(Great Game)
(I spy a waste of money)
(I Spy Fun House)
(a little disappointed) Bought this game for myself and I love it! Yes, the I Spy games are too easy to do more than once or twice but my 4yr old daughter loves them! There are three other games that are just as addictive as Tetris and become more challenging the more you play them. So give them another try! My son just got this game and he loves all the I spy PC games and this one is great to take on the road with us.He is 6 and it is still challenging enough for him. Once he can read better then it will get easier for him. I thought it was great too. Good lord, I "finished" this game in like 30 minutes. It was terrible. There is no purpose. Great for a child 4-9, anybody else, save your money for gas. It's a pretty fun game, although I was a little disappointed that it didn't take me very long to beat. Our 5 year old got this with his Nintendo DS for Christmas. We love the I Spy PC games, so thought this would be a fun and educational game for his DS. Our major problem is that our 5 year old does not read yet, and the I Spy part of the game does not have a feature that reads the clues like the PC version does. He will certainly enjoy it more once he can read - and there are some challenging sorting games as well that he will enjoy when he is a little older. In I SPY Fun House, players find themselves trapped inside a carnival Fun House, tasked with collecting nine inventory items that will "unlock" the exit. Full of twists and turns, optical illusions and surprises around every corner, the Fun House will consist of six I SPY riddle screens, 18 I SPY riddles, and three fast-paced games to challenge the mind. As players pan around the room, they will be able to visually recognize different objects that populate the Fun House. These objects are the gateways into the games and riddles that must be completed to escape the Fun House. Rerations < I Spy Funhouse >

(Blockheads) When jenga came out as a game my family got it an I have continued to play it but now I keep different hours than my family. So I would love to play the game to test my skills but the noise would bother them. I found out that nintendo had the game so I jumped on the chance to play it. I have a blast with it and the ability to play with others in the same room is so unreal. I love it and would tell anyone that loves puzzles or the old jenga to give it a try. When it came to board games that were all about fun in the 90's, Milton Bradley made some of those games really happen that used more about our mind and balance than we had ever known. That was the case with the game Jenga. The classic block-building game where you took a stack of blocks and piled it higher and higher, and check to see if it still balances straight, but one false move, and you lose the game. The game worked with the times, but unfortunately all good things these days we don't have as much time for in games. That can also be said with bringing the game to the Nintendo DS.
Jenga for the Nintendo DS takes on the gameplay of the classic block building game as you and your opponents try to build up your blocks without knocking the tower down. The graphics fair well, but the gameplay doesn't actually make it feel like it is as addictive as the fun. You use your DS stylus to accurately place you tile on the next level. However, the gameplay is good as a party game, it just misses the mark a whole lot for single play action.
All in all, Jenga isn't as much of a must buy if you own the Nintendo DS. If you do want to buy the game, make sure its with a friend or a family member at home, and actually reality. I loved it as a board game, but not the way I had hoped for the video game. It takes the blockbuster, and busts the fun out.

(Busy Mom)
(Great games for fibro fog!!!)
(Fun, quick games for young children) I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, THE FUNSIDE OF AWFUL.
I DISCOVERED TOUCHMASTER AND SOME SIMILAR GAMES, SO I FIGURED, I'D LIKE TO FIND A FEW MORE GAMES IN THE SAME VEIN. THIS WAS ONE OF THEM, AT FIRST IT SEEMED GEARED TOWARDS YOUNG KIDS BECAUSE OF SOME OF THE ANIMATIONS AND A SIMPLISTIC FORMAT OF PLAY, THEN YOU DISCOVER THE ACTUAL MINI-GAMES...SOME OF THEM WERE EXCEPTIONALLY CHALLENGING, BUT ONCE DONE THERE REALLY ISN'T ANYTHING MUCH LEFT TO DO BUT BE BORED. THE MAIN GAME IS SIMPLE TO FIGURE OUT, BUT IT JUST DOESN'T STAND OUT AS A MUST CONQUER, MUST COMPLETE GAME. SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES ARE A FLAT OUT STRETCH TO THROW SOMETHING AT THE PLAYER TO USE THE STYLUS, SOME OF THEM ARE GENIUS...BUT NOT ENOUGH.
IF THE GAME HAD CONCENTRATED ON 21 LESS MINI-GAMES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE INTERESTING, CHALLENGING AND FUN...AS IT STOOD IT WAS A MERE 10-15 MINUTE DISTRACTION FROM MY POKEMON GAME.
THE FUNSIDE OF AWFUL. This does keep my 3 year old busy. It's good that you advance no matter if you clear the previous screen or not which allows him to play a lot longer than other games that end if you don't win. There are some cute games in it that do teach him something but aren't too hard for him to understand. I like this one. I have a lot of down time due to fibromyalgia and concetration can be awful during these times. These games are short, easy to play, and help in distracting the pain!! I found no problems what-so-ever with the games and would buy it again should something happen to my game. I bought this game for my 5 and 8 year old daughters. They really like it and it keeps their attention. The best part is the games are short and there are lots! That way they can play for 5 minutes or an hour. Also, they aren't in the "levels" that some games have that can be frustrating for young children. I enjoy the haunted house theme myself. Pending Rerations < Our Mini Games 26 >

(Securing DS, The Nerf Way)
(Great case!)
(Great protective case for your DS) I recently purchased a Nintendo DS lite and after watching two games break; one, bottom screen had lines in it so I guess my daughter accidently dropped it and the other one the hinge cracked. So I knew I better get something that would offer protection as well as style. I love everything about this cushy suit of armor except I can't get if off and I have tried, there were no instructions so I had to guess. I almost broke my game trying to free it from this great idea of a product except for this flaw. If anyone has this product please let me know immediately how to get the game out, otherwise I will end up damaging the game as well as my kids with theirs. When it comes down to the Nintendo DS Lite, it has really been the best-selling handheld game system on the market. But, there have been very few products out there that really do secure the DS Lite from severe damage if it shatters or breaks when you accidently drop it. The people of Nerf thankfully have made something very extra special. This DS Lite Nerf Armor is simple to setup, and its absolutely durable from preventing the DS from damage. It also fits very snugly into the DS Lite and with a price of nearly $15, it definitely is worth every penny. This is the most protective case that you can use to help protect your DS Lite, and safely also holds your DS Lite stylus pens' with great ease and security. If you're looking for added protection for your Nintendo DS Lite, than I really recommend the Nintendo DS Lite Nerf Armor, which comes in any color, in blue, black, red, and white. It really is worth the wait.
Price: B
Convience: B+
Overall: B 1/2+ We bought this case for our 5-year old son's new DS. I'm really pleased with it so far.
The fit of the case is very good. It has a hard plastic inner layer that fits directly against the DS. That inner layer is surrounded by a thick layer of the nerf foam. This seems like it will give really good drop protection. It closes nicely, and the cut-outs for the various buttons and slots are nicely sized.
The one drawback to virtually every case, and this one seems to be no exception, is around the hinge. There's virtually no padding on the hinge at all, and the plastic pieces to this case are also exposed. It would seem that a drop to this area will possibly end up breaking the case's or the DS's hinge. You'll find this problem on pretty much every case, though.
The extra thick padding on this case really is nice for peace of mind. It also is designed comfortably so that when playing the DS, it still feels good (or better, if you have adult sized hands). The cut outs are also angled, so that they get wider toward the outer edge of the case. This is a good thing - it guides your fingers toward the button, stylus, etc, and it also ensures there's no 90 degree corners to get snagged or picked off. The overall thickness of the foam does make the DS more bulky than a hard case or just a silicone sleeve, so you probably won't be putting it in your pocket any more, but the benefit is that this case seems like it will protect against falls better than the other types.
I do wonder about the long-term cleanliness of the case. It's Nerf foam, so it can get dirty or wear away. Nerf balls also tend to degrade in left in the heat or sun. Hopefully we'll be caring for the DS better than a Nerf ball, so it's not too much of a concern.
Once installed, it's very secure. My son tried to put it on himself, but actually put it in partially upside down, I had a really hard time getting it back out to put it on right. Once out, it installed very easily and hasn't come off since. I highly recommend this case. We bought this case for our 5-year old son's new DS. I'm really pleased with it so far.

(It's Space Invaders. It's Extreme. It's great.)
(EXTREME SPACE INVADERS ROCKS!)
(cool game) Great game. Just like the old one with a modern twist. Addicting just like the old one too! I found it in the bargain bin when it was released and thought "Wow my grandma's game again." I decided to try it and was pleasantly surprised. I am now entranced.. I love the lights and sound and if you add the rumble cart (not included) It becomes the most satisfying casual game play ever invented. The controls are simple with left hand move and right hand shoot and as simple as that sounds it's not. I am left frothing in anticipation for more! Taito's classic that started it all gets a facelift, and the final product is a nicely priced must-play.
Merits :-) Great soundtrack, Addictive, Great Value, Great replayability, Outstanding update on a classic Demerits :-( Bad online community
If you have ever played any variation of Space Invaders but not this one, there are people laughing at you as we speak. It's not me. I swear. Don't look now, but the old classic from yesteryear is back and better than ever. Why, it may be better than the orignal. Don't let the old timers hear that though.
Think of it this way: The original Space Invaders is a Cadillac. Space Invaders Extreme is a Porsche. One of the first things you will notice is the techno music, which is outstanding. The graphics are colorful. There's actual strategy playing into the mix. Hitting 4 of the same color invader drops a power-up. There are bonus stages and bosses. The game is a steal for $20. You will be replaying the modes forev3r and ev3r. Well, maybe not, but the game has some serious replay value, maybe even more than the original. Have you said "Wow" yet?
The only bad thing about this game is the weak online community. The Vs. mode pits 1 on 1 to see who can last the longest. It's surprisingly addictive despite being so narrow. The only problem is it takes 2 people to play, which means you'll be sitting in the lobby for a couple of minutes before someone finally gets on. Single-card play helps if you have a DS wielding buddy. Sw33t.
Space Invaders Extreme is an achivement in handheld gaming. The updated classic holds its own in more ways than one and then some, and the portability means the most superior version of Space Invaders ever is in your front pocket. Or bookbag. You buy now, yes?
Final Line: 9.1/10, D4NG3R's Gold Medal, DS Top Pick I AM AN OLD SPACE INVADERS ARCADE FAN, I REMEMBER THE DAYS OF GOING TO THE CANDY STORE WHEN I WAS A KID, PLAYING SPACE INVADERS, DONKEY KONG, CENTIPEDE&MISSILE COMMAND. I NEVER WAS ANY GOOD AT THE ADVANCED LEVELS OF ANY OF THOSE GAMES(THANK GOD FOR POKEMON). THEN I CAUGHT A DEMO OF THIS AND I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT. AND I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS A QUICK REVISIT TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS AND THEN HAVE THEIR CHAIR KICKED OUT FROM UNDER THEM...THIS IS IT! THIS GAME BLOWS THE ORIGINAL OUT OF THE BALLPARK! A MILLION THUMBS UP!!!! It was a great game! It is a little hard without the paddle but still enjoyable. It even has some great multiplayer on one cartridge! Great game would recommend to anyone. (I Really Enjoyed This)
(Much better than other reviewers would have you think)
(Just ok.......) I couldn't really get into this game, I didn't have the patience. It has harry potter in it and other characters, im sure a kid would be more happy with it than an adult. I love the Harry Potter games, but this one doesn't seem to flow right. You have beat the game before you know it and you still have all of these things that you have to find. The spells you have to cast are pretty easy, but they don't really explain how to do them so there is one that is tricky. Overall, the game was ok This game is great.
I love the graphics. Sure, this game is not the most visually stunning thing in the world, but it was not horrible.
The game is fun to play; progress is notable and the game has a couple of different things to do (mini games and the like).
My only complaint is that you have to complete a stage or task in order to save the game. You cannot automatically save.
I have a great time playing this. I am actually writing this review on behalf of my 9 year old daughter. She absolutely loves this game. Other reviewers have mentioned "all of stairs" you have to climb. She said it is no big deal and actually added to the fun of the game. She really enjoys playing this game and likes that they have actual scenes from the movie when you get to the end. I made a couple of potions, too, and it was fun and entertaining. I don't know what all of the griping is about, but my kids think the game is a blast. i love Harry Potter and have all the games for PS2 so when i got my DS the other day, i just had to get this one!
i haven't played it very much so far, but the biggest disappointment i have with it is that the characters don't actually talk. i would rather have them talk then have the music.
From what i have played of it, all in all its just an "ok" game. Not sorry i bought it but personally i prefer the PS2 one. Rerations < Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix >

customer 's review (Had to return it... Left handed players cant play!!)
(Work and no play makes Spidey a dull superhero)
(A good game)
(Run, beat up thug, run, resuce, run, repeat.)
(Decent) I got this game for my daughter because she LOVES spiderman!!!! I mean, its seriously an obsession!!! She and my husband both sat down to play it one night... it was IMPOSSIBLE for my husband to play because he's left handed!! The game does not allow you to change things around. You need the stylus and the buttons to play and this made it absolutely impossible for him!! My daughter was upset because it was very difficult for her. Being the huge spiderman fan she was, she politely asked if she could get another game. This said a lot!!! She's the type of kid who would suffer thru a bad game just to watch spiderman! HAHAHA So after 3 days of owning it... back to the store it went!! Fortunately my video game store has a 1 week game grace period. if you dont like it... bring it back!! This is the first Nintendo DS superhero video game that I've sold off. My kids were really excited to try Spider-Man 3 (having played the GBA games before). After the first day, my kids won't pick this game up anymore.
Why?
Well, the combination of button controls and stylus web swinging is just too much for their little hands. They are overwhelmed by the controls. I've read a bunch of reviews that like the use of the stylus but even those reviews admit that you get mixed results (your intended move doesn't always translate on screen).
Meanwhile, my kids were underwhelmed by the gameplay. You'd think New York City is populated by 98% felons. Spider-man doesn't meet anyone who he doesn't have to punch, kick or throw around. Quickly, this becomes work instead of play.
My kids prefer "Spiderman: Friend or Foe" and frequently play together (Check out my Amazon review: I bought an extra copy so they could play together.)
Much was made about the Tobey Maguire voiceovers but they didn't lend enough to this game to add another star. My kids liked the "Iron Man" voiceovers better.
Now that the Spider-Man 3 movie release is a year old, I can't imagine most kids would be intested in this title. I hope new superhero games are released on the Nintendo DS, just not games as much work as this. I am writing this on behalf of my 9 year old son. He says this game is fun, not too easy and a little challenging which he likes. Definitely recommend The best thing about this game is the control scheme. Spider-man jumps and climbs and swings like a pro. It's a lot of fun to use the stylus to manipulate the web slinging, and it is very intuitive, so fighting thugs is fun and can be done in a number of ways.
The graphics are pretty good. I was impressed. It's a 2D game in a 3D world, and it feels natural to navigate through the city by web slinging.
The sound is kinda campy, but the voice acting from Toby McGuire is spot on. It's snarky and Spidy says oddball stuff at the right moments in the gameplay.
The only really complaint about Spider-man 3 is the repetitiveness. It's run, fight, run, fight, run, rescue, run, fight. On to the next level: run, fight, run, fight, rescue, run, fight. There are just over 20 chapters in the story, all consisting of a combination of run, rescue, and fight. It was like playing all of those CAPCOM games from the early nineties like "Final Fight".
There's also a gameplay mode called the "race", which consist of webslinging across the neighborhood looking for floating orbs (no reason is given for why Spidy is looking for orbs). There is a 5 second (yes, second) counter that starts and Spidy has to reach the first orb. The counter resets, and Spidy has to reach the next orb. There are usually 20 orbs in a neighborhood, and if you miss one, you start the whole thing over. Missing an orb is easy, and since you are given only 5 seconds to find it, you could restart the same level many times. I know this game mode was thrown in to offset the "Beat 'em up" theme of the rest of the game, but couldn't they think of something more original? This is a solid game, just don't expect anything elaborate for a DS game. The story mode is short, but the use of the stylus in combat |
