(Not Very Fun.)

(Excellent game!)

(Christmas present)

(challenging)

(Two boys' review: This sequel misses the original's magic)
This game was not as fun as I thought it would be. The plot was boring and the selection of characters was limited. It might be fun for a six year old, but I found it boring.
I bought this for my 6-year-old grandson. He loves it. He quickly learned how the game worked and plays it frequently. It holds his attention.
I have'nt actualy played this game. I bought it for my 8 year old son. He likes it allot. At least he has been playing with it a lot. It was a Christmas present.
My 6 yo son got this game for his new Nintendo DS from Santa. Although he likes the game a lot he gets frustrated and doesn't find it as easy to maneuver as some of the other Nintendo DS games. Perhaps an older kid wouldn't find it as challenging
My two sons -- ages 6 and 4 -- are fans of Ben 10 (my oldest even dressed up in a Ben 10 costume this past Halloween!) They gave a 5-star review to the previous Nintendo DS game, Ben 10 Protector of the Earth.

This game, despite the large number of new characters and an equally dazzling amount of sound effects straight from the cartoon, only gets four stars.

Pros:
* Many of Ben 10s new alien forms are available for you to choose to play.
* The gameplay is easier than that of Ben 10 Protector of the Earth, so younger players might like this version better.

Cons:
* The gameplay isn't as challenging, so older kids will tire of this adventure game much faster than the first Ben 10 game.
* Some of the fighting sequences are repetitive and get old fast.

In summary, if you have a young child that loves Ben 10 go ahead and buy this game. Just use caution with older kids (ages 10 and up) who might not find the gameplay challenging enough to hold their interest.

If you are looking for a list of Nintendo DS games for young boys, check out my Amazon Listmania List: "Young boys' Nintendo DS games."

Gamers must help Ben take the Omnitrix out of retirement and lead ten different playable characters-including cousin Gwen, enemy-turned-ally Kevin Levin and five of Ben's brand new alien forms-Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill-to utilize their all-new super powers and defeat the intergalactic invaders. Gamers will experience tons of all-new story content and can even adventure as additional alien forms Echo Echo, Chromastone and Goop exclusively with the Nintendo DS version.

Gameplay is fast-paced, 3D and action-adventure based, offering an unlimited combo system with puzzles and challenges that will engage players of all levels for hours at a time.Ben 10: Alien ForceThe Game comes on the heels of a tremendously successful inaugural game,BEN 10: Protector of Earth, which launched in November 2007 and has sold more than one million units worldwide, making this an adventure not to be missed.

Playable Characters
Ben Tennyson- Ben fills the role of leader after Max disappears. The Omnitrix has been recalibrated, giving him access to a new set of alien heroes. Over the past few years, Ben has matured dramatically.

Gwen Tennyson- Now 15, Gwen is much more proficient with her powers, able to manipulate energy directly as opposed to using spells. Gwen is much calmer and grown up, nowhere near as fiery or sharp-tongued as she was five years ago.

Kevin Levin- A former nemesis of Ben, 16-year-old Kevin reforms and joins the Tennysons on their quest to repay Magister for saving him from the Forever Knights. While not as psychotic as he once was, he still desires revenge for his time in the Null Void at first, though he puts it aside to help stop the Highbreed. His abilities now allow him to absorb the properties of any solid matter he touches.

Humongousaur- Humongousaur is a Vaxasaurian, a humanoid dinosaur alien from the planet Terradino (a play on 'dino' from dinosaur). Standing at about twelve feet tall, Humongousaur has great strength and vast resistance to injury. He also has the power to increase his own body size and mass, growing up to sixty feet in height. His strength increases as he grows, and his dinosaur features become more pronounced.

Spidermonkey- Spidermonkey is a Arachnichimp (a play on arachnid and chimpanzee) from the planet Aranhascimmia. As his name suggests, he is a six-limbed monkey-like alien. He has superhuman agility and, like a spider, can spin webs that he can swing from or create nets from his tail, and stick to walls. When Ben transforms into Spidermonkey, he talks in an excited, childish tone and displays mischievous characteristics with occasional monkey-like screeching.

Jetray- Jetray is a Aerophibian (a play on 'aero' for air and amphibian) from the planet Aeropela. Jetray is a manta ray-like alien capable of flying and swimming faster than the speed of sound. He can fire neuroshock blasts from his eyes and tail, and the stingers on his head carry a powerful poison.

Swampfire- Jetray is a Aerophibian (a play on 'aero' for air and amphibian) from the planet Aeropela. Jetray is a manta ray-like alien capable of flying and swimming faster than the speed of sound. He can fire neuroshock blasts from his eyes and tail, and the stingers on his head carry a powerful poison.

Big Chill- Big Chill is a moth-like alien whose wings and antennae can "fold" up, giving him the appearance of a phantom; his appearance is reminiscent of the cryptid known as Mothman. He can become intangible and invisible, and can breathe freezing vapor. He can also freeze the objects he phases through at his discretion.

Goop- Goop is a shape-shifting, self-regenerating green blob that weighs 200 pounds. Goop's slime is controlled by a UFO-like machine over his head, which is also where Ben's voice comes from. The UFO can cause the slime to take any shape, regenerate wounds, and even hover off the ground. However, if the UFO and the slime are separated by even a short distance, the slime will go inert until the UFO recollects it.

Echo Echo- Echo Echo is a Sonorosian from the planet Sonorosia. He is a small white alien whose body is a living amplifier. He can scream at ultrasonic frequencies capable of overloading machinery and stopping projectiles in mid-flight. He also has the ability to duplicate himself, allowing entire groups to be knocked out without hampering the rest. By combining these two aspects, Ben can create the "Wall of Sound", where he and his clones can redirect projectiles back to their source by bouncing them off of strategically placed clones..

Key Game Features:

  • Authentically Step Into The 'Alien Force' World- Play the only video game that allows you to command members of the 'Alien Force' team; investigate ever-before-seen locations, enemies and characters, and explore favorite places from the best show episodes.
  • Multiple Playable Characters with Special Superpowers- Take control of Ben and his new alien forms Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill to manipulate fire, swim underwater, grow more than 60 feet tall, stick to walls, fly at mach speed, plus lots more! Harness Gwen's talent to create an energy shield to protect and attack, and use Kevin Levin's ability to absorb materials to create impenetrable body armor. Adventure as alien forms Echo Echo, Chromastone and Goop exclusively in the Nintendo DS version.
  • Solid and Robust Gameplay- Explore action-packed levels and secret sections in arcade-style gameplay as you clash with more than 20 types of enemies; use more than 75 attack options and create unlimited attack chaining with the streamlined combo system.
  • Based On a Successful Television Franchise- As one of Cartoon Network's breakout original franchises, theBen 10: Alien Forcetelevision series is in its first season as a top-rated show, and is the next generation continuation of the phenomenally successful and Emmy-winningBen 10original series. A long form television movie based onBen 10: Alien Forcewill debut on Cartoon Network in fall 2008.
  • Exceptional Level of Authenticity- The game's art style, sound effects and music are 100% authentic, with all audio in the game pulled directly from the show sound vaults and all voice acting provided by the original television cast.

(Not at All What I Expected)

(Just as addictive as puzzle quest)

(Most addictive of the three battle type puzzle games)

(Liked it much more than Puzzle Quest--Thumbs WAY up!)

(Even Better Than Puzzle Quest)
I literally played this game for approximately 30 minutes and gave up in total frustration. I know now why it was not advertised heavily before its release. It is because it is a horrible game.
I am in love with this game!!! After beating Puzzle Quest, I was eagerly looking for the next puzzle game. I searched on the internet and found out about Galactrix. But I read all of the negative reviews and stayed away from it. I found this one in the store and took a chance on it. Boy oh Boy I can honestly say I am impressed. It even has a few familiar characters from the first Puzzle Quest. The goal of both games is very similar. But the Storyline is different. It is very involving. The storyline is a bit more linear than Puzzle Quest. After you conquer a kingdom, there are only a few places to go. The minigames are cool and cause you to run out of Gold before you know it. I will say one thing, this game is a bit easier ro play than Puzzle Quest. It seems more equally biased. The first game seemed as though it was constantly biased toward the computer. This one seems more balanced. I'm not done with the game yet, but I haven't been able to put it down. I completely recommend this game. It's only $20 and it will keep you entertained for days.
Having played Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and Puzzle Quest: Galactrix all the way through, this game is more fun, addicting, and creative than the other two combined.

Learning to play the game takes a bit of getting used to, as you control the gems from the edges (which move entire rows) rather than moving the individual gems. This is a refreshing and smart change from the conventional match 3 gem game.

General gameplay: You go through kingdoms and battle the kings and villages to take over their kingdom. You then command the kingdom with the king you just defeated. You can then recruit new troops by solving puzzles (by clearing a certain amount of gems in a time limit). You can also discover new spells in newly defeated kingdoms (by clearing gems in a limited number of moves). To compare to hacking galaxies in Galactrix, the time limited puzzles here are actually relaxing!

Sounds: That brings me to the music. You don't usually expect much from the music on the DS, but this game actually has really outstanding music and great medieval sounds that go along with the atmosphere.

Troops: The main portion of the gameplay is battles of course. Your one leader controls troops as you conquer a kingdom. Your troops can die, and you can recruit new ones. You can customize what troops you want. For example, I recruited a Unicorn, Ogre, Knight, and dwarf. Who'd have thought these types would fight together? There are a large number of other possible recruits you can use, up to about 20-30.

Spells&unique items: This is another major aspect of the gameplay during battles. Spells do things like heal, change gem colors, give troops power points, etc. Unique items are a major help in battles as they do things like give bonus defenses, and extra turns.

Kingdom customization: As you obtain many kingdoms, you can customize each individual kingdom and go on fighting with different leaders. This is an awesome feature as different leaders have different skills. The variability in this game is incredible, that's what makes it such a fantastic game.

Leveling up: Each leader you have can gain levels as you conquer kingdoms. What's awesome is how fast they level up. For example, By conquering only one kingdom I was able to get my Dwarf leader to level 5, which he can now use spells and gains other nice stats. It's nice to change leaders when you want to experiment with other stats, and it doesn't take that long!

I'm very happy with this game as it blows its two predecessors out of the water. The only con I can think of is its not good for time management! The game is almost TOO addicting.

This game is a blast and better (IMHO) than Puzzle Quest. In PQ I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the game. I did not find it self explanatory. Additionally it always seemed the AI cheated or was at least favorably awarded "extra's" more often. Although I liked it I got very frustrated. This necessitated some breaks so I would not throw my DS against a wall.

Puzzle Kingdom takes most of the things found in Puzzle Quest and refines it with better explanation and clearer tutorials that explain everything to you. It let's you save outside of the battles (but it forces you to quit which is a minor annoyance..I just restarted quickly and it was no big deal). If you wait for the game to let you save you will find yourself back at the beginning of the area with all progress lost--so do yourself a favor and save frequently and often. You will be much happier.

I thought the variation on the match 3 puzzle play was great and it makes me think much harder than something like 7 Wonders or Jewel Quest--which is good. After playing many match 3 puzzle games they were kind of getting a bit stale (although they are always addicting!). In JK you know what color is "waiting in the wings" on each square outside the grid so it is more about figuring out which square should move left/right/up/down than about looking inside the square for a match 3 if that makes sense.

I thought the story was fine--nothing too earth shattering but sufficient for me. The mini games were o.k. and worked well and can be quite challening.

Overall a great game!

Like the previous reviewer, I was disappointed in the developer's previous game, Galactrix. Puzzle Kingdoms makes up for Galactrix and now seems even better than Puzzle Quest!

Like Puzzle Quest, you need to put three or more similarly-colored blocks together to clear them and gain power. Unlike Puzzle Quest, the blocks no longer have to be in a row or column. Furthermore, you aren't forced to make a match. If it suits you better to move certain blocks around to make it harder for your opponent to make a good move, you can do so. Also, instead of just switching the positions of two blocks, you now shift entire rows or columns, so you have to give more thought to what you will be allowing your opponent to do. Lastly, you can see all of the blocks that might be added when shifting rows or columns, so you have to factor that information into your final decision for your move. These differences add a huge amount of strategic pleasure to the basic color-matching system.

If that wasn't enough strategy, you can build armies out of various units. Your goal is to wipe out your opponent's units. Each unit has certain color requirements in order to attack, an attack value, and a number of hit points. A unit can attack as soon as its color requirements are met. However, you might want to delay an attack until you have more powered-up units, because a coordinated attack gets additional damage bonuses.

For example, an axeman has a base attack value of 2 and 3 base hit points, and he requires three white power to attack. An imp has a base attack value of 1 and only 2 base hit points, but requires only two blue power to attack, and a goblin has the same attack and HP, but requires only two red power to attack. The imp and the goblin can each hit more often than the axeman, but they are weaker. On the other hand, the imp's and goblin's power requirements are lower, so if they make a coordinated attack, they'll each do more damage overall. Deciding which units to add and when they should attack adds even more strategy to this game.

And if all that isn't enough, you can earn gold by defeating opponents, and the gold can be used to play mini-games that unlock various items, spells, and relics that can be used to further customize your army. You can tweak your army so it can suit various strategies, and unlike Puzzle Quest, you can have multiple heroes leading the armies, and you can choose how those heroes develop through experience, so you can experiment with many different strategies.

I haven't played a strategy game this deep, customizable, and addicting since X-Com or Jagged Alliance 2. Puzzle Kingdoms is already in my top 20 of all time, and that's really saying something, since I've been playing computer and video games since 1977!

Puzzle Kingdoms brings players engaging, classic turn-based gameplay with a captivating fantasy storyline. Fast and unique puzzle mechanics make building troops, managing armies, fortifying castles, and lauching assaults addictive in any campaign. Customizable kingdoms and innovative play combine to create one of the greatest games in the puzzle RPG genre.

(Wicked abilities!)

(First Kirby Game)

(Kirby Squeak Squad)

(Kirby is great... but not this one)

(a waste of huge money)
This game has new abilities and I've found five of them (I'm not sure if you know about it) it's the three element swords and two element bombs. It's sweet!
This was the first of the Kirby games I've played, and while it is easy and yes you can beat it in one day. I got alot of enjoyment outta playing it! The storyline was really cute, and really Kirby is just awesomely adorable! I think it's worth buying to own, and despite what people say it really is a worthwhile Kirby game to me, it's what got me started on playing the Kirby games!
My kids love it, they have so much fun playing it. They can play it over and over.
Karen

Kirby is a GREAT franchise, Kirby is a great and original character, and the man who created Kirby is one of the masterminds behind Super Smash Bros. However, this game is lacking. In Kirby, you swallow enemies to get different abilities so that you can fight enemies. That is still there. The great feeling of controlling the pink puffball is also still here. However, the level designs feel repeated, and the difficulty of the game is WAAAY too easy. Even for a Kirby game. The story-line (even though no Kirby has that great of a story other than Canvas Curse) is very weak. At the beginning, Kirby is about to eat a piece of cake, when the Squeak Squad steals it. So he chases and you have the game. At the end (which comes relatively quickly, even for a Kirby game) all he does is eat his cake. He didn't even seem to help any other people!
The usage of the touchscreen is almost unbearable. Technically, what is on the touchscreen is, well, Kirby's stomach. Here you can store bubbles of copy abilities and mix abilities. However, this is way too hard to try and do. And the limited space is confusing as well as the fact of there being no use of storing more than one copy ability. Oops for Hal Labs.
They added what seemed to be nothing new, other than an excruciating new touch screen play, which is not good. I believe some of the music has been used before in more than one Kirby. The story-line is short, and not good. But worst of all, there seems to be no "fresh" material in this game at all! It feels overused... Sorry. I LOVE Kirby, but this seems to be the worst of the crop.
Your friend in gaming,
CPU12 The Nintendo Freak

This game to me is the worst kirby game out there. i am a kirby fan but this is not worth no 34.99 or 29.99. Because you can beat it in one day instead rent it. this game is the worst of them all, why dont they make a remake of kirby superstar instead of this crap. canvas curse is better than this. The controls are good but i expected something like kirby and the crystal shards which you can also beat in one day also but at least theres 3d graphics to come back to.Pretty much if you're going to get it rent it dont buy it.This should be done with almost all kirby games because most are short except for air ride.
Kirby's back and ready for a bellyful of adventure, in Kirby Squeek Squad. When someone steals some strawberry shortcake, the pink powerhouse sets out after them, learning new skills. All the classic floating, jumping and battling of a classic Kirby game are here, but with a massive boost. You'll mix and match abilities that Kirby copies, by using the stylus to drag them together inside Kirby's belly (located on the touch screen). The powers themselves now have the ability to affect the environment, as well as foes. Burn trees and grasses with the Fire ability, freeze water with the Ice ability. In sub-game mode, this game also features multiplayer fun for up to four players, using either Multi-Card or DS Download Play over DS Local Area Network.

(Really enjoying this game)

(cake mania)

(Addicting!)

(i got my computer back)

(Great for the casual gamer)
This is my first experience with Cake Mania. I've been playing this game now for about a week and I'm finding it so much fun!. I'm finding as the levels go on its becoming more challenging, which I really enjoy rather than finding them all easy. I like the option to keep buying upgrades with the money I earn, that way it makes each shift have a reason and not just a matter of collecting money.

The only things I don't really like with this game is that due to it being on a small screen its hard to see some of the decorations. Also the other thing I don't really like is how you have to press an arrow in order to get full access to the whole kitchen, when I'm in the middle of a busy shift it can be a little bit of a hassle ;)

Overall its definitely worth playing! :D

I purchased this game after getting cake mania 2 for my DS. I enjoyed all the cake mania games online on my pc so was happy to get them for my DS. I think it's worth the money if you enjoy time management games.
This game is addicting! I've played both the PC version and now the DS. The only complaint I would have is that the whole "room" doesn't show on the screen, so you have to be careful that while the screen is shifting to the "other side of the room" you don't accidently hit a wrong button - that can be frustrating when you're going very fast (that's the ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars overall)!
Other than that, it's fun&challenging and VERY addicting! I would buy it again, so I recommend it!

My 6 year old always wanted to play cake mania on the computer which took up a lot of time. Now she can play on her DS. It is just like the computer game. Now I got my computer back.
I purchased this game for my wife, a casual gamer, because she loved "Cooking Mama" so much. While the game was relatively short (and probably not with much replay value); she did have a good time playing it and I feel like she got $20 of fun and entertainment out of the title.

(What a surprise)

(Good)

(Fun but not addictive)

(Absolutely Loved It!)

(Great game - until level 19)
I took a chance based on a review found here on Amazon.com and yes, it was quite a surprise. The biggest problem is that it was too? No enough? A little too?

Okay the concept of the game was phenomenal, I was challenged initially and then it became a little over the top on completing the challenges. Basically earn of enough money from purchasing property, upgrading and reselling to complete the goal.

The graphics left a lot to be desired.

I would really recommend giving this game a shot nonetheless.

This game was a lot of fun. I hope it has a sequel. It did end too quickly.
I was very excited to receive this game because I could not put Cake Mania 2 down and I am in the building industry. I really enjoyed the game but I did not find it super challenging. If you build the biggest properties possible and own a bank you can reach your goals. Once I figured that I out I finished the game in no time.
Loved it! Very addicting! Highly recommend. Can't wait for a Build-A-Lot 2.

From 40+ mom with 3 kids

This game was soooo much fun I couldn't put it down. Until I got to Level 19. After about 20 or more tries, I found it impossible to get thru level 19. So I gave it to my daughter and told her to let me know if she gets stuck. She told me she quit at level 19. Her son has been trying to get past that level. If he can't get thru, I guess we will put the game in storage, partly finished, and move on to another one. Anybody have a cheat code?

(amazing game xD)

(Great game, but loses it's steam after the second chapter.)

(For fans only)

(difficult, abstract maybe, but very fun)

(An extremely intriquing and delightfully humorous game)
This is game full of drama and excitement. Eventhough we can no longer play as our favorite character, Phoenix Wright, but this new game still doesn't lack the excitement and the fun that was contained in the first 3 games. The cases, in my opinion, is a little harder than the first three games, and it requires a lot of investigation work, but it's all worth it in the end when you finish the cases. I was so disappointed when I finished the whole game, wanting some more of this fun.
Pros:
-Graphics and sound truly are a step up for the series
-Gameplay retains the same PW charm
-Forensics add significantly to the fun factor of the game
-Chapter 2 is the gameplay pinnacle of the series to date

Cons:
-Story has continuity issues
-Still a very linear series
-Solutions can be obscure and frustrating at times
-Everything past Chapter 2 is disappointing by comparison
-Not much to do with the PW story arc aside from a few returning characters
-Very likely the last game in the Ace Attorney series

Short synopsis: Still caters to a niche crowd---won't expand the Ace Attorney fanbase beyond what it already is. Retains all the flaws of the PW games without adding much beyond the semi-new (for US gamers) forensics system. Better introduction to the series for new people compared to the original PW games, but not by much. Fun for current fans of the series, although story will disappoint.

Detailed review:

Having played all of the Phoenix Wright games, I was looking forward to this one. Ultimately, it was a mixed experience. The game starts out strong, with the traditional court-only tutorial sequence (and with a hefty spoiler right at the start for those that have played the previous entries---I can't go into detail here). Users that have played previous entries in the series or are already familiar with the mechanics through other means can skip the following bracketed section.

[A summary of the game mechanics for the uninitiated:

The core of the game is still the same as it was in the Phoenix Wright games. A crime is committed, you take the case, and begin your own investigation. The game is divided into two separate phases---the "Investigation" phase and the "Courtroom" phase. Traditionally, you will have two of each phases per case in an alternating pattern (i.e., I-C-I-C) although this is not guaranteed, sometimes you will have more than 2 court phases, or just one investigation phase and one court phase.

During the Investigation part of the game, you visit varied locales, interview witnesses and suspects, and collect evidence via the "Examine" command. This is the traditional Adventure genre part of the game, and is similar to older PC games like Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion. You spend most of the game in this phase. There is always a marked end to this phase which leads into the Court phase.

The Court part of the game is what is truly unique about this series. The Court phase is structured in a manner similar to an actual trial. A witness, suspect, or your client is called to the stand and testimony is given. After hearing testimony, you are able to cross-examine the person on the stand. Cross-examining consists of paging through their testimony, pressing them for more information, and presenting evidence to call out contradictions. The objective is to essentially discredit the testimony and/or reveal new information that leads the case in a new direction (which doesn't always work out in your favor---but this section is linear and you don't have a choice). These portions of the game are markedly shorter than the investigation phases, but the court proceedings further the story, whereas the investigation phases usually only provide information that you have to sort and decode once you get into the courtroom.

The obvious objective is to get a "Not Guilty" verdict, which will lead to a epilogue and the unlocking of the next chapter in the game.]

Review continues here:

Immediately it's obvious that this game, unlike the other Ace Attorney games, is not a GBA port. The character sprites have been revamped and look hand-drawn---they brought back memories of the old SF:Alpha games for the PS1. Additionally, the backgrounds were redone to take advantage of the DS's significantly larger color palette and no longer suffer from the serious dithering and lack of detail they used to. The music has also been updated to CD quality tracks that are also very reminiscent of CAPCOM's PS1 days (which is an excellent thing).

It's impressive that even after all of these revamps and updates, that the game still feels familiar and retains that classic Phoenix Wright charm. All of the updates seem like an organic evolution of the original, and players of the Phoenix Wright games will immediately recognize characters, locations, and even the music despite being drastically modernized.

After playing through the tutorial, the player is presented with an almost "open world" scenario with multiple objectives to be accomplished during the investigation phase. The investigation portion of the game has (thankfully) been updated to match the way the game played during the DS-exclusive case in the first Phoenix Wright game. Instead of solely relying on moving from location to location, talking through all of the subjects with every person possible, with the occasional "Examine" evidence collection; the game now utilizes a forensic element which makes the investigation part of the game significantly more fun.

Players of the first game will be familiar with this forensics concept. In addition to conducting interviews, you will now be responsible for tasks such as dusting for prints on evidence, spraying Luminol to check for blood, and creating plaster casts of footprints embedded in the ground at the crime scene. You will also be required to examine your evidence and interact with it in such a way that can either reveal the true function of the piece of evidence, or expose more evidence inside or on the original piece evidence itself.

A final thing worth mentioning before going into the problems this game has is the change to the court proceedings. Gone are the psych-locks from the investigation phases of the second and third Phoenix Wright games. Instead, a new feature was added to the court phase to make up for this. During certain parts of testimony while cross-examining someone, you'll have the option to slow time down and get a magnified view of the person you're cross-examining. During the slow replay of testimony, you examine the witness closely to check for a "tell" (for those who don't play Poker---you're looking for a nervous twitch or some other sign that indicates the person is lying), locating the tell allows you to press the person on the stand for more testimony.

With this said, the game is far from perfect.

Players of the original Phoenix Wright games will likely be disappointed that this game seems to take place on an alternate timeline that was created for the DS exclusive chapter in the first Phoenix Wright. There are only three returning characters (not counting The Judge), and a few (rather lame) references to other characters in the original timeline are thrown out there. The returning characters also feel almost out of place, which is likely due to the fact that the development team originally did not want a connection to the Phoenix Wright games aside from the "Ace Attorney" franchise name.

The game also really slows down after the second chapter. After being teased with a huge amount of freedom (for the series) in Chapter 2, the game quickly brings itself back into an extremely linear, contained world in the subsequent chapters. While it's not a game killer, it's disappointing because it almost feels as though the true potential scope of the game is realized, then quickly yanked away from you as though to tease you.

Additionally, the court sequences still feel too linear and "puzzle-like" with only one path to a "Not Guilty" verdict. This path can, at times, be extremely obscure as well, forcing multiple replays because of the "guess and check" method or requiring the help of a FAQ. There is only one "two choice" option at the very end of the game in the very last court session, and it feels like a token choice; since one option leads to a short "bad" ending. It seems that the developers weren't afraid to toy with the Investigation part of the game, but were horrified to change the Courtroom sequences (excluding the new special ability).

Finally, the story, even taken out of context of the rest of the series, is also somewhat disappointing. Most of the new characters don't have as much personality as those in the old series did, and a few of the characters are really just dopplegangers of past characters from a story and personality perspective. The ending, while touching, doesn't tie up a number of loose ends. This would be forgivable if not for the fact that the ending doesn't indicate that there will be a second Apollo Justice game.

Apollo Justice is the 4th game in the ace attorney series and is the first to have a somewhat entirely new cast of characters. The gameplay is still the same as the previous 3: investigate crime scene, talk to people, gather evidence, and go to court. A new feature in this game is the Perceive ability which replaces the Psyche Lock from previous games and instead of presenting evidence to make people tell the truth, you look at people, study their actions and when they do something abnormal, you start to break them to cause them to talk. I acctually enjoyed it more than the Psyche Lock, mostly because that feature esstially made court time pointless because you would have figured out who did it by then.

The 3 things that ruin this game the most are:

1. The Characters
All of them werent unique and esstianlly replace previous characters and act in the same way they did. Apollo is like a rookie Pheonix Wight, only he never really develops and is never sure of himself. Pheonix was able to acctually solve things by himself whereas Apollo for the most part has to be lead through the case to come to a conclusion. Hes a smart kid but just doesnt apply himself very much. Trucy is like Maya, only she swtiches from being more annoying than her or more helpful. Klavier is a cross between von Karma and Edgeworth, he really only cares about the truth and acctually helps the defense for the most part, but at the same time, hes a german rockstar. Why you ask? Because the game says so. I could go on but you should get the point by now. Also on a side note, the supporting characters for the cases were beyond annoying. One case involves a whiney 19 year-old punk who acctually talks gangster ("Im totally straight up O.G. man!" for instance) while another case involves a "russian" who says "dah" every other word.

2. Flashbacks
Having a few flashbacks every now and then is fine, but having nearly every other dialoge sequence a flashback on something we learned just 5 minutes ago gets extremely annoying and is unacceptable. How many times do I have to see a guy be murdered? How many times do I have to watch the same music video?

3. The Cases themselves
The cases for the most part werent very interesting and the entire case itself will completely do a 180 every time you prove something wrong. One witness will completely change their location over 3 times which will make the entire case either more confusing or annoying. The murderers are so painfully obvious that they might as well be wearing a large neon sign saying "I did it!" and it becomes more apparent who it is by the time the second investigation starts.

While the game was for the most part fun, it was also annoying at most times for the 3 reasons listed above and at one point I had to put the game down and take a break because I couldnt stand the characters anymore. The game was extremely easy compared to the previous ones and I had to consult a guide maybe twice. If youre new to the series, go start with the first game, Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney, and decide if you like it or not. The previous 3 games are by far better than this one and I suggest checking them out because if this game wasnt part of a series, I wouldnt be able to reccomend it.

as the ace attorney series has continued, its become harder and harder for me to solve the cases without cheating, but regardless the storylines are always amusing and deliver very good gameplay and comedy.

this particular game shifts the focus to a new crew and attorney, which may alienate some, but let it go since the game is worth the play. just be warned, because you really have to think outside the box in solving these cases.

First off, those who may be put off by average ratings of this game need to be told something: most of those reviews are by people who have played previous games in the series. Having particular expectations that were not met in the sequel is what ruined the game for them.
If this will be the first time you've played an Ace Attorney game, rest assured that this game will leave you feeling rewarded and definitely satisfied with your purchase.
Apollo Justice is an interactive novel. That means you'll be reading for probably over half of the time that you spend playing. Everything that you read will be a part of helping solve each case, so you're never without an incentive to read carefully and not just click through the dialogue. Not that you would want to, either; Apollo Justice is brimming with humorous anecdotes, jokes, and a few references that will go over a younger players head -- all of them treated in the same intellectually niche style that is exuded from the entire game.
Apollo Justice has its own set of court mechanics similar to real life but with a few twists. Witnesses make a testimony, the entirety of which can be reviewed by you (usually each testimony is only a paragraph or two long). You can then have the witness elaborate on each segment of testimony or try to refute their statements with evidence. Evidence can come from many sources, and using the correct item at the correct time can at times be one of the hardest intellectual parts of the game.
When you're not in court, you'll be at other locations picking up evidence or pieces of info that move the story along and just may be helpful when deciding the correct path once you're in court.
Along the way you'll meet many varied characters. For the most part, the characters in the story are interesting and quite relevant. All of them keep the game interesting while adding interesting elements to the story. The main characters especially are fully fleshed out and really shine in the later stages of the game.
Once you've played for a while, you'll fall in love with the soundtrack. It always sets the right mood and never seems to get boring.
All in all, this is a five-star game experience if you're playing the series for the first time. With so many things to do, the gameplay is never lacking. Using forensic tools, examining evidence, grilling witnesses, picking apart contradictory statements, and getting swept into the story are what the game is about. The entire game is polished with an intellectual humor that makes it at once sophisticated yet accessible. The last court case gets everything right in a smooth synchronization of all the gameplay elements that will leave you dazzled by the complexity of the entire game, and how beautifully connected everything was all along.

Players star as rookie defense attorney Apollo Justice as he visits crime scenes, questions key witnesses and collects vital evidence before stepping into the courtroom to prove his clients' innocence. Facing Apollo across the courtroom is the highly talented and flamboyant prosecutor Klavier Gavin who, in addition to being a legal genius, is also lead singer with Gavinners, a highly successful rock band with a string of hits to their name. He may be young and inexperienced but Apollo's confident manner and passion, coupled with his unique ability to uncover witnesses' lies by studying their body language, will prove invaluable assets in the courtroom as he pleads the case for the defense. Thankfully, Apollo is not alone and is aided both in and out of the courtroom by his assistant Trucy, a mysterious female magician. Apollo also receives invaluable advice from his mentor the ultra-cool Kristoph Gavin, elder brother of Klavier, whose perfect logic and natural instincts have won him numerous cases and the respect of his colleagues.

(DS Cover)

(Don't drop it)

(Scratch Protection Only!)
I love the way it fits the DS system, doesn't interfere with game play and protects the finish on the game system.
If people are wondering this Silicone skin doesn't do a thing beyond keep your DS from getting scratched up like the previous reviewer said. It isn't for protecting your DSi from getting dropped or anything else. I just bought it myself and don't see me using it beyond that. I would go and buy something that costs a little bit more because when it comes drop protection. Your DSi deserves a whole lot better than this contraption.
It is what it is. You do NOT want to drop your DSi in this skin! It is VERY thin and provides ONLY protection from scratches (exterior protection only). I expect it to tear fairly soon. I would wait for something a little more durable if you can.
Black Nintendo DSi silicone skin reduces wear and tear due to daily use.

(I miss the 2600!)

(brings back good ole memories)

(Good deal to remember the good times)

(Sends me back in time)

(So dissapointing!)
Despite the much higher technology of the DS to the 2600, these travesties are far worse than the 2600 versions of these games from the 80s. The use of the split screen is extremely badly implemented, the games are both difficult to play and dull, the sounds are horrendous, and the "graffiti" style "remakes" seem like a miserably failed attempt to make these games more "kewl" for younger players. All it does is make older players who remember the originals want to throw this cartridge across the room, and it is my bet younger players will STILL not be interested in these games.
This game brings back all the good ole memories I had as a kid playing my pong!!
Is a very good option to play the original ATARI games, in a portable console. To be honest, i continously grab my daoughter console and play with these ATARI Games.
As a person who was raised on these games, I think this package is great. It really takes me back. Of course, I love the amazing graphics and play in newer NDS games, but really, what beats a game of Pong or Breakout?

I'm giving it an "overall" score of 4 instead of 5 only because it isn't quite the same as using one of those old joysticks.

This is the worst of all the "retro " comps out there by far. The games are not faithful translations to say the least. Tempest is totally unplayable without the use of the touch pad. And the touch pad is very difficult to use. Warlords is OK, but once you beat the first screen it says GAME OVER, and stops! What?! thats it, no progressive levels?
I actually like all the "remix" modes of the games, I think they are all done pretty good, are creative and do give the old timers a fresh feel. However, they really went too far to force these games to take advantage of the DS strengths to a point where they ruined almost all of the games.
I really wish that I would have read these reviews before I had bought this game, but I JUST ASSUMED that these games would be straight ports of these classics with the OPTION of something new thrown in if you were in thew mood. This is clearly not the case.

Atari Classics collects some of the original arcade legends and adds a new hi-tech twist. Each game has an original version as well as a Remix Mode, where three legendary graffiti artists have tagged the classics with their own funky street art.

I've been a big fan of the AW series since the beginning on the GBA and I couldnt not have been happier with Dual Strike. The replay value of this game is incredible and I can't put it down. Tons of new CO's and tag team battles, the ability to level up CO's and great multiplayer. Some of the 2nd screen implementation is a little rough but it's still enjoyable and there could have been more useful new vehicles (The stealth fighter and Aircraft carrier and pretty lame in my opinion). Still, with so many modes to play in you just can't go wrong! I purchased a DS just for this series and I am certainly glad I did!
Okay, maybe not. But pretty freaking close. It's definitely the best DS game out there.

Dual Strike improves every aspect of the previous versions ten fold. It's the perfect sequel game: Take Advance Wars 2 and add a bunch more COs, units, maps, better graphics, etc., and you have this game.

Pros:
+ Many more COs than the previous version
+ More units
+ New Tag power
+ Ability to use 2 COs at the same time
+ Keeping of old COs and units
+ Better graphics
+ Nice campaign/plot
+ Endless replay value (if you have friends, that is)

Cons:
- Well, the only thing that ISN'T good about this game is if you're an idiot and can't figure out how to use strategies. I'll admit, if you're new to Advance Wars, it WILL take a little while to figure everything out, but that's to be expected. As long as your smarter than a rock, figuring out a good strategy isn't hard.

I'd recommend this game to anyone. That is, unless you suck at strategy; in which case, you might want to think twice about it. Even if you suck at strategy, this game shouldn't take too long to get used to. Just don't get it if you HATE strategy.

Once I got into Dual Strike, I realized that it was the only DS game I'd ever need; until, of course, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin came out (which I have also reviewed). =)

I first discovered the advance wars series on the gba....and have been playing each game in the series ever since. All the old favorites have returned, including Andy and Sami, and also some new faces. added highlights include dual screen battles (sometimes you don't actually control the top screen's troops) and more CO's, double CO powers, and more maps and vehicles types.

Even with all these added improvements....the gameplay itself is very balanced. There are times though, where the enemy will use a double CO power to totally turn the tide against you, but you are also free to do the same.

After beating the campaign mode, you can play battle mode, make your own maps, unlock Hard Campaign, and trade maps with other players. the DS version also includes the ability to play multiplayer with one DS and one cartridge, just as the gba versions allowed.

This is one of my favorite games, and has sucked more free time from my bones than any other game in recent memory.

A beautiful strategy game for DS players who like to think! One of the best games to come out for the system. I only wish it used WI-Fi...
Finally...
For the ds....
One of the best new series nintendo has...

Advance Wars: Dual Strike is the latest in the hit tactical series. Enjoy an incredible new battle system that takes full advantage of the Nintendo DS system's two screens. New missions will have you commanding air forces on the top screen and ground forces below on the touch screen. Besides leading your army to victory with a slew of original COs, you can also clash with your friends over wireless connections. Easy-to-use map editor
