From the Author: 5 Things I Love About the Kindle Fire
 | | Author Nancy Muir | From its stunning color touch-screen to its beautifully simple and easy interface, the Kindle Fire is one of the hottest new tablets to hit the market. The Kindle Fire may be pint-sized, but it's a total powerhouse packed with features including web browsing, games, apps, videos, magazines, newspapers, music, e-books, cloud storage, e-mail, and more. Learn all about the cool things your Kindle Fire can do with help from longtime For Dummies author Nancy C. Muir and these five Fire features that are sure to fuel your love of tablets and technology.
1. Content, Content, Content! Kindle Fire is intended to be a device you use to consume media, meaning that you can play/read all kinds of music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, e-books, magazines, and newspapers. Amazon has built up a huge amount of content, from print and audio books (1,000,000 titles and counting in the Kindle Store) to movies and TV shows (100,000), music (17 million songs), and hundreds of your favorite magazines. Count on these numbers to have risen by the time you read this! Amazon continues to rack up deals with media groups such as Fox Broadcasting and PBS on a regular basis to make even more content available.
You can also find various kinds of content in the Amazon store using the Store button in Video and Music libraries that you access through the Kindle Fire Home screen. Tap Newsstand to shop for periodicals; Music to shop for songs and albums; tap Video to go directly to the Amazon Video store; and tap Apps to shop the Amazon Appstore for Android. All the content you purchase is backed up on the Amazon Cloud. The ability to quickly and easily access all this content and play it back or display it on your Kindle Fire is probably the main reason why this great little device could give iPad a run for its money.
2. Free Cloud Storage Although Kindle Fire has less storage space (8 GB) than some competing tablets, that amount of storage will probably work just fine for you. That’s because when you own a Kindle Fire you get free, unlimited cloud storage for all digital content purchased from Amazon (but not content that you copy onto Kindle Fire from your computer). This means that books, movies, music, and apps are held online for you to stream or download at any time, rather than being stored on your Kindle Fire. This storage means that you don’t use up your Kindle Fire memory. As long as you have a Wi-Fi connection you can stream content from Amazon’s Cloud at any time.
Tip:If you’ll be away from a Wi-Fi connection for a bit, you can download content like a TV show or movie to your Kindle Fire to watch while you’re without wireless access. When you’re done watching and back within range of a Wi-Fi network, you can remove the content to free up space on your device. Thecontent is still available in the cloud and can be downloaded or streamed again anytime you like.
3. The Size Sporting a 7-inch display and weighing only 14.6 ounces, Kindle Fire is lighter and smaller than the iPad and other popular tablets on the market. That smaller, lighter form factor makes the Fire easier to hold with one hand. In addition, Kindle Fire is that much easier to slip into a tote bag or laptop case. You don’t really need to prop it up with a fancy stand because you can easily hold it with one hand and tap the screen to get things done with the other.
4. The Price Kindle Fire costs much less than the lowest priced iPad: $199 versus $499. At the top end, you’ll pay $829 for a 64 GB, 3G iPad. Granted Kindle Fire doesn’t offer a 3G option, and has no camera, and though it’s inexpensive, it’s a very well made device that offers just about all the functionality of the competition in the booming tablet market. How does Amazon offer a quality deviceat this low price? Quite simply they're making a bet that they’ll make up for what they lose on the cost of the hardware with content sales. And with all the content available, you, the consumer, are the big winner in the end!
5. Amazon Prime Finally, Kindle Fire comes with one free month of Amazon Prime. Now I’ve been an Amazon Prime member for years so I can tell you firsthand that this service is one of the best deals out there. During your free month, Prime will allow you to get lots of perks such as free two-day shipping on thousands of items sold through Amazon.
If you decide to pick up the service after your free month, it will cost you $79 US a year. So just what do you get for your money?
Prime includes a ton of Prime Instant Video, movies and TV shows that you can watch absolutely free. And, these shows aren’t the dregs either: there’s some pretty awesome entertainment included in Prime Instant Video. You also get free two-day shipping on millions of items and overnight shipping for only $3.99. Not every item offered on Amazon is eligible for Prime, but enough are that it's a wonderful savings in time and money over the course of a year. In fact, you can probably pay for your membership with the free shipping on the first two or three orders you place, and getting your Prime-eligible stuff in only two days every time is super sweet.

customer 's reviewBlogs are supposed to be the magic bullet for online business.
Whether you’re a professional blogger, or your blog is built to buoy your regular business, you’re pressing publish for one primary reason: To build, engage, and nurture a ginormous audience. Not just big and ginormous – an audience so massive, you’re virtually guaranteed a flood of customers wide enough that your rivers of online revenue will never stop flowing.
At least that’s how it’s supposed to work.
Yet, the vast majority of blogs trudge along with an Alexa ranking soaring north of a million, with their authors seemingly screaming down an empty online hallway as the echo of their voices slowly fades amid the chirping crickets and digital tumbleweeds. It wasn’t supposed to be this hard. You must be doing something wrong, or maybe missing something obvious. You search for help, but instead of answers you find yourself skidding along a slippery path littered with snake oil and bombastic claims:
Make $500 in just one hour with our no-fail system! How I Make $4,729.19 every week (while never changing out of my pajamas) Tired of Losing? Beat any competitor to the front page of Google
The siren call is alluring, yet you can see the jagged rocks in the distance.
If it’s so easy to make $500 in an hour, why are they selling the system for $27, rather than hiring teams of people to do all the work and make them the money?
What if your competitor buys the same course– how fast will she knock you off of that top spot? Why do they always detail the amount down to the last decimal?
You’re skeptical, but hopeful. It seems like everyone is growing a giant site in no time, just not you. What’s their secret?
You open your wallet, carefully sidestepping the“results not typical” disclaimers. You sift through the nonsense, find a few kernels of solid advice, then diligently put them to work. But you find nothing but more crickets and tumbleweeds; maybe a scant handful of new visitors.
This is exhausting, but you don’t have to do it anymore. How to Build a Blog cuts through the crap and shows you why the guru strategies don’t always work, and how you can follow an A-B-C strategy that will.
It might not be easy, but it is possible. And“How to Build a Blog,” shows you exactly how with proven, tangible examples that you can start following tomorrow. Rerations < How to Build a Blog (Create Awesome Content and Build Community) (The Digital Writer) >

customer 's reviewIn his classic and beloved novel, E. B. White tells the memorable story of Wilbur, a little pig who becomes famous with the help of his clever friend Charlotte and their chatty animal neighbors. As the runt of the litter, Wilbur struggles to survive from the very beginning. Fern fights her father, Mr. Arable, to raise Wilbur and nurse him to health. Fern succeeds and Wilbur moves to the Zuckerman farm, where he learns the true meaning of friendship from the wise grey spider Charlotte. When it becomes apparent that Wilbur is being well fed for a reason, Charlotte and Wilbur are determined to foil Mr. Zuckerman's plans. With the help of Charlotte and her "terrific" webs, Templeton the rat, and other colorful barnyard friends, Wilbur becomes the prizewinning pig of the County Fair and the most famous pig ever. Lessons of friendship, loyalty, and truth bind this story together and show readers that friends come in all shapes and sizes. Illustrations by the artist Garth Williams bring to life these lovable characters. He is also the illustrator of E. B. White'sStuart Little. An affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen. A prancing, playful bloke, Wilbur is devastated when he learns of the destiny that befalls all those of porcine persuasion. Determined to save her friend, Charlotte spins a web that reads "Some Pig," convincing the farmer and surrounding community that Wilbur is no ordinary animal and should be saved. In this story of friendship, hardship, and the passing on into time, E.B. White reminds us to open our eyes to the wonder and miracle often found in the simplest of things. Peachpit Press
Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's reviewScott Kelby, the man who changed the "digital darkroom" forever with his groundbreaking, #1 bestselling, award-winning bookThe Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers, now tackles the most important side of digital photography--how to take pro-quality shots using the same tricks today's top digital pros use (and it's easier than you'd think).
This entire book is written with a brilliant premise, and here’s how Scott describes it: "If you and I were out on a shoot, and you asked me, 'Hey, how do I get this flower to be in focus, but I want the background out of focus?' I wouldn't stand there and give you a lecture about aperture, exposure, and depth of field. In real life, I'd just say, 'Get out your telephoto lens, set your f/stop to f/2.8, focus on the flower, and fire away.' You d say, 'OK,' and you'd get the shot. That's what this book is all about. A book of you and I shooting, and I answer the questions, give you advice, and share the secrets I've learned just like I would witha friend, without all the technical explanations and without all the techno-photo-speak."
This isn't a book of theory—it isn't full of confusing jargon and detailed concepts: this is a book of which button to push, which setting to use, when to use them, and nearly two hundred of the most closely guarded photographic "tricks of the trade" to get you shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos with your digital camera every time you press the shutter button.
Here's another thing that makes this book different: each page covers just one trick, just one single concept that makes your photography better. Every time you turn the page, you'll learn another pro setting, another pro tool, another pro trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. There's never been a book like it, and if you're tired of taking shots that look "OK," and if you’re tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, "Why don't my shots look like that?" then this is the book for you.
