, exceedingly well.

The worst we could do to a homosexual family member would be to reject them or love them any less, especially by pushing unproven reparative therapy to change their orientation which is permanent for true homosexuals, regardless if ultimately pronounced heterosexual behavior is clearly exhibited. The psychic damage done in trying to coerce someone to change the unchangeable is cruel, unconscionable, and in no way remotely consistent with Christianity.

Yes, the goal for permanently homosexual Christians, as it is for unmarried heterosexual Christians, is the same as it was for Jesus Christ: celibacy. Not a bad role model.

I have really struggled with my thoughts and feelings about how to respond to a loved one who recently announced they were gay. I spent many hours considering how to engage in a way that was both loving and true to my own, strongly held, Christian beliefs.

This book is a real gift for those of us who hear the words, "I'm gay." Joe Dallas is Biblically centered (I believe), sensitive, and steadfast. I found particularly helpful chapters that speak specifically to moms and dads, brothers and sisters, spouses, and extended families.

The heart–wrenching declaration that a loved one is a homosexual is increasingly being heard in Christian households across America. How can this be? What went wrong?  Is there a cure?

In this straightforward book, Joe Dallas offers practical counsel, step by step, on how to deal with the many conflicts and emotions parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters or any family member will experience when learning of a loved one’s homosexuality.

Drawing from his own experience and from his many years of helping families work through this perplexing and unexpected situation, Joe offers scriptural and compassionate advice to both struggling gays and those who love them.

(serious, if flawed)

(Insightful and Great for Younger Generation to Read)

(Full Circle)

(Ultimately, a frustrating book)

(A True Gay Classic)
"Full Circle" is a serious attempt to write a historic gay novel that covers the last half of the 20th century. In this it reminds me of, but is not as successful as, Felice Picano's "Like People in History." Ford's book reads too much like a timeline, going from major event to major event, with a liberal dose of unnecessary detail along the way. At times it seems like the author is simply lecturing, almost forgetting that these are the words of Ned, his narrator. The book's story, the relationship among three long-time friends, is too slight to carry the weight of the intended epic sweep, and they are moved around like chess pieces to make sure they are present at all the landmark occasions. The trivia that gets thrown in -- the co-librettists of "La Boheme," the man who introduced eucalyptus trees to California, the statistical makeup of Vietnam soldiers -- is a distraction.

That said, the book is still absorbing when it centers on the main characters, whose relationships are well-depicted. Jack and Andy are convincingly drawn, though Ned is little more than a foil for his more colorful friends. At times his behavior isn't exemplary, but the author wants to portray an attitude that was prevalent at the time, so Ned must step up. And while I'm sure that somewhere in America a gay boy dropped out of college to enlist in the Army and fight in Vietnam, as a college student at the time, I find it hard to believe.

(Ford is hardly alone among current writers who no longer make the correct distinction among I/me/myself, but because this is a first-person narrative, the constant errors are an irritant to anyone sensitive to this usage.) "Full Circle" would have been more successful had it been shortened and condensed, as the central story was compelling. It is my first exposure to this author, and I will seek out his other books.

I enjoyed this book and looked forward to getting back to it before bed each night. Each section is full of interesting historic insights that should be a must read for the younger generation, especially those that deal with the reality of AIDS in the 80s and the devestation it bought on the gay community. Other areas of interest were the Harvey Milk assasination and Vietnam. While this book cover's a gay man's coming of age and his life journey the historic fabric is what I found to be of most interest. It is easy to forget the past and I think it is vital for the younger generation to learn the struggles of the brave members of generations past that have made being a Gay American, a better place for all. We still have a long way to go but the last 30 years have bought about sweeping changes. Enjoy the book, it is worth reading.
When a story hits home, then that's the making of great literature. The characters are in their prime of life, learning to cope as they grow olders. Mistakes are made, but can be overcome. Excellent reading.
I really give this ambitous, but (for me) ultimately frustrating book 2 1/2 stars, but I've rounded up. I did enjoy the early sections of the novel, which focused on the youth, college and army experiences of Ned, the main character. But once Ned leaves the army and moves to San Francisco, I grew frustrated with what seemed like an endless series of what I call "and thens." What I mean is that the story just became "and then I did this" "and then I met so and so" "and then I started taking drugs," etc. It seemed like highlights of someone's diary who is overly melodramatic and inevitably falls back on clichés.

There also is a strong tendency for the narrator to get very didactic--giving little history lessons on agent orange or the Golden Gate Bridge. Perhaps understandable as he's a history teacher, but I found it very off putting.

Most annoying of all, though, is the endless references to the pop culture and history of the particular moment. Yes, I get it was the late 70's; do we have to have you snorting coke while listening to Sylvester, thinking about Harvey Milk, watching Star Wars, reading "Tales from the City," having promiscuous sex and hating Anita Bryant?

I see I'm in the minority here, and I can understand why others might enjoy it, but I found "Full Circle" a let down.

I've read Michael Thomas Ford's other books and was entertained and moved by such a talented and wonderful author. Sure, Last Summer and Looking For It could be called beach novels but the author seems to grow and mature with each new novel he publishes. And with Full Circle, I often wonder if this is his masterpiece or just a taste of the wonderful books to come. Upon picking up this beautiful piece of work, I found that I could not put it down! I was truly fascinated by the characters; cared for them. The historical references were remarkable and the plot just moves forward at an even pace that depicts the lives of these gay men through the rich, complicated and convoluted past of gay history. It has been a year since I read this novel but I gave a copy to my best friend last night as a gift and plan to give another copy to another friend in the near future. Michael Thomas Ford has become one of my all time favorite writers and I'm at present reading his most recent novel Changing Tides. Again: another beautiful piece of work!!!!!
In novels such as Last Summer and Looking For It, Michael Thomas Ford has honestly and lovingly explored the intimate details of gay men's lives, from hot sex and lasting relationships to friendship and the search for family. Now he's crafted his most extraordinary novel yet, a powerful saga of three friends and lovers whose story spans decades and whose bonds have finally come Full Circle.

History professor Ned Brummel is living happily with his partner of twelve years in small-town Maine when he receives a phone call from his estranged friend—Jack—telling him that another friend—Andy—is very ill and possibly near death. It is news that shatters the peace of his world for many reasons. And as Ned boards a plane to Chicago on his way to his friend's bedside, he embarks on another journey into memory, examining the major events and small moments that have shaped his world and his relationships with these two very different, very important men.

Growing up together through the restrictive 1950's and confusing `60's, Jackson "Jack" Grace and Ned Brummel took solace in their love for each other. But once they arrive at college in 1969 and meet handsome farm boy Andy Kowalski, everything changes. Despite Andy's apparent heterosexuality, both Jack and Ned fall hard for him, straining their close friendship. Soon, the three men will become involved in a series of intense liaisons and bitter betrayals, coming together and flying apart, as they alternately hurt, love, shape, and heal one another over the course of years. From the heady, drug- and sex-fueled days of San Francisco in the wild seventies to the haunting spectre of AIDS in the eighties and the righteous activism of the nineties, their relationship transforms and grows, reflecting the changes going on around them. Now, together again in the most crucial and intimate of settings, Ned, Jack, and Andy have another chance to confront the damage of the past and embrace the bonds of friendship and love that have stood the test of time.

Full Circle is a wonderfully moving chronicle of three friends that is also an unflinching, triumphant celebration of the power of gay friendships, of the deep bonds forged despite strong obstacles, and of the love that is ultimately the most important thing we can ever share.

(This is a must read!!!!!!!)

(You'll fall in love with Heaven Sent)

(Heaven Sent 2 by Jet Mykles)
Hell: The story is cute as the two figure out that yes they are attracted and have common interests. Rather than a standard boy meets boy, boy falls in love with boy. and boy lives happily ever after wtih boy we had extra drama when Brent has dificulty coming to terms with the relationship and his sexuality.

Faith: Faith starts off with a relationship going bad and then a divorce. Through the course of the divorce Darien starts to realize he is attracted to the attorney and by the time the divorce is final he propositions the attorney. As it turns out Chris (the attorney) was hurt in the past and so Darien finally confronts Chris to make him see that Darien does love him and that he isn't the other guy. Finally breaking through Chris's fear he admits that he too loves Darien.

Both stories are very good but I find myself identifying with the second one more. (everybody needs a cute lawyer)

If you like M/M then you have to read this book. Please read Heaven and Purgatory first... and don't be put off by any religious connotation. These books are hot and fast paced. I have really enjoyed all of Jet Mykles books, but I love, love, love this series. I first purchased the books individually from Loose Id as e-books but when I had a problem with my computer - and had not backed it up - I ordered these. This series was one I was unable to chance losing. If you like M/M, you need this.
I first got to read and fall for the guys of Heaven Sent in e-book form, and when I found out they were being published in hard book form...I ordered them the day they became availble. This second in the Heaven Sent world, has Brent and Daren's stories. You will fall for these lovely rockers, I promise!
Hell (Heaven Sent 3) by Jet Mykles
Brent is a very talentuous guy, handsome but not beautiful, and not an alpha male. He is happy to lve among his friends and to let them drive his life. He was also the Luc's fuck buddy before push him to Reese, the real love. And he is happy for his friend, but old memories still prevent him to have a real story for himself, memories of girls first, and guys after, who walk across him to reach Luc and Johnnie. He really can't think that someone could love him when he has the change to meet the others.

But then arrives Hell, a cute guy with a cherub face and a demon behaviour. He is short and slim, but has a strong attitude. Even if Brent is greater in body, is Hell who lead their relationship. He doesn't accept a "no" and doesn't want nothing less love. And wants Brent, only for him. And what he wants, he gets.

These are two wonderful characters, who play with the yaoi rule of cute=bottom, tall=top. Hell, believe me, is not a bottom at all, and when he bottoms, he is a pushy bottom! Brent instead is like a real artist, good in his art, his world, but feared by the outside world: he needs someone who drives him and who feels him important and unique.

Faith (Heaven Sent 4) by Jet Mykles
Bingo! The last story (I really hope not) in the Heaven Sent series tells us about Darien. He is an hearthy guy, kind and funny, a real next door boy. He wants make no harm, but he feels pretty alone among all his paired friends. So he suddenly decides to marry. But he puts no heart in the matter and obviously thing goes wrong.

Helping him in dealing the divorce there is Christopher Faith, a good friend of Hell. Chris is openly gay, but he doesn't flaunt it around. He is pretty sure of his own and is a quite and handsome guy. Darien is fascinating. He has ever admited that a guy could be handsome, like Johnnie or Luc, but he has never felt something near sexual for them. But Chris is another matter. Darien wants him and can see that also Chris is attracted... so no harm to noone if they enjoy themself, isn't it?

But when things go further than a sexual fling, it is time for Darien to read really inside himself and for Chris to admit that it is not only sex with Darien. With trust and faith they can build something together.

Darien is really tender character. He has not bad feelings, he is really a good boy. Everyone likes him, and I'm no different. You can't dislike him, it is like hating a puppy or a kitten. He looks at you with big eyes and you are smitten. Like Chris.

Chris is a surprise. Giving that Darien is a straight guy that for the first time approaches a man, you expect him to be attracted by a cute and submissive type. Instead Chris is like an old strong oak tree: steady and protective. He can meld with the background but he is impressive. And has a firm hand.

Jet Mykles' stories are really simple and enjoyble but they hook you completely: you can't close the book unless you have finished it. Even if you know that you will find you happily ever after, you have to reach it and enjoy it in a rush and then immediately turn back to reread it!

And what he wants,
