(F1 Championship 2000) 『This is a great game. I watch F1 every season and it seems that just like in real racing the drivers do better if they are better in real life. Crashes are highly detailed but the only thing i dont like is after a crash u can be brought out of the race do to damage but the car u hit even if u hit the same car like a million times it stays in the race. I find it not fun that way. Otherwise i rate this game 4 stars for its outstanding crashes,graphics,multiplayer and performance. This is worth ur money. A great racing game and lots of action. You can also choose ur car and work on it such as moving ur front and rear wing up and down to provide better wind flow and more speed. If ur not sure rent this game you'll be suprised.』
(Pretty good for F1 fans, but there are better driving games.) 『I got this game when I first got my PS2. Now, I'm sure I liked this game more than most and forgave it for its flaws because I'm such a F1 fan. It is a fun game and the tracks are very realistic (when watching an F1 race I would know the track perfectly when watching an in-car shot after playing the track on this game). The graphics are nice as well. The crashes are a little absurd, but amusing nonetheless. I do say the Gran Turismo 3 is the best driving game on the PS2 or any other system.

Unlike GT3, which I also have and have completed, this game takes real driving skill, not always found in a game. The lines are there, but aren't obvious, and if you are not on the line, you will go slow, and get passed. The starts are very realistic -- spin the wheels and you can forget about the race, assuming you qualified near or at the top.
The handling is superb, and the feel of the game is very good. Unlike GT3, if you go bashing off of other cars in the corners, or anywhere for that matter, you can once again forget about the race.
The graphics are excellent, nothing gets in your way, and nothing is over done. If you are truly focused on the game, the only graphics that matter is the track directly ahead. It does have rear-view mirrors. Learn to use them -- they are realistic and don't take up a quarter of the screen. The weather creates very different scenarios. From dry to damp to wet to pouring, they are all there. There is no on/off weather.
The settings make enormous differences, if you are qualified to play the game, you will notice *major* differences between all of the settings.
Unfortunately, the average game player doesn't have any real-world skills to back up his/her personal ability assessment with video games, and games such as this suffer in their reviews.
Wait until you are able to beat the field by 1.5 seconds on *every* track, in the hardest setting, with damage, penalties, fuel use, tire wear, no assists of any kind (including arrows), and failures on. Win the Championship hands down. Then rate the game. It will be positive.
If you are looking for a fun bash-em-up racing game, save your money and stick with GT3 or some other racing toy game. This is the real deal, and can be extremely frustrating, particularly if you have never driven in real life. F1 teams use games such as this to get more familiar with new tracks. Doesn't that say enough?』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Good stuff.) 『This game frustrated me when I first played it. I couldn't place in the top 10 despite having played many driving games. Over time, I learned the game's subtleties. The game rewards smoothness and consistency, as I've read real racing does. If you jerk the wheel, you'll spin. Simple. Don't mash your brakes, learn to drift into some turns, apply power smoothly and you'll do O.K. On longer races, I learned the tracks and got the turns down to a science, hitting the lines cleanly, even in tight chicanes. I could go on about the pleasures of mastering this game, but will leave with a simple caveat. If you like to turn the game on, drive, speed up your heartbeat a little, and get the scantily clad girls at the end, you'll be disappointed. If you enjoy Formula One racing, driving tactics, and can last a full race (many, many laps)then this game is for you. Oh, and one more thing: if you buy this game, play it with a steering wheel. It's just a pain without it.』
(given the choice, I usually go for Monaco Grand Prix) 『But not always. F1 wins over Monaco GP in some areas. Mainly in presentation. As other reviewers mentioned, in F1, there is a little more dynamic atmosphere - crowds roaring, camera flashes from the grandstands, etc.
Monaco GP, however, has a much better driving simulator. It wins hands-down for simulating spins and texture changes. F1 allows you to drive at nearly full speed doing hard turns (even on grass) and come out unharmed, but in Monaco GP you have a pretty good chance of slamming into a wall if you try that (even with ABS and traction control on). The one thing that F1 seems to simulate reasonable well is understear. If you try breaking too hard coming into a turn, your front tires lock up and you just plow straight forward...
When I want to play a couple rounds of something flashy, I'll start up F1 WGP, but then I'll switch to Monaco for more realistic racing..』
(Best "pure" racing game for the DC) 『I'm mainly writing this to counter the reviews that are saying that this is a horrible game. I don't see that at all. True, if you're not a fan of pure racing games based on a love of auto racing as a sport, you won't like this game. It's not an arcade game like Crazy Taxi, Tokyo Extreme Racer, etc. This game has depth and requires a little effort. But having said that, if you are looking for a racing simulation, this is a great game. The graphics are very good. Definitely good enough to show off to your N64 and Playstation friends. They could've been a little tighter in some areas, but overall they are definitely impressive. The control is good, making good use of the analog thumb triggers and analog "stick". You also have the option of making the steering more or less sensitive. This is entirely separate from the handling options dealing with adjusting the downforce, etc. It also offers many levels of play, from fairly easy to downright impossible. The sound is average overall. Adequate music and sound effects. But having the pit crew on the radio is great. Instead of looking at corners of your screen to see how the other racers are doing (when you should be staring at the road), your pit crew will chime in with remarks letting you know that you're 3 seconds back, or that you're up 2 seconds on the guy behind you, etc. Very nice. Also, the crowd sounds as you pass by them (while they wave flags and such) are a subtle, but nice, touch. There is a great illusion of speed and the frame rate is crisp throughout. You can choose among 5 views during gameplay. The track fly-bys before the race and the replay option after the race are just beautiful to watch. One of the biggest surprises (and what I believe sets this game apart from all other racers) is the incredible weather effects in this game. The rain is amazing! It affects your handling and vision and just looks incredible. And during the race, it can go from cloudy to raining within a few laps and then taper off. True realism. My one big complaint is that they should have tried to include the track from the upcoming US Grand Prix event in Indianapolis this August. But, other than that, I'm very happy with this game. All of the 1998 tracks (which are essentially all the tracks on the 2000 circuit) are captured in amazing detail. Good competition, good control, great graphics, many options--system, mechanical, race--, good sound. Easy to play, hard to master. (I can't comment on how this does on 2-play mode or with any other controller besides the original DC controller since I haven't tried them yet).』

(GREAT GRAPHICS-AI IS BAD.) 『The accuracy of the scenery F1GP coupled with the cheering crowd, photo flashes&horn blowing really pulls you into the F1 atmosphere. Although there is *some* pop up (especially in the grandstand areas) it's not really that noticable. The camera views were great! Especially the above the airbox view, with the drivers head reacting to the sudden G force changes. The track elevation changes,seem to be much better than Monaco GP. However this is just a fun racer rather than a true F1 sim. Some of the little details are great, like the helicopter in Spa and the Airship in Silverstone! Sure it was possible to make setups and adjustments to the car but these adjustments were very general but they changed the behaviour of the car very little. *tuning* the car is sometimes half the fun and this game really isn't for people who plan to spend some time trying to figure out what's wrong with the handling. Also the artificial intel is a bit bogus with competing racers holding some strange lines thru the apexes. They (other team cars) tend to run into the back of you quite often. (Much like the earlier F1 sims of Playstation. The '98 scenario is really horrible With damaged cars just parked out to the side..No overturning or flipping..Just take a look at the Spa 98 race!..U all remember what happened there! But hey if you just want to get on the track and start racing and don't really care about gearing ratios, bump/rebound, spring settings, ride heights etc, etc ..than this is the game to get if you are an F1 fan. U die hard racers who want to stick to slicks than stick with Monaco GP...endnote..the inside cockpit view with drivers' matching gloves were great..Each steering wheel was different with each team. Pit stops let players refuel and repair damage--which cars take realistically--and an announcer identifies racers' ranking, position gains and losses, and specific car damage.
There are 16 races in championship mode, each with weather conditions based on conditions found in the real event. A match-race mode lets two friends compete, which is ideal when you want to go head-to-head against a buddy. The only real drawback to this game is that it lacks the speed of an arcade-style racer, but this fact alone may be enough to scare away nonracing fans.--Robb Guido

Colours and graphics are crisp on my Matrox G200...and sounds is good!』

The length is also fixed. You can't even enter "SCHUMACHER". You'll have to enter it as "SHUMAKER" in order to fit it in. More importantly, this game doesn't give you full control over the front wheels. It tends to keep you on track which is not a good sign for a simulation fan.』
