Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Two boys' review: Spider-Man's best title on the Nintendo DS) We have two die-hard Spidey fans.
We already own Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, Spider-Man: Battle for New York and Spider-Man 3 but none of those Nintendo DS games offered the simple, intuitive controls of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.
When my sons want to enjoy a little web swinging and wall crawling they don't want to have to think about how to do it. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is the sixth game on the Nintendo DS but it is the first one to get the Webhead's controls right.
The game has too many Marvel Comics characters -- heroes and villians -- to list them all but here's a few that should excite your die-hard Spidey fan: Venom, Rhino, Nightcrawler, Kingpin, Vulture, Electro, Luke Cage and Green Goblin!
My sons also loved the fact that they can change between the original red-suited Spider-Man and the newer black-suited Spider-Man with the click of a button. The storyline is a little darker than the other Spider-Man titles but there's nothing here that will induce nightmares; the gameplay is stictly comic book and there's relatively little gore compared to most action-adventure titles available.
In summary, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is the superhero's best title currently available on the Nintendo DS. Kids young and old will appreciate the easier controls and the large cast of comic book characters provided. A deadly symbiote invasion brings devastation to New York City. In Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, the game is set in an apocalyptic vision of the city. You'll have complete control over New York City's salvation and the fate of Spider-man. It also features an all-new combat system that allows for three-dimensional battles that can start on the street and end up on rooftops. You can also switch between the red and black Spider-Man suits, choose to ally with Marvel's heroes or villains and decide what missions to undertake to save Manhattan from destruction.

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (great game)
(Excellent addition to the Advance Wars library)
(Days of Ruin provides a much wider variety then Dual Strike)
(Not Better, Not Worse, Just Different)
(Much less of an SP experience than Dual Strike) i enjoy pretty much this game, i play this title since advance wars and it had more unit's a deeper story, more real like caracters in simple words "a great game" I love when people take risks. Advance Wars has done that with both iterations for the DS. It was quite a leap to completely remove the story from the past 3 games and also go with a completely different tone. This game is not the upbeat, happy-go-lucky joyride of the past 3. Instead it creates a world that is bleak and desolate, starting the game off after a meteor shower has killed off most of the world's population. Now it is not just a struggle against an opponent, but also one of survival. I thoroughly enjoyed this setting, though I must say, not quite as much as the quirkiness of the past few games. Perhaps with a bit better writing it would have been fantastic, but it is still a solid story nonetheless.
This game also completely rebalances the units, bringing in different costs, changing abilities on some, removing others, and adding in new ones. This creates a greater balance so that just using 4 or 5 different units isn't always a great strategy. Along with the unit rebalance, the COs get a complete makeover in their capabilities. Gone are the overpowering abilities and in their place stands only one CO power per CO. The meter is now the same for all COs and you no longer build it faster, or at all, by taking damage. Each unit now counts the same and destroying 5 health to any unit raises your meter a bar. This is not global though, as the day-to-day abilities are not either. Each CO gets a zone around the unit you decide to put your CO in. Only the units within this zone get the added benefits, as well as your CO led unit getting a real nice boost. This zone will then grow up to two more squares in radius as you level up. This brings a great strategy into play. You can then choose to use your CO power and lose your greater zone, or not use it and keep your increased zone to effect more units.
After all is said and done, I don't think this game is as great as Dual Strike. It doesn't have the great war room anymore, though there are some maps you can play even though you don't get any rating on them. The greatest addition though is the wifi play, allowing you play anyone else around the world. Unfortunately, it is a bit limited in its design, but fun all the same. For some, this is a better game than its predecessors, yet for others, it is a very good game that could have used just a little more. In the end, if you enjoy strategy games, this really is a must buy. I bought DOR because I somewhat enjoyed Dual Strike. When I started Campaign i found it much more graphically satisfying as well as A better cast of characters for the campaign. Will Definitely has alot more personality then Jake and wants to rebuild instead of fight. He lets this be known after every battle instead of saying useless comments like "Oh man dude you got owned!" The campaign depth doesn't end there though, all the characters have much more depth, from strong and forgiving Brenner to Calculating Lin, Campaign is much better.
War Room has been simply replaced by Free battle and You can now hold fifty designed maps, this kind of replaces the shop because if you want a certain map, just design it. Battles are now more even. I do not get gunned down by 3 battleships the second i get my first cruiser on the water. If you like this kind of thing, use the designer. With a much wider variety of tactics you can decide whether to carpet bomb the enemy with numerous bombers, or soften them with battleships from the sea then storm the island with troops from landers under the cover of carriers seaplanes. It's because of these things i enjoy Advance Wars, Days Of Ruin more then it's predecessor
the first thing you should know about this installment of the series, is that it is not the kiddy go-lucky advance wars you knew. the changes, whether for better or for worse is debatable.
advance wars, days of ruin, takes place in a time of ruinous days, a meteor has struck earth, wiping out a lot of humans. but some survivors form a rag tag army to try to keep other survivors civillized. if you have a 6 year old who was smart enough to comprehend and enjoy the previous installments, you might want to think about this one. there is stuff some people might not particularly enjoy, such as savage murder, and ominous plant related desiese. But dont decide against this because of that. im only talking minimally. days of ruin takes on a new art form, more realistic. many people may islike the fact that there is a cast of completely new charactars, and that fact that the famous "shop" has been removed.
destipe all these catastrophic differences, there is some hope:
co powers have been toned down, they can no longer change the tide of battle in mere seconds. A very nice story line, which rarely gets too hard or too easy. and the stage builder is here, with 50 slots to save unique stages. i reccomend buying this game, just remember, dont expect too much of dual strike to be here.
It's not bad. It gives Advance Wars fans something more to chew on I guess. But what happened to all to all that totally awesome unlockable content and all the level-up stuff from Dual Strike? Why is the list of commanders so much shorter? How come the powers just don't seem to have as much impact on the game?
The serious plot was interesting at first but they really didn't make enough changes to the overall look and feel of the game to keep it going. The first few levels had an apocalyptic feel but then it was right back to happy sunny war times on the first naval mission where everything is bright and gleaming in spite of the fact that the atmosphere is supposed to be so choked with debris that you can't even see the sun.
And I missed the music of Dual Strike. A lot. Basically more of the same minus a lot of the really good things. Almost 90% of mankind has been killed off following a devastating meteor strike that has caused a massive dust cloud to blot out the sun. Scattered survivors pick through the wreckage, and the remnants of several military superpowers patrol the ravaged landscape, some factions protecting the innocent while the others prey upon them. The two rival world superpowers, Rubinelle and Lazuria, continue to fight among the ruins of their countries, the few surviving military leaders of each side carrying on the conflict begun before the catastrophe. In their wake, various warlords rise to power, seizing scarce food rations from the defenseless survivors and attempting to assert their dominance in the absence of law and order. Follow the Rubinelle COs Will, Brenner, and Lin as they embark on a mission to rescue as many of the survivors as possible, with the help of the mysterious Isabella, an amnesiac girl who seems to know vital military secrets, and various other sympathetic factions. ESRB Rated E10 For Ages 10 and Up Advance Warshas been reborn. Set amid a world in chaos and boasting new characters and settings, the latest game in the series features a gritty look, an engaging storyline and online battles and map trading. It's the most stunningAdvance Warsever.- New COs and units, realistic graphics and a new environment bring the world ofAdvance Warsto life like never before. After a cataclysmic meteor strike exterminates 90 percent of the population, the survivors must battle barbarians, disease and megalomaniacal strongmen who seek only to secure their own power.

customer 's review (A game from the past.)
(Pretty good)
(I really enjoyed this game)
(Fall of Mana)
(Repetitive&Dull) Years ago, I played the Mana series and really loved it. I'm glad that Nintendo has brought it back from the past. It may not have all the bells, whistles, and graphics of modern games but it has the same game play from the past that we loved. It's just one of those, not too hard and not too easy games that you can sit down with and enjoy. I thought that this game was pretty good for a ds game. It wasnt by any means the best game Ive ever played, but it was good enough to keep my attention when I was bored(which is all you can really ask a handheld to do). I would suggest it to anyone who is a fan of the series or the genre. FYI, I'm female and 51. I really enjoyed this game. I just finished and am thinking I will play again as one of the 4 possible characters with different skills. It reminds me of the gameboy 2d zeldas. I've not played any other mana game so I can't compare them but if you are hungry for the old type rpg, this one may fill the need. You can keep playing after you beat the last boss but it lost something for me then so take your time, do sidequests, dudbear jobs, collect gems, enjoy killing monsters. Oh, and stylus use is kept to a minimum which is always a plus for me. The Mana Series has always intrigued me, Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2) was excellent, Seiken Densetsu 3 (Japan 'sequel') was even better. After that the series began it's slow and never ending slump.
Children of Mana was the first non-remake in the Mana series in nearly 6 years. The last Mana title, Legend of Mana was a decent game, but it didn't compete against Seiken Densetsu 2 or 3. Eventually, SquareSoft decided to revive the series, but this was the start of their mistakes.
The newly titled "World of Mana" would release 3 of Square-Enix's trashiest games ever.
Children of Mana was the first, released for Nintendo DS. I picked up this game when I first got my DS, incredibly excited to play it. Pop it in, confused by the plot, random sidequests etc., I start playing. Hey, this is kind of cool... Finish the first tower, next world. Hmm, maybe a bit better lets hope! Exact same gameplay, different level setup.
It's basically Legend of Zelda with random gems that give you insanely good powers, and a flail that kills anything touching you within a 3 square radius.
The games a typical dungeon crawler, you have multiple weapon classes, albeit with a different power/ability/special attack. The games incredibly easy. Each level you get percentage completions based on time it took to complete, treasure chests obtained, etc., The only way to get gold ranking is going through each level way later in the game. Even then, miss 1 treasure chest (some require 'puzzles' to obtain), and you lose.
Magic is supposed to play a role in the game, but it's the worst excuse for magic ever. It's horrible, not even worth using. Items are trashy too, theres not really much control of obtaining items, just buy them when you see them.
The only thing I loved about the game was gem fusion. Each gem has powers, and you can bind with other gems to make better gems. Some give double experience, some improve weapons, some improve 'special attacks', some are so useful that it makes the game virtually impossible to not walk through it.
The further you get into the game the more predictable it gets. The dungeons turn into really long mazes that aren't even a bit fun. So here's my final rating.
Gameplay: 7/10 It's not horrible, it's not good. I was kept busy by it, I'll admit I had fun. But, it left a lot to want back. If I had a better RPG at the time (Like Magical Starsign, Etrian Odyssey, or Phantom Hourglass) I'd have played those instead. Nonetheless, I can't say I overly disliked it.
Graphics: 6/10 They aren't horrible, after Legend of Mana I expected really excellent graphics, which they are in the cities. The second you enter the battlefield it's like they went to a small budget.
Interface: 7/10 Nothing special, nothing bad about it.
Length: 8/10 It'll keep you occupied for 20 hours.
Difficulty: 7/10 Not hard, not horribly easy. I never died in the game, which isnt typical :)
35/50, 70/100.
If you're looking for combat similar to Link to the Past, but easier, heres your game. It's okay, I doubt I'd replay it though. I originally started playing games in the Mana series with the classic SNES game "Secret of Mana", and picked up this game hoping it would be a similar experience.
Unfortunately this game is insanely repetitive, forcing you to return to the same handful of levels over and over again with slightly different enemies and slightly different goals. In addition there is almost no DS functionality at all in this game, and it feels like it was originally meant to be a Game Boy Advance game that was clumsily ported over to the DS.
If you can find it used or at a discount it's worth a few dollars, but for anyone other than the most hardcore RPG fanatic this game will be boring and frustrating. Children Of Mana takes us back to ages past, when an island called Illusia floated at the center of the world. At the heart of the island towered an ancient, enormous tree that stretched up to the very heavens. When a time of darkness comes, chaos and sorrow engulfed the world until at last its salvation appeared - in the form of a boy, a girl, and a holy sword. Rerations < Children of Mana >

(Favorite Christmas Gift) My son loves all of the backyard sports games and this is one of his favorites. He plays it again and again! I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old for Christmas. He loves it! The graphics are good nintendo quality (for kids) and the characters are recognizable from their adult faces. He loves it..Little Lebron, Little Vince, and Little Dirk are dead on. It's fun and easy for little ones. If you are looking for a challenge then stick with NBA live, but for little gamers this is a lot of fun. I gave it four stars because there is not much of a defensive component. Backyard Basketball is a Nintendo DS basketball game in the kid-friendly and humorous Backyard Sports style. customer 's review (Better than the leapster animal genius)
(Mom to animal loving 5 year old boy)
(Great game for kids and they learn!)
(Fun for Younger Kids)
(Fun and educational game) I was leary getting this game for my kids we already have the leapster version which is great. So here it goes it is more challenging than the leapster's version and more fun. More animals more advanced than the leapster version. My kids love it excellent. This game is seriously better than the leapster version of it. My 4 year old does better on the leapster version. My 7 year old says it is more fun and challenging than the leapster and I agree with here. Love it My son loves everything about this game! He already knew a lot about animals, but has run up to me a million times telling me new facts he has learned from the game. So nice that he is learning while playing his DS! Very easy for young children to play and great for building his reading skills! LOVE IT! i bought this game for my 6 year old son and he loves it he needs a little help once in a while, but he can do most of the game on his own he gets so excited when he wins a new animal it is a game filled with matching, hand/eye coordination and question answering he has fun while he learns a little bit about wild animals My daughter is 6 and has really enjoyed this game. She has learned a lot of animal facts. My 14 year old was not as impressed so I would recommend it for younger audiences. This game keeps my daughter entertained for hours. There are several different games to choose from, and all the games teach a variety of facts about many different animals. My daughter loves using it to quiz friends on animal facts. Players must master over 140 rounds of diverse game play to populate five different habitats with animals and rack up points in an immersive game that pushes animal knowledge to the next level. Using the Nintendo DS stylus, players must compete in five different games, which require a combination of quick thinking and sharp reflexes. The five games include Creature Collector, Scratch 'N See, Matchomatic, Maze Munch and Animal Expert. ESRB Rated E for Everyone. Rerations < Animal Genius >
