The colorful illustrations and rhythmic writing in A New Kind of Zoo will keep your child entertained throughout all of the 32 pages. This book was designed with your toddler and early reader in mind but will provide enjoyment for all ages. Usually ships in 1 to 3 weeks customer 's reviewArguably the most famous Christmas novel of all, A Christmas Carol is as familiar to children as it is to adults, with its cast of macabre ghosts and the archetypal miser, Scrooge. But the book has also had a lasting effect on our ideas about the Christmas season being a time for loving and giving, and at its heart lies a penetrating Christian message. In this new edition, Archbishop Sentamu discusses the biting truths implicit in Dicken's classic tale of bitterness and redemption. In the history of English literature, Charles Dickens'sA Christmas Carol, which has been continuously in print since it was first published in the winter of 1843, stands out as the quintessential Christmas story. What makes this charming edition of Dickens's immortal tale so special is the collection of 80 vivid illustrations by Everett Shinn (1876-1953). Shinn, a well-known artist in his time, was a popular illustrator of newspapers and magazines whose work displayed a remarkable affinity for the stories of Charles Dickens, evoking the bustling street life of the mid-1800s. Printed on heavy, cream-colored paper stock, the edges of the pages have been left rough, simulating the way in which the story might have appeared in Dickens's own time. Though countless editions of this classic have been published over the years, this one stands out as particularly beautiful, nostalgic, and evocative of the spirit of Christmas. customer 's reviewThis series provides a stimulating introduction to the great classic stories of literature and the best in children's fiction. The books are easy and enjoyable to read, and feature full-page, full-color pictures and photographs. Each title includes interesting information about the authors, and comprehension questions to spark discussion. Beginning in 1854 up through to his death in 1870, Charles Dickens abridged and adapted many of his more popular works and performed them as staged readings. This version, each page illustrated with lovely watercolor paintings, is a beautiful example of one of these adaptations.Because it is quite seriously abridged, the story concentrates primarily on the extended family of Mr. Peggotty: his orphaned nephew, Ham; his adopted niece, Little Emily; and Mrs. Gummidge, self-described as "a lone lorn creetur and everythink went contrairy with her." When Little Emily runs away with Copperfield's former schoolmate, leaving Mr. Peggotty completely brokenhearted, the whole family is thrown into turmoil. But Dickens weaves some comic relief throughout the story with the introduction of Mr. and Mrs. Micawber, and David's love for his pretty, silly "child-wife," Dora. Dark nights, mysterious locations, and the final destructive storm provide classic Dickensian drama. Although this is notDavid Copperfieldin its entirety, it is a great introduction to the world and the language of Charles Dickens. Rerations < David Copperfield (Longman Classics, Stage 4) >

customer 's reviewUniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year by missionary Sarah Young. Jesus Callingis a devotional filled with uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year. After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to listen to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue. She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but journaling helped her grow closer to God. Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. They are written from Jesus' point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling. It is Sarah's fervent prayer that our Savior may bless readers with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure.

customer 's reviewWhat would you do, if the people you loved wanted you to become a monster? What if they wouldn't take no for an answer? When twelve-year-old Zach Trewick is faced with questions like these, there seems to be only one choice he can make. . . Run.
Sleeping under bridges and raking leaves to scrounge money, he gives up the only life he's ever known and goes in search of his uncle Justin, the only person he can think of who might take him in. But the journey is a long one, and Zach soon finds that sometimes being true to what he believes in can carry a higher price than he ever imagined.
Nominated for the 2010 Texas Lone Star Reading List for excellence in young adult literature, Cry for the Moon will touch your heart long after the final page. It's a frequently humorous, sometimes inspirational, and always thought-provoking tale of what it means to be human.
"Cry for the Moon" is the first novel in The Last Werewolf Hunter series, followed by "Behind Blue Eyes", and concluding with "More Golden Than Day". Rerations < Cry for the Moon (The Last Werewolf Hunter Series) >
