My seven year old boys have the 2nd grade game and my 5 year old plays the the Kindergarten 1st grade game. We are so thrilled that they all are enjoying these games. We are truly amazed that a learning game has kept them so interested. My Vrtual Tutor has far exceed our expectations. We can't get over how much time they are spending playing and learning "Juust Amazing" Great investment.』
(My Virtual Tutor) 『My kids, 4 and 8 years old, love the game. I split the middle and got the K-1 version. They both loved the graphics, the interaction and the challenge. So, now I am off to get the other two, which are more appropriate for their respective ages. I am certain they will love them, as well. I would absolutely recommend them to parents looking to get their children productive and challenging activities that will be used in a fun way - playing with their DS.』
(Virtual tutor) 『I have a 4, 6, and 8 year old. They share a DS. I bought this K - 1st grade for both my 4 and 6 year old. They seem to love it. They play it together and will spend 30 + minutes in a sitting playing together. The different books are easy to follow and the games are challenging enough for my 6 year old to want to play and help the 4 year old. They love the games especially the word jumble and the paint game. I believe that this is a good use for their DS. They refer to the "tutor" as they play.

After Explore mode, I Can Read mode is unlocked, where your child can read the story, play fun word-based minigames and even record and listen to him/herself reading aloud! These minigames offer more practice to expand reading comprehension and vocabulary. After playing I Can Read, your child can unleash their inner artist in paint mode while the story is read to them by the tutor. These books were specially created at the University of Colorado to both engage readers and supply practice to gain fluent reading and comprehension.
At any point your child can also play phonics minigames building the skills necessary to become an independent reader. These games progress along with your child by evaluating performance on the current concept then moving on once that concept has been mastered. In addition to phonics practice, our challenge mode will test your child’s skills with survival-style gameplay.
After your child has explored a story and tested their phonics skills, he or she is ready for quiz mode! Quiz mode tests the skills and concepts your child has learned up until that point in the game. I first went to [...] and played a sample of these games, although their game play isn't exactly what you would play on the DS version. I had to have this game. I bought it the day it was released, and played it and had a really fun time. Although, it's only you may only want to play for about 30-45 minutes at a time, just because its sort of the same thing, just different questions. Here's my description of the game. You start off and there is about 20 boxes, each box contains a "level" to play, you have to play through them and win that level to play the next. Also, after winning each level, you unlock a new item, whether it being a hair style, a new shirt, etc. And, it seems to me, that each level, the other 2 contestants seem to get just a tab bit smarter, so that part helps the game to last longer if you ask me. Because it makes it just a little harder. Game play is very easy. Only negative part about the game play to me was when you are doing trivia questions, it pops up the question and it doesn't seem like you have very long to even read the question before buzzing in. So a lot of times I buzz in as soon as it pops up, that way if I'm right I get the most spins anyhow. Because even without buzzing in, you're required to give an answer to every question, if you didn't buzz first, you'll just get 1 spin if you answer correctly. After all your trivia is done, and you have your spins you can watch the other players or hit 'skip' to not watch them. (You can hit skip when they do their trivia as well). The spinning is just as fun, and just like on the real game show. Except I try not to say "Big bucks, No whammies" for the sake of embarrassment from my husband. When you do hit a Whammy, they do their little animations across the bottom screen of the DS, several different ones too. But remember, if you get 4 whammies in one game, you're out! All in all, the game is very fun, I enjoy it and I do go back and play it after a few hours has gone by. It's just not an intense game that you're stuck playing it for 5 hours straight, instead, you just keep coming back for more doses. :-)』 『Press Your Luck 2010 Edition DS』

It has a really slow start but once you get going it turns out to be a lot of fun. I still wish I could speed up the story line a little seeing how I finish all the quests on the billboard so quickly and then I am left with nothing to do except slaughter mobs and gather resources which is still fun to me. When I get tired of doing that I do some fishing to pass the time though I am tired of catching boots and cans. Where are all the fish? I can not wait till I get to play as my son. By then I know I will have more options avaliable. Mainly crafting. I really can not wait to do some crafting. It is the main reason I bought the game. I will update once I get to that point. I am sure I will have some additional good things to say.』
(Harvest Moon plus monsters) 『This is game is an absolute delight. You play a young man who has lost his memory. He arrives in a small town and is given a house and a field. He must till the soil, sow it and harvest the crops to raise money. There are fish and ores to collect, and errands to run for the villagers.
There are some young women he can flirt with and eventually marry. But watch out- if he doesn't show interest the girl might be snatched by a competitor. There are dates on which each girl will marry another guy. Unlike the first Rune Factory game, there are only 4 cave areas. These are limited and there is no bosses in the first part of the game. But there are plenty of regular monsters for him to fight and capture. Some monsters give produce, others help out. There is no leveling upp weapons or tools in the first part. There are fields in the caves that can be sowed. As in similar games there are a few events that takes place in town on certain dates.
Once he gets married, has a child and builds the school, the second part of the game begins. Years later he remembers who he is and runs away in the middle of the night, leaving his wife and child behind. In the second part you play the child as he/she takes over the field and receives lessons in school on cooking, medicine, upgrading weaponry and tools, and magic books. The child can sneak into areas of the caves that was inaccessible for the father. Beware - the monsters are now way tougher. It is up to the child to discover the fate of his/her father.
This is among my favourite games along with Rune Factory 1. It's part Harvest Moon, part Animal Crossing, part Pokemon, part Monster Rancher. If you like any of these games, you'll love Rune Factory. 』
(I think RF2 is decent, but could have been better.) 『The bright box caught me, and I ended up buying the game right when it came out. Right now, late June 2009, is a few months since then. Now that I am almost towards the end of the storyline part of the game, I feel I can make a good heads up for everyone else.
From playing the SNES Harvest Moon, and PS2 Save the Homeland(and by the way I didn't like either of them) - and this is my first RF game, I thought I kind of had an idea of what to come for Rune Factory 2. I wasn't too far off, the game is basically about farming, raising money and raising family, like most Harvest Moon related games. The game plays in a simple manner. Unlike the Harvest Moon games, though, this game, Rune Factory 2, is structured fairly well, easy to control, and there are a lot of things to do with plenty of free time. All those factors made me feel that it's a better game than HM games that I played, despite that RF2 requires patience and a seperate piece of memo paper, and I just wish that the developers didn't make the game so obvious and rough around the edges. I'm going to explain why I felt that later on.
Starting from the stuff I liked - the game is well structured. By that, I mean that it's very neatly organized. Graphics are very clear - it's very clear which patch of land is meant for farming and not. It's clear which patch of water can be used for fishing. The map on top DS screen puts your character exactly where your character is, on scale. It's so spot on that if I need to rush through dungeons, I can navigate just by looking at the map and not the actual screen. I can look at the character's Health or stamina, which is represented by two bars, and know how close I am pushing it before my character faints. I really do appreciate the graphics of the game in that sense. Another thing is that the devs put some thought behind controls. It's easy to sell and buy stuff; all you have to sell is to move items from your character's inventories to the merchant's inventory, and to buy, you take the merchant's items from her/his inventory and move it to your inventory. As far as basic controls go, all of four face buttons are assigned to an action of a kind; X is for controlling your pet monster, Y is for magic attack, B is the item, and A is for whatever tool or weapon you have equipped. To switch to another magic/item/tool in inventoryhold L and the corresponding face button. This interface is very handy when fighting monsters, because it's fast and easy to change equipment as needed on the fly. The only oddball control in the game is that to run, you press R shoulder button once and your character stays in "run mode" where s/he will run all the time until R button is pressed again(then, s/he would just walk all the time). The otherwise excellent controls help, because there are a lot to do in the game. The game has a lot of chores that your character can do for reward. The reward is either small money, an item, or simply friendship boost. This is good way to spend time when your typical mining/fishing/farming routine is done, and helps the game become less boring, which IMO is one of the biggest flaws of other HM games. In RF2 this is also a primary way of moving forward in the story. The quests are more rewarding than what you can do with townsfolks from HM games, I think this was why the game was more addictive. After quests are done, it's easy to permanently save progress, as a portable games should be. There is a save spot every 5 or 6 games, so if really urgent, I have been able to save a game progress in less than a minute. Those traits all make a great basis of a good game - good interface, good controls and addictive play. So much in fact that they make the shortcoming of RF2 more obvious. IMO the game could have been a lot better, but I can tell that it was rushed.
I'll now move onto the things that test patience. It's not exactly a secret that Marvelous Entertainment's games are usually glitchy. Rune Factory 2 runs better than most other games from that dev, but so far I have to be careful especially when Mana was teaching cooking receipes in second generation. If I had chosen the "wrong" lesson to learn at the wrong time, the game would freeze mid-lesson. Eventually I got to learn all the things Mana and Barrett teaches, but it's still annoying. Another thing is that there are a lot of things to memorize. So much, that without a piece of paper to note, the only other option for a player to take is to cheat and use a guide. Townsfolks actually do tell you most of the things needed to progress, it's just that after a while they stop, and the player is screwed at that point. I bought the game early when there wasn't really a guide available and this resulted in a lot of trial and error process for me that I felt wasn't necessary. Oh, that leaves to a few final minor complaint for me. The game really skips on little details at times. For one, there are a few good ideas in combat. Problem is that a lot of them is done to you by the monsters and you can't do the same thing back to them. The enemies can gang up and do these crazy combos on you, and they can also knock you into the walls, leaving you dizzy. Some enemies can attack while being hit, they can paralyze you, and silence you. Guess what you can't do. Plus, there are shields for you that you can't really use to block anything, it just reduces damages. I mean, to me, it it looks like a total waste to put something in the game that can't be done by you. It also isn't very cunning. The game is divided into two "generations" where half of the game is blocked the first few tens of hours. It's really, really obvious where those area are. For instance, there's a road that CLEARLY leads to some other places that is blocked off with a fence or stone statues. When you try to examine it, RF2 will tell you "I can't pass", or "I can't read the words on the statues." I mean, that kinda kills the mood, don't you think? The game's not really good at all at pleasantly surprising the player. Maybe it's to the weak writing that is to blame. I think you may have noticed, but the story is really really lame. The characters are kind of interesting though, so it luckily evens out in the end. By the way, speaking of the characters, most people if they're like me, will have some hard time adjusting to the character portraits. They're all blushing all the time, I mean this game is Japanese and all, but that's really distracting.
Thanks for reading my review. Obviously, the game was enjoyable enough for me to not mind writing out this long script. For me the game felt like a mix of Princess Maker 2 and Diablo, but for children instead of adults. It's very off beat compared to a lot of other RPGs out there, and while it's not the best of its kind I think it's worth playing. I recommend buying it when it falls into 10~20 dollar ranges.』
(I got it for half price) 『The game was half price when I bought this. I like it, and I have not complaints. I have not played it much yet, but my roommate is addicted to it (he has his own copy). Give this one a try for sure, especially if you like harvest moon and animal crossing. They are all very very similar. Thank you seller.』
(Rune Factory 2) 『I think this game is really fun. I haven't gotten past the first generation yet, but it is really awesome. I would recommend this game for 7 and up. It takes a little bit of reading, but it is fun. Totally get this game!!!』 『Rune Factory 2 is set several years after the first game. The evil Sechs Empire has been defeated, and the Kingdom of Norad is once again at peace. Things may not stay that way for long, however, as dark premonitions foretell of dangers to come. It’s up to the player to uncover the source of these premonitions and bring peace to the kingdom once more. Over the course of the story, players will build and develop a farm, befriend townspeople, raise monsters, take on quests, and find a wife. Rune Factory 2 offers innovative Touch Screen controls, easy-to-use menus, and an all-new compelling storyline.』

Every time I sit down with it, I play for hours. The classic games have difficulty levels to keep the game interesting. The Quest starts easy and gets more challenging with different versions of Mah Jong. It's a great buy.』

(nice game) 『This game is fun, It gives many hours of play and can be repeated as desired. I am enjoying this game and it goes with me to appts where I have to sit and wait and its great on long flights. 』
(fun game and addicting) 『This game is VERY addicted so warning to those who want a game that they will like but at the same time one that you won't be playing all the time? Well then don't buy this game if you don't want a game where you want to play this all the time. I love it even when I have to start over.』
(Nice Mahjong Game) 『If you are a fan of the Mahjong games, you should like this game. I like the Mahjong games but feel that this game could have used alittle more work. I think the graphics on this game could have been a lot better than they are. The graphics makes this game alittle hard to see on the DS considering that the screen is so small to begin with. Overall its a fun game, but if you have problems playing games on the DS that have great graphics then you are going to have a hard time with this game. Overall its fun, but hard to see. If they had an option to lighten or darken the screen that would make it alittle better in the ease of playing it.』 『The creators of Jewel Quest bring you more than an addictive puzzle game as well as a true cinematic experience. It controled OK but my hands get tired after a while. One control problem that plauged me was you are supposed to double tap the screen to look down the barrell of the gun or scope and I kept doing that on accident, meaning I kept zooming in and out while moving around. I also thought it took a lot of shots to take out an enemy. Graphics were OK for a DS but it doesn't look that great.』
(Fun&Hard) 『It is one of the best call of duty games for ds i have bought yet, though there were frustarating parts and bugs it was still fun. This shooting makes a great game for C.O.D (call of duty) fans there cons and pros of this game. Hmmmmmm, i'm going to give this 4 stars.』
(Audio Book Review) 『This is a gift for my husband who enjoys audio books - he will certainly enjoy this one.』
(Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare) 『First I'm not Scott, I'm his son. I got this game and it was so fun! It gives you a feel of what's really happening in the middle east. Because when people die body parts don't go flying all over or anything like that. they fall and then they disappear. then you can pick up their gun. and use it. it has good graphics and an understandable plot. it teaches you the basics then puts you to the test. it gives you hum-vees, attack copters, and missile base action as well as the basic walking (which I like best!) I like the mini games, explosives, and a special mini game in the level On Approach. Don't bother looking for cheats unless you have a game shark. or if you have a good cheat website. it does not swear at all unlike recent models. oh and when a guy gets shot it's not all gorey and stuff, it looks like gas. check out this book- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Official Strategy Guide』
(Interesting, if short, FPS for the DS) 『I like the Call of Duty franchise, and realizing some of the limitations of the DS system, received this as a gift along with the Nintendo DS headset. I was pretty impressed with the graphics especially on the DS, considering the platform.
Pros: * Decent graphics * Awesome AC-130 level, allowing you to shoot the howitzer to help your buddies on the ground * Easy to get absorbed into the game
Cons: * Game is a little short, finished within about 3 days of off-and-on playing

He is very diligent about keeping all the items (games, charger, game unit etc) together in one bag. However, I have "eaten" approximately $100-$120 in games due to a design flaw in this bag. The slots for each individual game are on the underside of the lid, which zips on both sides and not the bottom, leaving it open on the bottom, a space just large enough for the games to slip out of when the come out of their individual slots. And they will. They are not securely held in the slots at all and slip loose VERY easily, losing the games in places like the restaurants, street curbs (found the next day) and the depths of the couch. This is NOT RECOMMENDED at all. I've lost money in losing those games, something that even the most responsible child, nor adult, could prevent.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Cake Mania 3 Like the Original) 『If you like the original PC version of Cake Mania 3, then you should like the DS version. The gameplay has been simplified a little bit for the DS, but for the most part it is the same game. There is plenty of entertainment packed into this game. Lots of hours of game time. This game is a win for both time management and Cake Mania lovers.
The only two drawbacks that I have found are that I sometimes pick the wrong items simply because I cannot tell what I am supposed to be choosing. The size of the game due to the size of the DS can sometimes make gameplay a little tricky. The second drawback would be the pace of the game. The beginning levels of the game start out a little slow just as in the PC version. After about the 3rd or 4th era the pace of the game becomes almost hectic. If you are looking for a somewhat laid back game this is not the one for you.
Especially when you consider the price, I would have to say this is a good time management game. A great effort in transferring a PC favorite to the DS screen.』
(Cake Mania 3 Review) 『Cake Mania is very similar to the other cake games. I haven't played too long on it, so can't be too descriptive, but it's a good addition for people who like these games.』
(Disappointed) 『I have been a big Cake Mania fan for some time now and have all of the Cake Mania's (PC, DS, Wii and PS2) so I was thrilled when I found out that Cake Mania 3 would be on the DS! What a huge disappointment... everything is just so cramped on the screen and like many other posters below have said, it's really hard to see the toppers at times and the top cake layer is so small now. And I miss the 3rd oven and 3rd froster. I won't be keeping this game in my collection. Just not happy with it....』
(Great Game but alittle hard to play....) 『I will totally agree with the other person who reviewed this item and state that it is alittle hard to see some of the items on the screen. Honestly I think that is the case with most games for the Nintendo DS, the screen is alittle small and its hard to see some of the games to play them properly. With that being said I don't think just because its alittle hard to see the items that the games deserves a 2 star rating. I actually like this game for the DS. I purchased it for the PC long before it came available for the DS. The differences I see in the PC version vs the DS version is that in the PC version you can purchase 3 of each of the ovens, frosters, cake toppers, etc. In the DS version you can only purchase 2 ovens, 2 frosters, etc. I don't think it makes much of a difference because I think the DS version is alittle slower paced than the PC version.
However, I still think the game is fun...But if you have issues seeing and playing other DS games, I would suggest renting this game before you buy it. It might save you money in the long run. If you liked the PC version of this game you will be alittle disappointed because the DS version is alittle different, but I still think its a fun game. My opinion is that I love the PC version and I like the DS version. I am still glad I bought it, and don't regret the purchase at all.
I would really like to know what its like on the DSI compared to the DS, since the screen is alittle bigger.』
(Prepare to repeat yourself) 『Everything the first reviewer of this game said is right on. Everything is wee small and Jill is constantly confused. You have to be PRECISE with the stylus to get Jill to do what you want. In addition to the cramped controls these are my biggest gripes: - You can only have 2 ovens and 2 frosters, unlike the previous editions where you can have 3 of each. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but I missed that 3rd oven and froster. - The cake toppers are tiny and hard to see, let alone select. In the upper levels when they start ordering double layers with a topper it is extremely hard to tell just what the top cake is. The blue and purple frosted cakes are very hard to differentiate in that little bubble over the customer's head. Cake shape is hard to make out too. - It is really easy to cancel an action. For example, if I choose a cake to bake, frost, or top and then accidentally tap anything else before that process has a chance to start then that action will cancel out. This is how you end up walking away only to come back and find that the cake is still unfrosted, hasn't been baked, or is still waiting on the topper. In the other games I always thought that it was a little too easy to screw up because there was zero lag time between the screen tap and the action happening which resulted in more than one erroneous cake, but it turns out that the other (older) versions had it right. - Upgrades on equipment are too expensive and there isn't enough of them. You can't go back and replay levels to build up cash so I struggled through until I upgraded her shoes, the ovens, the frosters all the way and bought the cheapest cake topper. After that it got a little easier to make the super bakery goals, but now I am in the last "area" with enough money to buy every upgrade there is and nothing to spend it on because I have already fully upgraded everything. - The mini games should be optional. I have found myself stuck on a cake matching mini game that is stupid hard. I am too old (mid 30's) to have video games pissing me off. I wouldn't mind if it were an issue of skill. But the best you can hope for is luck because the cakes basically look like blobs with toppers. I only got through the last mini game like this one because I started clicking on every cake that had a topper like one in the picture (you'll see what I mean when you get there). - The drink machine is slow and you can't upgrade it to make it faster. Once you've bought the drink machine the only upgrade is to go from a one-drink machine to a two-drink machine with no appreciable difference in speed. Okay, so that's the annoying stuff. One neat new thing is that you can upgrade the cake display stand so that you can leave a cake in it "overnight". Before I pick up the last customer's money I make the most expensive cake I can and put in the cake display for the next level. Customers in the game are a lot quicker to buy a displayed cake than they ever have been before and the one I start with is usually requested by customer #2 of the day. Overall I feel like the game merits 4 stars. I give it two just for being Cake Mania, one for being long enough that I couldn't complete it in one day, and one because I feel like it is $20 well spent. I would like to give it 5 stars but the dismal display and it's limited re-playability just won't let me mislead you that way. Bottom line: flawed but entertaining. I've spend $20 bucks on dumber stuff. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Bad Product) 『I got this product free with my purchase of my brand new DS Lite. First off, the instructions were not in English. However, I have used protective covers for my touch cell phone, so I understand how they work.
There are 2 protectors inside and a nice cloth (love the cloth). Nowever, one protector is larger than the other one, so which one does it go on, I assumed the top so I started there. I applied it just like I did for my touch phone but these are super sticky. You get 1 try and that is it. Needless to say, I had so many bubbles that I carefully took it off and threw it out.
I tried the bottom one, same results. There is no "easy" way to put these on and they seem to result in bubbles galore everytime.
The bubbles are probably because they did not fit on just the screen, but overlapped on my DS which resulted in air underneath. If they had fit just the screen, maybe they would have been okay, but eh, doubtful.
The cloth was nice. I kept it. Trashed the rest.』
(Work as expected) 『This is a good product that serves its purpose. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because the installation is not so intuitive. I spent some time to figure out which part goes where.』
(good) 『this only works well IF you put it on well. i read all the reviews and i was deciding to buy it or not buy it... let's get straight to the facts.
you will not get all the dust out. you will have some on your screen. just staring at you. YES, this sucks. but if you do it right, they will hardly be noticeable. same with the air bubbles. the reviews said they go away on their own, so i'm still waiting for that.
as much as the reviews said you dont have a second try, to me, i did. i actually put it on 3 times on the touch screen. here's a tip:
get some really sticky tape with you, so you can get the dust out as you put it on. this is the most help i can give you.
edit: im proud to say that all air bubbles are gone...after reapplying both again. this thing WORKS, as long as you do it right.』
(Great piece of kit) 『This is a perfect fit for your DS. It applies easily, comes with a cleaning cloth and best of all--the instructions are clear and precise. I liked the triple layers with labels on them that make the application idiot-proof. This is the best and only DS screen protector you should consider buying.』
(The small cloth is the only thing I'll be using...) 『I just took these screen protectors out of the box to put on my DS. They included some brief instructions as well as a cloth to wipe off the screens--a nice addition. I didn't bother with the top one so I can't comment on that (it actually states in the DS instructions to only put screen protectors on the touch screen), but I wasn't too happy with the bottom screen protector.
The screen protector doesn't have any sort of sticky residue or anything like that. It peeled off nicely and was easy to position on the screen. It wasn't until I finished placing it on the screen that I started having problems. I had it all pressed on nicely and removed the outer sheet only to see several air bubbles around the centered "Peel Me" sticker. Following the instructions, I first tried pressing them out with my fingers. I also tried using the stylus. Neither worked to well for me, so I thought I'd try to peel it off and re-place it. So again, I consulted the instructions. According to the booklet, to remove the screen protector you just need to apply some clear tape to a corner of the screen and slowly pull the tape up. Well, I worked at it for about an hour and even tried clear packing tape. I finally gave up trying tape and pulled out a dull toothpick, which--with some caution--did the trick.
So as of right now, the protectors are back in the box where they will probably stay. I wasn't extremely happy with how the protector felt when using the stylus, and I thought screen looked a tad bit blurrier. Overall, I wouldn't say this is a bad product, but I did have some problems with it. And really, if you use a proper stylus when using your DS, and keep it closed when not in use, you shouldn't really need a screen protector in the first place.』 『Officially licensed by Nintendo.
