(Kids love playing it!)
『Neat game - and the progressive nature of it is pretty cool - you can teach your dog tricks and play games with them to get them better at competing in certain events.』

(I am 28 and LOVE this game!!!!)
『I bought the Dachshund version at first because I have 4 Longhaired Dachshunds myself, I LOVE IT! I played it so much that I had all of the other breeds unlocked fairly quickly. The only issue I had is that you have to be VERY carful with the words you choose for your voice commands and speak very clearly into the microphone or the dog will act confused and you have to keep trying. But if that is the worst problem, then that isn't much of a problem to me :) You can unlock all of the breed available in each version but I have every version available just because I like it that much! Now if they would only come out with a version with Rare/Large breeds like the Bernese Mountain Dog (which I also have in real life!), St. Bernard, Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, and Great Pyrenees! That would be HEAVEN for me!!!!』

(was a gift and she loves it..thnx)
『the gift went over well. she enjoys it and that is all it matters to a 13yr old. thnx』

(So fun never got bored)

This game was really fun and I hardly got bored of it. I even shared it with other people and they love it. I love the competitions in it and walking my dog. I am a real animal lover so i loved it. After a while it got a little boring but it suddenley got exciting again because I discovered new things about it in the manual. It is a pitty you can only have 3 dogs at your house. But still it's good.

(Nintendogs)
『My tween daughter purchased this game with her Christmas money, and it is by far her favorite game. It took a little while for her to figure out how to do the contests, but now she is up to 4 dogs, and is having a lot of fun.

『Put a puppy inside your Nintendo DS! In this game choose from Dalmatian, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, Beagle, Boxer and German Shepherd Dog.』

(Great Armor)
『Got one of these for my sons DS and it is great. It looks cool, he keeps it on and it doesn't hamper his playing at all and it seems to protect the DS very well - 5 stars.』

(Excellent case for child)
『My son has probably dropped his DS Lite over 100 times. This case has protected it completely. I can't recommend it highly enough. My daughter who is more responsible dropped her DS Lite one time without a nerf case. She ended up having to get a new DS! You'd better believe that she now has a nerf armor case also. As others have noted, you will have chunks start coming off with lots of use by children. I had to replace the first one after 9 months. I love this product.』

(Offers great protection for the DS)
『I bought the Nerf Armor for my 7-yr old's DS after I saw how much it was being dropped and nicked. The armor offers great protection from dropping and scratches. It is rather bulky, but payoff is worth it.』

(Nerf Armor)
『We own both the DS and PSP Nerf Armor. It was well worth our investment! Our son dropped his PSP out a 2nd story hotel window and landed on the parking lot. To our surprise, the PSP was very much intact and the Armor had only a small piece torn off. What a product!』

(Could be better, but kids love it)
『My 9-year-old begged for this "armor" instead of a case. He likes the look of it, and it does offer a great deal of soft cushiony protection around the top, bottom and front of his game. My preference would be for a better design in the back along the hinges, because there are only two pieces of foam about the size of a dime along the back, and they tear off very easily. I also can't fathom why they didn't design it in such a way that there is a small pocket or slot of some sort along the top or side edge for an extra stylus and/or game. That would make it much more usable and versatile. For what it is, though, it's a good product. :)』
『The official NERF DS Lite Armor protects your valuable Nintendo DS Lite system from bumps and bruises. Authentic, soft, NERF material on the Armor gives you additional grip and comfort while playing.』

(Well....It's Bejeweled!)
『If you like Bejeweled...then you will love this game....it's FUN! This game is the one you reach for when you just need something to keep you busy...then you find yourself playing for hours! Simple to learn, fun to play...every DS owner should have this game. And they probably do!』

(Love, love, love it)
『I purchased this game as it was the closest to the computer game Bejeweled. Since I am addicted to Bejeweled, I have also become addicted to this game. Love the sounds and graphics. Kind of wish they had more levels&variety of scenes, but other than that, it is great.』

(7 wonders of the Ancient World.)
『This is a fun game, but I did find it a little on the easy side to complete.』

(An addictive game)
『I love this type of game because I don't have to do any thinking to complete the game. I can play this game for hours without realizing how long I have been playing it. The only thing I don't like about this game is that when all of my lives ran out I had to restart from the beginning which can be aggravating because I almost completed the challenge. I highly recommend this game for those who just want to do something mind numbing.』

(Fun puzzle game.)
『This is a bit like bejeweled. It is fairly easy but for people who like puzzle games it's worth the buy. Here's a cheat for you. You only have about 7 lives to get through the whole thing so if you see your running out of time and know you're going to loose that puzzle just shut the game off before the timer runs out. The game saves after each puzzle you beat so you just keep redoing the one puzzle you may be stuck on. Good Luck!』

(Decent product with a few mistakes in it.)
『I lived in Japan for one year about twenty years ago. Without any exposure to Japanese since then, I had forgotten most of my Japanese. My Japanese Coach arrived in my mailbox one week ago and since then I have played it obsessively. I am now at lesson 106. I feel like I have recovered about 70 percent of my Japanese. It really refreshed my vocabulary and grammar. This is a great game for people who need a review of basic Japanese kana, vocab and grammar. I think beginners would get something out of it, also, because it provides a native speaker who says words. I think that will be helpful to beginners. I also think being able to record your voice and hear it played back with a comparison to a native speaker will be helpful for beginners.

There has been a lot of talk about the stroke order errors in the game but I think I found a major grammatical error that no one has ever mentioned. Lesson 49 is about how to say you need something. It presents the two main ways to say something is needed or necessary as 'hitsuyou' and 'iru' . It gives two example sentences using 'hitsuyou'. This is then followed by two example sentences using the construction '...nai to ikemasen.' No examples are ever given using 'iru' in a sentence. I can only assume that whoever created this lesson believes that 'iru' has some relationship to '...nai to ikemasen'. Certainly, any beginner and many intermediates will leave this lesson believing that the verb 'iru' (to need) somehow is related to the word 'ikemasen' or to the construction '...nai to ikemasen'. That is a terrible error. '...nai to ikemasen' actually is derived from the verb 'iku' (to go) and has the meaning of 'not doing (fill in the blank) is a no go'. So for example, if you wanted to say, "You should wear your seatbelt," you would say in Japanese (but I'll word it in English), "Not wearing your seatbelt is a no go." In other words, "Not wearing your seatbelt will not work" or "Not wearing your seatbelt is so not cool." But the verb used is the verb for 'to go'. You can see it has nothing whatsoever to do with the verb 'iru' that means 'to need'. If you were trying to learn Japanese and didn't know enough to figure this out, it could leave you really confused.

I think this points out a huge error that was made in the creation of this product. I suspect that not enough emphasis was placed on consulting with native speakers of Japanese during the creation process of this game. I think a team of Brits or Americans basically created this game and that a few of them thought they knew Japanese really well and they did not keep a native Japanese speaker nearby to correct their errors. I have seen this frequently in English materials in Japan. You will see just basic mistakes in English in Japanese products that any 8 year old native English speaker could have corrected but nobody bothers to hire anyone to 'proofread'.

Anyway, as to the stroke order mistakes...who really cares. I think that stroke order is very important. However, I think that if My Japanese Coach is as far as you are ever going to take your Japanese learning, then it doesn't matter what stroke order you use because you will never be more than a low beginner. If you are serious about your Japanese, then you will also buy other ds products that will teach you correct stroke order and more perfect writing. For example, you can buy a ds program on jlist or on Amazon.jp or play asia or yes asia or other sites to teach you calligraphy. It will make your stroke order and your character form nearly perfect. You can also buy kakitorikun or kanji dictionaries for ds and many other ds programs that will teach you many kanji along with perfect stroke order. So this is really a minor problem.

People have complained about some of the games but I notice that everyone complains about different games. A lot of complaints are about my favorite games. I think that it is good that many different games were included because people have different tastes in what they enjoy or what they learn from. Somebody said they found the memory game annoying. That is my favorite and the one I play the most. I think people who find the memory game annoying probably have poor working memories and are the type of people who can't remember a 10 digit phone number if someone tells it to them. I am not trying to make a value judgment about that. I am just saying that people have different needs. I find the flash cards and multiple choice games annoying because they are too easy. I have to agree that the spelltastic and other games that require the use of romaji are worthless. But who knows they might really help someone else.

After lesson 100, there are no more lessons. Instead you are given either vocabulary or kanji to memorize. Lesson 101 gave you 10 vocabulary words. You play the games until you prove you know the words then you can move to the next lesson. Lessons 102-104 also presented you with 10 vocabulary words each. Lesson 105 gives you 10 kanji to memorize. Lesson 106 gives you 10 vocabulary again. I am guessing that every fifth lesson is kanji and the rest are always vocabulary.

I have a complaint about the vocabulary in the game. I see no evidence that the vocabulary was chosen based on frequency of use after lesson 100. It becomes boring to just memorize vocabulary with no sense that they will be useful to you except very rarely. Here is an example. These are the vocabulary in English (and I will provide the romaji although the lesson gives it in hiragana) from lesson 106: a little (chotto), prominent (juujouna), brainy (soumeina), magnet (jijuku), provision (kyoukyuu), stiff (katai), brandy (burandei), delirious (uwagoto wo iu), disparity (soui), dehydrate (dassuishoujuu wo okosu). As you can see, some of them are things that you would encounter often in Japanese (like chotto) but the rest seem random or something you might only use once in awhile. I mean, how often do you need to say the word magnet? I think that is a word I have used in conversation once in the last year in English. Or how about brandy? Why is this a word that is worthy of being in the first few hundred Japanese words that I learn? Unless you were a raging alcoholic with a particular interest in drinking brandy or unless you were planning on being a bartender in Japan, why would you need to know this? How about provision? Really, is this something that would come up in conversation?

So this is a huge complaint of mine about the game. After lesson 100, it makes no attempt to organize the vocabulary by any logical means whatsoever. It does not select them by frequency of occurrence in speech or in the newspaper. It does not organize them by subject matter. So basically, you could just as well be memorizing words out of the dictionary. In fact, I think this is maybe where they got their words--just randomly selected them from a $10 Japanese dictionary for sale on Amazon.

But at least with the kanji, you know it is the 1945 joyou kanji that will be presented so at least you know they are useful. Keep in mind, however, that in 2010, the Japanese government is planning on adding a couple of hundred or so kanji to the official list and removing 5 others. The kanji for chestnut is on the chopping block to be removed from the list of official kanji, which makes me sad because I absolutely love chestnuts. Apparently, they are going to replace the kanji for 'chestnut' with the kanji for 'kit kat'. Ok, that last part was a joke. Sort of. If you know about Japan's national obsession with the kit kat bar and if you are as sad as I am about the replacement of traditional Japanese culture by westernization, then you will get my little joke.

In short, I would recommend this game for beginners to become acquainted with Japanese or for low intermediates to refresh their Japanese. You should not skip ahead in the lessons because the game does not very accurately judge what lesson you already know or don't already know so you might miss something important. It will only allow you to skip 11 or so anyway so just do them. If you are so good you can skip 20 lessons (there is a cheat code that will allow you to skip ahead), then you are way too advanced to use My Japanese Coach anyway and should instead buy a more advanced product such as a parallel text book with cd or kanji training ds program, etcetera. If you need the ego rush from proving to yourself how great you are by skipping lessons in a course that is too easy for you, then save the $30 on the game and go people watching at Walmart instead. By the way, the labeling of the levels in this game is stupid. When the 'high school' level in this game is reached, a learner still knows less Japanese than the average real first grader in Japan. So I don't get what the classification scheme is for except maybe to motivate the player and make them feel good that they are advancing? I guess it feels better to hear that you are now a 4th grader than, "Congratulations, you know as many words as the average 2 year and one month old in Japan and after the next lesson, you will have the vocabulary of a 2 year and 3 month old toddler. Keep working, you will be potty trained soon."

I did get a lot out of the game though. I feel competent at hiragana and katakana again. I am learning more kanji. I feel annoyed by the randomness and often unuseful vocabulary that I have to memorize to get to more kanji. I will probably keep playing with this game until I get around to ordering better kanji learning software. My plan is to buy either kakitorikun or nazotte oboeru kanji practice training or a calligraphy program for ds. But I am very glad that I started out with My Japanese Coach as my reintroduction to Japanese. It really does a good job of acquainting you or reacquainting you with the basics in a easy to use way. You will feel pretty solid about being able to approach a more difficult study course after using it. I don't think there is anything better out there right now for beginners or people who are really rusty other than living in Japan or taking a class. And I still think that My Japanese Coach would be useful to a novice to supplement their class or travel experience. Just remember it has a few mistakes in it so you will have to be open to learning things more perfectly from other sources as you advance in your Japanese.

I want to add to my review. I am now on lesson 152. I have found a way to make memorizing the vocabulary in the lessons more fun. I have started googling all of the japanese vocabulary words in romaji. I find out amusing and educational things out about Japan with every single word. For example, I googled 'koritsu' which means 'isolation' and found the word 'koritsu shugi' which means isolationism. Remember when America was isolationalist? Anyway, I remembered the word 'minshushugi' or 'democracy' that was in a previous lesson and wondered if it was the same 'shugi' being used in both. So upon further googling I found out that 'shugi' is an ending that sort of means what 'ism' means in English and that all sorts of political words like communism and socialism and capitalism all end in shugi. And now the words koritsu, koritsushugi, and minshushugi as well as shugi are forever stuck in my head.

In today's lesson, so far I have looked up outlet (hakeguchi) and precedent (senrei). While looking up 'hakeguchi' I found out that it both applies to a place where a river runs into an ocean as well as anything that vents like a teapot's steam hole. Also, it applies to anything that provides a person or a culture a way to release their emotions. So you could say that painting is your hakeguchi for when you feel sad. I found an interesting article about the current trend in Japan for some quasi intellectuals and professors to deny any war crimes like the rape of Nanking. Here is a quote from the article that uses the word hakeguchi: "the illusion-school faction is a hakeguchi -- an outlet for frustrations in Japan after years of what are seen as inflated claims about Japanese war crimes." Here is a larger quote from the article:

"Harsher critics of the illusion school say its members do not belong in any serious scholarly discussion. "These academics are not interested in a debate," says Mr. Nakano, of Sophia University. "What they do is to smear and undermine existing research. They cast doubt rather than illuminate."
Mr. Nakano says that while the revisionists have helped popularize a once-taboo discussion, their pulp publications, with huge readerships, are "pushing the trained historians out of the public debate about war crimes." Unlike Germany, which criminalized the denial of gross crimes of genocide, in Japan, denials of well-documented atrocities have repeatedly come from leading politicians. Mr. Abe, the prime minister, recently sparked outrage in Asia and the United States when he said there was no evidence that Japan's wartime government or military had enslaved thousands of comfort women, despite overwhelming documentation and a 1993 admission by Tokyo that it had. Few universities have taken action against revisionist academics. Once tenured, professors are difficult to remove from Japanese faculties, which in any case are seldom openly confrontational."

Well, that is pretty interesting stuff isn't it. How could you forget the word hakeguchi after reading all that? By the way, it helps a lot when trying to memorize all of the vocabulary to make connections between words. For example, 'guchi' is the same as 'kuchi' which means mouth. So you aren't learning an entire new word. You just have to remember that things can go in mouths and out of them and an outlet is the mouth of a river where the water flows out.

I couldn't find anything too interesting about the word 'senrei' but I did find out that 'sen' is the same 'sen' as in 'sengetsu' or last month so when you see sen in a word, you know that sometimes (not always) it is telling you to look backwards in time. So i just memorize sen as meaning before or past and I already know 'getsu' is month. Now I have three words or pieces of words for the price of one...'sen', 'sengetsu', and 'senrei'. And then after looking these words up on google and planting them in my head pretty well, I reinforce them by playing the games on My Japanese Coach. In a few months, I should have about 8000 Japanese words memorized. Once you get past lesson 100 in this game, it is pretty tough to force yourself to keep at it but you just have to make yourself do it.

Now if I could just find something to help me out with verbs because I have a hard time remembering all those tenses. If anyone knows of something that helped them with Japanese verbs, please leave me a comment.』

(My Japanese Coach)
『This is one of the better Japanese teaching programs which I have used over the years. It is more fun than most and gives you almost the same ability to improve your Japanese. Since I have purchased this learning program, I have studied more and learned much, some which is new and some which I had forgotten. It is still necessary to do other studying, but you can learn with this program. Unless you don't already have a Nintendo DS this learning game is inexpensive.』

(This is not a learning supplement, this is a game.)
『I was pretty excited when I first heard of this as many others were. At the time, I was an intermediate level speaker of Japanese (somewhere between JLPT 3 and 2). I thought this would be a supplement to what I have learned and enforce old topics and learn new ones. Sadly this was not anything close to that. I don't really mind that they teach with romaji, that is easier for beginning learners (plus in major cities they now have translations/romaji everywhere).

What I couldn't stand was the pace. It was sluggish. I got a perfect on the "placement test" and I think it started me off at lesson 11. Lesson 11 was pertaining to information taught in my 101 class. So basically the program expects that no user will have a knowledge greater than one semester of a college course. So I figured it couldn't possibly take long to get up to where I want to get to. Once again I was mistaken. You HAVE to play the vocab games and get the words correct a certain amount of times before you can move to the next lesson. I got to around level 19 and it was still 101 material. I got frustrated because I had spent at least a couple hours just trying to get to the correct level I need to be at and I was still not even a quarter way there.

So if you're looking for a simplified way to learn Japanese from scratch, this wouldn't be a horrible tool. From what I saw, it's easier to use than Rosetta Stone (Don't get me started on that program.) As others noted Kanji stroke order is not enforced so it's essentially useless for that. I don't say that to be anal-retentive about stroke order, but learning correct stroke order is a must if you want to learn higher level Kanji. I was disappointed that they enforce poor handwriting of hiragana. For example in hand writing "ki" and "sa" should not be connected at the bottom. If you don't connect them in the software, it doesn't recognize it. I know the technology exists because I use Kanji Dictionary: Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten and that has no problem recognizing characters.

There are many complaints of stroke order of the hiragana. Personally I have seen so many people write kana so many different ways I hardly noticed (other than the "ki" and "sa" thing) IE "so" is sometimes written with 2 even 3 strokes. Likewise "to" is sometimes 1 (ok I guess that's just laziness though). For hiragana stroke order/count I don't consider as crucial as kanji so this is passable (it might just make you look a little awkward). From what I saw Kanji stroke order looked acceptable.

So bottom line: Good for absolute beginners. Bad for experienced speakers. This software will not make you fluent in Japanese, it might give you a nice foundation for the language though. To be fluent without immersion it takes a long time and hard study.』

(Great for review)
『I previously studied Japanese, and this has been a great review program. My cousin who never studied Japanese has enojoyed learning it with this game as well.』

(A lot of fun if you are a beginner)
『I bought this for my 12 year old daughter who has a passion for manga so wanted to learn some basic Japanese. It is an easy to use game that is fun to use, and you can make quick progress with it. The games make the practice interesting, and having the voice coach is really useful. You can practice writing Japanese, and although not 100% accurate with some characters it is again quick and fun to learn from. This is a great game for anyone interested in Japanese who wants to learn basics without being too concerned about accuracy. Certainly a good introduction.』

(An Addictive Game, But It Cheats)
『My wife should be writing this review but she is busy playing with the reviewee. I bought this game for my wife several months ago to use with her Nintendo DS. She is addicted to Nintendo DS Scrabble. However, a warning for anyone in hearing proximity to someone playing this game. It can cause loud screams and bad language from the player. And for good reason. The little grimlin in the game that you play against cheats BIG-TIME. He makes up words that have not yet been coined in the English language - and he gives you no opportunity to challenge him. I suspect he is from a far-off land and uses wikipedia to find his words. Well, its time for me to put my ear plugs back in. The little grimlin is apparently at it again.』

(Awesome)
『Absolutely love this review, however they could have left the dictionary for the downloadable single card play. It makes it difficult when you have a question about a word that you have to wait for your turn to try the word first then everyone sees the letters that you have. That would be the only change I would make to the game. Play it all the time.』

(I am SOOOO disappointed)
『I purchased this game because I love playing the traditional board game so much. Oh how disappointing this is. Not just disappointing but frustrating. The tiles do not drag and drop on the board as one would assume they would, and as the directions indicate. They twitch and then drop elsewhere. If you manage to get one on the board, then the second one trembles and sends all the tiles back to your rack.

I went so far as to seek out troubleshooting on EA's website and found nothing. Then I went to Nintendo's and went through the task of recalibrating the touch screen. That seems to have made it worse.

As a person who has played this game on a tabletop more than 40 years I find all the two letter words played against me ridiculous.

Long and short of this is, play the board game version. This game, in the hands of the wrong person, could end up with a DS laying on the floor in pieces.

My copy of EA Scrabble is going back to the store, where I will lose money because I purchased it new. Does Selchow and Righter know what EA has done to their game?』

(Great Game)
『This game brings back lots of memories from playing the original on the SNES. The added movies can be turned off for a classic feel but I think they add more enjoyment to the whole experience.』

(The Quintessential Chrono Trigger)
『OK - so maybe it isn't the ideal quintessential version, but it is the best one out there so far.

The game originally came out on the S-NES, was ported to the Sony PS with beautiful animated cut-scenes, and now it is a DS Game with the most features to date.

The game itself was flawless on the Super Nintendo. The PS version had lag-time due to CD-ROM load. The DS Version boasts a beautiful touchscreen control scheme, includes the cut-scenes, lots of unlockable informational extras, extra quests, a new english translation, and a new ending.

I have replayed Chrono Trigger several times on SNES and emulator, and I had a blast replaying it on the DS. The new english translation is not essential, but I highly enjoyed it! The new ending was the most exciting aspect of the game as it expands upon the original story.

Did I mention that Chrono Trigger, the story, the characters, the imagination, the style are all beautiful, classic, and iconic. Well they are.
This is easily one of the best rpgs, no, best games of all times. I really wish they would do a quality motion picture big screen adaption. It would be awesome to see Hayao Miyazaki and his amazing Ghibli Artists bring this thing to life. Anyways I digress.

The new quests are tedious, tedious, tedious! They do not add anything. They really suck! But the new ending that is unlocked is worth it!

I cannot recommend this game enough (especially this version). Yes, ideally, they would have remade the game in 3D with voice-overs,and done well, that would have been MUCH better; still this is the best version to own right now.

Chrono Trigger is a classic, and it still more than holds up to this day. Now if only they will remake it with enhanced graphics or a big screen movie adaption, I will get that!

(Just like the good ol' days...)
『Having played some of the previous "throwback" games for the DS and Advance, I was a little skeptical about playing Chrono Trigger through again. Chrono Trigger had a special place in my heart growing up and I didn't want to ruin it! Playing Final Fantasy IV through again for me was kind of like watching a movie from your childhood years later. You remember it being awesome, but then you watch it again and are unimpressed. All of this is to say that part of me wanted to leave Chrono in my memories, but my sister got it for me for my birthday even though I am 28 years old so I couldn't resist!

Boy am I glad that I got it. Chrono Trigger is everything that I remembered it to be. The storyline, in my opinion, is still among the best that Squaresoft/SquareEnix has ever put out. The SNES was the pinnacle of the console RPG in my time period and Chrono Trigger is just one more example of why I always say that!

I know that some people can find the fights repetitive, but those of us who are used to console RPGs expect this from the game. Still, you can speed up various aspects of the combat (such as text, combat speed, and enemy action during menu usage) which really picks up the pace.

The cut scenes that were added in are okay. They are a little bit too "anime" if you know what I mean. I wouldn't have been upset if they didn't add them at all, but I wasn't disappointed with them either. The split screen makes for a user friendly gaming experience, the music is still catchy and among the best to grace a video game, and the various sub-plots are captivating. Would I recommend Chrono Trigger? You betcha! Great game. Buy it today.

Now if they would only re-release the original Secret of Mana for DS...』

(Chrono Trigger DS)
『It's a good game, great plot, but battle gets repetitive, especially later in the game and there isn't a whole lot of replay value...』

(It's About Time)
『There are many who feel that Chrono Trigger is the greatest game ever made. Certainly it is one of the greatest RPGs ever made, in my own experience equaled only perhaps by Final Fantasy VII (never did care for any other Final Fantasy games). It's a rolicking-good-time for fans of adventure and sci-fi, and as RPGs go a whole lot of fun. More than that, the genius of its design and brilliance of its story is not debatable. It's legendary. Even better, it makes for a game that's fun!

When I first started the game I was wondering exactly how the game would make me feel. I like the deep story of RPGs, but hate dungeon crawling, random battles, and that very irritating feeling of having absolutely no idea where to go next to get the story moving again. I need not have feared, though. Chrono trigger has no random battles, it's castles and dungeons are brief not every-lasting, and thankfully, you will always know where to go next.

The story starts with you in your village on the day of the millenial fair, and you quickly meet a girl there and (using your friend's new teleportation machine) find the girl gone and yourself back in time trying to rescue a queen who has been kidnapped (and who your friend has been mistaken for because {surprise, surprise} she is the crown princess and the descent of that queen. You have some adventures come back to your time, get put on trial for kidnapping the princess, and see one of the greatest scenes in any videogame ever, as all your actions in the first hour of the game are played back as evidence against or for you. Eventually you get out of that situation (one way or another) and find yourself again traveling through time, only to find that the world was destroyed by a monster far in the future, unless you can stop it...

The prologue is awesome but the main story of the game is really amazing. You have all the classic trapping of a great legend, from a hero turned into an animal, to an ancient sword that has to be reforged, to a princess and an unlikely hero out to save the world. That's enough to make a good game. What propels Chrono Trigger into greatness is the power the story is given by the strength of the characters and writing, and absolutely fantastic presentation and gameplay. The game is loaded with humor character, from the little girl accusing you of not rescuing her cat at the trial, to a tiny furry creature who is the master magician (and keeps popping up in different times doing everything from hiking on the mountain of monsters to playing rag-time on the piano in an inn), from the goblins who wonder why you just popped out of a time portal in their closet to the Frog who talks in noble Shakesparian and the cute robot you find in the future. There were so many times when I played this game and felt real joy in the moments it presented. When I first discovered the robot in the future and his theme played, I felt attached to him instantly (he's so cuuuute), and when the hero frog leapt off saying he had failed to protect the queen, I felt so bad for him (he was really handy with sword and saved my bacon). That's the kind of thing that gets to you. I haven't felt that way about an RPG since Xenosaga's Cyborg said "Call me Ziggy", and Final Fantasy VII had girls asking a certain brooding hero whether he remembered his promise or would be their bodyguard.

It cannot be overstated how much the lack of random battles, and the constant boss battles (which you will almost always win) increase the amount of fun you have with this game. The excellent battle system which highly encourages teamwork amoung your party keeps you constantly on your toes and nervous that you could lose the battle, and never gets tedious or frustrating. The graphics may be old-school, but that about as good sprite-based graphics get. The music is very atmospheric and catchy, and the main themes are just beautiful. The story twists and turns, and how you play can determine the way certain events unfold (the game has more than one ending and you can even play past the "end"). But above all, the story and characters are just impossible not to love if you like a good story. If you like RPGs and don't mind if they're a little old, you will LOVE this game.』

Crono bravely follows in pursuit, but the world into which he emerges is one of four centuries ago. In Chrono Trigger prepare yourself to journey into the forgotten past, distant future, and even to the very End of Time.

The Worlds of Past, Present and Future
In Chrono Trigger you'll journey back to Prehistory (65,000,000 B.C.) where humans and reptiles battle to wipe each other from existence. Antiquity (12,000 B.C.) is an age where the world is divided between people whose continent is buried in snow, and the magical kingdom of Zeal, a highly advanced civilization. The Middle Ages (600 A.D.) is an era of swords and sorcery, a dark time when the armies of Fiendlord rule over the land.

The Present (1000 A.D.) is the time period in which Crono, Lucca and Marle live. It is a bright and peaceful age. However, in the Future (2300 A.D.), an era of despair has taken hold with rogue machines ruling the world. After the day of the apocalypse in 1999 A.D., the prosperous civilization of humanity crumbled and the remaining people struggle to stay alive. And, finally, there remains the End of Time -- a place with no era to call its own. This confluence of time's streams transcends spatiotemporal boundaries. It is here at the gravitational center for all temporal flotsam that Spekkio -- the Master of War -- serves as your guide on time's treacherous roads.

Battle Systems and gameplay
This game utilizes a revised version of the groundbreaking Active Time Battle (ATB) System. Chrono Trigger features exhilarating combat in which the clock is constantly ticking. Characters must first wait as the ATB gauges charge, and then perform an action. This makes strategic timing a crucial element in your battle plan. In addition to standard attacks, each character has an array of special Tech skills and powerful combos known as Dual and Triple Techs. Cooperate with other characters to unleash over 50 unique and devastating moves!

(Disappointing)
『When I saw the cover, I instantly thought this was going to be a good seek and find game. Once I received it, I was disappointed because it is just like the "Mystery PI" game. I guess next time I will take the time to read the specs before I just buy.』

(Love the game, it's almost perfect.)
『The game is fun and entertaining. Love the mini games.

This game could of been perfect had the makers included some kind of magnifying tool to use on searching for small things, like bugs, keys, etc.

While playing I find the things I can see and for the little stuff, I use my own magnifying glass for the small things. Would of been very helpful if the game actually had one built in. How hard could that of been?

All in all it's a fun and entertaing game. Just some things are hard to see.

This game is very similar to PI Mystery.』

(Great puzzle hidden object game)
『Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins is a mystery type, seek-n-find game. Although it is basically a wannabe of the Nintendo's Mystery title, it's still a decent puzzle game to play on the Nintendo DS.

The gameplay consists of several mini-games such as jigsaw puzzles and memory tests. There are 20 missions each consisting of 5 levels of gameplay. The game cycles through seek-n-find puzzle to mini-game to seek-n-find and so on. This flow seems to work well in this game because the mini-games present some needed refreshment to the constant, repetitive nature of the seek-n-find.

PopCap has released a casual but solid, simple puzzle game that is well worth the admission price.』

(Seek&Find)
『This is another seek&find game I bought and is just as much fun as Mystery PI: Portrait of a Thief. This makes my total 3 and am still looking for more of them. These are enjoyable for many, many hours even after you have solved the mystery.』

(amazing ruins)
『The game is really fun during the first time around but it starts to repear and then becomes a repeat of the places with different things to find.』
『Travel to an archaeological dig to unearth a lost Mayan temple and its priceless treasure in this exclusive story for Nintendo DS』
