(We love this game...)
(Review of Shrek the Third)
(Granted that I haven't seen Shrek the Third) This is a typical animated movie-based video game. It has Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and the rest of the Shrek gang. Fun for a little while, but not enough to keep playing. This is a pretty fun game, however, I wouldn't want my kids playing it. Just like the movie, there is some adult humor. My kids are too young to understand it yet but I do not want them running around saying it. We love this game. We first rented it from Blockbuster because the reviews weren't good, but we ended up purchasing it the next week. I love the way it switches characters. My six year old can do it, but it is still fun for adults as well. I would definitely purchase this game again. This was a Christmas gift for my Grandson. It was shipped very quickly to his address. I'n not sure if this game follows the plot of the 3rd installment of Shrek, but wow is it violent! It starts off with Shrek and the cat (Puss in Boots?) beating up various baddies and collecting beer steins/coins. I'm not real sure where it goes after that because my 8 year old niece lost interest due to difficulties opening a drawbridge style door. Obviously she is not a video-gamer! So I took the helm for about ten minutes to see if I could open the elusive gate. I had no luck opening it and we returned (banished) the game to the video store from wince it came! If you are looking for a game that will appease the youngster in your house I would go with Super Mario Galaxy, which is a much more "kid friendly" game. Mario is much easier to control and the violence is more "cartoony". Also the vibrant colors and cute characters in Super Mario Galaxy will make you and your children giddy! Shrek the Third takes you into a new adventure with Shrek and friends - go into the movie and go beyond it as you fight to save Far, Far Away. After Prince Charming storms the city with an army of villains to seize the throne, Shrek's on the run with Donkey, Puss-in-Boots, Fiona, Fiona's rebellious cousin Arthur and her friend Sleeping Beauty. The game takes players on an epic journey through the worlds of Far Far Away, as they rescue pals, face off against Charming's henchmen, gather collectibles&test their gaming skills. (Chocobo Dungeon is an Old-School Final Fantasy RPG Experience)
(A game with many problem)
(Fun game with great gameplay)
(Ah, voice acting...) best gamplay i've seen in a while. fun and addicting. Only wish it was longer BUT was surprised with all the extra gameplay after beating it. I am a huge fan of Square and of the Final Fantasy franchise as it appeared once upon a time on the NES and SNES systems. I didn't really set out to do so, but due to issues of price and durability I've become something of a Nintendo Loyalist. When the Final Fantasy series moved to other consoles, I was left behind.
When the GameCube got "Crystal Chronicles" I was extremely excited. But, the game didn't recreate a "Final Fantasy" type experience for me. It was pretty. It had its merits. But, it wasn't "Final Fantasy." (It should have been produced/promoted as a "Secret of Mana" game instead.)
"Chocobo's Dungeon" succeeds where "Crystal Chronicles" failed. At least for me ... this "feels" like a Final Fantasy game. "Chocobo's Dungeon" is a "dungeon crawler" much as the classic SNES Final Fantasy games were. It is turn based as those games were. The classes, abilities, powers and spells all carry the familiar "Final Fantasy" feel.
So much of this game seems to be intended to capture and embrace the nostalgia of classic "Final Fantasy" from the story line to the fantastic musical scores that are all reworkings of selections from past games. This is, in my opinion, the first "Final Fantasy" game to appear on a Nintendo console since Final Fantasy III (VI).
The "cute" graphics are no more intrusive upon the story line or game play than the primitive 16 bit pixel images of the SNES era ... truth be told, those were every bit as "kiddie" in appearance, but they took nothing from the game. The same is true of "Chocobo's Dungeon." If making a game that "appears" to be intended for a young audience is the only way to get a "Final Fantasy" game on a Nintendo platform, then I won't resist. A good game is a good game.
"Chocobo's Dungeon" is a good game. It's also a true addition to the franchise for "Final Fantasy" fans. I can't recommend it highly enough.
pro- $40 for a brand new game that it i guess
Con- They reuse all of the music from every final fantasy game, which the music isn't bad. They just didn't use at the right moment. -Job class, all of the ability look the same, it didn't feel like each job feel different from each other. -The game have like 5 stages ( memory state, fire stage, water stage, light stage, and dark stage ), and all the stage look the same. -Voice actor was bad, the first 10 mins of the game made me quit the game for like a week, then i went back on to finish the game. -They don't have muti player unlike the ps1, which is really fun -The dungeon don't even feel like a dungeon -Story was awful -Boss look terrible, and they don't require skill to defeat -Card game make no sense -Secret ending, chocobo seem like he was on something, he maybe have ate too much ghysal green -I don't know why but japanese rpg seem to have guy with no shirt these day ( last boss of the game ), for example final fantasy 12 -Battle, most of the time, you will mostly fight them in a straight line -No effect for the weapon( no fire come out of the weapon when chocobo kick, unlike the ps1 game) -Two fishing spot - I couldn't believe i wasted my time for this game, i actually wait for this game, trust me i love the chocobo series game
This is why this game cost 40 bucks, and not 59.99 or not even 50 bucks Another bad game from square enix, even chocobo racing is better than this game. You pay for what you get....TASTE MY CHOCOBO KICK
Pros: +Online card battling +Great dungeon exploring fun +Ability to do different classes (Knight, Black Mage, etc) +Nice, captivating story +$40 price +Game lasts a long time and is enjoyable +Fish by tieing a line onto a back tail feather +Different Moogle personalities were enjoyable
Cons: -Graphics are blurry sometimes -Character voices don't line up with mouths sometimes
This is a very small review for that niche of picky gamers that take issue easily with bad localization and dubbing. The two previous reviews do a perfectly good job of explaining the game.
1. No language swap. Sadly for die-hard fans of original voice tracks from Square games, this is another which does not include the option to switch languages.
2. There is no option to turn off the voices. If the above didn't scare you off buying the NA version, this might. There isn't even a volume control for voice or music.
So, if the above didn't scare you off from purchasing the NA release and send you running to grab the JP release from your local importer, here's the scoop on the American VA talent: If you found yourself tolerant of the acting in FFX, extremely pleased with it FFXII, and appreciative of Disney's VA talent in Kingdom Hearts, you may very well be able to enjoy Chocobo. Chocobo is similar in "look and feel" to Kingdom Hearts, but where Kingdom Hearts' acting is more all-ages friendly (much in the way some of the better Disney films have been,) Chocobo's VA staff takes the direction of, well, Blue's Clues. The VA talent sounds like they were stolen from Nickelodeon's recording studio--and in some cases a few people sound like they were plucked off the street. The lines are delivered very slowly, and often in a comforting tone. Mind you, it's not bad, but it's for young, young children! At it's worst it sounds like they used someone's theater school dropout niece or nephew to fill the role. I'm guessing the marketing idea was that too many red-blooded American gamers (like myself) would slip into a diabetic coma just looking at this sugary-sweet title, so they geared all their efforts towards making it a game for families with young children.
That all being said, I'm still playing it in English, having fun, but seriously thinking about grabbing the Japanese copy as well. Half the lines that should come off as sweet or whimsical just sound sarcastic or forced.
Seriously Square, don't drop the ball after the execellent job with FFXII. We do care about acting and translation, especially since a large chunk of your fanbase is now grown-up... with adult salaries to blow as well. Rerations < Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon >

(Fun game, Loading is a little slow, Instructions could give alot more details.) This game is a real stinker! Holy cow, I couldn't wait to get my review out so more people don't waste their money. You start the hunt session and you instantly start shooting. The controls are bad though so you won't really hit much. I thought it was supposed to be mainly hunting deer; nope, you harvest more birds than anything. This is NOT a good representation of the hunting experience so don't bother.
Awful!!!!! Pretty good game. I think the price of $39 is a little high should be around $25.
I play the game with the Wii zapper and it is a little frustrating that to select thing you have to push A when it would be better to use the B button to do this.
It is a little slow to start and in between hunts while it loads. During the game it is fine.
Instructions could be more helpful. Don't be afraid to be switching guns and gear through out the hunts. Test all the buttons on the nunchuck, too.
Experience fast paced hunting action in pursuit of trophy bucks in 24 states and provinces across North America. Cabela's Trophy Bucks starts you at the most critical and exciting part of each mission where you will be immediately presented with a challenge. You will hunt 11 species of trophy deer including Whitetail, Rocky Mountain Mule Deer, Sitka, Desert Mule Deer, Columbian Black Tail and more. customer 's review (My 4&6 year old love it!)
(well worth the price)
(Electrifying)
(Awesome game!)
(Fun for young and old alike) We did research on this game, and found many "professional" gamers dislike for the simplicity. Let me tell you that for $[...] this game is a steal. My two boys play it all the time, and jump around while steering their skateboard, and trying tricks that no human could ever pull off or survive from. Some of the background music choices aren't my favorites by any stretch of the imagination, but if you can get over that then this game is great for young gamers. Toys R Us was selling this game for $[...] this past fall. Granted I got this during a gold deal...but it is a great game even at regular price. Good graphics. It was a little tricky to master at first, as there are a number of special moves you have to do to get lots of points. However once you learn them it is fantastic. Highly recommended! I bought this game for my grandson's birthday. He is crazy about it. My grandson is 4 yrs old. I bought this for my son, who is almost 7. The game says ages 10 and up, but he picked up on it right away. He loves it, and has been playing it ALOT since we got it. My 37 year old husband loves it nearly as much! There are even a few girl skaters to select, which I've played with. The graphics aren't as good as other game systems, I think that's the general for Wii overall. Wii makes up for it with the interaction you get in these games. This game is alot of fun! It's very realistic. My 5-year old is obsessed with the Hawkman, and so this was one of our first games for the Wii. I was a bit nervous because I've found past Tony Hawk games tricky for me, let alone for him, to master.
Imagine my delight when we started playing this. It's just outright fun: the characters are funny, the maps are cool with lots of different paths and shortcuts, the music is pretty sweet, and the gameplay is downright addictive. And best of all, my son picked it up lickety split. Heck, it's taken months of playing it before I've managed to get half as good as him at the trick courses!
It's the simplicity of the controls that makes this a perfect game when you don't want to cramp your hands or brain trying to remember some convoluted button sequence to do JUST the right move in JUST the right place at JUST the right time. And the difficulty ramps up perfectly, opening up courses of increasing difficulty and length as you go.
I've read some lousy reviews of this from magazines and critics. Glad to see some real-world players giving this game the props it deserves. Bring on Downhill Jam 2! In Tony Hawk Downhill Jam, you'll make the sparks, gravel and dust fly as you shred downhill and feel the adrenaline rush. Do whatever it takes to get ahead: Speed down crowded, interactive streets as you pull off high-velocity tricks and fight opponents in living, populated environments. The online gameplay for up to 4 people makes it even more challenging. It's the wildest Tony Hawk game yet! (works great, quality connection)
(Good Cable, Good Price)
(defective cable. no customer service)
(Good Cable for the price) this thing is so cheap and it makes the picture better, you'd really be nutty not to get it.
this product is working just fine, and the picture quality is a noticeable difference from the standard A/V cables that the Wii comes with. This product works as expected. All connectors appear to be of reasonable quality and the price is pretty good.
The colors are noticeably brighter on my Wii using this cable. This cable is defective. It periodically stops working. I need to jiggle the connection to the Wii. The standard AV cable that came with the Wii works fine. I sent an inquiry to Bargaincell via Amazon Marketplace over a week ago, and have received no reply. It is no bargain! Well, for the price I got this (about $6 with shipping), this cable is well worth it. I'm currently using this on my Standard TV at the moment and I can notice a difference. I have not yet hooked it up to my HD tv, but will do so soon. If it makes a difference on a standard TV, the HD difference should be much better.
With this cable, the colors seem brighter and clearer. For the price of this cable, it's worth the risk to try for yourself. You won't be dissappointed. I think you can see screen shots on GameSpot which will show the difference between the standard cable and the HD cables. Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Fun, very easy to play, but buggy) rented this&played it for about 90 min. from BlockBstr. (I'm so glad blockbstr&gamefly exist for renting!) The videos were fine, the voice overs weren't bad at all. The voice overs were done well, the videos cute. The menu is simple, you choose a character like Fiona or even one of the babies&you are stuck with them unless you delete/make a new profile. There is multi player. You go to different 5 different sections&a 6th is locked. Each section has about 5 games&2 or 3 which are locked. To unlock them, you have to get 1st place, or at least 2nd place after 2-3 attempts. If a game doens't unlock another game, it will unlock more videos or conception art. The game seems to skewed towards letting the player win over the A.I. The games are cute&colorful, several games have shooting by targeting&then flick of the wrist as well as a lot of running (pumping the nunchuck&remote) or even just pumping the nunchuck or wii remote in a game to get power such as hammer throw. (Strength test to hit bell in normal carnival.) My arms got tired from pumping&with the presentation, cuteness, etc. I really liked it. EXCEPT, this game is buggy. In the hoopla something which is a javelin throw, you run&then using wii remote turning you guide it through flaming hoops as it sails to a picture of prince charming. playing as baby of Shrek, I couldn't win after several attempts to unlock another game. when I played at fiona, I had no problem guiding it&the movement registering. the hammer throw my arms just got tired&couldn't get the power meter up. in a tricycle around a track, I couldn't steer, though luckily you can't fall off&I won easily anyhow. In climbing Rapunzel's hair, I had no trouble moving with baby, but Fiona wouldn't respond until I clicked several times, though won anyhow both times. the last thing was hitting wooden dwarves w/melons as bowling. normally the simple picture movement directions&text instructions worked&easy to understand (except above I had issues with), but that game I couldn't do more then a very weak throw. when I was back at the menu, I lost the pointer/IR totally. thinking a fluke, the next game which was more shooting&targeting did not work at all. I went to a game I played before flawlessly&that game suddenly didn't register. I restarted the wii 2x&it still would not work. I put in ghost squad a on rails shooter game&that worked flawlessly. this game would be great for kids, it's amusing, but with the bugs, I suggest renting it. The twisted fairytale humor of Shrek meets the fun of the renaissance midway in Shrek's Carnival Craze. This game includes 28 hilarious carnival mini-games. (Fun for all)
(A lot of fun)
(Brightly colored spandex optional.)
(Great game. Controller issues aren't if you pay attention and practice.) Marvel:Ultimate Alliance is a truly well designed game. It features many of your favorite super heroes and has a great storyline. I like that you can create your own team of four from more than 21 playable characters. A little into the game you can either stick with the team you have or put together a team with certain combinations that have bonuses. If you pick a team that does not form a special combination then you can create your own team name and avatar and it will add a general bonus. Some combinations are femme fatale, with all females, there is the Avengers, X-men, and Fantastic four as well. There are many combinations that provide great team bonuses. I thought the controls on the other systems were easier, but once i got the hang of it, the wii controls become more satisfying. Never before have we had an rpg game with superheros that is so appealing. The x-men rpg was good, while the dc heroes ones like justice league were not. No other superhero game is more satisfying than Ultimate Alliance. I strongly recommend this game on any system, including the wii. One thing to note each system has a slight variation of characters. So each system features a slightly unique experience. I would check to see which system has the compliment of characters that you like the most. Also i thought replay value was good. Yes the game is scripted, but still very satisfying. I usually hate scripted games, but this is different. Replay is good for two reasons. You can try out countless combinations of teams, with their own unique abilities, and the gameplay is fun even on the second or third time. Secondly there is another feature; throughout the game you can collect comic missions to play. Each mission is a solo mission by the character in question and usually has historical significance. There are at lest 40 missions to play, and you even can play using some villians. I felt that the comic missions were ok, but not as good as the rest of the game. you just seem to fight a bunch of common enemies over and over and that gets old. just common soldiers in different uniforms. yes there is a boss in the end, but it just is not all that satisfying, Still there is replay value. I think that the future holds even better games then Marvel:Ultimate Alliance, but for now this is as good as it gets. Being a mom of girls, action packed video games never made it to our home, but now since I have 2 son-in-laws and 3 grandsons, I decided to get this game for the guys. All I can say is they all love it, from my 5 yr. old grandson, my 2 son-in-laws 2 |
