(Great Game for the Young Gamer!!)
(DS Hamsterz instead of a real hamster)
(my childs favorite game)
(Great game!) this is a great game for any girl or boy and teaches responsiblity about caring for a pet Great game for the young gamer in your family! My 3 year old LOVES this game!!! She wanted something that she could play since generally speaking her older sister (and dad) hogs the Nintendo DS system. This game is great for her!!! She can't read yet, and has no problems. She could play this game for HOURS!!! Very simple, perfect for the young kids! WHO CARES about Hampsterville or whatever everyone is complaining about.... your kids will have a blast simply playing with their hampsters!!
Side Note: DO NOT get this confused with Hampsterz 2!!!!! I made this mistake and found out the hard way. My daughter originally played Hampsterz because a friend owned it. So I went to the store and got it. Well I got Hampsterz2. The guy at the store said its the same thing, just more features. WRONG!!!!!! Its is COMPLETELY a different game!!!!! and hard too!!! My 7 year old cant stand it!!! There is very little hampster play. You spend most of the game talking to the computer in imaginary friend sequences. After reading information online I discovered my mistake and have since returned the game for the REAL Hampsterz game!!! I bought this for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas. She asked Santa for NDS and a hamster. There was no way I was going to buy a real hamster for her, so I thought that this was a good alternative. She loved it and has figured out most of the features of the game on her own. FYI, the game requires some reading but she figured it out what to do after I read the bits once/twice. My 11 year old daughter loves this game. She says it is the most fun game she has ever played. She gets on it every day to check on her hamster. She love the fact that she can pick and name her own hamster. my daughter named hers Trixie. I would definitly recomend this game for any child that loves animals. It's so much fun! I'll have it on while I'm doing homework. I love the little hamster and watching them play. My favorite is playing the minigames! You can have up to 6 hamsters. It cool! A+++++ In Hamsterz Life, you adopt a cute hamster from different breeds, raise and train him. As your hamster grows stronger, he can build his own Ham-country with its own bakery, school and bookstore and invite other hamsters. Rerations < Hamsterz Life >

(lock's quest review)
(Another hit from 5th Cell)
(Met expectations) Lock's quest: The first time I played it was a couple of weeks ago. I played for hours straight. It was addictive, for I LOVE strategy games, and this game brings strategy to a whole new level. When you begin a battle, or "day", you build a strategiesed defense. After the time limit of a couple minutes is up, you go to the battle. Build mode is kinda fun and easy to use, but you could at least be able to move the camera. Then you begin battle mode. That's fun, with small (VERY small) mini games for the special abilities that activate when you tap a clockwork, to begin fighting it. You could also just sit back and repair your defenses, witch come in 4 types: wood, stone, metal and spiked.
Okay, you know I worked a while on the game. I got to day 50 something, was close to getting metal, was fighting phantoms at a graveyard, when my parents held a party. My little brother's bratty friend came into my room and erased my file. On purpose. JUST TO ANNOY ME.
Never let bratty kids into your room.
This game is from the makers of Drawn to Life which I liked a lot so I figured I would buy it. You play Lock who helps defeat evil characters called clockworks. It's a fun game, good for kids or adults. You get to defend a village, fight in castles and more. Makes good use of the two DS screens. I have only been playing it a day but it seems cool and I can see why it won an award at E3. From PlayingWithMyWeiner.com:
From the folks that brought you Drawn To Life, 5th Cell, comes Lock's Quest, a strategy RPG which recently won IGN.com's Best of E3 Strategy Game award. Don't let the game's faint competition at E3 deter you, though - Lock's Quest is a solid strategy game with a colorful steampunk art style. More importantly it brings the building-type strategy RPG firmly to the DS. You have four different building materials to mine and work with, ala Starcraft or Warcraft, and an able commander in Lock himself. The DS stylus is an excellent building and drawing tool, allowing you to fashion fortresses and walls with ease.
Lock's Quest is a must-buy for RTS and fantasy fans, and a good rental for anyone who wants to try something a little different. Lock's Quest won a best of E3 award which looked promising. The day it came out I grabbed it, and its awesome. The instructions took a while, but most good RPG style DS games do. Story is awesome, innocent but exciting. Gameplay is all about creativity, almost oposite of a hack n slash. Simple yet fun to play. Good Game The Ultimate Construction Combat! A diabolical mechanical army devastates a kingdom as village after village falls under their wrath. Only a young, brave hero, Lock, is the Kingdom's last hope to survive the oncoming invasion. As a newly trained Archineer, Lock must use his skills to build customized towers, traps, walls, weapons, and other defenses in order preserve the precious source artifacts.

(Fun...)
(Imagine Animal doctor)
(Boring)
(adicting, yet a little disappointing) This game is the best one yet. You get to take care of animals, feed, them, pet them, and other things. Once you finish a goal, such as heal five cats, you unlock an animal. You never know which one it is! It's not too hard or too easy. I would recommend it for any age. The only concern is that the instructions aren't very clear. Other than that, I recommend this game! this game was fun at first but after a while i switched to a different game... i love this game very much and have completed the whole game... when you 1st begin the game it is very easy but near the end it gets harder... i recommend this for all ages over 10... I got this game because I love animals and I have similar games like this on my nintendo ds. In this game your character is a vet and helps animals. For each animal you do an exam and if they are not well they get admitted to your animal hospital were you can treat them. I think the only way you can treat them is by petting them and playing with them until their bar becomes green. It is an okay game if you like animals and/or want to become a vet. This game does not have enough to do. All you do is feed it, rub it, and you can only play at least 2 games with the pet. For the all of animals you only get to throw a ball or throw a mouse or throw a carrot. It is very boring. It was a waste of my Christmas money. This isn't your usual nintendo game. If your all about fun and games, I wouldn't reccomend this. If you like caring for animals, or are of the responsible type, then you would like this. Yet boring at times,(unless you call petting an animal with your sylus for 5 to 25 minutes "fun". No joke- I'm not exaggerating. I counted.) on top of that, you have got all these animals waiting for their share of 25 minute petting. Why am I still playing? because it's adicting. VERY ADICTING. I want to play it every second of the day. I'm not sure why. It just do. So it really deppends. If you wouldnt mind petting an animal for 25 minutes, then go for it. after all, that's the Vet buisness, right? If you say "NOO WAYY!" you might be better with something else. Imagine Animal Doctor puts young players in the role of a veterinarian, not only by treating and curing all types of animals, but also by creating new facilities to expand the veterinary hospital. (Vroom Vroom ... (^_^))
(Quite good) This game isn't like he PC version but still as challenging. But you get bored of it real quick especially when certain parts are very challenging to complete such as a Hydralics part of the race. I have no idea how to complete those. Overall it has OK graphixs and good music but I think it's better to buy this game USED or find it in a discount bin. My brother has this for the PC and sadly I dont have a computer that is capable of running the PC version so I thought I'd try the DS version. It's alot of FUN and minus the annoying announcer in the PC version it aint much different aside from the graphics not being so clean. But the racing can keep you occupied for quite awhile and some can be quite challenging. I think Hydraulics are the hardest thing to complete in this game. But overall I think it's worth the buy. The Need for Speed series has been getting better on the DS with every progressing year, and Need for Speed: Prostreet is no different. Undoubtedly the best NFS game to hit the DS yet, Prostreet offers a variety of race and play modes, as well as local Wi-Fi and online race modes (eight players with a single cartridge?, sign me up) to boot as well. Where Prostreet shines is with the surprisingly smooth graphics, albeit there is a somewhat choppy framerate, but regardless the game and cars look surprisingly good. Like the other versions of the game, EA's licensed soundtrack blasts throughout the game, and is sounds good on the DS' small speakers. The game flows well and controls easy enough too, but Prostreet isn't without it's flaws. The custom vinyl editor from last year's Need for Speed: Carbon is gone, and the game's story isn't as coherent as what as what we've seen in the last couple NFS installments, but these gripes are relatively minor for the most part. All in all, if you're in the market for a more than solid street racing game on the go and you own a DS, Need for Speed: Prostreet is definitely more than worth a look. Compete at the highest level of street racing with Need for Speed ProStreet. It's no longer good enough to simply rule your local neighbourhood you need to dominate on a global stage. Build the ultimate battle machine, take it to multi-disciplinary showdowns and pit your skills and reputation against the world's best street racers. Compete on some of the world's most iconic racing locations - Tokyo's Shuto Expressway, the Autobahn and the Nevada desert. The atmosphere is electric - complete with energetic crowds, photo-realistic cars and billowing smoke - all designed to embody the pressure and intensity of the gladiatorial challenge known as Show Down. Need for Speed ProStreet is the realization of the raw power, visceral aggression and intense rivalry that embodies street racing culture. This is your chance to prove that you have what it takes to be crowned the next street king! Once you've designed it share it - the new Blueprints feature lets you upload your visual and performance customization settings online. (Encouragement for this 52yr old.)
(Getting Ready for the Big Day)
(Want to loose weight on your own)
(Too Complicated for a Lazy A** Like Me) I've only used this product for a couple of weeks so far. So far, so good. It mostly just helps you get started moving, and helps show how what you eat relates to the different activities you do.
It's great because it gives you little daily goals. Here's an example of the daily goals: - walk 6,000 steps (which, by the way, is not as far as it may sound) - Do 30 minutes of physical activity - Do one challenge - Balance your food intake with your activity level
I love that "physical activity" pretty much includes any moving around. Most people probably think that they would have to do aerobics for an hour, or run a mile ... something extreme. This program counts household chores, or even shopping as a physical activity. Have to go grocery shopping? That counts as physical activity. Have to vaccuum the carpet, dust, or clean the bathroom? That counts as physical activity too.
The daily challenges are pretty simple too. You have minute challenges, which may include doing 5 sit-ups, or running to your kitchen to find out which spice jar is the fullest. Some are 24 hour challenges, such as don't skip any of the next 3 meals, put away your salt shaker for 24 hours, or research how to make soup from scratch.
Balancing your food intake with your physical activity. You enter what you ate that day. It's a pretty generic list: cereal, soup, sandwich, soda, etc. You feed your stick person what you ate. I find it easier to update it a couple times a day so I'm not trying to remember every little thing I've eaten in the last 16 hours. Each food is worth a certain amount of energy points. Every minute of activity is worth a certain amount of energy points. What's nice is that the program does all the math for you. If you do more activity one day, it automatically updates how many energy points you should take in. Or if you've taken in more points than you've spent, it will let you know that you should probably spend a little more time doing a physical activity.
It also has a few coaching sessions. It's nice because the coaching sessions have a few multiple choice questions to answer. Which means that the coaching is geared more to your needs. It's not just a general "applies to everyone" type of thing.
One thing I absolutely love, is that it gives you a healthy, realistic weight loss goal. Safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week. Having small goals helps a person feel less overwhelmed. Instead of seeing it as, I need to lose 30+ pounds, it's I need to lose 5-6 pounds over the next month. 5-6 pounds seems so much more attainable.
So far, I've only used it a couple of weeks. So I can't really tell how well it works yet. So as time goes by, I'll try to update this review to include that.
One thing I would suggest is to invest in a pedometer other than the one included with the software. The pedometer they give you is nice because it plugs into the Gameboy Adv. port so you don't have to manually enter your step count. The problem with it, is that it is bulky. The thing is huge. If you bend over, it may knock it at a weird angle and keep it from counting your steps correctly. Also, the reset button gets pushed a little to easily. I had 2,000+ steps logged in, and the next time I checked it, it read 20-something. Which seriously stunk. If you're not doing a ton of bending over, or sitting down, you may be okay with the pedpmeter that came with the software. Although, you have to be careful. I lost the dust cover for the part the hooks into your DS by the third day.
So, it's enjoyable. It's easy. It's something to help you get started toward your weigh loss goals.
I've been working on losing weight for 6 years and had reached a standstill. I don't have anyone around me encouraging me on so this has been great. The little stick figure greets me each evening and gives me tips and gets excited when I meet my challenges.
It figures out what your metabolic rate is and how much food to exercise that you need to lose weight.
It comes with a pedometer that attatches to the game boy advance slot on the DS and it collects the info into your file.
The steps are counted and you see your little figure walking on the screen. She has landmarks that she passes. Like I just finished walking the distance of the Panama canal. Every time you reach one you get a pictue of yourself..ie her infront of the site and it is kept in a scrapbook.
I love the way you enter your food. You drag and drop the items into the stick figure and she chews them. LOL She helps you to balance you intake and output of energy.
I highly recommend this item. Being a Bride to Be and a bit out of shape I needed something to help motivate me to be more active. I have a desk Job and I love having my DS with me for a game on my breaks. Now instead on my DS Breaks I go for a walk around my office and parkinglot. Getting Fresh air and logging my food intake and keeping track of my steps. I love the challenges they are tailored for me. (Every time you walk through a door way Suck in your stomach and hold it for 5 seconds) Well I never realized how many doorways I walk through. I have had Gastric Lap Band Surgery I used to weigh 500 pounds. I am now at 250 and I have 100 more that I would like to go. But I have a wonderful man who loves me and bought me this to make the last 100 pounds a game. He has given me a treadmill, yoga mat, DVD's and now this game. Not only does he join me in my work outs but he motivates me to keep going. Since he is working so much at EA Games now this is my new motivator. And I love showing off my progress. I am so glad Nintendo has come up with a FUN Motivating Tool to help me loose weight. Now excuse me I have a Minute Challenge I have to go do Dishes in my kitchen... This game is great for people wanting to loose weight on there own. It makes it fun. Why dish out hundreds of dollars a year to go to a gym when you dont have the time or money. Now for [...] or less, we can play a fun game to help get us motivated, learn whats better to eat and maybe some other things we didnt no. Now who could complain of that when it gets you moving? I love this "game" and use it every day. My main problem with this game was the food. You have to remember everything you ate every day -- and the portion size, which isn't easy to do -- and log it in. And make it fit the game's generalized food categories. If you hit the wrong button by accident, you can't undo it. Logging in my food was not fun and just a chore, and even when I barely moved at all that day, the game was telling me my food to exercise balance was good. I know it's not. Many of the challenges the game was offering me -- like put away the salt shaker and clean up the kitchen -- were things I was already doing.
To walk the number of steps on the pedometer it wanted me to walk was a lot of walking! And here's where I failed the game. Instead of getting out at night and walking around the block until I logged in those extra 3,000 steps I was failing to achieve, I just stopped wearing the pedometer. So if you are amendable to being challenged to walk more, than I guess this would be good for you.
But it started off good. It told me to drink a whole glass of water and walk 300 steps to calibrate the pedometer. But after that it never asked me to drink a glass of water again. I wish it had demanded that every time I turned it on. It reached the point where I was just laying on the sofa, trying to log in my food. So I guess it's back to the Wii Fit.
Now that I look at the review, I think I'm the one who should get 1 star and the game should get 4 stars! Lose weight the fun way with My Weight Loss Coach. This game creates customized coaching sessions based on skill level, and includes a pedometer. So take control of your physical well-being by taking positive steps to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
