(I love it!)

(innovative controls for hack and slash)

(Solid. Not *****, but solid.)

(Excellent RPG, sloppy controls)

(It was worth it.)
Firstly, I admit it, I am an RPG "geek" this love affair goes back to the first US release of Final Fantasy in my case. The Wii game interface takes it to a whole new level! I can't WAIT for "Square" to do some more stuff for this console! Grace and Peace!
This is a game which actually tries to do something new and innovative and succeeds resulting in a new roleplay experience and excellent replay potential if one is interested in getting better scores and/or equipment.
I enjoyed the Dragon series back in its heyday (Dragon Warrior 1 and 2- to me 3 and 4 got a little too crazy)

I have no time whatsoever logged on the games between DWIV and this release for the Wii.

I will say that this is almost a 3-D version of the original dragon warrior, with a few alterations- namely not being able to free roam, and only having the one town (and castle) (at least thus far..)

This game is a lot of fun, and some of the old school monsters come back- slimes, drakees etc..and some new ones (at least to me) - and being able to swing the "sword" and raise the "shield" is a cool feature to have.
I have noticed a lack in monster variety- maybe only 15-20 or so (and im in what i think is the last (or next to last) level)

Anyways, it will not have anywhere near the playability of DW of the past, but for what it is, i paid $15 for a used copy. well worth the money. once ya beat it, it probably collects dust, but its kind of a new-age blast from the past..

Being absolutley thrilled that I felt like I finally bought the Wii for something other than my kids playing wii sports, I ran to the local game crazy the day Dragon Quest Swords came out. I was not disapointed. I am a die hard RPG fan of the old school persuasion (FF VI and DQVII are my favs)and found this game very entertaining. All of the usual DQ themes and characters are there and the european dialects are abundant as well. The story is good and the graphics are very clean. There are plenty of equipment options and a few mini games and of course there are secret dungeons. Now the cons : The sword is really irritating even after you get used to it. It slashes diagonally when you slash side to side etc.It is a short game, but no shorter than Final Fantasy III for the DS.You can only use one other character other than yorself at a time but you get used to that after a little bit and it is actually ok. I guess I'd give this a 4 1/2 stars but the controller issue is so frustrating that I have to give it a 4. Overall this is a fun game and if you are a fan of the series it is a must have. I hope that square will keep trying this !
PROS: Great game overall. Unique game play and easy to play.

CONS: Too short. Just like any other Square-Enix game, some grinding will be required in order to acquire more powerful items.

Five years have passed since the defeat of the Deathbringer, and the kingdom of Avalonia joyously celebrates what seems to be an everlasting era of peace. However, a closer look reveals that things are amiss. Calamity arises within the kingdom, as unfamiliar and powerful monsters invade the outskirts of the town. With the Deathbringer gone, what explanation is there for the onset of these monsters? And what of the queen, who has come to hide her face behind a strange mask? Make your way through the perilous journey, solve the baffling mysteries and return order to Avalonia.

(Best Wii Game for the Price!)

(My son loves this game but...)

(Only if you plan to build your own levels ...)

(Katamari Juggling in Space!)

(If It Ain't Broke... Don't Fix It)
I love this game! It's pretty hard to get anywhere at first, but it's such a blast that doesn't matter. Very ridiculous in terms of what your ship looks like after collecting a bunch of junk- I was laughing at mine all through the game. Very fun. Very challenging. Very low price. Very high satisfaction and replay value. Overall one of my favorite games for the Wii.
My son loves this game, but it locks up periodically. Does anyone else have this problem? Or perhaps we received a defective one?
I didn't know much about this game going in, but I'd heard good things about it and decided to pick it up because Best Buy was practically giving it away. As of this writing (7/30/08), they're selling it in stores for half the price that Amazon has it listed.

I will say this about the game.. it has a pretty extensive level editor where you can design everything from the ships to the bullets to the enemies, and everything in between. Not only can you design your own levels, but you can also trade with people or download from others.

The problem is, that's about the only thing this game has going for it, because the gameply is pretty sub-par. The horizontal shooting genre has been done to death, and the ability to collect fallen enemies and add them to your ship is a novelty that wears off pretty quickly. But hey, don't take my word for it... do a search for this game on Youtube and see if the videos do anything for you.

My recommendation: if you like the idea of building your own stuff, you're probably going to get a lot of mileage out of it. Otherwise, I wouldn't pay more than 10 dollars for this. As for me, I am a casual gamer who doesn't play a lot, so even if I didn't have games on the shelf I haven't finished yet that are a lot more fun than this, it is doubtful I would take the time required in the editor to actually build something interesting.

Blast Works is a simple shooter (aim right, blast everything, dodge bullets) but with a strategic twist. Enemy weapons, missiles, even enemy ships can be added to your ship on the fly. As your fighter shoots them down, you can swoop in and touch those same ships and they stick like glue to your ship. Their weapons keep on firing, often in random directions, but some have homing missiles or simply shoot forward. And as such, your ship gets bigger and bigger with more and more firepower.

At the core is your very small fighter, but when you pick up debris a shield is built around your ship. Meanwhile, bullets from enemies can blast off newly aquired parts, so you're constantly juggling your ever changing inventory of shields and weapons. All this with just one controller button. No inventory screens to sift through, no pausing to make changes, it just sticks and shoots.

It's very satisfying blowing a giant cannon off of an enemy boss ship, only to mount it on the front of your ship and finish them off with it.

The gameplay is very simple, but fun. As with many space shooters, the difficulty ramps up quickly as you find yourself facing a screen full of bullets by only the second level, as such inexperienced gamers beware.

Easy to play, but with lots of depth for ongoing play value. And you can trade ships with friends via a massive create mode! Great budget game, but I find the $40 price tag a bit much for casual gamers.

Blast Works is a game that, well, works. It's got high intense action like the arcade games of the 80's with a few extra twists thrown in there for good measure. It's a game that's simple to pick up and play but it actually manages to be challenging enough as well. The simplicity itself is probably why it's so good.

There's no real story to Blast Works but the concept is good. Take a simple arcade stylized game and vamp it up. You fly from one end of the level to the other, blowing up all the enemies that get in your way. Enemy ships usually clutter the screen, firing at you from almost everywhere. Precise movements are a must. As you destroy enemy ships, though, you can collect debris and fallen enemies to add to your ship. To the point where it takes up the whole screen. It can feel extremely cramped as a result, but you can retract it whenever you need to. Enemies can also destroy whatever it is you've collected and attached to your ship.

As you can imagine, the game isn't exactly long. It's very short as a matter of fact. That can make its price a little hard to swallow. However, you can create your own levels, enemies and even upload them online and share them. This means, of course, you can also download other creations.

Like many Wii games, Blast Works graphics are good because of the style more so than being cutting edge technology. The polygons help to bring out the best in the games style. And despite how much clutter gets on screen it almost never slows down. It's certainly not cutting edge technology and you can even find several Wii games that look better, but at the very least it doesn't look generic. The style is actually quite pleasing and attractive. It's another Wii game that shows that style is just as important as looking good. And Blast Works definitely has style and it's style definitely makes it look good.

Blast Works old school charm and simple gameplay make it a good game. However, another thing that helps it out is that it's actually reasonably challenging. There will be some gamers who will have a reasonably easy time getting through the game, but on the higher difficulty levels, even some of the most experienced gamers might have some trouble. It may be short but there's a lot of replay here as well.

Blast Works is simple and fun. If you've got a Wii and are looking for some rather addictive action, then Blast Works is the perfect game.

Blast Works is a side-scrolling shooter that lets players craft the game to their liking by building their own levels, ships and enemy ships. In addition, players can "absorb" the pieces and weapons of destroyed enemy ships to bolster their own defenses during battle. Across more than 15 different land, air and sea missions, the goal of Blast Works is to destroy enemy ships while continually growing your own into a massive craft by absorbing their fragments. The larger a "fused ship" is, the easier it is to protect from the growing onslaught of enemy firepower. Players can also upgrade their ship in the Hangar by customising weapons, propulsion systems and armour. The game's 2-player cooperative mode lets players work together to blast enemies, fuse debris to grow their ships and finish the mission as a team. Finally, creative types will enjoy building a ship from scratch with the Ship Editor and then testing it out in combat on a custom level they've built with the Level Editor. With the multiple editing and customization options, you'll never play the same game twice! ESRB Rated RP for Rating Pending

(Lazy living room golf)

(WII golf game)

(Good Golfing For Couch Potatoes)

(Very enjoyable game)

(A very fun and immersive game for the Wii.)
A great way of getting golf exercise with out the tee time expense. I love the graphics and the holes seem so real. I love this game.
Got this for my son and he loves it. He can go home every night after work and play a game of golf. It has a good variety of golf courses. He plays it every day. Great item! It even makes me want to play.
I bought this game, because I wanted a more realistic golfing experience than Wii Sports provides. This game fits the bill. I have to put some real power and thought to my drives. The look of the courses is good, but still a little cartoony. When I play as Tiger, he gives me an annoyed glare and head shake after bad shots. There are many pro players to choose from. This game is a good way to keep your form and power, when it is too cold to play.
My wife and I have been very pleased with the purchase of Tiger Woods 2007 PGA Tour for Wii. The graphics and game play are very realistic. We are both golfers and find that by playing on the Wii, our regular golf game has improved.
To be honest, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is the first golf game I have purchased for a console ... ever. And my gaming days date back to the original NES. Essentially, what sold me on this game was Wii Sports. Yeah, it was a simplistic, bare-bones game. However, it got me thinking how fun the games of the actual sports (golf, baseball, boxing, tennis, and yes, even bowling) would be on the Wii.

I have to say that I was not disappointed! In order to perform a golf swing in the game you, as expected, swing the Wiimote (I find that to be more efficient than saying "Wii remote") just as you would a golf club. I feel that this also adds a whole new side to the gameplay. No longer are you required to just aim your shot and swing with timed button presses and/or the analog stick. The distance and power of your back swing and follow-through actually control the power of the shot. It becomes necessary on some shots to take advantage of multiple practice swings in order to get your shot power just right. Swinging the Wiimote properly can be touchy, especially if you're not used to the system. But once you get it down pat, it's almost like riding a bike -- you'll never forget. (For example, I was playing a round with a few friends of mine who had never touched a Wii. A few of them were having difficulty and seemed to be "punching" their shots every time and only hitting it 70-80% power. One I told to try swinging only with one hand and another I told that I noticed that at the top of his back swing, he seemed to be cocking his wrist. Once they both took that advice in to consideration and adjusted accordingly, they were fine.) There is also an option to swing using the Nuncuk's analog stick, for those that are more comfortable with that style of play. The game also, by pressing the 1 button, lets you select shot types. You can choose from shots like a full swing, punch, pitch, chip, etc. and this option will also let you putt from the fringe.

One of the things in this that I really like is that there are many effects that you can put on the ball with just small adjustments to the Wiimote. For example, you can add a draw or a fade to your shot by tilting the Wiimote accordingly. In addition, by pressing on the directional pad after the swing (while your ball is in the air), you can adjust the speed and direction of the spin. This can make for some great adjustments to the shot. One of my friends seems to nail an eagle or double eagle from 100 to 250 yards out almost every round he plays!

Of course, there are also some negative effects of the Wiimote if you're not careful. If you fail to keep your wrist/the Wiimote in a straight line while you shoot, you can end up with an shot that will angle off target a bit. There is also the possibility of slicing or hooking the ball way into the rough, sand, or worse, the water. However, the game has a nice difficulty setting that will eliminate all of these errors on the easy difficulty. Then, after you feel more comfortable with the game and the controls, you can raise it back up to bring these effects back in to play.

As you progress through the game modes, your character will earn skill points and cash. You can use the cash to buy everything from new items form your wardrobe to watches, new clubs, and even different style golf balls. Through your performance in tournaments, you can also earn sponsorships, which will unlock more items for you, as well as pay you bonus money just for wearing that sponsor's item (i.e. a hat) in a tournament.

There are a variety of mini/multiplayer games as well. There are, of course, the usual stroke and skin play, but there's also "Tiger Challenge," which gives you 20 different challenges (i.e. beat so-and-so in match play) in order to become master of the links. I found the most interesting game, which happens one that's new to the series this year, to be One Ball. This game is just as it sounds. It is played with only one ball and players alternate shots. This brings a lot of strategy into the game because you have to hit it within a certain ring (within half the distance to the flag) or risk a penalty. However, you also do not want to shoot it onto the green 5 feet away from the pin, resulting in an easy put for your opponent and letting him take the hole.

Overall, Woods 07 is a very fun game to play and, if you try to purchase everything there is to buy (in addition to raising the cash, you have to unlock the sponsorships), the game will just about never end for you. During the first round of play against my three friends (the ones I mentioned earlier, who had never touched a Wii), all three of them said that it was an awesome experience and that they would probably eventually pick up a Wii of their own. And mind you, one of these friends already owned Woods 07 for the 360.

(Good)

(A hit for Father's Day!)

(Liked Jet Moto? I did....)
it is good, but you might get board because it goes in circle so many times.
The game was a huge hit for my husband&son (5) for dad's day. I wanted a game that they could play together&this is it. They love playing the game&racing side x side.
****UPDATE*** 5 stars for FUN: I got a chance to really sit down and play this game with some friends, and I must say, it is alot of fun. It felt like I was playing a mixture of Jet Moto and ATV:Offroad Fury... and that is a good thing. Sure, it doesnt compare graphically with PS3/Xbox 360 titles, but that isnt why we own a wii, right? We bought a wii because the games are fun and the controls are innovative. This game is a worthy title. Some online reviews really ripped into the controls... however, I found the controls to be really well done. ALso, I love that the game isnt stingy with Nitro/turbo...and it is diffucult enough that I am having to really work to get 1st place in all the events, and yet easy enough that newbies that come over are up and playing in no time! This is a fun title, and I suggest you buy it!

[Original review] When I bought this game, I didn't expect more than what I knew it was: an land version of Jet-Moto using the Wiimote for steering... and that is exactly what I got. I read reviews that the steering is tricky, and it can be. But, all in all, I am enjoying the game. I am really looking forward to more people buying it, as right now you can't always find people playing online, which is a feature that I am most excited about. Also, if you have a friend that also owns the game and is connected via wi-fi, you can connect peer to peer with this via wiiconnect and play them, which is a nice option for parents who want to be sure of who their kids are playing with...all you need is them to be added to your wii address book. I should also mention that there is a 4-player split screen mode that aint too shabby!

There seems to be alot of replay value as well... lots of unlockables and mini games, etc. I will update this review as soon as I get further in the game!

When you're out biking, don't you wish you could go faster? Well, you'll feel like you are with Nitrobike. In the game, Nitro-charged rockets are strapped to your dirt bike, so you'll speed past your opponents to the finish line. But don't use too much, or you'll slide right into the mud. Wii Remote rumble, blur effects, and screen shake will make this the fastest experience you'll encounter on the Wii. Play against your friends in the six-person online multiplayer game. If you like bowling, you can play the Rack 'em Up feature, where you smash your bike into a frame of king-sized pins in the four-player game. You can also upgrade your bike and unlock lots of characters in the game.

You Gotta Be You - Career mode, upgradeable bikes, and lots of unlockable characters will ensure you stand out as the most Xtreme of the Xtreme

(Crazy cool)

(Awful)

(Almost more of the same, but not quite)

(Instant Classic)
I love this franchise...the gameplay is challenging but not devastating. The Humor is raunchy, like the previous titles and aimed at an older demographic, like me.
Destroy all Humans 1 is my favorite game of all time. The graphics were great (and it was PS2!), it was funny, and imaginative. The missions were fun and it took me months to finish (ok, I'm not a hardcore gamer). DAH2 was downhill, but still ok fun.

This one, well..it just blows! It looks horrible, like only pastels were used. Tires melt into the roads, objects float in the air (and I'm not talking about because of anthing Crypto did to them) and it just looks like garbage.Plus, the humor is pretty much missing.

I truly believe this title was cranked out in a hurry and that the makers underestimated the power of the Wii. Can't wait to see what's changed for the 360.

Big Willy Unleashed is recognizable and comfortable as the third part of the Destroy All Humans franchise, but it's under new management. New developer Locomotive took over for Pandemic with this installment, and there are some changes.

The Wii control scheme is similar to Metroid Prime 3, but it doesn't work as seamlessly, in part because Metroid is first-person and Willy is third-person. When Crypto is too close to another object, the camera moves into a pseudo-first-person view that becomes hard to control. It's also hard to get Crypto shooting where you want him in a mass firefight -- he has to be pointing the right way, even if you can put the cursor on what you want to shoot. As with Metroid, you can't get too excited while playing -- move the Wiimote too far to the side and it loses sight of the sensor bar, and you lose control of the character. However, the controls aren't terrible -- especially considering it's obvious from early dialogue that the game was planned for the PS2 and ported to Wii later.

The graphics are disappointing compared to other Wii titles; they're on a par with the previous PS2 outing, although the Wii's superior hardware doesn't drop frames when things get busy the way the PS2 did.

The biggest disappointment, though, is the writing. The sarcasm, wit, and biting satire of the previous two games is oddly absent. There's a lot of puerile jokes about Big Willy, but relatively little skewering of the 70s. Worse, Crypto no longer has the ability to read minds -- so the joy of listening to all the twisted inner thoughts of the game's residents is gone. True, you can hear some remarks by wandering around wearing someone else's body, but they're relatively few and more repetitive than in the past. The result is a game that has the mechanics that made the series good, but it's missing the soul that made it excellent.

** Update: I'm almost done with the game now, and I must admit that it seems more like a budget title. They definitely didn't put as much into this one as they did into the second game. The cities all seem smaller, and have a lot less to destroy. The enemies are absurdly repetitive (yes, much more so than before if you can believe it), and the new weapons aren't as exciting as the now missing meteor shower. I thought there would be a lot more to this game, but all I have left is collecting energy cells and I feel like I've barely done anything. This would be a great game for $30, but at $50 it's verging on being a rip-off. Just wait until the price goes down, because they will have to lower it if they want to sell a lot of copies.**

If you're already a Destroy All Humans fan hoping for the next fix, this is definitely it. If you're new to it, this is a great place to start. The plot, subplot, and characters are all pretty absurd as usual. The humor is more crude than ever, and the excessive violence comes in even more varieties. The AI (people) are stupid as ever, and still blurt out all kinds of funny one-liners. The music is all right, and the graphics are pretty nice for the most part, except for all of the humans which are blocky as usual.

You complete missions toward a greater objective, as well as self contained odd jobs. You have a nice array of weapons and "pyschokenetic" abilities, as well as a flying saucer and the new giant metal robot fast-food chain mascot that shoots lasers out of its eyes and vomits corrosive acid. When you're not completing a mission or odd job, you can just have fun wreaking havoc however you want, which might be the best part of the game.

The controls are fairly awkward at first, but well worth learning. Crypto, his saucer, and Big Willy all control differently. Crypto uses the control stick and pointer, and you aim his weapons by pointing at the screen. The saucer and Big Willy use the gyroscopic motion sensor in the remote, which takes getting used to. Big Willy is a cool edition to the game and more than just a gimmick. Ultimately, it shouldn't take you too long to get the controls down and when you do, you'll see how easy and convenient they really are.

As Crypto, our loveable alien invader, take on the human race and other enemies once again to harvest valuable human DNA and destroy all humans. Use a devastating arsenal of weapons and mental abilities, take to the sky in your UFO to rain terror from above, or for the first time jump into your Big Willy mech and unleash even more massive destruction.
