(Horrible game... returned it to the store!!)

(Hamsterz 2 Nintendo DS)

(great game)

(Boring)

(If you only buy one virtual hamster game this year, it should be this one.)
DO NOT get this confused with Hampsterz 2!!!!! I made this mistake and found out the hard way. My 3 year old daughter originally played Hampsterz because a friend owned it. So I went to the store and got it. Well I got Hampsterz 2. The guy at the store said its the same thing, just more features. WRONG!!!!!! Its is COMPLETELY a different game!!!!! and hard too!!! My 7 year old even cant stand it!!! There is very little hampster play. You spend most of the game talking to the computer in imaginary friend sequences in the bedroom. After reading information online I discovered my mistake and have since returned the game for the REAL Hampsterz game!!! Hampsterz 2 was a shady attempt to sneak in a different game under the Popular Hampsterz title. Its a shame. I'm glad my video game store allowed me to return it with no hassles!!! Otherwise it would have been going in the trash!! If you look on ebay there are TONS of these for sale CHEAP, and only ONE hampsterz game for twice as much as it retails. That alone shoudl tell you something!!! Dont waste your money on Hampsters 2!!!
My daughter, 11, was really happy to get this game at first but tired of it quickly. The hamsters are moody and don't do as much as the product info says. Graphics are pretty good. She likes Hamsterz Life better.
hamsterz is a really fun game. your hamster has a baby in 2 months. buy stuff for your hamster. do your name at the begining and what you look like. get your kid this game it is really fun buy a hamster a hamster wheel i am 6.
I bought this product for me and my 6 year old son because we own a hamster. The game is very limited to what you can do. It says there is a lot of stuff you can buy it but there is never anything avaliable in the pet store when we go to buy stuff. It really just has food and water and a cage but none of the cool toys are two story houses it talks about. Also, from what I can tell your hamster doesn't have babies to take care of either. Very boring not a lot to do. I kept playing hoping for more but have lost interest. So has my 6 year old!
Hamsters! Is there anything they can't do?

If you answered "yes, there are a number of things they can't do," you'd be correct. "Petz: Hamsterz 2" simulates the limitations of our rodent friends quite nicely. They can't speak, their available color options are limited, and while their built-in behaviors are not as numerous as those of mice, they can do a lot more than than invertebrates such as worms and other insects. Go hamsters!

Where "Petz: Hamsterz 2" fails is in its missed opportunities:

1. It doesn't capitalize on its "urban" sounding name, which despite containing two terminal letter "z"s to indicate plural, does not contain a single hip-hop reference.

2. It doesn't acknowledge the 10-year anniversary of the "Hampster Dance," which was an array of animated GIF files that first appeared online in August 1998 and was copied by dozens of pretenders. It is unclear to this reviewer whether the omission was deliberate or due to copyright and intellectual property disputes. Either way, it's a darned shame.

Perhaps the inevitable "Petz: Hamsterz 3" will remedy these oversights. Personally, I'd like to see armed "hamsterz in da hood" to the sped-up theme to Disney's Robin Hood. I know for a fact there is unmet demand for video games featuring rodents carrying firearms, as evidenced by recent next-gen "Sonic the Hedgehog" spin-offs.

Criticisms aside, this is by far the best hamster simulation I have played in this year, this decade -- dare I say, ALL TIME? If you, your child, or an elderly dependent likes rodents, but not the feel, odor, of risk of hamster-borne illness, this is a required purchase!

Adopt a cute hamster from different breeds, raise and train him. As your hamster grows stronger, he can build his own Ham-country with its own bakery, school and bookstore and invite other hamsters.

(My Opinion)

(Solid addictive game but pure time waster)

(A game you've played before only longer)

(The Ultimate Harvest Moon Challenge)

(A Great game!)
I was very excited about this game, I got it pretty much right after it came out. The only other HM game I've played was the original one, so I was excited to see all the new things on this game.

I noticed a lot of people having problems with the stylus control. In the beginning, it was a little awkward, but after playing it for a few weeks, I've pretty much got it under control. I have had some issues with getting stuck and dropping some things, but not really enough to be a bother.

My biggest problem was that gameplay was real slow in the beginning. For the first two "years", very little happened. After spring of the third year though, gameplay has gotten much better. Almost too much is going on now. My advice on this is just stick with it, because eventually it will pick up.

I've only just started my third "year", so I know there's a lot that hasn't happened yet, but so far, I'm enjoying the heck out of it. If you like the other HM games, I would definitely reccommend this game. I'm 23 and female, and I think this game is addicting.

Like many of the reviewers that gave average scores, I'm a veteran HM player. I've played Harvest Moon DS: Island of Happiness for over fifty hours now and have been quite disappointed. It's addictive, but it's no fun and frustrating.

Pros:
1. Includes both boy and girl main characters in one game. Huge plus.
2. Use of touch controls compared to HM DS. People complain about frustrating controls, but one just needs to get used to it. Note that you can use the D-pad/buttons to select and use the tools.
3. Almost no typos and glitches. Very solid.
4. Rebuilding an entire island town is a refreshing approach.
5. Tool upgrading thru wonderfuls adds a nice RPG element.

Cons:
1. Frustrating randomness. Crops only grows depending on weather conditions, which makes sense. However, you can go a whole season without profit cause it rained too much or get a series of cloudy days.
2. Cheap events and cheap festivals. The elements that really made the HM games great are neglected once again. The festivals have no activities, just participation crap. Where are the tomato fights, chicken sumo, horse racing, etc?!? There aren't even any mountain top romance scenes.
3. Mining is still no fun and is a huge time sink, and you can't avoid it if you want to progress. Mining sucks.
4. A lot of corner-cutting design decisions: several villagers have the same model, no wedding dresses/tuxedos for marriages, repetitive dialogs.
5. You're forced to socialize occasionally to prevent people from moving out or from refusing your gifts. Note that this game can reach up to 99 villagers.
6. So many tiny and costly upgrades meant to just slow you down.
7. Animal care mini-games are no fun and just gives you blisters.
8. Harvest Sprites no longer help you with the farm work!

I've played nearly every Harvest Moon game on every system and this one is by far my least favorite. The main reason for this is that, in my opinion, the game doesn't really add any enjoyable elements to the series but instead places restrictions on all your activities to make them take longer to accomplish. For example, many of your crops are locked and won't be available until the second year comes or you ship a certain number of crops (likely accomplished your 3rd year or later). Does making it take longer for you to unlock things really make this game harder or more enjoyable. I think it just makes this game long and repetitive.
'Island of Happiness' may be the ultimate challenge for players of 'Harvest Moon'. Your character can be either a boy or a girl. Having two slots for two different games allows you to play each gender independently on the same cartridge. Although the basic landscape and characters are the same for both genders, obviously candidates for marriage differ completely. This means that you effectively have two games in one when you buy IoH. In fact, rather than having only 4 possible 'Heart Events' for each Eligible Girl/Bachelor leading to marriage, each has different events based on the responses that your character makes in the course of each Event. The amount of detail that went into this game is staggering. Crops no longer simply need to be watered daily. There are Crops that require 'more' water or 'less' water, as well as 'more' or 'less' sunlight. Rice can be grown in special rice paddies and you can grow wheat, soybeans and buckwheat in your field. The addition of a Thresher and Flour Mill to the ordinary set of Makers in your Maker Shed increases the number of 'processed' goods. Island of Happiness, in short, can occupy the player for years. You need patience and determination to unlock every option, but as always, Harvest Moon can be played on many levels and even a beginner can enjoy this game, going at his/her own pace. There is no 'win' or 'lose' situation here. The graphics are wonderful and as ever, 'Harvest Moon' offers romance, poignancy, friendship and humour to its fans. It is more than a game: it represents a profoundly balanced philosophy of existence for every age group.
5 stars=great, 4 stars=good, 3 stars=fine, 2 stars=poor, 1 star=horrible

Ill start with the controls. U can only control the character with touch screen. 4 ****

Sound(music): The sound is good and not annoying. I dont find it being repetitive. 5 *****

Gameplay: There is tons of stuff to do. U can fish, mine, cook, do house upgrades, huge selection of stuff to build and buy. 5*****

Graphics: Nothing wrong with graphics. Reminds me of HM Magical Melody.
5 *****

Overall, this is a great game. Will keep u busy for a long time. Best HM that i played on the DS.

You're shipwrecked! Luckily no one was hurt and most of the passengers set sail for their destinations, but you found an abandoned homestead on a remote island. With hard work and skillful farming, you will prosper and help your adventurous shipmates establish a new village with roads, bridges and exciting places to visit. There's a lot of farming to do, people to date and animals to care for. It's a new beginning and a chance to raise a farming family of your own.

InHarvest Moon: Island of Happinessplayers' plans to start a new life are drastically changed when the ship you are on is destroyed by a tropical storm. Now you find yourself stranded on an isolated island with a family of four from the ship. However, it seems that the island once was inhabited before…what happened to the people that used to live there? As you develop the island by growing crops, taking care of animals and expanding your farm, others will start to move onto the island and this mystery may be solved. The better you do, the more the island will grow. Though it was not your original dream, now is your chance to create your very own paradise.

First Things First: Farming
Working with your fellow refugees, your first order of business is to create a farm. With what you grow you will soon be able to feed yourself and your fellow castaways and eventually will graduate to raising animals (some of the animals included are: cows, sheep, chickens and ducks). As you build up your farm, people who have an interest in the farming business move on over to the island and seek you out. These people open up shops and facilities, contributing to the island's development, and provide you with new areas to explore and new people to speak with.

Getting Married
What good is paradise without someone to share it with? Once players have established themselves on the island by building and maintaining a farm and successfully raising animals on their homestead they will begin to notice that there are quite a few more people on the island than they initially suspected. Like yourself, many of these new faces are looking for someone to share their lives with. In addition to success on the farm, marriage also requires a few other requirements, but once satisfied you are free to play the field, go on dates and search available profiles for that special someone. But be careful. You will not be compatible with everyone you meet. Just a few or the bachelors and bachelorettes you will run into are:
'Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness' bachelorette #1: NatalieName: Natalie
Gender: Female
Bio: Natalie is one of the people who is shipwrecked on the island with you. She can be rather rough, a tomboy and competitive, and usually makes fun of her brother.
'Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness' bachelor #1: VaughnName: Vaughn
Gender: Male
Bio: An exotic animal dealer, Vaughn has a very serious, almost emotionless attitude. He comes to the islands on Wednesdays and Thursdays and carries a lot of money.
'Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness' bachelorette #2: SabrinaName: Sabrina
Gender: Female
Bio: Sabrina came to the island with her father, who is president of the mining company. She is a quiet, shy girl who helps her father with his work and is very interested in ores.
'Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness' bachelor #2: SheaName: Shea
Gender: Male
Bio: Shea is the adopted son of the witch doctor, Wada. He helps Wada by guarding his hens, ducks and birds from the Demon Bears. Unlike other bachelors, his heart is invisible.
'Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness' bachelorette #3: Witch PrincessName: Witch Princess
Gender: Female
Bio: The Witch Princess grew tired of living in Forget-Me-Not Valley and so moved to the island in hopes of meeting new people. In addition, she heard that the Harvest Goddess is here. She keeps 21 small teddy bears and one large one in her house and has an invisible heart.
'Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness' bachelor #3: DennyName: Denny
Gender: Male
Bio: Denny is very familiar with the sea. He heard there's a lot to be found on the island, so when his mother told him to meet new people he came to check it out. Though normally cheerful, he has quite a temper when mad.
The island is full of challenges, but with hard work and skillful farming, you will prosper and help your adventurous shipmates establish a new village with roads, bridges and exciting places to visit. There's a lot of farming to do, people to date and animals to care for. It's a new beginning and a chance to raise a farming family of your own.

(Nice case...but is there better?)

(Best I Have Found)

(Ninetendo DS Game Case)

(Neat and organized)

(DS Game case)
Hori has truly manufactured some really nice accessories for video game systems over the years. And they have done a splendid job in creating a durable and practical DS game card protective case. The compact design means that you can can squeeze up to 6 DS game cards into a single protective case, and travel without the need for lugging the much bulkier DS retail jewel cases. The product itself is made of a thick and durable, translucent plastic. It opens up from the side and you'll note the design allows for the case to be used much like a traditional CD wallet. Simply place your DS game cards into the first 3 open slots, close the top lid so that it safely seals your initial 3 game cards, and flip it over to access the final 3 open slots on the bottom. The middle flap encased between a top and bottom door means it can withstand more impact than most single game case designs, because it's thicker. So of all the DS protective cases out there right now, I believe this particular one is the most durable. Hori offers a few translucent colors to suit your tastes. Clear white is of course the easiest to see through.

*HORI vs A.L.S....HELPING YOU DECIDE WHICH IS GOING TO BE RIGHT FOR YOU*
Is the Hori product the best you can do for DS travel protection? Will it be the right choice? That's all a matter of how you look at it in general. If you want to squeeze the most out of your money for a very quality product, then ALS industries offers a solution that may better suit you. Nintendo DS Lite Game Card Case

They offer a similar compact design that features all of the qualities the Hori game case offers except that each case is single layered. Although the ALS game case will only hold 3 DS game cards as opposed to 6, they offer 3 protective cases in a bundle package. Hori is only offering a single case. They both retail at the same exact price point too. The difference is that ALS allows you to store 9 games in total, as opposed to the 6 in the Hori product. Both ALS and Hori offer thick plastic builds and translucent see through cases, but only Hori offers multiple colors to choose from. Hori's DS cases migt be just a little bit more durable due to it's thicker build, but just a smidgen. You must ultimately decide on weather you want more DS game storage for the same price, or the unique design feature Hori offers. In the end, both products are very nice and both offer quality protection and travel convenience.

This is the best game case I have found yet for storing my DS games. I have bought some where they fall out the minute you open the case. This one allows you to see the game titles, yet holds them securely. Good buy.
The Ninetendo DS Game Card Case holds 6 games all together in a convenient size. It makes it easier to carry my crosswords in my handbag.
Product came quick and in good condition.

This holds 6 DS games. It's sturdy and easy to open. I bought a pink one for my daughter, and black one for my son. Will definitely buy more when we fill these up.
When I am traveling I like to carry the DS and the games in my purse. Being able to carry 6 in this compact case is perfect. I'm thinking about getting another one.
Protect your games from dust and scratches with this Nintendo DS Game Card Case. It compactly stores up to 6 DS Game cards.

(Very Fun...)

(Great Game!)

(Good for younger girls)

(great game)

(9 year-old girl's opinion)
This game was very fun for me,15. It was fun but i completed it in about 2 days... not long at all. I loved designing the clothes. I recommend buying this item, but i think that this game is more of a 13 and under game.
My daughter, 11, LOVES this game! So do I ! It's challenging and fun! The graphics are good and the assignments given range from easy to really challenging. Really holds her interest. The "Imagine" games are fun learning games. I look forward to getting her the "Imagine - Teacher" game.
If you want a video game for a girl under 13 then this one is it. It took me (I'm 29) about 3 hours to complete the whole game (the "Blue" Challenge took me forever!!) but I imagine a younger girl will be entertained with this for much longer. If you have a girl older than 13 then you might want to get her something a little more challenging, unless all she wants to do is design clothes instead of complete missions. The patterns the game comes loaded with are kind of ugly so I mainly stuck to the plain colors. I wish there was more of a sweater collection and more jewelry than just necklaces. Over all, I think this is a good game for young girls and I'd recommend it.
This game is fun. The japanese shots are a little hard though. The graphics are also a little grainy. If your daaughter is in to designing and stuff, this is your game
I really liked this game because it gives you the chance to show how you feel about fashion. I recommend it for young teenagers who like fashion and might want to be a designer or model when they grow up. Before you can start a collection, you have to pass tests to unlock all the stations. Then you can start a collection. I hope you enjoy this game if you get it because I enjoyed it very much.
Imagine Fashion Designer invites players to become hip Manhattan designers handling all aspects of the fashion business, from creating their own line of clothing to directing photo shoots. Online gameplay allows players to share their designs and ideas with friends and fellow aspiring young fashionistas.

(Personal Favorite!)

(super collapse 3)

(Just like the online version, but taken a step further...!)

(It's fun...but irritating.. and eventually boring.)

(Challenging and still fun after playing it on the PC!)
Love it! This game has not seen the light of day since I put it in the DS when it first got here several weeks ago! In fact, I've had to buy new screen protectors because I was wearing out the old ones!
The game was exactly what they said it would be. Some people love it, others don't get too excited by it. If your a Tetris person, this game is right up your alley.
Super Collapse 3, for the most part, is just like the original online time-eater, but a little bit more, and a little bit better. They've taken the original premise a couple steps further by adding a couple of different types of game-play, but they also leave this gem unaltered for 'quick-play mode'. The DS's touch-screen controls are a much more efficient user interface (expect to increase your level-advancement by 50% by NOT using a mouse) even though the playfield is notably smaller than a 'standard' PC monitor. Ignore whatever trepidations you might have&give it a try; the only thing you have to lose is free-time... :D
--Warning: HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!--

I thought this game would be more like Tetris - meaning, it would be engaging and challenging and keep me interested for a long time. But after a while it just gets boring and frustrating. The goal is to clear the board by touching (with the stylus) 3 adjoining blocks of the same color which makes them disappear. To complicate things, more and more blocks appear from the bottom or top at varying speeds. To help, you can buy tools to blow up different blocks and slow down time and mix up the screen. But after a while it becomes monotonous and SO irritating! When a new level started and I saw the goal was to eliminate 300 rows of blocks I was ready to throw the thing through the window! At various times, you win coins that let you buy your way out of levels that you were unable (or unwilling) to solve so I just kept playing a particular puzzle that, when solved, paid out 500 coins. I played it over and over again until I earned 10,000 coins and then just bought my way through the game (Typical American - right?). They really tried to make the game fun with cute sound effects and fun music and clever gimmicks but for me, it just didn't catch on.
I have been an avid Collapse fan for years...often used as a stress reliever from a hectic day - even though playing it at the higher levels still gets my heart rate up. This handheld game does not disappoint me at all, even though others that played the PC game have said so. You cannot take a laptop/desktop to the doctor's office and the laptop is often cumbersome while traveling. So the answer is the Nintendo DS Lite version. After playing it again (got bored with my PC version) with the DS Lite, I find that I enjoy the newer challenges and it has really helped with visual reaction...that being said, I highly recommend it to those wanting to keep their brains fresh/active since the Flash Focus game and the Brain Age/Challenge games are so popular.

So for passing the time in a fun way, enjoying the challenges (quite varied in this version), and to keep your eyesight fresh - this may be the game for you. For those that have never played Collapse, get this game and you may even want it for your PC too so you can play it anywhere.

(TWEWY, a suprise masterpiece!)

(Wow! A DS Home Run)

(great game)

(Excellent out of box and unique idea...)

(Incredibly good game)
After logging over a hundred hours of play time in The World Ends With You, it sometimes seems like the DS was designed for this game rather than the other way around. Some developers have a hard time utilizing the unique capabilities of the DS, the dual screen and touch pad are unusual tools and too often, are awkwardly implemented in a manner that makes the game more difficult to use.

TWEWY uses every feature of the DS that I'm aware of with the exception of the WiFi internet connection. The dual screens are used to show two halves of a single combat and each are controlled with their own methods. The top screen is controlled with the direction keys (but can go on autopilot if you're having trouble keeping up) and the bottom screen uses the stylus in a wide variety of patterns.

The plot and characters are great as well. The protagonist seems like an unlikeable jerk at first but it soon becomes clear that his personality is intentional, the title of the game actually is a reference to his view of the world at the beginning of the game.

New franchises are becoming rarer and rarer these days, Square took a huge gamble by publishing a game with unusual mechanics and an unfamiliar setting. TWEWY is one game that I look forward to having a sequel.

I admit it--it's taken me several months to finish this game. Not because it's particularly difficult, but as one reviewer before me referred to it, it's a complete "grind" game. The battle system is incredibly repetitive, despite its nifty "pin" concept which allows for different types of attacks. And you do a ton of tapping at the screen during these battles. So much so, I'd imagine the people on the bus probably thought I was a little weird being a professional-looking woman tapping ceaselessly at my little DS trying to slash at the evil kangaroos.

Ok, back to the game, though. I think this is a *great* game, considering its platform hasn't really been too shaken up by a lot of other high-caliber titles. It's a game that Square Enix definitely put the work in and for this reason, it stands out among other DS games currently on the market.

I'm a story-player, in the sense that I play RPGs chiefly for their story value. TWEWY's story is innovative and unique, appropriate for almost all ages about friendship and loyalty, which is definitely the reason I'm giving it five stars. I found the story very thought-provoking, which is a rarity today in RPGS.

But if you are considering buying this for your children, I have two mild warnings you might want to consider: First, there are a few mild bad words used throughout the game. And second, the story is based in the afterlife and thus, discusses at length the death of quite a few very young characters. It's not a "light" game in any sense as death is the central theme of the story.

One of the most original DS games to come along in a while. Great fun, this is the kind of game the DS was designed for.
I don't normally take the time to review products but this is one great game. The design, music, storyline, use of the touch screen, and tutorial are all excellent and I love this gem. Sometimes with the DS you get weird or awkward controls (Call of Duty 4) or kinda boring and run of the mill RPG experiences (Pokemon Blue) but this is different and better and I will play this one over and over. Easy recommend for anyone worried about dropping $30 on a new RPG storyline/world.
Wow, I was not expecting too much, but this is hands down one of the best games ever made, and probably the best I've encountered on the DS. I've never seen a game with such attention to detail. Not only is the gameplay engaging and innovative, and the story engros
