My son plays is xbox for hours on end during the weekends and other non school days. He likes that the blue light from the fan can be seen through his xbox. This was a much cheaper fix than paying the $100 xbox wanted to fix this problem. And not to difficult. Found directions for how to take system apart on line. (F1 Dreamland) 『I own this game. It is alot of fun. I enjoy watching F1 on TV. My favorite driver is Michael Schumacher, the 7 time world champ. I saw the US and the Canadian GPs over the summer. It has some math in it with the timing system. Over all, best game I've ever owned!!!!』
(Not a Bad F1 Game) 『Without a doubt, the F1 series of games on the PC are in a class above and beyond their console counter-parts, that said, F1 2002 for the Nintendo Gamecube is not a bad title. My biggest disappointment with this game was the lacking of a progressive scan mode for HDTV support. Simply put, this game is UGLY on HDTV. When you move the console over to a standard television set (S-Video or below), the graphics appear in much better format. Sound effects are nice, but nothing to write home about. Loading time is AWFUL and unlocking extras can be extremely tedious, but once you have run through the 25+ testing courses, the Grand Prix modes are excellent. It's a shame this game did not ship with the option to open up Grand Prix mode right out of the box as the 25+ testing runs are very draining.
Overall, this is a decent console F1 game that is geared towards patient F1 fans only. Run-and-gun casual gamers will be very turned off by the slow load times and necessity to unlock all of the goodies.』

(F1 2000) 『F1 2000 is a great game, but could be MUCH better. Graphics and sound are great. Options make the game interactive (car set up, fuel strategy). Draw backs are, when qualifying if you get pole, no other driver can beat that time, so you don't have to compete for 'P1'. Also, any car that is in front of you always has some mechanical failure within a few laps. Usually an engine failure will remove the car in front, even when you set "failures" and "Damage" to off. This can be very frustrating since little 'racing' actually occures. I called Tech support and they were of no real help.』
(Too easy) 『Good simulation and graphics but even in the expert mode once you get the lead the race is yours. Not much racing, your car is always the best, even with the worst teams.』

On the other hand, the damage model is frighteningly bad. Run you car into a wall at 170 miles per hour, and you get a message which says, "You're wing is bent! Come in and we'll fix it."
I also got annoyed at the fact that even playing on the expert level, this game is hard to lose. Also, almost every time I am running second, the leader blows up in front of me, even with failures turned off!
One other nit to pick: They boast that "Now you can play the 2000 season at the beginning, instead of waiting until the season is over". Only problem is, we don't know how prone to failure a given car is or how well a driver is going to perform until the season IS over.
Final complaint: I went to EASports' website to complain about this, but couldn't find a feedback line or e-mail spot anywhere.

(GGGRRREEEEAATTT GAME!) 『I love F1 games, but after the abysmal F1'98 I was disheartened trying again. While F1'99 was a good return something still prevented it from being a true F1 game, but now thanks to EA F1 has finally arrived in the playstation pit bringing realism along with it.
Firstly the commentary favoured by other F1 games has been dropped in favour of Pit commentary. By this I mean your pit radioing you all the latest race info, such as approximate leading times, pit windows and the ever important identity of who is in pursuit of your position.
The game engine also seemse more touched up, with the need for getting close the racing line to win, rather than simply going where you please and still winning by a long way!
All this is wrapped up with a great soundtrack provided by Brit rockers Placebo. Great idea!

『Formula One racing may pale in comparison to the U.S. popularity of NASCAR, but that doesn't mean that a good F1 game isn't worth your attention. Rather than create a game for the casual racing masses, EA Sports stayed loyal to the hardcore F1 fans withF1 2000, providing more of a simulation than an arcade-style speed burner.
All the tracks from the F1 circuit are here, rendered to perfection, as are all the racing teams. Pre-race options are just astounding with all the standard car setup features, such as differing tires, gear ratios, and suspensions. There is also a telemetry check screen that examines the performance of racers' cars, allowing for optimal changes.
Once players start racing, they may find that cars don't respond as they should, and controlling these beasts can take quite a bit of practice. That means casual players will be spending more time in the grass then they may consider fun. For F1 fans, though,F1 2000really has it all.--Robb Guido

The training mode is a must if your new to F1. The circuits are realistic and the graphics are good. I recommend a steering wheel with pedals. I iue the Cat2 and it really adds to the realistic feel of actually driving. And don't cut corners or drive like a NASCAR driver or you will get a 10 sec. stop and go penalty or worse case you will receive a black flag. I highly recommend this game.』
(Good, but could be a lot better) 『F1 2000 is the best F1 sim I've seen since Psygnosis's F1 '97. The handling is precise, with all the understeer that is talked about with current F1 cars and the braking is okay. Although it has an annoying tendency to lock the wheels when braking at slow speeds. I like being able to specify pit strategy for all the sessions at the start, but it would be nice to be able to modify this while in the pits (you can change your pit window during the race, but that's it) when testing different fuel loads. The driving views are excellent, especially the in-car angle and the courses are realistically depicted (which is expected) and rendered quite smoothly. Car damage is depicted well, although it is still possible to T-bone a wall and not lose anything from the car or change the handling characteristics. Basically, this game is well suited to someone not interested in serious F1 racing, but who wants to have a fun evening pounding around a few tracks.
For those that are into super realistic F1 simulations, you may want to wait for another version. This game has several annoying bugs in it and has the feel of an advanced beta. Here are a few of the problems I've encountered:
1. Sound. There are multiple bugs in the sound, most notably in Monaco, where the echoing engine sound in the tunnel gets reversed with the normal engine sound after a couple of laps into the race. Secondly, the engine sound occasionally disappears entirely when starting a lap in either practice, qualifying or a race and will only come back after restarting the game.
2. Playability. It is ridiculously easy to win regardless of the level of difficulty. Normally, a perennial backmarker like Minardi should never be able to challenge McLaren, yet it is easy to take pole in any race and lap the field with any car. Part of the reason for this, is the game never pushes the other cars even close to their cornering limits, having them brake at least 15 m too early in some cases. Finally, the game slows everything down when cars are in close proximity. This makes it extremely hard to play, as you have to use an entirely different set of braking points when you are near other cars as opposed to when you're driving alone.
3. Weather/Tyre type. The car handling doesn't change noticably from dry to wet weather. The only real difference is that there is more wheel spin when you put the hammer down from either a standing start or when moving slowly. Directly related to this is the fact that you have no control over tyre type when going into the pits. The track could be bone dry, but if the race started out wet, you have to stay on wets all throughout the race (or practice/qualifying).
Overall, this is a decent sim, but needs a fair amount of work. I eagerly await F1 2001...』
(Excellent F1 Game with Great Playability for PSX/PS2) 『F1 Championship Season 2000 is an excellent step up from the former F1 2000. Both games are enjoyable, but most importantly, they're both driveable, unlike virtually all the F1-based games for PSX (except the Greatest Hits game Formula1).
Those who have previously played F1 2000 will instantly recognize that F1CS2K is largely based on its predecessor. However, the physics engine has been updated, including new car set-up options (such as Rear Spoiler). Due to the upgraded physics engine, it is difficult to use the same driving approaches in both games, but F1CS2K's physics engine actually increases both playability and believeability... and overall survival at Monaco!!
However, F1CS2K provides more features than its predecessor. For those just beginning with F1 racing games, Training Mode is absolutely important, allowing the player to both learn the courses (including corner/segment names) and receive visual and auditory tips and feedback concerning each course's corners and tricky areas. Scenario Mode is great for everyone from novices to experts, challenging all players to raise their skill level as they progress through its fourteen stages of real-world F1 racing concerns, from simply finishing at or above a certain position, to coping with problems such as engine misfire.
The visual detail is quite impressive. Clouds are reflected on the shiny surface of the cars. The grooves on the tires attract the eye. There are still some minor pop-in issues as certain textures/patterns come into view, but this is really barely noticeable, especially when contending with a large pack of traffic.
The sounds are better overall. Most impressive is the higher-pitched sounds of the cars, closer to actual F1 engines. This higher pitch also carries further, allowing the player to better hear other cars located elsewhere on the circuit. The team radio provides more information, which can be of great benefit to the attentive player.
My only major complaint is the French-language option of the game. I speak fluent French, but the voice heard over the radio is extremely difficult to understand. This is not simply an issue of divided concentration (focusing on the race and focusing on the voice); the problem is the voice-acting itself.
One tip which will definitely help in playing virtually all racing games: Buy or rent any game of the Gran Turismo series and complete all the license tests. Among other things, the license tests will teach how to handle different types of cars and how to approach different types of corners in both flat and hilly conditions. The latter is especially important to F1 racing; for example, the Interlagos circuit itself has 90-degree corners, J-turns, chicanes, and severe elevation changes, including the deadly left-hand steep-downhill Turn 1 at the end of a lengthy stretch of flat-out acceleration.』
(A Great Improvement.) 『I wrote a fairly nasty review of the original F1 2000, but this game is a vast improvement over it's predecessor. It's still kind of hard to destroy your car with one impact, but overall the damage is much more severe. Also, it's still pretty easy to win, but this version is much more believable and the competition tries harder that ever: i find it fun when two cars just ahead try to run each other off the road.
I still find it annoying that you can't juggle your fuel load one or two laps either way. On the other hand, it's amazing the amount of detail in the graphics now, including being able to see all the grooves on the rain tires!
On the whole, a lot of fun and the closest thing to watching real F1 racing I've found yet(on the PlayStation, at least).』
(A virtually flawless game) 『However, there is one flaw (and it can be a big one for some)and I'll get it out of the way first. The game is faily easy even at it's highest level. I can start a race as a lesser racer at the expert level in the 22nd postition and have the lead by lap 2 or 3 at the latest. The opponents simply are not fast enough. They will qualify at blistering speeds but come race time they will be 10 to 15 seconds off the pace. I'm willing to overlook this flaw because the rest of the game is brilliant.
There is the usual time trial and scenario modes that add to the other indiviual or championship modes. The incredible feature is the training mode... where you race along the course with the use of visual aids to help in braking an throttle points with the accurate commentary of an instructor. This can be repeated and analyzed with various grade scales for each turn. It's impressive.
The test day feature in a championship weekend is enjoyable too. You can tweak your car, take it out on the track and then view the telemetry with all the appropriate overlays and a TV style presentation of your recorded action on the track. Again... it's impresssive.
The damage physics are not pure... they are lenient with the car up until a certain point. One or two bumps.. your fine. After that expect some damage. I would say it is 90% sim and 10%arcade. These cars have a lot of grip compared to the Expert level on F1 World Grand Prix... which was like driving on ice.
If your an absolute simulation person... Jarret and Labonte Racing is your current ticket. If you willing to forgive some of the less than sim aspects, this is the greatest racing game ever to appear on the playstation. I own Jarret/Labonte and NASCAR 2001 as well, but F1 Championship Season is the one I come back to time and time again.』

(Frustrating and silly) 『If the inane between-game dialogue doesn't get you, then the confusing and frustrating search scenes sure will. The images are grainy and it's very difficult to find objects because many of them are so small. You only are granted a certain number of hints at the start of each puzzle, with no way to earn extras, so if you use them up, you're forced to restart the puzzle. In the "find the difference" puzzles, the differences are SO subtle as to sometimes even be hard to see once you've used a hint! The one puzzle I did like was the silhouette search, where you are shown a silhouette of the item rather than the name of it. This made finding the fuzzy object quite a bit easier. I love a challenge, but this game was just frustrating and annoying. Hidden Expedition series or Mortimer Beckett are much more enjoyable than this one.』

I played Electronic Arts` developed NEED FOR SPEED series in the PLAYSTATION and i was totally stunned,and from then i kept believing EA SPORTS would develop Formula One,my favourite Game at high standards in the PC.Not to mention,that was the same reason for me to buy a very high end PC.But my graphics Card isn`t a Geforce2,but is a Riva TnT2 32Mb one.I played Superbike 2001 on my card.It was simply stunning.It was the game that would satisfy all classes of people.I`m from a middle class family.I can`t afford to buy a Geforce2 64Mb card,instead my house would run for 2 months without any problems with the amount of money i would invest.Formula One mainly attracts the middle class people who are at present 65% in the whole world`s population in terms of Gaming.I hope EA SPORTS would definitely develop F1`2001 and the rest basing on people`s BUDGETS and design them like SUPERBIKE 2001 or FIFA 2001.

(Not too bad) 『I got this game for Christmas and the graphics are great, the detail on the tracks is amazing and the physics, well the physics are hard to judge because I have never driven an F1 car. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the frame rate drops horendously at the start of the race, which is the most important part, however that is only with a 22 car grid and all the graphics options turned on maximum. Also when watching a replay, the cars' wheels tend to turn into octagons, but if you're paying attention to that during a race than you'll smash into that wall up ahead... The driver's school is a nice touch and if you're a novice, it can be very helpfull. Just turn the engine volume down a little so you can hear his instructions. Defenetly something I would recomend to anyone intrested in F1. I am doing a full length world championship (100% race length) and despite not being able to score any points so far, it has given me many hours of entertainment and will continue to do so in the future.』

I based my decision of the depth of car set up that you can tune and also on how the graphics looked on the back of the box. Once installed, the graphics were highly pixilized and nothing like that on the box and when you got into the drivers ed. that's part of the game, you could not hear what you had to do to pass the training. Then there is the game play. I find it way to easy to play untill I take a corner a tad to fast, where I easly loose traction on the rear tires and spin out to end up doing a 180 and loosing at least 4 places of rank. While EA Sports may make other games that are really fun to play with good graphics, F1 Championship Season 2000 should have stayed in R&D a bit longer so that the graphics would have been better looking on systems that don't have thousand's of dollars spent on graphic cards. It also has a Driving School,test day,quick race,championship,and Grand prix. I've played all kinds of racing games on comp. playstation and N-64 and world grand prix is not good. I thought that I was a good driver and I still haven't mastered F-1 2001 on the 1st difficult level. I drove world grand prix about 5 min. and could almost place in the top 3 in all the races.』
(it's just a game....it's just a game.....) 『Somehow I had managed to qualify 5th...WHAM! the race is on, I get a great start....I quickly make my way up to 3rd and 2nd place is just ahead of me, the first corner is coming up really quickly, I'm going to brake late and make the pass...I hit the brake and start turning, all four wheels lose traction and I slide off into the sand trap. When I finally get back on the track I'm in 10th place. I finished in 4th.
Wow. You really get into this game. It is without a doubt the best racing game I've ever played. The graphics are great, the physics are reallistic (execpt for crashing, it takes a lot to really mess up your car), and the courses are very challenging (especialy Monaco).
There is a lot of stuff you can do in this game.
