There isn't a book out there like this! Excellent for all Formula 1 fans!
Generally speaking this is a good book which might be interesting for all those who are linked to technical aspects of a formula-1 car design.Is brings a general overview of Ferrari organisation which allowed them to take several championships and a carefull technical analysis of the 2000 car design aspects, including very rare information regarding to tyres, suspensions, performance, etc. This is a book that has to be in every formula 1 technical fan booklet.
This book is an oustanding publication for the depth of technical information on F1 engines, not available elsewhere to the outsider. It is not a coffee table type of book, all of the pictures and illustrations contribute to the technical depth.
The is by far the best book on Formula 1 that I've read.
The author, Peter G. Wright, is a former engineer from the Lotus F1 team, who developped the fundations of aerodynamics in modern F1 cars.
Jean Todt let him access all the secrets of the technology inside the Ferrari F1-2000, and Wright details every aspects of the car. You can see pictures of all key components of the engine, gear box, suspensions, brakes and aerodynamics. And the illustrations of Tony Matthews are truly amazing.
Really, this book is a Masterpiece... as well as the F1-2000.

I thought it would be more technical, it spends too many pages praising Ferrari, and maybe it was the necessary publicity to let him do the book. It has some awesome drawings, but the remaining spaces for the pictures are filled with standard shots of the car on the track. The publicity around this book was very big so I was expecting more, more in depth technical data or secrets.

Lots of good information and high quality pictures. Not so in depth that you could duplicate the technology of an F1 car in your garage or anything but a close enough look that you would know where to go next for a book on carbon fiber lay up or suspension design if you wanted to.
As promised by the title, this book provides lots of information about the technology that goes into Formula 1 cars. The writing is easy to read, the photographs and sketches are well-chosen, of good quality and easy to follow. Even the constant struggle between politics, technical evolution and the need to keep the playing field level finds its place in the book.

Now that the Super Aguri F1 team has gone, if you are wondering just why the sport is so expensive, you'll find the answer here-supported by some impressive statistics.

The only downside to this book is that the author has used copious amounts of interview material verbatim. If you've seen how F1 mechanics, bosses and drivers talk during an interview, you know there is very little real meat in their words. Unfortunately this makes the book sound like an extended press-release at times.

Beware of some fairly technical passages-you will need to have some knowledge of how cars work in order to understand them.
I really liked it, this book gives so much insight to the world of Formula one and it's pretty easy reading. I highly recommend it.
As a Formula 1 fan I was thrilled to find this well-written and very current book on the cars. Recommended to those who follow the sport -- and those who want to learn about the cars with information current as of the 2006 season.
The book has good descriptions of the technology used in F1. People with a good basic understanding of F1 technology will find the book covering facts you already understand. The book is geared for those just learning about F1.

My book is good. just like any other accounting text book, for a cheap price.
since I have a very lazy professor, reading this textbook helped me a lot in understanding the concepts... but it's kinda hard to read due to its intimidating size...
When this book came it was not even close to the description. The whole cover is split open and because of this the book doesnt even close properly! I looked to try to find the seller and I guess it was just sold by amazon so I couldn't find a way to contact them without returning the item. The book was supposed to be in almost new condition and I payed almost the full price for it. I'm extremely frustrated because I don't have to to send it in or I will miss homework and when I end up selling it eventually I will have to sell it in bad condition.
