(Not That Bad)
(Great Game)
(Unacceptable GTA Clone) I am not the kind of guy who complains or demands a lot about games and I have always been able to overlook minor glitches as long as the game is fun and keeps me entertained, HOWEVER I must say that I have NEVER EVER had such a terrible experience like I did with this game. In the beginning I was loving the game, great missions and I could literally play it for hours, but then the nightmare started. There is a mission that you have to complete called "Shadow Tong" where you have to push a character off a crate, I found out at least in my case that it is just impossible. After hours and hours of trying to do it and reading walkthroughs that could help me figure out what I was doing wrong, I realized that it wasn't even my fault!!!!!!! It is a glitch that apparently comes only for the XBOX version and tons of people were having the same problem. The result was my total and utter dissapointment, after all, what is the point of starting a game you cannot finish????!!!! I felt ripped off and extremely upset and I decided to warn everybody about this because it is unacceptable. Since then the game is stored in my closet getting dusty, reminding me the HUGE MISTAKE I did throwing my good earned money in the garbage. There are hundreds of great games you could buy, think of the choices and spare yourself the misery of getting this one. So please just research a little bit so you know what I'm talking about and if you do decide to ignore what I have stated here, well don't say I didn't warn you.
P.S. The game freezes ALL the time as well so be prepared for that too if you buy it. I'll start by saying that True Crime NYC is the first console game that I can remember since the Sega Master System days that actually crashed my console. New game disc, 2005 model Xbox with no read errors or other problems; this is simply a horribly broken piece of software.
What is so sad about TCNYC is the clear attempt to make a great game. The programmers were trying to do something big here, what with the interesting storyline, the depth of the fighting engine, detailed building interiors, on and on. But they failed spectacularly at almost every attempt.
To the first major failure: an apparent lack of understanding of how to program software within the limitations of the hardware. The game simply tries to render far too much during driving for even the reasonably powerful Xbox. Framerates sieze up every block or two, and this led to my first complete system crash within ten minutes of play. Disturbing. I can only imagine how unplayable this is on the less powerful PS2. The driving control scheme relies on "special move" buttons to perform stunts; a pretty good indicator that the programmers had no idea how to build a working car physics engine. The awful control scheme doesnt even include analogue gas/brake functions, which would have been perfectly fine on the trigger buttons (GTA 2 did this with the DREAMCAST controller almost ten years ago). Rolling through NYC in a jet-black unmarked 4.6 Crown Vic Interceptor should feel cool, but it just feels crummy.
The on foot engine is acutally an improvement over GTA's, at least until running or fighting. While the fight sequences could have been a saving grace, the ridiculously complicated Street Fighter-style button combos make it miserable. Each special move button results in a pre-rendered animation sequence that feels clumsy and is just as likely to leave your face in the fist of your enemy as have the desired consequence. A simplified scheme with fewer "special" moves and improved response time could have made this the nicest fighting engine in any open-world game to date. But it isn't.
The city itelf, while detailed and often well-lit at night, just doesn't have the character of Liberty City. Perhaps due to the lack of any verticality in the landscape (no bridges, hills, or even peaks and valleys in roadways), the city feels dull and lifeless after a few hours of driving. And strange glitches in environment lighting (car lights flicker on and off) and collision detection evaporate any sense of realism. Not to mention awful behavior programming for pedestrians which turns every NYC resident into a Tourette's victim.
The story is initially interesting, although the foul language used as "dialogue" crosses the line from shocking to just plain bad writing. Unfortunately a horrific glitch in the volume balance means you wont hear 90% of the game's cutscenes. There must have been some evil, angry, vindictive person in charge of testing this game. You just can't screw up this bad accidentally.
The one element that really stood out as a positive was the use of NYC's precincts as controllable strategic elements of the overall map. By apprehending criminals (who commit a wide variety of rather creative crimes) in a precinct, you can gradually clean it up and gain respect and rank within your squad. While it's not much more than a nonessential side mission, I found it gave me a sense of control and accomplishment that the paint-by-numbers story mode lacked.
Unfortunately, a few unique concepts arent enough to save TCNYC from its abominable technical problems. Because the developers tried to do so much and occasionally succeeded, I can't say it's a completely bad game...but due to all the glitches it's certainly a failure. People are really ripping into this game, but I actually really like it. There are definitely some glitches but that tends to happen in a huge open world game like this one. Even GTA is not completely glitch-free. It does feel like they released the game too soon, without proper testing, but it is still fun. The learning curve is a little steeper than with GTA but once you get it figured out, there is an enjoyable game here. It's kinda cool to play the good guy for a change, but you can always go rogue if you want...anyway if you like GTA and you have some patience to learn the control scheme, this is a good game at a bargain price. You can definitely spend many hours wandering around New York busting perps; crimes happen all around you in real time - not like GTA where you have to go 'get a mission' in order to make anything interesting happen. For this reason alone, the game world feels more alive and exciting. I say buy it. I enjoyed the game and thus give it a perfect score because it kept me going for months even though i beat the game 6 times. I enjoyed the game a lot despite all the bugs and glitches. It's created with the real look and feel of new york city. Despite all the praise though the game really did frustrate me with all the bugs and things. Like on the Shadow Tong case it took me forever to knock Tommy off the crate thing. But overall loved it! I hope the come ou with a third TC. True Crime New York City is the sequel to True Crime L.A. Though you are now playing as a former gang member named, Marcus instead of Kang. Marcus was framed and betrayed by his own gang boss, so from the beginning of the game you will start blasting away in a bitter state of revenge. Marcus then makes a new lead in life by becoming a cop with the help of his father's friend. Five years later, Marcus is being offered the undercover detective position and sets out to fight crime in the city of New York. First let me comment, on the good points of the game: The shooting, driving and martial arts system in the gameplay have been improved over its predecessor. In the shooting aspect, you can now lock on to targets and blast away. The weaponry has improved and are more fierce, feeling a bit like Max Payne. You can also do presiscion shots again but it feels better. The driving vehicles also improved, feeling tighter and you can even drift on corners.
The good points however, are dragged down by sloppy programming that left the game unfinished and full of strange glitches, which are not acceptable! My in-game mini radar showed a bad guy as a red dot and I went searching endless for the bad guy and could never find it even though I was right on the dot. Then I made my game character look up and the bad guy was FLOATING in mid-air! The in-game police characters often chased after ghost criminals yelling "stop right there" and then took off running! Sometimes when I crashed my cars with other vehicles, their body would sink half-way into the ground! The sound effects and character speeches would cut off abruptly, especially on the streets with pedestrians. Shooting bad guys in the head is not always a kill, but I shot someone in the leg three times and they died! The graphics are cheap and the frame-rate is full of lag! I don't care how wonderful a game concept is. If the gameplay is so buggy as to hinder its enjoyment, then it is junk! Game developers should not release buggy games like this and sell them to the public as a finished product, this simply is unacceptable! Skip this and save your money; you've been warned.
Pros: +minor improvements +arresting people is fun
Cons: -cheap looking graphics -floating bugs -collision detection problems -sound issues -terrible frame-rate -control issues -improvements ruined by glitches
True Crime: New York City is the most authentic depiction of New York in a Video game. Marcus Reed was a gang member, just waiting for his turn in a jail cell, until Terry showed him he could do more than just fill an orange jumpsuit. Five years later, Marcus and Terry are New York City police officers, and life is better -- until Terry is brutally murdered. Marcus gets the call to go undercover and becomes obsessed with finding Terry's killer. If he has to, he'll take on every gang and mob in the city to do it. Navigate over 25 miles of Manhattan -- select from any number of undercover vehicles, or borrow one from the citizens. (A Game for all ages)
(Madden Bugs)
(What is wrong with this freaking game?!)
(New game new year) My wife purchased the game for my son and I and after playing this game for about two months it began freezing up during plays. We thought it was just the actual game that we got but after reading some of the reviews we see maybe it's just that version. This is a game that my ten year old grandson and his seventy year old grandfather both delight in playing for hours on end.... Realistic and fast paced! Of course this game plays great, it is the next installment of the Madden series. However, usually I can't get through an entire game without it locking up. I read others had issues with this but thought since I bought my game at least 6 months after it had came out, I thought the bugs in my version would be fixed. I was wrong, buyer beware... it sits collecting dust now because it's frustrating to play over 3 quarters and have the Xbox crash out. Other games have froze up for me, such as Scarface and Godfather, but they have built in mechanisms that overcome the freeze-screen within a minute. Even when the game says "your disc may be scratched or dirty." Why don't all games have this mechanism? Especially a game like Madden with such a lofty reputation? I'm disappointed to say the least and should have paid attention to other reviewers' warnings. I can not believe this game continues to freeze up. My Xbox can play any other game I own perfect, but not Madden 07. The first game we got was returned within 2 days for crashing. So we played 06 for awhile...no problems. We got a brand new sealed 07 from the return and the game does the same FREAKING thing! Freeze up and crash the Xbox. Yet, all of my other games play fine. That pretty much narrows it down to this particular title having issues. There is nothing worse than sitting through 3 quarters of play and then *poof* game freezes up and your left cursing at your TV. Stupid.
Ultimately, it isn't any different than 2006 except for some roster updates and a couple of new moves.
Someone needs to issue a patch for this game that can be downloaded via Xbox Live to correct the problems with it. My son loves his new game and I have heard no complaints!!! Yeah! In Madden NFL 07, you'll control the running game like never before. For the first time ever, step up as the lead blocker to create a hole, then take control of the tailback and smash through, overpower, or slash away from would-be tacklers - as you fight for every yard. Innovative rushing controls give you a game-breaking ground attack featuring all-new jukes, cutbacks, and the distinct running styles of your favorite backs. Between the tackles or in the open field, run to daylight with Madden NFL 07. Smaller backs escape and break tackles, while bigger runners bowl over defenders in the open field Scout collegiate prospects with the all-new NFL Draft Scouting System and during the College All-Star Game Watch players impact their teams with the new Franchise Player Roles feature Team-Specific Defensive Playbooks - For the first time, use actual plays from your favorite team's defensive playbook to shut down the running game, pressure the quarterback, or force key turnovers Rerations < Madden NFL 07 >

customer 's review (READY... AIM... NIGHTFIRE!)
(Very Bad Game)
(5 years later and I still play it the best bond game from EA)
(Great Fun!!)
(Not to bad.......) Take an entertaining and original 007 storyline, add a great single-player campaign, throw in some excellent mulitplayer and you've got one classic James Bond game (shaken but not stirred of course). Following the classic 007 formula, Nightfire is the story of a madman out to destroy the world with the help of a sophisticated satellite and as usual it's up to 007 to stop him. The story is quite good for a Bond game, you'll be easily caught up in this 007 adventure.Nightfire features some classic 007 weaponry and adds some unique new toys of it's own. From big lasers and remote mines to smoke throwin/missile firing S.U.V.'s, there is no such thing as a boring weapon here. Also,a total lack of blood&gore content ensures that this game is suitable for young players.Multiplayer is where this game truly shines. You can not only customize who you will verse, but you can customize their attitude, speed and actions. There are also many different styles of control to choose from along with the usuals like friendly fire and point/time limit. There is also a sizeable list of characters to choose from and miniature vehicles can be added to the arenas. All in all, Nightfire has continued to impress over the years,it's satisfying story and excellent multiplayer have kept family and friends crowded around their systems for hours of fun. So jump in and experience one of the better Bond adventures out there. This game is extremely bad. The graphics are bad and after you beat it once you don't want to ever beat it again. You are in 2nd person shooter which is bad and your enemys dissapear after they die which is unrealistic. The multiplayer is the only thing that saved this game from getting a 1 star. Even then the multiplayer mode is mediocre. Borrow this from a friend. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY After this game EA simply could not live up to the Bond title following Everything or Nothing, Goldeneye RA(worst bond game ever), and then the mediocre From Russia With Love. This is my favorite post-GoldenEye Bond game. Thankfully EA will not be developing more Bond games in the near future or if there will be any Bond games in the near future. At the time I remember saying the graphics can't get any better than this, 5 years later the graphics are still stunning(yes its outdated but still enjoyable). However this game isn't perfect. It is missing 2 very important factors, 1 no system link capabilities, 2 no xbox live to be found at all. I understand they released this game a little before xbox live was first released but maybe they could have put it on hold and added an xbox live option. There is one more problem I have with the game and that is like many others have said its to short if it were longer it would of been better than GoldenEye in my eyes. You will not find a better bond game on next-gen consoles then this one its as close to GoldenEye as your ever gonna get. This is probably the best Bond FPS since Goldeneye, but it has one flaw, Pierce Brosnan doesn't talk for himself and the actor sounds nothing like Pierce! That's not a big deal when you read it, but it is kind of weird to hear a voice that sounds more like Sean Connery coming out of Pierce's mouth. The action and story, however, are really exciting and fun to play. It's not only FPS, but you are also driving levels as well. My favorite part is that you actually get to drive in a submarine car like what was in the movie "The Spy Who Loved Me". Overall, just a fun game that Bond fans will love, once they get used to the weird voice of 007 I just bought this game the other day(i know its really outdated) and it wasnt to bad, but when a couple days later i happen to pick up Halo 2,Bond seemed really weird........Well anyways i think this is an ok shooter, but if you want a great one for your xbox library try out Halo, or Halo 2.
007: Nightfire challenges you to reach new heights and depths as the world-renowned superspy! The latest installment in the James Bond series,007: NightFireis a worthy sequel to 2001's outstandingAgent Under Fire. The game retains the overall look of its predecessor--including some familiar recurring characters and gadgets--but is designed to feel more like an actual Bond movie than a video game. After the familiar gun-barrel opening shot, you're introduced to the game via a precredits action sequence through the streets of Paris that leads into an original theme song with corresponding surreal imagery. The pacing of the game is natural, with each objective leading smoothly to the next. You even get to holster your PPK, don a tuxedo, and infiltrate a cocktail party at your adversary's mansion, making small talk with his henchmen, flirting with female party guests, and eavesdropping on secret conversations. Of course, within minutes you'll be shooting your way out of the place to make a daring escape in true 007 fashion, complete with Bond's trademark one-liners. The story line combines espionage, action, and innuendo in just the right proportions to evoke a real Bond-movie atmosphere. The game's overall playability is improved by some nice attention to detail, not the least of which is the addition of smarter and less predictable villains (they can hear you coming, they communicate with each other, and they're better at finding cover and sneaking up behind you). You also have more tactical options (there are many ways to reach each objective, so the game is highly replayable) as well as a better arsenal of gadgets and weapons. And best of all, the multiplayer mode incorporates classic characters from many Bond movies. More than any other 007 game to date,NightFirewas designed with the die-hard Bond fan clearly in mind.--Maile Bohlmann Pros: - Well-developed story line
- Authentic Bond-movie atmosphere
- Great graphics, sound, and music
- Smart, crafty villains
- Wide range of controller settings
Cons: - Precredits action sequence is far too easy
- They still don't have Bond's voice quite right (Maxwell Caulfield?!)
- Fans of nonstop action might not appreciate the extended cutscenes

SNK(2004-09-28)
customer 's review (Was a huge fan of Street Fighter 10 years ago...but man its aged in 10 years)
(Crap!!)
(Think before you buy.....)
(NOT THAT BAD AT ALL!!!!!!)
(Chaos for the game of people playing it?) I felt it didn't do a justice to the hardware in the XBOX. The graphics looked really dated, gameplay had really aged. So I sit here playing my xbox and I glance at the SVC:Chaos game box and I wonder, "why did I buy that game??" Ladies and Gentle men this will be a very short review, this game is GARBAGE!! I am a long standing 2d game fan and SNK is almost the lone survivor of the 2d age. So it saddens me when they release a game like this which is such an obvious rushed and uncared for release just to satisfy contractual demands they had with Capcom. LOW RES graphics and I mean sub par neo geo graphics....sound is even worse.Skip it...buy Capcom vs Snk: EO 2...muuucchh better better everything... SNK really dropped the ball...after playing Guilty Gear this game jus would not cut it Oi, I saw how some of these reviews trash this game. I thought oh look it's either people who hate snk games or kids that grew up with playstation 1 not atari's and nintendo's. But, nope this game is really really dissapointing. It doesn't have to be because it's old. Other old arcade translations to consules are great and are still fun. The game seems to have slow sluggish responses. It's like it's missing some frame's. The computer no matter what level you play does the same junk over and over. Does fireballs and whatever uppercut move it has over and over. Controls are rather off too.... On the plus game matches load fast and graphics look decent for how old of a game this be. As for the Capcom vs Snk it's really questionable. It's more or less a few street fighter charcater and a few samurai and fatel fury. Not much of a true versus game. If it was a true versus game there'd been some Final Fight characters more Dark Stalkers, mabye mega man ect ect... As for the snk half boy weak weak some of the least exicting character from their half. Snk has ton's of interesting characters.... I'd recommend if you only own an xbox like me to pick up Samurai Showdown and Street Fighter II Collection vs this uninspiring game. The best part of this game was finally finding it at a local game stop after that the fun left the building.... i bought this game like a week ago, and to be honest im enjoying every aspect of it...graphics are not the greatest but not the worst either...when it comes to gameplay, i have no complaints at all...hadoukens( fireballs or projectiles) are really fast, in compare to ANY of the streetfighters games outhere, and i really liked that..capcom characters are tone down to a seriousness, not like the alpha series....the sf alpha series makes the characters look like fisher-price figures in my own opinion!!.its cool you can pick from vega, balrog, earthquake,(big guy from samurai showdown) and mr karate. the fighters handle good and powerful and definitelly ( I LOVE THE HEAVEN STAGE WITH THE LITTLE ANGELS!!!!!!!!)never seen that on any game!!! A++ TO SNK...!!!!! The idea of bringing two classic fighting games: Capcom's heavy hitting Street Fighter with the popular SNK King of Fighter's series. Capcom did it beautifully with Capcom Vs SNK series, as character flowed smoothly and the 3D backgrounds were simply gorgeous. One would hope that when SNK did their version of the game, they would try to take some advice from Capcom or Emeril for the matter and "kick it up a notch." Unfortunately, the game does not do so.
Granted, SNK has never been one to boast graphic but overall gameplay. Neither the mediocre graphics that a Sega Saturn game could easily surpass or the fast gameplay can save this game from it's dead on arrival demise.
While the graphics can be overlooked, the imbalance of characters makes this game overall frustrating, as you throw the game across the room faster than Ryu can throw a fireball. Ryu and Ken are typically the best characters in the game since they are the easiest to control. However, cheapness runs throughout the game, especially throughout the likes of Mr. Karate and his cheap fireballs. Even with the secret characters of Zero from the Megaman series, Dmitri from Dalkstalkers, and Violent Ken (where did he come from by the way?!), they don't even add anything to this bargain bin game.
The overall verdict? Save your money and get Capcom Vs SNK 2. The graphics are better, the gameplay is faster and it's an overall better experience. SNK Vs. Capcom SVC Chaos brings together the world's greatest warriors for all-out 2D fighting adventure! It's an incredible clash of 36 world-famous fighters, from the two most popular fighting game producers. New techniques like the Ground Cancel and other new features add to the excitement as you face old enemies with all-new techniques and strategies. Rerations < SVC Chaos - SNK vs Capcom >

customer 's review (Awesome old school fun)
(A lot of fun!)
(Monkeys!!!)
(Fun for the whole family)
(I love it) This game is so fun! The arcade games are the best, especially the mini golf and the hang glider, the rest of the games aren't that fun. But it is still worth it. Great fun for a few bucks This game is a lot of fun to play, it's a good single-player game, but even more so are all the multi-player games, from tennis (singles or doubles) to baseball, bowling and others, it'll definitely be worth the money. Super Monkey Ball might turn some people off because of the fact that you roll through level after level as a monkey living inside a ball. The object of the game requires you to roll around the levels, going from one place to the other. This can actually make you nauseous after extended periods of play.
Super Monkey Ball gets its fair share of complaints for containing too many rip-offs of standard platform games. It's true the game is very much like a 3D Donkey Kong or Kirby, but you shouldn't dismiss the game until you try it, at least. It will satisfy you, probably.
My son's Dad brought this back from Army training and at first I laughed at him. Then we had Margarita night (our son was on a road trip with other family) and played Monkey Golf, Monkey Mini Golf, Monkey Racing, and Monkey bowling till the next thing we knew the sun was coming up. We had four grown, responsible adults laughing and having a great (if loud) time. When our son returned we did it all over again (just without the Margaritas). This is a game that ANYONE can find something to play and it all makes you laugh. I like to watch the little monkey golfer hitting his golf ball that he happens to be standing inside. I bought this game because from what I read on it, it would be easy for my 3 year old. It was. He loves this game. He can't get enough of it. I played it and was surprised of how addicted to it I got. This game is great ANYONE. I would recommend this game to anyone. I love it.&my 3 year really loves. That is what counts. If you want a game for the whole family. This a game for you. Super Monkey Ball Deluxe mixes both of the amazing Super Monkey Ball games for hours of hilarious fun! Monster Cable(2006-06-15)
Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (terrible)
(Quality product but must have miscalculated some specs)
(Damaged our receiver, then fell apart. Get the Psyclone Cable.)
(Worked fine for 2 weeks and boom)
(Modded Xbox and HDTV? These are a must!) I don't normally write reviews, but this product is terrible. They actually managed to mess up sizing their component plugs, as they don't even fit snugly into my TV. I'd recommend avoiding the Monster cables and going with something else. The cable is outstanding. It is very thick and the quality of the picture that is produced knocks composite cables out the water. But like many of the other reviews stated, the actual component cables are very hard to insert or take out of your TV. So much so that instead of risking damage to my TV, I instead broke off the gold-plated sides of the inserts themselves. So...instead of being too tight, they are now extremely loose. lol. Oh well, the picture produced looks great. Great enough to warrant such defacement to a product? Umm...I don't think so. It's made for an Xbox. You'd be hardpressed to find anyone that can see a noticeable difference between these cables vs. any other component cables. Only buy these if you are a Monster fanboy. But be warned that you may have to do some modifications like I did or risk damaging your equipment. I foolishly bought the Monster Cable Xbox Component Video Cable for $25 during my local Circuit City's store closing. I thought the cable would be better than the Psyclone Xbox Video Cable w/Digital Port, because I had actually heard of Monster before, plus I didn't want to wait for the Psyclone cable to arrive in the mail. Big mistake. The Monster cable actually did damage to our receiver, because the plugs were too snug-fitting, and now we have to run component video through the TV. Anyway, after damaging my receiver, the cable promptly fell apart. So I came to Amazon, ordered the Psyclone, and was very pleased with the quality.
I will now trust Psyclone over Monster any day. And the Psyclone is $10! I read a lot about this cables on the web. Seemed this were the best ones to resurrect my old Xbox on my 47" LCD TV. They worked great for two weeks. Today the signal began to have distortions, the image was moving and then it was cut in half. At first I thought it was my TV, but it resulted it was the Monster Cable's fault. Now I have NO SIGNAL on my TV. If any one knows if this is normal and can be fixed please let me know. But by know I can tell you "Don't buy this cables". Just as everyone else has mentioned, if you have an HDTV and a modded Xbox (for XBMC), this is a must have! If you have it, it's recommended by XBMC to only upconvert to 720p but you can also go to 1080i.
And like all the other reviews, these suckers are tough to get on! One reviewer said to get some oils/lubricant but I was too lazy to go to the store to get some so I decided to try it without it. All you have to do is twist and wiggle (just a little bit) and they go in pretty easily. Do NOT try to force them in as I tried that at first...and you can really screw something up if you decide to keep pushing.
Be sure to have the most current XBMC and set it to 720p (or 1080i if you'd like). customer 's review (fighting game)
(Guilty Gear X2)
(Great game if you always wanted to fight online, but....)
(Proof that 2D fighting is alive and kicking)
("Ride the Lightning") guilty gear is a fantastic series of games and x2 is no exception. if you are a fan of classic 2-d fighting then this is a must. it has the traditional japanese art style that anime fans would instantly love. the difficulty level, however, is severe. this could be said of most fighting games though. if you do not like japanese animation or 2-d fighting, then one would reason that this game is not for you. One of the funnest, best fighting games I've ever played. I'm a big fan of the fighting genre, grew up on Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, later on I grew to love the King of Fighters series. Guilty Gear X2 stands with them all, but there is a learning curve because the fighting system is advanced and oh so dope. That's not to say you can't just pick it up and start throwing down. I bought this for my 360 because it's one of the backwards compatible games and it's incredible. ...well I thought it was only okay otherwise. The fighting modes, music and artwork were all well done. However other than the online capability, nothing really stood out to me as fantastic which is way I only gave it three stars in the end for "average". The characters were a little weird sometimes like the doctor with a paper bag over his head, the haunted dude with hearts on his cloths, the guy who fights with fans... but I kind of expected that (the crossdressing british boy who sounds, looks, dances and acts like a girl was the only one that completely creeped me out). There were only six characters I used more than once, the girl that fights with her hair, the gaint dude that reminded me of the Juggernaut, the dead guy who reminds me alot of the Spiderman baddie Venom, the wacky random robot, Sol Badguy (I only remeber his name because his last name is badguy and he is a bad guy)and the hardcore ninja dude(who is my all time best character in that game). To me, the rest of the characters really weren't worth having around. If only they had more interesting characters to choose from I might have given it a higher grade considering all the standered modern 2D gaming features plus the option of online brawling. Without the online opition I might as have played Marvel vs Capcom or SNK vs Capcom. In fact, because I prefer the fighter selection in both those games, I would probably would have overlooked Guilty Gear X2 completely if it hadn't been for the online fighting feature. Ah, the 2D fighter. I prefer them over 3D fighters, myself. But most don't. And if you looked at sale figures, you can see that for yourself. It's a fact. That's why you don't see many 2D fighters being made nowadays. But thankfully, Sammy made Guilty Gear anyways. And it is good. Hurrah.
I'll start off with game modes. There are quite a few, but I only find a couple to be worth playing. Arcade mode is your standard "Fight a bunch of people, fight a boss, ending, yay" affair. M.O.M. and Survival modes are basically "Use your best move repeatedly so you don't take any damage. Repeat." They're basically asking you to cheap out the computer as much as possible for extended periods of time. Sure, playing in every other mode, you could very easily do the same thing, but at least then your health doesn't carry over, so it allows for more messing around, which is always a fun part of fighters for me. Mission mode is fun, to an extent. The first 35 or so missions are fun, but then the missions start to get kind of dumb. A lot require you to beat a tough computer oppontant with 1/4th health with the computer slowly healing during the fight. After completing 50 of the 100 missions and unlocking the 2 hidden characters, I had no real desire to go back and complete anymore, because I found them much more aggrivating than enjoyable. VS CPU mode...ummm, shouldn't you just play Arcade? Story mode is OK. It require a lot of playthroughs to get all 3 story endings for every character, but it's well worth it. By completing all 3 story paths, you unlock a "L: SP" version for that particular character, which I'll talk about later. Unfortunatly, the story mode included in the game goes into very little of the actual story of the Guilty Gear series, which is actually rather good.
Now I know I just pretty much ripped most all of the game modes in the game, but I never said anything about actual gameplay. The gameplay itself is excellent. Just the different "modes" are kind of...eh. Anyways, the gameplay is excellent, like I already said. One of the best things about the game is the balance. I've never played a more balanced fighter. Every character in the game is good. While some require you to be a bit more knowledgable of their movelists, you can beat any normal character with any other normal character. Even the big slow lumbering guy is good, a first for a 2D fighter (Unless you count Sentinal from MvC2, who was just broken beyond belief) That's the normal characters, though. Every character (Except the 2 hidden characters) also have "White: EX" and "L: SP" versions. Each character has slightly altered abilities and movelists in EX, SP and EX+SP. Most characters are just horrendously good in SP and EX+SP modes (That's not even mentioning Gold versions) but even then, they're pretty much all equally horrendously good, and it's still fun playing against them. Good luck using normal characters on EX+SP, or God forbid, Gold characters...and if you're worried about Instant Kills unbalancing the game, don't. It's not like you can just BAM out of nowhere preform an Instant Kill. You have to press the 4 main face buttons simultaniously, then your character does a little stance, the background goes dark for a second, and then they yell out "OK, I'm now in Instant Kill mode. Watch out for it." (Not really, but that's basically what that whole set-up is) Then you put in your IK motion and you do your IK move, which can be blocked. And if it's blocked, or you miss, you can't use it again for the round. So don't go into the game thinking that everything is just "OMG instant kill everybody" (Though some people do play that way =P)
Graphically...it's unbelievable how good the game looks. I haven't seen sprites this good since...ever. If I was working at Capcom, I'd be pissed. Because after seeing this game, I don't see how'd there'd be ANY WAY to keep recycling sprites, this is so far ahead. There's also only one "Pallette swap" charcter (Robo-Ky) and he's hardly even a pallette swap anyways. The basic look is the same as Ky, but he has completly different animations and moves. I don't even consider him a palette swap, but *TECHNICALLY* he is a pallette swap. The backgrounds also look as good as the characters. The quality of all the art is outstanding.
As far as the online mode...it's OK. I've found it to vary a lot as far as lag. Sometimes, you'll play with virtually no lag, other times, you'll get 3-4 second delays between when you pressed a button and your character actually doing it. So it can either be very fun or beyond unplayable.
Music-wise, it's pretty good. Unfortunatly, I hear a lot of the same songs playing during the game. I shouldn't have to go to the sound test to hear half of the songs. But that's about the only problem I have with the soundtrack.
All in all, the game looks great, the game plays great, and even though the online is hit-or-miss, the game is worth the purchase even without online support. If you're jonesin' for a 2D fighter for your X-Box, look no further. It's well worth a purchase at $20 and much easier to find than MvC2. Guilty Gear X2 isn't like you're typical 2D fighter (if you wanted to call it that). The characters here aren't simply fighters aiming to be the strongest in the world, take vengence(ok one or two are), or merely test there skills. These fighters although weird have a background which suit them beyond compare and are characters with actual emotion. If you were to view the relationship between Sol and Ky as compared too Ken and Ryu you'd probably go like, "but Ken and Ryu are like best friends and share an awesome bond," yet though Sol and Ky try to kill one another every chance they get they still share quite a tight knit bond between one another which is more dynamic then the average buddy buddy or trained since youth scenario. Of course the whole, "were enemies, but we can still work together," concept has been done but rarely used. The most memorable case of this idea is DBZ's Goku and Vegeta, for anime fans to say the least. It's obvious that it's hard to comeup with some new ways of portraying characters in fighters and the reason why they fight; but here though it's done masterfully. All the characters of this game are so easy to relate to and love for their individuality and eccentricities that seem just so human in nature. To say the least each one presents their own attitude, which for all carry a cocky under tone to it. Such as Sol's classic bad ass attitude, Baiken's cold stare, and Slayer's nonchalance.
Obviously though you all want to hear about the gameplay. It's simple, it's awesome. To start just know that the animation here is the best you'll see for the XBOX without a doubt. Also this game, as I'm sure you've heard, has some of the most unique fighting techniques to ever grace the 2D Brawling World. There's Axel with his chained sickles, the juggernaut Potemkin, the amorphous Zato 1 (Eddie), the fan wielding Anji Mito, the powerful May, the dexterious Faust, and the lovely Milla Rage for starters. If this isn't a fantastic line up then I don'tknow what is. I mean you have a little girl that uses a freakin' anchor, a chick that has killer hair, and a deranged doctor with a whacked out love for poking you "where the sun don't shine." You'll just have fun learning all of their special abilities and enjoy seeing who well crafted they were. I must admit I've never loved getting beat by the same move 100 times in a row and say, "that move is too sweet," every time until this game.
One of the most intriguing qualities of this game that, which I believe sets it apart form all other fighter in general, is the Instant Kill. That is what it is and there's no need for me to explain it. For those who are a little curious let me put it this way; if your about to get you're butt beat and you have like no life while the other is at full health a well placed IK doesn't simply turn the tide, it obliterates it.
Also another great point about this game is the various game modes. There's MOM ( Master of Millionares ), the classic survival and story mode ( which both are quite nice ),and mission mode( probably the most challenging part of the game and at the same time the most fun. That is if you have the courage to lose a lot of hours of your life). Ok so it's like only four, but they're all really good modes and reflect the time and effort put into the production of this game and it's assured A ranking quality. In the old days survival was a great way to showoff how awesome you were, but after losing the 20th round again and again to the same [...], it gets kind of boring and sets the bar for you not to bother trying anymore, unless you're just that good (DOA 2 Ultimate online scores especially). Though with this game you simply want to come back to it again and again. The reason is because after defeating the boss that shows up every 10 matches you unlock a new version of the characters such as EX, Black, and even Gold versions. I'll admit I was only able to unlock the EX versions for most characters, but it leaves you too wonder. Even more so the moves for the alternates are different as compared to the originals which can play a big part in your strategy that will either make or break you. Along with this is the great story mode set up which provides you with alternate endings which proved to be funny and emotional all at the same time. It's a little tricky at sometimes though for you have to play through the story with a character once or twice before you can unlock another route to an ending for a different person. To sum this part up the unlockables from these modes are purely awesome, with the extra characters, alternate fighting versions, and a really cool art gallery which comes to being as good as Dark Stalkers 3 ( for those who've played the game should know what I mean ).
I'm sure you're tired of reading this by now if not simply quit and gave it a bad rating,or just didn't bother with it at all. So I'll just some it up; this game is "Spellbinding" and a must have for any person who loves fighters.
Hope this review was helpful.

customer 's review (Fun Game)
(Thrillville xbox version)
(Awsome game)
(I can't believe this is the game that Frontier WANTED and pushed Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 to the side.)
(THE BEST GAME I HAVE!!!!!!!! Out of 10 games.) My daugter enjoys this game that I purchased her. You can create your own theme park and interact with characters. This game is fun for all ages. Build your own amusement park, complete with rollercoasters, and other rides, then let your own character ride the rides you made yourself. Race your friends in go-carts, or just cruise your park and watch others ride your own ride you made yourself. Some people get sick coming off your roller coaster!
This game has other games to play besides making a park. You can be a cheerleader, play carnival games, and ride the bumper cars. My kids enjoy playing this over and over. Your amusement park can be saved for another day when you want to play again. Can be played by four people at a time. Jump on the trampoline with your buddies and see who can do the most tricks. Very entertaining, would recommend this for kids of all ages.
This game was purchased for my son for x-mas and has played with it everyday since receiving it. the theme of the game is cool and allows interaction with characters in park. I figure to give this game a chance. It's a real shame that they ripped off Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and added some unique things like roaming the park, cleaning up the park, and talking to your guests. All of this could of been done in RCT3 as you can ride your rides, but Frontier decided to pull the plug on RCT3 and put all their "marbles" into this game. As in the console game, it's much watered down. The PC version is not even fun enough to erase Rollercoaster Tycoon 3.
To sum it up, your uncle gives you a chance of owning your own theme park. You have to complete goals, talk to your guestd and build your park up.
It was fun for a little while. Playing mini-golf with a guest was good. But you cannot pick a spot to put a ride or stall as it is pre-determined. The game forces you to put it in specific places. Riding the rides is similar to RCT3 and it just didn't have the same vibe. When I was riding my own creations in RCT3 you slightly felt it lol but that was just me. In both Thrillvile and RCT3, the people in the parks (as well as yourself) are just a little too cartoonish.
I really didn't like this game and returned it recently. I enjoy playing RCT3. This game is so much fun! you can choose, and custamize your charector, dress them up, run the park, talk to people, play mini games, put in new coasters, rides, and food stalls! Thres also missions you can do to get to the next park! It's the best. It also has very fun music! Thrillville lets you customize your park and interact with guests like never before. For the first time ever, race on go-kart tracks you constructed, play mini-golf on courses you designed, and more. Build and hop into your own roller coasters and other rides. Only by keeping your guests happy and completing most of the hundreds of missions they present can you stave off the threat posed by the nefarious Globo-Joy corporation! Customize your own playable character's gender, head, body, clothes, skin tone and accessories Coaster cam lets you experience the thrill of every speedy turn and stomach-churning drop your roller coasters have to offer Rerations < Thrillville >

customer 's review (this game is sci fi if you did watch the movie you would know it was strange)
(Enh)
(Morpheus was wrong)
(Hahahahahahahah)
(Finally! The ONE we've been waiting to play!) this game was very good but it was very strange if you didn't watch te movie it will be very strange and it is also very hard. I bought the game and played it once or twice ... I did not enjoy it at all. However, I am also not a first person shooter gamer. I gave this game away since buying it because it was just collecting dust on my shelves. Shiny Games dropped the ball with Enter the Matrix back in 2003. They rushed their product to meet the release date of Matrix Reloaded, and the flaws were evident in a game riddled with bugs and an awful design. Somehow the game still sold millions of copies and drove Shiny to create another Matrix video game. Sadly, Matrix: Path of Neo isn't much better than Enter the Matrix. It isn't as loaded with bugs and glitches, but it's a game that could have been smoothened out with another few months of development.
In Path of Neo, you put your arms through the leather sleeves of Neo's trench coat and take on all of his abilities in the process. The story revolves around him, and throughout the game, it's your goal to learn new abilities and the ways of the Matrix while also doing missions from the movies. In between levels there are Matrix movie clips that help give the levels some sort of meaning, but the clips seem to have been randomized. Any Matrix fan will feel the urge to laugh at such out-of-place movie samples. The cut-scenes themselves are actually better, and are voiced well by sound-alikes of the movie's original cast. That's probably the only positive thing about the story, which I never cared about from the beginning.
The fighting in Path of Neo is difficult to appreciate, despite having a lot of potential. Neo has a lot of moves, and being able to use them all is exciting enough to make every enemy encounter a fresh one. The environments break apart, making some of the fights as epic as they were in the films. The slow-motion "Focus" mode that was made famous by the Matrix films is also a nice perk to the hand-to-hand combat. The only problem is that new moves are constantly being discovered, so for a long time, each battle will be fought with similar moves and combos that become quickly repetitive. The controls don't help much, as they simply dirty up the experience even more. At times, I'd hit more than one button at a time and Neo would just stand around being mauled from all sides by enemies. When the controls are functioning correctly, there is a little too much button-mashing for my taste. There is a single punch button, a grapple button, and a dodge button. I can promise you that you'll wear them out through a lot of time with Path of Neo.
Now, moving away from hand-to-hand combat and into weapon combat, any sort of excitement goes away. Fighting becomes a disgustingly choppy experience. With melee weapons like staves and swords, Neo swings his weapon as roughly as a bumpy gravel road and hitting enemies is difficult when he turns as slowly as he does. Guns themselves just aren't fun to use and feel very weak. The auto-aim system is frustrating and broken. Oftentimes after an enemy goes down, the lock-on cursor will stay on the dead body, making Neo run around staring at a corpse. Of course, while this is going on, the camera is spinning out of control and enemies are left shooting at you. The result is nothing but confusion, cheap deaths, and frustration.
The presentation of Path of Neo is a mixed bag. The graphics are really inconsistent. Sometimes the character models and environments look fantastic. The environments are destructible and the Focus effects always look like a treat. Other times, though, the textures are ugly and broken, graphics blur together, and the animation chugs behind a frame rate that is never consistent in the first place. The music is the typical Matrix fare, and the sound effects don't sound very unique or explosive. Again, the voice acting is probably the best part of the presentation. I must say that the pause screen is really cool, as it turns everything on-screen into the neon-green Matrix coding.
I think Matrix: Path of Neo wasted a lot of potential. It was cool to punch Morpheus through the walls of a dojo in Neo's training. But struggling with the awful controls and trudging through the repetitive, boring levels brings down the experience to a level low enough that I can't recommend buying the game. After every session I had with the game, I felt myself wanting to play the game less and less. I actually think Path of Neo is better than Enter the Matrix, simply because there is potential entertainment to be found here, but I'd recommend a weekend rental at most. Morpheus was wrong, because Neo's not The One. I'll try to explain everything that was wrong with this game. First off, when you are watching in game cinematic's there will be horribly long and akward pauses. At first I wasn't sure if I was supposed to press a button or what, but I soon realized that it was just bad editing. Second, when you are in hand-to-hand combat(meele) mode, and want to switch to running to some door somewhere in the level, Neo will walk with his gaurd up at about half the speed. Third, I could swear that all it ever gave me was the "Y+B"...."B"..."\/ Y" Combo. Fourth, I cannot even begin to critique the camera angles in this game, geesh... Well, I guess if you enjoy fighting giant ants with a torch and hitting the "Y" button about ten-thousand times, this is the game for you. PS: I give the W-Brothers a big "WTF?" for that last level. Ten whole minutes of ACTION PACKED, dodge, hit.... And you can't even pick where you want to hit the Smith'o bot, it's all just one boring movie... Yawn... Hey, what can i say? THIS game is much more like what the first game should've been. This game is not linear as other reviewer(s) have suggested. Yes, it follows a VERY familliar story-line for fans of the series. But, this program allows you to act out some of the BEST battles that NEO had to offer within the trilogy. The way they meshed the movie bits with a new perspective was very nice. 600 DIFFERENT ATTACKS! I think that's incredible. Some are so creative you'll find yourself attached to them more than others. But, there are so darn many you may never use all of them! New characters written in by the Wachowski's , come new environments, and the original voice actors. Better graphics than the first, better action. Easier to control characters. The only complaint i have is that your friends AI is not all too smart. Once in a while they'll walk right in front of you while you're shooting and bite the big one. Or, stand too close when you detonate a bomb and (again) bite the big one. Other than that, this was as great as i expected it to be. I'm not even a die hard fan of the movie franchise. I am, however, a fan of this game. A fun program whether you're a hardcore fan or not. But, it does help to know at least a little about the movie first. The Matrix: Path Of Neo continues the story of The Matrix. You become Neo and try to follow the path of The One - your choices will decide the fate of humanity. They may win where Neo failed or find another way to solve the problem - the path is now theirs to follow. Rerations < Matrix Path of Neo >

customer 's review (fun game for what its worth)
(Great Button Masher)
(great slashing warrior game)
(history with a twist)
(I didn't expect this) paid like 20 bucks for this game. and it did give me plenty of fun hours with it. although it is now outdated by other games like it. like samurai warriors two and such. it was still a good game. Easily some of the most exciting action games in the past few years are the DYNASTY WARRIORS games from Koei. What the series lacked in storyline surely made up for it with the action packed and longtime playability that you would find in each game. Where else can you kill hundreds or even thousands of enemy soldiers for hours at a time? And of course, as we'ved already seen with the series so far, if a series works, companies will capitalize on its success. This is the case for Koei newest title, SAMURAI WARRIORS. One of the most appealing things about the DYNASTY WARRIORS series, other than the constant action, is the historical background of ancient China. Sure, while there is no record of any one person killing 1000 people in a single battle, the game brings some historical references into the game to sprucen up the storyline. The only difference between DYNASTY WARRIORS and the newcomer SAMURAI WARRIORS is that the latter now takes place in feudal Japan. Taking place during the Sengoku period of Japanese history, When the political power of the Ashikaga Shogunate collapsed in the succession dispute of 1467, the islands of Japan erupted in a series of major wars. This era in Japanese history became known as the Sengoku or "warring states" period. SAMURAI WARRIORS explores this dramatic era and combines it with the Tactical Action excitement KOEI has become known for. SAMURAI WARRIORS stars the brave Sanada Yukimura, who leads an elite band of samurai and ninja. Sanada's journey will take him to the hallowed Japanese battlefields of Okehazama and Kawanakajima and inside the embattled walls of Osaka Castle where he will come face-to-face with gun-toting troops, echelons of ninja, and deadly kunoichi (female ninja). Players can choose the role of Sanada Yukimura or other legendary samurai and ninja. The game will herald the rise of the indispensable ninja, Hattori Hanzo, from the shadows of history, as well as the reemergence of KOEI's powerful and mysterious Oda Nobunaga. Missions evolve depending on player performance and the tide of battle. Success or failure can affect scenarios in later stages. With 500 variations, the chain of missions is unique with each play, adding depth while heightening the urgency and excitement of combat. Samurai Warriors' AFS (auto-formation system) randomly generates castle levels and conquest routes offering a new experience with each play. [KOEI] SAMURAI WARRIORS obviously focuses on the warring nations that combat each other during this time period. But technically, for storyline, that is about as historically accurate as this one gets (other than a few real-life characters that you will find throughout the game). SAMURAI WARRIORS allows you to select from 15 different characters, each with his or her own fighting style and storyline. True, they donall differ too much from each other, but they are different enough to warrant playing through more than one of them. Basically, if you played any of the DYNASTY WARRIORS games, you'll feel right at home with SAMURAI WARRIORS. The square button performs most of the attacks you use throughout the game, allowing you to string together combos. By adding in the occasional press of the triangle or circle buttons for your special attacks, you be able to take apart the enemy armies in no time. Of course, the coolest mode found in the game is when two players see who can kill 1000 enemies the quickest. The newest upgrade to SAMURAI WARRIORS is the Officer Mode, which allows you to create your own samurai from several pre-rendered models. After creating your character, you go through a series of tests from your trainer until you are good enough to join a clan and become a full fledged samurai. There are also some new RPG effects added into the game that allow you to upgrade your characterattack, defense and weaponry. One of the biggest downfalls of the game, just like the DYNASTY WARRIORS games, is the English voice acting. The voice acting was pretty bad before, but now it just seems downright intolerable. Luckily for us, a much better acted Japanese track is available for players. The music is also decidedly more Japanese, more subdued and traditional, than the previous rock tracks that we are used to in the DYNASTY WARRIORS series. I also didn't like the endless castle maze (which all looked alike hence only 4 stars) plus the graphics are not as good as Samurai 2 (which has more color&depth) SAMURAI WARRIORS is still a perfectly good action game for people who enjoy playing games that don't require much thought. This is a game that any player can just jump into and have a great time. great game! [...]we were so happy and then i beat the whole game on every single mode and it was hard for me to beat them with every charactor and i made 15 officers in officer mode and i beat it with all 15 of them too and the 30 level was pretty hard but i still beat all 90 stages.like i said i beat the whole game.it was fun i'm starting all over again. this is history people but there are some unreal events and so on but any way samurai warriors is a great game here is a list of some pros and cons
pros Great body gaurds with different cool weapons. Horses can now attack like stomp and they can stampede into enemies New items and a shop thingy. More characters to chose from for create officer mode. ninja jumps and all of those improvements. Sky ninjas, Strike ninjas, Wind ninjas, Fire ninjas, and musketeers have been upgraded
now for some cons those stupid lousy castle levels they stink like... it seams like every 4 seconds something important happens like a genaral dies or somthing and i dont have enough time to get around. and other things little things that dont come to my mind at the moment but overall it is worth to atleast rent to try it out. go get it today! when I heard that they came out with a new game to add on to the original dynasty warriors game I almost made a suprise in my pants I was so excited. when I heard that the game was called samurai warriors I thought that it was going to be geeky but the first time I played it I loved it and that is why it gets a 10/10 Samurai Warriors brings the ancient world to life, throwing you into the heart of combat.
