customer 's review
(Nintendo Keeps the kids busy again!)

(Excellent!)

(My daugher loves the DSi)

(Great Upgrade from DS/DS Lite - Must Buy!)

(Pleased with it.)
We purchased this for our 11-year-old. Because of the added functionality (on-board camera, internet access) it allows our son to get more involved with technology other than just YouTube or games. He uses the camera to take pictures and modify them (in humorous ways) and also spends more time reading (because the step-by-step instructions provided help him figure the functionality out on his own).

Of course, it still plays the games which keeps him occupied during long rides in the car... and he is very, very happy with it.

Nintendo DSi is a great system for casual and hardcore gamers alike. I spent a couple hours today just playing with the cameras and microphone! A must have for anybody looking for a fun experience. 5/5
I bought this for my 12 year old daughter and she love it.

Pros: Shop, Camera, lots of fun, listen to your music, 1000 DSi points, SD Card slot.

Cons: No Flash Player, No GBA slot, kind of Pricey.

My daughter likes to record her voice and listen to her music. She like to take pictures. She likes the browser. But the problem is it has no Flash Player and no GBA slot but its a lot of fun. The color blue is cool. She plays lots of Mario games. This system is the best.

Nintendo DSi is a great gaming/social device for anyone.

Gaming :
Not much has changed here. The added DSi Shop is great for little games that you can download quickly for $8 at the most. I love the card swap feature.

Photos/Music :
The camera takes better picture than I thought it would as long as you are outside in the daylight or if your inside you must turn on some sort of light. Sound is good, but I get slightly better sound from my iPod.

Other :
The fact that this new DS can be upgraded is a big plus. Nintendo has already announced a summer update to add Facebook features to the photo app.

I got my DSi when I traded in my DSlite. So, considering that I paid well under $100, I am very happy with it. I like the built in sound and photo manipulators. The kids and I have had a blast with them. The larger screen doesn't make a huge difference but it does look really nice. I was really sold by the downloadable content, browser(though not used much), cameras and the sd slot. Awesome features. I also like the improved volume control as it was very hard to fine tune the volume on my DS lite. I think its a real shame that they didn't include a GBA slot on this one, though it clearly wasn't a deal breaker. The only other negative is that I'm not crazy about the matte finish. That's simply a matter of taste, however. If they had left the GBA slot intact I would have given the DSi the fifth star.
Nintendo DSi is a new hand held portable game system for anytime, anywhere fun and more. Enjoy the largest screen size, best audio quality and thinnest design of any system in the Nintendo DS family. Download exclusive games, clocks and calendars via the Nintendo DSi Shop. Take pictures using either an inward or outward facing camera and chose from 11 different lenses to customize your shots. Connect wirelessly to browse the internet, share photos and play with others. Access your music in the AAC format off any standard SD Card. The DSi cannot play GameBoy Advance titles.
Nintendo pioneered handheld entertainment in the '80s and famously made it fully mobile and accessible to millions around the world with the Game Boy and DS video game systems. Now, Nintendo is taking things to the next level by transforming the way people access, experience, create and share content with the new Nintendo DSi system, the third iteration of the world's best-selling portable video game system.

The System
The Nintendo DSi is a high-powered handheld video game system in a sleek, folding design-loaded with features designed to create a unique gaming experience. Like the DS and DS Lite before it, the DSi features Nintendo's trademark stylus-driven touchscreen technology, but determined to make portable gaming simultaneously larger and smaller in all the right places, Nintendo has also created the DSi with significantly larger screens and an even slimmer body design than its earlier cousins. Other features include the ability to snap photos with built-in cameras, edit and send them to friends, play back your music with Nintendo DSi Sound, or browse the Internet with the Nintendo DSi Browser. From playing games to just playing around, the Nintendo DSi does it all.

Features:

The DSi's Two Digital Cameras
The most noticeable feature of the slim Nintendo DSi system are its two cameras - one camera is situated on the external body pointing away from the user, and the second one points at the user when the device is flipped open. As the first truly interactive digital camera in a video game system, the DSi Cameras feature 10 different interactive "lenses" that can manipulate your photos, offering an easy way to take and share your photos with family and friends. The cameras also present people with unprecedented ways to interact with their games, and in the process provide developers with a new tool to devise creative games and experiences. If the touch screen gave Nintendo DS a sense of feel and the microphone allowed it to hear, the two cameras give Nintendo DSi the sense of sight.

DSi Sound
Another enhanced feature is the Nintendo DSi Sound application, which serves as both an interactive voice recorder and music player that allows users to play with their music while they listen to it. Users can access different audio filters or control the pitch and speed of recorded voice or music files to alter voices or change the tempo of a song. The mic is located between the two screens when the device is flipped open, and there is also a stereo headphone output that lets users listen to music saved on an SD card, even with the screen shut.

The DSiWare
In the world of software, Nintendo DSi will be the platform for the most relevant and fun on-the-go games and applications. The Nintendo DSiWare application will populate Nintendo DSi with software that can be downloaded using Nintendo DSi Points directly to the portable system, just as WiiWare has with Nintendo's Wii console. Developers big and small are invited to create software that makes use of the properties and functions of the hardware. Nintendo DSiWare games and applications will be available at a range of values, starting at 200 points.

Games and Backwards Compatibility
In addition to downloadable games, Nintendo DSi is able to play games made specifically for the system and sold at retail. The system can also play most Nintendo DS games, and will have access to a library of more than 850 titles originally made for that system. As an example of the quality of games that DSi players can expect to see both from both Nintendo and third-party game developers, at the launch of the DSi Nintendo is also releasingRhythm Heaven. A wildly popular rhythm game in Japan, where it has sold nearly 2 million copies since its release in mid 2008,Rhythm Heavenfeatures catchy tunes, charming characters, and a wide variety of rhythm games as it makes maximum use of the DSi's functionality.

(A SURE KEEPER)

(Best game on the DS?)

(Mario Kart DS)

(nice game)

(Perfect!)
If you are just on this site trying to figure out if this game is worth your money then YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESS! IT IS WORTH [...] BUCKS!
Mario Kart DS is pretty much the best DS game in the series, in terms of gameplay, content, graphics, and fun.

If you've played any past Mario Kart games, then you kind of know what to expect, but this game brings in all the glory of the older titles, and puts a whole new shine on it, as well as adding great new features.

There's tons of tracks, tons of karts to choose and unlock. We're talking hours and hours and hours of racing and unlocking.

There's also new weapons, like being able to turn into a Bullet Bill and shoot down the track knocking your foes right out of the way. There's also a squid power this time around that shoots black ink on your foes screen, blocking out their version for a short period of time.

All the old classic moves are back as well, like banana skins, red and green shells, etc etc. Great fun!

For the first time ever in a Mario Kart game, now you can go ONLINE and compete against players from all over the world with a wifi connection, OR get this...if you have the game, but your friends dont, up to 8 people locally can play the game using only ONE game pack!

Bottom line, if you're new to Mario Kart, or a veteran of the series, there's simply SOO much to love about this beautiful and amazingly fun game.

10/10

My son is loving this game. It's become his favorite and seems to have many different choices from characters to courses which make for great neverending fun.
It is a fun game, but the shipping was bad. It took a long time, but eventually it came. It is fun to play.

(THE BEST GAME ON THE DS)

(Love Mario !!)

(Love This Game)

(Mario- reborn)
I am an 8 year old girl. I really like this game. I can play it every day and never get bored of it. It's a lot of fun and always challenging. It's my favorite game.
This is the best game on the ds. Period. The 3D maps and the 2D gameplay make an excellent match. Tons of enemies are in there, too. Here's a cheat to get Luigi as a playable character. While you are selecting a file, hold down R and L. Then you can play as Luigi. I hope this helps.
I loved playing the old Mario Brothers games on my old sysytems and now this is like playing them again only better because I can play where ever I am.
This is the best game on the DS that I have ever played! So many new levels and worlds to unlock will keep you busy all day long. It's a load of fun and I can never stop playing it! My sister and I used to fight over it because we loved it SO much!
This brings back so many memories to older mario games I played as a kid. With the same classical game setting along with the goal to rescue princess peach from bowser and bowser jr. ,this game provides hours of addictive gameplay. New power-ups and movements add to the elements from past mario games. You will not be dissappointed if you buy this, and it is sure to keep you thoroughly entertained.
New Super Mario Bros. for the DS lets you play an updated version of the classic Super Mario Bros. world, with all-new moves taken from other hit Mario games. When Mario and Princess Peach are taking a walk, a bolt of lightning hits Mushroom Castle. Mario goes off to investigate, but he returns Bowser has kidnapped Peach! He'll track down Bowser on the classic, original Super Mario Bros. map with all the moves he's picked up in the other games. Throw turtle shells, butt-stomp to crack open floors -- you can even use the tanooki suit from Super Mario Bros. 3. Use the DS dual screen to see where you are on a map&play fun minigames. Also includes a two-player mode where Mario and Luigi race and compete for coins.

(Pokemon Platinum is Awesome!)

(FUN and ADDICTING)

(The Best)

(Good Game)
all I know about this game, is that my nine year old son loves it, and plays all the time.
Pokemon Platinum
I bought this game for my nephew's 9th birthday. He said "I can't stop playing it. I played for 4 hours straigt." That was only allowed because it was his birthday. He loves this game.

Pokemon is still the same when it first came out in 1996, now on DS its even more addicting and innovative!
Out of all the games made so far for Pokemon, I find this one by far the best. Sure it's not classic like the first ones that came out, but I'm not all for the classic anyway~!

This game is definitely better also because of the extra things that happen out of the routine from the other games (I haven't played Diamond or Pearl, so I don't mean them) and well, it's a great way to pass time.
The only downside I really see to this is that...Giratina of all pokemon, especially being a cover pokemon, is waayyyy too weak at a lvl. 47 upon capture. It's just rather shocking how weak it is. But I guess that's beyond the point.

Also, as other have already said, this IS a remake of Diamond and Pearl...that should be known already.

The game is as good and entertaining as it was when i played it a few years back.
Pokémon Platinum features a new story full of adventure, never-before-seen forms of powerful Pokémon--including the legendary Giratina’s Origin Forme--and the Distortion World, a mysterious new world that suddenly appears in the Sinnoh region. In addition, with Pokémon Platinum up to 20 players can interact with other Pokémon fans from around the world in the new Wi-Fi Plaza, featuring mini-games and activities. Players can also enjoy the new features in the Global Terminal, such as posting battle videos using the new “Vs. Recorder.” In addition, Pokémon Platinum features a new BattleFrontier, where the toughest Trainers can test their skills in new ways.
Following the vast popularity of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum is the newest in the core series of Pokémon games. (Kinda boring)

(Lots of fun in one cute little starfish.)

(The Best DS game ever)

(Worth Buying, with some Frustrations)

(awesome)
I am frankly disappointed with this game. It's not challenging at all. I think they could of done a better job with it, for it's pretty boring. Same stuff that happens, and nothing really interesting. I like Starfy, but the game i don't really like. I guess it's a game for 9 year olds and down. You might like it, but i thought it was boring.
I was torn between buying The Legendary Starfy and Kirby Super Star Ultra for my nintendo ds. I ended up buying Starfy, mainly because Kirby was sort of been there, done that. Even though the 2 are supposed to be similar, I found Starfy very original and entertaining. First of all, can I just say how absolutely adorable the characters are? Especially Starfy and Starly (his sister). I know most of you hardcore gamers out there could care less about the cuteness factor, but I found the graphics, sound effects, etc. to be very enjoyable. I have another warning for hardcore gamers: it's not a challenging game, for the most part. It has it's moments, but overall I would say it was pretty easy to beat. However, dialogue and interaction between the characters often took place during and in between levels, which helped bring along the story and lengthen the game itself.

Starfy is definitely not lacking in things to do. There are mini games galore...and you can even play with Starly (assuming you know someone else with the game). There are many levels to unlock and extra things to try to do in each level. Overall, it's very entertaining and will bring hours of enjoyment!

This has got to be the best DS game ever made!!! It has similar gameplay to the New Super Mario Bros. which makes it that much better! If you love your DS, this game needs to be a game you own.
My 6 1/2-year-old daughter enjoys this game to a point. She bought it yesterday with her own money and feels like it was worth it, has played it for about 6 total hours. I noticed she is now putting it aside. She loves Starfy and the octopus, not the bunny or the crab. "It's tricky, Mom, when they get involved, and I have trouble getting to the next level. It dumps me back to the first level if I make any mistake. And I don't know what to do now--it's frustrating. So I don't want to play it until I figure out what to do to keep having fun with it."
This game is so much fun! I haven't been able to stop playing it since I bought it a few days ago. :D
He may be the prince of a kingdom in the clouds, but Starfy's not afraid to get his pointy hands dirty pummeling bad guys. Watch out, villains - Starfy and his gruff-talking sidekick clam, Moe, are setting out on another astonishing adventure: to help a mysterious, bunny-eared visitor find his lost memory. There's nothing he can't handle! Jetting through powerful ocean currents, gliding over bottomless pits, swimming straight up glittering rainbows, plowing into packs of shadowy evildoers, it's all in a day's work for the legendary Starfy. And when danger strikes, Starfy can team up with his friend to shape shift into four unstoppable forms. Is a tangle of overgrown bushes blocking the way? Starfy can transform into Monster and torch it with his scorching Fire Belly ability! Is a small army of baddies guarding a treasure? He can shape shift into Rooster and let out a Super Gawk! Mix it up with some mini-games! Hook up with your friends over local wireless (existing connection is required) and face off in fabulous mini-games, Race to the ocean floor in Depth Chargers, hook the big one in Fishing Derby, rush to trace shapes in Sand Tracer, and shoot some change in Coin Slinger, or challenge yourself to see how many tasty octopus snacks you can cook up in Dumpling Master! You can also team up with a friend over Local Wireless and play levels from the main adventure together as Starfy and his sister, Starly.
A mysterious, bunny-eared visitor has lost his memory, and now Starfy and his gruff-talking clam sidekick must set out on an adventure to help him. Get ready to swim, run, glide and spin through lush undersea and aboveground stages as this pointy-handed prince of a kingdom in the clouds shows he's not afraid to conquer obstacles or pummel bad guys. Will you have the skills to help Starfy overcome the dangers that lie in his path.

(Excellent)

(Good Entertainment)

(A workout for the brain)

(Good Choice)

(fun!)
The item was in perfect condition as it was described and I am so happy for that purchase. I love that company. Thanks very much
I finally got one of these after spending a bit of time playing with my sister's model. This is what sold me on it! The downside of online shopping is not being able to see the real item. I like this Nintendo DS a lot! I mostly enjoy puzzle type games, having never got Mario through the first stage even once, but finding Tetris to be a severe addiction... I was looking for a device on which to play it as I can't seem to find the original Game Boy. I do have the DS Tetris version and am getting the hang of it. I find the DS to be engaging and easy to use. I got screen savers as I do have one game that requires a good bit of aggression on my part to make things happen[Rhythm Nation], but for most of the time a saver doesn't seem to be needed. Battery life is adequate, screens are superior to the original Game Boy. Haven't tried wi fi yet. And I love this color!! The gismo has substance and seems like it has good quality to its construction, but I also got it a case so it will stay nice no matter where I go with it.
I found the "brain" games interesting and challenging. I haven't seen a great improvement on the games that I don't do well in but perhaps that comes after a while.
Buying the DS Lite was such a good choice--especially when you find yourself waiting to see the physician and/or waiting for a train or bus. I am quite pleased with it and the ability to play Gameboy games even though the new DSi has come out.
It is a fun little gadget to play games on. I thought that it would be more technologically advanced though. It's heavier and bigger than I thought as well. Overall though it's nice. I really like the silver.
With impressive 3D rendered graphics and ultra-bright screens, Nintendo DS Lite delivers cutting-edge portable games for fans of any genre. Plus, you can connect wirelessly to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and challenge players around the world.

(great game)

(Not Very Fun)
Wow any body with any tast would love this game. It has lots of puzzels.
I love this game. I showed it to my husband and now he plays all the time.
The graphics are great and the story is enjoyable. Some puzzles are very difficult while others are very do-able. It keeps the mind active and the game is enjoyable.
Great game, and if you really do not know the answer to a certain puzzle, you can find a cheat sheet, wich takes away the fun, but let you continue in the game
the only thing that kept me going until the end was the endearing graphics. there are no mystery solving skills needed at all. i rather have more mystery and less puzzles. characters ask you to solve puzzles every time you interact with them but you often receive nothing in return.
In Professor Layton and the Curious Village, you’ll tackle over 130 puzzles as you unravel the mysteries of the village. Puzzles range from mazes and riddles to logic and sliding puzzles. Touch Screen controls make working through puzzles fun for players of all skill levels, and new puzzles are available weekly for download via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Fully voiced animated scenes bring the story to life, while the eccentric villagers and the hand-drawn art provide a charm that appeals to gamers and non-gamers alike. Only playable on Nintendo DS systems.

(Excellent)

I got screen savers as I do have one game that requires a good bit of aggression on my part to make things happen [Rhythm Nation], but for most of the time a saver doesn't seem to be needed.
Lighter, brighter and just as fun as the original Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DS Lite arrives just in time for hungry gamers. It's smaller than the original DS, with brighter screens and adjustable backlighting. The DS Lite sets itself apart from every other hand-held gaming system on the market with a variety of new features. Center microphone Larger stylus for a better grip Easy-to-reach Start and Select buttons Removable cover keeps the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot clear from dust and debris when not in use Color - Cobalt Blue
The best-selling video game system in the world has a new cool new color scheme. Like a black T-shirt with a splash of color, the new Cobalt/Black version of the portable Nintendo DS grabs your attention. It looks good whether it’s toted in your school backpack, pulled from your purse or riding with you on a family trip. Cobalt/Black marks the seventh color in the Nintendo DS Lite palette. It joins Polar White, Coral Pink, Onyx, Crimson/Black and the limited-edition Gold and Metallic Rose. Now there’s a Nintendo DS color to complement any outfit.

Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer gameplay, and the free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service allows you to compete against players from around the globe.

Two incredibly bright LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking gameplay advances ever developed. Each 3-inch screen can reproduce a true 3D view, with impressive 3D renderings that can surpass images displayed on the Nintendo 64.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection:

The possibilities are limited only by developers' imaginations. The touch screen features a tougher film cover for durability, and the included stylus is stored in the back of the unit.

With Nintendo DS Lite, you can connect with a local wireless network of up to 16 players. The wireless range can be an incredible 30 to 100 feet and for some games, multiplayer requires just one Nintendo DS game card.

Note:Nintendo DS Lite wireless communication, including PictoChat, is not private and is not monitored by Nintendo. We recommend that you never reveal any personal information or arrange to meet a stranger.

Rich Stereo Sound:
Nintendo DS Lite sound capabilities allow for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound.

(A Remarkable Game)

(I love it!)

(SMT moves to the Dual Screen)

(A wonderful surprise)
When it comes to the JRPG one thing is for sure, it's definitely got a home on the Nintendo DS. There are tons to choose from and the good news is that most of them are actually really good. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor may actually be among the best you can get on the Nintendo DS. It's got a good story packed with a lot of addictive gameplay that works out really well, and happens to be slightly different than what some are used to.

Lately Atlus has been no stranger to producing anything to the Nintendo DS. They've released several. Some are really good, some are average but very few have been mediocre. In terms of strategy RPG, Atlus rarely disappoints, and Shin Megami is no different. It's a wonderful game.

As usual, the story in Shin Megami happens to be pretty good, with a lot of really well written dialog in there for good measure. However, as is the case with most games in the series, it's very text heavy. There are many times when you'll find yourself reading through the story and the text. It's a dialog heavy game, but at least the story is good.

Where the game begins to show its stuff is when you're actually playing. While the moments between battles can be long, when you actually get to do some battling, it's a lot of fun. At first it seems like your typical traditional strategy RPG. You move one character from one place to another. However, when you actually confront your enemy it switches to being a more traditional RPG. First and foremost, there are tons of demons that you can get a hold of throughout your travels. And they all have their own set of abilities and can even be combined and customized in many different ways. There are tons of demons but also a lot of things you can do. You more or less fight "groups" whenever you get into a battle, usually consisting of a leader and two demons you have to take on. These moments play almost exactly like a traditional RPG.

Even better is "The Observer". This is more or less your base of operations. "The Observer" knows the future. This lets you know when you can go into battles and when you can do certain events. Also, you'll know when certain characters will die. Part of your job is to change the future in these instances. If you fail to do so you do lose characters. At the very least you get a pretty sizable party and plenty of demons to move around with.

Graphically, Atlus is not exactly the cream of the crop. Most of their games have unique art styles at least. The same can be said here. The art style is definitely great, although the graphics themselves aren't fantastic. That's not to say they aren't good. For the most part the visuals are. Particularly in battle. However you're mostly treated to those story cutscenes with the sprites. These still look pretty good in and of themselves though. Also, most RPGs on the DS are about style over substance, especially SRPGs. Style is definitely something Devil Survivor has. Yet even better is the games soundtrack, which is composed of some pretty fine tunes, several of which you'll remember long after you've turned the game off.

Perhaps the only real problem with Devil Survivor is that it's not an especially long game. The story itself is relatively short (despite some long exchanges throughout). Yet even with being short, one is bound to get a ton of gameplay out of it.

Atlus has given us quite a gem here. It's a very fun game with a very involving story and fantastic gameplay. The DS already has a number of RPGs to choose from, and it's a good thing Devil Survivor is among them. It's a fun game that nearly an RPGer can enjoy.

I'm shocked how much I enjoy this game. Even though I usually only use my DS for traveling, I've now been playing at home. Normally I avoid strategy/tactic games, but this one had me hooked from the moment I started. So even if you're like me (and couldn't get into FF Tactics or Eternal Poison), give this game a chance!

The main character is custom-made; you decide everything from his personality to his stats and skills. The other team members are more preset, but earning (cracking) and assigning their skills is entirely up to you. As for demons, those who have played other Shin Megami Tensei games will be familiar with the fusing system. The process of building a successful party is complex, but enjoyable and not hard to pick up on.

As far as difficulty, I'd say this game is easier than Nocturne or DDS, but more challenging than the Persona games. If you like those games, you'll enjoy this one. If you don't like them, what is wrong with you? If you haven't tried them yet, get on with it!

This game is about kids fighting with demons and going to hell. Sounds like right up my ally. I am a huge SMT fan (I own literally every game on the PS2 with the name......at least the ones released in the U.S.) I was kind of disappointed that there was not bonuses things included in the release (the art books in both persona games were awesome). I just started the game up about 5 hours into it and I am not much of a grid RPG fan but so far it has been a blast playing. Im just finding it hard not to kill everyone.

There is a learning curve in my opinion for those people who have not played a SMT game. You really have to learn the lingo of attacks (bufu, garu, hama, mudo) they really arn't as strait forward. But when you get the attacks down and your own personal strategy going your not going to want to put down this game.

Who should buy this game:
-Teens looking for a good challenge and who like RPG games
-ANY SMT fan
-Anyone looking for something other than a kids game on their new DSi

Who should not buy this game:
-Kids (trust me its not for them they will not understand the story line)
-People who are sensitive to demonic literature (this game is full of demons and references to hell Lucifer ect.)

Over all very fun and unique twist to an already great series of games.

The Shin Megami Tensei series has grown on me the past couple years, mainly thanks to the great past few releases on the PS2. Now Atlus' long running RPG series makes its debut on the DS with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, and the results are just as spectacular. The game's storyline finds life in Tokyo going to Hell, pretty literally. With the ability to summon your own demons to take down the rampant baddies running around the city wreacking havoc, and time always working against you, Devil Survivor pits you in some interestingly designed battles that mix traditional turn-based attacks with a hearty amount of strategic input as well. There is a ton of character customization to behold as well, as well as the promise of multiple endings thanks to some many plot branches, which means that Devil Survivor is a game you will keep coming back to again and again. The game looks good and features plenty of atmosphere and nicely designed settings and character models, and having some addictive gameplay doesn't hurt matters either. If there's any drawbacks to the game, it's that there are a good amount of moments where you just seem to plod along, but these moments are few and far between. All in all, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor is another fantastic RPG on the DS, and if you're an RPG loving DS owner, you need to pick this game up, even if you're unfamiliar with the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.
