This double disc set, released to mark the 30th Anniversary of the formation of Big Country, now includes a plethora of demos, outtakes and b-sides. The enhanced packaging includes a 20-page booklet featuring sleeve-notes by the respected author and journalist, Tim Barr, as well as previously unseen photographs. Includes the hits 'In A Big Country', 'Fields Of Fire' and 'Chance'. Universal. A former member of the late '70s English punk band the Skids, guitarist/vocalist Stuart Adamson went to Scotland in 1982 to form a group whose goals were to regain the idealism and passion he felt the punk/new wave movement had lost through commercialization. Tapping U2's producer, Steve Lillywhite, then known for his highly textured, expansive sound, Adamson realized his vision on Big Country's 1983 debut. Propelled by the hit single "In a Big Country," and featuring such rousingly evocative fare as "Fields of Fire" and "Harvest Home," the group's decidedly Scotch-Irish tone prefigured the Celtic music boom by a good 10 years.--Billy Altman Rerations < The Crossing >

In "A Winter's Nap," everybody wants Bear's attention, and all he wants is some rest! A new day dawns for the gang in the Big Blue House in "Morning Glory," and Tutter wants to stay up and play when Bear says it's time to "Go To Sleep," because everyone knows there's fun morning, noon, and night in the Big Blue House! Evening and morning routines take center stage in this two-episode tape. In "Go to Sleep," Bear's small bear friend Ojo is spending the night but fights sleep even though she is tired. Meanwhile, a friendly game of "Go Fish" in the kitchen keeps waking Tutter the Mouse, whose hole is only feet away. The whole gang wakes up from a slumber party at the house in "Morning Glory." Bear teaches them the importance of a good breakfast, brushing teeth, and allowing slow wakers like Ojo a chance to get their bearings, so to speak. The seven-foot adult stand-in also puts the kids to work while serenading them with a round of "Clean Up the House" before they head out for the day. If only it were that easy with little humans. Toddlers through kindergartners will enjoy this 48-minute video from the popular PBS series.--Kimberly Heinrichs Rerations < Bear in the Big Blue House - Early to Bed, Early to Rise >

Preschoolers will help Steve and Blue get the show underway, write an all new song with G-Clef --the voice of Ray Charles, and of course, play Blue's Clues. In Blue's Big Musical Movie, preschoolers will sing, dance, play, and learn that they can be anything they want to be! Includes 6 Brand-New Songs! Promotes Critical Thinking, Music (Curriculum including Notes, Rhythm&Tempo), Problem Solving, Confidence, and Self-Esteem Blue bounds into her first feature-length film ready to sing. She gets sidetracked along the way, of course, but that's part of the brilliantBlue's Cluesformula. Each half-hour TV show presents engaging, easy-to-grasp mini-mysteries that are within toddlers' reach. This time Blue; her huge-eyed, slightly loopy human companion, Steve; and their cadre of talking-object friends are scurrying around, preparing for a backyard music show that day. Everybody picks a number to perform; Blue's is a duet with Tickety Tock, but the clock contracts laryngitis. Who will be Blue's new partner? A game of Blue's Clues reveals the hardly reluctant replacement. The standard discovery of three clues followed by the usual wind-down song would add up to a colossal disappointment in a feature film, so substantial rounding-out is provided. Steve stumbles onto a keyboard inhabited by a note called G-Clef (the unmistakable voice of Ray Charles), who gives a tour of how to make a song. First you pick the notes, then you work on rhythm, then comes tempo, and, last but not least, "you've got to give it soul." This movie's themes include perseverance (Tickety Tock can't sing but finds a way to contribute anyway) and self-empowerment.Blue's Big Musical Movieis a feast for little eyes and ears; the sets are so colorful they hurt grown-up eyes, and the songs--especially the one that gets the Charles treatment--are all sing-along-with-me winners.--Tammy La Gorce Rerations < Blue's Clues - Blue's Big Musical Movie >

So it's too badThe Big Picturejoins a slew of posthumous releases (Tupac, Notorious B.I.G.) that leave you feeling queasy. Would L be performing backflips in his grave over this final product? Probably not, since some of the crème de la crème of rap producers (DJ Premier, Pete Rock) were hauled in to do vocal patchwork when L hadn't completed a song. The numerous ill collabos don't hurt either. On "Platinum Plus" Big Daddy Kane tears it up like it was 1992, while the late Tupac's contribution to "Deadly Combination" ischilling. Big L's debut,Lifestyles Ov Da Poor and Dangerous, was one of the most vulgar hip-hop albums of all time (just remember his ultraviolent threats on "All Black" or "Danger Zone," where he raps "they said a real man won't hit a girl, well I ain't real, 'cause I beat bitches up"). So then it's no surprise that his narratives still revolve around unenlightened sexcapades and gunplay ("The Heist," "Casualties of a Dice Game"). "Ebonics," the unofficial slang dictionary classic, showcases L at his artistic apex. Thankfully, instead of a posthumous album rife with studio outtakes and butchered freestyles that shouldn't see the light of day (OK, so maybe two versions of the "The Heist" was unnecessary), this release gels well.--Dalton Higgins Rerations < Big Picture >

This is certainly the case with Big Star, a Memphis band forged out of a willful vision, whose brief existence profoundly affected scores of artists spearheading the post-punk/alternative power pop schools of music throughout the eighties and nineties. R.E.M., The Replacements, The Posies, Teenage Fan Club, Wilco, and The Bangles, are just a few of the artists who have acknowledged a huge debt to Big Star. This newly remastered version of#1 Record / Radio Cityfeatures enhanced packaging and two unreleased bonus tracks! A two-for-one combo of the first two Big Star albums (they only recorded three). Heard side by side,#1 RecordandRadio Cityonly add further testament to Big Star's seminal greatness. On the first album, Chris Bell and Alex Chilton share songwriting credit, though each brings a remarkably different sensibility to the band: Bell creates pure pop nuggets ("Feel") while Chilton swaggers with reckless melancholy ("Ballad of El Goodo," "Thirteen."). After Bell's departure, Chilton took control of the helm forRadio City, and what a ride it is. While not abandoning Bell's penchant for pop,Radio Citycareens wildly through some of the most exhilarating music ever created, from the rave-up opener, "O My Soul," to the pure pop masterpiece "September Girls" to the whimsical ditty "I'm in Love with a Girl." It's too bad that Big Star didn't create more albums, but thank God they made the ones they did.--Tod Nelson Rerations < #1 Record/Radio City >

Fast shipping and 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. Little Big Town's hook is their four-part harmony, and as hooks go, this one is pretty terrific. There are moments so pretty and folky and sweet they almost sound like Crosby, Stills, and Nashville. And the fine wall-of-mostly-acoustic-sound, while at times a little overloaded with drums and unnecessary instrumentation, generally serves their efforts to penetrate a market that is at present a little bloated with music that lacks essential nutrients. To their credit, the band wrote nearly all the tunes on their debut CD, and, even more laudable, they have chosen to swap lead vocals, risking audience confusion and the lack of instant recognition that comes with letting one member run the spotlight. If Little Big Town stand their ground, earn some character, and occasionally risk a little less production, they may mature into a fine addition to the vocal harmony tradition.--Henry Cabot Beck Rerations < Little Big Town >
