(Viva La Pinata)
(Not Disappointed At All!) Since I am in transit from one place or another, and often am looking for something to occupy my time during those times, I picked up Viva Pinata:Pocket Paradise on the urging of my brother, who plays the XBox version.
I am not disappointed! It is a very interactive game and it keeps you thinking every step of the way. It reminds me of Sims2 in that you have to be very diligent in caring for your pinatas. So anyone who is a hardcore Simmie will take to this game well.
The only disappointment is that the sounds (apart from the opening intro) are very low - so if you are somewhere noisy, you won't hear some of the warning sounds from the game (like when a Ruffian is messing up your garden).
Other than that, I am very happy with it!
First off, I have to say WOW!
It is incredible how much fidelity to the original game there is. The big difference in graphics besides the obvious De-Rezing required to get this title on the DS is that you have only the front isometric view. This view can not be spun around, so sometimes it can be difficult to see pinatas around trees. However, I did not realize I was missing this feature till I was a few hours into the game. So, to me, it was not a big deal.
What you do get is the ability to play this game anywhere and not tethered to the TV. For me, that was big. You can play in little increments. Close the lid and the DS pauses the game. Open the lid and pick up later right where you left off.
The other feature that is a big improvement is the touch screen funtionality. Being able to quickly manuver through your garden and select your tools quickly kept this game from being tedious.
Unlike the 360 version, there is no silly maze to navigate when your pinatas romance. This really sped the game up. I am very happy to see that go since it used to drive me nuts.
If you have a collector type personality and enjoyed that aspect in games like Pokemon, this game is for you. I loved attacting new pinatas to my garden. Growing plants and trees. Getting Pinatas to change and evolve. It's just great fun.
I would reccomend this to anyone who liked Pokemon, Animal crossing, or Harvest moon First I want to say that the graphics on this game are so amazing! Bright beautiful colors. It really brings out the best of Viva Pinata on XBox 360. The graphics of course won't be EXACTLY like the 360 version, but they are great for Nintendo DS. Right up there with the graphics on Animal Crossing.
When you first start the game there is a tutorial. I was very happy with this, because it wasn't as long as the one on 360. The 360 instructions seemed to go on forever. This was very easy and quick, and everything is easy to understand, easy to control.
You still get the basic tools like the shovel (Tap, Whack, and Make Dirt), watering can, and grass packet. Planting the seeds are the same as on 360. Get a seed from Seedos or at the store, decide where you want it, press the Plant button. Water it, and be sure you don't OVER water it or they will die.
In this game there are garden personalities. Which just means you will see a funny episode every now and then, and it is to bring excitement and entertainment into the game. The episodes are set up just like the Viva Pinata series on TV.
Game Modes:
Garden-This will be your main garden, and basically the game. Be a gardener and Pinata raiser to attract new residents. Try to aim towards 100% completion or make your own personal garden goals.
Episodes-Allows you to play any Episode that you've unlocked. New Episodes will become available as you make progress in the main garden, and playing through Episodes will grant you knowledge of more advanced techniques and tactics.
Playground-As the name suggests, this is the quick and easy way to create a temporary garden where everything is free. Use it to experiment, test your ideas and practice strategies for improving your real garden.
The Game Screen: You will have an events window telling you all the happenings of your garden, Requirements and Terrain Info (which gives you a percent on how much grass, dirt, etc. that you have.), Overhead Map, Clock and Experience Gauge, Gardener level and Game experience, Tool Icon, Switch Screen Icon, Shop Icons, and Scroll Screen Icon.
As in the 360 version you will still get the Alerts that will keep you informed on everything going on in the garden. Touch the Icon and it will show you on the map where the event is taking place, and take you directly to it.
Shovel and Watering Can will still be upgraded.
To get Pinatas to your garden you have to attract them. For instance, a worm will attract a Sparrowmint (Bird) into the garden. Fruits, veggies, seeds will also attract certain pinatas. When you have a visitor, see what it's requirements are to become a resident. Fill those requirements and you have a new friend.
You will also get more garden space when you level up. The more you romance your pinatas, become experienced in gardening, you will get more space to do this all with.
Each pinata will want it's own type of house. Houses provide safety and happiness, and also allow you to romance your pinatas. You have to romance to move up in the game. Have more than one of the same type of Pinata? Then it is time to build a house for them.
For a pinata to romance you have to meet the requirements. Some pinatas might need to eat certain things before they are able to romance. It is easy to just take a quick look and see what you need to do to begin the process. Every pinata is different.
Sell all the seeds you grow! This will help you to get more money. There are two stores: The General Store and the Building Store.
Candy: Broken Pinatas produce candy, and when other pinatas eat this candy they become happy. Sour Candy is spread and left in your garden by the sour pinatas, if eaten it can make a pinata sick and then you will have to call the doctor. Romance Candy allows you to skip the romancing requirements process and go straight to the egg.
The trouble you might see in your garden: Sour Pinatas that cause nothing but trouble, Fights between pinatas, Ruffians who are there to destroy your garden, and Weeds that try to kill your garden plants.
Trading: The in-game post office opens when you reach a certain level. Through it you can trade seeds, plants, and Pinatas (including accessorized ones) with friends over the Nintendo DS WI-FI communications process. Follow on screen instructions that show you how to send and receive crates. You can only have one crate at a time in your garden.
Success is measured on how valuable your garden is. Everything you put in your garden, your pinatas, plants. Make your garden as valuable as possible to achieve your goals in this game.
Overall, this game is a wonderful game! There is so much to do in it, so much to learn. Fascinating, exciting, addictive, and holds your attention. SO FUN!

(Great for my 5-year-old son)
("Ben" There, Done That)
(Ben 10 Nintendo DS Game)
(Great Game) i got this game for my son he like it so much that in two days he was done with all levels! and he's just 7 yrs old! i recomend this game to entretain the kids for a few hrs, it was fun and nice to watch my son having so much fun ! I purchased the same game for my 5-year-old son for Wii before. Now he can also enjoy it everywhere, not just in the house! Hey, look !
It's the "Ben 10: Protector of Earth" video game I and some of you Ben fans have been waiting for !
Ben Tennyson and his adventures go to the next level when Ben's Omnitrix gets busted up with all its alien powers within it. Now Ben is totally going cross-country with Gwen and Grandpa Max in order to get the watch fixed AND save the world from utter destruction.
That's where you come in. Take control of Ben and his awesome alien heroes as you defeat the bad guys using some killer combo moves each alien possesses. I, however, am surprised the only available aliens this game has to offer are Four Arms, Heatblast, XLR8, Cannonbolt and Wildvine. Why not Diamondhead ? Or Wildmutt ? Ah, whatever; those creatures still have some great moves if you know how to work each combo.
With vast levels that capture some great American landmarks and incredible boss challenges against the likes of the Forever Knights, Kevin 11, and Vilgax, you'll definitely be having a blast playing this game. And while you're at it, look around each level for hidden "Sumo Slammer" cards. They will earn you some great bonus features and such.
Also, more than one player can play in either Battle or Two-player Co-op modes in this game. (In the Co-op mode, you and your teammate can unleash a special move together !)
So get set for the greatest road trip any 10-year-old kid would ever dream of... again ! (That is, if you've been watching the hit TV series.) And keep your eyes peeled for brand-new episodes of the new "Ben 10 Alien Force" ! I brought this game for my son and he loves it. It's an easy game for him to play and he advances quickly to a new level which makes him want to play it more. I highly recommend this game. We saw this game onthe computer and it looked really good. My daughter has wanted it for awhile now. She was not diappointed. She liked this game alot. Take on the role of Cartoon Network's popular everyday-kid-turned-alien-hero, Ben Tennyson. At first glance, 10-year-old Ben looks like your average, everyday kid, but upon closer inspection it's plain to see he's the world's youngest action hero stopping evildoers from Earth and space. Using the power of the Omnitrix which has embedded itself on Ben's wrist, you will be able to battle as one of five popular alien heroes from the show. By taking on these amazing powers, you can battle to save the world through the game's diverse challenges, puzzles and skirmishes. The evil Vilgax, with the help of Kevin 11 and the Forever Knights, has set in motion a plan to capture the Omnitrix and the world is in danger. Ben 10: Protector of Earth is an exciting game full of familiar characters on a quest to stop Vilgax and save the day. Rerations < Ben 10 Protector of the Earth >

(Super Mario 64 DS is pretty cool.)
(crap)
(This game is pretty cool. . .it has lots of 3 dimensions)
(A kid reveiw.) This is the first 3D Super Mario Game that was originally released for the Nintendo 64. The game is now released for the DS. Like other Mario games, it is still so much fun. Considered as one of the finest 3d platform video games made (that led to Super Mario Galaxy), it is a must have for your DS video game collection.
There are four playable characters (Yoshi, Mario, Luigi&Wario), more than two dozen mini-games, wireless multiplayer for four players (using a single cartridge). It may be a difficult game for much younger kids as the shift from 2 dimensional to 3D has added more complexities for movements and controls. I really liked this game. It's not horrible, it's pretty good. I would not say its easy for children under 7-9 under. But it's a really fun and medium hard game for people over 10.(At least) I like New Super Mario Bros. better, but this comes pretty close.
If you want or kind of want this game, get it. If you're just buying this as a random choice, don't get it.
=JT= this game is crap i had to get rid of this the controls are sluggish don't buy the ds version if u have an N64 get the original or download it if u have a wii just avoid this at all cost I am 11 years old so my dad is typing this in for me.
This game is pretty cool - not my favorite, but it is still pretty good.
I like the 3 dimensional graphics. I think it is the 2nd or 3rd best Mario game in the world.
Sam D. I bought this game because my cousin bought and it looked like a lot of fun!And it is!The game starts out easy but get harder as you go from level to level.Read the directions! It'll help a lot!!! This is really fun any one will love it!!! Super Mario 64 was a genre-defining classic. Now it arrives on the Nintendo DS with all-new features that take advantage of the new portable system's dual screens, touch screen and wireless features! Mario, Luigi and Wario are invited to a royal party for Princess Peach. When they arrive at the castle, it is strangely empty and the 3 of them try to learn what happened. When they disappear too, Yoshi must rescue them from their old enemy Bowser. Rerations < Super Mario 64 >

(A 10-year-old's review)
(Why must all the good games be killed)
(Pretty good game) Unfortunately the package sent by Amazon never made it out of the USPS package processing mill. Even though the tracking number provided indicated it was just a few miles away, it never made the complete journey. Amazon most graciously refunded me, so even though very disappointed, it wasn't a complete disaster. My one star rating really isn't appropriate but you have to enter something. Yoshis Island DS is the sequal to the original Yoshis Island. It is basically the same game but with some added stuff. You still have the same abilities like swallowing enemies, shooting eggs, ground pounding, jumping and fluttering, and if you touch an enemy the baby falls off and you have seconds to get it back.
In the first Yoshis Island baby mario was always with yoshi but now there are more including peach, DK, Wario, and Bowser. Each of the babies gives yoshi different abilities.
MARIO: Sprint PEACH: Hover Longer DK: Climbing vines, swinging, and a dash attack Wario: Attracts coins Bowser: Shoot Fire
I have only got to DK so far and the babies keep getting better as you go along.
If You liked the first Yoshis Island you will like this one even more. If you havent then you should definitley pick this one up. Is the sequel as good as the wonderful SNES game, Yoshi's Island, and its GBA remake? Here is my answer: no, but it's a great game. For one thing, a few of the levels seem almost identical to one another. I would have liked for something new to crop up on every single level, like the original. However, something very interesting does crop up: the babies Yoshi is carrying on his back. Collecting flowers, red coins, and star points has returned from the original. Also back are the ground pounding, stomping, jumping, and making and throwing eggs. If you get 100 coins, you get a 1-up (as always). Yoshi can also do a hover jump, as usual. You can slurp enemies up with your tongue, as well. It seems a lot has returned from the previous game. The adventure starts out with Baby Mario and Yoshi, but then Babies Peach, DK, Wario, and Bowser join Yoshi's team, each of them having different abilities. Peach can hover, Mario can dash and hit "M" blocks that are only visible to him, DK can swing across vines, Wario can attract metal with his magnet, and Bowser can breathe fire. The only problem is that some of the levels feel like you have to do the same thing over and over. I would still highly recommend this game. It is a very great game. Nintendo really needs to put more effort into its games. It is unacceptable for the name of great games such as yoshi's island to be put to shame by crappy sequels. Furthermore, I have not found a single ds game to be satisfactory. Please stop making horrid games Nintendo. * The graphics for this game are adorable. * It's an adventure with little action (Is that good or bad?). * Control of characters is challenging. * Very clever. * Good for 4 yr olds. Yoshi's Island is an all-new platformer starring Yoshi and his friends! A mysterious floating island has suddenly appeared over Yoshi's peaceful home. Soon after its arrival, a gaggle of kids vanishes from the island school. Thankfully, Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Baby Donkey Kong and Baby Wario manage to avoid being kidnapped. Now, Yoshi and the four young superstars must set out on a wild and colorful quest to rescue the kids and investigate the ominous island hovering overhead. Thanks to the power of Nintendo DS, all of the lush vistas and perilous paths of Yoshi's Island span two screens. Rerations < Yoshi's Island DS >

(Good game with annoying traits)
(Fun and Very Challenging)
(Beats Brain Age 1 and 2 handily)
(Great brain game) I downloaded this for my ipod. I like it, I play it right before bed. I felt that it was a bit too easy to reach 100% and when I did, nothing happened. I continue to do the tests just for fun and my score is always 100% now. It is weird because I feel I don't know if the game is "over". I figured that once one made it to that mark, a "new rank" would be achieved. I don't know. I would like it if the company and/ or game itself said "great job, smartie, go play something else now"... or "hey dummy, we tricked you. this goes up to 1000%". Maybe one is supposed to score all "A plusses" in all the training games/ levels to beat the game...? Aside from that, I like the game. It is even more fun to play not half asleep with one eye closed! I like it just as much as 'Big Brain Academy' on the Wii. I have never played 'Brain Age'. The game is better than Brain Age (IMO) due to the large variety of challenges that it presents. However, it has the following highly annoying traits:
- The alarms when the time is about to end: all this does for me is stress me out and makes me miss the last few questions. Running the DS on mute helps for sure.
- The theme music: I haven't found a way to turn this off. It keeps going on and on while one is browsing the menus. Running on mute helps here too.
- The sanctimonious advice: I don't need some animated dumb bell to tell me how to live my life. I (by necessity) practice late at night and the tiresome repetitive advice about my late bedtime really sucks.
- The animation at the start of the game: There seems to be no way to skip the game maker's stupid logo animation every frikking time one starts playing. This wastes about a minute *every* time - highly annoying. I fear that one day I might stab my stylus all the way through my DS due to this stupid trait.
You can see that the above annoyances are really ruining my enjoyment of this otherwise excellent game. I really enjoy the tests and the practice but the annoyances above are just infuriating. This game has different areas in which you can exercise you brain and measure your levels in areas such as logic, focus, memory, math. It's so much fun and some parts are downright tough. Of course, you get better as you go. I love Brain Age 1 and 2 and this as well. So I think if you're a Brain Age fan, you'll have fun with this. Also, I think this was way better than Big Brain Academy. However, my niece and nephew can play that one but not this one. Small children won't be able to do this. I have both Brain Age games and I have to say that Brain Challenge is a lot more fun and a lot more challening. I like that I can unlock a lot of different games, and that I can play them over and over again should I so choose. I actually enjoy playing these games, which really can't be said for Brain Age. The one thing Brain Age has that Brain Challenge doesn't and that I miss is Suduko, but really, big deal. It's not like Suduko can only be found on Brain Age games.
If you're looking of a something that will keep you engaged and continually be enjoyable, I'd totally go with this game. I love UBI game designers. This another great example of a fun and entertaining game. An entertaining brain training program, ?Brain Challenge? boosts brain activity and helps players develop stress-management skills thanks to a wide variety of games. A personal coach helps players develop their abilities in several areas of cognitive function, including logic, math, memory and visual thinking, in a fun and entertaining way.
