(I think RF2 is decent, but could have been better.)

(I got it for half price)

(Rune Factory 2)

(A nice game, but it feels a bit rushed...)

(Good follow up game)
The bright box caught me, and I ended up buying the game right when it came out. Right now, late June 2009, is a few months since then. Now that I am almost towards the end of the storyline part of the game, I feel I can make a good heads up for everyone else.

From playing the SNES Harvest Moon, and PS2 Save the Homeland(and by the way I didn't like either of them) - and this is my first RF game, I thought I kind of had an idea of what to come for Rune Factory 2. I wasn't too far off, the game is basically about farming, raising money and raising family, like most Harvest Moon related games. The game plays in a simple manner. Unlike the Harvest Moon games, though, this game, Rune Factory 2, is structured fairly well, easy to control, and there are a lot of things to do with plenty of free time. All those factors made me feel that it's a better game than HM games that I played, despite that RF2 requires patience and a seperate piece of memo paper, and I just wish that the developers didn't make the game so obvious and rough around the edges. I'm going to explain why I felt that later on.

Starting from the stuff I liked - the game is well structured. By that, I mean that it's very neatly organized. Graphics are very clear - it's very clear which patch of land is meant for farming and not. It's clear which patch of water can be used for fishing. The map on top DS screen puts your character exactly where your character is, on scale. It's so spot on that if I need to rush through dungeons, I can navigate just by looking at the map and not the actual screen. I can look at the character's Health or stamina, which is represented by two bars, and know how close I am pushing it before my character faints. I really do appreciate the graphics of the game in that sense.
Another thing is that the devs put some thought behind controls. It's easy to sell and buy stuff; all you have to sell is to move items from your character's inventories to the merchant's inventory, and to buy, you take the merchant's items from her/his inventory and move it to your inventory. As far as basic controls go, all of four face buttons are assigned to an action of a kind; X is for controlling your pet monster, Y is for magic attack, B is the item, and A is for whatever tool or weapon you have equipped. To switch to another magic/item/tool in inventoryhold L and the corresponding face button. This interface is very handy when fighting monsters, because it's fast and easy to change equipment as needed on the fly. The only oddball control in the game is that to run, you press R shoulder button once and your character stays in "run mode" where s/he will run all the time until R button is pressed again(then, s/he would just walk all the time). The otherwise excellent controls help, because there are a lot to do in the game.
The game has a lot of chores that your character can do for reward. The reward is either small money, an item, or simply friendship boost. This is good way to spend time when your typical mining/fishing/farming routine is done, and helps the game become less boring, which IMO is one of the biggest flaws of other HM games. In RF2 this is also a primary way of moving forward in the story. The quests are more rewarding than what you can do with townsfolks from HM games, I think this was why the game was more addictive. After quests are done, it's easy to permanently save progress, as a portable games should be. There is a save spot every 5 or 6 games, so if really urgent, I have been able to save a game progress in less than a minute. Those traits all make a great basis of a good game - good interface, good controls and addictive play. So much in fact that they make the shortcoming of RF2 more obvious. IMO the game could have been a lot better, but I can tell that it was rushed.

I'll now move onto the things that test patience. It's not exactly a secret that Marvelous Entertainment's games are usually glitchy. Rune Factory 2 runs better than most other games from that dev, but so far I have to be careful especially when Mana was teaching cooking receipes in second generation. If I had chosen the "wrong" lesson to learn at the wrong time, the game would freeze mid-lesson. Eventually I got to learn all the things Mana and Barrett teaches, but it's still annoying.
Another thing is that there are a lot of things to memorize. So much, that without a piece of paper to note, the only other option for a player to take is to cheat and use a guide. Townsfolks actually do tell you most of the things needed to progress, it's just that after a while they stop, and the player is screwed at that point. I bought the game early when there wasn't really a guide available and this resulted in a lot of trial and error process for me that I felt wasn't necessary.
Oh, that leaves to a few final minor complaint for me. The game really skips on little details at times. For one, there are a few good ideas in combat. Problem is that a lot of them is done to you by the monsters and you can't do the same thing back to them. The enemies can gang up and do these crazy combos on you, and they can also knock you into the walls, leaving you dizzy. Some enemies can attack while being hit, they can paralyze you, and silence you. Guess what you can't do. Plus, there are shields for you that you can't really use to block anything, it just reduces damages. I mean, to me, it it looks like a total waste to put something in the game that can't be done by you.
It also isn't very cunning. The game is divided into two "generations" where half of the game is blocked the first few tens of hours. It's really, really obvious where those area are. For instance, there's a road that CLEARLY leads to some other places that is blocked off with a fence or stone statues. When you try to examine it, RF2 will tell you "I can't pass", or "I can't read the words on the statues." I mean, that kinda kills the mood, don't you think? The game's not really good at all at pleasantly surprising the player. Maybe it's to the weak writing that is to blame. I think you may have noticed, but the story is really really lame. The characters are kind of interesting though, so it luckily evens out in the end.
By the way, speaking of the characters, most people if they're like me, will have some hard time adjusting to the character portraits. They're all blushing all the time, I mean this game is Japanese and all, but that's really distracting.

Thanks for reading my review. Obviously, the game was enjoyable enough for me to not mind writing out this long script. For me the game felt like a mix of Princess Maker 2 and Diablo, but for children instead of adults. It's very off beat compared to a lot of other RPGs out there, and while it's not the best of its kind I think it's worth playing. I recommend buying it when it falls into 10~20 dollar ranges.

The game was half price when I bought this. I like it, and I have not complaints. I have not played it much yet, but my roommate is addicted to it (he has his own copy). Give this one a try for sure, especially if you like harvest moon and animal crossing. They are all very very similar. Thank you seller.
I think this game is really fun. I haven't gotten past the first generation yet, but it is really awesome. I would recommend this game for 7 and up. It takes a little bit of reading, but it is fun. Totally get this game!!!
I second what others have said about the typoes. They are legion! Seriously, if you can play for even 1 hour without running into a typo, grammatical error, or text glitch, you are very lucky. Here's a few samples of the typoes that I can recall off the top of my head... When you buy a Recovery Potion from the Hospital (for 3 Herbs and 300g), after the potion is mixed up, the game tells you that you got an Insect Skin (instead of a Recovery Potion). When you give a Sweet Potato to Rosalind, she calls you Aaron (even though your name is Kyle). Apparently the translation team had trouble agreeing on what to call some of the items. Several items are referred to by multiple names (Ex: Sweet Potatoes and Yams).

The "my game slows down when I'm in my barn or on the docks" glitch is graphical lag. If 4 or more characters/monsters are on the screen at one time, the game slows to a crawl. It's like super slow-motion! The whole game lags noticably compared to Rune Factory 1 (which runs very fast), but when you get multiple characters in the same screen, the game grinds nearly to a halt. Mayhap the graphics engine could have done with a bit more debugging.

That being said, there are good parts, too. There is more story and text, the ability to choose your gender in the 2nd part of the game, the monster AI has been seriously upgraded, the game is more challenging (which is nice for those of us who beat RF1 in less than a year of game time), the scene backdrops are amazing, and the opening song is very nicely sung and animated.

In short, if the lag doesn't bother you too badly, it's a nice game. It could have used more polishing and debugging before being released, though.

Signed, Pamela T.

This game is a nice follow up from the first Rune Factory. It has some of the same characters, so it ties into the first game. I like the second generation that this game offers... multiple stories to follow this way. Something oddly soothing about farming electronically...
Rune Factory 2 is set several years after the first game. The evil Sechs Empire has been defeated, and the Kingdom of Norad is once again at peace. Things may not stay that way for long, however, as dark premonitions foretell of dangers to come. It’s up to the player to uncover the source of these premonitions and bring peace to the kingdom once more. Over the course of the story, players will build and develop a farm, befriend townspeople, raise monsters, take on quests, and find a wife. Rune Factory 2 offers innovative Touch Screen controls, easy-to-use menus, and an all-new compelling storyline.

(good game, too much)

(great game for a kid)

(May be almost the same as Explorers of Time, but also just as fun)

(A definite improvement over the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon)

(Good but for kids 7+)
it was a good game, but it was way to much for what it was
My 9 year old loves it, spends hours playing it. Great price, fast shipping.
A friend of mine bought me Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness after she found out that I had bought Explorers of Time. And I love it just as much. This game just keeps all my attention. I play this game to relax and unwind. It feels very different from Explorers of Time, even though it's not different by much. I have not finished either game yet, but I still enjoyed the games as much as the first day I got them. This game is incredibly fun. I love it!
This game has a much better storyline than the first game. The overall gameplay is the same but I found it to be much more fun. And another improvement over the previous game is that it lasts much longer; you can play all day and you still won't beat it. I gave it 4 stars because it's impossible not to compare it to other games like Pokemon Red version, Silver version, Ruby version, Diamond version, etc. That original series wins over all other Pokemon games because of their repeatability. I think playing this game more than two times would be stretching it. But that's ok because it takes so long to beat it once! Overall it's a must-have for almost anyone with a DS and willing to play a kind of kiddy game.
My 7 year old son is new to the world of gaming and the DS--we got this game along with Mario Kart, and he quickly dismissed this Pokemon game and went with the Kart 100%. I think the depth of the game, and the amount of reading required is a bit much for younger kids to enjoy, but we will revisit in about a year or so. My recommendation-- 7+ years old, and the player has to have attention span and ability to deal with the frustration of not being able to get out of a dungeon, etc.
You've been washed ashore on a beach and there's a Pokemon beside you who needs your help to find treasure. You've been transformed into a Pokemon. Your form is determined by a Pokemon personality test in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Darkness. Return to a fantastic land untouched by humans as you form a rescue team to solve the mystery of your transformation and find the lost treasure. Join hundreds of Pokemon in randomly-generated dungeons. Online compatibility enhances strategic exploration and battles. Explore long-lost dungeons or hunt down criminal Pokemon. The choice is yours in this open-ended game.

(NO GLITCHES AT ALL!!)

(Few gliches but overall fun!)

(Excellent gift)

(Good game, but it definitely has issues)

(Boring, confusing and frustrating...)
i almost did not buy this game because of all the reviews saying glitches well iam very happy i bought it anyways i have played it every day since i got it and i have not had even 1 glitch so dont hesitate just buy it like i said there are no glitches
I really like Harvest moon ds! I got it by accident 'cause my aunt didn't realize that I wanted MFoMT instead of this. But MAN! It's so much fun! Yes I did have the freezing up glich but started over and found the legendary sword which I hadn't found in the past game! I also had all the makers, the stocking, triggered lots of events I hadn't done before, and almost have all the harvest sprites! I do miss my old gameplay and sometimes wish it wasn't messed up. But my new gameplay is awsome! I totally reccomned this game! Happy harvesting!
X-Mas gift for my wife. She plays the Harvest Moon series of games and has both Rune Factory games. Naturally she likes this game too.
I have been a big fan of the Harvest Moon games for a long time... I have bought every single one that they brought out for the PS2 Platform.. So needless to say when I heard that they were finally coming out with a Harvest Moon game for the DS I was exhilirated! The only reason I dropped this game down on both ratings to 4 is because the game freezes up on me at least twice a week... It will also sometimes have my farmland on the game scrambled and my character can't walk around and till, water or plant crops in the soil. Sometimes if I just go inside my house and come back out, the scrambled screen will go away, but 50% of the time I have to turn the DS off and restart it. I have never had this happen with any of my other Harvest Moon games. Even with this, the rest of the game is quite engaging. It will not deter me from buying newer Harvest moon games on any of the platforms... I plan on buying future DS Harvest moon games as well.
This game frustrated the hell out of me. I chopped up wood and stuff for awhile and tried to make things grow but really didn't succeed. I didn't really know what to do next and wasn't enthralled with growing things or the gameplay so I quit and escorted my copy to gamestop for reselling. You can get it there :)
Harvest Moon DS is a new adventure is the popular, pastoral Harvest Moon setting. The Witch Princess conjured up a prank that went too far -- now it's up to you to restore the magic of Forget-Me-Not Valley. Seek out all 101 Harvest Sprites as you plant fields, tend livestock and find the right wife to share your farming dreams. As you find the missing Harvest Sprites they can help with chores around the farm. Some might even unlock various activities or important information.

(Great game few even know about)

(One of a kind - A must have for a DS owner)

(It's a Nintendo DS Book, Not a Game)

(Great Mystery Game)

(Great for 11 yr olds :))
I am new to DS games and thought the convenience of the DS was something I wanted to try. All I can say is it really delivers. Most games are fun and diverting, but this one is a diamond in the rough. Being a lover of mystery games I was very surprised how great this game is. The shame is I could have easily missed it because not many people know about it. Holding the DS like a book is a nice feature and seems to make the story come alive. The plot line is done in a way that holds your interest. I couldn't put it down. No TV for me until I finished it. It was GREAT! I was sorry it ended. If you want to enjoy your DS and feel like you are a part of the story unfolding in the game, you can't miss with this one. We need a lot more like this one.
Adventure games are coming back on the DS, and Hotel Dusk Room 215 is the crown pick of the crop. Involving storyline, beautiful art direction, intuitive controls. This ones gonna keep you up all night until you found out what's the secret behind room 215.

A must own for anyone who likes a good story.

This game isn't my cup of tea. I wanted to love it, but was disappointed in the end. I didn't even finish the game.

I love puzzle/adventure games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. I thought this game was in the genre, but I was mistaken. There's too much dialogue and not enough puzzle solving. You find yourself in conversations that go on and on. If I wanted to read this much I'd pick up a book. At least there could be an option to skip some of the dialogue.

If you're patient enough to sit through long in-game dialogue, then you might like this game. If you want an equal amount of dialogue and puzzle solving, then this game isn't for you.

I like this game. It's a good game but the dialogue kinds of run long. Other than that its a intersting mystery that is just waiting to be unraveled.
My 11 (almost 12) yr old daughter loves this game, and actually played it until the end. It made her pay attention to alot of things in her *surroundings* that she would otherwise ignore.

Part hard-boiled detective story, and part interactive mystery,Hotel Dusk: Room 215is an intriguingly addictive yarn that takes place over the course of one night; December 24, 1979.

Game Storyline
Kyle Hyde, a disgraced New York detective turned salesman, arrives at a run-down Los Angeles inn called Hotel Dusk. Once there, Kyle soon becomes involved in a 30-year-old mystery that involves lies, betrayal, kidnapping, and murder.

Wander into the Hotel Dusk and find yourself part of a 30-year-old mystery.

Unveil the secrets of the main character, Kyle Hyde. View larger.

Unique dual screen gameplay makes the mystery all the more engaging. View larger.
And over the course of the night, he will also discover something very special about Room 215, a room that is said to grant wishes.

But who is Kyle Hyde? Why does his past haunt him? And what happened in Room 215? Only by taking a stylus in hand and navigating through the story's twists and turns can you learn the answers.

Gameplay
Players hold their Nintendo DS like a book and use the touch screen to grill characters, search for clues, and solve mystifying puzzles. Simple point-and-click touch screen navigation allows for players of any skill level to play.

Hotel Dusk uses branching storylines to tell its tale, giving you many options for how to go about solving the mystery. Should you strong-arm a suspicious stranger in the hallway? Be friendly to the hotel maid? Pretend to be interested in the manager's rambling stories? It's all up to you, but choose wisely. One false step could get you thrown out of the hotel and forever seal the mystery of what happened on that dark Christmas eve so many years ago.

(very nice)

(Stop the Decepticons!!)

(Loved it!)

(Good entertainment for Kids)

(Poor Game)
This game was great! I read other reviews and they were right on! FUn fun fun!
This is a fun and engaging game on its own, but then there is the multiplayer aspect of the game where you and your fellow autobots struggle to win pieces of the cube to save the universe!
You can scan lots of cars, change cars whenever you want, blow stuff up&beat-up lots of decepticons.
I gave this and also the Kung-fu panda cartridge to my 6 years old son.
And this is the one he choose to play all the time on his DS.....
From my point of view, graphics could be little more elaborated and some steps of the game should come followed by instructions (my son took a while to discover how to scan a car until his 3 years older cousin discover how to do it)....
But since my son is playing this one all the time instead of the other (Kung-fu Panda) I would say that's a good entertainment at least for him....

This game was pretty simple and got boring quickly. The level of detail in the game was about equivalent to the games I played as a young kid on the original nintendo, and the plots were quite repetetive: go find this and kill it, go protect this, get here, etc.
It was about transformers and it was fun to be able to transform into cool cars and even a helicopter, but I got bored with the game very quickly and never finished it. It might be alright for young kids who loved the movie, but it would take a young kid to not see through the repetitiveness of the missions.

Transformers: Autobots lets gamers control the outcome in the battle for Earth. Help protect the Earth using the unstoppable power of the Autobots. Fight through multiple levels as you take command of popular Transformers like Bumblebee, Barricade and others. Based on the live-action feature film.

(MUST HAVE!!!!!!)

(Great program to improve your different types of vision)

(I am Flash Focused now!)

(Fun Way To Strengthen Your Eyes)

(Flash Focus)
A lot like brain age but you work on your eye and hand coordination, reaction time and flash memorization skills. The sports exercises deal with eye, hand coordination and reaction time while the flash memorization exercises engages you when information is quickly flashed on the screen and you have to remember what you saw and where you saw it.

I find the sports exercises more enjoyable than the memory ones but overall a lot fun....

Huge bonus is that now I am more aware or more accurately alert to what is around me while I am out and about in the world. My ability to retain more information and my reaction time has improved.....

Anyway, I highly recommend this game!!!

This game has a quick start and a daily program. The quick start does a rudimentary assessment of your visual age. There are 4 profiles that you can create for each member of a small family or a group of friends. Based upon your speed and how well you perform, it compares your chronological age with your visual age.

Two types of training are available, sports and basic training. Tests are used to determine a broader scope of your visual age. Hand-Eye Coordination, Peripheral Vision, Dynamic Visual Acuity, Momentary Vision and Eye Movement are tested using various specific tasks. At the conclusion of daily training, you have eye relaxation exercises with voice prompts. You can do the 5 programmed training lessons based upon your visual age or you can do a custom program. With each skill set, there is a "normal" and "advanced" level. Only data from the first task is saved. There are charts that plot your progress/improvement or decline in skills.

Overall, this is a simplistic program that will help your visual abilities on a daily basis. It is a great cognitive tool for adults and kids to play.

I highly recommend this program.

I have improved my eye age considerably using this game. I had no idea my eye age was that far off from my real age, but what the heck!

If you are looking for something to keep you busy for 10-20 minutes a day that will help you feel younger . . . this is one of those games.

I bought this fairly recently. I enjoy it much more than BrainAge 1 or 2. The "training" is addictive and a great deal of fun, especially the baseball. I was getting bored with Brain Age, but I have picked it up and can't put it down. You need to play where you can't be disturbed, so you can concentrate. It is for adults. The games might be a little too complicated for kids. Adults, however, will find it easy to follow and I only had to read the directions once. I would love to have more like this. Definitely worth the price.
Very fun. Have enjoyed this game even more than the Brain Age 2 game.

    (great for car travel)

    (Neat bundle!)

    (Horrible)

    (Assessories for Nintendo DS)

    (Excellent and funtional product)
Traveling to FL by car and needed a way to keep the DS charged and games in one place. This does it all and also includes a nice docking station for when we get home. Love the ear buds so instead of having competitions of whose DS can be louder, the adults can have peace on the road trip. For this price, more than a bargain.
I really liked this bundle. I ordered it from amazon as I compared prices and found the same bundle more expensive at walmart (sorry walmart). I like the way the table-top charger illuminates when plugged in (you'll need an actual DS AC charger to do this; it's not included)! The screen protectors are always a nice save! As for the case itself, it's quite snug which I suppose isn't suppose to be a bad thing, but I would think I'm not supposed to struggle zipping the case closed with the DS inside. If it wasn't for the "tight" case, I would've given the bundle 5-stars! But if you're searching for a deal, this one is the way to go!
The Nintendo DSI does not fit inside the case. The case broke the same day I got it. The desk charger doesn't come with a power adaptor. The screen protectors cover part of the screen so my daughter couldn't see parts of the game. DO NOT buy this product unless you don't mind wasting your hard earned money.
I like having the charger 'stand', it even doubles as a night light;.
The other items in the bundle will be good to use when going places. And I have already used the screen savers. Good buy

Hi, I am from Venezuela, the product is excellent and very funtional,My daughter was very satisfied with the gift. In the shop amazon are very reliable, and the product Dreamgear is of very good quality,

    (Great product)

    (Very Good)

    (Great stylus)

    (Good quality)

    (Great product!)
I had never applied a protective filter before, but I got this on without much trouble. Got a couple bubbles on the top screen and none on the bottom. Product is clear and the included stylus is pretty nice. I would recommend this to anybody wanting a protected screen.
Does exactly what it's supposed to. Protects my DSi screen and the extra stylus are great.
I bought this primarily for the stylus. And the stylus is great, it fits my hand well and feels more natural and comfortable than the one that is included with the DSi. The screen protector is exactly every other screen protector I have ever seen. It was impossible to put on without getting dust between it and the screen. I properly cleaned the screen ahead of time and was in a relatively dust free environment, however the static charge on this was very high and it attracted 3 large pieces of debris. I think anyone who says they don't have these problems either applies them in a clean lab or just can't see the bubbles (every product I have ever seen in real life like this has always had bubbles from dust, no matter what the owner said).

So in short, buy it for the stylus but don't expect anything from the screen protector.

If you have a good method of putting on these, which I did not, they are really thick, clear and hardly noticeable. They don't, however, come with a card or something to make sure you have a uniform seal without bubbles and i ruined mine. A pro is that when i was trying to REMOVE them to fix the bubble, it took over 5 mins of prying to actually lift the seal. I would recommend getting some latex gloves when your trying to put these on.
Normally screen protectors bother me a whole lot and always seem to trap dust particles underneath them or air bubbles. While the top screen did give me issues [i ended up just taking the top screen protector off and throwing it out] the bottom screen protector, which is the most important went on pretty good and theres only 1 tiny spec of dust and when the screen is on, you cant even see it. So im very very happy with this product because I feel it'll protect my touch screen very well.
The Stylus it comes with is also very very very nice. Touch screen intensive games like Zelda really benefit from this other the standard DSi stylus.

    (Great Buy!!)

    (Not useful at all.)

    (It works)

(Like others said the fit is tight)

    (Works Well)
Awesome product. Delivery was fast and the battery does last twice as long as the smaller version. Great price too.
I waste my money. This is a useless product. You need not to waste your money behind this kind of product. I am not recommonding this product to any one.
Used this to replace the battery in my Cowon iAudio X5. After a little modification, a little electrical tape, and some soldering, works perfectly. Definitely an improvement on the 3 hrs I was getting with my old battery.
I originally purchased this product because I thought there was a problem with my original DS battery. It turns out I had to send my DS lite in for repair, to Nintendo (which by the way was a plesant experience 5 STARS!!!).

Like others have stated, this battery is a little tight but it will fit. I have never run it down to empty so I don't have an opinon on the battery life.

I have a Gloss Black DS Lite. Oh and yes I paid like $2.00 for it on Amazon. I am giving it three stars because of the snug fit.

Very nice, I use it a lot.
Only negative comment is that the screwdriver did not fit my DS Lite's battery compartment screw.

People to meet, places to see and game levels to conquer. Now you can always have a fully-charged spare battery at your reach. Custom-designed for your DS Lite this spare Battery provides you with hours of gaming time when you're on the go. It also includes a custom screw driver so you can open the compartment and swap batteries in a snap. Say hello to eternal gaming and kiss your playtime issues goodbye!
