(No fun...)

(it's a brain word test game)
This game is boring. What a waste of money. It's a brain training game, not as the game suggests a free play of classic word games. It has a weird vibe to it also, not very user friendly. Wish I hadn't rushed to buy it!
I was expecting a "game" game like USA Puzzle Craze or Crosswords DS which I love. It is a test game like the popular brain games that are so popular but I prefer to ave word games like anagrams, crosswords, anacrostics, etc. there are some games like that , though. Hangman-but if you get 5 wrong letters you are done so it is quick and frustrating. Haven't tried all the games yet, but not what I expected so far and haven't felt inspired to keep playing based on my initial playing time. If I can't put a game down, it's a good game. Put this down right away. BUT if you like test with a professor explaining the benefits of a good vocabulary, you will like this.
Classic Word Games is a collection of word games in which players can improve their vocabulary and language skills by conducting word searches, identifying idioms and quotes, and looking up definitions with example sentences.

(Geat!!!)
This game is really fun. The kids can play it but the adults enjoy it also. Watch out though, you won't want to stop playing it:)
This game came with an English language game card but the instruction booklet was written in French. Can't find an address to contact for an English language booklet. If the instructions on the card were clearer, I might really enjoy this game as I am old and new to gaming. I can't seem to understand what to do so I only do Quick Play. I have reached level 13 and can't figure it out.
If you are thinking of getting Meteos - consider getting this instead. I find it relaxing and easy to do.
My daughter is 6 and loves this game. She has played it so much. Great game and makes them think for once. Great seller as well.
I have totally enjoyed this game. There are still some parts of this game, I am working on challenging.
Super Collapse 3 is addicting arcade game fun. The third installment of this highly addictive series holds more action and surprise than ever before. Adventure awaits as you explore 10 fun and unique lands in our all-new Quest mode. Earn coins along the way to purchase strategic items in the Shop, or take a breather and try your luck at one of 10 mini-games in the Casino. Once you start clicking you won't be able to stop!

(nice game)

(fun game and addicting)

(Nice Mahjong Game)

(Fun, but.....)

(it would be fun if you could see it)
This game is fun, It gives many hours of play and can be repeated as desired. I am enjoying this game and it goes with me to appts where I have to sit and wait and its great on long flights.

This game is VERY addicted so warning to those who want a game that they will like but at the same time one that you won't be playing all the time? Well then don't buy this game if you don't want a game where you want to play this all the time. I love it even when I have to start over.
If you are a fan of the Mahjong games, you should like this game. I like the Mahjong games but feel that this game could have used alittle more work. I think the graphics on this game could have been a lot better than they are. The graphics makes this game alittle hard to see on the DS considering that the screen is so small to begin with. Overall its a fun game, but if you have problems playing games on the DS that have great graphics then you are going to have a hard time with this game. Overall its fun, but hard to see. If they had an option to lighten or darken the screen that would make it alittle better in the ease of playing it.
The game is fun, and you will enjoy it.
The only downside is the titles are oh so very samll.
I have good eyes, don't wear glasses, and had some issues with titles.
Still a good game, just sometimes hard to see.

I am a huge computer Mah Jong fan and thought it would be fun to have the game on my ds. Wrong! I realize the ds doesn't have the biggest screen in the world, but the tiles on this game are so minscule you can barely see them, let alone which one they are. I've looked and so far haven't found any way to enlarge them. If the makers of the game had tried, they could have made the game patterns fit with slightly larger pieces. I don't wear glasses (or need them) and have good eyesight and these tiles are just too tiny. All you can do is squint at them and try to guess if two of them really are the same. The game would be fun if you could see it, but I've tried for several days and just can't get into it because of the tile size.
The creators of Jewel Quest bring you more than an addictive puzzle game as well as a true cinematic experience. After three dragons wreak havoc over the empire, young Kwazi must use an ancient set of Mah Jong tiles to restore balance. Enjoy sweeping animations as you help Kwazi journey through the Orient, meet wise animal guides, and use an amazing array of special tiles to solve tricky puzzles. Choose between your favorite styles in Classic-style play and the original challenges of Puzzle-style play.

(fun for everyone)

(mediocre collection of mini-games)

(my 6 year old loves this game)

(Fun at DS carnival)

(Good Clean Fun)
I bought it for my 10 year old and I had to buy another copy for my 7 year old. They totally love it and so did their aunts/uncles (ages 25-37.
I like to collect DS games that are comprised of a nice assortment of mini-games, such as Touchmaster and even The New Super Mario Bros. But I have to say I was a little disappointed with Carnival Games for DS, despite it's good reviews.

The game is cute in style, and creative in concept. You fashion your character to your own liking, then have him or her wander around a carnival from booth to booth where you play games and try to win tickets. If you get enough tickets you might even unlock a prize which goes into your collection of clothes, shoes, hats, and accessories. The collection delivers some interesting clothing/accessory items, and some of the accessories even have special abilities--for example the radar gun zaps you up into a UFO and drops you off onto a different part of the carnival grounds. But there really isn't much else to do aside from trying to complete this collection.

Some of the games were okay, but none that I really had any desire to play over and over after winning both prizes, even just to accumulate tickets. Most of the games were ridiculously easy to master, while some were a little difficult, and a few just downright frustrating. There were also a few secrets that didn't take me long to figure out that got me some rare items to add to my collection--but still nothing that made any significant changes in the game itself.

If you can find this game for about half the cost of what you would pay for it in the store then I say go ahead and give it a shot. But I just feel like it was a bit of a waist of money for me to only have played it less than a week and already put it down for good.

I got my son a DS knowin i would play it to . I was lookin for a game he could play 1 st to get used to the DS and this game was the one .Not only is it ez for him to play at age 6 .I love playing this game to .So if you have younger kids this is a good game to start them out on and you will love it to .

Carnival is a great game for those days when you just want to relax and unwind. It's perfect for everyone in the family.
I bought this game for my daughter and she loves it. My son has been playing it too. They are getting good use out of this one. Good clean fun that they have not gotten tired of yet.
Step right up to Carnival Games for Nintendo DS. All the fun of the million-selling original comes to the world's best-selling portable system during the summer vacation and travel season. Each game is designed from the ground up to take full advantage of the Nintendo DS control mechanism. A frenzied combination of tapping, blowing, speaking and stylus maneuvering brings the now-famous midway to life!

(Nintendogs best friends)

(I love this game!! Too much fun!!)

(Help dogs)

(This game is great)

(same old same old)
Ok i know that this is Nintendogs dachshund and friends not best friends
But i got the limeted edition and i can't review that and they are the same thing just deferent breeds. here is what the game is like. but I have restarted. and this time i have a dachshund.

pros

1 easy gameplay
2 good graphecs
3 you can unlock all breeds on any verson
4 it is in real time
5 you can have to 8 dogs
6 you can unlock Jack Russle Terrier my fav breed Because i have one but i have not unlocked yet so if you know HELP!
7 you can renovate your house but you have to unlock the houses.

cons
1 you can only have three dogs in your house at a time.
2 the hotel sometimes you put a full non thersty beautyfull dog and then get it out the next day hungry thersty and dirty.
3 it is hard to get dalmation, JRT (Jack Russle Terrier) and i had problems with chewawa not how you speel it i know.
4 it does get boring cause it gets repetitive.

Over all i would get it but only one verson if you love dogs

This game is great!! It's just like taking care of real dogs!! Everything about it is just neat!!
Help dog. I think this is a very good game but if your really crazy about dogs like i am i wood try dogz i got it for my Birthday i liked it for a while but then i got bored of it so i got dogz also dogz 2 i like it alot bettr then any Ds game but that is gost me you can think othr then that.
My daughter is 11 and loves this game. She wanted a new dog but I bought her this instead. She's been happy with it and no messes in the house!
the dachshund version of nintendogs is almost the same as every other game in the series. the only diff. is the types of dogs. Hey Nintendo: NOT COOL!!! don't buy this game if you already have another nintendogs game.
In Nintendogs 1: Dachshund&Friends you'll get to train and care for a a puppy, without having to clean up all those soiled newspapers. As you teach your puppy to obey, it'll start competing in dog shows. See if your dog can earn money you can use to buy new breeds!

(Essential DS Title)

(A Piece of History)

(Disappointing)

(fun overall)

(Stellar gameplay, but lacking Fire Emblem charm)
Even though it came out early in the year, I'm willing to say that it's probably going to be the best DS game of 2009 (at least in its genre). This game is completely solid in almost every way, including top notch graphics, music, artwork, storyline, dialog, difficulty (it's not too easy), and playability.

I can pick up this game any time, and the way the game is built makes it easy to play in short installments, so if you are on the go a lot or simply have very little time for games it works out rather nicely; if you have a lot of time you can simply play through it. You can stop the game at any time, and since it's a turn based strategy it's not really important if you are away from the game for a while (no perceived loss of continuity). The plot is enough to make the game interesting, but not so much that you'd important details over time. I find myself going back to this game more than any others in my DS collection.

Every DS owner should have this game, even if just to round out your collection with a finely balanced strategy game. It's accessible to beginners and yet meaty enough for expert players. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars of fun is because it is not the most awesomely engaging game I've ever played, but it has its moments and is otherwise a consistently good experience.

The only thing that is bad about this game is the multiplayer, but as a DS owner I've become accustomed to horrendous multiplayer. As this is chiefly a single player game, it doesn't really affect my opinion of it.

Review note: Played through Normal mode completely (with prologue). No extra chapters (for reasons discussed in the review).

Before I begin, I must say that I love Fire Emblem, so this isn't exactly the most objective of reviews. Though I suppose that playing FE7 for ever only makes me more sensitive to the problems with Shadow Dragon.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is the 11th game in the Fire Emblem series and is actually a remake of the first game, initially released only in Japan on the NES. Telling the story of Prince Marth's efforts to defeat the evil Shadow Dragon, it is a pure turn-based strategy game, but the catch is that if a unit dies, it's gone forever. They're dead. So don't mess up. Additionally, each weapon used in the game has a set number of uses (with some exceptions) and will break if used enough. Intelligent Systems got this system right from the start. The combination of the various strategy elements is addictive.

Though addictive, the archaic design of the game is obvious. There is little in the way of story or characterization, which is disappointing considering the fact that Fire Emblem (7 for GBA) had literally hundreds of different support conversations that provided background and personality to each character. In Shadow Dragon, a new member joins your party, and then you promptly forget who they are and why they joined in the first place. And the story is kinda lame, to be honest. I found that I lost interest in Marth's adventure about halfway through. It just didn't have enough story. A couple of design choices bothered me as well. First is the aforementioned lack of support conversations. Second is the decision to put the weapons triangle into the game, but not the magic triangle, though i suppose that choice was justified since there was no differentiation in magic classes in the original. Third is the class change system. This is ideal for online play, which I did not use at all, but it defeats the purpose of Fire Emblem's tradition of keeping each character in a class fitting their personality. Lastly, a couple small gripes. I missed the rankings system. Funny that I would miss being graded, but that definitely added replay value to the other games. And I also missed being able to hit the R button to get additional information and help in menus. I'm not complaining about the interface, it's great as always, I just miss that one part. The extra chapters required killing off your units, defeating one of the major parts of Fire Emblem, namely, keeping your units alive for the entire game. I suspect that it was added to help new players adjust to the game.

That last part sounds like I really hated it, but it's definitely a Fire Emblem game with the addicting one more turn quality to it. The music is great, though it was missing a single memorable theme (like Eliwood's or Lyn's from Fire Emblem 7). The sprites were nice, the 3D animations were smooth, but not detailed enough for my liking. I still like the 2D battle animations with their crazy critical hit animations better.

Should you play it? This is more of a trip back in time for Fire Emblem fans, not really a continuation of the series. If you're interested to know Marth's story you should definitely play it. I also highly recommend it to strategy buffs. For those who want a better introduction to Fire Emblem, go find Fire Emblem for the GBA, this isn't the best first game.

I have to say I found this game to be very disappointing. The characters seem flat because there are so many of them without a clear story. I wasn't too fond of the graphics either.
The game play itself wasn't too bad, but I think they could have done much better.

It would get more but I for one. I'm not loving the limited 2 save per round system. It might have been used to counter inadequacies in the last game. But its not even close to making it better this time around. You should just be able to save at random. Otherwise you have to wait until you get to that certain save point and then stop where your at. Instead of being able to just stop at anytime.

I do like finally being able to play as Marth in a Fire Emblem game. It kind of sucks though that your not able to get him to another class. He does get one of the better weapons in the game later on. But it would have been nice to have that option and aside from the occasional hiccup. I found myself enjoying the game being a big FE fan that doesn't hurt.

However i would've liked to have a more personal connection to the players in the game. I didn't get that bent out of shape or flustered when one of the died. I'm sure that there's a purpose behind this maybe an extra chapter or storyline perhaps.

For people that are new to the series its a solid entry into the Fire Emblem world and worthy of a purchase. The gameplay itself isn't that difficult/cumbersome and most should be able to pick it up and go with it no problem.

But for people that have been playing and are familiar with the series for awhile. Its good but could be just a tad bit better.

As a strategy game, Fire Emblem succeeds with flying colours. FE provides upwards of 20 hours of enjoyable gameplay. The format of the game is suitable for the DS because it is broken up into chapters lasting around 1/2 an hour each. In between chapters, you have the chance to scout out the next map, and micro-manage the inventory of your characters. It is still satisfying to watch your characters level up, and to work your way through maps. Also, the save points in the map make the game much easier, and will save you hours of frustration.

Unfortunately, since the game is a remake of the first Fire Emblem, it lacks many of the features that differentiate the Fire Emblem series from other turn based strategy games. The biggest omission is the lack of support conversations. In other Fire Emblem games, your units have entertaining banter during the missions that gave them personality. Depending on which conversations you have, you could influence the ending for each unit. These simple text conversations made you care about your characters and gave you incentive to keep them all alive. In this game, the characters are introduced in bunches, and never say anything. I was slightly disappointed when one of them died, but I didn't have that burning desire to restart the mission over again. The other omission was the inability to rescue other units. In later Fire Emblem games, you could have stronger units 'carry' the weaker, hurt units, so they wouldn't die. That gave you a safety net if you accidentally stuck your fragile unit too far on the front line. The extra save points make rescuing units less crucial, but then the game becomes more trial and error with resetting to the last save state, rather than one continuous battle.

For gamers who've played other Fire Emblem games, I still recommend it. It is a solid game overall, but a step backwards from previous FE entries.
For anyone else who is undecided, I recommend Fire Emblem, and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones which are both for the GBA.

You are the general: Shape your army to suit your strategy by selecting from dozens of characters with unique spells and abilities. But guide your army wisely, because if a character falls on the battlefield, he's lost forever.

Game storyline: Medeus, the king of the dragonkin, has been revived and is forming an alliance with a fearsome sorcerer named Gharnef. Together, they threaten to the throw the entire continent of Archanea back to an age of chaos and war. Now, it's up to young Prince Marth and his small band of loyal followers to rise up and rally all those left in the land to make one last desperate push to free Archanea from the tyranny of the Shadow Dragon.

How to progress through the game: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a turn-based strategy game with a fantasy setting. Players alternate turns with opponents, moving their pieces (units) and attacking enemy units on the battlefield. There are dozens of units and different weapons and magic spells, each with its own strategic benefits-high-flying Pegasus knights move effortlessly over varied terrain, fast-moving mounted cavaliers can use swords and lances, unarmed curates use healing staves to mend the wounds of other units and so on.

Characters: Many groups play a part in a story but undoubtedly the story's protagonist, Prince Marth, will be the focus for most. Marth has been featured in the Super Smash Bros. series and has been extremely popular within those games, but this is his first time starring in a Fire Emblem game in the United States. At Marth's side is a support of fearless fighters, including the brave Caeda, a princess of the Talys kingdom. Other major characters include the evil sorcerer Gharnef and the sole surviving descendant of the royal House Archanea, Princess Nyna.

Special Features:

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragonis the first to offer players a chance to test their skills against other players in combat. Using your broadband connection, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and wireless play modes, players are able to send units they've trained into battle against those of another player. Collect optional cards to give your team a unique tactical bonus that can help you clench victory. During Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection matches, friends can talk to each other using the built-in Nintendo DS microphone.

Touch-screen controls, multiple save options and an easy-to-follow tutorial allow novice players to jump into the action, even if they've never played a Fire Emblem game before.

Borrow units wirelessly or through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and use them in your own battles with the Loan Unit feature.

Six levels of difficulty ensure that even seasoned players can find a challenge in this new entry into the Fire Emblem series.

Purchase rare and powerful items using the gold you've acquired during your single-player campaign with the Online Shop feature. You never know what items you might come across, because new items rotate in and out of the armory on a daily basis.

(Addictive Game!)

(Game - Word Jong)

(Very mind gripping!)

(Daily Addiction)

(Great Game)
I enjoy Mah-jong and Scrabble, so I was curious how combining the two would work. This game is very addictive. I actually found it challenging to try and beat the winning score on quite a few of the daily puzzles. I only say this because so many games end up being just "fun" without a real challenge and so I was pleasantly surprised that this game made me "work" while having fun. There are plenty of puzzles. You can only do current daily puzzles on the actual day, but there are plenty of past daily puzzles to work on. You can work on a puzzle over and over again, if you have trouble beating the winning score the first time around. Yes, I had to beat the winning score every time! The games are not on a time limit, so you can think as long as you need to. Some puzzles are pretty easy, but that's ok. They are still fun. I am glad that I purchased Word Jong. I am not disappointed.
I just bought a Nintendo DSi and I thought I would like the game Word Jong because I like mahjong games. They are short and help you build words.
Second time I bought this (I misplaced the first one and just HAD to replace it). This game is addicting! The instructions were initially difficult to figure out, but once that was mastered, the game kept me entertained for hours and hours! Gentle, soothing background music too!
I am addicted to the daily game! There are two modes, single player or multiplayer. I love the single player, Daily Puzzle. It's like a traditional Mahjong board with tiles, but they're letters instead of numbers. And you must create words to get rid of the tiles. The longer the word, the more points you receive for it. If you solve the puzzle, you get a pink dot. But if you beat the stated score, you get a pink flower. I get a big thrill out of getting pink flowers. If I only get a pink dot, I keep trying until I get the flower!

You get a new puzzle every day and can go backwards in months to give yourself more puzzles to solve until the new daily one comes out. I have flowers for the current month and backwards, all the way into July now.

This is a great game. I like it better than scrabble.I can play it for hours.
Scrabble and Mahjong meet to create a hard-to-resist puzzle sensation in WordJong DS, the best version of the popular casual puzzle game yet. WordJong has already amassed a fanbase around the world with its downloadable and cell phone versions, and now the DS release is set to reach a whole new audience with new features, and addictive play.

(Nice Game)

(omg soo addictive)

(Love this game!)

(Hours of Addictive FUN!!!!)

(Not for serious crossword fans but good for kids.)
As a huge puzzle fan, but new to Nintendo DS, this game pack is quite satisfactory. I find it easy to use and lose huge chunks of time.... maybe not a good thing to take to work to while away a few minutes...
i hate crossword puzzles but love word searches so i bought this game anyway, figuring that for just 19.99, i would get plenty of enjoymnet from the word searches. boy was i ever amazed when i became addicted to the CROSSWORDS !!!! i hardley do the word searches becuse of the small screen but can't stop doing the crosswords. they start out stupidly easy but quickly turn into games that will really make you think. th anagrams aren't bad but i don't have time for them right now. whew
I have really enjoyed playing this game! I especially like the anagrams and crosswords. The word searches are okay, but it can be a bit difficult when playing the larger puzzles. On the larger word searches, you have to scroll side to side, up and down, to see all portions of the puzzle. That is the only downside to the whole thing. I play this constantly! Highly recommended for anyone who likes word games.
Even though I am not in the league of someone that regularly does the NY Times Puzzles, I can definitely hold my own in this game... It amazes me how much time passes as you are sitting there playing the games and exercising your brain.

I take it with me every where. Great thing to have with you when you have time to kill. Ex: Waiting room at doctor's office..

Lots of fun if you're into puzzles!!!

Kids and adults will luv this game!!!

This game is fun, but seemed to be aimed more at kids. I was disappointed to find I had to spend hours going through extremely simple crosswords (4x4 grids with up to 3rd grade words) in order to finally get to any I really enjoyed.

The bonus of Wordsearch and Anagrams was nice though. The Wordsearch can be a bit annoying though because the letters are small and you cannot see the whole board at once, meaning you have to scroll around and often loose track of where you were searching.

I also find the replayablility to be almost none, but it takes so much time to go through all the puzzles the first time, that may not matter.

Crosswords take greater depth, skill, and meaning when you confront word puzzle challenges on your DS
Crosswords, Anagrams, and Word Search…. Play three of the all-time most popular word games on the go with touch-screen controls. Pick up and play the most popular word games. Over 1,000 crossword puzzles, anagrams, and word-search puzzles now fit into your pocket. With several levels of increasingly challenging puzzles,Crosswords DSoffers non-stop gaming for people on the go. Use the DS stylus to touch the puzzle screen and fill in letters inCrosswords DS, slide your word tile in Anagrams, and locate hidden words in Word Search. Easy controls make it the perfect fit for portable puzzling. Whether you’re a crosswords beginner or seasoned expert, this game is for you, as there are tons of puzzles for all skill-levels.

(strait foreward storyline to start a more complexly developoed series)

(Crap re-make)

(A Frustrating Mess)

(Classic :))

(Color Me Not Impressed)
FF3 is one of three games telling how the crystals came into being and how they are threatened. IV is the first to move away from this direct storytelling, i say direct as in not "a joke" or "stupid" as some have pointed which bothers most real gamers who played in the 1980' 1990's and are not so spoiled as kids now. The main plots are strait foreward, but a good start to more grandiose stories later on, as in 4 or 6 and the sucessors to them. As with anything you -start- with a simple plot and work up to the big stuff. The "3D" graphics are spectaular for a gameboy anything but the characters are cutzy dolls and look girlish though i ignor this and play the game for it's dialogue and gameplay element. Even if animea is compelled to draw thier male leads as girlie, they could at least make them less so than these(particularly "Luneth" who I call "Lameth") In the case of these "paperdolls' I would have just kept the original way. The "Avatars' (portraits you never see) are good, just the "figurines" are lame. This game is like FF5, you use "Jobs" to distinguish one PC from another. Yet in FF5 you can (sometimes, not all) compliment one job while taking another, not here, a warrior who was once a thief, for instance, cannot steal, no matter what level a thief he was until he returns to that profession. Thier is no use in switching jobs for a unique ability otheer than doing the task at hand, as in shrinking yeilds nothing unless you are a mage, not a fighter. Fighters can't do well at 2" tall magic works the same at any height. This is good, though for some odd reason changes during Cecil's rein in FF4 where "toads" and "Pigs" fight pretty well against "giant flame lizards" or what. though this is a recap, plotwise, of FF1,and 2 it is still interesting in how you carry this out via quests, and subplotts, a good game element not in storybooks. It's not what you do that is interesting it is HOW you do it! FF1 was merely wondering around a huge ridiculously laid out map for citys to find quests in about the crystals, ff2 was a bit more complicated in these quests, now you have most characters having agendas, not just "Larry Darrel/Darrel(an old joke from us 1980's gamers). Each of the four adventurers as well as most key NPC's have a big agenda(teaching the value of live and let live), they are not just there for the player. That, more than the main plot is what makes FF3 a good game and set apart from FF1/2. RPG's don't need a particular plot just good way of telling it. the graphics i won't go into, as that is not what truely makes a game, though they are nice, it is odvious they are very good and better than the original even better than the original ff4/2 which for 1990 was spectacular!
The origional was awesome, this is not the origional. They should call these remakes Final Fantasy III (Remakes) or something different so people don't waste their money thinking they are buying their classic favorites.
I haven't played through every Final Fantasy game as of yet, so I really can't say which game is the best and worst in the series. However, out of all the FF titles I have played thus far, I can say that Final Fantasy III is probably my least favorite.

To begin with, Final Fantasy III takes a step back from its predecessor, the infamous Final Fantasy II (for NES), and seems more closely related to the original than anything else: you will encounter enemies with similar names; 4 light warriors are recruited to set out and save the world; crystals are again in danger and need saving; the main enemy is not the last boss of the game, as a stronger enemy force is manipulating the scenes; at some point in the game you acquire a submarine type vehicle and can explore beneath the water; various types of Job Classes are included. To some extent, this could easily be viewed as a sequel to the very first game. There are some new editions, as well: the character interaction and plot building is left intact that was introduced in FFII, Job Classes can be changed throughout the game as you gain more crystals, you receive more vehicle upgrades than either of the two previous games, the world map is much larger with more places to visit and explore than the previous games, and of course Summons is introduced.

While all of this seems to be a recipe for an epic game, the game suffers mostly in plot and in gameplay. The graphics for the DS were okay, but not great. In fact, I think I would have enjoyed the game more had they kept the original NES graphics, or upgraded them to SNES quality as they did for the Playstation remakes some years back. The 3D quality doesn't always work, and I think I would have preferred simpler 2D graphics and use the extra space and power on creating better cutscenes. I was also not impressed with constantly having to tap the expand the screen to search for hidden switches and treasure; it was fun at first, but quickly lost its charm.

***SPOILERS***Now, I played through the first Final Fantasy on the original NES several times, and I love that story regardless of its lack of plot. I usually do prefer a plot, of course, but I prefer a plot that goes somewhere and means something. In Final Fantasy III, I enjoyed the first half of the game much more than I did the second half. Once I got off the floating continent, the game felt like an endless series of fetch quests, and the plot just seemed to kind of stall while waiting for me to find the rest of the crystals. Sure, there were several fetch quests through the first half of the game, as well, but the plot kept moving with these quests at a decent pace. My two favorite areas were the Ancient Village and the Gulgan Cave, because you learned so much without the game giving too much away. But by the time I got toward the end of the game, I was ready for it to be over with. And besides, didn't anybody else feel the plot revelations by the end of the game was depressing? I mean, to go through all of that, only to find out that main enemy will always exist, and that in time the world will indeed be destroyed, as it's inevitable, it kind of made me wonder what was the point of me going through all of this.***END SPOILERS***

Gameplay was another issue. The game started off mildly easy, it threw its share of challenges at me, nothing too great or small. Then the second half of the game took place, and the challenge increased, and it was a learning adjustment for me, but I managed. Then comes the last dungeon (or should I say 2 dungeons), and to get through it and get everything you need will take a good 1 1/2 to 2 hours at the very least, probably longer. No save points either. And then you fight through a round of tough boss battles, only to go up against the final boss and get wiped out in a matter of a few turns, only to have lost the last 2+ hours of your time. I pride myself on my level grinding, and my characters were at levels 57+ by the end of the game, but apparently that wasn't high enough, as I did on the final boss and had to redo the last 2 or 3 hours of dungeon crawling. Frustrated, I turned on a cheat code that raised my characters to level 99, and although this was much more doable, it was still challenging. To not have any saves between the 2 dungeons, to require somebody to go through 2 hours of torture, and then wipe them out so they have to do it again is unforgivable. Don't get me wrong I enjoy long games of 50 to 100+ hours, and I usually enjoy taking the time to scope out every area, get every item, complete every sidequest and gain as high of levels as I can, but I also want to play at my own pace. 2 hours without being able to save is an insane amount of time to require of anybody regardless of the platform they are playing on, regardless if they have the time to play that long or not. But the DS, like most handhelds, are designed for consumers who need the convenience of a game system for when they travel or have little time to play, so this becomes even more mind-boggling.

The Job Class was very cumbersome since you never knew how many battles to raise its level. And since your attacks are capped at 9999, and you don't get anymore abilities than what you start with for a particular job, a lot of the later Job Classes tend to feel obsolete even though they are supposed to be more powerful and effective. More variety in abilities and a level chart were definately needed.

And finally, the Side Quests were just plain idiotic in my opinion. To get most of these, you had to use the Moggle service to send mail, and you needed a friend with a DS in order to accomplish some of that. Does Square Enix (which now includes Eidos, I guess... should I call them Squeido now?) really think the majority of its players want to sit and email friends instead of playing this game? This feature seems to be catering to a younger audience, since I can't think of very many older folks like myself wanting to send email through the DS; however, since the game can be so frustrating at times, younger audiences may choose to ignore this game and find one that is easier to play with perhaps a better story and better game mechanics.

In summary, I can at least say I've completed another number to the Final Fantasy franchise, and I may be willing to give the original NES game a turn if it ever becomes available, perhaps on the Wii platform or some other console. But as for the DS, I don't really recommend it.

I have played the original Final Fantasy 3 for the NES and this is a nice improvement. The original FF3 did not have named characters as the player named them. Bringing actual characters in for the remake is a nice change and makes the story a little more enjoyable. Final Fantasy 3 story runs much the same as Final Fantasy 1 did. The player is doing more finding out why the world is the way it is then there is an actual plot. The idea of a developing story does not come about until FF4. Where this game really shines is in the game play. The player has four characters that can be changed into many different class types. Leaving a seeming limitless possibility for a team setup. In the original many of the classes became obsolete after a time. In this remake they did a nice job of changing that and making all the classes more playable through out the entirety of the game.
As a kid, I grew up with classic RPGs like the original Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. Games that didn't rely on awesome graphics, a beautiful soundtrack, or killer special effects to capture the player's attention and affection. Games that sold you on the story and gameplay because, well, there really wasn't much else. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard the original Final Fantasy III--a game never before released in the US--was coming out for the DS with all kinds of revisions and overhauls.

High hopes are what I had for this game, and they were horribly dashed after just a few short hours of playing. For starters, the story is boring and horribly unoriginal. In fact, it's essentially a rehashing of the original game's storyline. Second of all, the massive overhaul to the graphics and sound is little more than a complete waste of time. Oh, wow, so a 2-D game is now in 3-D, but it still plays like it's 2-D? WHO CARES. Aside from being able to play using the touch screen exclusively, the gameplay itself is majorly disappointing. In fact, aside from the pretty graphics and nicely redone sound, this game is utter garbage. Now I know why it was never released in the US.

After more than enough hours of wandering aimlessly throughout the game with little idea of what I'm doing or what's going on, I grew bored with the story and tired of playing. Some games I can stomach the horrible gameplay for the story, but this is not one of those games. To be perfectly honest, I only recommend buying this game if you're a die-hard, hardcore Final Fantasy fanatic or collector. Otherwise, chances are you'll find this game to be as much a waste of your time and money as I.

The only Final Fantasy that was never localized in the United States, Final Fantasy III has been reborn, incorporating the latest in portable gaming technology. Using the features of the Nintendo DS to their fullest, Final Fantasy III features graphics that have been reworked and remodelled in 3D, while maintaining the mythical Final Fantasy look and feel. This is the fans' chance to complete the circle. The legend of Final Fantasy III is reborn.

(My Husband stole my game)

(Fun scrolling game and a fun puzzle game)

(Henry Hatsworth is great)

(Great fun)

(Unexpected Fun)
I bought this game for myself when it was released. I played it for 2 days and then lost it to my husband. He played it nonstop for a month. I must say that this is the first game where I have heard him laugh out loud while he is playing. When we both play we set our systems to mute, except when he plays Henry Hatsworth - the music is great and the voices are funny. It can be very challenging during the Boss fights but the game is soooo addicting that he refuses to give up or put it down. I love the combination of Mario like play and the puzzle at the bottom. I highly recommend this game. When I get it back I will do another review based on my OWN gaming :-)
It's not the best game I've ever played, but overall the game is fun.

I'm still engaged and playing it after completing about 20% so far.

I highly recommend this game for anyone who is a fan of platform games.

The puzzle element of the game is simple. It's an interesting design mechanic to incorporate with the platforming, and a unique way to grant both power-ups and new dangers to the player. However, the puzzle itself doesn't provide any real challenge or in-depth experience, so don't buy the game simply for that. I honestly think the game would be just as good as just a platformer.

The run-and-jump-and-slash aspect of the game is the main reason to play. It's a great modern take on old gameplay ideas. It incorporates small play mechanics from a wide variety of classic hits, to give players lots of flexibility in movement and attack abilities. Also, while being mainly a platformer, the game takes cues from beat-em-up games to incorporate some of those elements. The platforming aspect in general, in great contrast to the puzzle aspect, is very difficult, but also very rewarding.

Some parts of the game seem a bit over-designed, such as robot power, which doesn't provide much benefit for the amount of hubub and graphical grandeur it carries. Other parts of the game are under-designed or under-tested, such as small chunks of the level design that I would classify as "incorrect", often with an easy fix that would have been clear with more testing.

Overall, Henry Hatsworth is not for the faint of heart who want an easy casual experience, but it would be great for somebody who loved some of the classic platformers or beat-em-up games. It is a very fun and addictive game, well worth the price.

This game has more variety than other puzzle games I've seen. It's a cross between Tetris and Mario Brothers. Lots of fun
I bought this game expecting it to be more puzzle than anything. When I got it I was initially disappointed and read the description again, which still made the puzzles seem much different than what I was experiencing. (The puzzle part progresses as you play, and you need to switch back and forth for energy and to beat the enemies in the puzzle. The puzzle remains pretty much the same always, with small changes from enemy to enemy, but you need it for your energy.) However, I stuck with it and I ended up being frustrated and thrilled at the same time. I find the game addictive and even though I 'beat' the game I am still trying to do the things I missed the first time around. (When you beat the game, you have the option to play in 'Gentlemen's Mode', which is the same game with everything you've earned, but the puzzle moves much faster and you get less time in the puzzle...much faster puzzle, much less time.)

A lot of people have disputed about the 'voices'. I can see both sides, though I personally find them a little on the annoying side. However, once you get past the initial learning levels, the voices are much fewer and farther between, and you can just hit the button and not listen to them. It wouldn't change how I feel about the game either way.

There are five 'areas' in this game, each consisting of five levels, and additional hidden levels. You must pass obstacles, defeat foes, keep your puzzle in check, and collect coins and gems. Some areas and levels end with you receiving magical suit pieces that give you additional powers, allowing you to defeat later levels or hidden areas. There are three game slots. The game saves after you complete a level. There are certain landmarks within each level that, if you die, you will continue from that point. If you use your last life within a level, you will have to restart from the beginning of that level. Weapons are an energy blaster, bombs, boomerang, and sword. The story progresses as you finish levels and areas, with a bit of a surprise at the end. There is no bad language, and no blood or gore. Mostly defeating robots and 'monsters'. My nine year old son and I try to share, but we both always want to play!
